- 0:00Speaker 1: Football for is powered by the Inside of the Birds podcast.
- 0:02It's brought to you by the Fanatics Sports Book at
- 0:04Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. That's where we are today.
- 0:08Adam Kaplan's in the house on a football Friday, a
- 0:12happy hour Friday, a reaction Friday, a spitgate Friday, you
- 0:17name it. It's all happened. It all happened in the
- 0:19game last night, and we've been breaking it down for you.
- 0:22We've been getting just an avalanche of text messages today,
- 0:27but we're gonna break down this game. The Eagles win,
- 0:30and sometimes a week one game can lie to you,
- 0:34Adam Kaplan, we saw it last night. It was a
- 0:37close game. A couple drops change the complexion of that game.
- 0:41Certainly an ejection change the complexion of that game. But
- 0:44how much truth saram do we put in that game
- 0:47last night?
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Mike, that's some in my notes to you, that's
- 0:50what I try to warn you about. Mike. You gotta
- 0:52be careful of making a lot of conclusions. You and
- 0:56make a note of everything, but you just try to
- 0:58put it in proper perspective what it really means. There's
- 1:01certain things that are really noticeable, which is really interesting.
- 1:03So let's get started. Mike with the Eagles offense, Hurts,
- 1:08I've not seen him run this well. I mean he's
- 1:10always been a power runner, but the thing we saw
- 1:12a little bit of this last year. But this game, Mike,
- 1:16he has added a dimension what we call making unblocked
- 1:20defenders miss. I mean, he's really good at it. He's
- 1:23more of a power runner earlier in his career. It's
- 1:24not just that anymore. So Yeah, I don't know if
- 1:26it's watching tape, but he's more instinctive, whatever the case
- 1:29may be. Chris Collinsworth said it right. He completely humiliated
- 1:33their defense. They like the other than the big play Mike,
- 1:36I mean, was just a big time for it by
- 1:38Hurts to Dotson, everything was underneath. There's really nothing.
- 1:42Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:42Speaker 2: He makes some throws by the way to Goddard, which
- 1:45is what I'd said on our pregame show with Greg
- 1:48co Sell and Jeff Moscher. I said, look, got it's
- 1:50going to be my player of the game now. He
- 1:52did have a lot of receptions, but nothing, you know,
- 1:55it was basically less than five less than six yards
- 1:57pretty much every play. So while the passing numbers weren't great,
- 2:02it Hurts was very efficient miss by the way, no mistakes,
- 2:06you know, no turnovers. You'll take that any day. That
- 2:08that's winning football. And they'll build off that, make their
- 2:11corrections and and move on. But and then, look, let's
- 2:15face it, the delay hurt both teams offense. What a well,
- 2:19I'll keep this clean for radio. What a beleef fest
- 2:22it was. It was awful that that that coming back
- 2:25from the break, Mike, it was pure torture.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts last night, according to our friend Jeff Kerb
- 2:30at CBS, six of six for seventy eight yards, seven
- 2:34carries for thirty two yards and a touchdown on third down.
- 2:38He won the game with his third down performances last night.
- 2:40That's where he really shines.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Mikey Uh, I'm just amazed at I was said, he's
- 2:46a nice runner. You know, obviously he's great and you
- 2:48know with a toush push, but it wasn't just just
- 2:51the push play, Mike Key, I'm really fascinated to see
- 2:56at some point this the passing game will be a
- 2:59bigger fact. And obviously it's tempo of each game, Mike.
- 3:03The great gamescript will tell you where that goes. And
- 3:06we saw in the Super Bowl, Mike, when Hurts had
- 3:08a throw it didn't throw a ton. He was really good.
- 3:10So we'll lot more on this next week. We taught
- 3:14the Inside the Tape show drops Tuesday morning at six
- 3:17am Eastern on all platforms with Greg co Sal. I'm
- 3:20very interesting to see or hear what Greg thought of
- 3:22Hurts in the past, the game of that game.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan Inside the Birds, Inside the Birds podcast on
- 3:28all podcasting platforms. You know, one thing that we talked
- 3:30about is the run game here. You know, late in
- 3:33games last year, Philly would run that game out and
- 3:35that's how they would beat you. They could not run
- 3:38the game out last night, and they ran the ball
- 3:40okay for the most part, but it wasn't a typical
- 3:44game where they run the game out and ended.
- 3:47Speaker 2: No. A couple of things happen, you know when Shipley
- 3:50by the way, but did he look good. We'd like
- 3:52Shipley for a while. We didn't agree with their decision
- 3:56to have game role to play over and we understood
- 3:58why strictly because Game was this phenomenal pass protector that
- 4:02that matters the coaches. I get that. But Shipley's explosiveness,
- 4:08juice which we've talked about for two years. He saw
- 4:11it display on that catch. Unfortunately I wasn't on special teams.
- 4:15He heard his rips. I can't remember. I it might
- 4:17have been, but he left early. He left early, did
- 4:19not return. That's not good. And there was a concern
- 4:21with his body type. What do he hold up physically?
- 4:24So that's something to watch, and that's why you saw
- 4:26aj Dillon come in. Dylan look good on that nine
- 4:29yard run. Not much after that. Give Dallas credit. They
- 4:32didn't stop Eagles run, but they controlled it. And on Barkley.
- 4:35I got to give Barkley credit. He made some nice
- 4:38runs on his own where it wasn't block great. So yeah,
- 4:41I give Dallas credit. Historically been a terrible run defense.
- 4:45I know Kenny Clocks helped. There's no question with that
- 4:47that trade. Joey Jones is now of course sticking his
- 4:50chest out. Good job, jar, Are you for one game
- 4:53your run defense actually showed up?
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yes, they did. They played well late in that game too.
- 4:57I mean that's what it was more for me, it
- 4:58was late in the game. They did a good job
- 5:00there kind of holding up there. Barkley never really was
- 5:04able to break the big one there. Shipley, as you said,
- 5:06looked pretty good in his series, and Dylan got a
- 5:09series in there. I think he had three carries for
- 5:11like ten yards. But the wide receivers, it was a
- 5:14Dotson Knight. It was a dots In Knight. He had
- 5:16the big plays. He had twenty yards a catch, one
- 5:19catch for AJ and a lot of underneath stuff the
- 5:22rest of the game.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and I was saying with our Patreon group on discord,
- 5:28it was like, all right, guys, this is real simple.
- 5:31That was just to get get a J. Brown a catch.
- 5:34I really felt like that. I mean it's not like
- 5:36they're going to admit that, but it really felt like it. Yeah,
- 5:39it was weird. Man. Now again, we're gonna have to
- 5:42find out what by coverage what happened? Was he not
- 5:45getting open? They need to do a better job scheming
- 5:48him open. Was he open not getting the football. We
- 5:49don't know that yet because it's all gonna be tape based,
- 5:52all twenty two based. You can't tell FTV. But it
- 5:55was a weird game, but good to see Dots and
- 5:57being used. He had a really good offseason, Mike, and
- 6:00I know the Commanders do not want him. They were
- 6:03very down on him at the time of the trade.
- 6:05I'll leave it at that. And he's really helped himself
- 6:07with his full of season that throbe By Hurts a
- 6:10super big time, great job by Dotson tracking it, and
- 6:13they beat Kyrie Elm, who I thought they'd go after
- 6:15anyway at some point.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Well, they had a big night from Dots and good
- 6:18to see him kind of evolve a little bit. Maybe
- 6:20if he gives you a three for fifty seven like
- 6:23he did last night, that's a weapon. That's a guy
- 6:25that you can incorporate into your office. And that stemmed
- 6:28from what we saw from him in the playoffs. He
- 6:30made some plays in the playoffs, and as we talk
- 6:32about him, god was Goddard was a big part of
- 6:35the game because you know, it's funny somebody times like man,
- 6:37they got to get Goddard involved, They got to get
- 6:38the tight end involved. Well, they got him involved last night.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, he looked. He looked good, very happy. You should
- 6:45be Eagles fans that they they got him involved early too.
- 6:51And that's the thing. I always felt like Goddard and Hurts,
- 6:55his chemistry has just been inconsistent. But look, they've worked
- 6:59together a number of years. You know, Jalen's. You know,
- 7:03in another year as a starter, you would think you
- 7:05would get to be better there. So that was good
- 7:07to see. Again, there's gonna be some weeks they're gonna
- 7:10have to throw more. It was a very odd game week.
- 7:12One Mike can fool you. I've learned my lesson. Just
- 7:16let the thing play out. Don't make any like on
- 7:19our our our YouTube comments. I'm laughing and people are
- 7:24making fun of this guy. This dude. There's one dude
- 7:26who totally overreacted blaming coaches. It's Sirianni's fault that the
- 7:31game is. It's just really it is something like I
- 7:34was gonna ask you this, what's been the tenor of
- 7:36the text messas people? Are they overacting or not worried
- 7:39at all.
- 7:40Speaker 1: We've got like a record number of text messages today,
- 7:43by the way, I mean the text board is like
- 7:45an avalanche of text messages, and it has been kind
- 7:49of you know, one guy, Okay, just give you an example.
- 7:51One guy says Carter should be suspended for six games.
- 7:55Did he have a woman who says he shouldn't be
- 7:57suspended at all?
- 7:58Speaker 2: So I mean getting that okay, so he should have
- 8:01done that. You know, let's discuss this, Mike. Look, we
- 8:05got the video. I know, see there's a saying Mike Pierra,
- 8:11Mike Pereira, remember him, the director of officials, who's wonderful.
- 8:15So I remember getting no, Mike because I was trying
- 8:17to figure out, like, how do they evaluate personal fouls
- 8:21and when guys have to get fined or thrown out?
- 8:24He always tell me we cannot legislate intent. We just
- 8:26go by the letter of the rule. Well, this is
- 8:29unsports ake and you can't spin it a player. That's
- 8:32just not right. And there are there there. Look, in
- 8:35recent years, Mike, they've been the tonic stuff, like they're
- 8:38really cracking down. Then they put an emphasis on it
- 8:40this year. Now, I'm gonna be honest here. Coaches, you know,
- 8:45I don't know Nick Sirianni and everything I've heard. He's
- 8:48wonderful guy, coaches players hard. But and I know Jalen
- 8:52Carter sometimes is a little bit immature. But you've got
- 8:55to make sure you've got to emphasize this stuff. The
- 8:58rest are looking for this stuff. Like I get it
- 9:01that Prescott did spit. Prescott talked about it there for
- 9:05the game, but he says he does it all the time.
- 9:07It was nothing personal, wasn't It wasn't even close to
- 9:10where Carter went. But he did spit. What what Carter
- 9:14should have done is point at the reft. Hey man,
- 9:16did you see that the spit at me? Yeah, and
- 9:19back way. You know, you ever see that in a
- 9:21lot of sports, where like if someone throws a punch,
- 9:24you just back off and you point at the guy.
- 9:25You go, hey, see what he just did. That's what
- 9:28Carter should have done. And he's going to learn from this.
- 9:30And I'll be also interested to see if he goes
- 9:33you know, they what they've done in the past with players.
- 9:35We've seen a lot of coaches do this. Okay, the
- 9:37guy might not start a couple of plays, Well, good
- 9:38luck with that when you're trying to beat the Chiefs.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Well yeah, so the reaction has been all over them.
- 9:43In fact, quite frankly, we've been so busy, we've been
- 9:45on way to get a fraction of these text bets
- 9:47that we're going to try to do a little bit
- 9:48more here. What about the offensive line last night and
- 9:51their role in the lack of run game and this
- 9:55game overall, because usually you know that's where your your
- 9:57bread is buttered up front with those guys, Mike.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I was surprised. I thought they got handled at times. Yeah,
- 10:05that's that's what it looked like to me. I don't
- 10:07think they were crisp. I thought they had some problems
- 10:11in the run game. Pass pro was sometimes wasn't great.
- 10:14We're looking to find out whether any times or Hurts
- 10:17held onto the ball a little bit too long. You
- 10:18know that at times in hurts his career. That's been
- 10:20an issue that's been well documented. I'm just curious what
- 10:25I don't know. Look, let's not forget Dickerson with his back.
- 10:28That was a problem, Mike, he looks a little bit heavy.
- 10:31To me, I'm not the only person who studies what
- 10:35the Eagles are doing and feels that way around the
- 10:37league mentioned to me last couple of months that you
- 10:41know you worry about with all the knee problems, Mike.
- 10:44Now he's got a back problem. And how about that
- 10:46Brett Toath. Okay, so that right now, I wonder next
- 10:50week if Dickerson can't play, I wonder if a go
- 10:53with Brett Toath or will they tried Matt pryor.
- 10:56Speaker 1: All right, Well, that's something to keep an eye on there.
- 10:59Definitely for sure, because you're right this uh left guard
- 11:02spot Atlanta Dickerson can't go for a little while. Here
- 11:04is Brent to the guy that they're gonna go with. Here,
- 11:06let's shift over to defense. No Jalen Carter. They only
- 11:10had a couple of defensive tackles I think four in
- 11:13all last night. So how I mean, obviously lose Carter,
- 11:16huge loss, But how does it affect not only the rotation,
- 11:21but then everybody else you know you're talking about you
- 11:24got no pass rush last night. Well, normally Carter gets
- 11:27doubled in triple teams and that opens up everybody else
- 11:29that went out the window from the first play of
- 11:31the game.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Yeah, for the majority of the season, Jalen Carter was
- 11:34the most double team defensive tackle and he was not
- 11:37really good at defeating them at one on one. He's
- 11:39impossible to block. He wins. His win rate is huge.
- 11:42But Mike I thought last night the pass rusher, well, look,
- 11:47we've been on this pass rush thing for months. It's
- 11:50on inside of Births. We've talked about it. It's we
- 11:52know it would be an issue. You try to warn
- 11:55people with Jet's son, he's not a developed pass rusher.
- 11:58You have to give it time. You just can't just
- 12:00snap your fingers. Oh, you know, he's gonna be a
- 12:02great pass rusher. This is only his fourth year as
- 12:05an edge rusher. Mike. Let's not forget he went to
- 12:08Cornell's safety so he's been a nice story. But let's
- 12:12just just let it happen. I would say that Josh
- 12:19buche had a couple of nice rushers with it called
- 12:21qr's quality rushers. As coaches told me over the years,
- 12:24they liked that Camel line up as an edge rusher
- 12:26a little bit. But you know, overall, Mike, it was lacking.
- 12:31And you mentioned it. You're nailed to Carter not being
- 12:33their changes everything in a joemo. He had one decent rush.
- 12:37I saw he was kind of invisible and understand with
- 12:39Gabe Hall, he's not a run game. He's not a
- 12:42rundown guy. I mean, he's just he doesn't stop the
- 12:45run Byron Young is more a little bit more stout,
- 12:48and we try to warn people with ty Robinson, particularly
- 12:50in our pregame show, Greg co Sel said it he
- 12:53thought that ty Robinson was not ready to contribute. And
- 12:55by the way, ty Robinson was a healthy and active.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yes he was, and they were down a guy with
- 13:00Carter out, so they probably could have used a little
- 13:02bit of him. Gabe Wall played five snaps in the
- 13:04game last night, but was mostly Davis and ojon Wo
- 13:08for most of the night.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Last night, Let's Davis. I talked to Greg co Sell Toaday,
- 13:13he thought this is by far his best game as
- 13:15a professional, from beginning to end with with Davis Mike.
- 13:20I just wanted to make sure I said this. His
- 13:22issue has been flash plays and then you don't see
- 13:25him like he'd had four or five while plays and okay,
- 13:27the rest of the game didn't do well. He showed
- 13:29up big time. This is where being in great physical
- 13:32shape for him. I mean, he's a big dude showing up.
- 13:35I mean, I mean, I can't believe I'm gonna say
- 13:38this for him. He looks felt in training camp. Because
- 13:40Jeff and I were at the Maxwell Club Awards his
- 13:43rookie season, he was obviously a mountain of a man
- 13:47like Lynnval Joseph. I don't remember Lynval Joseph two years ago.
- 13:51Lin Bell is one of the biggest human biggs I've
- 13:53ever seen. Jordan Davis looks so good physically in training camp.
- 13:56We just didn't know kind of transfer how well we
- 13:59could tell one game. Again, we're not making any broad statements,
- 14:02but he played extremely well. Great sign. He's just got
- 14:06to be consistent with it.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Uh, Let's look at that group of Edge guys because
- 14:11o Jalari was not active yesterday, so they only went
- 14:14with three guys. It was Hunt, it was Smith, and
- 14:17it was They did have Patrick Robinson, I guess was
- 14:19out on the field at times as well. So but
- 14:22a little bit of a little bit of an up
- 14:24and down group last night and obviously haven't corner out
- 14:26affects them big time.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and Johnson did play some stampslot. He had a
- 14:30really good training camp and then typically when it happens
- 14:33if he plays the only some special teams. But yeah,
- 14:36look Oko Cronck Rowe, I'm not surprised. He was an actor.
- 14:39That was that was expected, but wow, o Jalauri. They
- 14:43gave a guarantee of the four million, three million they guaranteed,
- 14:46so they weren't going to cut him. He was a
- 14:48healthy and active Mike. That's not good. They so they've
- 14:52got a major problem Mike at Edge Rush here. This
- 14:55is it's only one game. But this is this is
- 14:59a carry over. This not new. Though if it's something
- 15:01was new, you go, okay, no big deal. This is
- 15:05not new. This is a carryover from the entire offseason.
- 15:08And I'll be interest to see what they do here,
- 15:12whether they go outside another veteran by the trade deadline,
- 15:15if this is continuing, there's no look they were in
- 15:18you know about the ESPN Stewer and Parsons, Now that's
- 15:21just because he came available. How he would how he
- 15:24roseman the Eagles GM. If anyone is available who's a
- 15:28big time player, he's in on it. I mean, that's
- 15:30just he will make at least make the call. So
- 15:33that's that. But it's a problem like this pass rush
- 15:36is something that's just got to be better.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan Football at four from the Inside the Birds podcast,
- 15:42Inside the Birds dot Com and Adam in a moment
- 15:45can tell you a little bit about what they're doing
- 15:46this season. A lot of new shows, a lot of
- 15:48good stuff that you want to get more reaction. But
- 15:50let's look at the linebackers. I love Zach Baughan running
- 15:54down Sanders was the play of the game. By the way,
- 15:57he doesn't make that game saving tackle who knows how
- 15:59the scheme in this conversation.
- 16:01Speaker 2: This just came from ESPN. The Eagles are signing Zidarius Smith,
- 16:07who's a good play he's a veteran's.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Yeah Minnesota, Yeah, yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I like this. So he was with the Lions last year.
- 16:14He's a really good pass rusher when he's when he's
- 16:17like got everything going. He could also this is important,
- 16:21you can line up inside like the BG role, like
- 16:23if you want him to play. He's played actually inside
- 16:27in in Nickels, so they need let's listen, listen.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Sixty nine career sacks, by the way, the.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Guy's good player. Yeah, he's a good veteran, good veteran presidence.
- 16:36The Lions had some interest, as I understand, and bringing
- 16:39him back, but he goes speed him to it. It's
- 16:42a good signing. I like to smiop. Good job by Howie.
- 16:45Speaker 1: By the way, live breaking news. Right there is a
- 16:47Darius Smith former Lion, Minnesota vikings one year deal with Philadelphia.
- 16:53Sixty nine career sec nine last season for Zadarius Smith. Okay,
- 17:00let's look at we look at linebacker the game savy tackle.
- 17:03But what about the two rookies Campbell and mccuba.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yeah, boy, but Campbell showed up. How about mccuba. So
- 17:12basically what happened was in base defense, which they Vic
- 17:17fanciered to his crew. I mean, he was a lie.
- 17:18They're there, are they they're a very low and they're
- 17:20low total of base defense. Brown was the safety. But
- 17:24mccooba played, you know, almost all of this. Otherwise it
- 17:27was all macouba. So mccouba was a starter. That's that's
- 17:30that's when I say that he's the He's their main
- 17:33safety next to blanket ship. And I am a little
- 17:36surprised though, Mike only in this because he missed time
- 17:40and he with two different injuries. And you know, Vic,
- 17:44you saw what happened with uh with the Genie last year.
- 17:47He didn't think the gene was ready missed too much time.
- 17:50Gim mitched more than mccooba. But mccoub is just a
- 17:53better football player in the city Brown, who's a box safety.
- 17:56So I'm I'm fascinated kind of what this could look like.
- 18:00And here's another thing. You know, did he played at
- 18:01corner last night? You know he did? He played snaps
- 18:05a corner in fact, he I thought that was interesting.
- 18:07And then The other one was was Quinna Mitchell. He
- 18:12followed Pickens a ton last night. Well, I'll have I'll
- 18:17have those breakdowns exactly how many I know Greg Cosell.
- 18:20I'm going to talk to Greg over the weekend. He'll
- 18:21give me those numbers. Vic. To his credit, he did
- 18:25what he said he was probably going to do at
- 18:26some point. I just didn't think it would be that
- 18:28many snaps. That's pretty interesting, all right.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Finally, maybe one of the biggest social media outries of
- 18:35the night was at Corner where Dory Jackson. Obviously there
- 18:38was seven targets for over one hundred yards. He had
- 18:41a rough night at the office. Bennett came in, but
- 18:43not because they thought Jackson was struggling because Jackson got hurt.
- 18:47I think he was getting a concussion check. Once he cleared,
- 18:51he was back on the field. But I thought Bennett, actually,
- 18:53did you know a decent job? He gave up three
- 18:56catches on three targets, but he came right up, closed
- 18:58nicely and made quick tackles. But what'd you do? And
- 19:01you just mentioned Dejean played some corner but overall that position,
- 19:05that's gonna be something to look at.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, look Eagles would rather not do it
- 19:11at corner because they wanted they wanted Ring go to work.
- 19:14It didn't work. It even play on defense. That kind
- 19:15of tells you where the coaches think of him. Uh,
- 19:18they they've they've tried Bennett. He's not ready yet. At
- 19:21least he wasn't. I mean he he had a penalty
- 19:22last night. I joked with our friends on discord for Patreon,
- 19:28like they could have called three penalties on him. He
- 19:29was overly aggressive. But that's what you want. Look, the
- 19:34in house guy would Bennett if it doesn't work, they
- 19:37stay in house. Vic may just say, listen, we gotta
- 19:40win games. We've got to play better corner. It could
- 19:42be the gene. I would not roll it out and well,
- 19:44look we know that we talked about this last year.
- 19:46They draft from the play corner. Doesn't mean you can't
- 19:48change your mind, and that's there. They got to they
- 19:51have an issue, Mike, these are you notice it? It's interesting.
- 19:54These are all issues brought over from March when Isaiah Rodgers,
- 19:57who you know, he signed with Minnesota. As we report
- 20:00at the time, though he had interested in coming back
- 20:02to Philly and Eagles had interested in him, he was going.
- 20:04He was looking to go somewhere he had a pretty
- 20:06good chance to start. And you know, if he would
- 20:09have come back to Philly, here's the problem. He had
- 20:11the genie factor. Who could have started a corner. You
- 20:14guys are gonna give Ringo shot, and he beat Ringo
- 20:16out last year. He didn't know, like for all, he
- 20:18knew that the Eagles could add another corner and he'd
- 20:20be out of lock. So he made a smart move
- 20:23go to Minnesota. He got some guaranteed money in year two,
- 20:25and then that was.
- 20:26Speaker 1: That, no doubt about it, all right. And then lastly,
- 20:29you take a look at the special teams last and
- 20:31I thought one big thing on the special teams was
- 20:33a fifty eight yard field goal by Jake Elliott last
- 20:36and that thing could have been good from maybe sixty
- 20:38eight yards.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't I don't think he was totally healthy
- 20:41last season. I know he went on the inch report,
- 20:43but he looked great and he had a good training camp.
- 20:47But how about braid Man was absolutely phenomenal. He he
- 20:50had and you would only know if you want to
- 20:52training camp. And I don't watch special teams a lot,
- 20:55but let me tell you something, Braidman. It was so
- 20:58obvious how well he was putting in training camp. So
- 21:00when I go to these camps, I don't usually watch punters,
- 21:04but there's sometimes when you know I've watched everything I
- 21:08want to watch. I mean, let me watch special teams. Look,
- 21:10you look great in training camp. He look great in
- 21:12the preseason. He is really good. He's taking his game.
- 21:14He was good for them before this season. Now we'll
- 21:17see how the rest of the season looks. But Mike,
- 21:19he looks really good. Right now.
- 21:21Speaker 1: All right, real quick, before we get out of here,
- 21:23we just talked about the breaking news Zadarius Smith is
- 21:27signing with Philadelphia. That's a one year deal and he
- 21:30will be in here. And Ben Van Schumer and has
- 21:33been placed on injured reserves, and it's like this season
- 21:36is likely over. But I will ask you, Adam, is
- 21:39the Carter thing over? He'll play next week or do
- 21:42you think that there will be more fallout from this?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Mike, I'd be surprised if he gets suspended. I just
- 21:48they're called what this is? What the way it's been
- 21:50explaining to me over the years with this stuff. They
- 21:53have video, this is what's called mitigating circumstances. Yes, this
- 21:57is not good sportsmanship. And I know again I'm not
- 22:00covering for Carter. He should not have. It's not retaliating.
- 22:05Prescott spit. Okay, whether he was spinning at Carter or
- 22:08not is not up to the league to say they
- 22:12saw it on tape. Prescott has had what he said,
- 22:16Carter reacted to it, and that's what happened. He should again,
- 22:19Carter should have done that. I can't imagine that he
- 22:21wouldn't get fined, knowing the way these things are, I
- 22:23expect least to find, but it would surprise me. I
- 22:26don't rule anything out unless some reports is all the
- 22:29leagues already decided. He's not gonna not gonna get suspended,
- 22:32but I'd be very surprised if it did. It did
- 22:35to me was poor sportsmanship. He didn't punch him, by
- 22:37the way, he didn't punch him, But you should never spit.
- 22:40That's bad sportsmanship. And that's where that's at all.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Right, Well, we'll keep an eye on that. I look
- 22:45at it like this too, real quick at him. You
- 22:47got Chief Chargers tonight, a full game of games on Sunday.
- 22:50This thing is probably gonna be over and done with,
- 22:54maybe by the game tonight, right, I mean, they might
- 22:56talk about the pregame, maybe halftime, but then you're talking
- 22:59about this game and then a full Sunday group of games.
- 23:02Who know, I don't want to say people are going
- 23:04to forget about it. I mean, I think it's a
- 23:07disgusting thing to spit on another human being.
- 23:09Speaker 2: But in the news cycle it's bad.
- 23:12Speaker 1: In the new cycle that you're in, this thing might
- 23:14get lost in the sauce by nine o'clock to night.
- 23:17Speaker 2: No, it's not gonna go way because it'll be on
- 23:19the Sunday morning shows. You know, they all have the
- 23:21reporters because I know when I covered League matters and
- 23:25I had to be on Sports Center Mike, I'm calling
- 23:28them because it's a big story. Like at anytime there's
- 23:30something like that, you got to know it's uh yeah,
- 23:33I'm sure. Well, I guarantee you all the guys that
- 23:37cover league nationally who got to be on TV, they're
- 23:39on it. Trust me on that. Then they'll absolutely have
- 23:41something on that.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan Inside the Birds and of course the Inside
