- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everybody. It's Jeff here. I wanted to let
- 0:02Speaker 1: you know. We recorded this Opposition Territory podcast on Wednesday,
- 0:06Speaker 1: February fifth, twenty twenty five. By the time you hear this,
- 0:09Speaker 1: some things may have changed here or there, but we
- 0:11Speaker 1: hope you enjoy the show. Welcome to Opposition Territory. Here
- 0:30Speaker 1: at the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running
- 0:33Speaker 1: weekly pill the sports podcast show in the world that's
- 0:36Speaker 1: right over eleven and a half years strong. We got
- 0:39Speaker 1: a great discussion coming your way. It is our last
- 0:41Speaker 1: Opposition Territory podcast that previews an Eagles game this coming season.
- 0:47Speaker 1: We are going to have a Super Bowl preview show,
- 0:49Speaker 1: of course that's going to be dropping this week, but
- 0:51Speaker 1: we're gonna be diving into this Kansas City Chiefs team
- 0:54Speaker 1: what we may see from them on the field during
- 0:56Speaker 1: this upcoming Super Bowl. We have got a great guest,
- 1:00Speaker 1: let's get right to it and joining us from Arrowheadpride
- 1:03Speaker 1: dot Com. He runs the ship over there, great great
- 1:06Speaker 1: SB Nation site. We've had him on before to get
- 1:09Speaker 1: into some Chiefs talk. We've got the one and only
- 1:11Speaker 1: Ron Copp Junior. How are you doing, buddy.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Jeff, I'm good again we're talking it just it's crazy
- 1:17Speaker 2: at AFCNFC matchup can happen so many times, four times
- 1:21Speaker 2: last four years. Yeah, we're here again and and I'm
- 1:24Speaker 2: excited for this matchup. Chiefs Eagles is always a great game.
- 1:27Speaker 2: All the storylines that Andy Reid, the Yep, There's so
- 1:29Speaker 2: many things that go into this Chiefs Eagles game.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Absolutely well. I wanted to start off our discussion ron
- 1:35Speaker 1: about a narrative that's been going around in certain circles
- 1:38Speaker 1: within Eagles Nation, and quite frankly, I'm getting a little
- 1:41Speaker 1: annoyed with it too. I really am that the that
- 1:43Speaker 1: the Eagles should not only win this game, but win
- 1:46Speaker 1: it handily, like possibly, like by double digits like that.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It is a narrative at least in my feeds online
- 1:54Speaker 1: that I am seeing, and I'm really annoyed by it
- 1:56Speaker 1: because we are Philly sports fans here and we know
- 1:59Speaker 1: what it's like to get the rug pulled out from
- 2:01Speaker 1: under us. You overthink things, and I just I can't
- 2:05Speaker 1: deal with it at the moment. So it's a narrative.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I just I hate that level of confidence actually heading
- 2:12Speaker 1: into this Super Bowl matchup. I mean, we're not seeing
- 2:14Speaker 1: it from Chiefs Nation quite frankly, and I'm getting a
- 2:17Speaker 1: little annoyed by it. Have you heard these rumblings as
- 2:20Speaker 1: well from maybe your little corners of Eagles Nation that
- 2:23Speaker 1: you may follow here and there, And if so, like,
- 2:25Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on, you know, which team may
- 2:27Speaker 1: actually have the edge coming into this game?
- 2:30Speaker 2: And you know, we're kind of getting used to it,
- 2:32Speaker 2: you know, in terms of you know, first of all,
- 2:35Speaker 2: I understand why Eagles fans are confident. I mean you
- 2:38Speaker 2: talk about, you know, the team they've put together this year,
- 2:40Speaker 2: talk about you kind of compared to the last Super Bowl,
- 2:42Speaker 2: you think, okay, you know, we still have all these
- 2:44Speaker 2: town of guys, and then we added Saquon too from
- 2:46Speaker 2: you know, and we put up thirty five on the
- 2:49Speaker 2: Chiefs that kind of thought process. But you know, we
- 2:52Speaker 2: are getting used to it in Chiefs Kingdom, where like
- 2:55Speaker 2: anyone who plays us feels like, you know, oh, they're
- 2:57Speaker 2: not playing that well or oh you know they right right,
- 2:59Speaker 2: they're They're just not you know, they're not the same
- 3:01Speaker 2: team they were, you know when Mahomes first came on
- 3:03Speaker 2: the scene, Like it is it's true that the Chiefs
- 3:06Speaker 2: just don't win in the style points way anymore. And
- 3:09Speaker 2: but they just keep winning.
- 3:10Speaker 1: So that's a great one. That was a great way
- 3:12Speaker 1: to look a great way to say it. The style points. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: that's a great way to look at it. Like, of
- 3:17Speaker 1: course they're winning games a lot by like single digit points,
- 3:20Speaker 1: but they're winning games like at the end of the day,
- 3:22Speaker 1: they're in the Super Bowl.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Well, and then you look at a team like the
- 3:25Speaker 2: Eagles that you know, obviously a great team overall, no
- 3:27Speaker 2: matter what, but they do win with style points like
- 3:29Speaker 2: a Saquon having freaking three sixty yard touchdowns and two
- 3:33Speaker 2: playoff games. I mean, you know, there is there is
- 3:35Speaker 2: something too where Yeah, it just feels like the Eagles
- 3:37Speaker 2: are maybe like the more talented team, but the Chiefs,
- 3:40Speaker 2: you know, the Chiefs have continued to flip that, you know,
- 3:43Speaker 2: every time they run into that narrative. So I'd caution
- 3:46Speaker 2: the confidence a little bit of Eagles fans, you know,
- 3:49Speaker 2: you know, Mahomes and company. But hey, you know, now
- 3:51Speaker 2: is this hurts in company second Super Bowl? So there
- 3:53Speaker 2: is something to that, and that's what makes it a
- 3:55Speaker 2: great game. That's why it's going to be a great man.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I think so too, really, I mean, there's something to
- 3:59Speaker 1: be said about what you just said is that the
- 4:02Speaker 1: Eagles actually have some experience now in this you know,
- 4:05Speaker 1: the Chiefs obviously have experience with regard to the Super Bowl,
- 4:08Speaker 1: the pressures, you know, what comes with it during the
- 4:11Speaker 1: week leading up to it, and how that wears on
- 4:14Speaker 1: various players and even coaches with the interviews, the constant
- 4:18Speaker 1: media attention. You know. Now, the Eagles do have that
- 4:21Speaker 1: experience a bit here. So well, we'll see how that,
- 4:24Speaker 1: you know, we'll see how that manifests itself on the field.
- 4:27Speaker 1: But I really want to get into the quarterbacks here
- 4:29Speaker 1: in this game that we have seen all season. Patrick Mahomes,
- 4:32Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts. Here. Mahomes is, of course the elite quarterback
- 4:36Speaker 1: of the NFL. There's no argument about it. He's just
- 4:40Speaker 1: in a league by himself and Jalen Hurts. He's a
- 4:44Speaker 1: very very, very good quarterback. I would not call him elite.
- 4:48Speaker 1: A lot in Eagles Nation, A lot of folks in
- 4:50Speaker 1: the Eagles Nation do not call him an elite quarterback.
- 4:53Speaker 1: But he isn't a traditional quarterback in the sense of
- 4:56Speaker 1: throwing the ball for three hundred yards, having two or
- 4:58Speaker 1: three touchdowns, passing within the course of a game. So
- 5:02Speaker 1: when you look at both quarterbacks, ron, how do you
- 5:06Speaker 1: assess what they're going to be bringing to both offenses? Here,
- 5:09Speaker 1: we can start with Mahomes since you you see him
- 5:11Speaker 1: week in and week out.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Well, I think it is interesting, you know, you talk
- 5:15Speaker 2: about you know, and Mahomes has earned the mantle of being,
- 5:17Speaker 2: you know, the elite of the elite. But yeah, you
- 5:20Speaker 2: look at you know, a year like this year where
- 5:22Speaker 2: you know, the statistics aren't there, you know, he wasn't
- 5:24Speaker 2: one of the best in the NFL when you look
- 5:26Speaker 2: at the raw statistics kind of the you know, the
- 5:28Speaker 2: way you you know, judge quarterbacks, and it just goes
- 5:31Speaker 2: back to the he's here because situational football. And that's
- 5:35Speaker 2: honestly where you know, I kind of compare Mahomes and
- 5:37Speaker 2: jail and hurt It's like both are just so dangerous
- 5:39Speaker 2: in their own ways, you know, in situations, right, you know,
- 5:42Speaker 2: I think the Chiefs third down, you know, you just
- 5:45Speaker 2: no matter what the third, ten, third and five, you know,
- 5:47Speaker 2: whatever it is. You know, Mahomes just knows how to
- 5:49Speaker 2: get those those yards. Know, whether it's with his legs,
- 5:52Speaker 2: with his arm. You know, Jalen Hurts has that ability
- 5:55Speaker 2: where yeah, if it's if it's third and six or so, like,
- 5:57Speaker 2: you still have the ability where you he can scramble
- 5:59Speaker 2: get the first down of self, they can run design
- 6:02Speaker 2: run with him.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yep.
- 6:03Speaker 2: You know there's so many layers to in the red
- 6:05Speaker 2: zone too. You know, that's another big situation part of
- 6:07Speaker 2: football where Hurts is really hard to stop in the
- 6:10Speaker 2: red zone because of what he has around him, but
- 6:11Speaker 2: also just because he can can do it himself and
- 6:14Speaker 2: it's hard to tackle. I mean, if you get a
- 6:16Speaker 2: shoulder into Hurts, you know you're probably going to be
- 6:18Speaker 2: taken two three yards of times, you know back you
- 6:20Speaker 2: know yourself. So yeah, that's where you know, you talk
- 6:23Speaker 2: about both these quarterbacks and how they just you know,
- 6:26Speaker 2: have brought these offenses to the point. Both their talented offenses.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Obviously both have guys that can make plays for them,
- 6:31Speaker 2: but you know, both quarterbacks just are so dangerous in
- 6:34Speaker 2: the situation's third down, fourth down, red zone. You know,
- 6:37Speaker 2: even two minutes. You know, it seems like obviously Mahomes
- 6:40Speaker 2: can can get to the field goal, but it does
- 6:42Speaker 2: seem like Jalen Hurts just knows how to give his
- 6:44Speaker 2: playermakers opportunities like AJ Brown you know down the field
- 6:47Speaker 2: or Dallas Godder, who you know ripped the Chiefs a
- 6:50Speaker 2: few times in the last Super Bowl. So you know,
- 6:52Speaker 2: I think both quarterbacks just you know, really excel in
- 6:55Speaker 2: the situation.
- 6:56Speaker 1: That's when I look at when I think about these
- 6:57Speaker 1: both quarterbacks, it's great points. It's great points round and
- 7:00Speaker 1: you know, these are two quarterbacks that are at the
- 7:03Speaker 1: top of their game right now. And I mean, like
- 7:06Speaker 1: you said, Patrick Mahomes, you know, not necessarily the greatest
- 7:09Speaker 1: statistical year that he has had, but at the end
- 7:12Speaker 1: of the day, again it really doesn't matter because he
- 7:15Speaker 1: is in the Super Bowl. He has helped lead this
- 7:17Speaker 1: offense to a Super Bowl and he's done it with
- 7:21Speaker 1: the passing game that the Chiefs have implemented this year
- 7:25Speaker 1: and also with regard to the rushing game too. And
- 7:28Speaker 1: I want to get into the rushing game here for
- 7:30Speaker 1: the Chiefs not necessarily the strongest area of the offense.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Many national analysts have said it's one of the weakest
- 7:37Speaker 1: areas on the Chiefs team overall. I mean, the Chiefs
- 7:40Speaker 1: end of the season twenty second in the league in rushing.
- 7:43Speaker 1: If I read certain articles correctly, how do you see
- 7:46Speaker 1: the Chiefs utilizing the rushing game in the Super Bowl
- 7:49Speaker 1: against this Eagles defense it's basically number one in the league.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it is going to be key in this
- 7:55Speaker 2: game because of the fact that the Eagles do have
- 7:58Speaker 2: this big Fangio D fence where they're going to funnel
- 8:01Speaker 2: you know, they want you to They're not going to
- 8:02Speaker 2: let you have, you know, some of the deeper stuff,
- 8:04Speaker 2: the intermediate stuff, and the Chiefs have been dealing with
- 8:06Speaker 2: that for a long time. So the quick passes are
- 8:09Speaker 2: going to be a big part of this game. But yeah,
- 8:10Speaker 2: they need the run game to be effective. And what
- 8:13Speaker 2: you've seen kind of down the stretch is since they
- 8:15Speaker 2: moved Joe Toney, you know, starting left guard to left tackle,
- 8:19Speaker 2: brought in you know, a second year player Mike Caliendo,
- 8:22Speaker 2: who certainly you know, has been the weak link of
- 8:23Speaker 2: the offensive line pretty clearly. You know, it's not like
- 8:27Speaker 2: you can see it. You know, they they've been overcoming
- 8:29Speaker 2: him kind of maybe getting you know, in the past
- 8:31Speaker 2: game especially, but in the run game, it's it's affecting, yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 2: how how much they're getting per run. That's why you
- 8:36Speaker 2: see they see them almost kind of back away from
- 8:39Speaker 2: the run game in these playoff games where they're just
- 8:41Speaker 2: throwing the ball a lot more quick passes. But you
- 8:44Speaker 2: did see in that Bills game, you saw them kind
- 8:46Speaker 2: of switch up how they run it. You know, there
- 8:48Speaker 2: are a lot of traditional zone runs, you know how
- 8:50Speaker 2: they usually do it. You saw them pull that guard
- 8:53Speaker 2: tackle counter where Trey Smith and Jowan Taylor, something they
- 8:56Speaker 2: never do, and that helped them score two touchdowns in
- 8:58Speaker 2: the red zone. Actually, so you know, I think the
- 9:01Speaker 2: main part of the run game is really that Kareem
- 9:04Speaker 2: Hunt has has become the lead back and they're trusting
- 9:06Speaker 2: him as that lead back. You know, he he he
- 9:09Speaker 2: was signed mid season and you know, I didn't know
- 9:12Speaker 2: how that would go necessarily, but he is showing, you know,
- 9:14Speaker 2: his veteran you know vision. You know, he has this
- 9:17Speaker 2: little wiggle that you know, he and he's bigger that
- 9:19Speaker 2: he can kind of fight through tackles. Right for Pacheco.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Pachecko broke his leg in like week two, and so
- 9:24Speaker 2: I think when he came back late in the regular season,
- 9:27Speaker 2: you know, I think the Chiefs were wanting to give
- 9:30Speaker 2: him his starting role back. But you know, you're seeing
- 9:32Speaker 2: that you know, breaking your leg is not going to
- 9:34Speaker 2: be easy to come back from it may not be
- 9:35Speaker 2: one hundred percent, and so I think they're trusting Karea
- 9:38Speaker 2: Hunt more and more as the playoffs have went on,
- 9:40Speaker 2: and I think he's the one that has to be
- 9:42Speaker 2: running against his Eagles defense. That again, yeah, they're going
- 9:45Speaker 2: to be allowing some of the shorter stuff underneath stuff,
- 9:47Speaker 2: but he's the kind of running back that can break
- 9:49Speaker 2: tackles and kind of you know, make the most of
- 9:51Speaker 2: the space that's allowed from the Eagles defense.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a it's a good point, and I think
- 9:56Speaker 1: that this Eagles defense, you know, not that they're going
- 9:59Speaker 1: to know exactly what Andy Reid's gonna be running. And
- 10:02Speaker 1: we're certainly gonna be seeing a trick play or two
- 10:05Speaker 1: in this game. You can better absolutely absolutely we know
- 10:08Speaker 1: that it's gonna happen for sure. But it's gonna be
- 10:11Speaker 1: interesting to see how the Chiefs utilize Kareem Hunt and
- 10:14Speaker 1: this rushing game early on to potentially you know, set
- 10:17Speaker 1: the tone here. But you know, I think if the
- 10:19Speaker 1: Chiefs are gonna win this game, as we're moving along here, Ron,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I mean, they're going to have to neutralize the Eagles
- 10:25Speaker 1: offensive line, and I'm I'm not sure that that actually
- 10:29Speaker 1: can or will happen. I'm not saying that to be
- 10:32Speaker 1: the homer here or anything on the Philadelphia Sports Table
- 10:35Speaker 1: podcast show. I mean, sure the Chiefs have some big
- 10:37Speaker 1: names up front with regard to their defensive front. Of course,
- 10:41Speaker 1: Chris Jones, he's a monster, He's a monster. I mean,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I do wonder if Spags is gonna have to blitz
- 10:48Speaker 1: Hurts like eighty five percent of the time to neutralize
- 10:51Speaker 1: perhaps the offensive line and just neutralize the Eagles offense. Here.
- 10:54Speaker 1: What are your thoughts about the Eagles offensive line and
- 10:58Speaker 1: really how the Chiefs defense defense might be able to
- 11:01Speaker 1: neutralize them if if it's even possible. What what do
- 11:03Speaker 1: you think?
- 11:04Speaker 2: Well, yeah, no, you're one hundred percent right where Spags.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Even this week he was talking in his press conference
- 11:09Speaker 2: how this is definitely the toughest challenge they've had as
- 11:11Speaker 2: a defense all year in terms of the run game,
- 11:13Speaker 2: in terms of the offensive line for the Eagles, you know,
- 11:16Speaker 2: because it isn't just saqu Is the the you know,
- 11:19Speaker 2: he he is the thing that is taking it to
- 11:21Speaker 2: another level. But this offensive line has always, you know,
- 11:24Speaker 2: been so so effective at opening up stuff up in
- 11:27Speaker 2: the run game, but also in past protection. And that's
- 11:29Speaker 2: where you're right, Stags is going to have to get creative,
- 11:31Speaker 2: and he's gonna he's had to be creative all year. Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 2: you know this foe man rush, four man rush the
- 11:37Speaker 2: Chiefs have. You know, they have a lot of pocket crushers.
- 11:41Speaker 2: They have a lot of guys that are going to
- 11:42Speaker 2: maybe make the pocket tight, but not necessarily you know,
- 11:45Speaker 2: just win and get you know, sacks. You know, they're
- 11:47Speaker 2: more of a pocket crushing team when they're just rushing
- 11:50Speaker 2: their traditional forwards Carloftus and forty yeah right, and and
- 11:56Speaker 2: Charles and many hue in the mix. But when they
- 11:59Speaker 2: get to those past, you know, they'll spread it out.
- 12:01Speaker 2: They'll try to find ways to shirt guys. And I
- 12:03Speaker 2: think it all starts with that interier of the Eagles
- 12:06Speaker 2: offensive line. I think the edges you're gonna have to say, look,
- 12:09Speaker 2: you know, brush the pocket as much as you can
- 12:11Speaker 2: from the edge, right. I just don't know if you're
- 12:13Speaker 2: gonna see much winning around the edge or you know,
- 12:16Speaker 2: much movement you know inside spins on guys like my
- 12:19Speaker 2: Latta and Lane Johnson. I mean, that's that's gonna be tough.
- 12:22Speaker 2: So I think it's all about maybe wasting those guys
- 12:24Speaker 2: trying to you know, get those guys maybe upfield as
- 12:27Speaker 2: much as possible, and then just doing as much as
- 12:29Speaker 2: you can to attack the guards and center combo. Obviously,
- 12:32Speaker 2: you guys have been banked up a little bit in there.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I know everyone's probably gonna be fine for a Super
- 12:36Speaker 2: Bowl matchup, you know, two weeks arrest and everything. But
- 12:39Speaker 2: I think that's the Chiefs only hope, you know, especially
- 12:41Speaker 2: on pass downs, is you know, whether it's twist, stunts, blitzing,
- 12:44Speaker 2: just you got to attack the guards and the centers
- 12:46Speaker 2: and see if you can get some inside rush on Hurts,
- 12:48Speaker 2: and those d ms will probably be playing contained, trying
- 12:51Speaker 2: to make sure Hurts doesn't beat them outside the pocket
- 12:53Speaker 2: and use his legs too much.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I was gonna say a lot of stunts and probably
- 12:56Speaker 1: bringing the linebackers up too to implement some of that
- 12:59Speaker 1: some of that strategy as well. It's gonna be man,
- 13:01Speaker 1: it's gonna be really interesting to watch this.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, but they do have to be careful and
- 13:05Speaker 2: I know you're gonna get into it, but I mean
- 13:07Speaker 2: some other teams they feel more comfortable. Hey, we can
- 13:10Speaker 2: send the house, but against a team like the Eagles
- 13:12Speaker 2: with a bunch of guys that can get the ball
- 13:14Speaker 2: in their hands pretty quickly, you do need to be
- 13:16Speaker 2: careful blitzing.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Absolutely seriously a slant route to Devonte Smith or aj Brown.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I mean that that could go for forty yards on
- 13:24Speaker 1: a play like that where you've got some blitzes and
- 13:26Speaker 1: some stunts where they're trying to neutralize the offense and
- 13:30Speaker 1: trying to you know, neutralize you know, the pocket in
- 13:33Speaker 1: general could be a disaster too. I mean, I do
- 13:36Speaker 1: I do think both teams secondaries, you know, as we
- 13:39Speaker 1: kind of move into like the defensive side of things here,
- 13:41Speaker 1: I do think both teams defensive secondaries here are also
- 13:46Speaker 1: gonna matter in terms of who wins this game. I mean,
- 13:48Speaker 1: the Eagles they may have the edge when it comes
- 13:51Speaker 1: to the cornerback and safety positions. But I'd really like
- 13:54Speaker 1: to hear from you and maybe give our listeners here
- 13:57Speaker 1: at PSD podcast show and I about what we can
- 14:00Speaker 1: expect from the Chiefs from the secondary. I mean, what
- 14:03Speaker 1: are the strengths and weaknesses of this Chief secondary that
- 14:06Speaker 1: we should be keeping our eyes on.
- 14:09Speaker 2: No, And I think it builds off the run game
- 14:12Speaker 2: point where yeah, like the Chiefs have to commit some
- 14:14Speaker 2: sort of you know, bodies to the run game or
- 14:17Speaker 2: have people near the line of scrimmage, yea. And so
- 14:19Speaker 2: they're gonna have to trust guys in the back end.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And and like like we said, you know, you have
- 14:23Speaker 2: to be careful about blitzing, but they will blitz. And
- 14:25Speaker 2: so they are going to be trusting these guys in
- 14:28Speaker 2: the back end. And it does start with a guy
- 14:30Speaker 2: like Trent McDuffie, who is certainly one of the stickiest
- 14:33Speaker 2: cornerbacks in the NFL, There's no doubt about it. He
- 14:35Speaker 2: does not allow much separation when he's one on one.
- 14:38Speaker 2: But at the same time, a guy like a J.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Brown that he you know, we've seen guys like Courtland Sutton,
- 14:44Speaker 2: you know, bigger receivers you know who still have you know,
- 14:47Speaker 2: they're they're bigger, but their elite receivers because they can
- 14:50Speaker 2: wiggle to their they're fast, to athletic to just like
- 14:52Speaker 2: AJ Brown. But the bigger guys, the guys that have size,
- 14:55Speaker 2: are the ones you know that give McDuffie trouble just
- 14:58Speaker 2: because he doesn't have the length to test them on
- 15:00Speaker 2: the sideline as well or down the field as well.
- 15:03Speaker 2: And yeah, Jalen Hurts is going to push that is
- 15:05Speaker 2: gonna is definitely gonna test that, I imagine. But you know,
- 15:08Speaker 2: behind that, you know, try mc guffy definitely matches up
- 15:11Speaker 2: better with Devonte Smith. So if the Chiefs feel like
- 15:13Speaker 2: they can go to those matchups more, they need to
- 15:16Speaker 2: trust these outside cornerbacks that have been kind of hit
- 15:19Speaker 2: or miss all year. It's been kind of a rotating
- 15:22Speaker 2: spot for them in terms of the guys behind McDuffie,
- 15:25Speaker 2: Jalen Watson, Joshua Williams both similar corners in terms of
- 15:28Speaker 2: physically built, you know, longer guys, guys that can compete
- 15:31Speaker 2: at the line of scrimmage and at the catch point.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And so they may say, hey, look, you know, we're
- 15:37Speaker 2: just gonna trust you to try to beat up AJ
- 15:38Speaker 2: Brown as much as you can, and you know, we'll
- 15:40Speaker 2: live with the fifty to fifty balls if they come down. Yeah,
- 15:42Speaker 2: But that's the thing is AJ Brown is much more
- 15:44Speaker 2: than a a downfield receiver. So that's where the slants
- 15:47Speaker 2: are going to be, you know, a big thing. So
- 15:50Speaker 2: it's a lot of health defense too, and they have
- 15:52Speaker 2: they do have some of one of the most instinctal
- 15:54Speaker 2: safeties in my opinion in the NFL. In terms of
- 15:56Speaker 2: Justin Reid, you know, he just plays such a he's
- 15:59Speaker 2: such a chess piece. You know, he kind of knows tendencies,
- 16:02Speaker 2: knows what to take away, and so he's going to
- 16:04Speaker 2: present problems over the middle for Jalen Hurts. But this
- 16:07Speaker 2: Chief defensive giving up a lot of yards and touchdowns
- 16:10Speaker 2: to tight ends this year, and so you know he
- 16:12Speaker 2: will be occupied with Dallas Goddard. But the linebackers too.
- 16:15Speaker 2: That's where I think the Chiefs they almost kind of
- 16:18Speaker 2: sacrifice the tight end sometimes because hey, we do have
- 16:21Speaker 2: to make sure we got everyone else covered and maybe
- 16:23Speaker 2: blits in. But you know, you don't want to you
- 16:26Speaker 2: don't want to do that too much against a guy
- 16:27Speaker 2: like Goddard, you know, where he can make the most
- 16:29Speaker 2: of plays, he can force mistackles. So there are a
- 16:33Speaker 2: lot of matchups in this game that you know, lean
- 16:35Speaker 2: towards the Eagles a little bit just because again, like
- 16:38Speaker 2: Trent McDuffie is a stud, but AJ Brown is kind
- 16:41Speaker 2: of the one kind type of receiver that can really
- 16:43Speaker 2: give him trouble. And so if you give him trouble,
- 16:45Speaker 2: the rest of the secondary can be a little shaky. Too.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's going to be interesting. You talk about
- 16:49Speaker 1: those fifty to fifty balls and it's just amazing how
- 16:53Speaker 1: you've got aj Brown who just goes up and he
- 16:55Speaker 1: gets them. I mean he had his first two drops
- 16:57Speaker 1: of the season in the playoffs against the ram. I
- 17:00Speaker 1: mean he hadn't dropped a ball all season up until
- 17:04Speaker 1: the playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams. So if
- 17:08Speaker 1: those fifty to fifty balls do become prevalent in this game,
- 17:11Speaker 1: it's gonna be interesting to see Trent McDuffie does with
- 17:15Speaker 1: those type of balls. But again, folks, we're talking to
- 17:17Speaker 1: Ron Cop Junior from Arrowheadpride dot com, great great SB
- 17:22Speaker 1: Nation site. Ron. Where can folks follow you out there
- 17:24Speaker 1: on the interwebs. I know you're on Twitter, slash x
- 17:27Speaker 1: and not sure if you're on Blue Sky or threads
- 17:29Speaker 1: or anything like that, So but throw out some stuff
- 17:31Speaker 1: where some folks can find you.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I'm still on x at ron in the score, Cop,
- 17:36Speaker 2: but I do have a Blue Sky account and need
- 17:38Speaker 2: to post there more. Yeah, post my story is there more?
- 17:41Speaker 2: So Yeah, follow me there same at and everything Ron
- 17:44Speaker 2: underscore Cop. But yeah, that's that's where the five Arrowheadpride
- 17:47Speaker 2: dot com. We're getting ready for this game, got tons
- 17:49Speaker 2: of stuff on the site ready to roll.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Nice. I'm on Blue Sky and Threads, and I'm forgetting
- 17:53Speaker 1: who I'm following. To be honest, I'm like, it's way
- 17:55Speaker 1: too much. It's way too much, right, Yeah, exactly, that's
- 17:59Speaker 1: the problem. Yeah, I'm not even sure if I'm following you.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I gotta go back and check after we get done here.
- 18:04Speaker 1: But anyway, before I let you go, buddy, you know,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I recently read a piece that you put up on
- 18:10Speaker 1: Arrowhead Pride about both the Eagles and the Chiefs culture
- 18:13Speaker 1: really being a huge reason why both teams have made
- 18:16Speaker 1: it to the Super Bowl here in twenty twenty five.
- 18:19Speaker 1: During the twenty twenty four twenty twenty five season. It
- 18:22Speaker 1: really seems that both teams culture can be felt from
- 18:26Speaker 1: the top down. As you wrote in that piece, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: regardless of how this game goes at the end of
- 18:32Speaker 1: the day, whoever wins, how do you see the culture
- 18:36Speaker 1: of both teams really heading into the future and really
- 18:39Speaker 1: what it means for both organizations.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Well, it was a kind of a cool piece to
- 18:43Speaker 2: wright because Mark Donovan is someone that spent time with
- 18:45Speaker 2: the Eagles organization in the front office for a while.
- 18:48Speaker 2: And it is funny he actually came over to the
- 18:50Speaker 2: Chiefs before Andy Reid did, and then they kind of,
- 18:52Speaker 2: you know, pair it up after that, and he's been
- 18:55Speaker 2: the president since twenty eleven of the Chiefs and you know,
- 18:58Speaker 2: just just it kind of just from reminds you of
- 19:01Speaker 2: the reasons why, you know, the great teams do get
- 19:03Speaker 2: to these points you know, multiple times maybe where which
- 19:06Speaker 2: both teams have in the same tenure. You know, there's
- 19:09Speaker 2: a lot of talented NFL players. There was a lot
- 19:11Speaker 2: of talented guys across the league, and you know, I
- 19:13Speaker 2: just talked about how my homes you know, wasn't even
- 19:15Speaker 2: one of the best statistical players in the NFL this year.
- 19:17Speaker 2: But you know, these these culture things, these these these
- 19:20Speaker 2: culture comes down to these great players. It spreads to
- 19:23Speaker 2: the role players, right, It spreads to guys that you
- 19:26Speaker 2: don't think maybe you know, you don't think to make
- 19:28Speaker 2: a play, and all of a sudden they do because
- 19:29Speaker 2: they're confident. Because you know, a great example of that
- 19:31Speaker 2: from the Chiefs run was Nico Romihio had you know,
- 19:34Speaker 2: a really big pup return this last week. He's a
- 19:37Speaker 2: is his first year, second year undrafted free agent, someone
- 19:40Speaker 2: that just shined in training camp has them as much
- 19:42Speaker 2: for the team. Travis Kelcey after he fair Catt in
- 19:45Speaker 2: the first one, was like, hey, dude, like, we're trying
- 19:47Speaker 2: to be great here, Like, you know, that's not great
- 19:48Speaker 2: fair catching that, And the next one he took forty
- 19:51Speaker 2: yards and set up a big play. You know, It's
- 19:54Speaker 2: culture does come from the top down, and both teams
- 19:57Speaker 2: have it from the front office, the coaches to the players,
- 19:59Speaker 2: and it really is there's no coincidence that both teams
- 20:03Speaker 2: are back here after a couple of years. Obviously the Chiefs,
- 20:06Speaker 2: you know, but just in terms of both teams, both cultures,
- 20:09Speaker 2: and I think there's no reason why we may not
- 20:12Speaker 2: see this matchup again, Jeff, I could see absolutely, we'll
- 20:15Speaker 2: see us talking sometime in the future as well.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely again, folks. Ron copp Junior from Arrowheadpride dot Com,
- 20:22Speaker 1: my friend, it was great talking to you. Thanks so
- 20:24Speaker 1: much for jumping on the Opposition Territory pod this week,

- 20:31Speaker 1: some examination of where the Chiefs are at after this
- 20:35Speaker 1: Super Bowl. I'd love to have you back, my friend.
