- 2:15SPEAKER_02: absolutely so sheba thank you you so much for having me here today.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: I love your vibe.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: I love your energy.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: So this is a pleasure, right?
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: This is very much a pleasure.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: So I'm just feeding off your energy right now because I haven't had any coffee yet.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: So I'm feeding off of your energy, literally.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: And I wake up like this.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, yes.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: So I love how you said, who are you?
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: I first want to say I am Lucy and Robert's youngest daughter.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: That's who I am, right?
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: I am, I've been known as the baby, right?
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: And I think there's something with that.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes, yes, yes.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: The baby, even until just when I used to take my parents to church before lockdown and my father would introduce me as, this is the baby.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Have you met the baby?
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: And I used to say, yep, I'm the 40 something year old baby.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: Who am I?
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: I am Buyanzi, and I'll tell you this, it's not the name I was born with, but it was the name that I was given.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Who am I?
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: I went to Kenya in 2017 because a friend who was more like a sister, her brother had passed away, just tragic.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: And so I went there as a surprise, first time to Kenya, first time to the motherland.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: And I got this name, Buyanzi, and this is how I got it.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: Her dad was like, We have to give her an African name.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: And one of her cousins said, We will call her Buyanzi because Buyanzi means love and love brought her here.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Who am I?
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: I am love.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: The other meaning of the name, if you ask another Kenyan who's of the Luya tribe, they'll also give an interpretation of the name meaning happiness.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: So who am I?
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: I am also happiness.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: So now with all that and giving you some context into who I am, all of this fits into my purpose and currently, so I can give you my formalized elevator pitch.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: I am Coach Buyanzi.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: I help Black women leaders to overcome the overwhelming uncertainty of what's next so that they can live in clarity and confidence in their next chapter.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: All of this brings about, I exercise my purpose in the work that I do, and I am helping Black With the focus on Black women leaders, I'm helping them to walk into their purpose in their next chapter.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: So I am from New York and New Jersey, New York, not the city, but Rockland County, a little bit outside of the city, Rockland County, New
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: York.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: And New Jersey.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: And right now I am on a divine detour in New Jersey because of some things that happened here.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: However, the place that after that being named love and being called love, that love also, what can I say?
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: It dug up a well inside of me that I didn't know that I had.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: And that was a desire to be in Kenya forever.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: and live there.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: So during the pandemic, I said goodbye to grown children, to parents, to siblings, to all friends, family, and I gave everything away, sold everything, and packed up with three suitcases and moved halfway across the world.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: Who am I?
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: I am a woman who has leaned into her passion, who walks in purpose, and who is always looking for opportunity to be in position to carry out that gift talents, the gift talents and abilities that I have been given by God.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: That is who I am.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: Wow, that is, I mean, there's so many people connections and so many connecting points that I'm just literally blown away, like literally.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: So we'll have to have a conversation after this, but for the sake of what we're here for, for the sake of time, you know, I know when I was doing some research, honestly, you know, about you, I noticed that there's an emphasis on Black leaders, Black women.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: And I wondered, I said, has she ever had any pushback, right?
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Because we're living in a society, right?
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: that is confined by confinement that has this desire for the lack of a better word to force you to be something and to do things that you may not necessarily want to do or it may not necessarily align but because you don't want to appear as a rebel, so to speak, right?
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: You know, you condition, you either water yourself down, you make decisions that don't really fulfill or align.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: And so share with us about that.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean, it's so bold.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: So share with us about that.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: And how does that even connect to purpose?
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: Let me start off this way.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: One, in the United States, one out of every three people black women feel that they are not empowered and supported to work through professional circumstances or professional problems that come up.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: They feel they are less supported than the average person, one out of every three.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: Another statistic I'll tell you, this was done by S&P Global that said between 1960 and 2019, if black women were put into more suitable positions for their skills, it would have boosted the American economy by over$500 billion in that period of time between that 1960 to 2019.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: The last thing I want to say is Black women, and I'm stating what is already the obvious, are underrepresented in leadership in corporate America.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Black women from micro aggressions about their hair through being paid less than white women.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: So a lot of times in the United States, we talk about equal pay, but even when you compare white women to black women, black women still make less than that unequal pay already.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: So why not?
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: Black women.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: Black women have in itself, the statistics tell you alone what Black women are going through, whether or not they're even aware of it.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: And I say that because a lot of us, have grown up here.
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: So some things we don't even think about anymore.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: We don't think about how we have to code switch as soon as we walk through the doors of that corporate environment, right?
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: Whether we're delivering, because a lot of times I was the outsider coming in, but how I had to change, but what that does to the body, even health wise.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: So have I gotten pushback?
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: However, when I talk about things like this, and I could go on and on about statistics and black women in the United States, then it becomes very evident and very clear that black women need support from black women as well.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: There's actually a recommendation in my LinkedIn profile.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: It's kind of far down, but another black woman leader at the time, she said, I didn't even know there were black coaches.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: Like she said that because, but she's talking based upon what she had been exposed to.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: So it is bold.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: I have received pushback.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: I am still unapologetic about my focus.
- 10:32SPEAKER_02: And does it mean that other people haven't come to me?
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: Other people still come to me because there is still my messaging, believe it or not, still has resonated with white women who I talk this talk.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: I don't hide it over here and hide it over here.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: I talk this talk.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: This is who I am.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: White women have still come to me.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: Men, go figure, have still come to me.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: Other people have still come to me because I can even tell you this.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: I have coached people on four continents.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: On four continents.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: So, of course, there's different types of people.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: However, my unapologetic focus is on Black women leaders.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: I hope that answers some of the question.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: And maybe I should say this as well.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: I'm going to say this out loud and I normally don't.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: It's something that is in my head and it makes sense.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: So brace yourself.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: So one of the things is growing up, how my affect is and how my behavior is, pretty much what you see is what you get.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: Like this is me laughing, joking, but also being serious within that.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: And because of my demeanor, I tend to have a more positive demeanor.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: People think, oh, so you don't have problems.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, so you're happy all the time.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: However, I'm a real person and I bleed if you cut me.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: And it's helped me also to figure out a process, not necessarily a process, but a sensitivity to understanding when Black women leaders come to me.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: So they can say things like, you know, everyone thinks like I have this facade, right?
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: That everyone thinks that it's perfect on purpose, perfect.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: And no, I don't feel anything.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: And I'm super woman.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: And we think we have to be.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: But I also think that sensitivity based upon how people have looked at me throughout my life, like there are no problems.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: You are okay.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: You don't ever suffer with anything else except happiness.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: That I get it.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: that I can resonate and be sensitive to that.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: And finally, I know, I thought I ended my answer two answers ago.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: However, this, I want to-
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: In the past, I got to close for the seventh time.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Come on, Flo, be you, girl, be you.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: I'm with you.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: I won't be before you long.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: But bear with me, you know, come on now, okay?
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, this is, come on.
- 13:09SPEAKER_02: That's always the cue.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: I come from the Black Charismatic Pentecostal Church.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: I want to be before you long is the cue that get your pillows ready because y'all going to be here all night.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: We're going to be here for a while.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: So I want to say this.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: I've always felt some sense of that I was supposed to empower people, exhort, empower people.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Of course, this went through an evolution, right?
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: And it comes to where I sit before you now as a transformational life coach.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: But that thing has always been in me.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: And it was cultivated indirectly by my mother who passed away just three months ago.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: However, I'm so happy to in part be living the legacy that it was nurtured by.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: And this is what I mean.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: My mother, for many years, women used to call her for counseling.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: She was doing this for free, okay?
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: On the phone, hours at a time, and took her work very seriously.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: Wouldn't tell us who it was.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: Maybe sometimes would talk to us as her daughters about situations to help us, right?
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: But kept it confidential, kept it serious, prayed, empowered these women, and...
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: I didn't realize it because it's never like she said, you guys should do what I'm doing.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: No, she never did that.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: She was in psychiatric nursing supervisor.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: So she already had a career and she never tried to enforce her career or force her career on us.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: But indirectly, I see this woman taking what she was doing voluntarily so serious in her empowerment of women.
- 14:55SPEAKER_02: And I just realized in my 40s, like, holy crap, I'm doing basically what my mom has done.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: And I didn't even realize that.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: So anyway, I'm walking in my purpose and also in the legacy of Lucy.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, Lucy, may your soul rest in power.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Not just peace, but power.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: And I'm telling you, the legacy is, it's amazing because by profession, I'm an early childhood educator, coach, and a lot.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: We're not even going to go into that.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: I don't really have time for that.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: But, and one of the main things that we always, and it's just kind of parenting in general, is that children, I'm telling you, you can speak until you're purple in your face, right?
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: The The only thing that really begins to take root, as they say, is what they see you do.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: That is the only thing that has the ability So really cement.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Because you can say one thing one day, second day, and it causes confusion.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: But what you do never lies.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: It never, ever lies.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: So for you to say that, I'm like, yeah, that was it.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: And even in her presence or not in her presence, it's almost like you were absorbing.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: You were absorbing over the course of this time.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: And now, boom.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: You know, so even some of those protocols, right?
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: And some of those procedures, you didn't even know, but it was being cemented.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: It was being cemented by like seeds, you know, sown.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Because a lot of times, let me not jump ahead of myself, right?
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Because it is funny because you already alluded to a lot.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: I'm telling you, the first thing I was going to ask you is how did you discover this?
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: And you started talking about it.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Second thing is, I was going to ask you, is purpose evolving?
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: And you literally use the word, and I'm like, no, I'm done.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: I'm done.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: Coach, no, I'm not doing this with you today.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: I'm not doing this with her today.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: I'm not doing this with her today.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: But I kid you not.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: I was going to, oh, who's your ideal client?
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: But like everything.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: And so I'm thinking to myself, okay, all right.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:02UNKNOWN: Okay.
- 17:02UNKNOWN: Nice.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: I still feel a little disconnected, but I'm going to go because I know, right, this is my source.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: And I heard the pastor, and you probably know him.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: He's from Christian Cultural Center.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: A.R.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Bernard.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Is that A.R.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Bernard?
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: A.R.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Bernard, yes.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: And he said something, I kid you not.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: So to date, I still quote it.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: What he said was, life, now just bear with me because over the course of time, I've changed a little bit.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: But what he said was, Purpose is fulfilling a need.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: He said, it's not like this magical boom, bang, shot.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: It's not duties.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: It's simply fulfilling a need.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Coach Bujanzi, when I tell you, I was like, what?
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: Because sometimes people, if there's something that they're not doing, like a physical practice or something like that, they have this idea that what am I here for?
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: What is my purpose?
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: What was I born for?
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: But if you shift from that duty type of fulfilling purpose and shift to simply fulfilling a need, you would discover that every single day, as long as you're intentional, you get what I'm trying to say, right?
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: But every single day, you're fulfilling a need, right?
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: So I have this thing and I never share this with anybody.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: No, one other person I share this with.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Every single time that I get paid, I mock a person and do something for them, right?
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, That's fulfilling a need.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: And that means that I'm fulfilling purpose, whether they express the need, whether they don't, and whether the need is from within them or whether the need is from within me, my ability to, I need to give because that's the only way I can be blessed.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: I need to, you know, support.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: I need to empower.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: I need to this and this.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: I'm going to stop speaking.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: I'm
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: receiving, by the way, I'm receiving it.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: You're speaking.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Thank you to me.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: I was just like, he said, you're fulfilling your, You're fulfilling purpose every single day, all day in some cases, you know, in some people, all day you're fulfilling your purpose, you know, and then it kind of, it just, I don't, then if I could say it kind of sharpens your vision, you know what I mean?
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: It sharpens your vision once you discover it.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: By fulfilling a need, boom, I'm fulfilling purpose.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: So it's not that I have to be the next Dr.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Martin Luther King, right?
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: He had a powerful global international movement, yeah?
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: It's not that I have to open up the biggest...
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: Like, it's everyday people.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: Ordinary people doing extraordinary things is fulfilling purpose.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: And so...
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: I need to hear your thoughts.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: You know, like I need to hear, I mean, you know, what are your thoughts?
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was seriously, it was, and those of you who are listening, I'm hoping, I know, I know for a fact that your life is being changed in this moment.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Seriously, if you've ever struggled with, you know, what am I here for?
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: What am I supposed to be doing?
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: What am I supposed to do next?
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: And I know this is, you know, your scope of work.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: What is this next step?
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: This is what's next.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: If you place it in your heart, in your soul, in your mind, in your spirit, to fulfill somebody else's need, emotionally, right?
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: Mentally, financially.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: I mean, you know, relationally, sometimes people just need you to sit down and have a cup of tea or a cup of coffee or a cup of, so, so listen, I want you to know, as long as your intention about doing that, you are fulfilling need.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: You are fulfilling your God given purpose of being on this earth because anything that we need, God is only going to do it through people.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: He's not going to get the tree.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, no, you know, no, no, but he's not going to get the rock, he is going to, he's going to give a command, if I can say, right?
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: Person to say, listen, coach who Yonzi all the way in Kenya needs you to connect, right?
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: or Sheba, right?
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: Need you to do this.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: It's this quiet voice that they always say.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: And in some cases, the loud voice or a medium tone voice, you know, but whatever your voice and whatever it sounds like to you, this is what purpose is about.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: And so I know we touch base on so many other things, but I just, but you know, when I spoke to you, I was like, this, this is, this can go deep, you know?
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: And if you have anything, you know, to share about that, Wow.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: First
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: of all, keep
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: going.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: I'm receiving.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: So I love what you're saying.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: I have so many thoughts.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: I actually, the way that you're giving me some nuance to, to that.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: And I love that.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: So even with what you're saying, there's a part of me that I want to sit with that for, for a minute, even
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: at this point is no, I kid you not coach has been, it's been 12 years that I've been sitting with that.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: I was like, wait, what?
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: Because it's people who have become best-selling authors, yeah?
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: They become, you know, I mean, you know, like they're accolades for creating books or literature or theories or anything around purpose.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, And like I said, I'm not saying that they don't have the place.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying that by no means.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: But when you go to the core, to the essence of purpose, you know what I mean?
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: So like I said, please, let me stop talking.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: Go ahead.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: No, I love it.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: And I'll just say this.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: I have a lot of thoughts, almost too many.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And I'm speaking slowly so I can get them out in a way that makes sense.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: So number one, I actually like...
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: I want to sit with some of what you've said, even when I listen to this podcast again, to even think about every, even when I'm sitting and I'm not necessarily interacting with people, right?
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: Because there's some days that I just don't interact with anyone all day.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: How am I?
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: And I'm happy for it.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: But anyway, it's because I enjoy just that quietness sometimes.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: But how, even on those days, what does it look like, right?
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: Because what does fulfilling...
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: purpose in those moments, in those days.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: So I actually want to sit with that.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: However, there was another thought, right?
- 24:03SPEAKER_02: Because I have like 9,000 thoughts that lead to certain ones.
- 24:07SPEAKER_02: So it may not seem related.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: However, when we talk about filling a need, so I want to go back to the word purpose, right?
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: When we think about purpose, we're thinking about one's mission in life.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 24:19SPEAKER_02: Some people may even call it ministry.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: How are you serving mankind or womankind or humankind?
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: And sometimes when we think about the word purpose, it can feel overwhelming.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Because you're like purpose.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: Oh gosh, purpose.
- 24:35SPEAKER_02: You know, it can feel like this.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: Remember like your senior year in high school or end of junior year going into senior year when they're starting to tell you, what are you going to be?
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: What's your major going to be?
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: As if while you're 17 or 18 years old, you must choose what you're going to be for the rest of your freaking life.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: So, right.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: But it's that feel and you're in education.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: So you understand that.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: that feeling of overwhelmed, but I transition it even to us as adults.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: When someone starts talking about purpose, sometimes it's easy to kind of pass it out and ignore it, not because we don't like it and we don't want it, but it can feel like an overwhelming thing.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: So now you say to fulfill a need.
- 25:20SPEAKER_02: So some people may get a little tense, right?
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: When you say that, well, what need am I fulfilling?
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: What am I going to do?
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: However, then what comes to me, because for me, In my evolution of purpose, one area that I don't talk about a lot, but eventually I will, is an area of healing.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: So my coaching is, there's healing.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: I had a God moment while watching The Woman King about the type of healing that I'm supposed to be doing.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: But that's me.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: And this has evolved.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: So what does that mean to those of you who are listening?
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: When you think about purpose, fulfilling a need, and maybe you're overwhelmed because you're saying, what is my mission in life?
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: So just indulge me, if you will, just for a moment, just to talk about the person we know, a historical figure that we know as King David.
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: So if anyone knows, I make reference to the Bible.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: And for those people who may be like, why is she making reference?
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: Because it is a historical secret text that is an anthology of books.
- 26:30SPEAKER_02: And there are a lot of historical figures that are there.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: And it is what I know and is what I make reference to.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: So King David, right?
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: Before we get to King David, we're introduced to him as a boy, not only just as a boy, but as a shepherd so much.
- 26:47SPEAKER_02: And he was the youngest of his brothers so much so that when I think it was Samuel came to anoint him, he, they forgot about him because they were like, well, you know, none of these guys are the Kings.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: They're like, oh yeah, there's the youngest one.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: He's out in the field being a shepherd.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: So look, David, at that time, he's anointed for king, but he didn't become king right then.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: He was fulfilling his purpose of being a shepherd.
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: So follow me here.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: So he gets anointed.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: So one day an opportunity comes up.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: There's a giant.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: His name is Goliath.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: And this boy named David comes in the mix.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: Now, hold on.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: He's a shepherd.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: He's living in his purpose as a shepherd.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: But what was he doing when he saw Goliath?
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: He said he basically says this.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: I have been wrestling with lions, tigers and bears.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, my.
- 27:50SPEAKER_02: This guy, he's speaking against my God like this is nothing.
- 27:54SPEAKER_02: I will kill you.
- 27:55SPEAKER_02: Literally, I will kill you and it'll be nothing to me.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: So now we know that David kills Goliath.
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: Now he fulfilled that purpose, but it was his first evolution of his purpose that got him prepared to then fulfill his purpose.
- 28:13SPEAKER_02: What then happens?
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: He gets the attention of the king and I'm going fast forwarding on this story, but eventually he's in the army, but he gets the attention of King Saul.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: Now he evolves in purpose from being a warrior, getting the king's attention to being Saul's right hand man.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Hold on.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Now he's fulfilling his purpose as the right-hand man and observing the king and being mentored by the king.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: And then therefore, and he's fulfilling his purpose right there.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: And then his purpose eventually evolves to where?
- 28:47SPEAKER_02: Becoming the king himself.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: So purpose is fulfilling a need.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Purpose evolves.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: And for those of you who sometimes hear that word purpose and you get overwhelmed, queen, I want you to rest assured that you can be living in your purpose and it can change and morph into something else.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: Purpose sometimes is preparation for your next.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: Excellent.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: That's excellent.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: I'm loving this.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: I'm loving this.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: I'm loving this.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: That was amazing.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: That was so amazing.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: That was so amazing.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, refresh it.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: I feel, I feel rejuvenated in this, you know, in this moment.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: So thank you so much coach for that.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: That was absolutely amazing.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: Now I know that you have an event today, right?
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: You have an event today.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: So share with us about the event, share with us if you have any future events coming up and then how can, how can the listeners, or if you have a woman said she had to be my coach.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: She has to be my coach.
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: How can they connect with you?
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: queen, how could they do that?
- 29:54SPEAKER_02: Well, I thank you just again for this opportunity.
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: Shiva, you are lovely and Shiva, indeed, you do empower.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: So thank you for your refreshing.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: So I have an event today.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: It's global.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: However, it's based out of Kenya because even though I've been on a divine detour here in the States, I still have my connection to Kenya and it is about self-love.
- 30:20SPEAKER_02: So I'm going to tell you, it's the first that she's having Her name is Carol Mandy.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: It's the first that she's having.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: However, there's been a demand for this.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: Self-love and self-care is something that we as queens are missing many times in our life because we're taking care of everything else and everyone else and not doing it.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: So today I will be- Right now, for those who are hearing me, for those who are resonating, for those who are saying, I know there's a what's next, but I don't have a clear vision, or I know my what's next, but I don't have the confidence.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: I know my passion, but I'm not leaning into it.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: I want to walk in purpose, but I'm not walking in it.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: I need to get into position for my next chapter, but I'm not doing it.
- 31:19SPEAKER_02: So those of you Black women leaders, you can get in touch with me really through LinkedIn.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: That's my mainstay right now, sliding into connect with me.
- 31:29SPEAKER_02: I always accept connections.

- 31:35SPEAKER_02: And let's have a 30-minute coaching strategy call to see if we are a good fit and a good match for one another.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: Also, oh, I should say this, but I don't know where you can get it, but I'll get details.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: But I am featured right now in a Tanzanian magazine called Bing, as well as I get a digital copy.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: I'll make sure I share how to get access to that.
- 32:01SPEAKER_02: So that's happening now.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: The Love Lounge is happening today.
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: And I am, I'm just, I'm here with you.
