- 0:00Speaker 1: I have a small list, a small one.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Okay, so there's only five things on.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Oh okay, well it's radio from Hell with another list,
- 0:09Speaker 1: because people love a good list. Nine six. We love
- 0:13Speaker 1: a small good list.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Yes, healthy people tend to follow a few simple morning
- 0:18Speaker 3: habits that most people skip. Not about perfection, but small,
- 0:22Speaker 3: consistent habits that quietly set the tone for better days.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Okay, okay.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Number one, they get bright light exposure early.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We don't get that, no, never. But I could put
- 0:36Speaker 1: a sun lamp in my office at home maybe.
- 0:38Speaker 3: But they're saying outdoor light is best, like even just
- 0:41Speaker 3: stepping outside in the morning and see.
- 0:43Speaker 1: But we don't yeh dark when I do that. Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 3: They drink sixteen ounces of water right away, right away, immediately.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Now I drink a lot of water.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I don't do sixteen outs.
- 0:55Speaker 3: That's a lot of water immediately. Research research studies showed
- 1:00Speaker 3: drinking that much water increase the metabolic rate by about
- 1:03Speaker 3: thirty percent.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So apparently peeing a lot is good for your health too.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it kickstarts your brain. Your brain is seventy five
- 1:10Speaker 3: percent water. When it's hydrated, it can work properly.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Sixteen ounces, Yeah.
- 1:15Speaker 2: That's a lot.
- 1:16Speaker 1: If you really pay attention, Just like in a quiet room,
- 1:20Speaker 1: if you shake your head just so you can actually
- 1:23Speaker 1: hear your brain kind of slashing around in all that water,
- 1:27Speaker 1: slashing around in the water. I know I can hear it.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Say something grateful out loud. This is great, this is
- 1:36Speaker 3: something else I can't do.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I'm glad, I'm glad, I woke up alive.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Can I say it in my head?
- 1:44Speaker 1: No? I can't say it aloud, Gina, They're not. If
- 1:48Speaker 1: you're downstairs in the kitchen, probably not.
- 1:52Speaker 2: No, you can hear totally hear.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So you don't want them to hear that you're grateful
- 1:56Speaker 1: about something? Is that?
- 1:57Speaker 3: What? Now?
- 1:58Speaker 1: What sort of thing are they talking about?
- 2:00Speaker 3: So gratitude is specific health benefits worth enjoying every morning.
- 2:03Speaker 3: A gratitude researcher, doctor Robi Evans, has scientifically proven a
- 2:08Speaker 3: link between gratitude and happiness, and an experimental comparison, those
- 2:12Speaker 3: who keep gratitude journals exercise regularly reported pure symptoms better health.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Do I do that every morning?
- 2:19Speaker 3: You do?
- 2:19Speaker 2: You're right? In a gratitude journal.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I know I say something out loud, like this morning,
- 2:24Speaker 1: I said, I'm sure glad that that guy passed on
- 2:26Speaker 1: the street yesterday, didn't stab me.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I guess you're great.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'm great for that.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Sure, they meditate for at least five minutes. Now I
- 2:34Speaker 3: would just go back to sleep.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the problem with meditating. See.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I would like to try meditating, but I will fall asleep.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I used to go with Brad once a week.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Brad Wheeler to the zendo.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Zendo and do some meditations, and I would almost always
- 2:52Speaker 1: fall asleep.
- 2:53Speaker 2: They say meditation.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Experts have long recommended you begin your day with meditation.
- 2:58Speaker 3: It's referred to as the time you are close to.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Your source, your source of what.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Maybe maybe you're supposed to do it next to the
- 3:05Speaker 1: coffee pot. Huh.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I just don't think I could. And then number five
- 3:12Speaker 3: they move their body even a little. One study published
- 3:16Speaker 3: in Medicine and Science Sports found big benefits to people
- 3:20Speaker 3: who work out immediately after they wake up.
- 3:23Speaker 1: So is that you say move your body even a little,
- 3:25Speaker 1: So does it count Like I sit down on the
- 3:28Speaker 1: toilet and then I stand up when I'm done, that's
- 3:32Speaker 1: a little bit of that's a movement, and it's a
- 3:34Speaker 1: little bit of physical movement as well.
- 3:36Speaker 2: So in this one, I like to in the morning.
- 3:41Speaker 3: When I get up, I have a little round of
- 3:46Speaker 3: yoga stretches that.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I like to do. Yeah, I got there. I got
- 3:50Speaker 2: a downward dog.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I do a little cat cow where you are your
- 3:57Speaker 3: back and then you.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Do this, do that.
- 4:00Speaker 2: It feels good.
- 4:01Speaker 1: That's what your family hear you doing.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Well, So I mean I I think I can do
- 4:06Speaker 3: it quietly. I go out into the hall, so not
- 4:12Speaker 3: in the bedroom because Joe's sleeping, go out into the hall.
- 4:16Speaker 2: But then when I'm in the hall, the dogs can
- 4:18Speaker 2: hear me. Ah, because so even if.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I don't say my gratitude out loud, even if all
- 4:24Speaker 3: I'm doing is little yoga stretches that I'm not Are.
- 4:29Speaker 1: You worried you're disturbing the dogs?
- 4:31Speaker 2: No, But they wake up and once they think, okay,
- 4:33Speaker 2: we're up. Carrie knows what I'm talking about. I can't
- 4:38Speaker 2: do though.
- 4:39Speaker 3: They're they're up, They're they're ready to go outside, they're
- 4:42Speaker 3: ready to they want to treat they the day has started.
- 4:45Speaker 1: You can't you do your yoga stretches in the sitting room.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Uh?
- 4:51Speaker 3: Well, no, I mean that that wouldn't matter there wherever
- 4:56Speaker 3: I would do them, they hear that I'm lock.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Them in the garage.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So I would like to be able to do that.
- 5:03Speaker 3: But and sometimes the dogs will hear me up getting
- 5:07Speaker 3: ready for work and they'll be like whining and wanting things,
- 5:10Speaker 3: and I'm like, I.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Will deal with you when I'm done getting ready.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So pretty much you have an excuse for not doing
- 5:17Speaker 1: any of those kind of yeah, you have an excuse
- 5:21Speaker 1: tailor made for each one of those I wish.
- 5:25Speaker 3: So last night I went to bed and I put
- 5:28Speaker 3: earplugs in like I always do, because you said, can't
- 5:32Speaker 3: you go down in the kitchen and say you're grudged?
- 5:34Speaker 3: The way our house is it's just echoey. I can
- 5:37Speaker 3: even hear, you know, just walking around.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I've been in Gina's house, and the reason it's echoe
- 5:43Speaker 1: is there's absolutely no furniture and no carpeting. It's just
- 5:47Speaker 1: like it's almost like a living in a warehouse.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It's clean. My house is cleaning.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Speaking of that, I did another thing over the weekend
- 5:58Speaker 3: called house hushing.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Remind me what this is. I've heard the term.
- 6:03Speaker 3: So it's it's thought that if you have a lot
- 6:07Speaker 3: of clutter, a lot of things, it's noisy, meaning mental noise,
- 6:13Speaker 3: like you're seeing a lot of clutter, Like like I'm like,
- 6:17Speaker 3: so we're redoing the studio here, and behind me there's
- 6:19Speaker 3: a bunch of pictures and they're just kind of on
- 6:21Speaker 3: the wall and in a stag and you look at
- 6:23Speaker 3: that and there's something unsettling about it, like that needs
- 6:27Speaker 3: to be taken care of. So house hushing means you
- 6:30Speaker 3: go through your house mm now now to really do it,
- 6:34Speaker 3: They say, you take all the clutter to what Bill
- 6:38Speaker 3: is saying, my house, there's like nothing in it, like
- 6:40Speaker 3: all the knickknacks, anything that's stacked on a shelf, anything
- 6:45Speaker 3: that's on your dining room table, and you put it
- 6:48Speaker 3: all like in a spare bedroom, okay, and then just
- 6:51Speaker 3: slowly over time bring just a few things back out
- 6:55Speaker 3: that you really need, and then some of that stuff
- 6:58Speaker 3: you're never going to want to bring out, that's the
- 7:00Speaker 3: stuff you should.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I think what you can do is you can put
- 7:03Speaker 1: it all in a spare bedroom and then just periodically
- 7:05Speaker 1: go sit in that room. Oh, here's all that stuff.
- 7:09Speaker 3: But it's a good exercise because really, when you're sitting
- 7:12Speaker 3: in a room that doesn't have anything in it other
- 7:15Speaker 3: than it precisely what you need to be in there,
- 7:18Speaker 3: there's a calmness.
- 7:20Speaker 1: But there's a there. There is something to be said
- 7:23Speaker 1: for charming clutter, you know what I mean? Like, yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 1: like you'll see in movies or in pictures and books,
- 7:32Speaker 1: you know, like somebody's study and it's books stacked around everywhere,
- 7:36Speaker 1: you know, and uh, and there are papers on the
- 7:39Speaker 1: desk and it looks lived in and uh, it's it's
- 7:43Speaker 1: a place for where anything. You can grab anything, you know,
- 7:47Speaker 1: a book. Anything's possible, any thought is possible.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I guess I can. I mean, you know what I mean.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of like a little clutter.
- 7:57Speaker 3: I pulled so when I was reading about house hushing
- 8:00Speaker 3: over the weekend.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I started with the reading room bill.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Which you referenced earlier, and I I pulled all every
- 8:09Speaker 3: book off the bookshelf and dusted it and uh and
- 8:13Speaker 3: I got rid of about twenty books, some taking him
- 8:17Speaker 3: and donating them.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It felt good.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Now I just want to be in that room. I
- 8:21Speaker 2: don't want to be in any other room.
- 8:23Speaker 1: You're you're one of those people that that went like
- 8:26Speaker 1: your husband comes home from work and and he goes, hey, hey,
- 8:31Speaker 1: where was that? Where where's that that?
- 8:34Speaker 3: Uh?
- 8:35Speaker 1: I don't know, some knick knack. Where's that little statue
- 8:38Speaker 1: that I had of a of a of the Yeah,
- 8:43Speaker 1: okay that or the egypt I had a little Egyptian
- 8:46Speaker 1: pharaoh statue? Where where'd that go? Oh? I, well, I
- 8:50Speaker 1: just got I got rid of it. Has have you done?
- 8:54Speaker 1: Has he that happened something similar to that? Where he
- 8:56Speaker 1: said what you what? You got rid of that? That
- 8:58Speaker 1: I wanted that?
- 8:59Speaker 3: No, because he's he's all for the uncluttering.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I've done it.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I've gotten rid of my kids stuff before. Oh, probably
- 9:07Speaker 2: shouldn't have. I've done that. But no, I I probably
- 9:13Speaker 2: get rid of too much.
- 9:14Speaker 1: You're the It's that's the reason I've never let you
- 9:16Speaker 1: inside my house.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I'll take.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You would just.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Start to bring a garbage bag and I'll walk around.
- 9:23Speaker 3: You probably have some of my stuff because I take
- 9:26Speaker 3: it to the d I, and then your wife likes
- 9:29Speaker 3: to shop at the d I, So I bet you
- 9:30Speaker 3: have some of my stuff.
- 9:32Speaker 1: This attractive shirt I'm wearing came from the d Have
- 9:38Speaker 1: any suit jackets with those elbow on the lease might
- 9:45Speaker 1: be my husband, because because I would never wear one
- 9:48Speaker 1: of those, but.
- 9:50Speaker 2: House hushing try it?
- 9:52Speaker 1: And what's the death? Oh?
- 9:56Speaker 2: Death cleaning, death cleaning, is a whole clean. It's very similar.
- 10:00Speaker 1: That's it.
- 10:01Speaker 3: It's similar if you have ever had to go through
- 10:04Speaker 3: a family member's stuff after they die, and you think,
- 10:08Speaker 3: why didn't they get rid of some of this stuff when.
- 10:10Speaker 2: They were alive? Do that? Do that now so your
- 10:15Speaker 2: family doesn't have to go.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Through Now you're not advocating killing that family member.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Oh no, okay, go through your crap now so your
- 10:23Speaker 3: family doesn't have to do it, and they'll hate you
- 10:26Speaker 3: later because they have to do it.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I don't know. That family member just sits in the
- 10:30Speaker 1: reading room. Maybe I get rid of you. Maybe maybe
- 10:33Speaker 1: the energy will come back if I get rid. So
- 10:37Speaker 1: all right, is that it? That's the list. Yeah, we
- 10:40Speaker 1: hope you'd enjoyed.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Another list with Radio from Hell on X ninety six
