Big change for American Tobacco Trail riders and runners: a major section between White Oak Creek Greenway and Wimberly Road parking area is shut down starting Sept. 2 due to landslide damage from Hurricane Helene. Crews are rebuilding the bank, installing new drainage, and expect the closure to last through October. Alternate access points include New Hill–Olive Chapel, White Oak Church Road, and New Hope Church Road parking areas. Wake County’s team is racing to finish safely after pushing back the start date.
