Latest / Foul Territory / Ohio’s WILD chase ride: Tom Hamilton talks Guards, Rosecrans on Reds
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Tom Hadmileton is a longtime Cleveland Guardians radio broadcaster. He's
- 0:06Speaker 1: a legend. He's one of the best in the base.
- 0:07Speaker 1: He's joining us right now on FT Tom. Great to
- 0:10Speaker 1: have you back on the show. We really appreciate the
- 0:12Speaker 1: time and look forward to these chats. What do you
- 0:14Speaker 1: have for us on how crazy the current situation is
- 0:18Speaker 1: for Cleveland?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Well, great to be with you, Thanks, Scott, AJ and Eric.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I mean, this makes no sense, this is unbelievable. I mean,
- 0:32Speaker 2: September fourth, this club was two games under five hundred,
- 0:37Speaker 2: eleven and a half games out of first. That's September fourth,
- 0:41Speaker 2: and in two and a half weeks now. They did
- 0:44Speaker 2: lose yesterday in Minneapolis, but the club has gone fifteen
- 0:48Speaker 2: and two and they're one game out and they go
- 0:51Speaker 2: ahead to head with the Detroit Tigers, the team they're
- 0:53Speaker 2: chasing tomorrow night, Wednesday night, Thursday night. If the playoffs
- 0:58Speaker 2: were to begin today, Cleveland would be in as the
- 1:02Speaker 2: number three wildcard team because they own the tiebreaker over
- 1:05Speaker 2: the Houston Astros. And you know, the old adage that
- 1:10Speaker 2: this is why you play one hundred and sixty two
- 1:13Speaker 2: couldn't be more appropriate than it is for this ball
- 1:16Speaker 2: club right now. But did anyone see this coming? Absolutely not.
- 1:21Speaker 2: But when you have a pitching staff that now has
- 1:25Speaker 2: gone seventeen consecutive games in which the starter has not
- 1:30Speaker 2: given up more than two runs, that's how you have
- 1:33Speaker 2: this kind of historic month.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Tom Yes, first off, let's go through now looking forward
- 1:46Speaker 1: the rest of the games for Cleveland laid out for us,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and kind of way the percentage chance of how this
- 1:52Speaker 1: actually becomes a reality for them, starting with essentially a
- 1:55Speaker 1: playoff series against Detroit.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Well, I mean, they've basically they have like they're in
- 2:00Speaker 2: the playoffs since this month began, and they swept the
- 2:04Speaker 2: Tigers last week. They didn't beat Trek Scuobel, but they
- 2:08Speaker 2: won the game on Thursday that Schooble pitched and he
- 2:10Speaker 2: gave up one run at six innings. Tigers have moved
- 2:13Speaker 2: him up. He is still going to have his four
- 2:16Speaker 2: days rest, but he is pitching Tomorrow night. That way
- 2:19Speaker 2: he is able to pitch on Sunday if the Tigers
- 2:22Speaker 2: have to win that ballgame to get into postseason. Gavin Williams,
- 2:26Speaker 2: who's been one of the most dominant pitchers in the
- 2:29Speaker 2: American League that probably nobody really realizes since the All
- 2:33Speaker 2: Star break, he goes for Cleveland tomorrow night. I mean, look,
- 2:37Speaker 2: the only way Cleveland can win these games is if
- 2:40Speaker 2: they continue to get dominant starting pitching. Because they're not
- 2:44Speaker 2: scoring many runs. They haven't during this stretch. That is
- 2:47Speaker 2: not going to change. I mean I would be stunned
- 2:50Speaker 2: if at any point in the three games Jose Ramirez
- 2:54Speaker 2: gets anything to hit. I don't care what the score is,
- 2:57Speaker 2: and I don't think it matters what the situation is.
- 3:00Speaker 2: He's the one guy. If you're a j Hinch, you're
- 3:03Speaker 2: going to say, I don't care if it's a scoreless
- 3:06Speaker 2: game in the third inning. We're not pitching to him.
- 3:09Speaker 2: So you know it can continue. That. Can Cleveland continue
- 3:14Speaker 2: to do this? I don't know. It seems hard to
- 3:16Speaker 2: believe you could keep it up, but why not? I
- 3:19Speaker 2: also wonder if today is a reset day for the Tigers.
- 3:22Speaker 2: You know, they got swept at home by Cleveland and Atlanta.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Maybe they needed this off day to realize, hey, we're
- 3:28Speaker 2: still in first place and maybe we'll see a different
- 3:31Speaker 2: ball club tomorrow night. But they looked awfully tight, and
- 3:35Speaker 2: you saw a lot of frustration last week when Cleveland
- 3:38Speaker 2: swept those three games. And then you've got Texas. You know,
- 3:41Speaker 2: the season doesn't end no matter how you do against Detroit.
- 3:46Speaker 2: You can't let Texas come in here. Texas won't have
- 3:48Speaker 2: anything to play for, but that's still a pretty darn
- 3:51Speaker 2: good ball club.
- 3:54Speaker 3: You have to score a run to win the game.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Contrary to other baseball historians, even if this pitching staff
- 4:01Speaker 3: continues to do what they're doing, who will step up?
- 4:04Speaker 3: If the Tigers take the mantra of Jose Ramirez is
- 4:07Speaker 3: not going to beat us. Who can step up in
- 4:10Speaker 3: this lineup? I think there's only one other guy with
- 4:13Speaker 3: an OPS over one hundred OPS plus over one hundred
- 4:18Speaker 3: besides Jose Ramirez. I know bow Naylor is hot right now,
- 4:20Speaker 3: but they're not going to move him to be Jose
- 4:23Speaker 3: Ramirez's protection, right No.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I mean, Stephen Kwan has to keep being Stephen Kwan.
- 4:29Speaker 2: He's had a really good month of September, which is
- 4:32Speaker 2: kind of the norm for him in his four years
- 4:35Speaker 2: in the major leagues. To your point, Eric bow Naylor
- 4:38Speaker 2: had about as good a road trip as you could
- 4:41Speaker 2: have as a catcher, catching a shutout, hitting two home
- 4:44Speaker 2: runs in one game up in Minneapolis. Well, catching a
- 4:47Speaker 2: shutout as you know, as a catcher, it doesn't get
- 4:50Speaker 2: any better than that. They just have to get contributions
- 4:54Speaker 2: from everybody. You know, Kyle Mansardo has had a nice year.
- 4:58Speaker 2: They need him to get it going again. I just
- 5:01Speaker 2: think when you look at this ball club, look it.
- 5:04Speaker 2: You know there are two guys you circle Stephen Kwan
- 5:07Speaker 2: and Jose Ramirez when you're the opponent, and you say,
- 5:11Speaker 2: those two guys can't beat us. So it's going to
- 5:13Speaker 2: be up to these young kids to see if they
- 5:15Speaker 2: can keep doing it. You know, I don't think it's
- 5:18Speaker 2: any secret that this is an offensively challenged ball club.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And when they score four runs a game, that's a
- 5:25Speaker 2: big night.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Are the fans going to come out before we delve
- 5:29Speaker 3: into any more of the bullpen or anything like that.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Well the fan this do Cleveland fans know this is
- 5:35Speaker 3: happening and how big of a series this is?
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Probably didn't help that the Browns stunned the Green
- 5:42Speaker 2: Bay Packers. And I'm from Wisconsin, so I'm in mourning
- 5:46Speaker 2: yet today. I don't know, you know, talk about miracles
- 5:49Speaker 2: Brown's winning a game and beating Green Bay. But that's
- 5:51Speaker 2: a story for another day. But I hope they do
- 5:55Speaker 2: you know. I mean, it's been a good year as
- 5:57Speaker 2: far as attendance is concerned. But I think this has
- 6:01Speaker 2: caught everybody by surprise when you look at what this
- 6:04Speaker 2: club has done this month. So you know, A what, Eric.
- 6:07Speaker 2: When it comes to fans, I've given up trying to
- 6:09Speaker 2: predict what they're going to do or not do. If
- 6:12Speaker 2: they can't enjoy this, you know, that's on them. I'm
- 6:15Speaker 2: just I can't believe we're having this kind of relevant
- 6:18Speaker 2: baseball with what this club has gone through, not only
- 6:23Speaker 2: losing a ten, had a ten game losing streak in July,
- 6:26Speaker 2: lost nine out of ten in August. We're fifteen and
- 6:30Speaker 2: a half games out in July. And oh yeah, by
- 6:33Speaker 2: the way, you lose one of your top starters, Luis Ortiz,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and the most dominant closer in the game, Immanuel classe A,
- 6:40Speaker 2: for what we all know is a gambling probe. And
- 6:44Speaker 2: yet this ball club's overcome that. It's remarkable.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Hey May, when I was there ten days ago or so,
- 6:51Speaker 4: Steve asked even vote, what's going on? He said, this
- 6:53Speaker 4: team just doesn't quit. They play twenty seven outs. He
- 6:56Speaker 4: gave all the cliches, but there's got to be something
- 6:58Speaker 4: more that Steven Vote does for this team. I mean,
- 7:02Speaker 4: because you know, you look at them on paper and
- 7:03Speaker 4: you say, all right, there's the offense is going to
- 7:04Speaker 4: come from. There's a lot of pitchers that nobody's ever
- 7:07Speaker 4: heard of, including Kate Smith at the back end of
- 7:09Speaker 4: the bullpen and some of the other guys, Hunter Gaddis
- 7:12Speaker 4: and some of the other guys. So what does Stephen
- 7:14Speaker 4: Vote bring to the table that makes this team go?
- 7:17Speaker 4: And can you win Manager of the Year like Pat
- 7:19Speaker 4: Murphy has a chance to do back to back years.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I sure think so. Aja. There are an
- 7:26Speaker 2: awful lot of similarities with Steven Vote and Tito, and
- 7:30Speaker 2: that's not fair to either guy because Tito's resume has
- 7:34Speaker 2: got him set up for the Hall of Fame. We
- 7:36Speaker 2: all know that. I don't think the game has ever
- 7:38Speaker 2: had a better manager than Tito. But in some ways,
- 7:42Speaker 2: there's a lot of similarities, and it starts with I
- 7:45Speaker 2: think Steven Vote, like Tito, they're at their very best
- 7:50Speaker 2: when the ball club's at its very bottom or at
- 7:53Speaker 2: its worst moments. There's no panic from that office. And
- 7:58Speaker 2: as you guys know that played, you know, you take
- 8:01Speaker 2: the lead from your guy. If you see your guy
- 8:05Speaker 2: throwing stuff in the dugout and visibly being upset when
- 8:08Speaker 2: a guy strikes out or showing panic. Players see that.
- 8:13Speaker 2: They pick up on that you can't fool players. But
- 8:16Speaker 2: Tito and Voter have that similarity in that they don't panic.
- 8:22Speaker 2: They're at their best when the club is struggling. And
- 8:24Speaker 2: then I still think it goes back to number eleven.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Justin Moreno made a great point yesterday we were in Minneapolis,
- 8:31Speaker 2: and the longtime Minnesota twin who's now doing television for
- 8:35Speaker 2: the Twins, pointed out how on Saturday night, when Cleveland
- 8:40Speaker 2: had back to back shutouts in that day night doubleheader
- 8:44Speaker 2: and we're beating Minnesota eight to nothing. On Saturday night,
- 8:48Speaker 2: Voter took Stephen Kwan and Jose Ramirez out of the
- 8:53Speaker 2: ball game with a couple of innings to go, and
- 8:57Speaker 2: Justin Morna on Sunday pointed out how he made sure
- 9:00Speaker 2: to watch and that Stephen Kwan and Jose Ramirez never
- 9:05Speaker 2: left the top step of the dugout. He said, a
- 9:07Speaker 2: lot of times I saw I've seen a veteran get
- 9:11Speaker 2: taken out of the game and he's back up the
- 9:13Speaker 2: tunnel to the clubhouse and getting something to eat or
- 9:16Speaker 2: relaxing or whatnot. He's done his job. He goes. When
- 9:20Speaker 2: you see that guy jose Ramere is still engaged with
- 9:23Speaker 2: his teammates watching that ball game with two innings to go,
- 9:28Speaker 2: that's been decided, he said, you have no idea unless
- 9:32Speaker 2: you're a player. What That then sends the message to
- 9:36Speaker 2: the young kids when that guy is fully engaged like that,
- 9:39Speaker 2: And boy, guys, aren't many players like that in the game.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And I think that has been part of why this
- 9:45Speaker 2: club is as special as they are. Look without jose
- 9:49Speaker 2: A Rameres, this ball club is in the lottery for
- 9:53Speaker 2: the number one pick in the draft.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's one of the best moves they made was
- 9:58Speaker 1: getting him to sign that long term extension. Of course,
- 10:00Speaker 1: him agreeing to that long term extension and not testing
- 10:03Speaker 1: out free agent waters where I'm sure he would have
- 10:06Speaker 1: been paid more krats. Let's talk about Omaha steaks, and
- 10:10Speaker 1: it's not just steaks, it's chicken winnings, it's smash burgers,
- 10:14Speaker 1: big Deli style franks. There are a number of categories
- 10:18Speaker 1: that you can hit all in one place. They've been
- 10:20Speaker 1: doing it for a long time.
- 10:21Speaker 5: They're the best of the biz. And if you got
- 10:23Speaker 5: a good full a life's good man.
- 10:26Speaker 3: But you gotta finish every meal with some delectable desserts too.
- 10:29Speaker 3: They have those too to go along with these delicious steaks.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Apple caramel tarts on the list, among many other menu
- 10:38Speaker 1: items to check out. Be the hero that orders Omaha
- 10:41Speaker 1: Steaks and is the most popular person in your household,
- 10:45Speaker 1: So get fired up for fall grilling with Omaha Steaks.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Visit Omaha Steaks dot com for fifty percent off site
- 10:51Speaker 1: wide during their red Hot Sale event, and for an
- 10:53Speaker 1: extra thirty five dollars off. Yeah, thirty five bucks off.
- 10:56Speaker 1: On top of that, use promo code foul at checkout.
- 11:00Speaker 1: That's fifty percent off at Omaha Steaks dot com and
- 11:02Speaker 1: an extra thirty five dollars off with promo code foul
- 11:06Speaker 1: at checkout seaside for details. Tom I thought that the
- 11:10Speaker 1: Shane Bieber acquisition for the Blue Jays was one of
- 11:12Speaker 1: the better trades because there weren't many big time starting
- 11:15Speaker 1: pitchers available. I'm like that is worth the lottery ticket
- 11:18Speaker 1: given the track record, and I do think he has
- 11:20Speaker 1: a chance to make a major impact for the Blue
- 11:22Speaker 1: Jays in the playoffs. The Guardians might make the playoffs
- 11:25Speaker 1: and run into Shane Bieber. So I remember there was
- 11:27Speaker 1: an interview. It was either Chernoff or Antonetti who said, Hey,
- 11:30Speaker 1: this was like a week or two before the trade deadline.
- 11:32Speaker 1: We think we're gonna have a big second half. They
- 11:34Speaker 1: ended up being right. Why did they trade Bieber?
- 11:39Speaker 2: Because I don't think they thought they'd be sitting here
- 11:41Speaker 2: today like they are Scott In reality, if they thought
- 11:45Speaker 2: that this was the case, Shane Bieber would be here.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And you know, they have to. And that's the one
- 11:52Speaker 2: side of this. When you're in a revenue strapped market
- 11:56Speaker 2: like this, as far as how much you're able to
- 11:58Speaker 2: spend and how much you're able to make as compared
- 12:01Speaker 2: to say in New York or Chicago or in LA
- 12:05Speaker 2: you always have your eye in the future as well
- 12:07Speaker 2: as today. And they looked at it realistically. They really
- 12:11Speaker 2: were careful with Shane Bieber. That's why Shane re signed
- 12:14Speaker 2: with this ball club because he knew that they would
- 12:17Speaker 2: protect him and not rush him back, much like they
- 12:21Speaker 2: did with Matthew Boyd last year. And if you remember then,
- 12:24Speaker 2: Matthew Boyd really helped this ball club In August, September
- 12:27Speaker 2: and October and then it led to Matthew getting a
- 12:31Speaker 2: contract with the Chicago Cubs with Shane Bieber. He had
- 12:36Speaker 2: an option to come back next year, but it was
- 12:38Speaker 2: at his beck and call. He could opt in or
- 12:43Speaker 2: opt out if Shane continues to do what he's doing,
- 12:46Speaker 2: and there's no reason to think he won't, He's not
- 12:49Speaker 2: going to have that option picked up. He's earned that
- 12:52Speaker 2: right to become a free agent go out on the
- 12:54Speaker 2: open market, and Cleveland felt like they couldn't take that
- 12:57Speaker 2: chance get nothing in return. They didn't feel really that
- 13:02Speaker 2: they weren't giving up on the season, but they were
- 13:04Speaker 2: also looking at it realistically and saying, we can get
- 13:07Speaker 2: a top pitching prospect that's in Double A that can
- 13:11Speaker 2: help us here in the very near future. And that's
- 13:13Speaker 2: why they did it. Scotten that. It's also why and
- 13:17Speaker 2: I think they have to get some credit for this.
- 13:20Speaker 2: This is thirteen consecutive years that this ball club is
- 13:25Speaker 2: is relevant, The eleven years that Tito was here and
- 13:29Speaker 2: now the two years with Stephen Vote. Think of this number, guys,
- 13:34Speaker 2: in those thirteen years, Cleveland has played twenty five games
- 13:39Speaker 2: total in which they were mathematically eliminated. That's astounding when
- 13:45Speaker 2: that's telling you you're in the hunt every year, and
- 13:49Speaker 2: they do it because they're trying to win every year.
- 13:52Speaker 2: But they can't be at all costs to win every year.
- 13:56Speaker 2: But they're not going to do a teardown like some
- 13:58Speaker 2: of these organizations doing, say hey we're going to be
- 14:02Speaker 2: awful for five years, but hope you come back.
- 14:05Speaker 3: They I saw the inside workings of the organization when
- 14:08Speaker 3: I played in twenty seventeen. They do it from the
- 14:11Speaker 3: bottom all the way up, and it's the people that
- 14:14Speaker 3: they bring in. So I have to talk about you
- 14:16Speaker 3: as a person. Congratulations on receiving your award this summer.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Does What does the Ford Frick Award mean to you?
- 14:26Speaker 3: As I think it's for broadcasters excellence? I think is
- 14:29Speaker 3: what the actual excellence in broadcasting. What does that mean
- 14:33Speaker 3: to you that you receiving that this summer.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Well, it means Eric that one that nobody ever recorded
- 14:41Speaker 2: us between innings, because your career would have ended a
- 14:44Speaker 2: long time ago. So I'm thankful to that. Hey, you
- 14:49Speaker 2: know what, it's it's very humbling. It's still very surreal.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I thought I won the lottery and I still do.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The best phone call I ever got was January twelfth,
- 14:59Speaker 2: nineteen ninety working in Columbus and doing Triple A games
- 15:04Speaker 2: and the Cleveland Indians and at that time the flagship
- 15:08Speaker 2: Station three we called, offering you a chance to work
- 15:11Speaker 2: with herb Score and get a major league job. I mean,
- 15:15Speaker 2: it's no different than when a player gets called into
- 15:18Speaker 2: that manager's office telling him that you're going to the
- 15:21Speaker 2: major leagues. That's the same way it was for me
- 15:24Speaker 2: back in January of nineteen ninety. And nothing will ever
- 15:27Speaker 2: top that phone call. So I've lived in my mind
- 15:31Speaker 2: a fairy tale life for thirty six years, being able
- 15:34Speaker 2: to do Major League baseball, being able to do it
- 15:37Speaker 2: in one city, to raise our four children, and now
- 15:41Speaker 2: we have grandchildren, but to raise them in one community,
- 15:45Speaker 2: and it's a great place to raise a family. We
- 15:48Speaker 2: haven't had to pick up and move like a lot
- 15:50Speaker 2: of people have had to do. I was lucky enough
- 15:53Speaker 2: then because of the Indians, to be able to do
- 15:56Speaker 2: Big ten basketball on TV for twenty five years. That
- 15:59Speaker 2: doesn't have if you don't get a major league job.
- 16:02Speaker 2: But when you get that call from the Hall of Fame,
- 16:04Speaker 2: that that's beyond any expectation or any dream. Didn't I
- 16:10Speaker 2: didn't get into this to get awards. It's still a
- 16:13Speaker 2: little uncomfortable to talk about it, but it was an
- 16:17Speaker 2: incredible week and I just we're so very grateful, and
- 16:25Speaker 2: it's just it's been that kind of a year where
- 16:27Speaker 2: you're like, man, never be able to top twenty twenty five.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Trust me from a professional standpoint.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Yeah, it is really cool.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Well it's much deserved, Tom, man do the best in
- 16:38Speaker 1: the biz. And then really cool that you get this
- 16:40Speaker 1: shocker final week of the season where you're essentially going
- 16:43Speaker 1: to be calling a playoff game. So we'll be looking
- 16:46Speaker 1: forward to some great Tom Hamilton calls here over the
- 16:48Speaker 1: next week.
- 16:49Speaker 5: Thanks for stopping by, guys.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Love the show, Thanks so much for having me. Take care.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Hey, we've got our buddy c Trent Rose Grants, who
- 16:58Speaker 1: covers the Reds for the Athletic joining us right now
- 17:01Speaker 1: on ft S you Trent. I'm going to start it
- 17:04Speaker 1: this way because Ken Rosenthal has now coined the National
- 17:07Speaker 1: League Wild Card Race presented by the New York Mets disaster.
- 17:12Speaker 5: So here we are. Let's talk about the glass apt
- 17:14Speaker 5: full portion of it. How thrilling is this in Cincinnati?
- 17:18Speaker 5: Are fans kind of like coming back?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 17:22Speaker 6: It was a you know, It's funny.
- 17:24Speaker 7: The first game of the Cub series, Hunter Green goes
- 17:27Speaker 7: out and was just lights out throws the shut out,
- 17:34Speaker 7: flirted with a no hitter, one nothing when and afterwards
- 17:37Speaker 7: he said something it's like, you know, yeah, it was great,
- 17:40Speaker 7: but I wish there were more people here, and.
- 17:42Speaker 6: They kind of reacted.
- 17:43Speaker 7: It was a it was a good weekend for that,
- 17:45Speaker 7: decent weather, other stuff going on downtown, Cubs in town,
- 17:49Speaker 7: so a lot of Cubs fans. Almost was good that
- 17:53Speaker 7: it was Cubs fans because they were like, let's go
- 17:57Speaker 7: Coby's thing, and the fans showed up to kind of
- 18:01Speaker 7: try to drown them out, and it was a it
- 18:03Speaker 7: was a really good atmosphere and so so I think
- 18:06Speaker 7: there's been some and then we'll see how it is
- 18:08Speaker 7: this week with no Cubs and the Pirates in town.
- 18:11Speaker 7: But heck, if I'm a baseball fan, Schemes versus Hunter
- 18:16Speaker 7: Green on Wednesday sounds like a pretty good game regardless
- 18:20Speaker 7: of standings.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Obviously we're talking about today. If the playoffs would start today,
- 18:26Speaker 3: three and now Central teams would be in. Is that
- 18:31Speaker 3: indicative to the fact that the Central has improved or
- 18:36Speaker 3: the rest of the National League? The Mets have absolutely collapsed.
- 18:41Speaker 7: Oh, I think it's it's an indictment on the rest
- 18:44Speaker 7: of the leagues. When you're talking about you look at
- 18:47Speaker 7: payrolls and you look at those kind of things. Preseason,
- 18:50Speaker 7: everybody likes to like, you know, kind of like look
- 18:53Speaker 7: down on the NL Central. But a year in, a
- 18:57Speaker 7: year out, they've got it. Almost seems like every year
- 19:00Speaker 7: there's four teams. You could put them in a bag
- 19:03Speaker 7: and pull them out, and that's two through or one
- 19:08Speaker 7: through four. Maybe you can always pick a leader, and
- 19:12Speaker 7: you always know there's going to be one team that's
- 19:13Speaker 7: going to be at the bottom. Often the Pirates off
- 19:16Speaker 7: in the Reds. So I think it's it's kind of
- 19:20Speaker 7: indicative of the rest baseball. I mean, really, how many
- 19:23Speaker 7: good teams are there? The Dodgers, you're waiting on it,
- 19:26Speaker 7: but you know they still have the third best record,
- 19:30Speaker 7: They're still in a fight for their division. In the
- 19:32Speaker 7: last week, and didn't everybody decide they won the World
- 19:35Speaker 7: Series And when they signed Roki Sasaki and I realized
- 19:39Speaker 7: that he's been dominant and it's ruined baseball forever. But
- 19:43Speaker 7: you also have then like the Phillies are good. I
- 19:47Speaker 7: wouldn't want to face the Phillies, but you don't want
- 19:49Speaker 7: to face the Dodgers. But everybody else is kind of there.
- 19:53Speaker 7: I think the Brewers are the thing with the Brewers
- 19:56Speaker 7: is they never hurt themselves, and we're seeing how far
- 20:00Speaker 7: that can go.
- 20:02Speaker 3: All right, So somebody that doesn't hurt themselves. Who's the
- 20:06Speaker 3: reds All star that's gonna or star that's gonna step
- 20:10Speaker 3: up in these last six games to make sure they
- 20:13Speaker 3: not only are at the finish line, but they get
- 20:15Speaker 3: it across. Because Eliot right now is having the toughest
- 20:18Speaker 3: stretch of his career. But who is that star that's
- 20:22Speaker 3: gonna step up because you can't hope, well, you know,
- 20:24Speaker 3: you get a little impact here, you get a little
- 20:27Speaker 3: impact there. These are games when you're facing a Pirates
- 20:30Speaker 3: team that is down on the mat, you have to
- 20:32Speaker 3: crush them. And to me, that's when the stars come
- 20:35Speaker 3: out and they dominate this next series.
- 20:38Speaker 7: I really like what I've seen from Noelvie Marte. You know,
- 20:44Speaker 7: he is a guy that has kind of had we'll
- 20:48Speaker 7: get consideration for a comeback.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Player of the Year because of what he's.
- 20:52Speaker 7: Coming back from, which was a suspension for steroids and
- 20:55Speaker 7: so those those don't register. But even taking that away,
- 20:59Speaker 7: when he did come back from his his suspension last year,
- 21:04Speaker 7: he was just awful. And you know, he came into
- 21:09Speaker 7: spring training looking to make amends and knowing that he
- 21:12Speaker 7: probably wasn't gonna make the team. And this was a
- 21:14Speaker 7: year after he was expected almost pretty much handed the
- 21:17Speaker 7: everyday job. Before spring training he went to the miners.
- 21:21Speaker 7: And it's funny, like one of the big things for
- 21:24Speaker 7: the Reds this year is there guys who went down,
- 21:27Speaker 7: went down and took it the right way, and when
- 21:30Speaker 7: they came back, they were ready. Will Benson. You know,
- 21:36Speaker 7: Marte even connored Phillips out of the bullpen. But Marte
- 21:40Speaker 7: is a guy that was the key really to that
- 21:44Speaker 7: the big Luis Castillo trade a couple of years ago,
- 21:48Speaker 7: and once he's kind of gotten to right field when
- 21:52Speaker 7: they added key Brian Hayes. He's really just it seems
- 21:56Speaker 7: like the world is off his shoulders and he there's
- 22:00Speaker 7: a guy you can can really hit, and you know,
- 22:03Speaker 7: I think in the future he can be a pretty
- 22:05Speaker 7: decent right fielder. He's got a great arm, he's a
- 22:07Speaker 7: good athletic player. He just tell usn't have a whole
- 22:11Speaker 7: lot of time out there, so you see some of
- 22:12Speaker 7: that inconsistency and an experience at times. But but I'm
- 22:15Speaker 7: going to go know, Aldie Marted, how about that for
- 22:17Speaker 7: off the off the Grid?
- 22:21Speaker 1: I like it because when a young guy gets popped Freud's,
- 22:23Speaker 1: you're like, a long as he's been doing this, right,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I mean, you don't know what to expect, and he
- 22:28Speaker 1: has certainly bounced back. Okay, I want to do some
- 22:32Speaker 1: schedule breakdown because we've got six games left for the
- 22:35Speaker 1: Mets and the Reds. Reds went out there aid right,
- 22:37Speaker 1: they're essentially a game up on the Mets, so this
- 22:40Speaker 1: is just as much for Mets fans right now. Mets
- 22:42Speaker 1: have three against the Cubs and then three against the Marlins,
- 22:44Speaker 1: including Sandale Contra on Friday. Reds have three against the Pirates,
- 22:48Speaker 1: but that is one Paul Schime start, like you mentioned
- 22:51Speaker 1: on Wednesday, and then they finished with three in Milwaukee
- 22:54Speaker 1: against the Brewers team that is probably playing for nothing,
- 22:57Speaker 1: even though they're still not going to be an easy opponent.
- 22:59Speaker 1: How do you size up the schedules remaining for the
- 23:02Speaker 1: two teams fighting for that last wild card spot.
- 23:05Speaker 7: Well, I wouldn't overlook the Diamondbacks either their game out
- 23:09Speaker 7: game behind, so so don't overlook them. And I believe
- 23:13Speaker 7: they have a pretty they have what somebody and then.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Colorado Rodgers and Padres.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Three against the Dodgers at home, then three in San Diego.
- 23:23Speaker 7: Oh okay, okay, yeah, I was getting them connect confused
- 23:26Speaker 7: with the Giants. That's that's not easy, especially with those
- 23:29Speaker 7: two battling each other. But still, I'm not going to
- 23:32Speaker 7: count out the Diamondbacks. We've done that before and that
- 23:35Speaker 7: seemed to be a bad idea. But I think for
- 23:40Speaker 7: the Reds it could be tough. They struggled a little
- 23:43Speaker 7: bit against the Pirates and they've struggled mightily over the
- 23:47Speaker 7: last couple of years in Milwaukee.
- 23:49Speaker 6: That Milwaukee team something to play.
- 23:52Speaker 7: For now, but in three games, after three games, they
- 23:56Speaker 7: may not home field advantage throughout their close are clenching that.
- 24:03Speaker 6: We'll see. You know.
- 24:04Speaker 7: The thing with the Reds is you have a pretty
- 24:07Speaker 7: good shut just because of the pitching. The starting pitching
- 24:10Speaker 7: has been strong all season. Andrew Abbott has struggled in
- 24:14Speaker 7: the second half, but Brady Singers picked it up. You know,
- 24:18Speaker 7: you have a deeper bullpen. The bullpen was an issue
- 24:21Speaker 7: for a while, but if you go back to the
- 24:25Speaker 7: trade deadline, like it was almost a lot of people
- 24:29Speaker 7: didn't understand the Reds moves and they were kind of
- 24:33Speaker 7: going on the margins, and they did a hell of
- 24:36Speaker 7: a job. I mean, you got to give Nick Crawl
- 24:37Speaker 7: and Brad Metter a lot of credit for being creative
- 24:42Speaker 7: and it working.
- 24:43Speaker 6: Out of the trade deadline.
- 24:44Speaker 7: That what that was was key Brian Hayes, which upgraded
- 24:48Speaker 7: them at third base defensively.
- 24:50Speaker 6: No question.
- 24:51Speaker 7: I mean that guy is I had a scout yesterday
- 24:54Speaker 7: talking to me and it's like, you know, the only
- 24:57Speaker 7: thing he could come close to is prime Nolan Aeronado,
- 25:00Speaker 7: and I've seen that he's been just phenomenal and a
- 25:05Speaker 7: total change of scenery guy. That allowed them to move
- 25:08Speaker 7: Noel vi Marte to right field. He's been better since
- 25:11Speaker 7: then at the plate, seemed more relaxed. That solved some
- 25:16Speaker 7: of their issues with the outfield and getting production there.
- 25:20Speaker 7: Then they got Zach Ltel into the back of the
- 25:24Speaker 7: rotation starter and it seemed kind of weird because it
- 25:27Speaker 7: is a team that needed bullpen help. Well, that moved
- 25:29Speaker 7: Nick Martinez in there, and Nick Martinez is just a
- 25:32Speaker 7: kind of a special pitcher in that he can do both,
- 25:35Speaker 7: will do both, and has done both. And so that
- 25:39Speaker 7: is this extremely extremely valuable and could be in a
- 25:44Speaker 7: short series. And then the other one was Miguel Andrewhr
- 25:48Speaker 7: who came in to just crush lefties. He started off
- 25:51Speaker 7: and crushed everybody, then got hurt and he's kind of
- 25:53Speaker 7: back and crushing lefties.
- 25:56Speaker 8: You brought up Cabrian Hayes.
- 25:57Speaker 4: I was there on Thursday, good seeing you when Hunter
- 26:01Speaker 4: Green should have thrown a no hitter. Why wasn't Cabrian
- 26:03Speaker 4: Hayes in the game in the seventh inning for defense?
- 26:05Speaker 4: And also, I mean I said it on the air,
- 26:07Speaker 4: but why the heck were they pitching to say Suzuki.
- 26:09Speaker 8: He was the only guy that had.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Any chance against Hunter Green that night, and they threw
- 26:13Speaker 4: him a pitch that he could hit, and K Brian
- 26:14Speaker 4: probably has that ball if he's in for Sal Stewart.
- 26:18Speaker 6: He does.
- 26:18Speaker 7: He had had a little you know, when you look
- 26:20Speaker 7: at Q Brian Hayes, he's had this thing with his
- 26:22Speaker 7: back for a while and before the game he was
- 26:25Speaker 7: feeling a little stiff, and so he wasn't in the lineup,
- 26:29Speaker 7: and that's why you had Olean Marte at third base.
- 26:33Speaker 7: But yeah, so or no South Stuart, Sorry you had
- 26:36Speaker 7: salth Stewart at third base, and and Sal's not gonna
- 26:40Speaker 7: make the place.
- 26:40Speaker 6: At Brian Hayes face, you're and you're right.
- 26:42Speaker 7: And the other thing is is like, I don't think
- 26:45Speaker 7: Hunter Green was in a mindset to pitch around anybody.
- 26:48Speaker 6: He didn't care. And you know you've been play both,
- 26:52Speaker 6: you guys.
- 26:53Speaker 7: When a guy doesn't care, you don't want to and
- 26:56Speaker 7: when he is just so calm like Hunter was, that's
- 27:03Speaker 7: part of it. And then like, okay, as long as
- 27:06Speaker 7: it's in the park, well I'll get the next guy.
- 27:09Speaker 7: And and Hunter did that. But Keebrian was good enough
- 27:13Speaker 7: to come in and for the ninth. I know Tito
- 27:15Speaker 7: had said before the game he didn't think he was
- 27:17Speaker 7: gonna be available, but Keebrian said he saw the chiropractor
- 27:21Speaker 7: and felt good enough to go in and in the ninth.
- 27:26Speaker 9: When you think fair Harbor, you should think soft. You
- 27:29Speaker 9: should think buttery liner. But it's not just the bathing suits,
- 27:33Speaker 9: are the shorts. It's also sweatshirts like the one that
- 27:36Speaker 9: I'm wearing right now, Kratz. It is stupid soft.
- 27:40Speaker 3: It's ridiculous that a shirt that can one keep you warm.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Two be so soft, and three so light weight, like
- 27:47Speaker 3: the collar everything. You don't even feel like you actually
- 27:50Speaker 3: have a hoodie on, but you do.
- 27:52Speaker 9: It is a lightweight hoodie and it feels incredible, So
- 27:56Speaker 9: you should go get one yourself. Also for bathing suits
- 27:59Speaker 9: for sure, for whatever clothes that you're interested in where
- 28:02Speaker 9: you want to basically feel like you're not wearing them
- 28:05Speaker 9: but you are. That's what Fair Harbor can bring to
- 28:07Speaker 9: the table. So head to Fairharbor Clothing dot com, slash
- 28:11Speaker 9: foul twenty and use code f O U L twenty
- 28:14Speaker 9: for twenty percent off your order. That's Fair Harbor eh
- 28:18Speaker 9: A R B O R Clothing dot com backslash foul
- 28:21Speaker 9: twenty for twenty percent off your order and make sure
- 28:23Speaker 9: you use that promo code foul twenty.
- 28:27Speaker 8: Have you ever seen a play like what happened on
- 28:29Speaker 8: that night?
- 28:30Speaker 4: The three eight six play where but it's gotta be
- 28:34Speaker 4: the only one in baseball history?
- 28:36Speaker 6: Okay, but it is a MLB.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Why I'm saying only okay because at one point they
- 28:42Speaker 4: were saying it wasn't off the first baseman's glove, and
- 28:44Speaker 4: I'm like, well, then the guy was out and there
- 28:46Speaker 4: should have never been a play at second it should
- 28:48Speaker 4: have been a hit, so it kind of know because
- 28:51Speaker 4: once it passes a fielder, I know, but then you
- 28:55Speaker 4: can get hit by the ball and all that stuff.
- 28:57Speaker 8: I know, but it's.
- 28:59Speaker 7: Old Spencer or that in the moment, but it did
- 29:02Speaker 7: take off his glove, so it was a three eight
- 29:05Speaker 7: three eight six, which yeah, only one ever, which is
- 29:09Speaker 7: just unbelievable. But yeah, that that was one of those,
- 29:12Speaker 7: and I think there was. It was weird because I've
- 29:15Speaker 7: talked to like everybody around that play and it was
- 29:18Speaker 7: just what was weird was that everybody stopped and for
- 29:21Speaker 7: that like split second you remember that everybody good looking
- 29:27Speaker 7: for a second like, oh god, is he okay? Because
- 29:30Speaker 7: that ball is what one o five off the bat
- 29:33Speaker 7: of PCA. So you're worried mostly about a guy getting
- 29:37Speaker 7: hit one O five in the helmet if he's I
- 29:41Speaker 7: mean put a bluntly like if he's going to survive.
- 29:45Speaker 7: I was there for our oldest Chapman and spring training
- 29:48Speaker 7: a couple of years ago or many years ago, and
- 29:51Speaker 7: it's the same kind of thing where your first reaction
- 29:53Speaker 7: is is this guy okay? And have I seen something tragic?
- 29:58Speaker 7: Luckily he was. He bounce back and hopefully you know,
- 30:02Speaker 7: the little bit that it hit off Spencer steeers glove
- 30:05Speaker 7: was enough to dead in it some or whatever.
- 30:08Speaker 6: But also, well that ends.
- 30:09Speaker 5: Well, Hey, se Trent, I've got one more for you.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Let's say this team does make it for fans of
- 30:16Speaker 1: other teams that have not really paid attention to the
- 30:19Speaker 1: Reds all year, how dangerous do you think they could
- 30:22Speaker 1: be in October?
- 30:24Speaker 5: I actually really like a lot of.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Their young pitching, and I'll apply what I said about
- 30:28Speaker 1: the Blue Jays to the Reds. The Reds can have
- 30:30Speaker 1: a different looking pitching arsenal because they have a really
- 30:35Speaker 1: solid one through five rotation. In my mind, they're not
- 30:38Speaker 1: all going to be starters that immediately enhances your bullpen,
- 30:42Speaker 1: do you agree?
- 30:43Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 30:44Speaker 7: I mean zachly Tel's done some of that in his career.
- 30:47Speaker 7: He's not unfamiliar with it. We already mentioned how Nick
- 30:50Speaker 7: Martinez has gone there and done that, you know. And
- 30:54Speaker 7: also one of the big things with this bullpen is
- 30:57Speaker 7: been the emergence of Connor Phillips over the last couple
- 31:01Speaker 7: of weeks. This is a guy again a trade with
- 31:04Speaker 7: the Mariners, a different trade with the Mariners, but but
- 31:08Speaker 7: he is a guy that has kind of had just
- 31:11Speaker 7: a terrible year last year, made came up early, it
- 31:16Speaker 7: was okay, went back to the miners, made a small adjustment,
- 31:19Speaker 7: and has just been lights out since he's been exactly
- 31:22Speaker 7: what they thought maybe he could be, and that's huge.
- 31:25Speaker 7: And then Zach Maxwell, who couldn't throw strikes in college
- 31:30Speaker 7: or in the miners, all of a sudden is your
- 31:33Speaker 7: extra guy and he's you know, I'm not face, I
- 31:37Speaker 7: don't want to face Zach Maxwell. He's what I mean.
- 31:40Speaker 7: He basically he wears Anthony Munjos his number and looks
- 31:43Speaker 7: bigger than Anthony Munjo's. So that's quite the it's quite
- 31:49Speaker 7: the luxury that they have. Graham Ashcraft has looked good
- 31:53Speaker 7: since he's coming back. Tony Santian has been used as
- 31:58Speaker 7: much as anybody. I think he's yeah, probably, I don't
- 32:01Speaker 7: think there's anybody who's who was with Tyler Rogers is
- 32:05Speaker 7: at the top of the uses and he still looked right.
- 32:08Speaker 7: He came in last night, had a beginning to get
- 32:11Speaker 7: the save. And then Emilio Pagan is a guy who
- 32:14Speaker 7: is just nobody was looking at that at the beginning
- 32:16Speaker 7: of the year, but he's just done a really good
- 32:18Speaker 7: job closing, and so you just keep pushing that down
- 32:22Speaker 7: where you have all these guys and you have a
- 32:23Speaker 7: Nick Martinez that can go a couple of innings or
- 32:27Speaker 7: you know, I'm almost wondering, besides Green and Lodolo, do
- 32:33Speaker 7: you you can almost like piggyback Singer an Abbot with
- 32:38Speaker 7: a left right because Abbot's had a not a great
- 32:41Speaker 7: second half and Singer has had a great second half.
- 32:45Speaker 7: So there's just there's just a lot of arms. And
- 32:48Speaker 7: when you're talking about the Santian and and Pegan and Ashcraft,
- 32:54Speaker 7: you have guys who are all kind of those that
- 32:57Speaker 7: raised thing where you're coming from different angles and gives
- 33:00Speaker 7: you those different looks.
- 33:03Speaker 1: See Trent, great stuff, man, I'm excited to see how
- 33:05Speaker 1: the wee Pacha Berns.
- 33:07Speaker 5: Oh wait about Chase Burns.
- 33:12Speaker 6: You know now thrown one on one.
- 33:16Speaker 7: I mean that the night the other night was just
- 33:19Speaker 7: still crazy to me, hungry and averaged one hundred miles
- 33:21Speaker 7: an hour on his fastball over a complete game, shutout.
- 33:25Speaker 6: Just mhm, it was just stupid. It was funny.
- 33:28Speaker 7: It was like after that game, I just walked by
- 33:31Speaker 7: Emilio and I kind of joked I was like eh
- 33:34Speaker 7: Man screwed you out of a save. He goes, there
- 33:38Speaker 7: was nobody down there who was going to be better
- 33:40Speaker 7: than Hunter. There was no upgrade in the bullpen, and
- 33:42Speaker 7: it was right. So it's one of those things. But yeah,
- 33:47Speaker 7: Chase Burns is a guy that you can use in
- 33:49Speaker 7: that David Price roll back in when he was a rookie.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Uh.
- 33:54Speaker 7: They're being careful with how much they use him. But
- 33:56Speaker 7: he came in for multip plannings the other day.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Uh, And you can't.
- 34:00Speaker 7: You just can't deny the stuff. And you don't have
- 34:02Speaker 7: to worry about anybody saying on more than once.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Circle of trust pitching stuff wise, the Reds are up
- 34:08Speaker 1: there with any team in baseball for October when you
- 34:11Speaker 1: shrink what your pitching will look like.
- 34:13Speaker 5: It actually makes me think.
- 34:14Speaker 1: The last time the Reds have made the playoffs in
- 34:16Speaker 1: a full season, I know, in a really long time,
- 34:17Speaker 1: But the last time they made it was twenty twenty,
- 34:19Speaker 1: didn't they not?
- 34:20Speaker 5: Was it? Twenty fourteen was the last full season playoffs?
- 34:23Speaker 2: You sat?
- 34:24Speaker 6: Thirteen was a wild card loss to the Pirates.
- 34:28Speaker 7: Twelve was when they you know, or maybe the best
- 34:32Speaker 7: team at baseball and then lost to the Giants who
- 34:35Speaker 7: made that amazing run and then but they haven't. They
- 34:40Speaker 7: haven't won a playoff series or a home playoff game
- 34:44Speaker 7: since nineteen ninety five.
- 34:46Speaker 6: That's thirty years.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Was that boat in GMing back then?
- 34:52Speaker 6: Maybe, or maybe it's right before him. I'm not sure.
- 34:56Speaker 7: I was in freshman in college or sophomore in college.
- 35:01Speaker 5: You said nineteen ninety five, Yeah I was voted. Yeah,
- 35:03Speaker 5: I was voted.
- 35:04Speaker 1: So we'll have to bring him back on this week
- 35:06Speaker 1: to chat about that. But twenty twenty they made it.
- 35:08Speaker 1: This is my other point. And from what I recall,
- 35:10Speaker 1: they had two games. Pitching was nasty and they didn't
- 35:13Speaker 1: score a run, right.
- 35:15Speaker 7: Correct, And you know that was Trevor Bauer, Luis Castillo
- 35:22Speaker 7: and more, and they were both just lights out, But
- 35:26Speaker 7: the offense didn't get anything done. And I think there's
- 35:29Speaker 7: a danger with that here. This is an offense that
- 35:31Speaker 7: hasn't been great or consistent and and and you could
- 35:37Speaker 7: get in that same kind of problem. But you can
- 35:42Speaker 7: also keep games really close because you have that kind
- 35:45Speaker 7: of pitching and they have a couple of guys who
- 35:48Speaker 7: can who can get hot, and if Ellie gets hot.
- 35:51Speaker 6: He's been better the last couple of days.
- 35:54Speaker 7: Maybe it's just one of those things that he can
- 35:55Speaker 7: pop out because he's a difference maker and he's always
- 36:01Speaker 7: going to be somebody that everybody's worried about. And hopefully
- 36:04Speaker 7: for the red sake that he gets a.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Going Ellie in the playoffs would be fun to watch too. Damn,
- 36:10Speaker 1: I'm looking. I'm like, he's only had thirty six stolen
- 36:13Speaker 1: bases this.
- 36:14Speaker 7: Year, and he had eighteen home runs. He had eighteen
- 36:20Speaker 7: home runs going to the All Star Game, and he
- 36:23Speaker 7: has twenty now and the two longest streaks hormorless streaks
- 36:27Speaker 7: of his career.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's not running like we thought he would
- 36:33Speaker 1: this year either.
- 36:34Speaker 7: He had had some leg injuries. He was not exactly
- 36:37Speaker 7: the same. He had a quad and then something else.
- 36:40Speaker 7: I think it was a hamstring or something. So he's
- 36:42Speaker 7: he's been hobbled a little bit. But he's also played
- 36:47Speaker 7: every game, started all but one. The one he didn't
- 36:50Speaker 7: start was he had a flight canceled when he's coming
- 36:54Speaker 7: back from his sister's funeral in the Dominican Republican and
- 36:57Speaker 7: started that day in the Dominican Republic. Had some flight
- 37:00Speaker 7: issues getting to Cincinnati from Santa Domingo. And then that
- 37:06Speaker 7: game got postponed and resumed the next day and he
- 37:11Speaker 7: actually got in the game. So he's played in every game,
- 37:13Speaker 7: so you know, I think that's for him, it's really important,
- 37:17Speaker 7: and the team knows that he wants to play every day, every.
- 37:22Speaker 6: Inning, and that's just who he is.
- 37:26Speaker 7: Maybe that's been bad in some ways for his longevity
- 37:30Speaker 7: and his production, but it's also you know, you don't
- 37:34Speaker 7: you never want to discourage guys who will do anything
- 37:37Speaker 7: to post. And Ellie's a guy who was shown this year,
- 37:41Speaker 7: but he'll do anything to post.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Yeah, so we'll see.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Maybe he picks it back up here and lights it
- 37:48Speaker 1: up and uses the legs in the postseason when you know,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you know, limited time, amount of games to go here.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Great talk, great wrap up here of what we've seen
- 37:56Speaker 1: from the Reds, looking forward to the last week here
- 37:59Speaker 1: see Trent, thanks for hopping on with us.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Appreciated. Have fun covering this team this week.
- 38:04Speaker 9: Two dogs, you were the hat for you.
- 38:08Speaker 5: I don't know anything about what's going on with them.
- 38:12Speaker 7: AJ stayed away in the in the in the nice
- 38:15Speaker 7: part of the press box on Thursday, so I didn't
- 38:18Speaker 7: get to see he's.
- 38:20Speaker 5: So excited about Hurricanes ranked. What too did Hurricanes ranked?
- 38:25Speaker 5: To football?

- 38:37Speaker 4: you know.
- 38:38Speaker 5: But you guys didn't see each other.
- 38:40Speaker 6: Remember Thursday. I don't remember Thursday. Honestly.
- 38:43Speaker 4: I had a nice talk with had a nice talk
- 38:46Speaker 4: with Sal Stewart, had a nice talk with Nick Martinez.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Who else Tito obviously, but no.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 38:55Speaker 6: That was the day I had to go get my daughter.
- 39:00Speaker 5: Ah, so it wasn't there.
- 39:03Speaker 6: So it was me. It was me, not a j
- 39:06Speaker 6: I'll own it. Wow, I'll wear it.
- 39:08Speaker 8: I was there from twelve o'clock because I did the

- 39:14Speaker 6: call me.
- 39:14Speaker 1: We can get lunch exactly exactly next time. There's always
- 39:18Speaker 1: next time. We actually go to No this year, not
- 39:20Speaker 1: for you, but we do end up.
- 39:22Speaker 8: Maybe maybe Milwaukee this weekend.
- 39:25Speaker 7: Yeah, Fox picked up Saturday is a big Fox Saturday's game.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Yep. True.
- 39:32Speaker 4: So make sure your daughter has you doing something on Saturday.
- 39:36Speaker 6: Well, I will be in Milwaukee. She will not be there.
