- 0:50Speaker 3: Do you know when you work so much you just
- 0:51Speaker 3: go on like autopilot? I think we like that's what
- 0:56Speaker 3: we've been working for like three months straight.
- 0:59Speaker 2: New single out is fire. Thank you for that nice,
- 1:05Speaker 2: nice little routine. Did you choreograph that?
- 1:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:07Speaker 2: I did really?
- 1:09Speaker 6: Yeah, getting getting it.
- 1:11Speaker 2: In the video, getting it on the mountains.
- 1:13Speaker 6: I didn't shout out to Cot like.
- 1:18Speaker 2: She was about to be watching this and be like,
- 1:20Speaker 2: are you I'm loving the nails? You always the nails
- 1:23Speaker 2: has always been on point. Can you keep showing for
- 1:25Speaker 2: the camera? Quick?
- 1:26Speaker 6: A nail girl? Thank you?
- 1:28Speaker 5: Do you have like a nail person that comes that
- 1:30Speaker 5: you fly out?
- 1:31Speaker 3: Or I've been using the same person for five six years?
- 1:34Speaker 3: Her names Tamika.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Okay, everybody getting shout outs on the show. Now do
- 1:38Speaker 2: they come to you? I'm okay, boss, Can we take it?
- 1:44Speaker 2: Can we take it back? Let's do it now? Originally,
- 1:46Speaker 2: where is Sweety from the Bay? The Bay? One time
- 1:49Speaker 2: for the Bay? And how was it for Sweety growing up? Like?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Who were you as a kid?
- 1:54Speaker 6: Oh, that's a good question.
- 1:56Speaker 3: I feel like my whole life, I've always like a
- 2:00Speaker 3: common theme is like duality. I grew up biracial, I
- 2:04Speaker 3: went to two different colleges, I grew up in two
- 2:06Speaker 3: different households, So.
- 2:08Speaker 6: I've always just had to find like a balance.
- 2:11Speaker 3: But growing up in the Bay Area, like being like
- 2:14Speaker 3: black and Asian or just mixed it it's really common.
- 2:17Speaker 6: But I think that.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I was I was the first grandchild to be mixed,
- 2:24Speaker 3: and I was the first on both sides.
- 2:26Speaker 2: On both sides. Now, who's black dad or my dad? Okay?
- 2:30Speaker 3: And I think that there needs to be more conversation
- 2:33Speaker 3: between like the clash of cultures, because what's always appropriate
- 2:37Speaker 3: that this household may not fly in this household.
- 2:40Speaker 6: So as a child, I struggled with that.
- 2:43Speaker 3: But then I did learn that you have to respect,
- 2:45Speaker 3: you know, both groups based on their morals and their values. However,
- 2:49Speaker 3: sometimes you have to kind of like code twitch sometimes.
- 2:52Speaker 5: When you say it was like a little challenging, was
- 2:55Speaker 5: it more so on your mom's side that was challenging
- 2:58Speaker 5: or your father.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I would just say both sides. I feel like both
- 3:03Speaker 3: households had different rules. But I'm also talking about like
- 3:06Speaker 3: my grandparents' house because my grandparents were always babysitting me,
- 3:10Speaker 3: and my parents was like out working a lot. But yeah,
- 3:14Speaker 3: like so my Filipino side hardcore traditional. They were immigrants,
- 3:19Speaker 3: so it's like that the values are very traditional, really strict.
- 3:23Speaker 3: And then my dad's side is really different, so more
- 3:27Speaker 3: relax more relaxed. But also my grandparents were pastors, so
- 3:34Speaker 3: then so.
- 3:36Speaker 6: Then they're strict in their own way.
- 3:38Speaker 3: But then at my dad's house, my dad in the streets,
- 3:41Speaker 3: so it's like there's no there's no rules at his household.
- 3:44Speaker 3: And then my mom she's just a tiger mom because
- 3:47Speaker 3: she's Asian and so I was like trying to balance
- 3:51Speaker 3: like four different households and a lot what I could
- 3:54Speaker 3: do and what I can't do in these environments.
- 3:56Speaker 6: What's a tiger mom?
- 3:57Speaker 3: A tiger mom is often described as a mom who's
- 4:00Speaker 3: like who wants the best for their child, so she
- 4:02Speaker 3: pushes them, like your pressure to get straight a's or
- 4:05Speaker 3: b is not is not acceptable, Just always pushing their
- 4:09Speaker 3: child to like do their best, especially like in academics.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Did you get straight a's.
- 4:13Speaker 6: I'm my dad. Did you have any siblings?
- 4:17Speaker 2: So my dad had.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Three kids eleven years later with another woman. Okay, but
- 4:21Speaker 6: just for your parents, you're the only child. I'm the
- 4:24Speaker 6: only child. Was on them?
- 4:25Speaker 2: Oh wow?
- 4:25Speaker 6: Did you have like cousins to play with? Was it lone? Agog?
- 4:28Speaker 6: I had a cousin.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I love them so Like at my grandma's house, my
- 4:31Speaker 3: dad's mom's house, especially in the summertime, it'd be like
- 4:34Speaker 3: fifteen of us in there, you know, you know, calling
- 4:38Speaker 3: for showers, calling for the couch, trying to like hide
- 4:41Speaker 3: the cover so we had a cover at night, you know.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Was like growing up in a household full of kids,
- 4:45Speaker 3: It's like it's like survival. Little fittest Okay, what's.
- 4:48Speaker 2: The different sides of town too? Like did you go
- 4:50Speaker 2: on one side of town here and then the other
- 4:52Speaker 2: side of town?
- 4:53Speaker 6: You know what's so interesting?
- 4:54Speaker 3: So both of my grandmothers like lived in Union City,
- 4:56Speaker 3: but on different sides of the bridge. Union City is
- 4:59Speaker 3: a city in the so they were like about what
- 5:01Speaker 3: ten minutes away from each other.
- 5:03Speaker 6: So it's like a car right around the bed.
- 5:04Speaker 2: But it wasn't like over here I'm good and over
- 5:08Speaker 2: here like I'm not good.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I just feel like I got my dad's At my
- 5:13Speaker 3: dad's mom's house, there was never no food because of
- 5:17Speaker 3: all the kids. But they're not my Filipino side. They
- 5:20Speaker 3: always they always got food over there. So when I
- 5:22Speaker 3: would get hungry, I would go to my grandpa's.
- 5:26Speaker 6: Did they always have like rice ready?
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yes?
- 5:28Speaker 6: Because I have a type.
- 5:30Speaker 5: I had a best friend who was tied in black
- 5:32Speaker 5: and her her grandmother always had like a pot of
- 5:35Speaker 5: rice at least the rice is always ready to go.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Now, look, don't get mad at me, friend, but I'm
- 5:40Speaker 2: might to ask you a question that whose food was better?
- 5:42Speaker 6: Oh no, I can't decide to be honest.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Because both people throwing down on these sides. As you're
- 5:48Speaker 2: talking about.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Both of my grandma's can throw down, like throw down
- 5:52Speaker 3: down to choose though, Well, my favorite food is Filipino food,
- 5:57Speaker 3: but I can't say that that that's someone's cooking it's
- 6:00Speaker 3: better than the others. No, no, no, no, now they both
- 6:04Speaker 3: they're both equally good. I'm just clarified.
- 6:09Speaker 5: With you having so like you said, the two sides
- 6:11Speaker 5: you were going from back and forth, is that we're
- 6:13Speaker 5: brought in your palate because you have a wide palate.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Now, so let me call you something.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Well, she has a white palette, a palette, so I
- 6:24Speaker 3: feel like my palate comes from I was like the
- 6:27Speaker 3: taste tester. Oh, but when my grandparents were cooking, so
- 6:30Speaker 3: you know, Filipino food is it's foreign food. And then
- 6:33Speaker 3: my grandma and on the other side, they get down
- 6:37Speaker 3: in the kitchen too, and they make their own concoctions.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Actually, it's it's really funny.
- 6:41Speaker 3: My pap Paul will like save food from like a
- 6:44Speaker 3: couple of months ago, reheat it up. That no, that's crazy,
- 6:50Speaker 3: but freeze it, reheat it up, and then throw some
- 6:53Speaker 3: extra stuff in it to make it like good. And
- 6:56Speaker 3: then he'd be like, oh, baby, you want some of this,
- 6:58Speaker 3: And my Grandma'll be like, baby, don't you eat that's
- 7:00Speaker 3: like from six months ago. That's how that's how he
- 7:10Speaker 3: would He still does it, but that's how he would save.
- 7:12Speaker 2: The left's perfectly fine, isn't he Yes.
- 7:14Speaker 3: He is.
- 7:15Speaker 6: And then he would reheat it, make a couple of concoctions.
- 7:17Speaker 2: So like I tasted it, I don't even eat food
- 7:21Speaker 2: from two days later.
- 7:22Speaker 5: When you put it in the freezer for a long time,
- 7:23Speaker 5: you put like you make a pop pot of greens.
- 7:25Speaker 5: You can freeze those and then reheat them later.
- 7:28Speaker 2: My mom made me my Mom's from Barbados Thanksgiving. She
- 7:32Speaker 2: made some rice and beans and she put it in
- 7:34Speaker 2: the in the freezer and it stayed and she heated
- 7:36Speaker 2: that ship up.
- 7:37Speaker 4: My bad, damn Mama, make sure you let me know
- 7:39Speaker 4: which one has been in the freezer anyway, it's easy.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Your name so weedy. It's not sweetie, No, it's so
- 7:49Speaker 2: wety or yeah.
- 7:52Speaker 6: So it was like a family nickname.
- 7:54Speaker 3: And then it stuck because I have put it on
- 7:56Speaker 3: my MySpace, and my MySpace was like really popping, like helipopping,
- 8:00Speaker 3: like I had all the cold, all the.
- 8:02Speaker 6: Layout, my homegirls.
- 8:05Speaker 3: But it had become so big that like people would
- 8:08Speaker 3: like see me walk in from like the bus stop,
- 8:10Speaker 3: they see me at like a gas station, they see
- 8:12Speaker 3: me like walking to school, and they'd be they pull
- 8:14Speaker 3: over and be.
- 8:15Speaker 6: Like, are you Sweety?
- 8:16Speaker 3: So it's just like my page was so big that
- 8:20Speaker 3: people thought that that was my name.
- 8:22Speaker 2: So why why that though not sweety?
- 8:25Speaker 3: Because when I was typing it in on MySpace, I
- 8:27Speaker 3: was like, sweety, look too sweet. You gotta put a
- 8:30Speaker 3: little flavor in it, Okay, So I put the A
- 8:32Speaker 3: between the W, the S and the W period.
- 8:34Speaker 6: And then to solidify.
- 8:36Speaker 3: It, my my other mom, the woman that my dad
- 8:40Speaker 3: is currently with, she got me my first nameplate that
- 8:45Speaker 3: says sweety for my first day of my sophomore year
- 8:49Speaker 3: in school. So it just like solidified everything. Yes, you know,
- 8:54Speaker 3: like it just really like.
- 8:55Speaker 6: Just made everything permanent after that.
- 8:57Speaker 5: So you were in college, she was about to get that.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Good shit.
- 9:01Speaker 5: Yeah, so you were in college. What were you studying?
- 9:06Speaker 6: So I went in to do psychology?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Okay, that goes with me, why no?
- 9:11Speaker 6: But listen, on the first day of school we got that.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Syllabus, was like, you know what I've got to go.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Let me tell you.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I literally got up like ten minutes of class.
- 9:25Speaker 6: And I said, I'm going to like the administration office.
- 9:30Speaker 6: I said, oh, hell no.
- 9:32Speaker 3: So then I was talking to my administrative counselor and
- 9:36Speaker 3: she basically just told me to take a whole bunch
- 9:38Speaker 3: of electives. And within those electives, one of the classes
- 9:41Speaker 3: that I really enjoyed was my communication course. So that's
- 9:45Speaker 3: what made me want to study communication because of the
- 9:48Speaker 3: elective that I chose.
- 9:49Speaker 6: And what college was this?
- 9:51Speaker 3: So this was at San Diego State and then I
- 9:53Speaker 3: transferred to the University of Southern California.
- 9:55Speaker 5: There's no way that you wasn't going to school with
- 9:58Speaker 5: your family. Like you said, your was a Tiger mom
- 10:01Speaker 5: and she believes in that schooling, so so you.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Had to go to college.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I think it was a combination between her pressuring me
- 10:07Speaker 3: and then me just wanted to get out of Sacramento.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Now, how was your college experience?
- 10:12Speaker 3: San Diego State was really fun And I didn't really
- 10:17Speaker 3: understand the consequence of being a transfer until I was
- 10:19Speaker 3: a transfer.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Could you lose credits or not only that.
- 10:23Speaker 3: But you just lose like the incoming freshman connection that
- 10:27Speaker 3: you created with the peers that you come in with.
- 10:29Speaker 3: And at USC it took me like a minute to
- 10:32Speaker 3: like create you know, friendships on campus. But at San
- 10:36Speaker 3: Diego State, like I was dancing for the school, I
- 10:39Speaker 3: was like the face of the students store. So I
- 10:41Speaker 3: was really like integrated into the school's culture, and I
- 10:43Speaker 3: really missed that when I transferred over to you.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Why did you transfer?
- 10:46Speaker 3: Why did you want to to be in an a
- 10:49Speaker 3: market city?
- 10:50Speaker 2: You wanted to be in La.
- 10:51Speaker 3: I wanted to be in La. I thought that you
- 10:53Speaker 3: and I was going to get discovered right away, you.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Know, because you're doing music also, correct.
- 10:57Speaker 6: Well, I'm posting my wraps on my Instagram.
- 11:00Speaker 2: How many followers did you have at the time.
- 11:02Speaker 6: I've always had a lot of followers.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I've always been heavy into like social media and the aesthetics,
- 11:07Speaker 3: so I've always just had like a before the music,
- 11:10Speaker 3: it was like a brand following, like girls just fucked
- 11:13Speaker 3: with like the vibe.
- 11:15Speaker 5: But then you know, when you drop can't style, won't stide?
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yeah go?
- 11:19Speaker 5: You know that's that famous. That's a classic freestyle. You
- 11:22Speaker 5: know instantly, did your world change?
- 11:24Speaker 3: No, it did, but it changed after the music video.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I was so taken aback with how much coverage I
- 11:33Speaker 3: got because I dropped this without a publicist, without backing,
- 11:37Speaker 3: without a label, without management.
- 11:38Speaker 6: It was just fresh out the gate.
- 11:41Speaker 3: So I think that at the beginning of my career
- 11:44Speaker 3: I was kind of just thrown into the industry quickly.
- 11:49Speaker 5: I'm very pressed, you know, with what you've done and
- 11:51Speaker 5: what you were able to do and create yourself. Even today.
- 11:54Speaker 5: I know we're going to get to more of your accolades,
- 11:56Speaker 5: but I just want to say, I'm very proud of
- 11:58Speaker 5: what you are doing. You know what I'm saying, especially
- 12:00Speaker 5: as a young black girl out here, You're very intelligent,
- 12:02Speaker 5: very smart, and I think that needs to be you know,
- 12:04Speaker 5: said and shined on because a lot of people look
- 12:08Speaker 5: at you know, certain people nowadays and they don't really
- 12:11Speaker 5: are they like you said, they see the aesthetic, but
- 12:13Speaker 5: you know, you really are putting in the work mentally
- 12:18Speaker 5: to get to where you're going.
- 12:20Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yeah. I had an argument about you the other day
- 12:23Speaker 2: and I was saying, Sweetep really put up some points
- 12:25Speaker 2: on the scoreboard, like you had some number ones and
- 12:27Speaker 2: they were really really big. We're gonna get into that. Yeah,
- 12:31Speaker 2: So you put out the song, you put out the video.
- 12:34Speaker 2: What happens next?
- 12:36Speaker 6: I had several meetings at different labels.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Did they just have they get flew out friends?
- 12:42Speaker 6: Surprisingly, all my meetings were in La.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Okay, So yeah, you did make the right decision. I
- 12:48Speaker 2: guess moving you had to go far.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Yeah, but this was like two years after I graduated
- 12:52Speaker 3: from college. Yeah, I struggled for like two years in LA.
- 12:56Speaker 2: But how was the struggle? We talked about the struggle too,
- 12:59Speaker 2: because a lot of it was always real. Man.
- 13:02Speaker 6: I worked like a lot of odd jobs.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Where does Sweetie work that people would be like what?
- 13:09Speaker 6: I was a receptionist.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I was a waitress at a strip club. I was
- 13:14Speaker 3: an ambassador for like Craigslist events like hey, come be,
- 13:18Speaker 3: come help us with this pop up shop, and you know,
- 13:21Speaker 3: like the people who help solicit at public in public areas.
- 13:25Speaker 3: But interestingly that helped me with like my people skills,
- 13:29Speaker 3: because when you're constantly being thrown into like different environments
- 13:32Speaker 3: with new people, you have to like accommodate really fast.
- 13:35Speaker 6: You have to adapt. So it helped me.
- 13:37Speaker 3: But I remember like every time I would like pay
- 13:41Speaker 3: my rent, my account would go back down to like
- 13:43Speaker 3: twenty or like forty dollars, and I was.
- 13:46Speaker 6: Like, bitch, it's real, it's real.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Not because like my aesthetic it was always just like
- 13:52Speaker 3: I've always wanted to be a rich bitch, Like ever
- 13:55Speaker 3: since I was a kid, that's what I aspired to be.
- 13:57Speaker 3: I like the diamonds the first I love the boss
- 13:59Speaker 3: bitches out there out to them, and I was like,
- 14:01Speaker 3: this is not what we planned. Friend, But I looked
- 14:06Speaker 3: myself in the mirror. That's why I see girl, I say,
- 14:09Speaker 3: look it in the mirror. I think, I feel I'm
- 14:10Speaker 3: about to be Like I was broke as fuck when
- 14:11Speaker 3: I wrote that, and I was like, we have to give.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Yourself a deadline.
- 14:14Speaker 3: And I always tell people who I give advice to
- 14:17Speaker 3: give yourself a deadline because if you do that, you're
- 14:19Speaker 3: able to keep track of like what you're doing. So
- 14:21Speaker 3: I gave myself a year to make it in LA
- 14:24Speaker 3: and if I didn't make it, I was going to
- 14:25Speaker 3: go home and at least be comfortable and stack my
- 14:27Speaker 3: money up and move back to LA.
- 14:29Speaker 6: All my ninth month, I got discovered.
- 14:32Speaker 5: That that does work, though, when you give yourself a deadline,
- 14:36Speaker 5: I know, I know you.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Know that personally, and I'm glad you're sharing these things
- 14:40Speaker 2: with people because I feel like how it looked on
- 14:44Speaker 2: the outside, it looked like it just happened really fast.
- 14:46Speaker 2: But the things that you're saying would make someone say, wow,
- 14:49Speaker 2: I didn't know she had to do that. I didn't
- 14:52Speaker 2: know she had to work these jobs. I didn't know
- 14:53Speaker 2: how to do. That kind of makes it a little
- 14:54Speaker 2: bit more human.
- 14:55Speaker 5: So when did you have to get When did the
- 14:57Speaker 5: check come? Where you can say, well, you can tike
- 15:00Speaker 5: tail a little bit, When did that big check come?
- 15:03Speaker 6: Is that when you signed? Did you get in advance
- 15:05Speaker 6: or you.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Always was on Warner correct, you decided to.
- 15:07Speaker 6: Go, it was on Warner.
- 15:08Speaker 3: But before that I was doing I was an influencer
- 15:12Speaker 3: for like weave companies and clothing companies. So because Icy
- 15:15Speaker 3: Girl was like new and hot, it had put the
- 15:18Speaker 3: attention like that helped me get my first like low key,
- 15:21Speaker 3: low hanging fruit like Brandill's. Like that was the first
- 15:24Speaker 3: time I had a couple thousand in my bank account.
- 15:26Speaker 3: I just had to like post my picture they would
- 15:28Speaker 3: and they would pay me.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Okay, So that twenty dollars turned into a couple of
- 15:31Speaker 4: thousand dollars getting some shows or anything like that.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Because the song was doing.
- 15:35Speaker 6: Really the show was an Istanbul Turkey.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Wow, how how they pay you? You?
- 15:41Speaker 6: Turkey?
- 15:41Speaker 3: Stanbul, yurkey, Yes, all the way over there, all the
- 15:45Speaker 3: way over.
- 15:46Speaker 6: There, and yes, and I sat in the middle seat.
- 15:51Speaker 2: The whole thought is like, I'm not doing this. Listen,
- 15:54Speaker 2: I gotta know how much they paid you. Okay, I
- 15:58Speaker 2: would have said.
- 15:59Speaker 6: Yeah, I said how much are we going?
- 16:03Speaker 5: One thing about now, listen, One thing about a cancer
- 16:07Speaker 5: is we get real uncomfortable when we ain't got no money. Right,
- 16:09Speaker 5: So it's like when it's time to get but when
- 16:16Speaker 5: it's time to get that check, we finna get it.
- 16:17Speaker 6: It's just like I was in the middle seat.
- 16:21Speaker 2: On the side of the plane. I'm gonna be on
- 16:24Speaker 2: a plane like this. It was at the time that
- 16:27Speaker 2: you maybe got a little bit of an excel. You
- 16:29Speaker 2: got that in l As. Did that motivate you to
- 16:35Speaker 2: keep going?
- 16:36Speaker 6: Absolutely?
- 16:36Speaker 3: But then after that I had got my contract okay,
- 16:39Speaker 3: but my contract wasn't like one of those flashy contracts.
- 16:42Speaker 3: It was it was enough for me, but it wasn't
- 16:44Speaker 3: like you know how some.
- 16:45Speaker 6: People like break the bank and get me.
- 16:49Speaker 5: What made you go with Warner out of all the labels, To.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Be honest, I don't remember why. I can just remember
- 16:56Speaker 3: how I felt in those meetings. So I kind of
- 16:57Speaker 3: like this followed like my feelings energy. Okay, did you
- 17:00Speaker 3: have a manager at the time and an unofficial manager?
- 17:04Speaker 2: I did you like just sat right here and just
- 17:06Speaker 2: act like you know what you're doing? No, it was.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Somebody who was trying to like help me, like navigate, gotcha.
- 17:11Speaker 6: Yeah, We're going to navigate to a break real quick.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Man.
- 17:13Speaker 5: We got Sweetie right here on the Butler Alert Show,
- 17:16Speaker 5: right here on revote.
- 17:16Speaker 6: We'll be right back.
- 17:17Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more of the Bawler Alert Show.
- 17:22Speaker 1: You're listening to a special edition of the Baller Alert Show.
- 17:25Speaker 6: Hey, what's up?
- 17:25Speaker 5: A Sweety with a Baller Alert Show? Right here on
- 17:28Speaker 5: re vote beg but more the bro Alert Show. We
- 17:30Speaker 5: got Sweety in the building.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Ye're having a great cab. I love this.
- 17:35Speaker 5: I love the humble beginnings to now just to know
- 17:38Speaker 5: who you are. I want to talk about the mental space,
- 17:42Speaker 5: you know, and the mental health of Sweetie back in
- 17:44Speaker 5: those times to now, how were you were you calling
- 17:46Speaker 5: your mom like you know sometimes like hey, help me
- 17:49Speaker 5: get through this day? Like how did you stay mentally sound,
- 17:52Speaker 5: you know, through the broke times to on your rich
- 17:56Speaker 5: girl journey.
- 17:59Speaker 6: I would say a prayer like I said.
- 18:04Speaker 3: My grandparents were pastors, so I was in the church
- 18:07Speaker 3: like Sunday through Sunday, so that's always like my first
- 18:11Speaker 3: go to I would call my grandmother a lot.
- 18:13Speaker 2: She should pray on the phone with Yeah, she.
- 18:15Speaker 6: Would pray for me.
- 18:16Speaker 3: And then books like one of my favorite favorite books
- 18:18Speaker 3: is The Alchemist?
- 18:19Speaker 6: Really do you read it every year? I read it interestingly.
- 18:23Speaker 3: I read it in every stage in my life, and
- 18:25Speaker 3: every time I read it, I pick up something different
- 18:27Speaker 3: me too.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, so, now, your personal life,
- 18:31Speaker 2: I know you know, sweetie is never alone? Do you
- 18:34Speaker 2: are you? Were you ever in a relationship at these times?
- 18:36Speaker 2: And did it go away? Because hey man, I got
- 18:38Speaker 2: to focus on this right now.
- 18:39Speaker 6: And no, I was so disgusted with myself. I didn't
- 18:41Speaker 6: want to date.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Okay, so you weren't dating anything.
- 18:44Speaker 6: I was one of those like I'm one of those people.
- 18:46Speaker 3: If I'm down bad, especially like financially, and I'm not
- 18:49Speaker 3: where I'm at where I want to be in my career,
- 18:51Speaker 3: I don't want to talk to nobody.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Where does that come from?
- 18:54Speaker 5: Did that?
- 18:55Speaker 2: Did Pops or anybody say, hey man?
- 18:57Speaker 3: I think that's just how I innately felt at the time,
- 18:59Speaker 3: I didn't want to date, like what do I have
- 19:01Speaker 3: to offer?
- 19:02Speaker 6: Like I wanted to get myself together.
- 19:04Speaker 2: That's interesting and that's big on you saying that, because
- 19:07Speaker 2: you know, some people would just date and just be
- 19:09Speaker 2: toxic or you a la.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Some people would just try to find somebody out there
- 19:14Speaker 4: that could, you know, help them.
- 19:16Speaker 5: No, I think that's a cancer trait too, because come on,
- 19:19Speaker 5: you just like you know, like I said, when you
- 19:21Speaker 5: when you don't have any money, or if you don't
- 19:23Speaker 5: feel like you know you who are who you want
- 19:25Speaker 5: to be, you just kind of retreat to your shell
- 19:27Speaker 5: a little bit and then you like, I'm going to
- 19:29Speaker 5: come out when I feel confident.
- 19:30Speaker 2: So that leads me to my next question. So when
- 19:32Speaker 2: do you start feeling comfortable enough within yourself to be
- 19:37Speaker 2: open to that, not saying that you're going to do it,
- 19:39Speaker 2: but to be open to that. When when did that
- 19:41Speaker 2: part happen in your life?
- 19:43Speaker 6: I felt like I was.
- 19:44Speaker 3: I was able to become comfortable with myself after after
- 19:49Speaker 3: I got my deal and after I was able to
- 19:51Speaker 3: like pay off my student loans.
- 19:54Speaker 6: I was able to.
- 19:55Speaker 2: So you paid yours off. I just let my slide,
- 19:57Speaker 2: so you didn't wait on Biden Man.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I was honestly, I was scared because I think how
- 20:03Speaker 3: my loans were set up, Like after a certain amount
- 20:05Speaker 3: of years, I would start to get what do you.
- 20:08Speaker 2: The money taking your account?
- 20:09Speaker 6: No interest?
- 20:14Speaker 3: Yeah, create interest. After a certain amount of years, my
- 20:16Speaker 3: loan would have created interest. So I wanted to pay
- 20:18Speaker 3: minds off before it before I did that.
- 20:20Speaker 2: You in the USC, So I'm pretty sure that tuition
- 20:22Speaker 2: was so you know, it's.
- 20:24Speaker 6: Hella crazy and I think that this was so fed
- 20:27Speaker 6: up cuss.
- 20:31Speaker 3: So when I had transferred to USC because of my grades,
- 20:34Speaker 3: I was covered fully because I forgot what I had
- 20:40Speaker 3: applied for, but my tuition was covered. However, each year
- 20:44Speaker 3: after that, tuition would raise, but my like expenses were
- 20:49Speaker 3: capped at this amount. So it's just like although my
- 20:53Speaker 3: tuition was covered the first year, I spent three more
- 20:55Speaker 3: years in college after that.
- 20:57Speaker 6: Like, yeah, I had to.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I had to take out more money to cover like
- 21:03Speaker 3: the remainder of the balance the loans.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm surprised you never got a scholarship or anything,
- 21:08Speaker 5: because then you run track.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I played volleyball, volleyball, yeah, but I have got a
- 21:13Speaker 3: full ride scholarship to like the D two schools in
- 21:17Speaker 3: the Midwest. You didn't want to go there, and I
- 21:19Speaker 3: wanted to be in the city. But in hindsight, I
- 21:21Speaker 3: do wish I would have at least tried it because
- 21:24Speaker 3: I missed sports so much. Oh yeah, yeah, sports really
- 21:27Speaker 3: like instilled like my like how I work, okay, and
- 21:31Speaker 3: how I work with people.
- 21:32Speaker 5: You ever want to consider doing, you know, starting a
- 21:35Speaker 5: league or anything like that, And later on.
- 21:37Speaker 3: I would consider like sponsoring volleyball girls. Yeah, maybe not
- 21:42Speaker 3: creating a league, but just like endorsing them. Because my
- 21:45Speaker 3: senior year of college, we couldn't afford the sports package
- 21:50Speaker 3: for our senior year. And you know, my coach loved
- 21:52Speaker 3: me dearly, but he was like, if you can't pay this,
- 21:54Speaker 3: you can't play. So I stood in front of a
- 21:56Speaker 3: bank for eight hours and raised the money and then
- 21:58Speaker 3: paid off and paid off my my senior year fee.
- 22:03Speaker 6: Whatever that was.
- 22:04Speaker 5: How did you what was you doing in front of
- 22:06Speaker 5: the bank.
- 22:07Speaker 6: I had on my volleyball T shirt.
- 22:08Speaker 3: I was in front the Chase Bank and it was
- 22:10Speaker 3: hella hot outside, but I came out there at eight
- 22:13Speaker 3: am and I basically just asked for money from quarters
- 22:17Speaker 3: to fifty dollars bills.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Wow, Like people do.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Now.
- 22:20Speaker 2: That's what I don't believe them now.
- 22:28Speaker 4: I think I think back in the day that worked,
- 22:30Speaker 4: But I think now I think they're scamming out.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Could you do be looking like they about six five
- 22:35Speaker 2: and forty years old?
- 22:37Speaker 6: Don't have on no uniform either.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Boys, bro.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I seen somebody come up to me the other day
- 22:42Speaker 4: talking about, Yeah, you want to support my football boy?
- 22:45Speaker 2: You forty two? You was not in you was not
- 22:47Speaker 2: doing no football league. No.
- 22:49Speaker 3: But one thing that I learned that day was I
- 22:51Speaker 3: still in front of a bank and then I went
- 22:53Speaker 3: over to the grocery store to see if it would like,
- 22:56Speaker 3: if it would change people like who are grocery shopping
- 23:00Speaker 3: are less likely to donate than people going to the bank,
- 23:03Speaker 3: because what are you what are you doing at a bank?
- 23:04Speaker 3: You're going to get moneyey, So it was like a
- 23:07Speaker 3: quick lesson learned. But I was like, I never doing
- 23:09Speaker 3: this again. But if you are out like trying to
- 23:11Speaker 3: sell something, I recommend standing in front of a bank
- 23:13Speaker 3: than any other like.
- 23:14Speaker 5: Pay yourself or did you have your parents with you?
- 23:18Speaker 6: I was by myself. I was like, I'm gonna go
- 23:20Speaker 6: get this money.
- 23:21Speaker 5: Wow.
- 23:21Speaker 6: He was stugging it.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Man.
- 23:23Speaker 6: I love it. I respect it.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I respect your hustle. I'm about to say I respect
- 23:26Speaker 2: the hustle too. So graduating college, I know that was
- 23:30Speaker 2: a big deal for you. Was it the big deal?
- 23:33Speaker 2: Did everybody come down for it? Did you walk across
- 23:35Speaker 2: the stage? Okay?
- 23:37Speaker 5: Did you also feel that pressure to as a kid
- 23:41Speaker 5: like I need to do this for my parents to finish?
- 23:43Speaker 2: Be pressurized to finish?
- 23:45Speaker 3: I think, not necessarily to finish, but to get good grades,
- 23:49Speaker 3: because I'm just like, if I'm.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Not getting grades in college, what was your GPA?
- 23:52Speaker 6: Three point six?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Wow, that's great in college time. She's just like you
- 23:56Speaker 2: was taking out.
- 23:57Speaker 6: Loans and I was taking out loans.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Come on, man, y'all got to.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Now, because for me, the scholarships would be like fifteen hundred,
- 24:07Speaker 3: fifteen hundred. I don't want to be riding a whole
- 24:08Speaker 3: bunch of essays for fifteen hundred dollars.
- 24:11Speaker 6: There's a lot of essays you got to write.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I do think to the volleyball lane would be a
- 24:17Speaker 2: popping lane for you, because I don't really see any
- 24:20Speaker 2: celebrities talking about volleyball bringing it like almost like the
- 24:24Speaker 2: w NBA, like everyone's talking about it now. If I
- 24:27Speaker 2: see volleyball on TV, I'll stop and watch it because
- 24:29Speaker 2: I actually think it's actually very complex sport and it's
- 24:32Speaker 2: a very team related sport. You have to need you
- 24:35Speaker 2: need each other out there wanting to get that ball
- 24:37Speaker 2: over to us. You got to communicate coach the coordination
- 24:41Speaker 2: and hitting the ball and making sure you know he
- 24:44Speaker 2: talking about it's a setup. You get the person. You
- 24:46Speaker 2: got to have someone that's like a set up person.
- 24:49Speaker 2: My daughter played Oh okay, But I say I will
- 24:51Speaker 2: watch it though, But like watching it on TV, it's
- 24:53Speaker 2: the ultimate team sport if you're watching volleyball.
- 24:55Speaker 5: But speaking about that team sport and that being your background,
- 24:59Speaker 5: did you go into to that business wise when you
- 25:01Speaker 5: were at Warner and how everybody plays a team in
- 25:04Speaker 5: communication with you know, did you have a plan on
- 25:08Speaker 5: how you wanted things done and then they backed you
- 25:10Speaker 5: or how did that work.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I'm a very visual person, so when it comes to
- 25:14Speaker 3: like presenting, I like to have my mood boards.
- 25:16Speaker 6: I like to write everything out and then I present it.
- 25:19Speaker 3: But when it comes to just having a background in sports,
- 25:22Speaker 3: I prefer to work with people who played sports because
- 25:25Speaker 3: they tend to have a higher like emotional intelligence.
- 25:29Speaker 4: They have.
- 25:29Speaker 6: They just have better a better.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Skill set when it comes to communication, and they're less
- 25:35Speaker 3: ego driven. They understand that like word team and we're
- 25:38Speaker 3: all working for like the greater good and the bigger picture.
- 25:41Speaker 5: Did you was anybody on the label from sports or
- 25:45Speaker 5: did you pick Hey? I want to work with this,
- 25:46Speaker 5: A and R. I want to do X, Y and Z.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Not necessarily with the label, but with like my internal team, okay,
- 25:53Speaker 3: like management or like the creatives that I hire around me.
- 25:55Speaker 6: I'm always curious to see if you play the.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Sport hard it is to get the labels behind you,
- 26:01Speaker 4: because I seen when you release your new song, you
- 26:04Speaker 4: told the label.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Kicking that butch. I actually even backed that up, and
- 26:11Speaker 2: later on in the comments I said they should definitely
- 26:13Speaker 2: open the butt. Roary was definitely talking about I don't notice,
- 26:16Speaker 2: but I worked at Warner for eight months last year.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Wait did that meet you one time? Yeah? Okay, so
- 26:22Speaker 2: eight months I was there last year, and of course
- 26:25Speaker 2: you were one of the main party, the priority so birthday,
- 26:30Speaker 2: all those records, like, yeah, so I had a dope
- 26:33Speaker 2: moment just seeing your music and hearing your music and
- 26:36Speaker 2: stuff like that. So I just say that to say
- 26:39Speaker 2: this ninety record, and I know we will probably take
- 26:41Speaker 2: a break and come back with it. This is a
- 26:42Speaker 2: very good record for you. Thank you.
- 26:44Speaker 6: Yeah, let's do that right now. Take a break. We'll
- 26:45Speaker 6: be right back with more sweety on the Butler Alert Show.
- 26:48Speaker 1: We'll be right back, Stay tuned with more of the
- 26:50Speaker 1: Baller Alert Show. You're listening to a special edition of
- 26:56Speaker 1: the Baller Alert Show.
- 26:57Speaker 6: Hey, what's up a sweety with a Baller Alert Show
- 26:59Speaker 6: right here?
- 27:00Speaker 5: I'm a vote back with more of the Brother Law Show.
- 27:02Speaker 5: We got so weedy.
- 27:05Speaker 4: You're talking about that new record and a label, you know,
- 27:07Speaker 4: opening up that budget. So when you put the record
- 27:11Speaker 4: out right, is the record?
- 27:16Speaker 2: Who is nanny? What is nanny?
- 27:18Speaker 6: Is a feeling?
- 27:19Speaker 2: Okay? Someone makes you feel like.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Nanny is just like a it's like a main character energy.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Like oh oh but look y'all to sidetracked me.
- 27:36Speaker 4: So when you at least the record with you know what,
- 27:40Speaker 4: you're expecting this positive response like no, hmmm.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I feel like every time I've released a record, like
- 27:46Speaker 3: even with like my big records, like tapping my type
- 27:49Speaker 3: best Friend, I've always just had such a it's like
- 27:56Speaker 3: almost how do I say this? It's like cool, to
- 27:59Speaker 3: like true me. So for every release date, like someone
- 28:03Speaker 3: will come up with with like a false narrative or
- 28:06Speaker 3: a way to like troll me on my release date.
- 28:08Speaker 3: So I used to like get really nervous for like
- 28:10Speaker 3: my release dates, but eventually, like you become like desensitized
- 28:13Speaker 3: to internet culture. However, for this release, I was really
- 28:18Speaker 3: shocked by all the positivity and I was really grateful
- 28:21Speaker 3: for it because I've never experienced that much love on
- 28:24Speaker 3: like a release date.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody was like this is the one I do.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Want to rewind just quickly and to stay on topic
- 28:32Speaker 2: because My Type was a very big record for you,
- 28:34Speaker 2: best friend. I you actually used that instrument on my radio.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Showmmy nominated thank you and when both.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Of those went number one, correct me if I'm wrong. My
- 28:42Speaker 2: type is like you're really aggressive in there, like you like,
- 28:46Speaker 2: what was the motivation for my type? Cuts to somebody
- 28:49Speaker 2: out like you want to know?
- 28:51Speaker 6: Yeah, guy, my type was it this record?
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yes, I felt that who I'm not going to.
- 28:58Speaker 5: It was a dis record to a guy like I
- 29:02Speaker 5: had to.
- 29:03Speaker 3: I had to change the chorus because I had said
- 29:07Speaker 3: it was. It was arranged a different way. But I
- 29:10Speaker 3: remember I felt like somebody had played me. So I
- 29:14Speaker 3: was like, like I was saying what my type was
- 29:17Speaker 3: because I was like my my energy was like, oh
- 29:20Speaker 3: I'm going to be back on the market, like I'm
- 29:22Speaker 3: looking for my type.
- 29:24Speaker 6: So, yes, you're right.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I said, no, she cuts to somebody out of this.
- 29:32Speaker 6: It originally was I got new new new wrist.
- 29:36Speaker 2: You're mad. You're mad when you say that?
- 29:38Speaker 6: Initially said new whip snoop. But around.
- 29:46Speaker 2: This was this person that you're talking. Okay, well the
- 29:49Speaker 2: motivation for the song are they like, were they popular
- 29:52Speaker 2: or were they not popular? It was something that they
- 29:54Speaker 2: tried you or.
- 29:54Speaker 6: It was such a long time.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Because this was the next that was that was after
- 30:02Speaker 2: my type came after so Icy? Correct, Yeah, best friend
- 30:06Speaker 2: came the best friend? Is you put me on the
- 30:09Speaker 2: Doja Cat? I knew nothing about Doja Cat until best Friends? Really, Wow,
- 30:15Speaker 2: I'm just saying fans now, I'm just saying she put
- 30:18Speaker 2: me onto doj I'm just guys.
- 30:22Speaker 6: I feel you.
- 30:22Speaker 5: But let's get back to sweetie. How did you feel
- 30:25Speaker 5: to be nominated for a Grammy though? Facts, because now
- 30:29Speaker 5: you on another level.
- 30:31Speaker 6: It was surreal. Yeah, it was surreal.
- 30:34Speaker 5: When you first got the dudes or was it feeling.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Like what, I don't know, you don't want to know.
- 30:38Speaker 3: What's interesting. No one celebrated it. Nobody said what you
- 30:43Speaker 3: mean by la you mean, I just no one celebrated it.
- 30:48Speaker 3: I didn't celebrate it. I was working a lot, so
- 30:50Speaker 3: I never really liked tooking that moment. Oh yeah, so
- 30:53Speaker 3: it's like I was celebrating it now, thank you. I
- 30:56Speaker 3: was grateful for it, but I was working so much
- 30:58Speaker 3: and I don't know, like, no one really made it
- 31:02Speaker 3: a big deal.
- 31:03Speaker 6: So I didn't make it a big deal. That's unfortunate.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you see an accomplishment.
- 31:08Speaker 6: Thank you?
- 31:09Speaker 5: And do you take time sometimes when you make these
- 31:13Speaker 5: these big strides in your career, do you take time
- 31:17Speaker 5: to celebrate or do you just keep going?
- 31:19Speaker 6: Now I'm extra as fuck.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Now.
- 31:22Speaker 3: I really try to practice gratitude. That's one of the
- 31:25Speaker 3: first things I practiced in the morning, because it's just
- 31:27Speaker 3: like I don't want to go by life so much
- 31:30Speaker 3: to where everything becomes blurred and I don't appreciate the
- 31:34Speaker 3: little things, the medium things, the big things, or just anything.
- 31:37Speaker 3: So I try to like show my gratitude as much.
- 31:40Speaker 6: As I can.
- 31:40Speaker 4: No, I like the fact that that you take time
- 31:43Speaker 4: out to appreciate the hard work, because I do feel
- 31:45Speaker 4: like a lot of times, just us as people in general,
- 31:48Speaker 4: like you know, everybody's working so much, and a lot
- 31:51Speaker 4: of times you don't get the chance to, you know,
- 31:53Speaker 4: celebrate the winds. And because a lot of people, you know,
- 31:56Speaker 4: they cry about the losses, but we don't celebrate.
- 31:58Speaker 3: The winds right right, And even going to that, like
- 32:01Speaker 3: I try to remember the girl who was running rooms
- 32:04Speaker 3: off of Craigslist, like writing down my goals, manifesting, praying,
- 32:08Speaker 3: and I'm just like.
- 32:10Speaker 6: She would be so happy right now. So you need
- 32:12Speaker 6: to celebrate, do you.
- 32:13Speaker 5: I was gonna say, do you go back to church
- 32:15Speaker 5: any and you know, right now in your adult life?
- 32:18Speaker 3: And when I go see my grandparents, yes, And then
- 32:22Speaker 3: for the holidays, when I'm in La, I'll go with
- 32:24Speaker 3: like my cousins and my uncle to like a local church.
- 32:27Speaker 5: You know, when you get into the spirit, do you
- 32:28Speaker 5: have those reflections of I came a long way.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Robbie shouting, I'll be speaking at times?
- 32:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, what should be putting the offering table a lot?
- 32:39Speaker 4: Tie?
- 32:40Speaker 6: Do you tie? Yeah?
- 32:41Speaker 2: Okay, that's good. Yeah, that's why you're so blessed now?
- 32:45Speaker 2: What is co sign from like a big female rapper?
- 32:49Speaker 2: Happened that you was like, oh snap.
- 32:51Speaker 6: My favorite co sign I've ever gotten with some share.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Wow.
- 32:55Speaker 5: We made it the Calvin client campaign, right, the mac
- 32:59Speaker 5: cambinack campaign.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I like shared. When you meet her, you can tell
- 33:05Speaker 3: she has a lot of discernment, Like she's really like
- 33:08Speaker 3: she she a young, She a young girl. She she
- 33:11Speaker 3: ain't aged one bit when we see now that she's
- 33:14Speaker 3: one day. Right, yes, this isn't so Share gave you
- 33:21Speaker 3: a big co sign that was dope. Yeah, And she's
- 33:24Speaker 3: always just every time I hit her, she hits me back.
- 33:27Speaker 6: Wow, she's hella cool.
- 33:28Speaker 3: I had dinner at her house after we had did
- 33:31Speaker 3: that campaign, and she's just like full of stories, full
- 33:35Speaker 3: of love, full of confidence, full of life.
- 33:37Speaker 5: How do you handle like, like you said, it's easy
- 33:40Speaker 5: to troll, sweetie, how do you handle criticism?
- 33:43Speaker 2: Girl so highly criticized?
- 33:46Speaker 3: So literally when I was going through like my spiritual awakening,
- 33:49Speaker 3: when like I had shaved all my hair off, I
- 33:52Speaker 3: was just just reading a lot, and I remember there
- 33:55Speaker 3: was a there was a philosophy in this in this
- 33:58Speaker 3: think piece about the matrix that we're in, and basically
- 34:02Speaker 3: like everybody plays a role. So if you look at
- 34:04Speaker 3: like a hater or a criticizer as just like the
- 34:08Speaker 3: bad player and you're the protagonist, it helps you like
- 34:11Speaker 3: view your life a lot differently, because in every movie
- 34:14Speaker 3: there's a bad guy, like we're not.
- 34:16Speaker 6: None of us is excluded from that.
- 34:18Speaker 3: So every time somebody comes at me, I'm just like, Okay,
- 34:21Speaker 3: you the You're like the opposition in my story. You're
- 34:24Speaker 3: the NPC, maybe like Trinity. Okay, but I feel like
- 34:30Speaker 3: we're all neo in our own stories. And I feel
- 34:34Speaker 3: like that movie is is just so symbolic for just
- 34:38Speaker 3: us awakening in the world.
- 34:41Speaker 6: That we're in the Matrix movie.
- 34:44Speaker 3: And when you're able to like distinguish the haters as
- 34:49Speaker 3: like the men in black with the glasses on, it
- 34:53Speaker 3: just helps you.
- 34:54Speaker 6: It's like a relief, like that's your job to do that.
- 34:57Speaker 6: I understand. I'm gonna let you do your job while
- 35:00Speaker 6: I do mine.
- 35:01Speaker 4: I feel like celebrities, why do y'all let the comments
- 35:05Speaker 4: and the people on the internet make y'all so mad?
- 35:08Speaker 6: Do you read the comments? You can't make me, man,
- 35:10Speaker 6: I'm gonna try you right back.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Okay, you read them?
- 35:14Speaker 6: Do you read the comments?
- 35:15Speaker 3: So you know I do read them because I also
- 35:17Speaker 3: respond to positivity. I can't help that there might be
- 35:20Speaker 3: like some hate in between the positivity, but I'm so
- 35:23Speaker 3: desensitized because of the amount of hate I receive. So
- 35:27Speaker 3: I mean, it's just one of those moments where your
- 35:28Speaker 3: trauma makes you stronger.
- 35:30Speaker 2: But you do know that fans are doing that to
- 35:32Speaker 2: get a response.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Because absolutely, because when I'm mentally sparring with them, when
- 35:36Speaker 3: they tooche and they be like okay, bitch, like you're funny,
- 35:39Speaker 3: or like we get it, they become a fan.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Or they've been looking to get a rid, or they
- 35:44Speaker 4: may have been a fan that's been trying to get
- 35:45Speaker 4: your attention. So I love you, I love your music,
- 35:47Speaker 4: I love what you're doing. And you might never see that.
- 35:49Speaker 4: But as soon as they say, oh I don't like
- 35:52Speaker 4: you no more, you am like, well, I don't like
- 35:54Speaker 4: you neither.
- 35:54Speaker 3: They're like, yes you responded, no, no, no, it's a
- 35:56Speaker 3: it's a I don't respond to audi hate. It's like
- 35:59Speaker 3: it's really like it's it has to have a little
- 36:02Speaker 3: humor to it. If you just outrightly just disrespectful, I'm
- 36:05Speaker 3: just gonna ignore you.
- 36:06Speaker 6: And do you block them? Or I don't know, you
- 36:09Speaker 6: just let move. You get a mute, You get a
- 36:11Speaker 6: mute everybody.
- 36:13Speaker 5: You got way too many followers to even the same thing,
- 36:17Speaker 5: not as muting, because even a block is a response,
- 36:19Speaker 5: and I do want something.
- 36:20Speaker 3: I don't like when the haters be like, oh, someone's
- 36:22Speaker 3: so blocked me. Now you ain't gonna get that for me.
- 36:24Speaker 4: So when you making music, dude, I know you said
- 36:27Speaker 4: you always every release, you always get a bunch of hate.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Does that kind of mess up like the creativity of
- 36:32Speaker 4: doing the music, because you like, I gotta put some
- 36:34Speaker 4: music that's gonna make these people in the comments or
- 36:36Speaker 4: the internet, you know, actually like it.
- 36:39Speaker 3: You know, I'm really I'm really a big fan of alchemy,
- 36:45Speaker 3: and I feel like when you're able to like transmute
- 36:48Speaker 3: negativity as a positivity, it could work. Because I remember
- 36:51Speaker 3: I got dragged for taping and they was like, oh, Sweetie,
- 36:54Speaker 3: can't wrap. She sounds like a kindergartener. I went back
- 36:57Speaker 3: and I wrote pretty VIIs freestyle. So I took that
- 37:00Speaker 3: hate and I transmuted it into creativity. And then two
- 37:03Speaker 3: weeks later I dropped this amazing freestyle on my birthday
- 37:06Speaker 3: that's still one of my fan favorites. I think that
- 37:09Speaker 3: as long as we like use the hate for a
- 37:11Speaker 3: better good, we'll be all right.
- 37:13Speaker 2: You also have people that are fans of you with
- 37:16Speaker 2: your style, your looks.
- 37:18Speaker 6: I love it.
- 37:19Speaker 2: I think that's a great thing for artists who has
- 37:23Speaker 2: two sets of fans. Are we gonna see like a
- 37:27Speaker 2: career in that field because I kind of see that
- 37:30Speaker 2: you kind of, to me, looks like you're solely music
- 37:34Speaker 2: first and only.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I think that once I solidified, like my music, released
- 37:39Speaker 3: my first album, then I'll go into my other outlets
- 37:43Speaker 3: of creativity.
- 37:44Speaker 6: But right now, it's just this album.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Okay, what's the title of the album?
- 37:48Speaker 3: You know, my movement was pretty much music, and that's
- 37:50Speaker 3: what I was calling it, But I don't After the
- 37:52Speaker 3: body of work is done, I'm gonna release it with
- 37:54Speaker 3: it and see if that's what I'm still gonna call.
- 37:56Speaker 2: It this year. M You know, so you're gonna change
- 37:59Speaker 2: the name possibly? What's some other names you got?
- 38:02Speaker 6: I don't know. I don't have the names yet.
- 38:06Speaker 2: I like this. I like this hat. What is this called? Actually?
- 38:09Speaker 6: Shout out to one of my fans.
- 38:10Speaker 3: I did an activation hike at Runyon Canyon and they
- 38:15Speaker 3: some of them brought me presents and this was one
- 38:17Speaker 3: of them.
- 38:19Speaker 6: I already had the boots.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Oh so it goes with the boots.
- 38:22Speaker 6: Let match the boat.
- 38:23Speaker 4: I was really impressed by when I saw you had
- 38:26Speaker 4: the deal with McDonald's and I remember I was telling somebody.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I was like, man, y'all know sway they gotta deal
- 38:32Speaker 2: with McDonald's. Like that's a big deal. How did you
- 38:35Speaker 2: get that?
- 38:37Speaker 6: From going live and being authentically me and eating crazy?
- 38:40Speaker 6: It was crazy. People was like dragged me for how
- 38:43Speaker 6: I ate, but then how.
- 38:43Speaker 4: I am So McDonald's they just reached out to you
- 38:47Speaker 4: and that was like, hey, we want to, you know,
- 38:49Speaker 4: do a partnership deal with you or something like that.
- 38:51Speaker 3: So they were gearing up for a campaign and someone
- 38:55Speaker 3: has sent all the live videos of me really enjoying
- 38:58Speaker 3: like my McDonald's nails.
- 39:01Speaker 6: That's why they had one with me.
- 39:02Speaker 5: But you've you've had a lot of big deals, I
- 39:04Speaker 5: mean from McDonald's Hidden Valley Ranch, like Hidden Valley Ranch
- 39:09Speaker 5: had crocs that you were a part of. Uh, you
- 39:12Speaker 5: had pretty little thing like we said, the Matt campaign,
- 39:15Speaker 5: Calvin Clent Champ, Champs Champions. Uh, you know, do they
- 39:20Speaker 5: reach out to you through your management or I'm doing
- 39:23Speaker 5: my agency. Okay, so you're you're signed with an agency, yes, okay,
- 39:27Speaker 5: how did you acquire that?
- 39:28Speaker 6: Just on the internet or just I'm my manager helped me?
- 39:31Speaker 5: Is that something that you said to her? Hey, I
- 39:33Speaker 5: want to do that too, or.
- 39:36Speaker 3: With my I've been with my management team for about
- 39:38Speaker 3: a year and we were really were going through like
- 39:42Speaker 3: every facet of my business, and one of those was
- 39:45Speaker 3: the agency. So I had met up with these people
- 39:48Speaker 3: and we're about three months in, but we've had we
- 39:52Speaker 3: have some exciting things coming up.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Well.
- 39:54Speaker 5: Another exciting thing that I was excited to see you
- 39:56Speaker 5: a part of was b MTh out the season three
- 39:59Speaker 5: and you got to acting bagging that.
- 40:03Speaker 6: What was that experience?
- 40:04Speaker 2: Like?
- 40:05Speaker 6: It was nice.
- 40:06Speaker 3: I really enjoy being on other creative sets because it's
- 40:09Speaker 3: not pressure on me to like run and dictate everything,
- 40:12Speaker 3: and I really enjoy seeing someone else's vision come to life.
- 40:16Speaker 6: Hmmm, you want to do more acting? Absolutely?
- 40:19Speaker 5: You just you're just gonna keep taking it to the top.
- 40:21Speaker 2: I love it you're doing.
- 40:23Speaker 4: You're doing a lot of things, acting, music, video, a
- 40:26Speaker 4: little duval activities, activities.
- 40:28Speaker 3: I love that video. No, that was not me, I
- 40:35Speaker 3: thought I wasn't. Okay, we look nice though, period.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Now you're in your rich activities. It's Sweety single.
- 40:45Speaker 6: Doesn't everybody want to know that? Yeah, you gotta pay
- 40:48Speaker 6: me for that.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Oh my god, her, she's definitely.
- 40:55Speaker 6: I'm married for the game.
- 40:56Speaker 2: But man, I've been saying, I'll be saying you on
- 41:00Speaker 2: the blogs. You don't want a single? She buried to
- 41:03Speaker 2: the game?
- 41:03Speaker 5: Bro?
- 41:08Speaker 2: Sweet? What what?
- 41:09Speaker 4: What is?
- 41:09Speaker 2: What does a guy have to do to get Sweety's attention?
- 41:13Speaker 6: Mm hmmm. Humor make me laugh, make you laugh?
- 41:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and take you all your foody like I'm assuming
- 41:20Speaker 2: big foody.
- 41:22Speaker 5: I'm not the perhaps a salad, perhaps not.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Perhaps. I'm just saying so, do you think so? I'm
- 41:28Speaker 2: just saying this. Do you think you have a future
- 41:30Speaker 2: of media? You actually be really good? Yeah, definitely because
- 41:34Speaker 2: you're funny. Okay. Last question? Is in and out Burger
- 41:36Speaker 2: the same thing as McDonald's. Hell no, okay, you said
- 41:40Speaker 2: in and out better than McDonald's. Is it the same
- 41:42Speaker 2: thing as McDonald's. I'm not saying, I'm just asking, Man,
- 41:46Speaker 2: look like California.
- 41:47Speaker 6: Man, now you're going to the this year? I might Okay.
- 41:52Speaker 5: Now they're celebrating usher, they're giving him the Lifetime Achievement.
- 41:55Speaker 5: I stop, Who do you think should do his tribute?
- 42:00Speaker 3: You know, that's a really good question. When they were
- 42:02Speaker 3: listening out, like the women who should do it? I
- 42:05Speaker 3: thought that Tianna Taylor would be good because you know
- 42:07Speaker 3: she has her ass off. Yeah, they mentioned I'm Victoria Monnet.
- 42:12Speaker 6: I think Coco Jones.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Took and I just really loved how they were able
- 42:15Speaker 3: to incorporate women into that. So I'm excited to see
- 42:18Speaker 3: the man and the woman that they pick because he
- 42:20Speaker 3: has a.
- 42:21Speaker 6: Catalog for days. But what's the men that they said?
- 42:24Speaker 6: I wasn't really paying attention to that.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I ain't saying no,
- 42:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 42:29Speaker 3: What's your what's your favorite user songest?
- 42:32Speaker 2: Can you have? Mine? Would be their face? Man would
- 42:40Speaker 2: be after tonight to play it for real?
- 42:44Speaker 5: Well come coming off the top of my head. I
- 42:47Speaker 5: like seduction. I love the beat. They get my attention.
- 42:52Speaker 5: His best song is Superstar.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Okay, so wait, I know we're about to go soon,
- 43:06Speaker 2: But does does Sweetie have like stalkers?
- 43:10Speaker 6: When you break it down, it's coming to all my shows.
- 43:12Speaker 6: I don't call them.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Stock are fans. I'm talking about the one. No, I'm
- 43:15Speaker 2: not I got those the scary ones. I'm talking about
- 43:18Speaker 2: the ones that are kind of scary, Like, yo.
- 43:20Speaker 6: I don't really have scary things.
- 43:22Speaker 4: Okay, cool, So you've never had a crazy fan experience? Mmm?
- 43:27Speaker 3: I mean the craziest thing I would say is people
- 43:29Speaker 3: coming up to me when I'm eating.
- 43:31Speaker 6: I don't like that. Let me finish my food.
- 43:34Speaker 2: What do they say when people come up to you
- 43:35Speaker 2: when you I.
- 43:36Speaker 6: Don't mean to interrupt? Can you take this.
- 43:41Speaker 3: Now?
- 43:41Speaker 4: You're ta of people telling you to just model what
- 43:46Speaker 4: you what you think about when people tell you that?
- 43:48Speaker 6: Oh no, I like, why would I leave all this
- 43:49Speaker 6: money on the table?
- 43:50Speaker 2: Hello? Hello?
- 43:56Speaker 6: So is it is a tour coming soon? Or in
- 44:00Speaker 6: the perfect.
- 44:01Speaker 3: World, I want to open up for someone, and then
- 44:03Speaker 3: after that I want to go on my own tour.
- 44:05Speaker 5: Who would you dream to open up for?
- 44:07Speaker 6: I'm not sure, but I want to do somebody? Fine, Okay, yeah, it's.
- 44:10Speaker 5: That in alignment, like in the next couple years year.
- 44:13Speaker 3: Now, probably at the end of this year beginning of
- 44:16Speaker 3: next year, I have a lot of singles lined up
- 44:18Speaker 3: like this is I feel like this is the first
- 44:19Speaker 3: time in my career where I'm prepped. It's not just oh,
- 44:22Speaker 3: put this song out it's hot. Then we have to
- 44:24Speaker 3: go back to the studio. Like no, I have a
- 44:26Speaker 3: lot of songs that's lined up.
- 44:27Speaker 5: Okay, man, Well, we so proud of you, Sweety. We
- 44:29Speaker 5: thank you for kicking it with us.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I got one more question, sweetie.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Is there any female that you haven't worked with yet
- 44:35Speaker 4: that you want to work with in hip hop?
- 44:37Speaker 6: Or just period?
- 44:37Speaker 2: Just period?
- 44:38Speaker 6: Carol G.
- 44:40Speaker 3: She's like my girl crush. She's so beautiful. Yeah, and
- 44:43Speaker 3: she's like such a delight in person. I like her vibe,
- 44:46Speaker 3: I like her music, I like her style.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Oh man, whoa, I feel like that's what happened.
- 44:53Speaker 6: Hey girl, Sorry man, Sweety. Before we get out of here,
- 44:57Speaker 6: we do have a pep talk. Hey, what's up?
