- 0:01We're recording. I have my washing out of the
- 0:03dryer. It's up there now.
- 0:07It's now in a pile on the floor. Welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm
- 0:13with your hosts Matt, Luke, and Dan.
- 0:17Multiple Nerdgasm, Your guide to all things nerdy.
- 0:31Still, yeah, in a pile in the basket, still wet as it means I
- 0:34have to re wash it and re dry it tomorrow because who believes to
- 0:38dry it on low, correct? That guys has settings other
- 0:43than Yeah put this on until it. Dries mine, just mine mine.
- 0:47We were, we our house came with some which probably did have a
- 0:50low setting actually because it was older, but we got new ones
- 0:53and it just I put stuff in and it goes, what is that?
- 0:55And I say, Oh, that's, that's just clothes.
- 0:57And it goes all right, I got it. What else?
- 0:59What is it expecting other than clothes?
- 1:02Oh, like the? That's a possum, a wet.
- 1:04Possum like towels or you know, the the bedding or whatever,
- 1:09right, right. The ones that used to have.
- 1:10Real hard on. Yeah, the one I used to have,
- 1:13there was a just a cupboard button.
- 1:15So you just put the clothes in, you hit cupboard and it would
- 1:18work out what's in there and then dry it so you can just put
- 1:21it directly into the cupboard. OK, I, I, you know what, at
- 1:24first I was like, is he saying cupboard?
- 1:26No, he can't be saying cupboard. He must be saying cupboard.
- 1:28And then it wouldn't. Understand.
- 1:30What does it do? It just worked out what it is
- 1:33and then makes it dry enough that when it stops can go
- 1:35straight in the cupboard. Right.
- 1:37Yeah, OK. It doesn't sort them though.
- 1:40No, it folds them. That's.
- 1:42A drain? Yeah, I'll tell you what doesn't
- 1:43really you if you used. I know you probably have both of
- 1:47you use those stupid washer dryer fucking combos in Europe.
- 1:51Yeah, fucking I hate. That why are people living like
- 1:54that? Why are people living like that?
- 1:56Remember, we're we're. Free in every three days.
- 1:59We were trying to just wash and dry our clothes.
- 2:02It wasn't even like we had a lot of clothes in there.
- 2:04I just. Nothing it.
- 2:06Doesn't. Wash properly or dry properly.
- 2:09No, because, and then we used one in Scotland when we were
- 2:11there and it was in like a, we had like a Airbnb thing and we
- 2:17had plenty of time. So I was just like, yeah, just
- 2:19let it dry everything. And everything came out like
- 2:22fucking crumpled up piece of paper.
- 2:25Like, like, I've got pants that have just not been the same.
- 2:29They have permanent increases all through.
- 2:32Yeah. Like why are people living like
- 2:34that? Yeah, they're in Singapore.
- 2:39When when you. Know what else people in
- 2:41Australia if if you still do this, people certainly used to
- 2:45do this, was paying clothes outside.
- 2:49Yeah, nobody's here. Nobody does that here.
- 2:52Nobody does that. Everybody uses the dryer for for
- 2:55always and then forever. I don't have anywhere to hang
- 2:58clothes. You've all got dries, but none
- 3:00of you have kettles. You're the odd one out for.
- 3:02Having. That's right.
- 3:02Now, when you told me that, it blew my mind.
- 3:04And I asked the Americans at my work, do you guys have kettles?
- 3:07And they're like, no, we don't. And I'm like, what happens if
- 3:09you want to boil water and one of them goes, oh, I don't know,
- 3:12put a cup in the microwave? I'm like, fucking what?
- 3:14Really. Yeah, that is the answer.
- 3:18But what do you do? That's right, you've got the
- 3:20coffee. Drip coffee machines if you
- 3:22want. Yeah, I guess they don't make
- 3:23tea and they don't do coffee the same.
- 3:25Way, Yeah, yeah. So instant coffee like a Mecona
- 3:29or a Nest Cafe Blend 43 where you spoon granules in boiling
- 3:35water. That doesn't exist in America.
- 3:37You can, you can get it, but people don't drink that very
- 3:39often. In fact, I saw a thing the other
- 3:41day, people Starbucks do make little tubes of it for like
- 3:46travel and stuff. So it's around.
- 3:47And I was like, oh, that's what we all used to drink.
- 3:50They're like, but how do I get the water hot enough?
- 3:52Yeah, well, they're travelling. It's probably kettles in these
- 3:55exotic places like Australia. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:59You can see like Kettle from here.
- 4:01It's also instant coffee there too, but they don't know that.
- 4:06Yes, they also have. Everybody here has toaster
- 4:10ovens. We don't have one because I'm.
- 4:13I just can't see the need. For it like everybody has one
- 4:16story grill that sits on your countertop is that.
- 4:19Correct. What you mean?
- 4:19Yeah, OK. It's like you've got an oven and
- 4:23you've got, oh, I guess they don't have toasters.
- 4:24We have a toaster. A slot toaster.
- 4:26What? Because that's what.
- 4:26I don't have toasters either. What they have they, OK, they
- 4:30have toaster ovens. They have those big things.
- 4:32If they want toast, yeah, you get the big toaster thing that
- 4:36you pull the thing down and they'll put it in and they'll do
- 4:38it that way. Like a sandwich press thing.
- 4:41No, it's more like a. More like a like a hotel buffet.
- 4:46You know when you use the oven, it's got what they call the top
- 4:49section. We call it a broiler here, but
- 4:50it's not called that in Australia.
- 4:51What the fuck is that called? The grill?
- 4:52Yeah. Right.
- 4:53Yeah, yeah. So it's.
- 4:56Just like a just the grill. Desktop, one of the countertop
- 4:58version of that, yeah, everybody has those.
- 5:02And the one at work is also an air fryer.
- 5:05And I was like, well, that's, that's useful.
- 5:07Yeah, OK. Have you ever could get a piece
- 5:10of weed? That's what I.
- 5:12I've air fried a grilled cheese and it works pretty well.
- 5:16Amazing. Which is basically 2 pieces of
- 5:19toast with cheese in the middle. So.
- 5:23All right, now I did what I said I was going to do last week, and
- 5:25I went to the movies I saw two weeks later.
- 5:29Oh, and. I enjoyed it and the good thing
- 5:34is it's not like it's you had to have remembered seeing the 1st 2
- 5:38movies or anything because I I cannot remember them.
- 5:41I saw them. Well, the first one is pretty
- 5:43well, but the second one I think I'd have.
- 5:45I'd struggle remembering the details.
- 5:47Yeah, I. Don't all all of this you need
- 5:49to remember is zombies in UK and now they've just quarantined UK.
- 5:55No one goes in, no one goes out. That's just it and no as.
- 6:01It should be. Are they zombies in this or are
- 6:04they there? Are zombies in this?
- 6:06No but like because they weren't zombies technically, they were
- 6:09just infected grumpy people. They are zombies now.
- 6:13Yeah, well, yeah, it's all the same as they would be infected,
- 6:15yeah. OK I wasn't sure if they pivoted
- 6:17and they just were calling them zombies now.
- 6:21I think they say the they say the Z word.
- 6:23I can't remember if they say the Z word the others at all.
- 6:27In the first one, they definitely don't.
- 6:28Yeah. I think no.
- 6:31I think they just say infected. Yeah.
- 6:33That's what they. Say.
- 6:34Yeah, All right. Cool.
- 6:35But it's it's, but it's about like a a small settlement that's
- 6:39sort of been able to isolate themselves just off the shore.
- 6:43So like when the tides, when the tide goes out, there's like a
- 6:45little walkway when the tide's in, they no one can get in
- 6:48across. So to manage to isolate, that's
- 6:51about the story of like the dad taking his son out for his first
- 6:55time to go out across into the mainland to try.
- 6:58And yeah, it was actually to go out and get his first kill.
- 7:03Like Great Western Hwy., that's where the zombies hang out in
- 7:05the evening. Take your peek mate.
- 7:09But little spoilers. I have to talk about the ending.
- 7:14There's no way I can get around without talking about the
- 7:16ending. Ending ends quite well.
- 7:20Like the movie's sort of got this serious tone throughout the
- 7:22entire thing. That's great.
- 7:26Stuff happens, kids going to go off and find himself type of
- 7:29thing, and all good. All good.
- 7:32And then as he's walking along, some old guys in like bright
- 7:40jumpsuits jump out and start judo chopping and fighting the
- 7:46zombies that are around him and doing flips and backflips.
- 7:50And just really different tone of the entire movie and what it
- 7:57felt like. It was like a post credits scene
- 7:59to throw away something at the end.
- 8:00But no, this is actually the end of the movie, and it's because.
- 8:05Danny Boyle. It's it Is Danny Boyle still?
- 8:08Yeah, already. Announced the sequel.
- 8:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. They've they're making three.
- 8:15And I think I think the sequel is going to be very different
- 8:18tone with how this 1 ended. Interesting.
- 8:22Like, OK, So what is interesting about this is that number 2 was
- 8:25not Danny Boyle. Right.
- 8:28Somebody else did that, but he's back to do #3 huh?
- 8:30Yeah. 4. And five.
- 8:34Right. OK.
- 8:35But yeah, no, it's yeah, just these sort of old people just
- 8:38like in nice matching different color, they're matching
- 8:42jumpsuits, but different colors and just doing.
- 8:45Some squid games. Yeah, it was.
- 8:49It was comical. Yeah, that's odd.
- 8:53That's really odd. And then I went online and
- 8:56everyone sort of saying the same thing like.
- 8:58Yeah, I've seen people's I. Mean the number 4, like fucking
- 9:0228 centuries later or whatever it's going to be, it's going to
- 9:05be. Well, they already have a name
- 9:08for it. It's 28 years later, the Bone
- 9:11Temple. Oh.
- 9:13So it's staying same time period I guess.
- 9:16So it might have done that thing where they filmed them
- 9:18back-to-back. I'm guessing I.
- 9:20Think it's a type. I think it's the Boner Temple.
- 9:22And that's where you fucker zombie.
- 9:24That's the right. That's they call the brothel the
- 9:26Boner Temple. No, but you put it in their
- 9:28fucking head. You know when the temple?
- 9:32Yeah, that's going to be put in there this week.
- 9:34Salute and a zombie in the head. If I was going to fuck a zombie
- 9:37to death, how would I do it? You'd have to fuck it in the
- 9:39brain. You have to, it's the only way.
- 9:41Yeah, I mean, I'd want to finish in it's brain, sure.
- 9:46But though I recommend going to see it and yeah, or just seeing
- 9:50it I. Definitely.
- 9:50Well, I don't know if I'll go and see it, but I.
- 9:52Do yeah, I don't think I can swing that.
- 9:53But when? Because that's by law,
- 9:54definitely. There is a movie that I want to
- 9:57go see at the movies just because it's a spectacle movie.
- 10:01I'm sure we're going to talk about it because we've got some
- 10:03news related. We do that now.
- 10:05We can do it. Later.
- 10:06We do that now because I, I think I know what movie you're
- 10:08talking about and I nearly was bored enough to go and see it
- 10:10today. Yeah.
- 10:11Really. Well, I'm talking about the F1
- 10:15movie. I want to watch this too.
- 10:18I I don't know how. See it in the movies.
- 10:21I, I know I'm going to want to watch Superman and I don't know
- 10:24how many of these trips I'm going to I'm going to get this
- 10:26year. Yeah.
- 10:29The F1, I sort of did saw it. I looked at it went he's just
- 10:32he's far too old to be in Formula One driver.
- 10:35Like, yeah, decades. Too old, that'll be.
- 10:38That's the point. Yeah, but it's to.
- 10:40Entice people like us who are also too old to go see it.
- 10:43Because maybe. If it maybe if it was Timothy
- 10:47Chalamet doing it, I'd be like, you're not interested I.
- 10:49Don't. I'm sure he.
- 10:51Would do it. He's too up.
- 10:53He'd never make the weight class.
- 10:55He's weighs too much. Yeah, you're.
- 10:59Going to be like 55 kilos or something.
- 11:01His muscle mass is way more than that.
- 11:04Just unrealistic. But why would you want to go
- 11:07sue? Well, I've heard that it's much
- 11:10like Maverick. It's a very kind of 80s style
- 11:14movie that has a plot that you could basically ignore so that
- 11:19you can focus your attention on the cars that are exploding
- 11:22around you. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:24And that's that's what I want sometimes.
- 11:26OK. Yeah, sometimes you need that.
- 11:28And and from what I've heard, the racing scenes are like it
- 11:33is. It is the racing movie now if
- 11:37you want to see that shit. Yeah, it's drive to survive the
- 11:40movie. Like, yeah, as far as like in
- 11:43car action, like making it feel like you're in a Formula One
- 11:46car, it is so far the it's the number one now, from from what
- 11:50I've heard, anyway. Yeah, plot, plot, garbage action
- 11:53sequences. If you like fast cars, you
- 11:56should probably see this in a theatre is what I heard.
- 11:58I think if, if, if you do a movie like this, well, this is
- 12:05the best kind of movie. You know what I mean?
- 12:07Like, just not every movie has to have a plot that really
- 12:12stumps you and you know. Yes.
- 12:14Like I know I'm not going to come home and go.
- 12:15Maybe I could be a Formula One? Yeah, but what I love is that
- 12:19we're like, it's Brad Pitt, so it's relatable.
- 12:22It's a guy just like us. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:28You know Guy who's married to Angelina Jolie?
- 12:29Like, like us. Yeah.
- 12:31Aren't they divorced? Yeah, good point, Good point.
- 12:34I think he got drunk and punched one of their children and she
- 12:37threw him out. I think that's what.
- 12:38Happened, yeah. Is that just your theory?
- 12:40I don't No, no, no, no. I don't want to make light of
- 12:42it, but I think that's what happened.
- 12:43I. Think Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:45Oh. How are we supporting someone
- 12:47that punches children? I'm not supporting that.
- 12:49His own child and like I think. I don't think they are his own
- 12:53child. I think he they borrowed them
- 12:54from other people. That's the not that that makes
- 12:57it any better or worse. Like you just don't do it.
- 13:01Hang on. I'm going to get a movie next
- 13:03week though. And Angelina divorced yet?
- 13:07Question Mark, somebody's like, are they divorced yet?
- 13:09Yeah, come on. They are divorced eight years.
- 13:14They signed off on December 30th last year.
- 13:18How do you split up the children because didn't they have like 30
- 13:20of them? Yeah, I'm assuming I have a.
- 13:25If what Dan is saying is true, I'm assuming she's got them.
- 13:29Yeah, yeah. Yeah, because it just felt like
- 13:31every time they went on Hold Me, they'd come back with another
- 13:34one. But.
- 13:34You can't do a custody battle and go, I didn't punch this one.
- 13:38Surely this one? Can live with me.
- 13:40So just like he's got a Third Point, he's dismissed next.
- 13:46It's the same case, Your Honour, it's just another child.
- 13:49There's a lot of kids here to go.
- 13:50Through Oh, I'm going to get a movie again this week and I'm
- 13:54going to go see the new Jurassic World, which I have a feeling is
- 13:58nothing. Awful.
- 13:59It looks like they had an idea for an Alien movie or part of
- 14:04the movie and then just swapped it out for dinosaurs.
- 14:08It literally looks like that. This one looks better than the
- 14:10last couple, but I found them so awful that I just.
- 14:15I'm not giving this any of. This one, I can't like watch the
- 14:18trailer. It's like, you're exactly right,
- 14:20Luke. It's got the the even the
- 14:22trailer, the vibe of it is like an it's literally it's an Alien
- 14:26movie. Yeah.
- 14:27And I just can't. I mean, if I just heard you so
- 14:30describing this. Oh, it's a fucking it's like
- 14:32Alien but with dinosaurs. Oh yeah, it sounds fucking
- 14:34great. Yeah, I mean, maybe.
- 14:38I don't. Yeah.
- 14:38I just really, I just got the feeling that when I saw the
- 14:40trailer, it just like when you just see the jungle and the guns
- 14:44of the like. This, this was designed for
- 14:47something else. Someone, it's a producer should
- 14:49go. We need another dinosaur.
- 14:50We need another Jurassic World. Put that on and away we go.
- 14:53Because I think the premise of this is they're going to an
- 14:55island, and the island is where all the reject dinosaurs went,
- 14:58and they're all mutants and freaks.
- 15:00Why didn't they just kill them? I thought, well maybe I'm wrong,
- 15:05but I think that's the premise the.
- 15:06First Jurassic Park movie made sense because there was a very
- 15:10clear motivation for bringing dinosaurs back from the dead.
- 15:14The second one made sense too because some still fucking
- 15:17dinosaurs there. We need to deal with this.
- 15:20Beyond that, I don't see why we're still making dinosaurs.
- 15:25I still can't get over with Jurassic World how they went,
- 15:28Oh, people are bored with dinosaurs, now we have to go
- 15:30create a different one. Yeah, 'cause people are bored
- 15:33with the ones we're showing that.
- 15:34We currently do have with real animals.
- 15:38Like I have a chance to ride ride a triceratops.
- 15:42I don't need another weed 1 I don't know anything about.
- 15:45Just give me that. I've ridden a.
- 15:46Triceratops thumbnail. What else do you know that's not
- 15:48going to be the? Thumbnail Luke on a Triceratops.
- 15:50Yeah, yeah, I know the exact. Don't ask chat DPT to deal with
- 15:53the purple triceratops. It knows what you're up to.
- 15:56I got in trouble for that. But there's been news this week,
- 16:05I think started by speculation because the F1 premiere, Tom
- 16:09Cruise showed up, yes. And and I was reminded that they
- 16:13had worked together. He's a Formula One fan.
- 16:15I've. Seen him, of course.
- 16:16Yeah, he's in the Mercedes garage a lot and he's good
- 16:19friends with Lewis Hamilton. Makes sense.
- 16:21But he was, he was Hamilton. He was very there.
- 16:23By the way, have you? Have you?
- 16:25Oh, sure he does. Yeah, he loves it.
- 16:26What? What did he say?
- 16:28I I. Just he he just said it was the
- 16:30the most accurate movie ever made about.
- 16:32Yeah, right. Being a.
- 16:33Formula One driver. I mean, he did produce it so.
- 16:36Yeah, and which? One which is the other one, I
- 16:38suppose, yeah. But he so Tom Cruise is there
- 16:43and somebody, I guess they started asking him, oh, you did
- 16:47a racing movie a long time ago. And he's like, yeah, it did.
- 16:50And then? I fucking love Days of Thunder
- 16:54and that holds up. So then people started asking I,
- 16:57I guess this kind of seems to have happened organically, you
- 17:01know, oh, what about a crossover between Days of Thunder and F1?
- 17:05And then they were like, yeah, actually maybe because So what?
- 17:10And then they they apparently, allegedly they have been
- 17:12discussing the fact that Brad Pitt's character and Tom
- 17:16Cruise's character from Days of Thunder would probably be
- 17:18friends of could be some persuasion.
- 17:20In in you could write them into the same movie.
- 17:23And so they are, I mean. Days of Thunder is about NASCAR.
- 17:27Of course, but they're still. You could have the.
- 17:30Yeah, I mean, you could have that.
- 17:32Brad Pitt is no longer allowed in the.
- 17:34Formula One, Formula One. So he's got a slumber back in
- 17:37we've. Just noticed how old you are
- 17:39and. Yeah, yeah, because there's no
- 17:42way it could go the other way round.
- 17:44Where? Tom Cruise, NASCAR to Formula
- 17:46One. No, not way too often.
- 17:49The Movie. Under the Formula One.
- 17:52Tom Cruise will demand their whole production so that he can
- 17:54learn to drive an F1 car. Yes, actually, he already knows.
- 17:57He definitely does. He's I've seen him do it.
- 17:59Yeah. Yeah, good point.
- 18:02Days of Thunder is a terrific movie and.
- 18:05We watch that. Dare you to watch it?
- 18:07It's. Tony Scott, right, You want?
- 18:08To watch NASCAR, it is Yes, it is Tony Scott and Robert Duvall
- 18:14plays his like mentor who like builds his builds his car, but
- 18:19yeah, it's. A great movie.
- 18:20There's one part in the movie I don't get is how the rivalry
- 18:23becomes a friendship because they're just rivals and then all
- 18:28of a sudden we're now friends after you get out of the
- 18:30hospital. Well.
- 18:33I mean, yeah, OK. But the same thing happened with
- 18:36Niki Lauder and. I was going to say Russia is a
- 18:39good movie. Russia is a good movie.
- 18:44You don't have to keep movies apart, just enjoy them.
- 18:47Ron Howard Ron Howard did rush right.
- 18:50Yes, have you heard about Ron Howard's new movie?
- 18:53Let me just. I feel like I have but I don't
- 18:55remember. I know I saw his name attached
- 18:58to something. Hold on, let me, let me, let me
- 19:01just let me just this is 11 specific thing about it that
- 19:05that I thought was no crisis. So many fucking he's he's next
- 19:12movie and I'm I'm going to speculate because I've Oh no,
- 19:15where did I see it? I think I saw it on Keith
- 19:18Tyrant. Jim Henson Eden, 13, lies I'm
- 19:24not going to. Know the name of it?
- 19:25I'm just going to know the cast because basically he's doing a
- 19:28movie that's got Sidney Sweeney, Margaret, Wally and just fucking
- 19:32every hot chick that's popular right now.
- 19:35He's just putting them in a movie together.
- 19:38Anna Damas. Sydney Sweeney.
- 19:41Vanessa Kirby. Yeah, Vanessa Kirby.
- 19:43Yeah. Yeah.
- 19:44All right. Yeah.
- 19:46He's like, you know what I'm going to do now?
- 19:50Yeah. I've got a list here.
- 19:53All these cast for your movie. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:58His wife found out on his desk and now he's like fuck, we've
- 20:02got to make a movie with these people in it to explain this.
- 20:07Have you seen that Bryce Dallas Howard came out and said they
- 20:10had to airbrush her butt out of a poster for whatever movie she
- 20:13was in most recently? And I'm like, that is a crime
- 20:15against humanity. Why would they have to do that?
- 20:19Well. It just didn't fit on the poster
- 20:21I guess. Oh, Bryce Dallas Howard.
- 20:28I watched a Tom Cruise movie this week.
- 20:31Oh yeah. Oh yes.
- 20:33Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning, because I had seen
- 20:36that and I didn't really like it.
- 20:44Yeah, that was the previous one. Yeah, no, I agree.
- 20:47I mean, I thought it was fine but.
- 20:49It was absolutely fine, but the other ones are fucking great.
- 20:54I feel like out of all of them, even more so than the the most
- 20:58recent one is is less of this but that one Dead reckoning Part
- 21:021 is the most sticky taped plot to just Tom Cruise driving a
- 21:09bike off a mountain because it doesn't even makes makes no
- 21:12sense that even does that in the.
- 21:13Movie it is 100% Tom Cruise's fault and I I I love Tom Cruise,
- 21:18but any movie he's allowed to make too many decisions behind
- 21:21the scenes turns into this. It's like the second Jack
- 21:25Reacher movie that he did like the first one was terrific.
- 21:29The second one, which I think is also directed by this guy who's
- 21:34just Tom Cruise's mouthpiece. Now you know, he just gets him
- 21:38to direct the the Mission Impossibles and just tells him
- 21:40what he wants to be. In there.
- 21:42Macquarie, Christopher. Macquarie.
- 21:44Yeah, well. Because of Tom Cruise, we're not
- 21:46getting all those monster movies because of what he did with The
- 21:49Mummy, no. That's.
- 21:51I didn't think that was all that bad.
- 21:54No, it wasn't. Funnier than I remembered or
- 21:57thought it was going to be. But but yeah, I didn't like this
- 22:00and I was. I was actively not liking it
- 22:02while I was watching it. It was cheesy and camp in ways
- 22:06that the others weren't. Sure.
- 22:09It's more similar, I suppose to the second one, which impossible
- 22:132, than it is to any of the other better ones.
- 22:17Yeah. It still looks good and there's
- 22:19great stunts and the performances are all fine, but.
- 22:23But I feel like, like I just really, you look at Fallout,
- 22:26which I thought was really, really good, and then the the
- 22:29stunts and stuff fit like it's part of like the, IT makes sense
- 22:33that they're doing these things like as a helicopter chase
- 22:35because it makes sense. Or even something like Ghost
- 22:38Protocol, which is a fucking ridiculous movie with a
- 22:43ridiculous plot so over the top, but they just play it for truth
- 22:48and it works. You know, this one was like, OK,
- 22:51come on, whatever. But like, you're not even really
- 22:54explaining what this is that I why I should care about any of
- 22:57it. It's like I actually stopped the
- 23:00movie about 30 minutes in and went and watched a recap of the
- 23:03last one because I'm like, they must have explained.
- 23:06No, the AI I think. This what this is and all that.
- 23:08This just. Comes out of nowhere.
- 23:10Yeah, but you know it, like, in a really unsatisfying way.
- 23:13Yeah, like the poor rabbit sport.
- 23:15OK, you didn't tell me what that is.
- 23:17But you also don't act like I'm supposed to know.
- 23:19You act like it's a mystery, This one.
- 23:21You're acting like I should already know all this back
- 23:23story. Yeah, you'll watch the next one
- 23:27at some point, I assume. I will, you can support it, I
- 23:30don't give a shit, I'm not enjoying this.
- 23:33Sorry, it's an idiot matter. I need the evicted Bryce Howard.
- 23:36Yeah, go on. So I was looking up to see the
- 23:38quote and everything, but then I've got Google saying.
- 23:41I've got Google asking. Like people also ask, is Bryce
- 23:45Howard a Nippo baby? How did Bryce Howard get so big?
- 23:50And then it goes. On he's in famous What size is
- 23:51in bum? I don't know if you click on it
- 23:53and then what size of Bryce Dallas's breasts right is Price
- 23:57tells Howard and Natural Ginger. Yes.
- 24:02Have you? Yeah.
- 24:03You seen a day both babies. Beautiful.
- 24:07Yeah, ginger breasts. But yeah, I just my God, people,
- 24:13people flavours so much that Google is going.
- 24:17You must be wanting to know this.
- 24:18Just just here it is before you can ask Luke.
- 24:20Did you find the poster that her bum was head brushed out of?
- 24:23I haven't quite found it, but I can sort of seen the exact, I
- 24:28think I'm saying comparisons and yes, yeah, like it's there's a
- 24:33really good comparison one where she's in promoting blue dress
- 24:37just as a thing. And then there's a white dress
- 24:39where you can see and there's definitely some Photoshop
- 24:41happening and they have reduced it.
- 24:45It's the opposite of Kardashians.
- 24:48Kate Beckinsale on the On the Underworld, where they
- 24:52superimposed breasts in. I didn't know this.
- 24:58OK, so this articles about Bryce Dallas Howard's butt, it was in
- 25:03the poster for Jurassic World. She was in the first one.
- 25:06And and I like, I like Bryce Dallas Howard.
- 25:08I think she's very pretty. And you know, I'm a fan, but I
- 25:14have noticed. Do we all just agree on
- 25:16somebody? Maybe.
- 25:18Jesus Christ. Also, you get to be Ron Howard's
- 25:21son-in-law. Yeah.
- 25:25But she was in that Black Mirror episode.
- 25:31Oh yeah, Yep. And she was big in that.
- 25:34Yeah. And I, and I was, I was
- 25:36surprised by that. And I had wondered whether, you
- 25:40know, what, what happened there. Like, because, yeah.
- 25:43Because she in, in Jurassic World, for example, she's very
- 25:46not big. She's looks like a, a, a
- 25:50beautiful film actress woman who has a physique like a film
- 25:54actress woman. You know, You know what I'm
- 25:56trying to say. Yeah.
- 25:56Matt's tripping over tripping over political correctness.
- 26:00Exactly. She looks like a movie star.
- 26:02Yes, and in the Black Mirror episode she does not.
- 26:04She and it looks like this article intentionally gained 30
- 26:08lbs for it because the character was the storyline included body
- 26:14shaming. So she put on 30 lbs for it and
- 26:16was like oh that explains. It.
- 26:18Yeah, actually. Because I was surprised by it
- 26:20when I watched. It gained about 30 lbs as well.
- 26:24Just in case, I was asked to do a roll about a a a gentleman
- 26:28with a bit with a beer belly. Yeah, and that just explains
- 26:31something that I've always wondered about, which is why is
- 26:33she why? Why was she so big?
- 26:35In that Oh that's interesting, I just assumed she.
- 26:37Did it on purpose if. She doesn't go to the gym every
- 26:39day. Correct.
- 26:40Yeah, yeah, She just isn't fussed about it most of the
- 26:44time. I mean, I yeah, that's right.
- 26:45Yeah. I mean, I assume most famous and
- 26:47rich people wouldn't look that good if they didn't have the
- 26:50money and motivation to get in there.
- 26:53But yeah, she she just did exactly the same thing like that
- 26:56other actors do like. Yep.
- 27:00What's his name? X-Men.
- 27:02Wolverine. He's jacking on Jacking on.
- 27:06Christian Bale, man. Christian getting it off.
- 27:08Have you seen Christian Bale for the for the John Madden movie?
- 27:12Fucking hell, it's fucking hilarious.
- 27:14It's so funny. And I only know John Madden from
- 27:18the games. Like I do not know him in real
- 27:20life, I just know him from yeah. And that's all we've ever known
- 27:24him for because we didn't grow up watching American football
- 27:27team. We only know that that sport
- 27:30really from the John Madden games.
- 27:32Yeah, yeah. I mean even people like Tony
- 27:37Hawk I mostly know from the games.
- 27:39I'm like I'm aware he's a pro skateboarder but I've not
- 27:41watched him skateboard. I've fucking played his game
- 27:44though. I still love you see him posting
- 27:46every now and again about the amount of people who come up go,
- 27:48oh, you look like that guy. And he's, yeah, he just keeps
- 27:51getting people thinking that he's him.
- 27:55Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what, What's the only
- 28:00the only better skateboarding game than the Tony Hawks?
- 28:02Because I, I think as, as skateboarding games, those,
- 28:04those are the pinnacle, but the better one was the Metal Gear
- 28:10Solid where you could, where you could just skate around on that
- 28:14battleship as Solid Snake if you wanted to.
- 28:18There was just like an option where you could just do that
- 28:21instead of playing. Through the game.
- 28:22Could not get into that game. Fantastic.
- 28:25Oh really? I love that game.
- 28:28Just couldn't. I mean, I haven't played for
- 28:29years. They do They still make them?
- 28:31Maybe they. Yeah, I.
- 28:32Don't know. Well, they're doing a lot of
- 28:33remakes recently. I was gonna say Death Training 2
- 28:36just came out, so he's free now. He's yeah, yeah, did.
- 28:39It just come out or is it coming out?
- 28:41It's it's, I think that's coming out right.
- 28:43Yeah, Yeah, I'm pretty. Impressed people are pretty
- 28:46impressed. I want to say just before we
- 28:49move on from Mission Impossible, did you note as well there?
- 28:51Because there's my main take. My main memory of that
- 28:54particular film is that, yes, the big stunt in it was the one
- 28:57where he rides the bike off the Cliff.
- 28:59And I felt like there's two things about that.
- 29:00One, I felt like that wasn't justified as in in the plot.
- 29:04It was. It was ridiculous.
- 29:06Absolutely. The, the justification for him
- 29:08having to do that. And then second of all, I know
- 29:12that he did that in real life. He rode the bike of the Cliff
- 29:15and all that and they filmed it. That's very interesting.
- 29:18I like it when movies do that. But it was immediately,
- 29:21immediately followed by he jumps off the Cliff on a bike, pulled
- 29:25the parachute and then does something that is completely
- 29:29implausible and obviously not really filmed, which is, you
- 29:34know what I mean, right? It's there's the, what's her
- 29:37name, Agent Carter. I think somebody on the train is
- 29:39being held hostage inside the train by the a villain, and
- 29:44after he does the big bike jump and comes down the parachute, he
- 29:47smashes through the side of the train and kicks the bad guy.
- 29:51And it's completely implausible. And I was like, why did you just
- 29:55not CGI the whole thing then? Because you've just ruined this
- 30:00amazing stunt by bookending it with nonsense.
- 30:03Like I don't understand, maybe it's just me.
- 30:09No, I don't understand either. Like if you're going to do a big
- 30:13practical stunt like that, keep it practice.
- 30:15Just make the the big practical stunt complete in in a way.
- 30:19And like you see GI elsewhere in the film.
- 30:20I don't care. It's just it feels like weird to
- 30:23to end it with something so obviously unrealistic.
- 30:27Yeah. Well, let's just do what George
- 30:29Miller does and like, do a real stuff and then just put some
- 30:32extra CGI fucking explosions and stuff so it just looks extra
- 30:35cool, but you know, you really filmed something.
- 30:38Yes. Yeah.
- 30:40I just felt like, yeah, like the jump and everything was cool,
- 30:43but then you're kicking through the train.
- 30:45I was like, oh, you ruined it. Like, why'd you put that in
- 30:47there? What would happen is he'd hit
- 30:50the train and then just get scraped along the side as the
- 30:53train kept going. What would happen is he wouldn't
- 30:55be able to see that that was even happening because they were
- 30:58in a fucking. Train from where he started
- 31:01riding the bike. From.
- 31:03Like aimed from. Pretty far away it goes.
- 31:08It's just utterly ridiculous, like.
- 31:14And you might watch him one day. I still like them.
- 31:18Watch Fallout. I did like I got hooked into the
- 31:21nostalgia of what, you know, they do.
- 31:24They do this on purpose in the last one, reminding you you've
- 31:27been watching these for fucking 20 years or whatever, and now
- 31:31you're in the mood, you're in the theatre again and you're
- 31:33watching the last one. The last one.
- 31:35Yeah, they, they even like in the movie, it does that.
- 31:39It's like, remember this? Well, he's there 60.
- 31:45Yeah, true. There's bits I liked.
- 31:49There's definitely bits I liked. I liked that scene where he
- 31:54weaseled his way into that fucking government board meeting
- 31:59with that Oh yeah, he bastard who always fucks him over.
- 32:03And then and then when he's like, how are you going to get
- 32:06out of here? And he just got a mask of him
- 32:09and looks like oh. Yeah, yeah, that comes up again
- 32:14in the next one. They talk about it because of
- 32:17the president's like he's asking them to give him like a battle,
- 32:20a battleship, an aircraft carrier that he can use.
- 32:23And then the security, like, I think it's.
- 32:25So what's his name? Nick Offerman plays like this
- 32:28military guy and he's looking through this list and he's
- 32:29going, you did this. You infiltrated a government
- 32:34meet and you left disguised as him.
- 32:36And then and then they're all like, yeah, he did do that.
- 32:39Yeah. That's pretty.
- 32:48Speaking of action movies, some big news this week.
- 32:52Some very big news I. Freaked Jenna out because you
- 32:56sent us a message with this piece of information and it was
- 33:00evening and we were watching something like, I don't know, an
- 33:03episode of Welcome to Wrexham or something.
- 33:05Something, not particularly something low key because we
- 33:08were very tired and, and I, I was like, Oh my God, Oh my God.
- 33:13And she was like, what, what I like paused it and I was like,
- 33:15hang on, I need to make sure this is true before I tell you
- 33:17because I was very excited by this news.
- 33:21And and then I told her it wasn't.
- 33:23She was like, oh, the shirt back on.
- 33:27So you know, what's the news? Well, yes, the news is the the
- 33:32next James Bond director has been chosen.
- 33:34But before we even say who it is.
- 33:35And I know people probably know because this is be a week.
- 33:38Yes, in the past by the time you hear this but I did a similar
- 33:42thing but not quite the same because my my wife texted me and
- 33:46said that and I went holy shit and immediately texted you guys
- 33:49and they went wait. Was I supposed to?
- 33:51Know this article about this? Or is this because this is
- 33:54happening at her work? Yeah, it's public knowledge.
- 33:59Googled. To see what.
- 34:00Was on the on the news, which it was.
- 34:03OK, so who is it it? It's didn't he feel a nerve?
- 34:08He might have seen some of his movies.
- 34:11It actually disappoints me. I'm sorry buddy, but.
- 34:15Because this feels like they're not going to go.
- 34:17They build fun bond. Do you know why they can't
- 34:20though? You know why they can't?
- 34:22They can very easily. He ruined it, he made fun of it,
- 34:26and now you can't go back. Can't parody your parody?
- 34:29I reckon you can let me do it. I'll make it work.
- 34:33I I would have been interested in seeing Edgar Wright's
- 34:37version. I I will admit that I would have
- 34:38been interested in what he would do with it.
- 34:41Yeah, I would have been. I would have liked.
- 34:44They've talked for years and years about Christopher Nolan,
- 34:47too, and that would be interesting.
- 34:48But he wasn't apparently even trying to do it so.
- 34:52Apparently, he said if I was to do it, I'd have to have final
- 34:57cut. I'd have.
- 34:57To Oh sure, they like. Final say over the script and
- 35:00the edit and everything. And you wouldn't know what the
- 35:02ending was about. You'd have to.
- 35:04Leave the theatre, go on. What was that?
- 35:06Because times have changed. Yeah, right.
- 35:08No, no, they specifically says in this article.
- 35:10Denis Villeneuve is director for hire on this like.
- 35:13Oh, OK. Every other bond you have to do
- 35:16what they say. He may as he's the first
- 35:19director of a new. He may have some say in the
- 35:22cast, but I was reminded when I was chatting with Hui the other
- 35:26night that like no directors have ever had say in the in the
- 35:29cast of Bonds. That's always been a production.
- 35:32Decision yeah, right. Well, I mean, this is very
- 35:36exciting because for me, Denis Ville, you've so far appears to
- 35:42make movies for me. You like and like, there's not a
- 35:46single movie of his that I haven't watched that I felt in
- 35:48some way he and I on some kind of same wavelength with what's
- 35:53good. You know what?
- 35:54I mean, and I just want to make sure that there's none that I'm
- 35:56forgetting. Because I was like, you got even
- 35:59the early stuff like Prisoners and Sicario, right?
- 36:02They're not sci-fi or anything like that.
- 36:05Those movies are fucking incredible, both of those
- 36:07movies. Is fucking great.
- 36:10Sicario is fucking great. I haven't seen his French
- 36:13language movies. I have not either, but then
- 36:18Blade Runner 2049, Dune, the Arrival, just everything he's
- 36:25done is either I would say oh wow, what an amazing movie.
- 36:29Or at least like. Really good.
- 36:32There's nothing he's done that's bad.
- 36:33Enemy is great, have you seen that?
- 36:36I've not seen that. Put that on your list.
- 36:39You have to now 6.9 out of 10. I disagree with that.
- 36:42I disagree with that rating. Jake Gyllenhaal sees an exact
- 36:47double of himself. Oh, I'm already in.
- 36:51Yeah, that's it. That's all I'm going to tell
- 36:53you. That's all you need to know.
- 36:56Yeah. Do you get paint?
- 36:57No, I just. I just think the new villain
- 36:58news is great. Yeah.
- 37:00Yes, he is good. Do you get what?
- 37:02Paint twice if you're in a movie playing 2 characters.
- 37:06Probably. Do you?
- 37:06Probably, yeah. Yeah.
- 37:09Although. That's why Eddie Murphy's always
- 37:11playing everybody. Yeah, that's right.
- 37:14He's the Ryan Reynolds movie where it's just Ryan Reynolds in
- 37:16a box for two hours. He's buried underground in a
- 37:21box. I.
- 37:22Don't know. No.
- 37:25How does Luke not know? I know that's.
- 37:27Ryan Reynolds News Let me just quickly get this.
- 37:32I saw something about Ryan Reynolds.
- 37:35I'll wait until we're doing the news, though.
- 37:38Ryan sorry, just to finish that story, Ryan Reynolds in a box.
- 37:42Apparently he did. He took a pay cut for that
- 37:44because he's the only person on screen because of the billing
- 37:50like top billing just on screen like it's just the exposure is
- 37:54so. Great only billing.
- 37:56Yes, that they didn't have to pay him quite as much which.
- 37:58I think is interesting. I was in the the before movie
- 38:05credits of a film monster didn't get paid anything.
- 38:08Was that gas essence? No, it's a film you'd be
- 38:11familiar with, Dave. Yeah.
- 38:12Yeah, I figured I would be. It's called the tail job.
- 38:17Yeah, I was. I was.
- 38:18I also didn't get paid anything. Yeah, I lost quite a bit of
- 38:22money on that, actually. I know we broke even in the end,
- 38:24but. I got exposure.
- 38:28That's what I got. Yeah.
- 38:29Everyone. Trying to expose to Byron
- 38:31Reynolds Sony executives. Is it?
- 38:33It's called buried or something like that?
- 38:36Hold on hold. On can I just say that I have
- 38:38heard of this movie? Before we get off Genevil in
- 38:40year, I agree Matt like like he's made 10 movies in in French
- 38:46Canadia. But if we don't count those
- 38:48because I haven't seen them, his first English language movie.
- 38:51So his first Hollywood movie was prisoners, which is fucking
- 38:54great Enemy Sicario arrival fucking great.
- 38:58Fucking goes up a level even for Blade Runner 2049 and June.
- 39:02He's got June Part 2. Here are his upcoming projects.
- 39:07Fucking Dune Messiah on the horizon, so yes please.
- 39:10Which is still no idea how he gets to make that.
- 39:13Yeah, well, he's also doing rendezvous with Rama.
- 39:16So fucking. Oh yeah.
- 39:18I know for that to see Clark book.
- 39:20Although that people should not get their hopes up about this
- 39:23movie, that book is not the fastest book.
- 39:27No, it's not. And actually not a lot happens
- 39:30in it and you don't, it's not satisfying if you want to know
- 39:33what the fuck is going on. And apparently the I've, I've,
- 39:35I've read the first one a bunch of times.
- 39:37Apparently the sequels try to go into what's going on and it's
- 39:40not very good. Yeah, right.
- 39:42Yeah. Because they're not written by
- 39:43Arthur C Clarke, and it was somebody.
- 39:46Because you never find out what Rama is, why it's there kind of
- 39:51thing. And the mystery is kind of why
- 39:52it's so compelling. You do meet other creatures who?
- 39:55Because it's sort of. Yeah, because it's always had
- 39:59three of everything. So yeah, they plan to go onto
- 40:02the ship, and then they meet other aliens and yeah, it's a
- 40:04whole big thing. But the first book is on its
- 40:06own. It's just brilliant.
- 40:07But yeah, don't expect action. No, no, there's none really.
- 40:12Rope climbing bit of rope. Climbing.
- 40:14There's the anti grave bike thing.
- 40:17Oh, that's right, the guy flies over.
- 40:20To the yeah, Yep. OK.
- 40:26Anyway, yeah, that'll be good. Does he have too much on his
- 40:29plate at the moment though? That's actually one of the
- 40:32articles I read about this, said.
- 40:34Even people you know at the studio were surprised that a
- 40:37they could get him because he's so busy, be that he'd agree to
- 40:41do it because he will be at least somewhat restricted and
- 40:45and see, he's certainly the most expensive option.
- 40:48Right. Yes, yeah.
- 40:49That they had. I imagine he's just going, well,
- 40:54it's just on my fucking bucket list.
- 40:56Like yeah, I want to be able to tell.
- 40:57My Adam to the kid. That I've made a James Bond.
- 41:00Like, yeah, I've made a Blade Runner.
- 41:02Now I'll just do a James Bond as well.
- 41:04But I yeah, I mean, he's definitely going to do it
- 41:06serious. He doesn't make funny movies.
- 41:08He doesn't make silly movies. No, not so far.
- 41:11I'm interested to see how we'll do it and how it will be
- 41:14different you're. Going to be waiting a while.
- 41:17Yeah, right. You say that, but there were
- 41:19some laughs in June. That's true.
- 41:21Especially the 2nd June. Yeah, the second.
- 41:24June Guy was funny. Still, Guy was fucking
- 41:26hilarious. So he could do it.
- 41:29And he wasn't funny in the books.
- 41:31That was not something they did for the movie.
- 41:33Yeah, yeah. So, you know, maybe it'll.
- 41:37Be the first one was funny too, where he's like, oh, you put on
- 41:39a bit of muscle. He's like, oh, have I?
- 41:40He's like, no, yeah. Yeah, still, guy was good.
- 41:47Yeah, he said. OK.
- 41:53I could watch that again. The the only problem I had with
- 41:56it was that I believed that Timothy Charlemagne could have
- 42:00been the, you know, the emperor of the universe up until that
- 42:03scene where fucking side rather walks in and he's just the most
- 42:09fucking hardcore charismatic tough guy I've ever seen.
- 42:12And I'm like. He, that's the Emperor.
- 42:14Of these Charlemagne. Now look, I'm excited about new
- 42:24Bond. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:26But you're right. So that.
- 42:27Years away. Yeah, I'm excited that there'll
- 42:29be a new one. I'm excited that he's directing
- 42:30it. Yeah, I'll make sure to show you
- 42:32how it changes though, because it's yeah, we've changed like
- 42:35this new Bond, new director. It's going to have to be.
- 42:38I have to get it can't be Daniel Craig Part 2 or.
- 42:41No, and it has to be. Rumours are that they're going
- 42:44to make Bond younger, yeah, but they might just be saying that
- 42:50because the James Bond video game is an origin story, so
- 42:54maybe they just got that as a recency bias.
- 42:57Maybe they'll see how that does too.
- 42:59Matthew good. You know the actor.
- 43:00Matthew good. He's he's, he's excellent.
- 43:03He's he's very Matthew good. Have we had a young bond before?
- 43:11No. Really.
- 43:12No, they've always been. Nope.
- 43:15Do I know this guy? He's in Stoker, he's in Stoker
- 43:20and if you. Oh, no, I should watch that.
- 43:22Yeah, I should watch that. Graham Stoker, presumably.
- 43:24Yeah, He noticed a guy poking Avaya.
- 43:28Yeah, but Matthew Good said that he auditioned for it.
- 43:31I assume you're right. Craig Craig, David Daniel Craig
- 43:37era. But he said he went into the to
- 43:41the audition having just read all the books, and he was like,
- 43:44right. The way I'm going to play him is
- 43:46that this guy fucking hates himself.
- 43:49He's a fucking drug addict. Everyone hates him.
- 43:52He hates himself. And no one quite knows why
- 43:55they're doing this job. And they're like probably aren't
- 43:58going to do it like that actually.
- 44:02I love that the The Cavil audition tapes.
- 44:06Yes. Fairly recently and it's like,
- 44:08oh man, it would be quite different if it was him.
- 44:10Yeah. Quite different would be very
- 44:12different and now it's a shame he's too old now.
- 44:15That's such a bummer for him because I.
- 44:17Like, well, he's not, because actually he's probably the right
- 44:20age for book accurate James Shawn.
- 44:24But he was. But they told him he was too
- 44:25young. He's worth it, yeah.
- 44:27They told him he was too. Young at the at the Casino
- 44:29Royale and then now he's being told, oh, you're too old for
- 44:31what we want to do now it's like the.
- 44:33Real problem is they're not going to put all this money to
- 44:35make bond for TV. Yeah, look, you say that it's
- 44:40possible to fall out the fucking best one.
- 44:42And he's, he's great in it. Highlander is going to be the
- 44:46decider. I think it could do anything.
- 44:49Now, we then added Russell Crowe.
- 44:52I support Henry Cavill's efforts to do anything.
- 44:55Russell Crowe I think is probably the worst choice,
- 44:59especially Russell Crowe today, so.
- 45:01Funny because I keep being reminded that Russell Crowe was
- 45:05ingladiator. It's like it's two different
- 45:06people. Yes.
- 45:07Like the Russell Crowe, ingladiator does not exist
- 45:10anymore. It's the Oscar winning actor.
- 45:13It's just so because I love Russell Crowe is it's cool, but
- 45:18like it's just not the same person.
- 45:20No, no. It's not the same person as mate
- 45:24you are this close to not getting invited to.
- 45:26The origin I read the interview with him the other day.
- 45:31Actually, I don't know the context of it was, but he's
- 45:33telling the story about Gladiator.
- 45:34But the bit where he he sees his wife, he gets back to the to the
- 45:38farm and his wife is dead or whatever.
- 45:39And he said said apparently originally a.
- 45:42Burned bodies. Fucking burned.
- 45:43Bodies hanging. Yeah.
- 45:44Yeah. And apparently, originally, he,
- 45:47Ridley Scott, was like, OK, you just walk over and you fall to
- 45:50your knees and you just stay there.
- 45:51And then he was like, no, I wouldn't do that.
- 45:52I would go up and I would. If I don't get to her, then I
- 45:56failed. He made come with this whole
- 45:57thing. And really Scott was like, all
- 45:59right, fine, do what you're going to do.
- 46:01And then they did one take where he goes over and he said he got
- 46:03really into it and he was like crying and was like fucking
- 46:06snore all over her feet and everything like that.
- 46:08And then they go cut and really Scott goes, OK, it works, but
- 46:11let's not. He's like, fuck all right, He's.
- 46:17An actor. Where's that Russell Crowe?
- 46:21Yes, yeah. Have you guys seen Romper
- 46:24Stomper where he's in the? Yeah, not in a long time, but
- 46:27yes, a long. Time an intense in there.
- 46:30Does he herb stomp someone? No, that's American history X
- 46:34with. He does bachelor.
- 46:37He would not know. Yeah, he does Bachelor.
- 46:38People, yeah, that's a very good.
- 46:41Movie romper stomp was very Australian though I think, I
- 46:43don't know if. It made it, Yeah.
- 46:44It's the Australian. Overseas of it, yeah, yeah.
- 46:47Yeah, yeah, he's, he's he's racist against mostly Chinese,
- 46:52but also Italians. Yeah, and he loves The Footy
- 46:58Show. I was thinking about that the
- 47:02other day. My coat.
- 47:03My God. Oh Luke, the episode of
- 47:10detectorists worrying because the whole thing Matt is they
- 47:14want to find gold. Not just them anyone with a
- 47:17metal detector. The the goal is you want.
- 47:19To the goal is to find gold, they.
- 47:20Talk about it all the time when I find gold and most of them
- 47:23never even do, but one of them finds a coin, but it's a Nazi
- 47:28coin. And so he's like, I don't know
- 47:32if I can do the the gold dance for this.
- 47:35And he's like, tell me what was on the coin.
- 47:37He's like an eagle. He's like, was the eagle
- 47:41carrying something? Yes.
- 47:47I feel like that would probably worth more in a in a in a weird
- 47:52way, right? Wouldn't in a collective kind of
- 47:53way. Nazi gold, Yeah, but I know
- 47:56you're not I. Dance for it.
- 47:58Yeah. And I don't, I feel I'd have to
- 48:00just hand that to somebody. I don't think I could make money
- 48:04off of it. Yeah, I actually think.
- 48:08Someone's owed that some that but.
- 48:10I don't know whether it's because of Indiana Jones or
- 48:12whatever, but I have a feeling like you just like a, this is a
- 48:15vibe you get from like from Nazi gold.
- 48:18No, like if I felt Nazi gold, I'd be like, it's, it's like
- 48:21it's no, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, you know.
- 48:25They're just like, they're just like the villains of everything
- 48:29kind of thing. Yeah, It's like.
- 48:30To do with gold, Yeah, Yeah. Oh, where's this fucking quote
- 48:36that I saved for you at today? Luke's white.
- 48:41Yeah, it should. Be white.
- 48:44That's exactly what you think. Yeah, someone on Twitter wrote
- 48:48Hansel and Gretel ends with two Germans pushing someone into an
- 48:51oven. Just saying.
- 48:53Somebody else has written. Yeah, but she deserved it.
- 48:57She was a big nose curly haired liar who was holding all the
- 49:00treats. Oh God, Oh dear.
- 49:09I watched something else on both your group recommendations this
- 49:12week. I watched last one laughing.
- 49:15Which the UK? I'm not watching the Australian
- 49:17one. Fuck that.
- 49:19So funny, so funny. Yeah and I watched it over 2
- 49:25days. I watched like 3-1 day three the
- 49:28next day. What is it, though, that makes
- 49:32you think you're not allowed to laugh either?
- 49:35Like funny stuff's happening and like, and at one point I was
- 49:40like, I want to put that on, but it's so stressful not being able
- 49:43to laugh. And I'm like no.
- 49:44You can't laugh. They can't.
- 49:47That's the whole idea of the show.
- 49:49So good. It's just magic.
- 49:56I just spelled right. I've never seen the little he.
- 49:59Knows that the little fly. Oh, you've never seen Bob Moore.
- 50:01Bob Moore is so funny. It's like a real life.
- 50:05I was about to say real life for Ricky Gervais.
- 50:07That's a real person, like a real life David Brent when David
- 50:10Brent did that. Oh the the.
- 50:15Yeah, the motivational talk. Sexual harassment thing.
- 50:20There's been a rape up there. That's what it reminded me of is
- 50:24David Brent. Look, I was just.
- 50:26He was the only one to get Ayati to laugh.
- 50:29Both times it was Bob Mortimer. But that that was something I.
- 50:33Heard what you meant, Arms dealer.
- 50:34Now that was my mum. She sold salt.
- 50:37Salt. Richard just tried to walk out
- 50:39the door every time. I just found that stupid thing
- 50:42funny. Yeah.
- 50:44I love how he just, he would find if he he could tell, but he
- 50:48was Ayati. He's talking to you and then
- 50:50you'd tell if something was going to get you.
- 50:52He'd just fucking follow them around the room and then keep
- 50:55asking him about. But also the fact that he went
- 50:57in there almost in character as someone who didn't laugh as
- 51:02well, like. Well, that's, I mean, that's his
- 51:04whole persona, yeah. Yeah, that's he had that
- 51:06advantage. That younger female comic kind
- 51:10of had the same, that dry kind of.
- 51:12But then, yeah, she couldn't. She didn't last.
- 51:17Yeah. It's such a good show.
- 51:19Almost surprising to me that it's not been done before now,
- 51:22because it is a really, really good premise.
- 51:24Like it's just. Yeah.
- 51:25Yeah, well, it's also be an easy show to sort of do.
- 51:29It's yeah, one day. One day, yeah.
- 51:32One day of filming, you get a whole season of a show, yeah.
- 51:34Yep. Mind you, at one point where
- 51:36they're like the fourth person was out, Jimmy Carr was like,
- 51:39we're not going to get to 6 episodes if you guys keep
- 51:42laughing this week. Yeah, what's like with the Bake
- 51:50Off host? She's in the fridge and I know
- 51:54they're all just like no, fuck no.
- 51:56Close that fridge. Yeah, because her life is like
- 51:59is so insane. Known as the guy who closed the
- 52:02fridge door on whatever her name, I can't.
- 52:04Remember her name? She.
- 52:06But her laugh is so infectious. Yeah, she's like a big fucking
- 52:10laugh. And then you can tell Bob just.
- 52:11Like nobody who just goes. Has she just been waiting in the
- 52:14fridge, waiting for one of us to open it?
- 52:20It's so funny. Anyway, listen, was it watch the
- 52:23other special surprise guests where somebody said, look, I
- 52:26really like you and I really respect you and I've always
- 52:27wanted to meet you, but I just can't I'm.
- 52:29Gonna I cannot talk to you. Yeah.
- 52:31I cannot talk to you. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:34My favorite thing in it is when someone gets halfway through an
- 52:37anecdote and then just goes, no, I shouldn't have and what's up
- 52:40because they're gonna laugh. Like I'm about to make myself
- 52:43laugh, yeah. There was one woman who got out
- 52:45by doing that. The really kind of Yeah.
- 52:48And then? It's about the old people making
- 52:50more mess than hadn't. Gotten to Yeah, she hadn't.
- 52:52Gotten to the funny bit. So no one else was laughing and
- 52:55she and they're like, no one asked you to tell this story.
- 52:59You've done? Yeah.
- 53:00It's you've torpedoed yourself. Yeah.
- 53:02Why have you done this? So I just looked up to see how
- 53:05many versions of the show up there are.
- 53:07There are 25 versions of it. Wow.
- 53:10There's something like 20 versions of that fucking.
- 53:12Taskmaster. Dark dark fucking murder.
- 53:16Show the bridge where they find a body between two countries.
- 53:20Every country that borders another country has has bought
- 53:23the rights to it. What I do find funny on this,
- 53:25this little blurb I just like there's 25 different version of
- 53:28like all over the world, but they got surprisingly no
- 53:31American version yet and I don't think it would work for America
- 53:34because. No, I don't.
- 53:36Even Yeah. Who would you even have in it?
- 53:38Yeah. I could see like the people you
- 53:43know, so like Steve Carell or somebody like.
- 53:48But then movie stars Britain has show TV shows, Yeah, like non
- 53:54scripted, where the idea is just these are the people who are on
- 53:58these shows and they're funny. I think, Yep, he'd get like the
- 54:02Sunny guys or somebody maybe, but then they would just laugh,
- 54:05like, yeah, yeah, like you can get Rob Mcaleny in there.
- 54:08He'd be fucking out in a minute. He's always laughing.
- 54:12Did you read this week that he's changing his name?
- 54:15Rob Mcelhenny. Yes.
- 54:16What? He's going to change his name to
- 54:18just Rob Mack. Is he OK?
- 54:22Well, I've read that he was, I mean, that's all.
- 54:24I mean, I'm, I don't have a source other than the Internet,
- 54:27but I was like, oh, OK. But they've got a whole song
- 54:30about him that Ryan Reynolds had commissioned.
- 54:33Oh, yeah. We've got Ryan Reynolds news.
- 54:35We never got to that. Oh.
- 54:37Yeah, what was the Ryan Reynolds news I.
- 54:39Don't know what the news was, but I did see, you just reminded
- 54:42me. The thing I saw about Ryan
- 54:44Reynolds was that it was, I didn't even see this someone
- 54:48saying that Ryan Reynolds is very unpopular amongst other
- 54:52celebrities because he tries to insert himself into a lot of
- 54:55things and he tries to No, no, no, he just tries to make, you
- 55:01know, like if he shows up at a premiere, he likes attention.
- 55:04And so he's very apparently, I don't know how this might have
- 55:07just been horseshit, but it was a thing saying that that yes,
- 55:10he's he's unpopular amongst other stars because he's very
- 55:13attention seeking and he tries to take over everything.
- 55:17And I was like, oh, OK. I mean, I guess I believe it
- 55:20just because of his personality. But yeah, I don't know how.
- 55:23Actually true, that is. I don't know whether I care or
- 55:25not. Is like many people are.
- 55:28Yeah, they were. They're always, they always do
- 55:30that. I can't imagine Robin Williams
- 55:33went to a lot of parties and was like, I'll just be in the corner
- 55:35drinker. Yeah.
- 55:38Yeah, exactly. Oh, sure.
- 55:40Yeah, I. Remembered what?
- 55:41My Rob's thing My not my Rob Mcelhenny news my.
- 55:46Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds News But I'll
- 55:48leave it up to the after party as a little.
- 55:50Tease. All right.
- 55:52That's where I'll put it. And listeners who are confused
- 55:55why the association between Rob Mcaleny and Ryan Mills is
- 55:58Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 is out.
- 56:00I've been watching it. Quite, quite good.
- 56:02Continues to be good. Yeah, I've not watched it.
- 56:04They're coming to. Australia.
- 56:06Who are Wrexham? Wrexham.
- 56:08Oh cool. Coming to play some exhibition.
- 56:10Matches with the Socceroos. No, we've like just our local
- 56:17A-Team, so don't even like the Australian teams like the local
- 56:21CDFC or whatever it is, yeah. Right I.
- 56:23Think it smashed. They've done that over here.
- 56:25They've come over to play US teams and stuff.
- 56:28Actually in the women's Wrexham team did it too.
- 56:30You see that on this season. One thing I found interesting
- 56:32this season, Wrexham are doing really well and, and, and they
- 56:37weren't and I think you can't attribute a lot of it to.
- 56:41The financial and influx of. Basically correct money and just
- 56:45like and tourism and you know, like the community's doing
- 56:49better, the team's doing better. It's been it's been a win for
- 56:52them. Just sure.
- 56:53And I think the documentary is a big part of that, not just the
- 56:57fact that that Rob and Ryan own and are putting money in.
- 57:02They've made it into a spectacle, yes, and it's been
- 57:04very successful and so. It was another team if it wasn't
- 57:07going to be a show too. Or did they do it?
- 57:09No, I think that was all part of it.
- 57:11Yeah, OK. I think, I think they talk about
- 57:13it in the first season. They take this is the we want to
- 57:15do this whole thing. Yeah, Remember they were filming
- 57:19the show. Why?
- 57:20They were going to the town go. Can we buy it?
- 57:23Yeah. Whether?
- 57:24They, I think the first episode is the because the board had to
- 57:27decide. You let these guys, these
- 57:29fucking Hollywood. Is one of them like soccer?
- 57:31Is did either of them? Do they both like soccer?
- 57:33I think Rob, I don't think Ryan Reynolds had any.
- 57:36I could be mistaken, but I think I think it was just a lot of.
- 57:39Americans. Oh, he's not American.
- 57:41He's Canadian. Ryan Reynolds, yeah.
- 57:43Ryan Reynolds. Rob's American, yes, but I think
- 57:46he, I think Rob was pushing for it.
- 57:48I think it was his idea. And then?
- 57:50That's the thing, they didn't know each other before they went
- 57:53into this venture. Actually, no, because I think
- 57:56one of the jokes was Rob was like, I wanted to do this thing
- 57:59and I needed somebody with a bunch of money to to do it with
- 58:03me so that I didn't have to pay for it all.
- 58:05And so I yeah, so he contacted. Ryan, There's also roughly the
- 58:08same height and muscularity of. More money.
- 58:14But there's another team now who has hired What's the fucking
- 58:20football player? The American football player
- 58:23from Boston. People who live here are gonna.
- 58:26Not gonna know. Anyway, there's another team
- 58:28doing a similar thing where they've gotten a big, big
- 58:30American investors who are making a a thing out of it.
- 58:33So it's kind of like, and it so basically Americans are now
- 58:39getting involved in British soccer and it's very, it's
- 58:42become controversial because there's a big influx of American
- 58:45money now to make to improve these teams.
- 58:47But. Also, sometimes, just because it
- 58:49worked one time doesn't mean it's going to work the second
- 58:53time. Where is.
- 58:54Wrexham in the United Kingdom. In Wales it's like N kind of
- 58:59yeah, it's like I think a bit down from Liverpool and whatnot.
- 59:04I think it's a day trip from Liverpool is my understanding
- 59:08all right? Just across into Wales.
- 59:14Anyway, interesting show. Yeah, I saw one episode and
- 59:19enjoyed it and then never watched it again.
- 59:22That's how good it is, listeners.
- 59:24It's pretty much how I did Clarkson's Farm, too.
- 59:28I watched the first episode. I went, oh, it's quite good.
- 59:30Yeah, it's never put it back on. The new season of Clarkson's
- 59:33Farm is very good Season 4. I can't believe they've got Four
- 59:39Seasons out of that. Honestly he just keeps I enjoyed
- 59:42it pretty good but I just can't believe some more he.
- 59:46Keeps doing stuff no, no, he's. Doing no, it's different every
- 59:48time. Yeah, OK.
- 59:50Because he's he's trying stuff like he tries the restaurant one
- 59:53season. Oh.
- 59:56This new season he's, I mean, slight spoilers for show, You
- 1:00:00probably see this in the trailers or whatever.
- 1:00:02This season he's buying a pub and it's right.
- 1:00:05So it's like, yeah. That'd be nice.
- 1:00:08I'd like to buy a pub. Oh.
- 1:00:10You see the fucking pub you bought?
- 1:00:11Oh yeah. Yeah, you got to Joshi.
- 1:00:14Get Luke. No, not the new season, no.
- 1:00:16Yeah, it's beautiful. Well, they set up Season 3,
- 1:00:19which was because he had the third.
- 1:00:21The first scene was a shop. The second season was the Lambs
- 1:00:25all got their own sort of bit of a side project thing.
- 1:00:29Mushrooms. One season mushrooms is very
- 1:00:32funny. He decides to grab mushrooms.
- 1:00:34He doesn't know what the fuck he's doing.
- 1:00:35That's the actually the, the the theme of the whole show is he
- 1:00:38decides he wants to do something and he doesn't know what the
- 1:00:40fuck he's doing. Yeah, but he'll have a go, and
- 1:00:44then professionals will stand there and laugh at him.
- 1:00:47Yeah. That's kind of basically the
- 1:00:48premise. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:50You know, it's funny when when I looked at the spreadsheet before
- 1:00:52we started recording, I was like, sucked in.
