- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 53! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? We've learned so much together. Hello, feelings, body parts, even days of the week. Luna: Days of the week! That was last episode. I've been practicing every morning: Isnin, Selasa, Rabu... Lucas: Love it. And now we're going to add something bigger: months of the year. Luna: Ooh, months! Like Januari, Februari... I think I've heard some of these before. Lucas: Exactly. They're very similar to English, which makes them easy to remember. Let's start with the first three. First: Januari. Luna: Januari. Lucas: Perfect. Januari. Next: Februari. Luna: Februari. That one trips me up a little. feb ru ari. Lucas: You've got it. And third: Mac. Luna: Mac. Like the computer? Lucas: Exactly the same pronunciation. Mac. So first three: Januari, Februari, Mac. Luna: Januari, Februari, Mac. Got it. Lucas: Now the next three. April. Luna: April. Lucas: Mei. Luna: Mei. Like the month May but spelled m e i. Lucas: Right. And last: Jun. Luna: Jun. Short and sweet. Lucas: So let's say them all together: Januari, Februari, Mac, April, Mei, Jun. Luna: Januari, Februari, Mac, April, Mei, Jun. I like how similar they are. Lucas: Yes, the spelling is a little different, but the sound is almost identical to English. Now let's put them into a sentence. How about: Hari ini bulan Januari. Luna: Hari ini bulan Januari. That means 'Today is January'. Lucas: Exactly. Bulan means month. So 'Hari ini bulan Januari' — today is the month of January. Luna: Okay, what about February? Hari ini bulan Februari. Lucas: Perfect. Now you try with Mac. Luna: Hari ini bulan Mac. Lucas: Yes! So now you can say what month it is. Let's do a quick practice. I'll say a month in English, you say it in Malay. Luna: Okay, hit me. Lucas: January. Luna: Januari. Lucas: February. Luna: Februari. Lucas: March. Luna: Mac. Lucas: April. Luna: April. Lucas: May. Luna: Mei. Lucas: June. Luna: Jun. Lucas: You nailed it. Now let's make it more personal. When's your birthday, Luna? Luna: My birthday is in April. So I would say: Hari jadi saya bulan April. Lucas: Excellent! 'Hari jadi' means birthday. So 'Hari jadi saya bulan April' — my birthday is in April. Luna: Nice. What about you, Lucas? Lucas: My birthday is in June. So: Hari jadi saya bulan Jun. Luna: Hari jadi saya bulan Jun. Easy. So if someone asks me 'Bilakah hari jadi awak?' — when is your birthday? — I can say 'Hari jadi saya bulan April'. Lucas: Exactly that. Let's practice that question and answer. I'll ask you: Bilakah hari jadi awak? Luna: Hari jadi saya bulan April. Lucas: Perfect. Now you ask me. Luna: Bilakah hari jadi awak? Lucas: Hari jadi saya bulan Jun. Luna: I notice that for months like Januari and Februari, they're longer words. Any tips for remembering? Lucas: Just think of the English word and change the ending a bit. Januari, Februari — they sound very close. And Mac, April, Mei, Jun are almost identical. Luna: True. I think I can remember them now. Let me say them one more time from the top: Januari, Februari, Mac, April, Mei, Jun. Lucas: Beautiful. So now you know the first six months. Next time we'll do the rest: Julai, Ogos, September, Oktober, November, Disember. Luna: Looking forward to it! But for now, I'm going to practice these every day. Januari, Februari, Mac... Lucas: That's the spirit. And remember, you can practice with Fexingo anytime. We've got more episodes waiting for you. Luna: Yeah, download the app or keep listening here. We'll be back with more Malay soon. Lucas: Until next time, selamat belajar — happy learning! Luna: Bye bye!
