- 0:48Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's Word with notes, quotes,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and stories, along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:03Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:20Speaker 1: for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:27Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:33Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:40Speaker 2: A very familiar scripture states we know all things work
- 1:47Speaker 2: together for the good of those who love God, those
- 1:50Speaker 2: who are called according to His purpose. For those he
- 1:54Speaker 2: fore knew. He also predestined to be conformed to the
- 1:58Speaker 2: image of his son, so that he would be the
- 2:01Speaker 2: first born among many brothers, and those he predestined he
- 2:06Speaker 2: also called. He also justified, and those he justified he
- 2:12Speaker 2: also glorified. Romans eight twenty eight through thirty. Are we
- 2:20Speaker 2: in tune with God? Perhaps you've experienced listening to an orchestra,
- 2:26Speaker 2: as all the instruments are being tuned to one specific note.
- 2:30Speaker 2: It is in their individual and diverse expression of that
- 2:34Speaker 2: sound that is used to position the instruments for service.
- 2:39Speaker 2: There are more ways of expressing our adoration and worship
- 2:43Speaker 2: of God than there are instruments in any orchestra. A
- 2:48Speaker 2: plumb line is a simple tool used to define an
- 2:52Speaker 2: absolute point. Suspended from a height above the floor. It
- 2:57Speaker 2: nearly touches the surface, but when it's oop's motion there
- 3:01Speaker 2: is perfect balance or level. The slightest motion exerted from
- 3:07Speaker 2: the area surrounding the plumb will take it off balance.
- 3:12Speaker 2: A rudder is a directional instrument used to guide a
- 3:16Speaker 2: ship and thereby keep it on course. The directional guide
- 3:21Speaker 2: is monitored by a compass. The course is maintained by
- 3:26Speaker 2: controlling the rudder in alignment with the compass bearing. These
- 3:31Speaker 2: all represent examples of being in tune, on balance, on course.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Let's look at a biblical example of this in the
- 3:40Speaker 2: Book of Joshua, the army of Israel was encamped on
- 3:45Speaker 2: the outskirts of a great city, Jericho. The army, under
- 3:50Speaker 2: Joshua's leadership was about to come into perfect tune with
- 3:54Speaker 2: God's plan. God had promised to hand over Jericho's king,
- 3:59Speaker 2: his fighting men, and the entire city. We find that
- 4:03Speaker 2: in Joshua Chapter six, verses one and two, all that
- 4:08Speaker 2: the Israelites were to do was simply followed God's direction.
- 4:13Speaker 2: They were to march around the city one time for
- 4:16Speaker 2: each of the next six days, without making a sound,
- 4:21Speaker 2: no battle cry, no trumpets, sounding charge, nothing. There were
- 4:26Speaker 2: seven priests who carried seven ramshorned trumpets in front of
- 4:32Speaker 2: the Ark of the Covenant. On the seventh day, this
- 4:36Speaker 2: same action was followed, only this time they marched around
- 4:42Speaker 2: the city seven times while the priests blew their trumpets.
- 4:48Speaker 2: With a final prolonged blast of the trumpets, the army
- 4:52Speaker 2: was commanded to shout, and the huge walls surrounding the
- 4:57Speaker 2: city fell. This was an army in tune with God.
- 5:04Speaker 2: There are several significant factors that we learn from the
- 5:08Speaker 2: miraculous fall of Jericho. This was an army numbering thousands
- 5:13Speaker 2: of men under complete control. Note that the priest's position
- 5:19Speaker 2: was in front of the procession, carrying the Ark of
- 5:22Speaker 2: the Covenant and the signaling trumpets. For six days they
- 5:27Speaker 2: practiced for the seventh day, when God would deliver the city.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Note again, without a sound, just the march in unison
- 5:37Speaker 2: of thousands of foot soldiers that alone must have seemed
- 5:42Speaker 2: like the thunder of a mighty storm to come on
- 5:45Speaker 2: the seventh day, they are all in perfect formation. The
- 5:50Speaker 2: priest lead, carrying the Ark of the Covenant, and blow
- 5:54Speaker 2: the seven trumpets. When the final long blast is in
- 5:58Speaker 2: perfect balance, the army army shouts with all the energy
- 6:02Speaker 2: saved up for this special moment. That sound reverberated with
- 6:07Speaker 2: such frequency that brick and mortar separated and the mighty
- 6:11Speaker 2: walls of Jericho crumbled. God used instruments that were in
- 6:17Speaker 2: perfect tune with his plan to deliver the city.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 6:25Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us you've been listening to
- 6:27Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard Ka. You can hear
- 6:30Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as
- 6:33Speaker 1: Richard's entire archive at Talknetwork Radio.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Dot Com.
- 6:38Speaker 1: We would like to acknowledge our theme song, how Great
- 6:41Speaker 1: Is Thy Faithfulness from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns
- 6:44Speaker 1: album unless otherwise. Express scriptures are read from the Holman
- 6:49Speaker 1: Christian Standard Bible, which is published by Homan Bible Publishers
- 6:53Speaker 1: in Nashville, Tennessee. Additional resources used for reflections on the
- 6:57Speaker 1: Word with Richard Kay include Great Is Thy Faithfulness by
- 7:02Speaker 1: Our Daily Breadth and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again,
- 7:06Speaker 1: here is Richard to wrap up today's message.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Are we willing to wait until God sounds the trumpet
- 7:14Speaker 2: for us to march? How can we be more in
- 7:18Speaker 2: tune with God? Sometimes our plans may be good, but
- 7:23Speaker 2: they're just not God's. We need to examine our motives
- 7:29Speaker 2: and pray that God tunes us, just as the orchestra
- 7:33Speaker 2: conductor sees that the most beautiful music can be the
- 7:37Speaker 2: result of tuning. Once we are in plumb with God's plan,
- 7:43Speaker 2: we should set our guide to follow his direction. Being
- 7:47Speaker 2: led by the Holy Spirit, pray, continually, study God's word,
- 7:54Speaker 2: fellowship with other believers, and be a witness to a
- 7:58Speaker 2: life born again through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Remember all
- 8:04Speaker 2: those led by God's Spirit are God's Sons Romans eight fourteen.
- 8:14Speaker 2: And that is today's Reflection on the Word.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 8:23Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
