- 0:00Speaker 1: Final segment with Gino. You're on the radio show. Perhaps
- 0:03Speaker 1: we have a little after show with the folks here
- 0:06Speaker 1: at Cabber. We'll do another one of these towards the
- 0:08Speaker 1: end of the month of February. In fact, I can
- 0:10Speaker 1: already tell you we'll have a men's hockey coaches show
- 0:13Speaker 1: that night. Adam will have that one it bears with Calve.
- 0:15Speaker 2: And then when calv on.
- 0:17Speaker 1: The twenty fifth whatever, that Monday is, the last Monday
- 0:20Speaker 1: in February, we'll do a show a cave at Bears.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Adam will anchor that, and then I'll have we'll have
- 0:26Speaker 1: you here or if you want to jump in early,
- 0:28Speaker 1: maybe we can. You can be here. Cav will be
- 0:30Speaker 1: there and you guys can go at it for an hour.
- 0:32Speaker 2: We'll look.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We can let you do that.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Too, Okay, I like that.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Sunday is the play for K game, right, I believe
- 0:39Speaker 1: so game? What's that mean to you? What special meaning
- 0:43Speaker 1: does that have for you? I mean, I know the
- 0:45Speaker 1: folks in Omaha did a great job with their game,
- 0:47Speaker 1: but this is an annual event. But what's the meaning
- 0:49Speaker 1: to you?
- 0:53Speaker 2: You know that you were saying earlier about how long
- 0:58Speaker 2: I've coached and how many coaches have coached against. And
- 1:02Speaker 2: I realized about a week ago. We were talking with
- 1:05Speaker 2: some people, actually the new coach at Clemson, and we
- 1:08Speaker 2: were talking and I said, you know Joe Champion, who
- 1:12Speaker 2: was a longtime coach at Auburn. They went to like
- 1:14Speaker 2: four final fours or whatever. His last game ever was
- 1:19Speaker 2: against US in Bridgeport in the NC Tournament.
- 1:23Speaker 1: It was on your birthday. I think too.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Maybe I think we won the game. He retired like
- 1:27Speaker 2: the next day, so I don't know what the hell
- 1:30Speaker 2: that means. And then fast forward we played NC State Okay. Yeah,
- 1:37Speaker 2: I was coaching in Fresno, California in the sweet sixteen
- 1:42Speaker 2: game and we lost two days later too LSU. But
- 1:48Speaker 2: we beat Okay and she retired like two days later.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So I coached against her when I was at Uba,
- 1:58Speaker 2: coached against her. I was here, and she's a legendary coach,
- 2:04Speaker 2: but a legendary human being who always treated people with
- 2:08Speaker 2: the utmost dignity and respect and past her team that
- 2:12Speaker 2: way and back when no one was paying attention really
- 2:17Speaker 2: to one of these basketball she was kind of like
- 2:22Speaker 2: the spokesperson for the way the game should be played.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I just loved my interactions with her. I felt bad
- 2:35Speaker 2: though they were number one in the country in nineteen
- 2:37Speaker 2: ninety one when Meghan Pattison were playing and would beat
- 2:40Speaker 2: them to go to the final four, and I felt
- 2:42Speaker 2: so terrible because they had the best team in the country.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I mean I felt terrible later, not that night, but.
- 2:47Speaker 1: All right, we're going on the radio show. Thanks for
- 2:49Speaker 1: tuning in to the after show here. Thanks for joining us.
