- 0:00Interesting developments, some of them topical today and some
- 0:03of the you all have heard me talk about this, but I think
- 0:06this should be in an outrage really to every taxpaying
- 0:10citizen. We're talking about the
- 0:11Inflation Reduction Act, which is almost two years old as of
- 0:17this August. And it also, I noticed in the
- 0:21President's schedule that he was getting briefed on the Inflation
- 0:25Reduction Act. So I'm sure he got this briefing
- 0:28while he was being briefed on the Inflation Reduction Act,
- 0:32which we have renamed Invested Radical Activities Act because
- 0:36that's what this is about. So we've really been digging
- 0:39into who is getting these massive amounts of grants
- 0:44through the EPA. There's $3 billion in the in the
- 0:49Inflation Reduction Act, the IRA that will go for climate,
- 0:53different climate kind of buckets.
- 0:55And in our investigation we found that a lot of this money
- 0:59that's going out really has little to do with the
- 1:01environment and a lot to do with funding groups that are
- 1:06basically engaged in what I characterizes anti American
- 1:10activities. They're anti American,
- 1:12anti-Semitic, anti Israel, anti police and anti border security.
- 1:19So the first one I'm going to go to is, and before I do that, I'm
- 1:23also going to say that Vice President Harris, who is now the
- 1:29nominee for the Democrat presidential race, is quoted
- 1:33here. I've put equity at the center of
- 1:35our nation's largest investment in climate in history to reach
- 1:38the organizations that know their community best.
- 1:41That's what she said when they rolled out and actually named
- 1:44these organizations. And interestingly today there
- 1:47was a news article today saying that the green groups have now
- 1:52formed a coalition today and guess who they're endorsing for
- 1:55president, Vice President Harris.
- 1:58So let's go over to the following one.
- 2:00I say follow the money because I think that's where you find out.
- 2:03The first one is climate justice.
- 2:05It's up on the top right hand bar there, $100 million.
- 2:10They have glorified Hamas in a lot of their social media, on
- 2:15their websites and other things and they think Israel has no
- 2:19right to exist. They're getting $100 million.
- 2:22This is a direct grant to them. The next one is the NDN
- 2:28collective. You know them.
- 2:30Yes, they are a partner. Yes, they on their social media
- 2:34called the United States a so-called country and also call
- 2:38for the defunding of the police and our United States military.
- 2:41Imagine that in these times right now.
- 2:43Next we have two New York and New Jersey coalitions that are
- 2:47getting $50 million. They're actually going to be
- 2:50participating in granting $50 million.
- 2:53Their quotes are the border and concept of citizenship is racist
- 2:58and once no collaboration with federal immigration officials
- 3:02and the ICE agenda is racist as well.
- 3:06Then we have the social and environmental entrepreneurs $50
- 3:10million again, abolish police, abolish prisons.
- 3:15The the latest one these were all those previous ones I'm
- 3:17talking about were all announced in December by the vice
- 3:20president and named on the EP as materials as they as they rolled
- 3:26them out through the press. The Ella Baker Center for Human
- 3:30Rights, the most recent funding was announced last week, is
- 3:33getting between one and $3,000,000.
- 3:35And they are actively advocating to defund police, decriminalize
- 3:39shoplifting and abolish our prisons.
- 3:43So I think that that this uncovers quite a bit of the
- 3:47three billion. We're up to 200 million,
- 3:51actually a little bit more than that, if if you count everything
- 3:54all in and this is just the lack of accountability.
- 3:58The administrator of the EPA has been questioned about this.
- 4:01He says the money hasn't gone out.
- 4:03That's their, that was their first thing.
- 4:04Well, they haven't gotten the money yet.
- 4:06Now they're saying, well, we don't, we don't check out the
- 4:09partner organizations. So this Indian would be a
- 4:12partner organization as opposed to an actual grantee.
- 4:15So why aren't you vetting these people?
- 4:17I mean, this is taxpayers dollars and what do they have to
- 4:20do with telling people how to live and cope better and clean
- 4:25up their environment? So I think that we need to know
- 4:28that these are appalling to me and to many of us who work hard
- 4:36to make sure that we're not just paying our taxes, but we're also
- 4:39making sure that we're making good investments from from the
- 4:42federal government. So what are we doing about it?
- 4:44Well, we're shining a light on it and urging the EPA to not
- 4:48disperse this money. And and coincidentally, they
- 4:50haven't dispersed all of this money yet.
- 4:52So we'll see what happens. We are, I pushed in the
- 4:55Appropriations Committee for more money for the EPA Inspector
- 4:58General, somebody to follow the money within the EPA because
- 5:02they know best an Inspector General would be able to do
- 5:05that. And then I think the most
- 5:06important thing is when we take control of Congress after
- 5:10January, we will be able to defund a lot of this, but we
- 5:14also be able to follow it and do much more oversight.
- 5:17So I'm going to turn it over to my friend from Nebraska and see
- 5:20his perspective. On this, well, thank you,
- 5:22Senator Capito, for highlighting this and showing some
- 5:25transparency and some sunlight on what's going on here with
- 5:28regard to these grants through the Inflation Reduction Act, but
- 5:31as you all more aptly named it, the Investment and Radical
- 5:34Activist Act, because that's exactly what we're doing here.
- 5:37When you're giving money to organizations like the Climate
- 5:41Justice Alliance and they are funding the Wash on March, March
- 5:45on Washington, and they are waving the free Palestinian
- 5:49flags and so forth, we're paying them to lobby our government.
- 5:56I got to tell you, everyday Nebraskans don't think that's a
- 5:59good idea like that. Our tax dollars should go to
- 6:02radical organizations to lobby our own government.
- 6:05That's just crazy. And you're talking about the NDN
- 6:08collective and the things they want to do, like abolishing the
- 6:11military, abolishing the police, abolishing Customs and Border
- 6:13Protection, abolishing immigration, Customs
- 6:16Enforcement. Again, everyday Americans think
- 6:19those organizations are important organizations and we
- 6:21want to keep them to keep us safe.
- 6:23They are way out of step with what everyday Americans want to
- 6:27see. This is really, really radical
- 6:30stuff that they're they're promoting.
- 6:32And then we have organizations like the social and
- 6:36environmental entrepreneurs who are spreading Climate Act
- 6:40alarmism and again, funding left wing groups.
- 6:43This is not what our tax dollars are supposed to go for.
- 6:47And to your point about the EPA, because all this money is going
- 6:50through the EPA, I was just talking to a company yesterday
- 6:52who said, hey, we need more help with getting permits done.
- 6:55We can't get permits fast enough, frankly, for some of
- 6:58these environmental projects even.
- 7:00And it's because the money is going to fund these radical
- 7:03organizations. And not that nobody's paying
- 7:06attention to how many people have got work in their different
- 7:08regions to be able to help get these permits processed.
- 7:10So on the one hand, the EPA has got legitimate business.
- 7:13They're not getting done. On the other hand, they're
- 7:15funding these radical and environmentalists and other
- 7:18sorts of organizations. And again, just gets back to
- 7:22everyday Americans. That's not how they want their
- 7:24money spent. They want their money spent here
- 7:27in Washington, DC wisely. And when you see the frustration
- 7:30that people have Washington, DC, this is a prime example of why
- 7:35they have that frustration. So I want to again thank Senator
- 7:38Capito for highlighting this, for shining some sunshine on
- 7:42this so that we can get some changes made.
- 7:45We are now sitting at $35 trillion in debt.
- 7:50We have got to get our spending under control.
- 7:52And spending on this kind of radical activism is not the way
- 7:55we should be spending our tax dollars.
- 7:56I'll turn it over to you. Well.
- 7:58Said well said. So any questions?
- 8:00Yeah, Josh. Yeah, thanks for doing.
- 8:06This just, I mean, as far as you said, you know, if you say the
- 8:09tax control account issues that you know, rollback this program,
- 8:13I mean it's as far as in the in the universe of IRA components.
- 8:17Do you view this as as what kind of right this targets or things
- 8:20you think Trump should prioritize?
- 8:23The people, Well, well, I mean. 'Cause he's he's talking about
- 8:26almost the entirety of. The bill, OK, we, we know well
- 8:30#1 there's there's been a recent rush to get this money out.
- 8:34And that's because they know that there's a likelihood, we
- 8:38like to think a high likelihood that the administration will
- 8:41change come November. And so they're rushing to get
- 8:45the money out and you see who they're sending it to.
- 8:48So we have that how in, in this pot of money, in the $3 billion
- 8:52for the EPA, it would probably be predicated on how much is
- 8:56left. We would certainly try to claw
- 8:57that back. But but at at the minimum, we
- 9:00would have more opportunity for sunlight here and more
- 9:02opportunity for oversight. In terms of other parts of the
- 9:06IRAI think some of the tax provisions, I mean it was just
- 9:10such a bloated, you know, Pete's talked about our our debt, we
- 9:15talked about the inflation. Everybody who knows anything
- 9:19attributes our inflationary rise over the last two years to this
- 9:24IRA and the bloated spending. And then they cap that with the
- 9:27expansion of of our debt. So I think, I think this is
- 9:33something that would be a top priority for all of us and I
- 9:35don't know if you want to say anything about what we could and
- 9:37would do. Yeah.
- 9:38I mean, when you look at partisan bills that are passed
- 9:41that include reckless spending, that's one of the things that's
- 9:44driving inflation. We've got to control that in if
- 9:46we're going to get inflation under control.
- 9:48There's other things that we have to do, like being able to
- 9:51use our own energy resources to help bring prices down, but
- 9:54we've got to get the spending under control.
- 9:55And so if we have a new administration, a new
- 9:57opportunity, we got to be able to start raising some of this
- 10:00money in, especially when it's being wasted on radical
- 10:03political activities, which is not what the American taxpayers
- 10:05signed up for. Yeah, do.
- 10:08You have any? Do you feel like you have any
- 10:10recourse more immediately to try to figure out what these groups
- 10:15are doing with this money like? Are you sending?
- 10:17Letters to EPA or or the groups. Well, EPA is well aware of our
- 10:23extreme concern on this. I mean, here's a small victory
- 10:28climate Just Climate Justice Alliance redid their website and
- 10:33took all that down. I mean, what is that?
- 10:36Oh, is that OK now? I mean, so I feel like we're,
- 10:40our voices are being heard, at least in a small way.
- 10:44No response from the administration at all.
- 10:46No response from the administrator on this.
- 10:50And, and so right now we're just, I think our best path is
- 10:54to just shine a light on it and talk about it.
- 10:56And this isn't going to be the end of this.
- 10:58I think this is just the beginning, yes, so.
- 11:02In the past in response to your investigation of these groups
- 11:07and uncovering. What exactly they?
- 11:09Stand for the EPA has said, you know, political message or
- 11:15political beliefs are not in our criteria.
- 11:17They don't play a role in how we choose and how we score.
- 11:21These. Grants.
- 11:23And they've also said that the specific money of the grants
- 11:28that are pending or go out can't be used for messaging
- 11:31activities. It can only be used for this
- 11:33specific purpose that's outlined.
- 11:36My response? But do you want to go ahead?
- 11:38You want to go first. Well, I mean, common sense tells
- 11:41you if you have $100 million coming into your nonprofit
- 11:47organization and you have certain political beliefs that
- 11:53you've been espousing all through your existence, not just
- 11:57in your social media, but for for years, that to say that you
- 12:02would never use that money in in, in to be guided towards anti
- 12:10police or anti what happens, it frees up the anti police money
- 12:14so you have more anti police money.
- 12:16I mean, that just makes sense to me.
- 12:18If somebody's going to get $100 million, you're going to have
- 12:20much more to do your political events or your political
- 12:23espousing through that. And there's no coincidence that
- 12:27just today they've announced they're going to endorse the
- 12:32person who announced them and the EPA administrators.
- 12:36I like him, but his response to this has been very, very
- 12:41deficit. He told the House members when
- 12:44questioned about this, because they got the information from
- 12:46us. He told the House members, well,
- 12:48they haven't gotten it yet. Well, why are you putting a
- 12:51press release out that these are the people that are going to get
- 12:54it? These are the organizations that
- 12:55are going to get it if you don't intend to actually give them the
- 12:57money. I mean, that to me is either at
- 13:00the least sloppy or at the most deceptive and oh, you got kind
- 13:05of got caught being unaware or try to slip something through.
- 13:11So I don't know. Yeah, I would just build upon
- 13:14that. Money's fungible, right?
- 13:15You can move money around. And so if you've got money that
- 13:18covers administrative expenses, you're paying part of the rent.
- 13:20That part of the rent means that you don't have to go up and
- 13:22raise the money to do your political activities, right?
- 13:25So the money's fungible. The only thing I'd point out is
- 13:27that there's been such a lack of diligence from the EPA that
- 13:32allows the money to go to these groups.
- 13:33Why would we have any confidence that they're doing any sort of
- 13:37audit to make sure the grant money is being spent in the way
- 13:40that it's supposed to be spent? I don't have any confidence the
- 13:43EPA is checking up on these groups after even just seeing
- 13:47the groups they've gone to. So zero confidence the EPA
- 13:50actually knows how this money is being spent do.
- 13:52You believe that when they say that political affiliation or
- 13:57messaging has nothing to do with your criteria, it's not
- 13:59involved. I would say the, the I would
- 14:02question that back and say why are we paying for any political
- 14:06activity? It should be a criteria.
- 14:07You should say you can not have this if you are going to, you
- 14:12know, lobby the federal government with the money that
- 14:14we're giving you, right? And then again, unless you're
- 14:16actually auditing to find that out, we can't have any
- 14:18confidence in that. I mean, I'll go back to what I
- 14:22said earlier. If you have no, if you have no
- 14:24political messaging and you're not supposed to be a political
- 14:27group, why are you endorsing somebody for president if you're
- 14:31not interested in the political environment?
- 14:34Yeah. Is this something that you've
- 14:36asked the EP Inspector General? EPA Inspector General.
- 14:39Or GAO to look into. We haven't asked yet.
- 14:43I don't believe I got my staff back here, but I will tell you
- 14:45this. In the in the IRA, the authors
- 14:52of the bill did not include, while they're getting $3
- 14:55billion, did not include one single dollar for extra
- 14:59oversight of those dollars. So the EPA has an Inspector
- 15:02General and what we get back from the Inspector General is or
- 15:05from the EPA as well. We need more resources within
- 15:10our agency to be able to move forward on this.
- 15:13So we did get $5,000,000 through Senator Murkowski's bill of the,
- 15:18I think it's 30 that they get for their IG. 5 million is
- 15:23directed towards this. So that's a minor victory.
- 15:25I had an amendment that would have said we need to move this
- 15:28up to 20 million because to try to follow the money of $3
- 15:32billion, that's a pretty hefty load.
- 15:35And that's what happens when you pour so much money in so fast,
- 15:41it gets wasted. And we see it all the time.
- 15:43Why don't we learn the lesson of this?
- 15:45And now it's not only getting wasted, it's getting poured into
- 15:48radical activists. So thanks a lot.
- 15:51Yep. Did you have a question?
- 15:52I was just. Going to say following up on.
- 15:54That is, are you sort of keeping that option?
- 15:58In the Clipper right? Depending.
- 16:01On what we're not, this is not the end of this.
- 16:03So yes, I think we will. We will pursue.
- 16:05And by the way, nice flower, I like it.
- 16:09OK. Thanks guys.
