- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, welcome, guys, to the world-famous Phil Henry Show from
- 0:05Speaker 1: Ted Bell Canyon. Yes, the world-famous Phil Henry Show, brought
- 0:09Speaker 1: to you by philhenryshow.com. Go over to the merch store,
- 0:11Speaker 1: pick something up. Even if you don't have a friend
- 0:14Speaker 1: to give anything to, you can buy something for yourself
- 0:16Speaker 1: and then wait to make a friend and then give
- 0:19Speaker 1: that to the person that you've just met as a friend.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I don't know how long that's going to... I just
- 0:26Speaker 1: don't think it's a very effective... you know, sales pitch
- 0:29Speaker 1: for the website.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Well, I think it's unique. You say, I know you
- 0:32Speaker 2: may not have no friends, but buy a present and
- 0:36Speaker 2: you make one.
- 0:37Speaker 1: You may not have no friends.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I mean, you may not have any friends, but you
- 0:42Speaker 2: will have a friend someday. So buy a present, put
- 0:44Speaker 2: it in a closet or just put it like under
- 0:46Speaker 2: your bed or something.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Maybe in the garage?
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah, just put it in the garage. And then when
- 0:50Speaker 2: you go, ah, this is a friend, you give it
- 0:52Speaker 2: to them.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great. So I thought that was just a gag,
- 0:56Speaker 1: but you guys are serious. No, I just was letting
- 0:58Speaker 1: Bud kind of, you know, play it out.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I thought you guys were joking, too.
- 1:02Speaker 3: So you're joking.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, so anyway, welcome to the world-famous Phil Henry Show.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Go to our merch store, and now I think I'm
- 1:09Speaker 1: going to seriously pitch that. Get something. Even if you
- 1:11Speaker 1: don't have a friend, put it in the garage, stick
- 1:13Speaker 1: it under the bed, and when you finally make a friend,
- 1:15Speaker 1: give it to him.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 2: You hung with it, Mr.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Henry.
- 1:19Speaker 3: You really sold it, Phil.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Harvey Wireman's going to be with us. Is Harvey.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Harvey's over at Ted's Beverly Hills, yeah. In fact, he
- 1:27Speaker 3: was having a dinner with Frank. Frank is home now,
- 1:32Speaker 3: and I think he's with his daughter.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Caroline.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So here's the thing, and... Mr.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Renner, I'm telling you.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Just hold on, bud. I got jury duty. I have
- 1:43Speaker 1: had jury duty. I've done two turns of jury duty
- 1:47Speaker 1: in Ventura County alone, and... I think some other places,
- 1:52Speaker 1: but you know, I've lived a long life, but all
- 1:55Speaker 1: of a sudden I moved back to LA County and
- 1:56Speaker 1: guess what? Hey, there's a new guy here. It's Phil Henry.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Let's call him for jury duty. And while they called
- 2:01Speaker 1: me in LA for jury duty, and this all happened
- 2:04Speaker 1: within the last two months, Ventura County called me again
- 2:06Speaker 1: for jury duty. And I said to them, I don't
- 2:10Speaker 1: live in Ventura County anymore. You know, And I told
- 2:14Speaker 1: you guys that I like jury duty.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Now, that was the thing. You said you felt very patriotic.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you said you liked seeing the different people. They
- 2:22Speaker 2: were dressed up in different clothing and stuff.
- 2:24Speaker 3: What do you mean dressed up in different clothing?
- 2:26Speaker 1: No, in other words, I saw a lot of people,
- 2:28Speaker 1: different ethnicities, different religions, different classes, workers. For me, it
- 2:36Speaker 1: was an illustration of the human race. and it was
- 2:41Speaker 1: great to see. And I saw how dedicated everybody was.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Look at all these people coming out and doing jury duty.
- 2:46Speaker 1: It's part of their civic duty.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, but you found out something different.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Well, hold on for a minute.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So then, you know, one of the things about being
- 2:55Speaker 1: registered to vote, and you should be registered to vote,
- 2:57Speaker 1: is you will get these jury duty pitches. That's where
- 3:00Speaker 1: they find you on the registration rolls. And I don't
- 3:03Speaker 1: mind jury duty. I love voting. I love being a citizen. But, God,
- 3:07Speaker 1: this coming up this next week, And what happened was L.A.
- 3:10Speaker 1: County sent me this summons, jury summons. I was able
- 3:13Speaker 1: to postpone it a couple times. Now here it's coming
- 3:16Speaker 1: up on me again. Well, what's the problem?
- 3:18Speaker 3: I mean, you've got jobs next week.
- 3:20Speaker 1: You know, if you've got a job that's two days
- 3:21Speaker 1: and then another job that's three days, and it doesn't,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I don't do an eight-hour-a-day job. They'll go, well, why
- 3:26Speaker 1: can't you do jury duty? Because this, two days of
- 3:29Speaker 1: work here, two days of work there, it's the kind
- 3:31Speaker 1: of intermittent feature to my work.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Well, and you haven't even filled the thing out.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Yeah, Mr.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Amin, you've got to fill out the thing. And everything.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Is that right? Well, I haven't filled out the thing,
- 3:42Speaker 1: but I'm going to call them tomorrow, and I'm just
- 3:44Speaker 1: going to throw myself on their mercy and say, you know, yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Throw your show, man. What do you think is going
- 3:49Speaker 3: to happen, Phil? I'm not going to.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Don't worry about it. I'll be able to get it postponed. Well,
- 3:53Speaker 1: that's why I got Harvey on the line. Harvey Weierman
- 3:56Speaker 1: joining us on the phone line here from, I don't
- 3:58Speaker 1: know where Harvey is at. Oh, he's at Ted's Beverly Hills.
- 4:01Speaker 2: That's right.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Harvey, how are you, brother? It's Phil Hendry.
- 4:04Speaker 4: How you doing, Phil? I got Caroline here. And Frank
- 4:08Speaker 4: Gray just left, Margaret.
- 4:12Speaker 1: So, look, Harvey, you're an attorney, and I'm here to
- 4:15Speaker 1: ask you some advice on jury duty.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Oh, Ted Bell. Hey, Ted. Hey, Phil, it's Ted Bell.
- 4:22Speaker 4: When are you coming back in for a steak?
- 4:25Speaker 1: You know what, Ted? Pretty soon, man. I'm missing out.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I know I am.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Yeah, get on into a steak. You know what you
- 4:30Speaker 4: need to do, Phil? You need to tear into a steak.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Just belly up. See that steak? Take the fork and
- 4:36Speaker 4: the knife and just, hey, hey, hey, rip into it.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Well, I'm vegan.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Oh, bullshit. Hey, Phil, you're really selling that, huh? I am.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I am vegan. I stay away from red meat. I
- 4:47Speaker 1: stay away from meat.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Okay?
- 4:48Speaker 4: You stay away from meat, huh? That's not what I heard.
- 4:50Speaker 4: I'm just joking around, Phil. Oh, yeah. I love how
- 4:55Speaker 4: people just pull the phone out of my hand. Sorry, but,
- 4:58Speaker 4: you know, that's dirty pool, Ted. Oh, my God. You're
- 5:02Speaker 4: saying the guy's a homosexual.
- 5:05Speaker 1: It's okay, Harvey. I mean, it's a joke.
- 5:08Speaker 2: You know.
- 5:10Speaker 4: It was just a joke, Phil.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I understand that.
- 5:13Speaker 4: You said, you know, you're not around meat that much.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I said, well, yeah, really? I haven't heard that. We
- 5:18Speaker 4: got it. So, Phil, what's going on with it? Hey,
- 5:22Speaker 4: you know, Ted, every time you get nervous these days,
- 5:25Speaker 4: your voice cracks. Get yourself a drink of water. You
- 5:28Speaker 4: know what I'm going to do? I'm going to get
- 5:30Speaker 4: myself a Ted. Is he off? Is he off what?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Is he off of work?
- 5:37Speaker 4: Yeah. Hey, Ted, are you on the clock? No, he's
- 5:42Speaker 4: off the clock.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Okay, so, Harvey, here's the deal. As I mentioned to
- 5:45Speaker 1: the pre-show audience, and I'll mention to you, I've gotten
- 5:47Speaker 1: another jury summons, this one from L.A.
- 5:49Speaker 4: County.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Now, just hear me out, okay?
- 5:52Speaker 4: You already did jury duty at Ventura.
- 5:54Speaker 1: That doesn't make any difference. I was in Ventura County.
- 5:56Speaker 1: That's where the El Pacifico was. Sold the studio and
- 6:01Speaker 1: the house and everything. Now we're over here in L.A. County,
- 6:05Speaker 1: and by God, they saw my name pop up on the,
- 6:08Speaker 1: whatever it is, on the voter rolls, and they decided, hey,
- 6:10Speaker 1: it's Phil Hendry.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Well, that's, as you mentioned, that's where they get the
- 6:14Speaker 4: names for jury duty. You were dumb enough to register
- 6:18Speaker 4: to vote.
- 6:19Speaker 1: You're kidding, right?
- 6:20Speaker 4: Yes, I'm kidding. But that's where, hold on for a minute, Carolyn.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I have a problem.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you. You want some of the spizz water here?
- 6:33Speaker 4: What is that? Is that ginger beer? So, Phil, when
- 6:36Speaker 4: are you supposed to report?
- 6:38Speaker 1: On Monday.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Okay, what are you going to do?
- 6:40Speaker 1: I'm going to call them tomorrow, and I'm going to say, hey,
- 6:42Speaker 1: you know what? And I didn't fill out the thing.
- 6:45Speaker 4: What thing? You mean the summons?
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they want you to fill all this stuff out.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Well, fill that out, and you're supposed to do it
- 6:53Speaker 4: on their website. They've got a website.
- 6:54Speaker 1: This thing they said they do, I don't want to
- 6:56Speaker 1: bore people with all the details, okay? The fact is that, yeah,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I've got to fill that out on the website, but
- 7:02Speaker 1: I did jury duty twice in Ventura County. Now, dig this.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I come back to L.A.
- 7:06Speaker 3: County.
- 7:07Speaker 1: They call me up or they hit me up for
- 7:09Speaker 1: jury duty in L.A. County now. And guess who else
- 7:12Speaker 1: called for jury duty?
- 7:13Speaker 4: Oh, I heard. Ventura County.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Okay, that's got to happen. You served on a jury
- 7:19Speaker 4: in Ventura County once before, right?
- 7:20Speaker 1: Well, I had jury service, yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Okay. So, obviously, they think you're a good, reliable guy,
- 7:27Speaker 4: so they... Yeah, I want you back in.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Well, I don't live in Ventura County anymore.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Did you call them up? What did you just say?
- 7:33Speaker 4: I don't live in Ventura County anymore?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Anymore.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Oh.
- 7:37Speaker 1: No, I did. I called them and they.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Did you get it canceled?
- 7:40Speaker 1: No, I postponed it until January.
- 7:42Speaker 4: What are you talking about, Henry? You don't live there anymore.
- 7:44Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about. That's what I think. You know, Mr. Weirman,
- 7:47Speaker 2: I think he's going to go to jail. I just do.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Hold on, will you? You don't know anything.
- 7:52Speaker 3: What do you mean he's going to jail?
- 7:54Speaker 2: I just do.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I just do.
- 7:55Speaker 4: You don't know anything about anything. Just shut up.
- 7:58Speaker 1: See, that's the kind of talk that makes me nervous, bud.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Stop it.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Well, you've got to do your duty, and you do
- 8:03Speaker 2: your duty as the best as you see how as
- 8:05Speaker 2: a citizen of America.
- 8:07Speaker 4: All right, Dickman, or should I call you Paul Revere?
- 8:10Speaker 4: What are you, all of a sudden giving a big picture?
- 8:12Speaker 4: Look at Dickman. Henry's done jury duty already.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Well, he's telling me I'll go to jail.
- 8:18Speaker 4: You will.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I looked it up and everything.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Will you just shut up? What are you trying to do,
- 8:22Speaker 3: make the guys nervous?
- 8:23Speaker 2: I'm just telling you, Mr. Henry, you have to do
- 8:25Speaker 2: what you've got to do to be a citizen of America. Really?
- 8:29Speaker 1: Well, I didn't even know.
- 8:30Speaker 2: That, Bud.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Well, Bud, he's not half wrong. See, here's the thing.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Well, what's he talking about?
- 8:35Speaker 4: Here it is. Jury duty, if you ignore a summons
- 8:38Speaker 4: or if you can't make the... You're not ignoring the summons.
- 8:41Speaker 4: You're just trying to get postponement. Yeah. So it's not
- 8:44Speaker 4: going to happen to you, I don't think. I mean,
- 8:46Speaker 4: I hope not.
- 8:47Speaker 1: How's it going to happen to me, man, if I'm
- 8:48Speaker 1: in contact with them and saying I can't make it?
- 8:51Speaker 4: Well, at some point they're going to say, well, guess what? Yes,
- 8:53Speaker 4: you can. And your career, your life, your money, your security,
- 8:58Speaker 4: you can take that, wad that up, and stick it
- 9:00Speaker 4: right up there at no point because it's the city,
- 9:02Speaker 4: it's the county of Los Angeles. They have to be official.
- 9:05Speaker 4: They can't be dirty. So they just point to their
- 9:07Speaker 4: rear end. What are you laughing at?
- 9:11Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
- 9:12Speaker 4: I'm just telling you. They'll say, take all of your concerns,
- 9:16Speaker 4: wad them up, and stick them, and they'll go, see
- 9:19Speaker 4: where we're pointing?
- 9:21Speaker 1: Because they can't say it officially because it's the county.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Oh, my God. Hey, Ted, you hear that?
- 9:26Speaker 2: I got it.
- 9:27Speaker 4: All right, thanks a lot. Here's the thing I don't
- 9:32Speaker 4: like about you, Harvey. You treat me like I'm your
- 9:35Speaker 4: yard bitch. You treat me like I'm your yard bitch. Ted,
- 9:41Speaker 4: can I get a freshen up here? Oh, yes, sir. Well,
- 9:45Speaker 4: it's a Ted.
- 9:45Speaker 1: You having yourself a drink?
- 9:48Speaker 4: You better believe it. So here's the thing, Phil, yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 4: It's a graduating situation. So in L.A. County, if you
- 9:57Speaker 4: ignore a summons or whatever the hell the problem is,
- 10:00Speaker 4: it starts out with a $ 1, 500 fine, and it goes
- 10:06Speaker 4: to $ 5, 000, and then it goes to $.
- 10:08Speaker 1: 5, 000.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and three days in jail.
- 10:11Speaker 4: You shut up, Dickman.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Hey, Dickman, shut up.
- 10:13Speaker 4: It's not three days in jail. It's five days in jail. See,
- 10:16Speaker 4: you missed that.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Oh, that makes me feel much, much better.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Oh, yes, right. I got that wrong.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yeah, isn't that nice?
- 10:23Speaker 4: Well, I mean, it is. $ 5, 000, five days in jail.
- 10:29Speaker 4: You know, you're going to walk into that jail and
- 10:30Speaker 4: some guy's going to look at you and go, I
- 10:32Speaker 4: love you. You know, Phil? Oh, sure. Oh, man. I'm
- 10:37Speaker 4: kidding around. You know that. You're Ted? And may I
- 10:40Speaker 4: join you? Of course. Hey, Phil, he's screwing around, okay?
- 10:45Speaker 4: Have you ever been to jail? Yes, I have. Oh,
- 10:47Speaker 4: my God. When did you go to jail?
- 10:49Speaker 1: When I was a kid, when I was 19. I
- 10:50Speaker 1: was drinking in public. I didn't know you could go
- 10:52Speaker 1: to jail. You could go to jail for being under
- 10:54Speaker 1: 21 for drinking.
- 10:56Speaker 4: I don't know. Oh, so they caught you drinking in public,
- 10:59Speaker 4: and you were what, 19?
- 10:59Speaker 2: I was 19.
- 11:01Speaker 4: But so you're old enough to go to jail, but
- 11:03Speaker 4: not old enough to drink. We hear this all the time, Bill.
- 11:06Speaker 4: It's very, very unfair. You know, I just... Did you
- 11:10Speaker 4: freshen this up again? God damn. He swallowed that... Watch
- 11:15Speaker 4: how you say swallow... So let me ask you a question.
- 11:19Speaker 1: That was when I was 19.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 11:21Speaker 4: So what was that, overnight?
- 11:24Speaker 1: It was overnight, and I actually called the Newport Beach
- 11:28Speaker 1: City Jail there, whatever the hell I called, because my
- 11:31Speaker 1: birthday was coming up, and I was going to have
- 11:33Speaker 1: a party, and I wanted to get the mug shot.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I bet you they purged it off.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yeah, they said they didn't have it anymore, that the
- 11:40Speaker 1: FBI had it in Washington. And I said, I don't
- 11:43Speaker 1: give a shit.
- 11:44Speaker 4: All right, so anyway, that was all a bunch of nothing.
- 11:48Speaker 1: No, I just, just as a side note, you know.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but you can't take these things lightly and talk
- 11:53Speaker 2: about it. I'm going to get my mug shot and
- 11:54Speaker 2: put up a party that disrespects the system. Hey, what
- 11:57Speaker 2: is you all of a sudden, man? What is you
- 12:00Speaker 2: all of a sudden?
- 12:00Speaker 4: Yeah, Phil, you kind of.
- 12:02Speaker 1: What are you doing, man, all of a sudden being Mr.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Big Shot here with the law?
- 12:06Speaker 2: I'm just telling you, man, you know, our living depends
- 12:10Speaker 2: upon you.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Well, he is right, Phil. You know, without you, we
- 12:13Speaker 3: have no job here.
- 12:14Speaker 4: All right.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Yeah. And you go to jail on account of you're
- 12:17Speaker 2: too lazy to fill out the jury summons? Yeah, right.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Hey, Dickman, okay. You did your duty. Shut up. So, uh.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Yeah, shut up.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Thanks a lot.
- 12:26Speaker 4: What's he crying?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Bud, take it easy.
- 12:29Speaker 4: So, yeah, you can go to jail for five, you know,
- 12:33Speaker 4: five days. Five days, Mr. Henry?
- 12:35Speaker 2: All I ask is you just think about it. Think
- 12:37Speaker 2: about it. You'll be in five days. You'll be crawling.
- 12:39Speaker 2: You'll be hanging off the bars, crawling on the walls.
- 12:43Speaker 2: You'll go insane.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Sure I will. Well, I mean, you're in jail there
- 12:48Speaker 4: for five days, Phil. These bunch of guys are going
- 12:50Speaker 4: to be looking at you and going, mm-hmm. Say, listen,
- 12:53Speaker 4: why don't you run and catch me a pack of cigarettes?
- 12:57Speaker 1: I don't think that city jail for five days is
- 12:59Speaker 1: going to be like that. And especially, I'm not exactly
- 13:03Speaker 1: the young punk type. But if you guys are trying
- 13:04Speaker 1: to freak me out and scare me, you're nuts. The
- 13:07Speaker 1: thing that's bothering me is the fact that I have
- 13:09Speaker 1: to take time out of my job to do this.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Oh, so that's it.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Now listen, you're talking about civic responsibility and being a
- 13:16Speaker 1: patriotic person.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Why would you not want to do jury duty?
- 13:19Speaker 1: I told you, Margaret, already, because I got other stuff.
- 13:22Speaker 1: The work's piling up next week.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Jesus, Phil.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Well, I mean, if that's what it is, that's what
- 13:28Speaker 4: the work's piling up, that's what's going to happen.
- 13:32Speaker 3: But look at how angry he got. I told you.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Well, that's right. Anyway, you know what? If I've got
- 13:37Speaker 1: to do jury duty, I don't care.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Yeah, look at that. He just said the S word.
- 13:40Speaker 1: That's right. Because I don't want to go to jail, bud,
- 13:43Speaker 1: because who knows, there might be some guy standing there going,
- 13:45Speaker 1: I love you.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, look at him taking it all lightly.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Don't take it lightly, Phil, okay? There's going to be
- 13:52Speaker 4: some guys on the yard there, and they'll be saying, hey,
- 13:55Speaker 4: tell you what, could you tie my shoe for me?
- 13:58Speaker 4: Next thing you know, you'll be bent over something else.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Bent over tying a shoe? They'll have you bent over.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Okay, thanks a lot, Harvey. Thank you for nothing.
- 14:07Speaker 4: All right, I just wanted you to know.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Jesus. So jury duty, huh?
- 14:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that's all I'm just.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Talking about it. We have a great featured archive today.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Look at you.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You're all nervous, worried about it. I'm not worried about it.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I'm just, you know, there's so much crap that I've
- 14:26Speaker 1: got to do. Do you realize what happened here over
- 14:28Speaker 1: the last 48 hours?
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yes, you were talking about it on the show. You
- 14:30Speaker 3: talked about it on the pre-show.
- 14:32Speaker 1: That's right. We had the studio was shut down here, folks,
- 14:35Speaker 1: because Southern California Edison needed to shut the power down
- 14:38Speaker 1: to the neighborhood because they don't want to get blamed
- 14:40Speaker 1: for another forest fire. So they were out, you know,
- 14:44Speaker 1: doing their equipment. The same thing happens up in Northern
- 14:46Speaker 1: California when PG & E got into trouble.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Garrett, one time PG & E did, I don't know,
- 14:51Speaker 2: What is PG & E?
- 14:52Speaker 1: Pacific Gas and Electric.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Anyway, so, you know, we had to get the shows
- 15:00Speaker 1: produced before the studio got shut down for 12 hours.
- 15:03Speaker 1: So I'm running in here, getting that stuff done. I
- 15:05Speaker 1: didn't want to hang here for 12 hours. So we
- 15:07Speaker 1: went off to the embassy suites.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Now, you were not all that happy with it.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Well, I'm not going to badmouth the embassy suites, okay?
- 15:15Speaker 1: But it's a pet-friendly hotel, but. I'm watching my kid.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I had the cat, Thunder the cat.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Right.
- 15:22Speaker 1: And all of a sudden, Thunder the cat comes walking
- 15:24Speaker 1: up to me with a box stuck to his fur
- 15:27Speaker 1: up under his head.
- 15:29Speaker 4: What?
- 15:30Speaker 2: A box stuck to the fur under his head?
- 15:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And it was a box that contained or was one
- 15:37Speaker 1: of those glue traps.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Oh, for mice and insects?
- 15:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Most inhumane goddamn trap there is. This thing's hanging off
- 15:46Speaker 1: of her fur. So I pulled that off of her,
- 15:49Speaker 1: and I said, let's get the fuck out of here, Thunder.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And she goes, okay. Did she? Yeah, that's right. She talks.
- 15:56Speaker 3: What are you, Dickman, trying to be funny?
- 15:57Speaker 4: All right, sorry.
- 15:59Speaker 1: So we got out of there. But before I left,
- 16:01Speaker 1: that's a good hotel, Embassy Suites, but, you know, pull
- 16:04Speaker 1: it together, you guys. So I told the guy, I said, here,
- 16:07Speaker 1: see this? Whoever put this up there needs to be fired.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And the kid at the desk is like, oh, my God. See,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I don't believe in ripping into employees. I believe in
- 16:17Speaker 1: ripping into the management or whoever the asshole is that
- 16:20Speaker 1: owns the company. Yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I like that too. Yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So I always tell people when I'm on the phone
- 16:26Speaker 1: with someone, if it's just a representative of the company,
- 16:29Speaker 1: if it's somebody just answering phones, I always tell them,
- 16:31Speaker 1: you're doing a great job. And what I'm saying has
- 16:34Speaker 1: nothing to do, it's no reflection on the work that
- 16:35Speaker 1: you're doing. And every time they ask for an appraisal,
- 16:38Speaker 1: I always say they get an A, A, A, A,
- 16:39Speaker 1: give them a really, really high marks in terms of
- 16:42Speaker 1: how they deal with me. But when it comes to
- 16:45Speaker 1: the goddamn company, I let them know that that's where
- 16:48Speaker 1: my complaint is.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Oh, so you believe that stuff about how all the
- 16:53Speaker 3: calls are recorded?
- 16:55Speaker 1: Yes, I do.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Why?
- 16:56Speaker 3: Because you think that's going to make it to the
- 16:59Speaker 3: brass in the company?
- 17:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Do you think they're lying to me?
- 17:06Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Who knows, Phil? They say all calls are recorded to
- 17:10Speaker 3: ensure quality. Yeah, sure.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Well, if that's true... That's where I lay my complaint.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I always say, you guys are doing a great job.
- 17:17Speaker 1: You guys answer the phone. My complaint is with your company,
- 17:20Speaker 1: and I think they're making your job doubly difficult with
- 17:23Speaker 1: all this crap. So I make sure that the person
- 17:26Speaker 1: I'm talking to on the phone knows I'm on their side.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I don't know, Phil. They're still going to blame the guy.
- 17:30Speaker 1: They're going to say, look at the lousy job you did.
- 17:33Speaker 1: This guy's talking about how crap our company is and telling.
- 17:35Speaker 3: You how great you are.
- 17:36Speaker 1: He's probably lying.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Get out of here. I'm not kidding.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Okay, bud, thanks.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Oh.
- 17:45Speaker 1: So anyway, and so that's, because I've, down through the years,
- 17:48Speaker 1: you know, dude, I got Hyatt this and Hilton that.
- 17:52Speaker 3: You got the honors number.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I got the honors this and I got
- 17:55Speaker 1: the Hyatt that and I got the Embassy Suites this
- 17:58Speaker 1: and every kind of honors number, every kind of discount,
- 18:02Speaker 1: you name it. I got it. Because I've, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I travel, especially this last two years was traveling back
- 18:09Speaker 1: and forth between Florida and here.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And so you stop being really impressed with the chicken
- 18:15Speaker 1: shit and you start looking and seeing how people are
- 18:17Speaker 1: actually doing their job. So that was that. So you
- 18:20Speaker 1: got the box off of Thunder and what? And then
- 18:24Speaker 1: Thunder looked at me and said, what are we doing?
- 18:26Speaker 1: What's the point of life? And I said, you got
- 18:28Speaker 1: that right.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Anyway, El Trafico is coming up here in LA. That's the,
- 18:36Speaker 1: you know, I'm an LAFC fan.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Phil loves the soccer. Do you watch football?
- 18:41Speaker 1: I don't watch American football anymore.
- 18:42Speaker 3: What the hell happened to you anyway? I don't know, man.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I just don't watch American football anymore. It bores the
- 18:48Speaker 1: hell out of me, and that's all I can tell you.
- 18:51Speaker 2: You watch soccer, though, on account of why? Because the
- 18:53Speaker 2: guys are running around in shorts?
- 18:55Speaker 1: That's why, bud.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:56Speaker 1: One more, and I'm going to belt you, okay?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. But El Trafico is coming up this weekend.
- 19:04Speaker 1: That's LAFC versus LA Galaxy.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Oh, El Trafico. Oh, I see. As in the traffic.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And anyway, I can't go to that. We had to
- 19:13Speaker 1: blow that up. So that's what I'm saying. It's like
- 19:15Speaker 1: the business is, everything is getting kind of piled up.
- 19:18Speaker 1: And you're going to go to jail if you miss
- 19:19Speaker 1: that jury summons. Let me tell you something, my friend. Look,
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm telling you, General. No, I'm telling you. You got
- 19:25Speaker 1: to answer that jury summons. Go sit on that jury
- 19:28Speaker 1: or whatever you got to do or sit on your ass.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Because you know the likelihood of you being picked for
- 19:33Speaker 1: a jury is slim to none.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Well, you know, what happened in Ventura County? I didn't
- 19:38Speaker 1: get picked for a jury.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Okay.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I just sat around in the room for about, I
- 19:41Speaker 1: don't know, 40 minutes.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yeah. So answer that summons. Where's he got to go?
- 19:46Speaker 1: I got to go to Santa Monica. Good luck. Yeah.
- 19:49Speaker 4: All right.
- 19:50Speaker 1: What's with you, bud?
- 19:51Speaker 2: Knock it off.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Santa Monica Courthouse on Monday. I'm going to call
- 19:55Speaker 1: him tomorrow. I'm going to get out of this thing. Me,
- 19:58Speaker 1: Phil Hendry, I'm getting out of jury duty.
- 20:02Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Yeah, Mr.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Hendry.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Knock it off, bud.
- 20:06Speaker 2: World-famous Phil Hendry Show is executive produced by Mr. Hendry
- 20:09Speaker 2: for Siempre Incorporated, All Rights Reserved, iHeart Podcast.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Good luck, Mr.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Henry.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Mr.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Henry's going inside. Yeah.
