- 0:05Speaker 1: Time wants again to catch up with Country Weekly, where
- 0:08we dive in to news and gossip from the world
- 0:11of country music. I'm your host, Ken Dawkins, and I'll
- 0:15be reading from various.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Sources found online.
- 0:18Speaker 1: As a reminder, RADIOI is a reading service intended for
- 0:21people who are blind or have other disabilities that make
- 0:24it difficult to read printed material. We'll become with the
- 0:27first article dated May fourth, and this is from countrynow
- 0:32dot com. Dolly Parton gives health update. I have some
- 0:36good news and a little bad news. Dolly Partner is
- 0:40staying honest with fans as she shares an update on
- 0:42both her physical and mental health and reveals the status
- 0:46of her postponed Las Vegas shows set to run in September.
- 0:51The Country Music Icon shared the update in a video message,
- 0:54explaining how she's doing and why she'll need some time
- 0:56to recover before getting back on stage. First, it's concerning
- 1:01my health and I have some good news and a
- 1:02little bad news, Parton began. The good news is I'm
- 1:05responding really well to meds and treatment, and I'm improving
- 1:09every day. Now. The bad news is it's going to
- 1:11take me a little while before I'm up to stage
- 1:14performance level because some of the meds and treatments make
- 1:17me a little bit swimmy headed, as my grandma used
- 1:20to say. And of course it can't be easy carrying
- 1:23around banjos, guitars and such on five inch heels, and
- 1:27you know that I'm going to be wearing them. So
- 1:29not to mention all these heavy rhinestone outfits, the big hair,
- 1:32my big well you know personality. Lord knows those would
- 1:36make anybody swimmy headed. Parton then told fans to think
- 1:40of her as an old classic car that just needs
- 1:42to be restored a bit and then will be better
- 1:44than ever. When they raise the hood on this old antique.
- 1:48They realized that I need to rebuild my engine, and
- 1:51my transmission is slipping, my oil pen is leaky, and
- 1:54my muffler's busted. My shocks and pistons need to be replaced,
- 1:58and for sure, my spark plowugs need to be changed,
- 2:00because you know as well as I know that I
- 2:02can't lose my spark, she joked, keeping the mood lighthearted.
- 2:06To translate what the nine to five singer was trying
- 2:09to say. She's still dealing with some ongoing problems with
- 2:11kidney stones, as well as her immune and digestive system,
- 2:15noting they all got out of whack over the past
- 2:17couple of years. They're working real hard on rebuilding and
- 2:21strengthening those, she says, and hopefully I'll be up to
- 2:23snuff again soon. As she continues to work on her
- 2:27physical health, Partner sured fans that her mental health is
- 2:29still going strong and she's continuing to work throughout this
- 2:33time by making videos, recording, and making trips to Dollywood.
- 2:37On top of all that, she's preparing for the opening
- 2:39of her museum and hotel in Nashville later this year,
- 2:42as well as reworking her Broadway musical Dolly, a true
- 2:45original musical. Additionally, Parton was scheduled to head to Caesar's
- 2:51Palace in Las Vegas this September for a six show
- 2:53run that was previously postponed from December of last year. Unfortunately,
- 2:58today's message I'm her apologizing for having to miss those
- 3:02upcoming shows as well as she continues to heal. All
- 3:06of the September shows have officially been canceled, according to
- 3:09the official ticket Master website. On a more serious note,
- 3:12I'm truly sorry that I'm going to miss all of
- 3:14you that had tickets to see me in Vegas. Hopefully
- 3:17sometime you'll come up to New York and maybe see
- 3:19my show, and I'll see you somewhere down the line,
- 3:22Parton said with hope in her voice. To conclude her video,
- 3:25the Tennessee native expressed the utmost gratitude for her all
- 3:28the kind and supportive messages she has received. She joked
- 3:32that she used to tell her late husband that while
- 3:34she may not be getting any younger, she's grateful for
- 3:36the efforts of plastic surgeons to help keep her looking
- 3:40young on the outside. Still, she emphasized that she takes
- 3:44her internal health very seriously and is hopeful she'll continue
- 3:47to improve. I have great doctors, and I'm doing really well,
- 3:50and they assure me that everything I have is treatable.
- 3:53So I'm going with that, and I just want you
- 3:55to know I thank you for standing by me and
- 3:57that I will always love you.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Thank you. Pardon concluded.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Next, Kelly Pickler makes emotional return to American Idol stage
- 4:06for the first public appearance in two years. Kelly Pickler
- 4:11made a triumphant return to the stage on American Idol
- 4:13on Monday, performing alongside finalist Hannah Harper and marking the
- 4:17first public appearance in over two years. Pickler's appearance came
- 4:22during a special twentieth High School Reunion themed episode, which
- 4:25brought back several contestants from the class of two thousand
- 4:28and six, including Pickler, Bucky Covington, Taylor Hicks, Paris Bennett,
- 4:33and Elliott Yamine. The moment carried extra meaning as Pickler
- 4:37joined Harper for a performance of a Broken Wing, the
- 4:40Saint Martina McBride's song she sang during her American Idol
- 4:44audition two decades ago. At just nineteen years old, Pickler
- 4:48went on to advance in the competition, winning over viewers
- 4:51with her sweet Southern Charm and ultimately placing sixth. She
- 4:55released her debut album, Smalltown Girl later that year on
- 4:58October thirty first. The project was anchored by her breakout
- 5:02single Red High Heels, and also featured fan favorites like
- 5:05Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind and the deeply
- 5:08personal I Wonder, which reflected on her tumultuous childhood and
- 5:12her absent relationship with her mother. She also scored a
- 5:15major success with her platinum certified single Best Days of
- 5:18Your Life from her self titled sophomore album. Later, she
- 5:22released two additional albums, One hundred Proof in twenty twelve
- 5:26and The Woman I Am in twenty thirteen. In May
- 5:30of that year, Pickler and her partner Derek Hoe Derek
- 5:33Howet took home the Mirror Ball Trophy winning Season sixteen
- 5:36of Dancing with the Stars. She was later inducted into
- 5:40the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. From twenty seventeen
- 5:44to nineteen, Pickler co hosted the nationally syndicated talk show
- 5:47Pickler and Man, which earned five Emmy nominations. She's also
- 5:51expanded into acting, appearing in a variety of films and
- 5:54TV shows, including Christmas at Graceland, The Mistletoe Secret, nine
- 5:59O two, one, Oh, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, and
- 6:02Wedding at Graceland. Kelly Pickler's larger stayed out of the
- 6:06public eye in recent years. Her last public appearance came
- 6:09in April twenty four, when she stepped on to the
- 6:11stage at the Rieman Auditorium for a tribute performance honoring
- 6:14Patsy Klein. The moment marked her first appearance since the
- 6:18passing of her husband, songwriter Kyle Jacobs, who died at
- 6:21the couple's Nashville home back on February seventeenth, twenty twenty three.
- 6:26Monday Night's episode also featured original Idol judges Paula Abdull
- 6:30and Randy Jackson appearing as guest judge and guest mentor, respectively,
- 6:35dancing with the Stars prose, adding a touch of ballroom
- 6:38flare to the celebration. While America voted live to narrow
- 6:42the Top five down to the top three. The American
- 6:46Idol Grand Finale set for May eleventh, when the remaining
- 6:48finalists will take the stage one last time to earn
- 6:51America's votes. Alicia Keys will serve as guest mentor and perform,
- 6:55with additional music legends set to be announced soon going along,
- 7:00Kane Brown hints at releasing interpolation of Shania twain hit
- 7:05this summer. Kane Brown is revealed he may be releasing
- 7:09his take on a country music classic this summer. During
- 7:12interview at the iHeart Country Festival twenty twenty six, the
- 7:16country superstar was asked, if you could release any cover song,
- 7:19what would it be. After taking a moment to think
- 7:22about his answer, Brown landed on Shania Twain's hit from
- 7:25nineteen ninety five, but instead of just naming a dream pick,
- 7:29he hinted that this version could actually be recorded and
- 7:32released as soon as this summer. So I got a
- 7:35song sent to me and it was I guess an
- 7:37interpolation is what you call it, But it was of
- 7:40whose Bed Have Your Bootsman Under? And it's fire And
- 7:43I thought about cutting it and releasing it for this summer,
- 7:46So we'll see. Pretty cool though, it's not surprising that
- 7:49Brown would be interested in tapping into a classic from
- 7:52Twain's catalog, because he's made it very clear over the
- 7:55years that he is a big fan and has made
- 7:58multiple claims that he's interested in team up for a
- 8:00duet with her. Back in twenty twenty, told ET Canada
- 8:05that the man I Feel Like a Woman's Singer is
- 8:07a dream collaboration of his. Around that time, had he
- 8:10had been branching outside of country music to cut music
- 8:13with artists like Marshmallow, John Legend, Swight Lee and Moore,
- 8:17but the country icon still remained in the back of
- 8:19his mind. I think I'm going to have to go
- 8:22for like a Shania Twain, you know, because we've done
- 8:24so many pop collabs recently. I think I want some
- 8:26country collabs to complete this mixtape, Brown shared. Brown's dream
- 8:32seemed to be close to becoming a reality at his interview,
- 8:34as it caught Twain's attention Shortly after he made the statement,
- 8:38let's do it, she responded on X. Few years later,
- 8:42in twenty twenty three, the Woman's singer once again brought
- 8:44Twain's name into the conversation, this time crediting her for
- 8:48being a female act who influenced him. My mom was
- 8:51a huge fan of hers, so I've grown up listening
- 8:53to all her music, and I actually met her one
- 8:55time and I talked about doing a song with her,
- 8:57he recalled, according to one oh four point nine Max Country,
- 9:02So it'd be cool if we could do it.
- 9:04Speaker 2: But yeah, she.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Influenced me the most as a female. Unfortunately, fans have
- 9:08still yet to see the two get in the studio together.
- 9:12The two artists will, however, be in the same place
- 9:14at the same time in about two weeks at the
- 9:17sixty first ACM Awards. Shania Twain will be hosting the show,
- 9:20taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. That's in Vegas,
- 9:24of course, on Sunday, May seventeenth, well, Brown will take
- 9:27the stage to perform. The star studed night will stream
- 9:31live exclusively for a global audience across two hundred and
- 9:34forty countries and territories on Prime Video at eight pm
- 9:38Eastern seven pm Central. Along with the award show, Caane
- 9:42Brown has plenty of shows and festival appearances on the
- 9:45books for twenty six A complete list of dates, of course,
- 9:48can be found on his official website. Next, Ashley Cook
- 9:53announces self titled sophomore album. Ashley Cook has been teasing
- 9:58fans that something big is on the way and the news.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Is finally here.
- 10:02Speaker 1: She has announced that her self titled sophomore album is
- 10:05dropping August fourteenth via Big Loud Records. The album was
- 10:09brought to life alongside some of Nashville's most esteemed writers,
- 10:12with Cook co penning the tracks with Liz Rose, Laurie McKenna,
- 10:16and Ashley Gorley, while working in the studio with producer
- 10:19Dan Huff and top tier musicians like guitarist Ilya Tishinski.
- 10:24Throughout the project, She's expected to highlight her raw, unfiltered
- 10:27storytelling alongside a breezy, coastal country sound that nods to
- 10:31her Florida roots. Cook has been slowly leaning into baby
- 10:36blue collar palette and relaxed denim esthetic in every aspect
- 10:39of her career as she continues the story she began
- 10:42with twenty twenty five 's Ace. While that project introduced
- 10:46listeners to a more vulnerable side of Cook, this new
- 10:49album finds her opening up even more, capturing her growth
- 10:52and confidence and the truth behind all her good and
- 10:55bad days. Reflecting on the upcoming project, Cook shares the
- 10:58heart behind the stories and explains just how personal this
- 11:02chapter really is. This record feels like a coming of
- 11:05age record disguised as a relationship album. I wrote a
- 11:08lot of it dead in the middle of real life
- 11:11situations where I learned quite a bit about myself, So
- 11:14you're getting the real, unpolished, recently realized truths in fifteen tracks,
- 11:18shares Cook. It's messy, self reflective and decisive, filled with honesty,
- 11:23double entendres, and emotional duality. I'm a Gemini, duh. Overall,
- 11:28it's my perception of love and all the chaos that
- 11:31that entails. Just a few days before sharing this exciting
- 11:35new chapter, the songstress gave fans a preview of what's
- 11:38to come with the premiere of a new song High
- 11:40School Sweetheart, set to officially drop this Friday. This will
- 11:45mark the fifth track to arrive in advance of the
- 11:47full length project, following her number one on Sirius XM,
- 11:51The Highway's Hot thirty Countdown, Baby Blues and Then Excuses
- 11:54the Chart, Climbing the Hell You Are, and X's. The
- 11:58remaining titles on the fifteen song track have yet to
- 12:01be revealed. She's also been teasing the rollout across social media,
- 12:05and eagle eyed fans quickly picking up on some of
- 12:08the clues. Adding to the Buzzcook even shared a phone
- 12:11number for fans to call for a special preview of
- 12:14High School Sweetheart, which later popped up again in a
- 12:17cryptic Nashville billboard. As exciting continues, or excitement continues to
- 12:22grow around her self titled album, Ashley Cook is gearing
- 12:26up for a big few weeks ahead. First, she's set
- 12:28to co host and perform at the ACM Next Wave
- 12:31Country's Beach Bash, part of the ACM Awards Week, taking
- 12:34place May sixteenth at Mandalay Bay Beach in Las Vegas.
- 12:38The lineup also includes Flatland's Cavalry, Tucker Wetmore, Braxton Keith
- 12:43and Moore. Looking ahead to the summer, Cook will also
- 12:46hit the stage at festivals including hoof Beat on June
- 12:49twenty seventh and Cadot Wisconsin. Even more tour dates and
- 12:52appearances will be announced soon next Parker McCollum returns home
- 12:58to Texas for surprise visit with nurses as part of
- 13:01Healthcare Heroes Initiative. Parker McCollum returned to his hometown this
- 13:06weekend to deliver a very special surprise to the nurses
- 13:09at Memorial Herman the Woodlands in Shenandoah, Texas as part
- 13:14of the Healthcare Heroes Initiative. The unexpected visit was organized
- 13:18through the Healthcare Heroes Initiative, a national effort founded by
- 13:23Create amer with the goal of recognizing the hard work
- 13:26of nurses through appreciation events and community partnerships. A routine
- 13:31staff meeting took on emotional turn when Parker unexpectedly entered
- 13:35the room, catching the nurses off guard. During his visit,
- 13:39the country superstar took the time to speak with local
- 13:41frontline healthcare workers, snap a few photos, and thank them
- 13:45for all they do in the community. This community is
- 13:49home to me and those nurses are a big part
- 13:51of what holds it together. McCollum explained, being here to
- 13:54give back, even in a small way, means a lot.
- 13:58He continued, What these nurses do every single day, It's
- 14:01not easy and it doesn't always get recognized. I'm just
- 14:03grateful I had the chance to come by and thank
- 14:05them for what they do. The nurses didn't just get
- 14:09to meet and interact with McCollum. The initiative also provided
- 14:12five hundred nurses with a pair of Create Armor scrubs,
- 14:15extending the impact well beyond those in attendance for the
- 14:18hospital visit itself. This is about showing up for those
- 14:22who show up for all of us, said Matthew Volkovich,
- 14:25founder and CEO of Create a More. Nurses give everything
- 14:28every single day, and they deserve to be seen, valued
- 14:31and supported. This is just the beginning of what we're
- 14:34building nationally. Nurses who were there said the incredible gift,
- 14:37along with McCollum's kindness, was completely unexpected, but really special.
- 14:42As moments like that don't come around very often. We
- 14:45don't expect moments like this, the nurse said, so when
- 14:47something like this happens, it truly means everything. We're incredibly
- 14:51grateful Parker took the time to make the day so
- 14:54special for nurses here in Montgomery County. Support from wood
- 14:59Forest National help make the event possible. We're honored to
- 15:02support an initiative that recognizes the incredible dedication of our
- 15:06healthcare professionals, said Julie Myrat of wood Forest National Bank.
- 15:11These nurses serve our communities every day, and we're proud
- 15:14to play a small role in giving back to.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Them in a meaningful way.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Members of the hospital leadership highlighted how important it is
- 15:21to recognize healthcare workers in ways that feel genuine and
- 15:24meaningful because, as John Voight, Chief Nursing Officer Memorial Herman
- 15:29the Woodlands noted that the nurses continue to show extraordinary compassion,
- 15:33strength and commitment every single day. Moments like this remind
- 15:37them how valued they truly are, not just within our organization,
- 15:41but in the broader community. The Healthcare Heroes Initiative is
- 15:45even more surprise events planned at hospitals across the country
- 15:48in an effort to continue showing appreciation for the critical
- 15:51role nurses play in patient care. Now we move over
- 15:55to Yahoo Entertainment Variety dot Com post Malone Cancel's first
- 16:00few weeks of big Ass stadium shows with Jelly Roll.
- 16:05Post Malone's Big Ass Stadium Tour Part two just got smaller,
- 16:09the artist took to social media Friday night to announce
- 16:12that he was canceling the first few weeks of his
- 16:14outing in stadiums with Jelly Roll, saying that he wants
- 16:18to get his forthcoming album finished before hitting the road
- 16:20in earnest. The cancelation effects the first six regularly scheduled
- 16:25dates on the Live Nation produced joint tour, the first
- 16:28of which was to have been May thirteenth at El
- 16:31Paso's sun Bowl Stadium on through a next show scheduled
- 16:34for June fifth and Oxford, Mississippi. The other Scotch dates
- 16:39would have taken place in between its stadiums in Waco, Baton, Rouge, Birmingham,
- 16:44and Tampa, not counting three festival dates that the Star
- 16:47plans to fulfill in the interim. The proper tour with
- 16:50Malone and Roll will now kick off on June ninth
- 16:53in Charlotte. Looking at the upcoming schedule after stagecoach, Malone wrote,
- 16:58fans I came to the realization that what we're trying
- 17:01to do and what's possible isn't really lining up. The
- 17:04truth is, I promised you all beautiful people new music,
- 17:07and I don't have the time to finish it before
- 17:09the tour starts. We ain't ready for the tour just yet,
- 17:13so I'm making the decision to push the tour back
- 17:15about three weeks to get the music done. Malone has
- 17:19been touting a forty track album on the way, to
- 17:22be titled The Eternal Buzz. No release date has been announced,
- 17:25nor have any other details beyond the title. Some industry
- 17:29sources have suggested the album was already in the can,
- 17:32but Malone's announcement indicates it still has a way to
- 17:34go to the finish line. That being said, Malone's announcement continued,
- 17:39I'm so sorry to the folks who were planning on
- 17:41coming to the few canceled shows. I was looking forward
- 17:44to going nuts with you all. That being said, We're
- 17:47making some badass stuff for this double album and I
- 17:50can't wait to perform for you all again. The pushing
- 17:53back of the start of a tour comes on the
- 17:55heels of widespread reports that ticket sales have been saw
- 17:59for many dates on the tour, in contrast to last
- 18:02summer's initial Big Ass Stadium Tour by Malone and Jelly Roll,
- 18:06which sold out every date and grows the reported one
- 18:09hundred and seventy million dollars. The dispararry between last year's
- 18:13sales and this year's was the subject of a laugh
- 18:16Set's Report newsletter that went out to the Music Industry
- 18:19Reader shortly before Malone made that announcement. Neither Malone nor
- 18:24Jelly Roll has had an album out since twenty twenty four.
- 18:27The thinking may be that if Malone can get the
- 18:29Eternal buzz and or a hit single into the marketplace
- 18:32sooner rather than later, it could goose ticket sales for
- 18:35the remaining dates in the same way the popularity of
- 18:38the F one trillion a year ago undoubtedly spurred a
- 18:42rush on the sold out twenty twenty five tour. Industry
- 18:46observers have engaged in debate about why this year's tour
- 18:48is so far not seemed as hot as the red
- 18:51hot outing last summer. Most of this year's shows are
- 18:54not in the same cities as last year, so in
- 18:56most instances it isn't a case of revisiting the same
- 18:59market or too soon. Some have put it down to
- 19:02speculation or confusion over whether Malone will emphasize his country
- 19:06side or his hip hop rock side on the tour
- 19:09and in the comments, it's not hard to find fans
- 19:12who are hoping the concerts will veer more one way
- 19:14or the other, although again this did not seem to
- 19:17be a hindrance back in twenty twenty five. Malone may
- 19:21be aware of the guessing game going on about whether
- 19:23the forthcoming album and tour will lean one musical direction
- 19:26or another. He's indicated The Eternal Buzz will have its
- 19:29forty songs divided up into a two part format spread
- 19:33evenly across two CDs in the physical realm, leaving some
- 19:37to wonder if he might be planning to divide it
- 19:39up among genres as opposed to the strict country focus
- 19:42of F one trillion. The rapper turned rocker turned country
- 19:47star may have hinted at a resolution that could mark
- 19:50at least a partial return to his roots with a
- 19:53slightly cryptic comment tagged on to the end of Friday
- 19:55social media post and to a lot of little stinkers
- 19:59that I've forgotten about old Stoney, I haven't, he wrote.
- 20:02Stony was the title of his debut album, I Love
- 20:05You and can't wait to see you crazy people soon.
- 20:08Malone's nixing six stadium shows is actually on the less
- 20:11severe side of a recent rash of tour cancelations, just
- 20:14about all of which have been officially ascribed to personal
- 20:17circumstances and not headwinds in the occurrent economy. Earlier Friday,
- 20:22Zane canceled his entire US arena tour, although he's going
- 20:25on with the overseas portion, citing unspecified health issues. And
- 20:30mid April, Megan Trainer also called off her entire arena tour,
- 20:34citing a desire to spend time with her young children.
- 20:38We moved down the road now to pen Livepatriotnews dot Com,
- 20:42dated May second, Major country music star doesn't miss the
- 20:46beat after firing popular band members. Zach Topp wasted little
- 20:51time moving on after firing popular backing band members Cheyenne
- 20:55Dalton Meyer and her husband Jimmy Meyer. Just days after
- 20:59Shy shared the news, Top took the stage on Friday
- 21:03with the New Faces in Fold. Norbert mcgedigan made his
- 21:06debut as the bass player in the band, and Ryan
- 21:09Joseph made his first appearance as the fiddle and mandolin player.
- 21:12According to Saving Country Music. Top, one of the brightest
- 21:16young stars in country music, made headlines last week when Cheyenne,
- 21:20a popular rhythm guitarist and harmony singer, shared the news
- 21:23that she'd been let go. Let's talk about it, she
- 21:26wrote on Instagram. A little over a month ago, I
- 21:28was let go from my position with ZT Well. This
- 21:31was unexpected. I want to thank you all for following
- 21:33along with me and all my adventures. I'll miss all
- 21:36of the fun, playing great music and meeting everyone. Meyer continued,
- 21:41I couldn't have done this without all of your kindness
- 21:43and encouragement. You built up my confidence. I have transformed
- 21:46into where I am today because of you. I'm back
- 21:49home in Missouri now, and although I'm not sure what
- 21:51comes next, I'll still be here posting my daily life.
