- 0:08Speaker 1: Scrible advice. Shoot. Hello, well, welcome to the Naughty but
- 0:15Speaker 1: Nice Show. It's Thursday. I'm Rob Shooter. I forgot to
- 0:18Speaker 1: introduce myself. Hey, we've been doing this for so long
- 0:22Speaker 1: week each other by now. I hope we do if
- 0:24Speaker 1: we don't, I am Rob Shooter. Although actually today I
- 0:27Speaker 1: really should introduce myself because I was on Elvis d
- 0:31Speaker 1: Ran yesterday and Elvis plugged the podcast. He's so kind
- 0:36Speaker 1: to me. He's like my fairy godmother. He would not
- 0:39Speaker 1: mind me calling him that, and so he plugged the
- 0:42Speaker 1: podcast and we had hundreds of thousands of of new listeners.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So thank you, thank you. Welcome to the Naughty but
- 0:48Speaker 1: Night Show. I'm Rob Shooter, and you really picked the
- 0:51Speaker 1: right day to tune in because our dear friend Mark
- 0:54Speaker 1: Lupo joins us every Thursday. Hey, Lupi are you there?
- 0:58Speaker 1: That's right, every Thursday, Lupi lewis Loupy lou Elvis was
- 1:02Speaker 1: nothing but lovely yesterday. You know him well, Mark too,
- 1:05Speaker 1: don't you. He's a good guy. Elvis is the absolute best,
- 1:07Speaker 1: and genuinely he's a sweetheart. He really is. That's the
- 1:10Speaker 1: right word. He's a sweetheart. I don't know if he
- 1:12Speaker 1: knows how powerful he is. Maybe he does. I've been
- 1:16Speaker 1: out with him and when he can't get a drink
- 1:17Speaker 1: at a bar, then you know. Then you know who's powerful.
- 1:21Speaker 1: But I love you, I love you. Welcome to the show, everybody,
- 1:24Speaker 1: let's jump in. We have twenty minutes of celebrity gossip.
- 1:27Speaker 1: What time is it? My friends? It is sing along?
- 1:32Speaker 1: Thank you. We like audience participation on the show. It's
- 1:37Speaker 1: it's like a game show. So we were going to
- 1:39Speaker 1: start the show with this story about Kirstie Allen. But
- 1:44Speaker 1: at three am, Megan and Harry's documentary series it's really
- 1:50Speaker 1: a reality show. It dropped marks. So I got up
- 1:53Speaker 1: at two thirties. My alar I got up at two
- 1:56Speaker 1: thirty Darby, my puppy is exhausted. He's here in these
- 2:00Speaker 1: British accents, and I watched the whole thing and I'm
- 2:02Speaker 1: gonna take you through the first three episodes. Not many
- 2:05Speaker 1: spoiler alerts here, so don't worry. You can still watch it.
- 2:08Speaker 1: But if you want to just get ahead of everybody
- 2:10Speaker 1: and have like a summary of what happened, we're here
- 2:12Speaker 1: for that. First of all, market started with a blank screen,
- 2:15Speaker 1: just black, and it said It was a disclaimer. It
- 2:20Speaker 1: said members of the Royal family declined to comment on
- 2:24Speaker 1: the content of this series. Oh wow, I thought this
- 2:29Speaker 1: is going to be good. This is and then what
- 2:32Speaker 1: followed was a very sweet, whimsical, sorts of gushy three hours.
- 2:40Speaker 1: It was very much about the romance, about dating, about
- 2:44Speaker 1: falling in love. I loved it, but the coming attraction.
- 2:48Speaker 1: The trailer showed us crying and drama that must be
- 2:53Speaker 1: in the next three episodes, because it wasn't really in
- 2:56Speaker 1: the first three. In fact, the first three show the
- 3:00Speaker 1: Royal smiling and laughing. They were gushing over their new romance,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and they were really initially welcomed into Harry's family. So
- 3:08Speaker 1: the tears are going to come, they are going to come.
- 3:10Speaker 1: But it started really, really sweet. It started with this
- 3:13Speaker 1: very odd clip from two thousand and fifteen where a
- 3:17Speaker 1: producer asks Megan who would she pick out of Harry
- 3:22Speaker 1: or William. I know there's an old interview where she
- 3:26Speaker 1: was asked. Thankfully, she picked Harry. Then we're off to
- 3:31Speaker 1: the races. Then we go right back to the beginning
- 3:35Speaker 1: and Megan and Harry first met on Instagram. Isn't that Instagram? Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: he saw a picture of her on Instagram, but it
- 3:43Speaker 1: had a filter on giving her doggy ear, so she
- 3:47Speaker 1: looked like a puppy. So it's really really sweet. And
- 3:51Speaker 1: then she said she calls him has h a z.
- 3:55Speaker 1: She said that a friend set her up with Prince
- 3:57Speaker 1: Has and she was like, and this is where Megan
- 4:00Speaker 1: gets herself in trouble. She was like, who is that.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You've just told us that in two you picked him,
- 4:08Speaker 1: so you know, so that was a little bit. I
- 4:09Speaker 1: was like, oh, dear, that's a bit of a bump.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Then they got into their first meeting and Harry was
- 4:15Speaker 1: late late, which I think is very rude, but I
- 4:19Speaker 1: would wait for a prince. He said. He was panicking
- 4:21Speaker 1: and freaking down. He started to sweat. Then we cut
- 4:24Speaker 1: to their third date, Botswana. Your third date, No wonder,
- 4:32Speaker 1: this is a this is a fairy tale romance. It
- 4:34Speaker 1: reminded me almost of The Bachelor and the Bachelorette. Get
- 4:37Speaker 1: this though. Megan's mummy speaks out for the first time too.
- 4:41Speaker 1: She's in the first couple of episodes and she said,
- 4:44Speaker 1: quote he was the one, and she warmly recalls meeting him,
- 4:49Speaker 1: saying he was a very handsome man with red hair.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And she said he had great manners. I bet he's
- 4:55Speaker 1: a great first introduction to your parents. If you took
- 4:57Speaker 1: carry home to meet Doris, Mark, yeah, I think should
- 5:01Speaker 1: have a very good impression. I think either William or
- 5:03Speaker 1: Harry they're both very like, respectful and kind men. I
- 5:06Speaker 1: get that. Yeah, and their polite, aren't they? Are you
- 5:09Speaker 1: good with parents? Mark? If I brought you home to
- 5:12Speaker 1: see Mrs Shooter, would you be all polite and not? Yes?
- 5:15Speaker 1: So point I think your mom would actually really like me,
- 5:19Speaker 1: parents would like you. I'm a little bit unpredictable in
- 5:23Speaker 1: front of parents and would go either way. So moving
- 5:26Speaker 1: along though, Megan admitted that their engagement was a quote
- 5:30Speaker 1: orchestrated reality shows. If you remember they did that big
- 5:33Speaker 1: interview with the BBC in two thousand and seventy and
- 5:38Speaker 1: she said, quote, it was all rehearsed and we weren't
- 5:41Speaker 1: allowed to tell our story because they didn't want it.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And then Harry jumped in and said they never allow
- 5:48Speaker 1: us to tell us story. I don't think I'm totally
- 5:51Speaker 1: buying this. If you're going to do a big sit
- 5:53Speaker 1: down interview, it doesn't matter if you're a reality star
- 5:57Speaker 1: or you're Julia Roberts. You practice before people on national television,
- 6:02Speaker 1: even the talk shows Mark there's something called a pre interview,
- 6:06Speaker 1: and celebrities do these pre interviews with a producer basically
- 6:09Speaker 1: to practice, to practice what's going to be said. So
- 6:13Speaker 1: the engagement of Princess Dianason, they would be foolish if
- 6:17Speaker 1: they hadn't of practice. And I would argue here it
- 6:20Speaker 1: would be malpractice for the Palace to throw the two
- 6:23Speaker 1: of them into an interview that could be seen by
- 6:25Speaker 1: a hundred million people maybe more, and not practice. So
- 6:28Speaker 1: I don't quite buy that. Where are you? I feel
- 6:31Speaker 1: the same way. You know, ever worked in many talk
- 6:33Speaker 1: shows and takuseries and everything is very much planned out.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I mean there are surprises as on the way as
- 6:39Speaker 1: you're you're speaking, but you have in general sense of
- 6:42Speaker 1: what you're gonna be talking about and how sense? Yeah,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and you want to practice, like you know, we say
- 6:47Speaker 1: this all the time. On this Madonna, fifty years into
- 6:50Speaker 1: her career, does a dress rehearsal, she goes into a
- 6:52Speaker 1: sound check, and so fifty years in a career, if
- 6:55Speaker 1: she does that, Harry Megan, this is a big announcement.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I want to know where the sofa is the light's
- 7:01Speaker 1: going to go up, is the camera's going to be
- 7:03Speaker 1: turned on? Are we walking in or are we going
- 7:05Speaker 1: to be sitting on the sofa? I would rather be
- 7:08Speaker 1: seated because you know, my balance isn't good, so I
- 7:10Speaker 1: could fall over. I'd look drunk. So I'd want to
- 7:12Speaker 1: know all that stuff. And so they practiced this. She
- 7:15Speaker 1: said that she thought that made it a reality show. No,
- 7:18Speaker 1: I think that made it professional. But moving along, given
- 7:21Speaker 1: giving them the benefit of the doubts. Here we get
- 7:23Speaker 1: to see engagement pictures for the very first time. So
- 7:27Speaker 1: Harry said that he wanted to propose earlier. It was
- 7:29Speaker 1: quite quick, but he wanted to propose earlier, but he
- 7:32Speaker 1: had to get the queen's permission. When he got the
- 7:34Speaker 1: queen's permission, can you imagine that, having to get your
- 7:36Speaker 1: grandmother's permission. So when he finally got her permission, he
- 7:39Speaker 1: got fifteen candles and he put them in the backyard,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and then he got down on one knee clutching a
- 7:46Speaker 1: ring It's so lovely, so romantic, clutching ring box. And
- 7:51Speaker 1: in her other hand she's petting her dogs. Just beautiful. Oh,
- 7:57Speaker 1: it's love. His name's Guy, Remember I the dog that
- 8:01Speaker 1: was with the Queen that went to book. He was
- 8:03Speaker 1: in He was a stray, a rescue dog and he
- 8:06Speaker 1: ended up in Windsor Castle. That that's a great book,
- 8:09Speaker 1: isn't it. She might have done that. Then then it
- 8:11Speaker 1: gets a little bit heavy, very heavy, and Megan says
- 8:15Speaker 1: she was never ever treated as a black woman until
- 8:18Speaker 1: she moved to the UK. It seems here that Megan
- 8:22Speaker 1: is not just calling the Royals racist, but she seems
- 8:27Speaker 1: to be calling the whole of Britain racist. Now, this
- 8:31Speaker 1: is going to get her into a lot of trouble
- 8:33Speaker 1: in Britain. Is there racism in Britain? Absolutely? Yes, the
- 8:37Speaker 1: whole country is not racist, Mark right, of course. And
- 8:41Speaker 1: you know, I think that we saw a snippet a
- 8:44Speaker 1: kind of what you know, she was experiencing. I can't
- 8:46Speaker 1: speak to her experience, but of course I don't think
- 8:48Speaker 1: the whole country is racist. But she did receive some
- 8:50Speaker 1: nasty comments online for she did. Yeah, she did, she did,
- 8:53Speaker 1: And she said that growing up she never ever heard
- 8:56Speaker 1: the N word in America, but she did hear it
- 8:59Speaker 1: in Britain and they also were shocked. The Daily Mail,
- 9:03Speaker 1: early on in the relationship, put out a headline that
- 9:05Speaker 1: basically said almost straight out of Compton, and that's racist.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And she was like, who the hard part of this though?
- 9:14Speaker 1: And I would have This is why the Oprah interview
- 9:17Speaker 1: was so great. When you do an interview, you can
- 9:19Speaker 1: ask what we call a follow up question. So if
- 9:21Speaker 1: you say something that I don't understand, that doesn't quite
- 9:24Speaker 1: make sense, I can ask you to tell me more,
- 9:27Speaker 1: explain that that doesn't happen in a reality show or
- 9:30Speaker 1: a docuseries. So I would have asked her, I understand
- 9:34Speaker 1: what you're saying. I do, but America has issues too
- 9:39Speaker 1: with race, including once having slaves. So how is it
- 9:44Speaker 1: that America is a place where you want to live
- 9:47Speaker 1: and you don't experience it here. That's a really interesting
- 9:51Speaker 1: conversation that they didn't have. Then get this, so everybody
- 9:54Speaker 1: thought Harry was going to compare Megan to his mom,
- 9:57Speaker 1: Princess Diana. He compared himself to Princess I really fell
- 10:02Speaker 1: up the couch, so he said, he said, I know.
- 10:05Speaker 1: He said that choosing to marry Megan broke the mold
- 10:08Speaker 1: in the same way that Princess Diana did. He said,
- 10:11Speaker 1: the difference between making a decision with your head are
- 10:14Speaker 1: your heart and you know it's not always with his heart,
- 10:17Speaker 1: he said, but he is his mother's mother's son. We
- 10:20Speaker 1: get to see new pictures of little Archie. That's lovely,
- 10:23Speaker 1: and then get this. He said that the family felt
- 10:25Speaker 1: as if joining this huge institution and being hounded was
- 10:30Speaker 1: almost a right of passage. So he Harry really pointed
- 10:35Speaker 1: out that everything Megan went through pretty much everybody has
- 10:39Speaker 1: been through in the family, and that's what it's like
- 10:42Speaker 1: to join this royal family. Said, it's almost like a
- 10:45Speaker 1: right of passage. And a lot of people in the
- 10:47Speaker 1: family who had been put through this, they were like, well,
- 10:49Speaker 1: why are you so special, We've all been through it.
- 10:52Speaker 1: We don't like the press. Princess and doesn't like the press,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and so why are you so different? And he said,
- 10:56Speaker 1: because there's a race element, and he is right about that. Ultimately,
- 11:01Speaker 1: the three hours end. The three hours end with the
- 11:05Speaker 1: water works. The tears are about to flow. So the
- 11:10Speaker 1: very ending is Harry growing very emotional, and he took
- 11:15Speaker 1: the blame for Megan growing estranged from her dad. It's great, Mark,
- 11:21Speaker 1: it's such good TV. It's sort of reminding me a
- 11:24Speaker 1: little bit of the Crow and it's not a docuseries.
- 11:27Speaker 1: It's a reality show and I'm here for it. I
- 11:29Speaker 1: thoroughly enjoyed it. They didn't really take any digs at
- 11:33Speaker 1: the family. They barely mentioned anybody's names. The only dig
- 11:37Speaker 1: is when she talks about meeting William and Cape for
- 11:39Speaker 1: the first time, and she said I'm a hugger, meaning
- 11:43Speaker 1: they're not. That's the only thing. So if they don't
- 11:47Speaker 1: deliver more bombshells in part two, I don't know if
- 11:51Speaker 1: people are going to think this is quite as dramatic
- 11:53Speaker 1: as what we thought it might be. Well listen, I mean,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I love that you broke it down saw ult commonly
- 11:57Speaker 1: because I don't think I have to watch it now.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I'm don't. I'm gonna wait for the dramatic part. Honestly,
- 12:04Speaker 1: put it on in the background. If it's a rainy sunder,
- 12:07Speaker 1: you're not glued to the TV. That Oprah interview mark
- 12:09Speaker 1: you and we didn't leave the TV. I wasn't going
- 12:12Speaker 1: to get to the bathroom for two hours, and I
- 12:13Speaker 1: just sat there texting and talking to you and watching it.
- 12:16Speaker 1: This you can do you you can do your housework,
- 12:18Speaker 1: you can cook a turkey, you can your pillows. I
- 12:22Speaker 1: was definitely flittering around the apartment while it was going on.
- 12:25Speaker 1: It was on in the background. Definitely worth watching. I
- 12:27Speaker 1: don't think the Royals have anything to be that really
- 12:30Speaker 1: fearful of. I think now it's done, it's done. My
- 12:32Speaker 1: inside is a telling me that the institution have seen
- 12:35Speaker 1: the first three episodes. It dropped to eight am in
- 12:38Speaker 1: the UK, so they didn't have to get up at three,
- 12:40Speaker 1: but I think they would have. I think they can
- 12:41Speaker 1: imagine William McKay's raud the TV and King Charles at
- 12:45Speaker 1: three am, so they didn't have to get up at
- 12:47Speaker 1: three I did. But I think Charles is already out today,
- 12:50Speaker 1: which is very smart. He went to a charity this morning.
- 12:52Speaker 1: He's been photographed smiling. I think in a week we're
- 12:55Speaker 1: going to be like, yeah, move on the next thing,
- 12:59Speaker 1: move on, move on. Talking of moving on, what are
- 13:01Speaker 1: you working on? My friend? So Rob More, Harry and
- 13:06Speaker 1: Megan news for you get enough, can't get enough? So
- 13:09Speaker 1: so Prince Harry and Megan Margot talked about sweeping down
- 13:12Speaker 1: the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance as they were
- 13:15Speaker 1: honored Ripple of Hope Awards. So the Duke and Duchess
- 13:20Speaker 1: of Sussex joined Ukrainian President Vladimir Zezinski as exemplary leaders.
- 13:27Speaker 1: So Carry Kennedy, who presented them with the award, praised
- 13:29Speaker 1: them for showing up and revealed that the RFK Foundation
- 13:33Speaker 1: was handing them their award for fighting racism within the
- 13:35Speaker 1: royal family. Rob Marco praised Carrie's father, Robert F. Kennedy, saying,
- 13:41Speaker 1: the enduring dream of RFK of a just in peaceful
- 13:44Speaker 1: world is much more than a simple hope. It's a
- 13:47Speaker 1: direct ask, a specific challenge, a call to action, a
- 13:50Speaker 1: test at individual courage and collective spirit. I think that's
- 13:53Speaker 1: a right. That's not nice, And I don't think Mark,
- 13:55Speaker 1: there's no coincidence that they're doing this, let's say before
- 14:01Speaker 1: the Netflix series drops, and I think this is where
- 14:04Speaker 1: they're going to go. They're not going to run for
- 14:06Speaker 1: office like Trump. They're not going to get into formal politics.
- 14:10Speaker 1: But I see them having like an Angelina Jolie type role,
- 14:14Speaker 1: being maybe un embassadors going around the world speaking out
- 14:19Speaker 1: for charities, for for organizations. They did a beautiful job
- 14:22Speaker 1: in New York. I have people who were there at
- 14:25Speaker 1: the event Mark, they said they're superstars. When when Megan
- 14:28Speaker 1: and Harry walked in the place exploded. They were not
- 14:32Speaker 1: taking any questions, questions people, no questions. They just did photographs.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And I think this is the future of Harry and Megan. Hey,
- 14:42Speaker 1: let's move alongside Jackie gold Schneider. I think that's how
- 14:47Speaker 1: you pull out her last day, she's blasting Bethany Frankel.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So Jackie is a housewife on the Jersey Show. Bethany
- 14:53Speaker 1: used to be on The New York One, and so
- 14:55Speaker 1: Jackie has been very honest about a long time a
- 14:58Speaker 1: lifelong struggle with eating disorder. And she said Bethany having
- 15:03Speaker 1: a brand called skinny Skinny Girl triggers her and it's
- 15:07Speaker 1: just not right. And Bethany can f off. Wow, there's
- 15:12Speaker 1: a point to this, isn't there? Like branding skinny I
- 15:15Speaker 1: don't know. It's made of a lot of money. It's
- 15:17Speaker 1: been rather brand has been around for like fifteen twenty years.
- 15:21Speaker 1: It was the point, it's like, why are you suddenly
- 15:23Speaker 1: having a problem with it? Why it's suddenly triggering you?
- 15:25Speaker 1: Like I can get the point, but like Bethany has
- 15:27Speaker 1: been around doing this for a quote some time now. Yeah. Yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 1: But I think what they've learned here market is that
- 15:31Speaker 1: it's a Bethany trick is, if you want attention, punch up,
- 15:35Speaker 1: punch a bigger celebrity. So Bethany punches the Kardashians and
- 15:39Speaker 1: now the other housems a punch in Bethany and it's
- 15:42Speaker 1: sort of getting them all pressed. And you're right, Skinny
- 15:45Speaker 1: Girl now too. It's not really in the zeitgeist anymore,
- 15:49Speaker 1: like fifteen years ago people were talking about it. I
- 15:51Speaker 1: never see it. It's almost impossible to buy in New York.
- 15:54Speaker 1: You can't get it in the supermarket, at least not
- 15:56Speaker 1: the whole foods that I go to. And I've never
- 15:58Speaker 1: ever seen it in a bar. Have you never got
- 16:00Speaker 1: into a bar and ordered a Skinny Girl? Not in
- 16:02Speaker 1: a bar. But I did have a bottle of that
- 16:04Speaker 1: once and I never been sicker. I was throwing up
- 16:07Speaker 1: the next day. It was like the worst, the worst
- 16:09Speaker 1: hangover my life. So they said a case of Skinny Girl.
- 16:13Speaker 1: When it debuted, I guess whose Christmas party I was
- 16:15Speaker 1: going to the next day, Amy Robots. So I took
- 16:19Speaker 1: Skinny Girl to as apartment and it was like a gag.
- 16:23Speaker 1: We all screamed laughing. Nobody dragged, you know. I was like,
- 16:27Speaker 1: you don't, you don't look like any Roebuck if you no, no, no, no, no,
- 16:31Speaker 1: Hey more reality stars. What's going on with Cathy Hilton?
- 16:33Speaker 1: Oh my god, this is so funny. So Cathy Hilton
- 16:36Speaker 1: was branded as entitled thing classless as you began putting
- 16:39Speaker 1: on makeup in full view of the cameras. After the
- 16:42Speaker 1: reality show cast presented Mariska Hargerta with the Drama TV
- 16:46Speaker 1: Star of the People's Choice Awards. It was vile. Did
- 16:51Speaker 1: you say so? Militia gets up on stage, it makes
- 16:53Speaker 1: this really sort of kind, compassionate speech about courage. It's
- 16:57Speaker 1: a beautiful space was right over her left shoulder. Kathy
- 17:01Speaker 1: Hilton opens her purse, takes out her lipstick and puts
- 17:05Speaker 1: it on stands. It's just, I mean, part of me
- 17:08Speaker 1: loves it. And this is who they are. This is
- 17:10Speaker 1: who those ladies are. The part of this story that
- 17:13Speaker 1: I don't understand is why are the Real Housewives giving
- 17:17Speaker 1: Lauren Order an award? Like you think they would have
- 17:21Speaker 1: someone I want to say better, that's not the right word,
- 17:23Speaker 1: but a different sort of person when you get an
- 17:26Speaker 1: award at these awards shows. I noticed I've been to
- 17:29Speaker 1: a million of them, and I've worked a lot of
- 17:30Speaker 1: them too. You get to say who you want to
- 17:32Speaker 1: give you that awards. If you're George Clooney, you picked
- 17:35Speaker 1: Julia Roberts, you don't pick Kathy Hilton. So you better
