- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:41I wanted to touch on we had a few celebrity passings.
- 0:46Obviously Robert Duvall passed away, and then Jesse Jackson,
- 0:51and the only reason that I even knew Robert Duvall was in To
- 0:55Kill a Mockingbird was because instead of reading the book in
- 1:009th grade English, I decided to go rent the VHS.
- 1:03That's exactly what I did. Got it.
- 1:07That is the only way I like. I know that he was in that
- 1:11movie. So yeah, I mean, he's obviously
- 1:14had other great movies since then, but yeah.
- 1:17So I was thinking about, So for me, a movie called The Paper
- 1:20with Michael Keaton is great. What's about the big
- 1:22metropolitan? And I think it's AI want to say
- 1:24it's a Rob Ryan or something like that. 1990.
- 1:26He's the editor. Great, great one there.
- 1:28Second hand lions where where he is the where they tell the big
- 1:34tall tales. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:35And they live in the middle of nowhere and they bring the
- 1:37little boy comes and they're like, oh, we did all these
- 1:40things and and no one believed them.
- 1:43And at the end of the movie you discover that all the stories
- 1:46were true, like they were. So they were some crazy mofos.
- 1:50Yeah, so, so, yeah, Robert Duvall, and there's been a lot
- 1:53like he was in a movie called The Judge with Robert Downey
- 1:55Junior. I mean, the, the list of Robert,
- 1:58it's just insane. He's great.
- 2:00I think my biggest memory for Jesse Jackson, of course #1
- 2:03running for president. I think that that's kind of the
- 2:05big deal. But then also I think what so is
- 2:08inspirational about him. He lives in a time where there
- 2:12truly was a water fountain for colored and for white people and
- 2:17he walked with Martin Luther King Junior and he was a part of
- 2:20the civil rights. And I just I think you cannot
- 2:23dismiss that era. I wasn't born, you weren't born.
- 2:27I could not imagine living in that time And the racism.
- 2:31I I mean, we deal with the day, the racism that the rate, the
- 2:34racism that we deal with today. But I couldn't imagine being
- 2:36there in the 50s when you you couldn't go into a diner, you
- 2:39couldn't eat. You know, there was legit signs,
- 2:42legit signs saying whites only where you.
- 2:45I mean, I, I remember it was funny is down near the, the
- 2:50Yakima Sun Dome, there's a little Mexican restaurant there
- 2:53and we were doing, I think it was a Toby Keith show or
- 2:55something. And so I ran over there to get a
- 2:56burrito and did I ever fill out a place?
- 2:59Walking into that little dive every, you know, I'm saying it
- 3:01was like, I was like, Oh, I'm the only, I, I'm the, I'm a
- 3:04gringo in this place, you know, I'm saying.
- 3:05And they were super cool. But I wait.
- 3:07I mean, money's money. But I understand what what
- 3:11people feel like. I, I had this, whoa, this weird
- 3:14feeling because I'm like, wow, I just stepped into somewhere I've
- 3:16never been basically. And, and so Can you imagine
- 3:20living in a, in a turbulent time when that was the norm, like
- 3:24and, and, and, and the police and the law, they allowed the,
- 3:28the atrocities that they allowed.
- 3:31So for me, Jesse Jackson, that that's kind of what that legacy
- 3:34for me is, you know, we didn't live during that time and, and
- 3:38what he what he championed, I guess.
- 3:40Right. I was going to say now, since
- 3:43his passing, there have been a bunch of people who have been
- 3:47saying because of him that are African American, that are like
- 3:51because of him, I got into politics.
- 3:53I like he inspired me. He made me believe that I can.
- 3:57Be a part of. This I can do this, yes.
- 3:59And so just seeing that impact that he made, like, yeah, he ran
- 4:03for president. Who was it in 84?
- 4:06Yeah, twice. Yeah, but a couple times, yeah,
- 4:09yeah. So just the fact that he just
- 4:12put himself out there and ran is what inspired these people.
- 4:16And so I thought. Well, he even laid you could
- 4:18even you could even say he laid the groundwork for Obama because
- 4:22because for so long and and even to this day, it's like this
- 4:25nation does not want to elect a black president.
- 4:27I mean, they don't want to elect a black president or they or
- 4:29even a black woman or even a woman, right?
- 4:32So, yeah, but guys like, but guys like Jesse Jackson was out
- 4:35there laying the, you know, lay in the brick before Obama came
- 4:39along. And so I think that that there
- 4:41is a debt of gratitude and and he's gonna be sorely missed.
- 4:45Yeah, definitely. OK, so now we can move on to
- 4:48happy things. So how is Valentine's Day?
- 4:53OK, so I I'm able to come back and report now.
- 4:57So Are you ready for a good report?
- 4:58So it's good, OK. It's good.
- 5:00Well, I talked about, OK, so I talked about my wife's hang up
- 5:04about Valentine's Day because it's like she she doesn't
- 5:07necessarily want to do anything right?
- 5:09And it doesn't matter to her her.
- 5:11Birthday is right is. It's yeah, her birthday is
- 5:15coming up, right? So it's, it's her birthday is
- 5:17exactly one week from Valentine's Day.
- 5:19So I thought that it had to do with her birthday.
- 5:22I'm like, OK, maybe she's been stiffed in the past, blah, blah,
- 5:24blah, all these different things.
- 5:26So I had a heart, heart to heart talk with her and discovered
- 5:30that in her mind, sometimes it's just a useless holiday to her.
- 5:35I mean, I kind of feel the same. I feel like it's just trying to
- 5:38get money out of people and. She she that's that.
- 5:42It's not about that she not love me or do anything like that, you
- 5:45know, And so, and she did send me a funny, she did send me a
- 5:50funny video about all, all a man wants is ABJ and a, and a
- 5:53sandwich, a a little parody song, you know, I mean, cause
- 5:57and that was some guys like, you know what, what, what?
- 6:00Yeah, when I think about, you know, when, when, when you ask a
- 6:03man what they want, then that's a hilarity parody song that she
- 6:05sent me was like, that's basically it.
- 6:07You don't have to shop for, you don't ever have to shop for a
- 6:09guy. So, but The funny thing was so
- 6:12she said, yeah, to her, it's just a, it's a throwaway.
- 6:14So it's like, you know, you're going to do flowers, go to
- 6:16dinner, candy. So in her mind, it wasn't, I
- 6:19thought it was all about wrapped around her birthday, but it
- 6:21wasn't. It was literally she just does
- 6:22not find the value in Valentine's Day.
- 6:25Now what we did, of course, is she ended up getting me candy,
- 6:30which she told me not to get her nothing.
- 6:33So she did, but she gave me a she got me a because she knows I
- 6:36love Reese's peanut butter cups. So she got me a Reese's peanut
- 6:39butter heart. So it's kind of cool, right?
- 6:42Well, she put it in with and she got Kyron a bag of Heath, little
- 6:46Heath bars Valentine's Day. So so anyway, she told Kyron to
- 6:50come pick up his candy and he took my heart.
- 6:53He took, oh, he did. Well, he didn't know he did
- 6:55because they were stacked on each other.
- 6:57And so, and so I so I said, Hey, did you see my Reese's peanut
- 7:00butter heart? And she's like, no.
- 7:02And I said, and she goes and she goes, Kyron must have taken it.
- 7:04So it's hilarious that they were stacked on each other, but he
- 7:06just took it. So I didn't get the the peanut
- 7:08butter part, but we did. So we ended up going to it's
- 7:13funny. Here's OK, this is a great
- 7:14story. So my wife I kept all week long.
- 7:17Hey, what do you want to do? What do you want to do?
- 7:18I kept throwing ideas out. She kept shooting them down
- 7:21bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. So anyway, she finally sent me
- 7:24three options because here's a couple options and one was
- 7:28Barnard Griffin, which is a winery.
- 7:30And she goes, well, the tickets are expensive.
- 7:31And so the tickets were $106.00 apiece for this, for this, for
- 7:36A5 course, dinner, 5 course. Dinner.
- 7:38Oh, that's fine then. So, so, so it's going to be over
- 7:42200 plus dollars for dinner, right?
- 7:44Then she sent another little Valentine's Day, which was Ice
- 7:47Harbor Brewery and that was like 60 bucks a person.
- 7:51And then she sent the Tri and then she sent me a link to the
- 7:53Tri-City Americans, which is our local hockey team.
- 7:55I said, oh, so I mean that oh, we'll go to a hockey game, grab
- 7:58some dinner and then and then we kicked around going to a movie.
- 8:01She looked at what movies were out and she, I mean, she did a
- 8:03bunch of different things and I knew that the first thing she
- 8:06sent me the the barn. Which one did she really?
- 8:10I mean, she didn't say that. That's when she wanted.
- 8:12Well, she didn't say that, but that's the one we that's the one
- 8:15we decided on. And it's that again, going back
- 8:18to the first thing out, you know what I'm saying?
- 8:20Right, instead of the hockey game that you wanted to do
- 8:22because it's probably the cheap route.
- 8:24Well. It wasn't even about being, it
- 8:26wasn't about being cheap, but it was.
- 8:28The funny thing was she we decided on the barn Barnyard,
- 8:33Barnyard Griffin, so we did that.
- 8:35So it was a it was great. And The funny thing about going
- 8:37out to those fancy dinners is the portion sizes are the right
- 8:40size. They're like, no, they're like
- 8:42tiny. Like, yes, yes, so so the
- 8:45hilarity about that is, of course, you know, that's the
- 8:48real portion size you should be eating as a human.
- 8:50Yes, yeah, like the size of your fist is what we should be
- 8:54eating. But but the hilarity is but we
- 8:56don't. So anyway, so we did that.
- 8:58It was, it was a lot of fun. And then we went to a winery.
- 9:02We had winery or we'd had brewery is out near our home.
- 9:05So we went out there and she had a she had a stout and she even
- 9:07took a a video of me taking a sip off the stout.
- 9:10Holy shit. So when it says chocolate, it's
- 9:13a chocolate stout, right? It's no, it's I.
- 9:16Want to I want to taste some effing chocolate.
- 9:19They don't. Like they never taste like what
- 9:21they are. Don't say it.
- 9:23Oh, here's oh, this is strawberry.
- 9:24Whatever. No, it is it.
- 9:25It never tastes like so anyway, you already know I'm a non
- 9:27drinker. I don't drink at all.
- 9:29And so to me, it's bitter beer face.
- 9:30And she took a she took a video of it because she thought it was
- 9:33hilarious and she knew I would hate it.
- 9:35At least she took a sip and tried it so.
- 9:37Yeah, yeah. And so then we came home and we
- 9:39watched a movie. I got to recommend it.
- 9:42The life, the life of Charlie. Life of Charlie.
- 9:46My gosh. Loki.
- 9:47Loki is in it. Who's the actor that plays Loki?
- 9:51Tom Hiddleston. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 9:54So, and it's an amazing, it's it's based on a Stephen King
- 9:59book or a short story. And and so it was absolutely
- 10:02great. So anyway, so yeah, it turned
- 10:04out, it turned out, turned out pretty good.
- 10:06So that's, that was my my Valentine's Day.
- 10:08And that was pretty good. Don't you think?
- 10:11I was a pretty good, I mean. Yeah, that was really good.
- 10:14So but I will bring this up and I'm curious so and help me walk
- 10:18me through this and this is not to be TMI, right?
- 10:20OK, one thing I've noticed about my wife is no is she?
- 10:26I don't know how do I put this into like she makes.
- 10:29So you won't get in trouble. No, no, no.
- 10:31It's one of those things where it's one of those things where
- 10:34you normally think we go to dinner, we come home and you get
- 10:37naked basically, right. So, but with my wife, my wife,
- 10:41my wife Will Will play, what is it, Wordle?
- 10:46Yeah, my wife will play my wife will.
- 10:49We, like I said, dinner. We went to the winery.
- 10:52We watched a movie, then we got into bed.
- 10:54And then she's playing Wordle. So she.
- 10:57So she makes me wait. I guess I just got it.
- 11:00This is the Wordle of the day. Or whatever, whatever.
- 11:05So whereas I am a man and I want to get down to business.
- 11:09Right, you're. Like no, no, exactly.
- 11:12So I'm like now number one, I will, I will be 100% truthful,
- 11:16honest with it too. I'm always afraid of falling
- 11:18asleep because I'm at that age. I'm just.
- 11:20Going to say I picture you falling asleep or try not to
- 11:23fall asleep at night. Exactly, but I'm waiting.
- 11:26But I'm waiting for the young guy.
- 11:27I'm Yum. So I got I got I'm waiting for
- 11:30the Yum yums. I got no choice.
- 11:31But because to me I'm like, OK, 8:30 at night, let's get this
- 11:35going. Let's get what I'm saying.
- 11:36Let's wrap tie this off and and my wife will drag it out with
- 11:41just scrolling her Facebook, watching a video.
- 11:44Yeah, you know, different things.
- 11:45I mean, she do it. I think she does it on purpose.
- 11:48I she, she I because we as women know that you guys like the
- 11:53chase, so to speak and so. No.
- 11:57She's having. If she's making you have to work
- 11:59for it more, then that makes sense from our perspective.
- 12:04Rick Michaels don't even chase because because to me, I look at
- 12:09it like dinner, the brewery, the movie.
- 12:11You played Wordle, you played Wordle.
- 12:14Like when are we getting down to business here?
- 12:16It's either not, or you need to get her drunk or I don't know.
- 12:20No, no, I mean, we've had this conversation too.
- 12:22She's we've also had this conversation too.
- 12:24Well, she's like, you don't have to get me drunk to blah, blah,
- 12:27blah. So, but I'm, but I'm like, but
- 12:29you tend to be more happy, not drunk, but I'm saying you tend
- 12:33to be more frisky if I, if I fill you up with some from
- 12:38alcohol or whatever. So, so from your perspective,
- 12:42and it's not about TMI, but it's like so, so I mean, I guess it's
- 12:45different because you don't see Jay for an entire week.
- 12:48Right. So, so you're like, this is so
- 12:50are you, are you? I guess the question is, are you
- 12:52just to get down to business kind of person or are you like,
- 12:55no, I'm going to drag this shit out?
- 12:57It really depends. Like obviously if you're going
- 12:59to wear your lingerie or that kind of thing.
- 13:01Like I'm you're not playing Wordle.
- 13:03You're not. If.
- 13:05You were right, you know, Like this is, this is the purpose,
- 13:09this is the intent. This is Valentine's Day,
- 13:11whatever it is, like, you know, and when he is home, like I'm
- 13:15really not on my phone that much when he is home.
- 13:19That's sweet. Because, you know, that's the
- 13:22limited time that I have with him.
- 13:23And so I try not to be on my phone too much.
- 13:25Obviously if the kids text or whatever it is, then I'll
- 13:29respond. But really both of us try not to
- 13:31be on our phone too much. I mean, he obviously has to be a
- 13:34little bit more because he is the general manager and so he
- 13:37has to be available for his job at all time.
- 13:39So, so yeah, I usually don't play Wordle.
- 13:43I don't, I don't know. I don't know why she does that.
- 13:47That I don't know. That doesn't make sense to me.
- 13:49Because remember, she's give her, give her.
- 13:52Credit then like she's just trying to make you either.
- 13:55She's trying to either build up the anticipation for you or.
- 13:58No, I. Think you chased it?
- 14:00I don't know. Like, well, I, I think she also,
- 14:03you have to remember she's very sensible.
- 14:05We've talked about that. She's just very sensible.
- 14:06So like a great example is like, oh, well, maybe some lingerie or
- 14:09whatever. She's like, why?
- 14:10It never stays on more than two minutes.
- 14:13She goes, why do I, why do you want lingerie?
- 14:14It it's off. So is that, is that a sensible?
- 14:18I'm like, well, you can keep it on.
- 14:20I get. I mean.
- 14:22I mean, that's. Depend on what it is, yeah.
- 14:25She's like, but it's like she goes, she goes, she goes, yeah,
- 14:28it's, it's off in a minute. So why, why am I doing that?
- 14:32But it's. But it could spice things up or
- 14:35it changes things up. It mixes things up.
- 14:38I mean, depending on what the lingerie is, she could be the
- 14:40sexy nerd, she could be the sexy super.
- 14:43I don't know. No.
- 14:44It's one of those things. So yeah.
- 14:46So it's, it's like, it's like, I guess the like, like you were
- 14:49just like, let's say role-playing.
- 14:51And this is, I mean, it's not to go into the weeds, but
- 14:53role-playing is like, you know, it's like, oh, if I wanted to
- 14:55wear a Spider man shirt or something, you know, now, could
- 15:00you, when you talk to Jay, do you just tell Jay, hey, I want
- 15:03you to wear if if you're like, I want you to do this up as a UPS
- 15:05guy or what? Yeah, or I would buy it for him.
- 15:09Yeah, OK. OK, all right, all right, right.
- 15:11But I always feel for me, I just feel embarrassed to ask for
- 15:15those different things because my, because again, my wife is
- 15:17very sensible. So when I say something it
- 15:19doesn't, she doesn't. She doesn't turn me down or say
- 15:21no or anything. Right, She's like, why?
- 15:24Yes, yes, I guess. And so I'm.
- 15:27You have to provide a sense of a reason.
- 15:29Basically, right, exactly. So anyway, so it turned out it
- 15:33actually was it was really great.
- 15:35Her birthday's coming up. Her mom's going to be here on
- 15:38Thursday, her brother's going to be here on Friday.
- 15:40She she reserved at that brewery that she likes.
- 15:44They have a big glass Dome, so she reserved it for a couple
- 15:46hours on Saturday. So we're going to do her family
- 15:50and her friends are going to come out there and she's
- 15:53inviting people. And so it's it's good.
- 15:54Nice. Her mom's great.
- 15:56Well, her mom and her brother are great.
- 15:57And so, and then I did save the receipt.
- 16:00I got her that tent. So what did I tell you?
- 16:02I was going to get her a tent. No, we have not discussed what
- 16:04you were going. Because she, well, last week she
- 16:06was home. So last week she was home.
- 16:08So she, she has a campsite that she goes to an Oregon.
- 16:13So we have so we have a campsite.
- 16:15So it's four, it's 4 hours away, but we have a campsite to where
- 16:21it, so it's one of those, it's those year long campsites where
- 16:24you pay a yearly due and so you have your sites.
- 16:28So it's not one of those that you change sites.
- 16:30So, so she's like last year she spent $1000 and put gravel in
- 16:33her sights. I mean, yeah, you, you make the
- 16:37site. Your site how you want it.
- 16:39Yes, yeah, exactly. Within the rules of the camps of
- 16:42the campground. Great.
- 16:43So. So.
- 16:44Yeah. So I mean, so, yeah.
- 16:46So she, you know, she cleared a path and all these different
- 16:48things that she's done in her past.
- 16:49So she'd been at, she had a, she had a tent over her fire pit and
- 16:53she didn't think it was big enough.
- 16:54So I reached out to her mom and said, Hey, what size tent should
- 16:58I get? And so then I went and got one
- 17:00at big 5. And so it's in the, it's in the
- 17:02man cave right now. So, but now, now The thing is,
- 17:04it's that huge box. Do you wrap it because it's
- 17:08freaking longer than crap? I mean, you could.
- 17:11It's going to take like a couple of rolls.
- 17:12Around, yeah, it does. It does.
- 17:14It does or or you just say I mean.
- 17:17Or get one of those big gift bags.
- 17:19They have the giant, the jumbo gift bags.
- 17:21Oh, I'd like to see what it's biggest.
- 17:23It's 13 by. 13 I mean, you get a couple of those and just instead
- 17:26of wrapping paper, that's what I would.
- 17:27Do hilarious. So yeah.
- 17:30So anyway, Yep, so her birthday's coming up, got a
- 17:32great, got a little b-day plans. Good, good.
- 17:34Now we're gonna now we're gonna go 360 this thing back to how
- 17:37was your Valentine's Day? It was good.
- 17:39It was low key because like Megan, I think Valentine's Day
- 17:43is just one of those holidays that it's just all these
- 17:47businesses trying to get money out of people.
- 17:49Sure, like you can say how much you love that person whatever of
- 17:53course which like Jay and I got each other cards and he was home
- 17:58again. Normally depending on where
- 18:00Valentine falls, he is not home during the week.
- 18:03So if it falls during the week, then he's not home.
- 18:06And so, so that's kind of why he got the flowers for all the
- 18:14employees. At the radio station.
- 18:23Not that you would date anybody at the radio station because
- 18:31most DJ's are stinky. Yeah, stinky and nasty, but but
- 18:35it still was a signal to don't be sniffing around my meat.
- 18:38Right. Is that?
- 18:39Is that the purpose of sending flowers to?
- 18:43I took it from Jay as the purpose that Jay sent flowers.
- 18:47This is my prize possession. And if you're sniffing around my
- 18:50meat, you're going to be knowing that there's another bowl,
- 18:53there's another, there's another bull in the stable.
- 18:55Right. Look at these flowers.
- 18:57You obviously can't afford it. Well, we.
- 18:59Didn't just, we didn't just send you flowers and they were very
- 19:02nice flowers. Yeah, they were.
- 19:04It wasn't a $30 Safeway bouquet. No, I think it was Gasparetti's.
- 19:08Yes. Yeah.
- 19:10So yeah, in the in the elite it. Was way over the top.
- 19:13It was not necessary. In the elite tier.
- 19:18The gold tier. Yeah, No, I don't know how it
- 19:21would be. So he bought me flowers.
- 19:23Yeah, he bought me a little bag of M and NS the Valentine's
- 19:27months because that's my favorite candy.
- 19:29And then we just went to Bronner, the, you know, brewery
- 19:32out and now cheese that has pizza because we love their Taco
- 19:34pizza. I'm like, I don't want to go
- 19:36anywhere, fan. It's Saturday.
- 19:37It's going to be like packed. I'm old.
- 19:40Now I don't want to have. To deal with this shit.
- 19:42So yeah, so that's what we did. We're just like, yeah, went to
- 19:46the brewery, had some pizza. Easy peasy.
- 19:49We kind of sort of did that and and you did and you didn't make
- 19:52him wait for it. So that's good.
- 19:53So. No it.
- 19:54Didn't play. No, it's Valentine's, right?
- 19:58Why? I know exactly, exactly.
- 20:02So no, it was it was it was good.
- 20:04And my and and you know, my wife says I make her sound like a bee
- 20:07and I and she's not she's my she's amazing.
- 20:10She you've met Megan. Megan is.
- 20:12Yeah, no, she Megan puts up with you.
- 20:15No. She does, she does.
- 20:17She puts up with me. But, and she is pretty, pretty
- 20:20incredible. It's just, you know, it's one of
- 20:22those just one of those things they have to have to get ahead
- 20:26of. I, I do my best, I try.
- 20:28Oh, she was proud of me this year because normally I always
- 20:32go no matter what she says, I go against what she says no matter
- 20:34what. And so she did say no flowers or
- 20:37candy. So I literally didn't do it at
- 20:39all. Normally I would get a card and
- 20:41some candy and and put it in her car on her seat or I have a
- 20:44surprise her. Right.
- 20:45Which is. That's nice.
- 20:47It is nice, but I didn't do any of that this year.
- 20:49And she was OK with that or she or she wasn't.
- 20:52Like where was my candy? Not at all.
- 20:54She was like, she goes, I'm glad she goes.
- 20:56I'm glad you finally listened to me and didn't get me any candy.
- 20:58Great. Yeah.
- 20:59So she was very happy with. That, I mean, it's nice to get
- 21:01our favorite candy, but then again, if we're trying to watch
- 21:05what we're eating or diet or and then it's around the house and
- 21:09then we're going to eat it and. Yeah, so that, I mean, that's
- 21:12probably 99.9% because I eat like a 12 year old.
- 21:16And so, and so she I, you know, I didn't, I didn't realize I've
- 21:20I've gotten better. The importance of not having
- 21:23chips or not having candy bars or not having junk food in the
- 21:26house because you know, she's, she's all she's always going to
- 21:29the gym or she's always show meal prepping, all these
- 21:32different things. And she and she goes when you
- 21:34leave candy bars in the house or when you leave chips, I'm going
- 21:37to eat them good. Because to me, because now there
- 21:40is a big difference between Megan and I, I'm a mood eater.
- 21:43So to me, it's like if I don't feel like having a candy bar, I
- 21:46won't have a candy bar. Right.
- 21:47So even though, even if there's ice cream, even if there's ice
- 21:50cream right now in the freezer, it's like, unless I feel like
- 21:53ice cream, I won't have a bowl of it.
- 21:55And, and sometimes stuff it'll just go bad because I will never
- 21:59touch it because, because I have to be in the mood to eat, to eat
- 22:03stuff. So whereas she just says, well,
- 22:05if there's ice cream, I'm just going to eat it.
- 22:07So that's the difference in that.
- 22:09So I I've I've gotten better at not not having basically junk
- 22:12food in the house so. Yeah, I mean, it's hard for, I
- 22:15think I'm a bored eater. So if I'm watching TV then I
- 22:20have a habit of snacking more and I really have to watch that.
- 22:23So that's always been a challenge for me.
- 22:25So yeah, that's that's. That's the trick.
- 22:28Super low blood pressure and so I'll crave like salty things.
- 22:32So like chips because that's my body saying, hey, your blood
- 22:35pressure is low, we need to like bump it up.
- 22:37And chips are shit for you. Like you really shouldn't eat
- 22:41that many of them. And that's what I want because
- 22:43they have the salt on them and I'll just sit there and eat like
- 22:45half the bag. While I'm watching this.
- 22:47TV show Yeah and go what the hell?
- 22:49Stupid serving size that you know when they when you go buy a
- 22:52little bag of whatever and it says, oh, it's, you know,
- 22:55whatever it is serving size. Well, even the little, even the
- 22:57little bag of Doritos is actually 3 servings.
- 23:00So you see. So you see.
- 23:01Four chips, right? You look at and you go, oh, it's
- 23:04130 calories. And then you eat the bag and
- 23:07you're like, no, the bag was 800 calories.
- 23:09You know, I was like, bullshit. I know I call bullshit.
- 23:12Yeah, well, hopefully her birthday will be fabulous, and
- 23:15it's, I think it's gonna be great.
- 23:16Valentine's, I think. It's gonna be good because her
- 23:18mom's gonna be here and her brother's gonna be here and mom
- 23:21can direct traffic, so. That's always good.
- 23:25Yeah, well, her mom's great. Her mom's great too.
- 23:28And so I'm, I do know, I'm DDI do know that.
- 23:31So we're going to do wine tasting.
- 23:32So she wants to go wine tasting on her birthdays.
- 23:34So. So her brother and her mom and
- 23:37her. I will probably have to be
- 23:38driving around. Well, that's good, yeah, because
- 23:40you can get lit wine tasting. Yeah, exactly.
- 23:44You don't. Relax.
- 23:45It but the but the bummer thing is because mom is in the house,
- 23:48guess what ain't happening? Fun land.
- 23:51Fun Land will be shut down. Because Mom is in it.
- 23:53What's that? Well, it's Megan's birthday.
- 23:56And that's the and that's the least thing she wants.
- 23:59Like, like if you were going down a list of what she wants
- 24:01for her birthday, guarantee that is like not even on that's not
- 24:06even on her list. So I remember it was funny years
- 24:09ago. So we go visit her parents in
- 24:11Salem, in Salem on occasion, right.
- 24:14And I remember that we were in her childhood bedroom and it and
- 24:18it has and it has stars on the ceiling.
- 24:20You know, she had, you know, it's a kids room, you know what
- 24:22I'm saying? And her parents and her mom's
- 24:25room is, I mean, it's still far enough away, right.
- 24:28And I and I tried to make a move and she's like, no, not in my
- 24:31not in my childhood bedroom. And I was like, well, I'm sure
- 24:34old man mountain's been in here. Oh no.
- 24:36Oh God. I was gonna say like she's had
- 24:40other. Boyfriends.
- 24:42Well, yeah, And her, her high school boyfriend or whatever she
- 24:45used to travel from, she used to travel from Salem to Portland
- 24:50every other weekend to go see the the boyfriend in high
- 24:52school. But she has also said that's
- 24:55been her biggest regret because she spent her entire high school
- 24:58with the same guy, basically. And so.
- 25:02So it was and then and then, and then.
- 25:04But I still can at least joke about it.
- 25:06Right. Yeah, so.
- 25:09I trust me. I do this on the radio too.
- 25:10I call them, I call them Man Mountain.
- 25:12I think we've discussed Man Mountain before, right?
- 25:14I yes, I think in a past podcast.
- 25:19And on the radio show I'm sure we've talked about.
- 25:21Yes, yeah, I'm not sure Mountain.
- 25:23Yes, I know on the radio we've gone into more detail who he is
- 25:28and. Well, so.
- 25:31What role he plays in her life or whatever.
- 25:34It is so, so OK now. Now maybe you're now.
- 25:37Maybe you look at it differently.
- 25:38Here's the deal. Have you ever looked?
- 25:40Does Jay? OK, First off, I have to ask a
- 25:41question. Does Jay have any photos of his
- 25:43exes? Yes.
- 25:45OK. Are they all like you I guess is
- 25:49the question. No, OK, no, I think like I think
- 25:52I'm the exception. You know how everybody has a
- 25:55type and his before me was always like dark haired girls.
- 26:00And so I mean not always, but the majority.
- 26:04There was some blondes mixed in there, but not very much.
- 26:07So yeah. Right.
- 26:08So, so when I so Ethan Mann Mountain, there's a picture of
- 26:13when I first met Megan, he's like 6-5 or something like that.
- 26:18And then she was probably God probably weighed 120 at the time
- 26:21in high school. So he, he, he was ginormous.
- 26:25Like he's big. And so I'm saying.
- 26:28And so I'm like, well, what, what, why are you married?
- 26:30Why are you married to me? Like, like I'm not even that,
- 26:34that just from a physicality standpoint, not even, not even
- 26:37close to Man Mountain. So, so that's kind of so.
- 26:40Yeah. So I always, I always bring
- 26:42that. I always bring that up.
- 26:44So because when you you see somebody.
- 26:46Yeah. Wouldn't.
- 26:46Now, wouldn't you see that if you saw Jay with somebody that
- 26:49was just diametrically different?
- 26:51Yeah. Wouldn't it make you wonder?
- 26:52Well, I mean, let's see. Yeah.
- 26:54The problem is you're attractive.
- 26:56See, that's the thing, you know, that's the that's the.
- 26:58That's why this story doesn't work.
- 26:59Are. You saying you're not?
- 27:01I'm not. I don't think I was attractive
- 27:03when I was younger, so I don't think I was attractive when I
- 27:05was younger. So yes.
- 27:06You were. Yes, you were.
- 27:08Think so? Because I don't think so.
- 27:09No, my teeth were like all jacked like that.
- 27:13Well. We all had yes I know you had
- 27:14your insecurities but great. But, but in my realm of the
- 27:18universe, you're still attractive.
- 27:19So OK, when he was younger, Yeah.
- 27:21And you have seen a picture like my homecoming photo.
- 27:25Yeah, yeah. So you know, I'm in, you know,
- 27:27I'm a 4.5 on a good day. So now hopefully the personality
- 27:31makes it up, makes it up a notch to a six.
- 27:33That's. Probably, Yeah, Yeah.
- 27:35If I'm lucky, if I'm lucky now, maybe maybe 10 years ago, 20
- 27:38years ago, I was probably A5. See.
- 27:40Maybe mountain man, mountain, whatever, whatever you call him,
- 27:43maybe he doesn't have a good personality.
- 27:45Well, no, he was a hey, I, hey, I call.
- 27:48I could see it. I give him credit.
- 27:49He was not not a it wasn't a bad looking dude now.
- 27:52He didn't have a good personality is what?
- 27:56I'm saying, well, Megan says, well, now, I mean they do keep
- 27:58in contact today and Megan says that he's 300 lbs and she would
- 28:03never in a billion years because they're so politically die of
- 28:07different. Now he's a he's a massive
- 28:09Trumper and like just politically she goes, she goes.
- 28:12I couldn't even stand to be in the same room with the guy if
- 28:15but they still they still are friends and they still chitchat.
- 28:18I used to get jealous about it all the time, Like, why is she
- 28:20talking to man mountain all the time?
- 28:22And but you know what? And I, I, I, I will give myself
- 28:26credit. I did a smart thing for the
- 28:28first time ever years ago was I wasn't like snooping on her, but
- 28:33I could see that she was texting him, but she never told me she
- 28:35was texting him, right. And I thought, and I just never
- 28:38brought it up. I'm like, you know what?
- 28:39I'm just not going to bring it up.
- 28:40And so we're driving down the road one day and she goes, Oh,
- 28:42by the way, I'm texting Ethan and blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 28:46blah. So I was very proud of myself
- 28:49instead of going, hey, what the F's going on here?
- 28:52Why? Why are you?
- 28:52Why are you texting him and not telling me about it?
- 28:55Right. I, I let her, I let her tell me
- 28:59all about it and I also let her say Matt.
- 29:01And she goes, oh, I got, she goes.
- 29:03I have nothing in common with her.
- 29:04I can't even believe I dated that guy.
- 29:06And then I went. Then I felt pretty good about
- 29:10that situation, but I was so proud of myself.
- 29:12Yeah, anybody, I anybody would be like what the fuck, right?
- 29:18Not just. You right, so I'm, I'm proud of
- 29:20myself that I let her So I so then I just knew nothing was
- 29:23going on because she she brought it up in conversation.
- 29:26Yeah, yeah. So yeah, but.
- 29:29But there you go. A couple of funny stories for.
- 29:30You. Yeah.
- 29:31Yeah. Well, at least he won't be at
- 29:32her birthday party this weekend, so.
- 29:34No, he will not. I've never met him.
- 29:36Now I have met No, no, I've never met Ethan in person.
- 29:40I do. I have met Kyron's dad, Jeff.
- 29:43So Kyron's dad's name is Jeff, and I guess we're kind of
- 29:47similar. I would not.
- 29:49I wouldn't say we're. I mean, he's bald, so I'm not.
- 29:53So that might be, I am pretty. I am pretty damn proud that I
- 29:57have hair at my age. Yes, you are lucky.
- 29:59And lots of it. Yes.
- 30:01And lots of it. And no Gray are very little, you
- 30:04know what I'm saying? So, yeah.
- 30:05So that, you know, but I think I have.
- 30:07I mean, I guess I could see Kyron's dad, but and then and
- 30:11then I really don't talk about the rest of the I mean, do you
- 30:13ever talk about Jay's exes with her, with him or a lot?
- 30:15I mean years ago, not stay. No, I mean, not anymore.
- 30:18It's just because. Well, you guys broke up for a
- 30:21little bit too. Yeah, we did on and off for
- 30:25quite, I mean, especially when I was, when I turned 21, then it
- 30:28was like, oh, like. He's So who was off to the
- 30:32races? Were you off to the races when
- 30:33you turned 21? When I turned 21, yes, yeah.
- 30:36I was like, yeah, we're gonna break up because I'm gonna,
- 30:40like, go out to the bars for a while.
- 30:42So yeah. And then and then, and I love
- 30:45your story because I think he came and said, okay, that's it.
- 30:48Yeah, I mean kind. Yeah, I mean.
- 30:50Like he came back to you and said hey.
- 30:52Right. Yes.
- 30:53I mean, yes, that's and, and there was a couple guys that
- 30:58were interested in me that he knew and.
- 31:00Around his meat. Yeah, well, no, we were broke
- 31:03up, so that doesn't. Sniffing around my meat.
- 31:06No, no, we were broke up. And so I think like, he actually
- 31:11got into like a fistfight with one of them at the bar.
- 31:13I wasn't there at the time, but right.
- 31:16I heard about this later on. So yeah.
- 31:18Again sniffing around his meat. Yeah, it didn't belong to him.
- 31:22You already tagged in time you already tagged it.
- 31:24Oh my. So that was that brings up
- 31:26another good topic of conversation.
- 31:28So my wife sent me a little cartoon about and it was a
- 31:31little cartoon figures. And they were talking and this,
- 31:33this, they're they this married couple reaches over and or it's,
- 31:37it's a cartoon. Now remember it's a cartoon.
- 31:38So it's not graphic, But he reaches over and grabs her butt
- 31:42and the cartoon goes, that's my butt, not yours.
- 31:45And the cartoon goes, well, no, we're married.
- 31:47That's mine. And so, so, so anyway that
- 31:53again, I, I absolutely agree with that.
- 31:55I mean, I agree, of course. I mean, it's your hiney, I mean,
- 31:57or it's your body, I mean, and if I, and if I do something that
- 32:01makes you feel uncomfortable, I would absolutely want someone to
- 32:03say, hey, that makes me feel uncomfortable.
- 32:05So, but I was interested to see the comments underneath where
- 32:08people are like, well, no, you're married like, well, like,
- 32:11well that. So I'm, I'm surprised.
- 32:14So there is some division in that I mean.
- 32:17Was that mainly coming from men or women?
- 32:20Well, men number one, well, men and well, it was interesting was
- 32:23men and women were saying right, So, but I, you know, I of
- 32:26course, I got the message from my wife, like don't touch her,
- 32:30but I mean, but don't worry, I get that message every day.
- 32:34So I'm good, I'm good. I'm familiar with the.
- 32:37She was just making sure that you it was confirmed.
- 32:40Like look, look here, I'm not the only one that doesn't like
- 32:44this so. Because she's kind of crazy.
- 32:46So it's like, so like if I if I give her a smooch and grab her
- 32:48butt, she's like, well, I don't. Then she goes.
- 32:51You expect something. Great.
- 32:53So and I'm like, well, I don't always expect something.
- 32:55If I smooch you and grab your butt, I don't always expect it's
- 32:57not that I just want to give you a smooch.
- 32:59But so anyway, that was but I I was still blown away by the
- 33:03comments below. Yes.
- 33:05By by the people, by the men and women saying, yeah, you, you own
- 33:08that. What you know I that's not how
- 33:11you know, that's not how I feel. No, I know that's not how you
- 33:14feel, but. I never felt, never felt that
- 33:17way about. It that's crazy that people were
- 33:20especially men and women both were commenting like, Oh well,
- 33:23that's mine because we're married.
- 33:25Right. Well, I guess you could say that
- 33:26about the guy too. Well, that's my you know, I hear
- 33:28you. You know so.
- 33:29That's not that's not the case. That's crazy.
- 33:33Yeah, it's a weird, it's a weird world we live in.
- 33:35Right. Yeah.
- 33:37Today it's a it's a weird, a weird world that we live in, so.
- 33:40It is. Speaking of weird, let's move on
- 33:42to aliens. All right, let's hear it.
- 33:45What do you got? Did you?
- 33:46Well, did you see former President Barack Obama on that
- 33:51podcast and the podcaster asked him about aliens?
- 33:55And what do you say? Well, he had to go back and, and
- 33:59clarify what he said because in the podcast he, he says that
- 34:05that what did he say? He had to go back and like
- 34:08clarify that he hasn't seen proof.
- 34:10He basically said like he kind of thinks or believes there's
- 34:14aliens on this podcast. And so everybody was like, Oh my
- 34:18God, like he knows he's. And so we have to go back and
- 34:21clarify like I haven't seen proof.
- 34:23I haven't been to Area 51. And so I thought that was
- 34:26hilarious, which I think like, we are so hubris to think like,
- 34:31oh, we're the only intelligent. Life.
- 34:34There like that's just ridiculous to me and there was
- 34:36some guy that was on a podcast and I can't for the life of me
- 34:40think of his name. I've been trying to find him,
- 34:42but he worked in the government and he says like there is proof
- 34:48that there are aliens and we are not the only intelligent life
- 34:53and that the reason. Well we're one of the reasons
- 34:55that they're keeping it from us is because we as people can't we
- 35:00wouldn't be able to handle the fact that we are not the only
- 35:03intelligent life yes. And so that's the other reason
- 35:08that it is being kept from us is because we just we wouldn't be
- 35:11able to process it and. Handle it.
- 35:13What's the humans race number one goal, probably.
- 35:16Like let's go kill the aliens because that's what we do, no.
- 35:19That's what's in the movies. That's the sad thing about
- 35:21human, human beings. I mean, it's like we, for some
- 35:24reason, we just have this need to destroy anything and
- 35:26everything that's not like us. I've always believed so.
- 35:30I took astronomy in college. I loved it.
- 35:32It's one of my favorite classes. I've always felt that I do
- 35:36believe in this infinite universe with a billion planets,
- 35:40there's absolutely got to be some type of life I or some type
- 35:43intelligent life, absolutely. But I also think that the
- 35:46distance is so vast between planets that until someone
- 35:50creates the ability to travel between the world, they may be
- 35:54here. I I would never say that.
- 35:55I never say never. I never say never, but but I
- 35:59also think that if there really were aliens at Area 51, Donald
- 36:02Trump would have spilled those beans.
- 36:03That was. Kind of my fault.
- 36:05Too. Well, same with the JFK thing.
- 36:07He declassified all the. The JFK, he would have sold it
- 36:10to somebody. He would have.
- 36:12There made no doubt that guy, that guy.
- 36:14There's. I love that there's a movie with
- 36:16the president, Book of Secrets or whatever, with national
- 36:18treasure or whatever. Oh, and the book passes down
- 36:21between President, President, I believe that up until Obama, I
- 36:26believe. That and then they.
- 36:27Bushes and Reagan and, and any, you know, the, the, the good
- 36:31Republicans and the good Democrats all the way all the
- 36:34way back in history, right? And then you got then you got a
- 36:36wacko. And I'm like, no, Nope, there's
- 36:39no presidential book because we got a wacko that would just
- 36:42literally spill the secrets because but they.
- 36:44Didn't know but that, but he, no he bragged.
- 36:47About he can't. They didn't brag.
- 36:49I mean, yeah, but going into that first term, we didn't know
- 36:52how. I mean, especially now the
- 36:54second term, we know like he has gone off the deep end.
- 36:57But that first term he was a little bit calmer and tamer and
- 37:01so you wouldn't think. Right.
- 37:04I mean it. Wasn't until after that he like
- 37:07had those classified docks in his bathroom, you know, that
- 37:10kind of stuff. So going into it, you would be
- 37:13like, well, I'm gonna give him this book or this binder.
- 37:16So I'm gonna defend. I will.
- 37:17I'll go with you on that. I'll go with you on that.
- 37:19I'll defend first term. I mean, still cuckoo for Coco
- 37:23puff. Team compared to this term.
- 37:25This term is just off the rails. I'm with you on that.
- 37:28But I also feel that his narcissism, his ego, he would
- 37:34share that information. He just would.
- 37:36Yeah, he just flat would share that information.
- 37:39Right. Because he wants to be right.
- 37:41He wants he wants the notoriety. He wants to be known for it.
- 37:44Yes, especially I think telling like one of these world leaders,
- 37:48you know like Xuji Ping or Putin, I could see him wanting
- 37:52to to tell them because then it would be like, haha, I know this
- 37:56information and you. He's a one.
- 37:58Well, he's A1 Upsman, he's A1 Upspring person.
- 38:01So. So if there was aliens in Area
- 38:0251, he'd absolutely would have already disclosed that.
- 38:05I, I, you know, I don't, I don't think he cares about national
- 38:08security. No.
- 38:10Not or, or, or any of that. Yeah.
- 38:12So I'm with Obama on that. And you know what?
- 38:15I I'm, I'm in the camp that yes, I I just cannot believe in an
- 38:19infinite universe. We're that special.
- 38:22Yes. I just can't.
- 38:24I can't believe we're that unique.
- 38:26We're we're we're here during a certain time.
- 38:28You know, we had dinosaurs before us, different things and
- 38:31and our time will go away. I mean, our time is here now,
- 38:34and that's sad. Makes me I mean, you know, who
- 38:37wouldn't love to live forever? And I I do love overall, I do.
- 38:41I do love humankind and I think humans have a lot to offer and I
- 38:46think we could be a definitely a kinder and better human race if
- 38:49we would just, you know, put the petty.
- 38:51Destroying things, yeah. Well, just the like you said,
- 38:54one upsmanship, I got more money than you or more land.
- 38:57And I mean, I hope, I hope there comes a day we as a human race,
- 39:01you know, can be more enlightened and, and care about
- 39:04everybody and, and for the betterment of mankind and not
- 39:08just to make Jeff Bezos or, or Elon Musk rich.
- 39:11And even for the, the, you know, the poor people to sit there and
- 39:14defend them. Just the most ridiculous shit
- 39:16I've ever heard in my entire life.
- 39:17Yeah, that. Is crazy to me.
- 39:19Well, we're getting ready for what?
- 39:19A millionaire's tax in Washington and people are losing
- 39:22their shit minds over this. And I'm like, really?
- 39:24Well, they're and they're all saying, well, if there's a
- 39:26millionaire sack, that means that everybody's getting taxed.
- 39:29That's not true. No it isn't.
- 39:31You have to make $1,000,000. Yes.
- 39:33Yeah, a year. Yeah.
- 39:35I am so far away from that. I'm good.
- 39:38And they already take enough. I mean, they already take taxes
- 39:40out. My my property taxes actually
- 39:42went down this year. I was surprised by it.
- 39:44That's good. Yeah.
- 39:45So, I mean, I wanted to bitch and moan about it, but I was
- 39:47like, no, I opened it up. Megan was with me, and I'm like,
- 39:50here's the property taxes. All right, Let's see what we got
- 39:53and I looked at I went this is down and so I went and checked
- 39:55our, you know, our mortgage and went Yep, it's down a couple 100
- 39:58bucks so I can't. That's good.
- 40:00I'd love to bitch and moan about it so.
- 40:01Yeah, but now you can't. I know since since Shaylee, you
- 40:05know, is getting her college degree in genetics, I always
- 40:07tease her. She talks about, you know, going
- 40:09to work for the government or whatever.
- 40:10And I'm like, go work at Area 51.
- 40:13You can ride the Janet, which I saw the Janet airplane when we
- 40:17were in Vegas one time on our plane, our plane getting ready
- 40:22to take off. And I was like, Oh my, my God,
- 40:23there's the Janet. I'm like, you can ride the
- 40:25Janet. You can go like find out what's
- 40:28at Area 51. And then she goes mom, but I
- 40:31wouldn't be able to tell you anything, right?
- 40:33Right. So, yeah, so Megan works at PNL
- 40:36and she has national security clearance, right.
- 40:38My wife has my wife has national security clearance.
- 40:40And I joke about, hey, what are you doing today?
- 40:41She goes. I can't tell you.
- 40:42Yeah. And she went through the and she
- 40:45went through the FBI. She had to be vetted because my
- 40:47wife works at PNL. So she's vetted.
- 40:49She's got a whatever level security clearance she's got.
- 40:52And she goes, yeah, yeah, she goes, You can go look at things
- 40:55you're not supposed to be looking at, but you don't want
- 40:57to because then they know you are.
- 40:59Who's going to say they know they're trying to know
- 41:02everything they're doing? They know what you're looking.
- 41:04They know everything. So it's one of those things
- 41:06where. Yeah.
- 41:06So I'm with you, Shaylee. I hear what you're saying and,
- 41:09and, but, but I also believe, like you, Michelle, I think
- 41:12anything's possible. Oh, definitely.
- 41:14And and. Never know.
- 41:16Yeah, but but I also know if I'm an alien, why would I?
- 41:18Why the fuck would I want to share my technology with you
- 41:20bastards? No, I would, you know, maybe
- 41:23touchdown and be like, oh, peace out.
- 41:25And I tried to go find another planet.
- 41:27Like give me yeah, I yeah, we're yeah, we're the we're the worst
- 41:30neighborhood in the in the solar system.
- 41:33Like there's there's some great memes of aliens stop hovering
- 41:37over Earth. Go Nope.
- 41:38Keep moving. Yep, keep on we're.
- 41:40We're the trailer park trash. We're the trailer park trash in
- 41:43the universe basically. Yeah, Speaking of trash, I have
- 41:49discovered a new trashy. I don't know it was trashy, but
- 41:53it's it's one of those like mind numbing shows, kind of like the
- 41:57Real Housewives. But this, my son Matthew
- 42:00recommended it. He's like mom, you.
- 42:02He knows that I like those stupid shows.
- 42:04He's like, mom, you have got to watch the show.
- 42:06It's called Suddenly Amish. It's on TLC.
- 42:08Oh. Yes, I.
- 42:10Have you seen? This I have not watched it but I
- 42:12but I do I yes tell me about it all.
- 42:15My OK, which wasn't the show on MTV where they took the Amish
- 42:21kids that were going on Rum Springa?
- 42:23Yeah, yeah. Wasn't done on MTVI, couldn't
- 42:25remember but. MTV or Tilsa and they get yeah,
- 42:27and they get to decide if they're going to be Amish or
- 42:29not, and they go. Right.
- 42:30And they get to experience, you know, modern stuff basically.
- 42:35So this is kind of reverse opposite of that.
- 42:37It's like English or non Amish people going and staying with
- 42:42the Amish for 21 days and then they have to live like them.
- 42:47And then at the end of the 21 days, then they decide if they
- 42:50want to continue to pursue being Amish.
- 42:53Now the I love so first, so first, I think it's first
- 42:58episode, they go through their bags and one of the girls has a
- 43:01pink vibrator. So they're in this Amish house.
- 43:04And the Amish people? Are they're going through her
- 43:07bags and they find this pink vibrator which is like.
- 43:11Do they take it from her? Yeah, she has to like get rid
- 43:14of. She has to get rid of it
- 43:16because, because and then they asked the Amish.
- 43:20It's like the Amish couple that they're staying with and they
- 43:22ask them first. They ask them, you know, well,
- 43:25do you know, have you ever seen a vibrator before in person?
- 43:29Do you know about them? Like, you know, they're asking
- 43:31them questions like that. Poor Amish people I.
- 43:34Mean, you know, I felt so bad for them because they're just
- 43:37like. Well, they're embarrassed.
- 43:40What's an you know well? Yeah.
- 43:41And then they go on to say, you know, yeah, we believe in self
- 43:45pleasuring is against our, you know, it's duh, it's you can't
- 43:49do it, basically. Yeah, of course.
- 43:52Yeah, so they go on to explain that so that I think that is
- 43:56like episode 1. And I'm like, Oh my God, like
- 43:58this is some great TV. Whoever is whoever thought of
- 44:02this and probably plan to, I don't know, told her to take the
- 44:07Because who takes a vibrator into an Amish household?
- 44:10Like what? Seems like it's set up.
- 44:11It's almost. Like yes, you know it was, but
- 44:13still looking. For a shot of looking for shock
- 44:15value. Yes, but it was still fabulous.
- 44:19And so one of the guys, he's hard of hearing.
- 44:21And so his hearing aids are connected and controlled by his
- 44:25phone. Well, you can't have your phones
- 44:27and they take their phones away. And so now he can't have his
- 44:30hearing aids. He can.
- 44:32He could still hear, but he said it sounds like being underwater.
- 44:36And so it's really hard for him to hear.
- 44:38So he's going through that. Then one of the other guys is
- 44:41divorced and they find out he's divorced.
- 44:44And so being divorced is it's bad.
- 44:48It would, yeah, it's bad. It's I mean, it happens in the
- 44:51Amish community, but it's a very, very rare.
- 44:53And if you do get divorced, you can't remarry.
- 44:57And so he kind of gets chased off of the property by this
- 45:02James guy who's the Amish guy. I the reason that this is
- 45:07happening, not so much because he's divorced, it's because the
- 45:10divorce guy has been flirting, flirting with one of the girls
- 45:14that's there to see if she wants no, just to see if she wants to
- 45:17become Amish, one of the English girls.
- 45:21And so I think the guy that chases him off James, who I
- 45:24don't like, he's definitely the villain of the show.
- 45:28I think he likes the girl that the divorce guy has been
- 45:30flirting with. Then the divorce guy comes back.
- 45:33He decides like no, I'm not going to take this shit.
- 45:37He comes back and then this last episode kind of leaves with him
- 45:42and that girl going on like an Amish type of date.
- 45:46And then it ends with them leaving at night and they have
- 45:51their English clothes on and they're going, they went to like
- 45:55the motel. That's where like this last
- 45:58episode left. And I'm like, Oh my God.
- 46:00And then the Amish guy for the preview, it shows him putting on
- 46:04his clothes and going, there's only like 1 motel near this
- 46:08town. And he's like knocking on their
- 46:10door. Like I don't like, Oh my God,
- 46:12whoever like scripted this show or whatever, this is fabulous.
- 46:17Like I am hooked. I am hooked.
- 46:19Oh, and then his cousin, so James the villain Amish guy, his
- 46:23cousin Emma is also there. I don't know if they're like
- 46:26first cousins or they're they're just cousins, but this last
- 46:31episode it showed him like sneaking into like her room at
- 46:35night. And I'm which leading up to
- 46:37that, there have been some weird, just weird stuff between
- 46:40them. They're like, I wouldn't talk to
- 46:43my cousin like that or yeah, it's just weird flirty.
- 46:47I don't. It was just like, I don't know
- 46:49if they're really cousins but like I am hooked and love this
- 46:55show. Yeah, what's the show called?
- 46:57It's bananas. It's called suddenly Amish.
- 46:59It's on TLC. Pulling this up because I got to
- 47:01take a look at Oh it's on TLC. Yeah, I get excited when we're
- 47:04talking about, my gosh, I'm like, I'm, I'm like hook, line
- 47:08and sinker into the show. It's from 2013.
- 47:11No, no, there's a new show. That's not it then.
- 47:14OK, hang on. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 47:15That's breaking Amish. Remember?
- 47:16I remember breaking. Remember breaking Amish?
- 47:18Yes. And then wasn't there like the
- 47:19Amish mafia one? Yeah, because they like to
- 47:22gamble and stuff like. Yeah, you're suddenly Amish.
- 47:26Yes. So yeah, how many episodes are
- 47:28in 5? Yes, 55 just like aired last
- 47:32night that I watched. So the evil one just aired.
- 47:35Yeah. Evil 1 Bishop Vernon has a
- 47:38radical solution that's never been tried to offer six
- 47:40outsiders the opportunity to join his community and become
- 47:43Amish Tuesday. Which when I first.
- 47:46Saw the show. What the like I'm looking at
- 47:49this like he's all ghetto fied coming into the Amish community
- 47:53and like what? Yeah, I think I start growing
- 47:55the beards and stuff. I.
- 47:56Don't you know Well, no, you can't grow a beard and let until
- 47:59you're married. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:02It's crazy which that the African American guy, he like
- 48:06this this coming up episode, they all go to church and he's
- 48:10like, I was the only black person there, which there are
- 48:14black people in the Amish community.
- 48:16But in the group that he's in there, he ended up being the
- 48:20only one at the church. So yeah, yeah.
- 48:22But I think his mom comes to like take him home.
- 48:27It's on a like preview of of an upcoming episode, so.
- 48:31Yeah, I don't think he's going to make it basically or.
- 48:33I don't, well, I don't want to spill.
- 48:35He's he has a secret that he needs to tell them that is not
- 48:38going to be. It's not something that the
- 48:42Amish are open to, so let's so to speak.
- 48:46I don't know what. He's got a bunch of girlfriends
- 48:49or. No, you.
- 48:51Don't want to? You don't want.
- 48:53To I don't want to spill it for you.
- 48:55You. I got to leave something for you
- 48:56to watch. I basically like spilled
- 48:58everything else. God, I was like, but I was like,
- 49:01yeah, but I I need to talk to somebody about this Matthew.
- 49:04And I've been texting about it when I first saw this, the
- 49:07preview for the show. I'm like, these people are not,
- 49:10they cannot be really Amish because Amish people don't allow
- 49:13themselves to be filmed or taken their picture of.
- 49:18So I'm like, these people can't really be Amish, so.
- 49:24I know. Now, remember, there are
- 49:26factions of Amish too. They're not just all.
- 49:29Yeah, so. They're not like the strict,
- 49:31yeah. Right there are they're varying
- 49:33degrees because I think yes, believe it or not, I think
- 49:35there's some Amish that might even have a phone in their
- 49:37house. Yes.
- 49:38For for emergencies or something.
- 49:40I mean, right, yeah, I think that there's varying levels of
- 49:43being Amish. Now don't quote me, I'm not an
- 49:45expert by any. Means no.
- 49:46There are because Matthew and I were texting because the cousin,
- 49:49the girl cousin, which one of the other girls she has like the
- 49:54fake nails and the eyelashes and she's having a real problem like
- 50:00get taking them off and they won't they won't.
- 50:04Well, one of the girls won't help her get dressed in
- 50:07traditional Amish clothing until she gets rid of them.
- 50:10And so it just kind of shows her going through this whole like,
- 50:13this is my identity. This is how society makes us
- 50:16feel as women like we have to have these nails and these
- 50:19eyelashes. So she's really struggling with
- 50:21getting rid of them. And then she she finally does.
- 50:26And in the like, independent interviews, I notice Emma, the
- 50:31cousin, like her nails. There's no paint on them, but
- 50:35they look like they're kind of like they have either acrylic on
- 50:40them or something. I mean, because I know what they
- 50:43look like as a girl and I'm like, she like her nails are not
- 50:48like a normal, just a normal fingernail look.
- 50:52So I'm like, like, if they can't have nails, why does she have
- 50:57this on? And so I'm texting Matthew this.
- 50:59I'm like, what? Why the hell this girl Emma got,
- 51:02you know, she obviously has some kind of nails, but they're
- 51:05trying to make it look like she doesn't because they're not
- 51:08obviously painted or anything. And he's like, well, he's like
- 51:12my friends and I like did some digging and he's like she she
- 51:17only dresses Amish like she lives the English life, but she
- 51:20only dresses Amish when she goes to visit her parents.
- 51:23And then the James the villain guy, like he is trying to get
- 51:27back into good standings with the church and that's why he's
- 51:30doing this. But Matthew's like, yeah, I, we
- 51:33like read that he's not really trying to get back into the
- 51:36Amish church. And then the two, the married
- 51:39couple that they're living with are actually Mennonites.
- 51:41They're not really Amish. And I'm like, thank.
- 51:44You Mennonites with Mennonites, I'm like.
- 51:46OK, yeah, yeah, OK. This makes sense then.
- 51:48Because I'm like, yeah, because Amish people wouldn't agree to
- 51:51be filmed, photographed. Well, there's liberal, there's
- 51:55liberal sets of it or whatever. Yes, yeah.
- 51:58So so yeah, that's what I discovered because I was drawn
- 52:02in hook, line and sinker and I was going down the rabbit hole
- 52:04with this whole show. Yeah, well, now I'm going to
- 52:06have some homework because I'm going to have to go check out
- 52:08this show. Yeah, going to have to check it
- 52:10out. And this is going to be
- 52:12interesting, so. Yeah, I mean, I don't know if
- 52:15you'll like it, but aren't. Aren't you into the Mormon wives
- 52:18as well? Yes.
- 52:19I know what you've got Too much, Michelle.
- 52:22You got too much time on your hands, girl.
- 52:23I don't know. Or either that or you love you
- 52:26love drama. I mean, yeah.
- 52:28And I love like mindless TV that you just kind of sit there.
- 52:32I don't want to have to try to figure it out or I but I do like
- 52:36watching Paradise with Sterling K Brown and that's kind of a you
- 52:40have to think kind of thing. But so I do like some shows like
- 52:44that but. Hard time, I Yeah.
- 52:47Yeah, I just like the crazy drama.
- 52:51I mean, whoever scripted this show, it's not reality reality,
- 52:54but it is fun, right? It's fun to watch.
- 52:56There's some fakery in there, like when I watch when I watch
- 52:59Pawn Stars. Yes, yeah.
- 53:02Or storage wars. They were like they were
- 53:05planting this stuff. Yeah.
- 53:06Yeah, they were. Ended up, they were planting
- 53:08Well, of course. What?
- 53:09Of course you have to make it interesting.
- 53:10So, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you know, I would do that.
- 53:12I would do the same thing, you know, So suddenly Amish Tuesday
- 53:16nights on TLC. Yeah, they got they got a a
- 53:19shameless plug. Yeah, this this episode brought
- 53:23you by Suddenly Amish by. TLC, which we're almost at like
- 53:26an hour already. Oh my gosh.
- 53:28We didn't get to talk about the Olympics.
- 53:30We didn't get to talk about. So, Guthrie, there's so much.
- 53:34Such a such a list and I would love to talk about Savannah
- 53:38Guthrie's mom, but I don't want to end the podcast on a down
- 53:41note like that. So hopefully when we come back,
- 53:43hopefully when we come back next week, we'll have more
- 53:46information about it. So I know when it first
- 53:49happened, I thought that maybe she sadly had wandered off and
- 53:52passed away. Now there's so much other stuff
- 53:55coming out. So I'm curious to see what the,
- 53:58but I still don't think there's going to be a good resolution
- 54:00for this at this time. But that's just me.
- 54:02I'm optimist, optimist. Yeah, when you hear some of the
- 54:08yes, when you hear some of the FBI profilers that or
- 54:11negotiators and you know, the the people that deal with this
- 54:15day in and day out that have all the knowledge that you and I
- 54:17don't have. Yeah, a lot of them are saying
- 54:20the likelihood that she's alive is slim based on statistics, so.
- 54:24Law of averages, law of law of averages, well, and just for
- 54:27age, medical needs, yeah, different things like that.
- 54:30I think that that plays a big, big part in there so.
- 54:34OK, we weren't supposed to end on a down note we're talking
- 54:37about. But we will.
- 54:39So that gives, you know, hey, we'll talk about it on the next
- 54:41podcast and we'll talk are the Olympics wrapped up on the next
- 54:44podcast too? I think they will be wrapped up
- 54:48by then, so yeah. I will tell you before we go
- 54:51about that, I did have a favorite.
- 54:53For what? For figure skating.
- 54:56Figure skater Ilia. Is it Ilia?
- 54:59Oh yeah, the quad. God, yeah, I did want to talk
- 55:01about that. He like, but he like.
- 55:04He fell twice during his performance.
- 55:06I know. I was so sad.
- 55:07I love. Him, I think he's great, great
- 55:09kid. He's he's what 8th?
- 55:12He was 8th. I guess yes now don't feel bad.
- 55:16He's already got a bunch of gold for other things.
- 55:18So don't don't start crying for him.
- 55:20But what an amazing talent. And I think some people were
- 55:24saying that he's so young that when he comes back again.
- 55:29In four years. In four years he's going to be
- 55:31well, He's already incredible. Yeah, he's won everything else
- 55:35basically possible for figure. Skating, but not but not that
- 55:39one. Yes.
- 55:40Not that one. And he's amazing.
- 55:42Yeah, he's a great personality. I love him in the interviews,
- 55:45he's adorable. So yeah.
- 55:47But the women's competition is I think was happening today while
- 55:51we're we are recording this podcast.
- 55:53So yeah. Yeah, he he's one of my faves.
- 55:56I love, I love his story. I think he's absolutely
- 55:58fantastic. And he did get gold in the team
- 56:02events. He got gold for the team event,
- 56:05but not individual. So and then of course that
- 56:08quadruple axle is what? Yeah, he's the quad guy.
- 56:12That's why he's called Guy. Who's ever accomplished that?
- 56:14Ever. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:15So Yep. Yeah, that's why he's declared
- 56:18God. Yeah, it's amazing.
- 56:20No, I've I've watched him a lot. I really enjoyed watching him,
- 56:23his performance. I'm a I'm a I'm a fan.
- 56:25He's. Awesome.
- 56:26Yeah, so. There you go.
- 56:28We we did the Olympics there. We got it in WE.
- 56:31Got some, not not enough of the I still have a lot more to talk
- 56:34about. We didn't talk about curling,
- 56:36the drama and curling. Oh my God, we didn't talk about
- 56:40that. OK, well there there's the
- 56:42cliffhanger. That's it for today's episode of
