- 0:04Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief. Your
- 0:08weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
- 0:12ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Wednesday,
- 0:16November 26, 2025. Let's get you caught up. Sacramento
- 0:20police had their hands full with two separate
- 0:23incidents on Monday. Just after 10 a .m., officers
- 0:26were called to I Street and Alhambra Boulevard.
- 0:29after reports of a man swinging a machete. Officers
- 0:33quickly detained the suspect, who turned out
- 0:36to be on parole. They also found drug paraphernalia
- 0:40and later linked him to recent robbery. He was
- 0:43arrested on multiple related charges. And while
- 0:47officers were wrapping up that scene, South Command
- 0:50units were dealing with a different kind of chase.
- 0:52Around 2 .08 p .m. on Freeport Boulevard, officers
- 0:56were investigating a burglary when they contacted
- 0:59two individuals. One suspect tried to run, but
- 1:03was caught almost immediately. Officers say the
- 1:06suspect had narcotics on them and were arrested
- 1:09on related charges. All right, Sacramento, as
- 1:13we roll into Thanksgiving. full of turkey pie,
- 1:17and maybe that one relative you only tolerate
- 1:19annually. Sac Metro Fire wants to make sure the
- 1:23only thing that's getting roasted is the bird.
- 1:27Here's the deal. Thanksgiving is the number one
- 1:29day for cooking fires, and the number one cause?
- 1:33Folks wandering off from the kitchen like their
- 1:35stuffing's going to stir itself. So a few quick
- 1:39reminders. Stay in the kitchen. Keep a lid handy.
- 1:44Set a timer so your mac and cheese doesn't turn
- 1:47into a crime scene. If you're sleepy or have
- 1:52already started sampling those holiday cocktails,
- 1:55this is not the time to play Top Shelf. So, keep
- 1:59the kids back from the stove, keep cords tucked
- 2:02in, and please, for the love of gravy, do not
- 2:06deep fry a frozen turkey. This is how you get
- 2:11instant fireworks that you didn't order. So if
- 2:15something does flare up in case of an oven flyer,
- 2:18you turn off the oven, keep that door closed.
- 2:22If it's a small grease fire, slide a lid over
- 2:26the pan. Do not put water on a grease fire. It
- 2:30will spread immediately into a disaster. So anything
- 2:35bigger than your comfort level, just get out
- 2:37and call 911 from outside. Sat metro fire says
- 2:42may your turkey be juicy your family be peaceful
- 2:44and your kitchen stay flame free Today's weather
- 2:50we're gonna have more of that heavy fog in the
- 2:52morning. They estimated it should burn off by
- 2:54about 11 noon Hopefully we get to see some sunshine
- 2:58in a high of 58. We'll see what happens with
