Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfake, go to roll right, jumps it off
- 0:07Speaker 1: into the right class to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off
- 0:09Speaker 1: on one tackler cats inside the forty down of the
- 0:12Speaker 1: thirty five yard line. Powered by seahawks dot Com, Matt
- 0:15Speaker 1: pump fakes looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 1: into the end zone. Touchdown. Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpers
- 0:21Speaker 1: with a diving catch in the end zone. A ten
- 0:24Speaker 1: yard touchdown reception for Bumpus, and the kid out of
- 0:27Speaker 1: Washington State has found himself a place on this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, NASA Chubby. Welcome into another edition
- 0:36Speaker 1: of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks fall into the Buccaneers twenty
- 0:39Speaker 1: one to sixteen in Munich, Germany, not the result the
- 0:42Speaker 1: Seahawks wanted. It was a fun week though across the pond.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie about that, but it was exhausting
- 0:47Speaker 1: because let me tell you something, Me and my guy
- 0:49Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus were working, working who It was fun work though,
- 0:55Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But it doesn't you can't
- 0:57Speaker 1: ignore the fact that your body, body needs rest and
- 1:01Speaker 1: it responds when it doesn't get rest. Oh, no question
- 1:04Speaker 1: about it. We can talk about it because we didn't
- 1:05Speaker 1: play in the game or anything like that. But we left.
- 1:08Speaker 1: We left on Wednesday at about one and then travel
- 1:10Speaker 1: for about a full day, then got away over to
- 1:13Speaker 1: the pub in Germany. The Seahawks took over the August
- 1:15Speaker 1: Steiner Steiner Stamhouse that we took over for a little
- 1:19Speaker 1: bit there. Then Bumping Winman host the Bumping Station Show
- 1:22Speaker 1: for two days. Tons of player interviews, practice different pub events.
- 1:27Speaker 1: But it was fun time. Lots of sea aall legends
- 1:29Speaker 1: out there, Jordan Babnor, Ray Roberts, Robert Turbin, loaf Lee,
- 1:34Speaker 1: Roy Heater, all the dudes were out there and it
- 1:36Speaker 1: was fun. Bum Yeah, it was good. It was nice
- 1:39Speaker 1: connecting with those guys. Again, a lot of those guys
- 1:41Speaker 1: I played, but actually I think all those dudes I
- 1:43Speaker 1: played with except for maybe one of two. Nice connecting
- 1:46Speaker 1: and just enjoying a moment in NFL history as well
- 1:49Speaker 1: as Seahall history. It was It definitely was a moment. Unfortunately,
- 1:52Speaker 1: the goat got us. The goat guts a little bit,
- 1:55Speaker 1: so let's hop into that. What had happened. See what happened.
- 1:58Speaker 1: At first, what had happened was unknock. Seahawks were riding
- 2:04Speaker 1: high and a four game win streak that finally came
- 2:07Speaker 1: to an end unfortunately, and a hard fought, disappointing loss
- 2:09Speaker 1: to the Buccaneers and Germany. Like we said, during the
- 2:12Speaker 1: win streak, the Seahawks were beaten inpements by ten points
- 2:14Speaker 1: at least over that four game span. So they were
- 2:17Speaker 1: playing really good football and I don't think the travel
- 2:19Speaker 1: affected them. I just think they didn't execute. I think
- 2:21Speaker 1: that was the difference. I think the Buccaneers had a
- 2:23Speaker 1: good game plan and they executed, and that was kind
- 2:25Speaker 1: of the main difference in the game that I saw
- 2:27Speaker 1: from my vantage point in the office. Didn't look like
- 2:30Speaker 1: its normal self. First half. They punted on each of
- 2:32Speaker 1: their five possessions. They only had fifty seven yards total
- 2:36Speaker 1: yards and ran twenty plays in the first half. That's
- 2:38Speaker 1: not what we've seen lately. They had not been shut
- 2:40Speaker 1: out since the San Francisco game in Week two, so
- 2:43Speaker 1: definitely was a rough start the Seahawks had to try
- 2:45Speaker 1: to come back from. YEP. Tough for the Seahawks, But
- 2:48Speaker 1: on the other side, Tom Brady and them boys look
- 2:51Speaker 1: good man. They have back to back drive of thirteen
- 2:53Speaker 1: plays going eighty eight and eighty six yards in the
- 2:56Speaker 1: first half of the Bucks had two and eight yards
- 2:58Speaker 1: a total offense, and then bull the amount of plays
- 3:01Speaker 1: by the Seahawks. They go into a ton of one
- 3:04Speaker 1: a half time and it's fourteen year zero second half.
- 3:06Speaker 1: The Hawks come out and you see little life right.
- 3:08Speaker 1: They start working the ball down in the field. They
- 3:10Speaker 1: throw at four times. I had to settle four field goal,
- 3:12Speaker 1: making a fourteen to three. But you saw where they
- 3:15Speaker 1: were going. They gave you some hope and things change
- 3:18Speaker 1: us a little bit. Yeah, you know, they got two completions,
- 3:21Speaker 1: will die right off the bat, DK Tyler and then
- 3:23Speaker 1: they kind of stalled, But like you said, they got
- 3:24Speaker 1: three points on the next drive of the Buccaneers continue
- 3:27Speaker 1: to march down the field because they were able to
- 3:28Speaker 1: run the football, and they continue to do that on
- 3:30Speaker 1: that possession, and then they decided to run a little
- 3:33Speaker 1: trick play Lennon Fournette, little WILDCAF formation, Tom Brady out wide.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Fournette decides to throw a pass that is picked off
- 3:39Speaker 1: by Tariq Win going against Tom Brady on one coverage.
- 3:42Speaker 1: We're gonna break that down further in the coach's corner
- 3:45Speaker 1: because as much flak as Bryan Leftwood is getting and
- 3:48Speaker 1: the Buccaneers are getting for even making that call, which
- 3:50Speaker 1: I tend to agree with, probably unnecessary, but we'll break
- 3:53Speaker 1: down why it wasn't as bad as you think. And
- 3:55Speaker 1: Tarik Willen is just a man among boys doing things
- 3:58Speaker 1: that veterans do, even though he's a rookie. And after that,
- 4:01Speaker 1: you know, the Hawks would take the ball off that turnover,
- 4:04Speaker 1: go ten play, seventy one yards. They're best driver of
- 4:06Speaker 1: the day. But unfortunately Geno Smith on a QB draw
- 4:10Speaker 1: fumbled the football and the Seahawks got zero points. And
- 4:13Speaker 1: it's probably was one of the biggest players in the
- 4:14Speaker 1: football game. Yeah, I think it is the biggest play
- 4:18Speaker 1: they score right there, it's ten to fourteen and maybe
- 4:20Speaker 1: the Bucks feel a little more pressure in the play
- 4:22Speaker 1: calling is different. Well, that's not what happened the Bucks.
- 4:25Speaker 1: When eleven plays eighty seven yards, Chris Goblin got a
- 4:28Speaker 1: four yard touchdown and it was a questionable play because
- 4:31Speaker 1: it appearod there was an offensive PI on the other
- 4:33Speaker 1: side of the field. The resting call it and I
- 4:36Speaker 1: believe was a discount some of the game referees. Don't
- 4:39Speaker 1: ever question a referee. They're not gonna give you a
- 4:41Speaker 1: straight up answer, and that was a questionable thing. Now
- 4:44Speaker 1: when they scored and made to score twenty one to three,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and it looked like the Hawks has some life in them,
- 4:50Speaker 1: it looked like that they were gonna make this the
- 4:52Speaker 1: interesting wish they did they would go five play seventy
- 4:55Speaker 1: seven yards and into what a touchdown to Tyler Lockett
- 4:58Speaker 1: went for two right there, so they would be ten
- 5:00Speaker 1: instead of eleven. But that failed. Yeah, that was tough.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I mean, granted, great to see on the drive, that
- 5:07Speaker 1: was a big conversion and teen to talk about big
- 5:08Speaker 1: plays in the game, because the difference between a field
- 5:11Speaker 1: goal touchdown versing having to score two touchdowns is a
- 5:14Speaker 1: completely different vibe and when you're calling plays. But on
- 5:16Speaker 1: the next drive, our guy Cody Barton made a first
- 5:19Speaker 1: career interception against the goat Tom Brady. So I'm hoping
- 5:23Speaker 1: k and equipment staff was able to keep that football
- 5:25Speaker 1: for the young man because that is a career moment.
- 5:27Speaker 1: That's something you can tell your kids about for the
- 5:29Speaker 1: rest of your life. That I picked off Tom Brady
- 5:31Speaker 1: in the first every game in Germany, Hawks will take
- 5:34Speaker 1: that answer again, converting on two huge fourth downs, including
- 5:37Speaker 1: one to Tyler Lockett, and then finish on a fourth
- 5:39Speaker 1: and one to markis Goodwin in the end zone, making
- 5:42Speaker 1: to score twenty one sixteen. Now bump. When we were
- 5:44Speaker 1: watching the game for fans perspective, it's not like a
- 5:47Speaker 1: normal press box, not a normal radio booth. You're kind
- 5:50Speaker 1: of outside in the elements, fans are around you. Everyone's
- 5:52Speaker 1: kind of out in the open, and it looked pretty
- 5:54Speaker 1: bleak at twenty one to three. But at this point
- 5:56Speaker 1: twenty one sixteen, the Seahawks have time remaining. Bump. We
- 5:59Speaker 1: looked at each other were like, Okay, we might be
- 6:02Speaker 1: doing it. We might be doing it. Yeah. But the
- 6:08Speaker 1: dang Buccaneers did exactly what they were supposed to do,
- 6:12Speaker 1: going a nice little four minute drill that means they
- 6:14Speaker 1: take their time. They moved methodically down the field and
- 6:17Speaker 1: the Hawks just weren't able to stop them. The Bucks
- 6:19Speaker 1: finished with four into nineteen yards, ran seventy four plays,
- 6:22Speaker 1: and went ten for fifteen on third downs. The Hawks
- 6:26Speaker 1: were one for nine on the downs and lost the
- 6:29Speaker 1: time of possession thirty six minutes to twenty three minutes.
- 6:32Speaker 1: They were bat on third downs, they didn't convert on
- 6:35Speaker 1: a turnover, and they were out possessed around thirteen minutes.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yet they still found a way to keep it interesting
- 6:42Speaker 1: and kept us there, kept us on the edge of
- 6:44Speaker 1: our seats until about the minute thirty left in the game. Yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: that was tough. You're really hoping they could get a
- 6:48Speaker 1: third down stopping on that final drive. They didn't even
- 6:51Speaker 1: get him into a third down, which was tough, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and I think that and Pete Carroll talked about it
- 6:56Speaker 1: as press conference today. That's just you know, that's how
- 6:58Speaker 1: the Seahawks weren't win FOOTBA game. So disappointing the unfortunately
- 7:01Speaker 1: the Bucks were able to get it done. But knowing
- 7:04Speaker 1: saying that there was a lot of people who made plays,
- 7:10Speaker 1: playmakers Gene no Smith. Now, when you look at the
- 7:22Speaker 1: stat sheet and you watched the game and everything how
- 7:24Speaker 1: the game unfolded, you would think he didn't play his
- 7:26Speaker 1: best game, and he didn't. It didn't seem like the
- 7:28Speaker 1: offense was in sync at the beginning of the game.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But they found a way to make it interesting. They
- 7:32Speaker 1: kept the Seahawks in it. Bump and if you're gonna
- 7:34Speaker 1: tell me that's the worst game we've seen from Gino
- 7:37Speaker 1: Smith this season, are you kidding me? I'll take that
- 7:40Speaker 1: every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Yeah.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Twenty three thirty three, two hundred and seventy five yards,
- 7:46Speaker 1: two touchdowns, four carries, twenty two yards. QB rating of
- 7:49Speaker 1: one fifteen. You know what I'm saying. So he now
- 7:53Speaker 1: has eight games with multiple passing touchdowns, where you only
- 7:56Speaker 1: had seven in the first nine career seasons. So it's
- 7:58Speaker 1: crazy what he's on in. Like I said, at the
- 8:00Speaker 1: end of that game, he kept his team in it.
- 8:03Speaker 1: You could there's a rhythm there. They went up tempo,
- 8:05Speaker 1: there was stuff that they've been successful with earlier in
- 8:07Speaker 1: the year. So I equated to like a pitcher in
- 8:10Speaker 1: baseball who doesn't have his best stuff or something's not
- 8:13Speaker 1: working earlier in the game, but the really good ones
- 8:16Speaker 1: find a way to weather the storm early on and
- 8:18Speaker 1: give you a chance to your team or a chance
- 8:20Speaker 1: to come back and win the football game. That's exactly
- 8:22Speaker 1: what Gino did, and despite struggling a little in the
- 8:24Speaker 1: first half, I thought he played really well in the
- 8:26Speaker 1: second half and kept the Seahawks in it. No, I agree,
- 8:29Speaker 1: man twenty three or thirty three. I mean that's Danier
- 8:32Speaker 1: seventy percent of his passes two touchdowns. That's that's a
- 8:34Speaker 1: geno type of day. Two seventy five two touchdowns. If
- 8:38Speaker 1: the run game got going, you never know what could happen.
- 8:41Speaker 1: So now I'll take that from Gineou every week, and
- 8:44Speaker 1: if we do, we're going to the playoffs easily. Next
- 8:47Speaker 1: playmaker DK Metcalfe had six receptions for seventy one yards.
- 8:52Speaker 1: He was the most consistent guy out there. Did you
- 8:55Speaker 1: get a flag talking to a referee? Apparently you can't
- 8:58Speaker 1: say you or point at him when you were talking
- 9:00Speaker 1: to Hurt Free. He took that personal. But other than that, man,
- 9:03Speaker 1: DK did enough to keep these guys in the game
- 9:07Speaker 1: early and then in that third quarter two I think
- 9:10Speaker 1: that's when he had the bulk of his receptions. But no,
- 9:13Speaker 1: another another DK date just didn't score a touchdown. Yeah,
- 9:16Speaker 1: he was playing. I mean what I loved about it
- 9:18Speaker 1: is he was aggressive and he was into the game.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And if we could have found a way to sustain drives,
- 9:23Speaker 1: I think that production is completely doubled because he was
- 9:27Speaker 1: the only guy finding ways to get open consistently in
- 9:30Speaker 1: the Tampa Bay defensive backs. I feel like they were
- 9:32Speaker 1: lucky in the sense of the Sehawks couldn't stay on
- 9:35Speaker 1: the field and third down because he was doing what
- 9:37Speaker 1: he wanted to do. Reception wise, Tyre Lockett three receptions
- 9:40Speaker 1: forty two yards in touchdown didn't do a whole lot.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I had three receptions on I believe five targets, but
- 9:45Speaker 1: he didn't have that one big touchdown to keep him
- 9:47Speaker 1: in the game. Marky's Goodwin. Two receptions thirty eight yards
- 9:50Speaker 1: and the one big touchdown on fourth down. Markis Goodwin.
- 9:54Speaker 1: We got to you guys, had the opportunity to talk
- 9:56Speaker 1: to him post game, live and in person. And number one,
- 9:59Speaker 1: his fit is on point fit all white November. Oh, Mark,
- 10:03Speaker 1: He's Goodwin, knows how to dressed boy. But no, it
- 10:05Speaker 1: was fun to hear his perspective and what it meant
- 10:07Speaker 1: for him to score that touchdown, knowing everything he's been
- 10:10Speaker 1: through with his family and the kid that they lost,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and for him to get that. It's just really cool
- 10:13Speaker 1: to see because he's really good dude. Yeah, it shared
- 10:16Speaker 1: a story. It was the post game was more like
- 10:19Speaker 1: just a celebration of players and the opportunity just to
- 10:23Speaker 1: play ball, you know what I mean. And Marky's good
- 10:27Speaker 1: was a was a big part of that. Some other
- 10:30Speaker 1: ballers you've got. Jordan Brooks had another good day defensively,
- 10:33Speaker 1: fourteen tackles, one TfL, one pass defended, big third down.
- 10:36Speaker 1: He got pushed on a PI. They just did not
- 10:38Speaker 1: call it Millifield. He gets pushed, but he keeps his composure.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Then Cody Barton nine tackles, one interception, one pass defended.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Probably Cody Barton's best game of the year. People have
- 10:48Speaker 1: been critical of this dude, but he's to stay. As
- 10:49Speaker 1: of course. Another good story. We met his girlfriend and
- 10:53Speaker 1: she is just a ball of energy. So we got
- 10:55Speaker 1: to share stories with Cody. I think that was again
- 10:58Speaker 1: the theme of the post game, right just getting to
- 11:00Speaker 1: know these dudes, no question. Another guy that you guys
- 11:04Speaker 1: had the opportunity to the interview with Trick One. That
- 11:06Speaker 1: was the second time that week that you had talked
- 11:08Speaker 1: to him, and he had three tackles to win interception
- 11:11Speaker 1: on Tom Brady, which is great to see. He's just consistent,
- 11:13Speaker 1: he's doing his thing, he's playing good football. And before
- 11:16Speaker 1: we get in the roundup, bump at a question, So
- 11:18Speaker 1: it's come up a lot of I'm looking at it.
- 11:20Speaker 1: The field was a problem. Both teams had to play
- 11:22Speaker 1: on it, so there's I'm not saying that as an excuse,
- 11:25Speaker 1: but the field was a problem from your playing days.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I know there's been a big topic of conversation field
- 11:31Speaker 1: turf verse grass. Now, field turf in the long term
- 11:33Speaker 1: can be hard on guy's bodies, knees, ankles, that kind
- 11:36Speaker 1: of thing. But you know what you're gonna get nine
- 11:39Speaker 1: nine percent of time, this is natural striff. There's field turf, grass,
- 11:42Speaker 1: There's a lot of variables. The really good fields. Yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 1: you probably want to play on grass, but I don't
- 11:46Speaker 1: know what you feel about the grass conditions to Munich
- 11:48Speaker 1: and what you'd prefer to play on. Yeah, the conditions
- 11:52Speaker 1: were not great. That phil was built for soccer. It
- 11:55Speaker 1: wasn't built for football. I even had to look up
- 11:58Speaker 1: the difference between the grass in Europe and the grass
- 12:02Speaker 1: we use out here in football. So they use something
- 12:04Speaker 1: called perennial rye grass, and it's it's different. They say
- 12:08Speaker 1: it's durable, but it's not the most durable out here.
- 12:10Speaker 1: We use a couple of them, blue grass, perennial and
- 12:14Speaker 1: then there's also was a Bermuda. It's what we use
- 12:17Speaker 1: and it's it's a lot more firm and you can
- 12:20Speaker 1: beat it up a bit more. So those are just
- 12:22Speaker 1: the facts. I'm just throwing it out there that the
- 12:25Speaker 1: turf was different. Okay, they're not used to that, and
- 12:28Speaker 1: I'm a grass guy myself. I just I like to give.
- 12:31Speaker 1: But the problem with the turf we saw there was
- 12:33Speaker 1: too much give. You know, they're not used to they're
- 12:36Speaker 1: starting the stop of a football game. They're used to
- 12:39Speaker 1: the ever flowing soccer game where you're sliding on it
- 12:42Speaker 1: and you're not necessarily going ninety degrees left and right
- 12:45Speaker 1: and all that stuff. So both teams out to play
- 12:48Speaker 1: on it. You know. But if the NFL does want
- 12:50Speaker 1: to go to Spain in France, like we're hearing, I
- 12:52Speaker 1: think they have to either bring their own turf with
- 12:54Speaker 1: them or make deals with these stadiums, no question about it.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I think one place sit out when I thought out
- 13:00Speaker 1: of that. With Jordan Bricks also, big third down later
- 13:02Speaker 1: in the game and he slips it clearly falls and
- 13:05Speaker 1: it's a turf. You know, people would say, well, it
- 13:06Speaker 1: was an athlete. You've got to stay on your toes
- 13:08Speaker 1: and different cuts and stuff like that, but it was
- 13:10Speaker 1: hard to see. And like you said, the Bucks played
- 13:11Speaker 1: in it too. It's not where the Seahawks lost. But
- 13:14Speaker 1: it's one of those things when you play games, when
- 13:15Speaker 1: you have these millionaires playing, when you have all the
- 13:17Speaker 1: work that goes into a game. I don't like ever
- 13:20Speaker 1: having the conditions outside of weather or snow have anything
- 13:24Speaker 1: to do with anything. Right. These guys are too good,
- 13:27Speaker 1: too skilled. Do you want to see them battle it
- 13:29Speaker 1: out as they do? We kind of talked about a
- 13:32Speaker 1: little bit orould you see out of these receivers on
- 13:34Speaker 1: Sunday Receivers DK. We talked about him. He was the
- 13:39Speaker 1: most efficient guy out there. Six receptions seventy one yards.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker had fifty five yards, so that's another game
- 13:45Speaker 1: with him having over a hundred yards of total offense.
- 13:47Speaker 1: He had no actually he did. Man, he had ten
- 13:50Speaker 1: carres for seventeen yards, so he didn't reach under but
- 13:53Speaker 1: reception why he had six or fifty five? Tyler Lockett
- 13:56Speaker 1: three for forty two, talked about him. Marquis Guilden had
- 13:58Speaker 1: two for thirty eight, a big touchdown. Noah Fan had
- 14:01Speaker 1: three for fifteen. Uncle Will two for fifteen and Kolbe
- 14:04Speaker 1: one for seven. Thing that popps up there. Just the
- 14:06Speaker 1: tight ends, we didn't get as much as we usually
- 14:08Speaker 1: get out of those guys. They did have the targets four, two,
- 14:12Speaker 1: and three, so nine out of the three a three average,
- 14:15Speaker 1: But yeah, we just didn't really get what we're used
- 14:18Speaker 1: to getting out of those dudes. Yeah, we didn't see
- 14:20Speaker 1: as much the thirteen personnel as we've seen previously, and
- 14:23Speaker 1: you can tell by the production. I feel like the
- 14:25Speaker 1: Seahawks tight ends have been averaging around eight receptions for
- 14:28Speaker 1: one hundred yards, so hopefully we can get back to
- 14:29Speaker 1: that in the next matchup after the Seahawks take this
- 14:32Speaker 1: bye week. Let's hop into the coach's corner we talked
- 14:34Speaker 1: about a little bit earlier. We say, we get back
- 14:36Speaker 1: to it. It's Tarik Woolen picking off Leonard Fournette against
- 14:40Speaker 1: Tom Brady. Yeah, I know it sounds weird, but that's
- 14:42Speaker 1: what happened in Munich. Another Wildcats snap and picked off
- 14:47Speaker 1: four that throws the ball he did throw back to
- 14:50Speaker 1: Tom Brady who fell down at the five. So the
- 14:54Speaker 1: Buccaneers go to the well trying to trick the Seahawks
- 14:58Speaker 1: and Tarik Woolen pick it off. Now, bump talk, walk
- 15:03Speaker 1: us back through the play and what you heard from
- 15:04Speaker 1: when you interviewed TWEK Willing after the game about this play.
- 15:08Speaker 1: All right, Well, this play happens because of the way
- 15:11Speaker 1: Tariq Pulling played. Excuse me, Twek Woolling played this exact
- 15:16Speaker 1: kind of play earlier in the game. So what happens
- 15:19Speaker 1: is they're in a two back look, but it's a
- 15:22Speaker 1: wild cat. Lenar Frenette has the ball, he's got his
- 15:24Speaker 1: running back to the right side. So last time they
- 15:27Speaker 1: got into this wildcat formation. All right, Lennard Fournette runs
- 15:31Speaker 1: like a little outside zone type of look, and Tariq
- 15:34Speaker 1: Woolling just flies into the box trying to make a play.
- 15:37Speaker 1: In his mind. In the interview, he goes, I'm not
- 15:39Speaker 1: even thinking about Tom Brady. They're not going to throw
- 15:41Speaker 1: him in football. So what does Byron left Wars do.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Later on the game, they say, Okay, he's not gonna
- 15:45Speaker 1: guard Tom Brady. We got something for it, all right.
- 15:48Speaker 1: So you got a three by one, but your two
- 15:51Speaker 1: receivers are closer to the line of scrimmage, got a
- 15:53Speaker 1: receiver in a tight end, and then you have Tom
- 15:55Speaker 1: isolated all day to left by himself. You got Leonard
- 15:58Speaker 1: Frenette shotgun running back right next to him, and a
- 16:00Speaker 1: running back to the right. So they get the direct
- 16:03Speaker 1: snap and Leonard Fournette runs like he's doing like an
- 16:05Speaker 1: outside zone look, and without looking, he just assumes Teriq
- 16:09Speaker 1: Wollan's not gonna guard Tom Brady and that he's gonna
- 16:11Speaker 1: fly into the box like he did last time. But
- 16:14Speaker 1: Terik kind of slow plays it right pre snap. He
- 16:17Speaker 1: walks in and gives Leonard Fournette that same look. So
- 16:19Speaker 1: at this point, Fournett's like, I don't even have to
- 16:21Speaker 1: look over there. I know what he's gonna do. I'm
- 16:23Speaker 1: just gonna turn him and throw that thing. And that's
- 16:25Speaker 1: what does. He gets to the right, tries to toss
- 16:27Speaker 1: it back and Tariq Woollen was this patient, get into
- 16:30Speaker 1: a nice little turn and run. Look they throw it
- 16:32Speaker 1: out to Tom Brady. I guess they didn't watch the
- 16:34Speaker 1: Super Bowl when he dropped the double pass, but they said, look,
- 16:37Speaker 1: we're gonna do it again. And t Woo goes up there,
- 16:40Speaker 1: snatches it out there, and of course Tom he's gonna
- 16:42Speaker 1: tackle nobody, so he trips him the thing about this
- 16:46Speaker 1: play too, is everything that you just said is completely
- 16:48Speaker 1: on point. But at the beginning of this play took
- 16:51Speaker 1: Leonard Fournette's credit is Tariq Wollen is playing this like
- 16:54Speaker 1: he's an outside backer. He's nowhere near Tom. He's creep,
- 16:58Speaker 1: He's almost at the numbers. He's out there, but he
- 17:00Speaker 1: kind of takes a couple of step. And like you said,
- 17:02Speaker 1: running backs aren't used to playing quarterback. They aren't used
- 17:04Speaker 1: to reading defenses in any of that thing. So it
- 17:06Speaker 1: was a predetermined like he's in Madden, I'm thrown to
- 17:09Speaker 1: why regardless of what happens? Right? And then the other
- 17:12Speaker 1: thing too, I would I hope it's both. It's a
- 17:16Speaker 1: both thing on each side. Quarterback running back, so it's
- 17:18Speaker 1: a lot harder to throw the footballs and running back.
- 17:21Speaker 1: But Tom Brady, respect your receivers out there having to
- 17:25Speaker 1: adjust to the ball in the ball's night right where
- 17:26Speaker 1: you're gonna do it because the ball is a little
- 17:29Speaker 1: bit underthrown. And what happens to Tom He doesn't adjust
- 17:31Speaker 1: the ball. He's not a receiver. He just falls down,
- 17:34Speaker 1: you know what to do? He gets ruin that football
- 17:36Speaker 1: is in the air. Yes, everything speeds up he goes
- 17:39Speaker 1: down and, like you said, trips them. I'm happy they
- 17:41Speaker 1: called that one because I believe he tripped Shelby Harris
- 17:44Speaker 1: in the opposite end zone earlier in the game. They
- 17:46Speaker 1: didn't call that. Tom has actually been tripping a lot
- 17:49Speaker 1: of dudes this year, and a lot of dirty out there.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Tommy won't say anything. Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback
- 17:54Speaker 1: of all time. That's still the case. But but guess what,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you cannot get right against Tariguon because he got locks,
- 18:02Speaker 1: got the clamps, and man, we have not had to
- 18:04Speaker 1: do this in a long time. Bump after a four
- 18:07Speaker 1: game winning streak, the clock ran out any taking fire Huntley,
- 18:14Speaker 1: They're just gonna let the clock wind out. But it's
- 18:16Speaker 1: not even gonna bother taking that last time out, all right, man,
- 18:23Speaker 1: clock ran out. No victory formation for us this time,
- 18:26Speaker 1: and the Hawks is couldn't get right against the Tampa
- 18:29Speaker 1: Bay Buccaneers. Man, you knew from the start this was
- 18:32Speaker 1: gonna be a different game. You felt the way Tampa
- 18:34Speaker 1: was just moving the ball, and then you felt kind
- 18:37Speaker 1: of the frustrations in the offense with Gino on the guys.
- 18:40Speaker 1: So it just didn't feel right. Man. The Bucks came
- 18:42Speaker 1: out running the football. They over sixty yards per game
- 18:45Speaker 1: before this. They went for a buck sixty one on
- 18:48Speaker 1: these guys. So that was the good adjustment by them.
- 18:51Speaker 1: They're like, all right, they seems gonna expect us to
- 18:53Speaker 1: throw the ball a lot. We threw it fifty eight
- 18:55Speaker 1: times last week, forty four times the week before that.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So just a good adjustment by them. And then and
- 19:02Speaker 1: then you go sain for fifteen on third downs. Not good.
- 19:05Speaker 1: It's hard. It's hard formula to win on. If you're
- 19:08Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks, it was tough. They go in turn
- 19:10Speaker 1: go one of nine on third down themselves, and they
- 19:12Speaker 1: just couldn't overcome that slow start. They were down fourteen
- 19:15Speaker 1: nothing at the half, and right when they started to
- 19:17Speaker 1: get things going offensively, there's a crucial turnover and there
- 19:20Speaker 1: were two plays away. Pal Moore talks about it. You know,
- 19:23Speaker 1: five big plays in a game typically change the outcome.
- 19:26Speaker 1: In this game, it might have been two or three.
- 19:28Speaker 1: It's the fumble and just at some point anywhere down
- 19:30Speaker 1: they're getting a stop on third down. The Seahawks are
- 19:32Speaker 1: unable to do that. You flip it on offense, Like
- 19:35Speaker 1: I said, one of nine on third down. It's not
- 19:37Speaker 1: the right recipe for a victory, but Bump, the Hawks
- 19:40Speaker 1: are six and four. It's time to go to the
- 19:43Speaker 1: bye week, relax, kind of figure their stuff out, and
- 19:46Speaker 1: I think there can be really big things that had
- 19:48Speaker 1: for the Seahawks team. Bump. Seven games left. I mean,
- 19:51Speaker 1: we already claimed them a good team, but they're going
- 19:53Speaker 1: to the playoffs. It's just how many more games are
- 19:54Speaker 1: they gonna win? So I'm excited to see what they
- 19:57Speaker 1: can do post by. Yeah, let's go get healthy this week,
- 20:01Speaker 1: come back, ready to go. You got a team that
- 20:03Speaker 1: you should be in, the Vegas Raiders at home. Let's
- 20:06Speaker 1: get it. Need to do it. It's been it's been real.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It's been a long week of travel and doing all
- 20:11Speaker 1: the kinds of stuff. So we're gonna take a little
- 20:13Speaker 1: break from Hawk Talk. We'll talk to you guys next week.
- 20:16Speaker 1: For the remainder of week, though, you can listen to
- 20:17Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus on the Bump and Stacy Show. Tend to
- 20:20Speaker 1: chew every single day until next week is the Seahawks
- 20:23Speaker 1: take on the Las Vegas Raiders. He's Michael Bumpas on
- 20:25Speaker 1: NASA Chobe. You've been listening to Hawk talk the Recap
