- 0:03in girls. I'm going to get straight into
- 0:05it right now. Guys, welcome back to the Aspen

- 0:21right now. OK, so 10 lesson on physical
- 0:23signs of autism in girls. So first I'm going to talk about
- 0:25sensory processing issues. Now girls will experience
- 0:29essentially processing issues by being sensitive to touch sound
- 0:32like, you know, seeking out sensory environments, like they
- 0:35may really like plushies or or or like squish mallows or
- 0:39something like that. But then they'd also have an
- 0:40aversion to things like Velcro or slime, which is really
- 0:43interesting because you have century seeking attitudes in the
- 0:45century avoiding attitudes as well.
- 0:47There were two is delay in motor skill development.
- 0:49Now, this could be final skills like picking up like pens or
- 0:53putting keys indoors to, you know, macro walls where you're
- 0:56trying to pick up a glass and not drop these.
- 0:57A physical sign of autism that will present themselves in
- 1:00females #3 is difficulty with social communication.
- 1:02Girls who are on the autism spectrum will have a difficulty
- 1:04in social communication, which will be more apparent when
- 1:07they're trying to write a letter, instant message, or.
- 1:10But do you like an academic kind of conversational piece?
- 1:13This will be struggling but for them because they will not
- 1:16really understand the social implications of a conversation
- 1:18in social communication. And before it's repetitive
- 1:20behaviour, this is kind of like doing the same thing over and
- 1:23again. It could be stemming, rocking
- 1:25backwards and forwards, hand flapping, you know, tapping
- 1:27their fingers together, twiddling their fingers
- 1:29together, twiddling their hair a lot, eating their hair.
- 1:32This is all self estimatory behaviour or stemming, which is
- 1:35a repetitive behaviour, but it's a physical kind of manifestation
- 1:38that you could recognise and notice #5 is difficulty with
- 1:41transitions, as is transitioning from being at school to being at
- 1:44home or vice versa or being at, so being at the grocery store,
- 1:47all these things become very difficult.
- 1:48And what you'll find a lot of the time is the girl will really
- 1:51avoid doing the thing that has to change.
- 1:53So we'll just stay at home. We'll pretend to be sick so they
- 1:55stay at home. This will happen a lot,
- 1:57especially social situations. This will become more apparent.
- 1:59Number six is eating disorders. Actually, some girls who also
- 2:02will be picky eaters or have difficulty with food textures.
- 2:05Not to mention social pressure and peer pressure from school
- 2:07where it's more prominent in girls to have more anxiety
- 2:10around food since there's a social conventional with things
- 2:14like that for young girls, which is horrible but it happens when
- 2:17autism girls are are very more susceptible to that because of
- 2:19the neurological condition, the naivety of of social
- 2:22communication. So never having sleeping issues
- 2:25as problems including like difficulty falling asleep,
- 2:27staying asleep, regulating sleep patterns.
- 2:29Actually hitting Bram is going to be difficult because the mind
- 2:32of an autistic female is going 1000 miles an hour and they are
- 2:34trying to regulate themselves constantly and could very well
- 2:38come out in sleep. Issues #8 is anxiety and
- 2:40depression because autism and neurological condition.
- 2:43It does come with mental health issues and anxiety and
- 2:45depression unfortunately are some of the ugly ones that do
- 2:47rear their head. For autistic individuals who are
- 2:50female, so #9 is an unusual walk.
- 2:53So some females in the autism spectrum may have an unusual
- 2:55walking style. Now this could be down to a
- 2:58motor delay or a sensory processing issue where they
- 3:00could be experiencing the feeling of walking on the floor
- 3:03quite uncomfortable and quite difficult.
- 3:05So #10 is hypertonia. Now hypertonia is a low muscle
- 3:08density or low muscle tone which is like a physical sign of
- 3:11autism in girls which means for the micro development for
- 3:13holding pens and other kind of small objects will be difficult
- 3:15because they'll have low muscle tone in their actual arms and
- 3:18they could be actually diagnosed with something called
- 3:20hypermobility also. Now guys if this video is
- 3:22interesting and educational please share it on social media,
- 3:25give it a like and leave me a comment.
- 3:26I'd love to read all your comments.
- 3:28Peace.
