- 0:42Speaker 3: Here, it's a Tuesday already, August twenty five, as we
- 0:48Speaker 3: move forwarround the show today it's rich on tech. Have
- 0:52Speaker 3: some fun stories to talk about. Get a big story
- 0:55Speaker 3: which I'm going to talk about later on, and that
- 0:58Speaker 3: is the court allowing the president to pursue male voting limitations.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I thought the car would go the other way, by
- 1:06Speaker 3: the way, but it's uh, it's not what it appears
- 1:10Speaker 3: to be in terms of the screen court saying go
- 1:12Speaker 3: ahead control mail in voting. Not even close. But I'll
- 1:15Speaker 3: explain it a little bit more. Coming up at seven
- 1:18Speaker 3: o'clock in the meantime. Hello to everybody, Neil, good morning,
- 1:22Speaker 3: Hi there. Black Beard not the pirate you, yes, sir? Yeah?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Usually the Beard the go tea where did they ever
- 1:33Speaker 3: get that go tea?
- 1:35Speaker 4: Actually this is technically a Van Dyke.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I don't have a mustache, okay, and you're not and
- 1:40Speaker 3: you're not even a woman, so I don't get that. Okay,
- 1:45Speaker 3: just wondering, Okay. Anyway, Good morning athletics. All right now, Amy,
- 1:54Speaker 3: there you are, Hi Bhi Dodger blue. You wear as
- 1:57Speaker 3: much Dodger blue as you possibly can during the season,
- 2:00Speaker 3: own you.
- 2:00Speaker 5: Absolutely the boys are on a hot streak right now.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah, no kidding, on several different levels. We are in
- 2:07Speaker 3: the middle of a hot streak right now. Also. Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 3: So we'll talk about the weather a little bit later on.
- 2:12Speaker 3: And San Diego Padres church in.
- 2:15Speaker 5: The house, both wearing representing our teams today exactly.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And where the Padres losing today by the way, No,
- 2:24Speaker 3: we're calling wor wild card going And where is a
- 2:28Speaker 3: new owner yesterday? And you know what they are, they're
- 2:32Speaker 3: good people. Great story about who was it the owner
- 2:35Speaker 3: that just got popped for prostitution? Yeah, the owner of
- 2:39Speaker 3: the forty nine ers one hundred and forty dollars going
- 2:43Speaker 3: to a trailer park to have some solicited sex. Wow,
- 2:50Speaker 3: one hundred and forty bucks at a trailer park. You
- 2:52Speaker 3: think you could do better than that, you know, being
- 2:54Speaker 3: a multi building. Is it the thrill? I don't know,
- 2:57Speaker 3: because you can't. I don't know, Neil. Is it the
- 3:00Speaker 3: thrill you have some experience?
- 3:02Speaker 4: No, never with the prostitute. The closest thing is you.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Thank you very much. I actually and I do admit it.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Once in my life, I was in South America doing
- 3:16Speaker 3: a tour of the tour guide and I was there
- 3:20Speaker 3: and then somebody, one of the taxi drivers, said, hey,
- 3:24Speaker 3: do you want to go to a special place. So
- 3:26Speaker 3: I went to a special place and it turned out
- 3:28Speaker 3: to be a bordello, and he said would you like
- 3:33Speaker 3: to get involved? And all the women there were shaking
- 3:37Speaker 3: their heads and putting their fingers across their throat to
- 3:41Speaker 3: the taxi driver.
- 3:43Speaker 4: So no, thank you.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah, So it didn't happen, just so I went, yeah, yeah,
- 3:50Speaker 3: pretty much. It's been a good day, you know, it's
- 3:52Speaker 3: been a Saturday night. I've earned enough Monday. I think
- 3:54Speaker 3: I'm going to take the rest of the night off.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I went to a brothel in Nevada with Wayne resnik
- 4:00Speaker 4: Uh where he broadcast live from.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Oh Okay Oh. I went to one of those with
- 4:04Speaker 3: a bunch of friends and we walked in just to
- 4:06Speaker 3: see what that was like, and we didn't select, but
- 4:09Speaker 3: they threw us out so quickly. They're not bad, a
- 4:11Speaker 3: little sleazy, but uh, those women are very hard women. Man,
- 4:15Speaker 3: They've been around the block.
- 4:16Speaker 4: They're lovely. I ate with them too. We had a
- 4:19Speaker 4: castle role.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Not going to touch that one with a ten inch pole,
- 4:25Speaker 3: and I was right.
- 4:26Speaker 4: I was celebrate at the time, and they were fascinated
- 4:29Speaker 4: by that absolutely.
- 4:30Speaker 3: And then Will, good morning Will, Good morning Bill. Hey,
- 4:33Speaker 3: I've been told by various sources that I should pull
- 4:37Speaker 3: way way back on making fun of your weight that
- 4:39Speaker 3: I've been pushing. I've been pushing it a little bit hard,
- 4:43Speaker 3: so I thought you were I don't know. Oh you
- 4:46Speaker 3: have a thick skin. You know, what do you take
- 4:49Speaker 3: it in? And all gracious just.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Say thick skin?
- 4:52Speaker 3: Come on, dude, does have a thick skin.
- 4:57Speaker 4: I'm big boned.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, you are big. I've always wondered about that.
- 5:00Speaker 3: To be big boned, what does that have to do
- 5:02Speaker 3: with how much fat you have on you? And isn't
- 5:07Speaker 3: anybody bigger bigger boned and smaller people smaller bone dourus?
- 5:14Speaker 3: I don't know, Hi, Cono all right, sorry, I've I've
- 5:19Speaker 3: said good morning to one and all, and as I said,
- 5:22Speaker 3: we have a lot to talk about today, so let's
- 5:25Speaker 3: start handle on the news. Amy Neil and me lead story.
- 5:31Speaker 3: All right, Yesterday Supreme Court divided. Supreme Court broke down
- 5:35Speaker 3: on conservative liberal grounds allowed the Trump administration to move
- 5:40Speaker 3: forward with plans to restrict mail in voting before the midterms.
- 5:45Speaker 3: The administration went moved in an emergency an emergency motion,
- 5:53Speaker 3: and the Court did grant it as a matter of
- 5:55Speaker 3: fact and said that he could the President could proceed
- 5:59Speaker 3: with implementing an executive order is signed. Now, how does
- 6:04Speaker 3: he do that in light of the Constitution, which specifically
- 6:08Speaker 3: gives the states the power to control voting. Well, here's
- 6:14Speaker 3: what he said. I'm not limiting it. I'm just and
- 6:18Speaker 3: this is what the order said, and this is what
- 6:19Speaker 3: he asked for. I'm merely asking the states to create
- 6:24Speaker 3: a list of their voters. And we because we mail
- 6:29Speaker 3: ballots to people, we don't want to mail ballots to
- 6:32Speaker 3: those who are illegals, and the states aren't doing that job.
- 6:36Speaker 3: So we're going to make it easier for the states.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Does that mean the states have to comply and do
- 6:41Speaker 3: what the Feds are asking for Nope, at least not now.
- 6:47Speaker 3: It is with the administration saying we're going to make
- 6:49Speaker 3: it easier for the states to control illegal voting. Okay, Now,
- 6:54Speaker 3: no requirements states follow that at all, So I'll talk
- 6:57Speaker 3: more about that. It's a little complex, a little wonky,
- 7:00Speaker 3: but I have to unwonk it because there's a lot
- 7:04Speaker 3: to that. And I know if the headlines read Trump
- 7:07Speaker 3: administration prevails on mail in voting, it does not particularly.
- 7:12Speaker 5: Okay, So along with this mail in voting, they're going
- 7:15Speaker 5: to have to have new rules for the mail in ballots.
- 7:17Speaker 5: So the US Postal Service has unveiled some requirements for
- 7:21Speaker 5: mail ballots. That comes less than two weeks before some
- 7:24Speaker 5: states starts sending those ballots out. Provisions are still subject
- 7:28Speaker 5: to additional legal challenges and may not go into effect
- 7:32Speaker 5: in time to meet the deadline to change procedures for
- 7:35Speaker 5: these midterm elections. So things are going to get as
- 7:37Speaker 5: Bill said, wonky. They would forbid the Postal Service from
- 7:41Speaker 5: sending mail ballots from any state that doesn't comply with
- 7:44Speaker 5: Trump's order, and would require an overhaul of the envelopes
- 7:48Speaker 5: that have the ballots in them, and the thing of
- 7:52Speaker 5: note on all of this is despite the High Court's
- 7:56Speaker 5: initial clearance of the order, that bill was just telling
- 7:58Speaker 5: you about. It didn't decide whether it was constitutional or not.
- 8:02Speaker 5: It only said the challenge was premature.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Right, and they're still going to decide. They're still going
- 8:10Speaker 3: to decide. They're just saying as of right now, Trump
- 8:14Speaker 3: can require states right now, and there's not even going
- 8:18Speaker 3: to be time enough to do it, probably to compile
- 8:22Speaker 3: lists of people who are legal and can vote, and
- 8:26Speaker 3: will in fact, they will supply lists the administration. And
- 8:31Speaker 3: the way I read it is, here are a list
- 8:33Speaker 3: of people who are illegal, which they know. Now the
- 8:36Speaker 3: question of just picking them up as far as the
- 8:39Speaker 3: Trump administration, and here is the list for the states.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Now you go to work and figure it out how
- 8:45Speaker 3: you're going to control how they don't vote. That's effectively
- 8:49Speaker 3: what it is. And the Post Office is saying, we
- 8:52Speaker 3: on our side have the ability to control even if
- 8:57Speaker 3: the states send it out with the US mail. We're
- 8:59Speaker 3: not going to send mail to illegal aliens to vote.
- 9:02Speaker 3: We're going to change the ballots. Does that make sense.
- 9:05Speaker 3: It's a little complicated, Well, it was a good word
- 9:10Speaker 3: for it. Wonky really is wonky really is a good
- 9:13Speaker 3: word for it. Okay, let's move on. Let do one
- 9:16Speaker 3: morning it. We'll take a.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Break, all righty, crew members board the USS Abraham Lincoln
- 9:22Speaker 4: finally get a port of call scheduled on. Texts have
- 9:27Speaker 4: been going back and forth, I guess between family members,
- 9:30Speaker 4: and it looks like the planned stop is going to
- 9:32Speaker 4: be in Thailand. Early in September, they had this record
- 9:36Speaker 4: setting deployment in the Middle East that we've all been
- 9:39Speaker 4: hearing about the US war in Iran. And what's it
- 9:43Speaker 4: been like two hundred and some odd days that they've.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Been out over two d and fifty days.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Yeah, they've been out there and with complaints about the
- 9:54Speaker 4: ship that needs to be serviced and food and all
- 9:57Speaker 4: of these things. And it seems like they will have
- 10:01Speaker 4: their first walk on land in Thailand.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yeah. Now I have a question.
- 10:06Speaker 4: They've been a place to go.
- 10:07Speaker 3: These guys have been awardship for so long. I'll bet
- 10:11Speaker 3: you they really in many cases don't know the difference
- 10:13Speaker 3: between men and women. I mean, it's been that long.
- 10:16Speaker 3: And if all the places to go to, Thailand would
- 10:19Speaker 3: be the last place you would figure that they would
- 10:22Speaker 3: go to. That, by the way, is a very nuanced joke.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I just wanted to point that out.
- 10:28Speaker 5: You're telling a joke again.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Yeah, you see, if we will got it, no will
- 10:32Speaker 3: got it. It is Kono, who usually laughs at this,
- 10:36Speaker 3: has no idea what I just said.
- 10:38Speaker 4: He's never been to Thailand and he's never been to
- 10:41Speaker 4: a Lady Boy show.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Really wow, I have no I get that, I get
- 10:49Speaker 3: now exactly, but that now, that connects to the joke
- 10:52Speaker 3: a board the Abraham Lincoln and guys who have not
- 10:56Speaker 3: seen can't tell the difference because they've been a ship
- 10:58Speaker 3: for so long and Thailand and being the last place
- 11:01Speaker 3: to go there is a wonky, nuanced deep joke.
- 11:06Speaker 5: Well, Rob Bonta has thrown a curveball. The Paramount Warner
- 11:10Speaker 5: Brothers deal hit another roadblock. There was supposed to be
- 11:13Speaker 5: a big meeting yesterday over how they might be able
- 11:17Speaker 5: to get together between the state and the companies to
- 11:20Speaker 5: settle this lawsuit, the antitrust lawsuit that's been filed by
- 11:24Speaker 5: twelve states. Attorney General. Rob Bonta confirmed that they had
- 11:28Speaker 5: a meeting scheduled, but then he pulled the plug on
- 11:30Speaker 5: it late on Sunday said nope, not doing it. An
- 11:35Speaker 5: accused Paramount of acting in bad faith, saying that they
- 11:39Speaker 5: leaked information from a meeting that they had on Friday.
- 11:42Speaker 5: He said, as soon as Paramount stops playing games and engages, sincerely,
- 11:47Speaker 5: my office is happy to meet again.
- 11:50Speaker 3: This issue is real simple. Unlike the Trump decision yesterday
- 11:55Speaker 3: by the Supreme Court with the mail in voting, this
- 11:58Speaker 3: one's real easy, and that is is the merger. Does
- 12:01Speaker 3: the merger create a company that is monopolistic, has too
- 12:05Speaker 3: much market share, controls the market for entertainment too much?
- 12:10Speaker 3: Or does paramounts argument, Hey, there's plenty of competition out
- 12:15Speaker 3: there with streaming and cable and terrestrial broadcasting, that and
- 12:21Speaker 3: movie distribution Disney, etc. That we're not going to be
- 12:25Speaker 3: that big a deal in terms of market share. That's it.
- 12:28Speaker 3: There's the argument, and we'll see what the courts say
- 12:30Speaker 3: about that one, all right.
- 12:33Speaker 4: The Trump administration wants to charge employees seeking skilled foreign workers.
- 12:39Speaker 4: We know that through the H one B. If you remember,
- 12:43Speaker 4: we had one of those in Bill Carroll from Canada.
- 12:47Speaker 4: He had come here on an H one B and
- 12:50Speaker 4: this is their visa program. But he wants to change
- 12:53Speaker 4: the fee to a little over one hundred and three
- 12:57Speaker 4: thousand dollars. This revenue fee would go to legal immigration system,
- 13:04Speaker 4: the courts, and so forth in the US immigration and
- 13:07Speaker 4: Customs enforcement. So that's a pretty major fee. I don't
- 13:14Speaker 4: know what it was. I was looking to see what
- 13:16Speaker 4: it cost prior.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Oh, it was several thousand dollars. Yeah, that's very much.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Three fours right, Yeah, something like that.
- 13:24Speaker 4: That's what I thought it was.
- 13:25Speaker 3: And here was the argument that was made prior when
- 13:29Speaker 3: the court held it was illegal, that it was the
- 13:32Speaker 3: fee was simply to keep out workers. And the court said,
- 13:36Speaker 3: you can't do that. Now it's one hundred That was
- 13:40Speaker 3: one hundred thousand dollars. Now it's one hundred and three
- 13:43Speaker 3: thousand dollars, I guess because of inflation. And this has
- 13:47Speaker 3: to do with the fact that, well, it's basically the
- 13:52Speaker 3: same argument. It's just a different way of approaching it.
- 13:55Speaker 4: And you know what the frustration is, Bill is he
- 13:58Speaker 4: says he doesn't want immig rents here that aren't up
- 14:02Speaker 4: to par. You know, he does want to bring in
- 14:05Speaker 4: the poor. And then you find people that are skilled
- 14:08Speaker 4: by definition for the H one B and then you
- 14:12Speaker 4: penalize them.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Well, the argument, well, the reality is he doesn't want
- 14:16Speaker 3: immigrants period and now one hundred and three thousand dollars.
- 14:20Speaker 3: And we did have Bill Carroll, he was in from Canada.
- 14:22Speaker 3: It was a talk show host for a while, and
- 14:25Speaker 3: I Heart brought him in and paid the fee and
- 14:27Speaker 3: had the lawyers do the thing today, one hundred and
- 14:31Speaker 3: three thousand dollars. Would I Heart ever ever pay that
- 14:35Speaker 3: much money? Considering that if you put the salaries of
- 14:39Speaker 3: every single talk show host on this station combined, it
- 14:44Speaker 3: doesn't reach one hundred thousand dollars. So what in God's
- 14:47Speaker 3: name are they going to do? You will only see
- 14:51Speaker 3: home grown talent here, talent like why.
- 14:58Speaker 4: He's still growing?
- 14:59Speaker 3: I no, it stopped going a long time ago. That's
- 15:02Speaker 3: what I'm stunted.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Homegrown talent, pruned, pruned, homegrown talent.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Disneyland's newest attraction a parking structure. They're breaking ground on
- 15:17Speaker 5: a new parking structure and transportation hub that's being built
- 15:21Speaker 5: on the east side of the Disneyland Resort's going to
- 15:24Speaker 5: add six thousand new parking spots, also shuttle and ride
- 15:28Speaker 5: share areas. It's going to have a pedestrian bridge over
- 15:32Speaker 5: Harbor Boulevard leading to an all new esplanade and Arrival experience.
- 15:37Speaker 5: They apparently need it because the park is growing. There's
- 15:41Speaker 5: a new Avatar land coming and a Coco themed attraction
- 15:45Speaker 5: and all kinds of stuff. So they're planning for the future.
- 15:49Speaker 3: And the parking structure it's multi story. As you go around,
- 15:53Speaker 3: going up the parking structure, go level the level, as
- 15:57Speaker 3: we all do. They're going to market it as a
- 16:00Speaker 3: new form of the Utopia ride. And as you go
- 16:04Speaker 3: around and then come back down and there they are.
- 16:06Speaker 3: There they are. Oh boy, new ride of Disneylandtopia. That's
- 16:11Speaker 3: a great idea. Now you would buy that, Amy, and
- 16:13Speaker 3: so with Neil, because whatever they say, you do, you say, oh, yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 3: that's great fun.
- 16:20Speaker 4: All right?
- 16:21Speaker 3: Uh.
- 16:22Speaker 4: John aka Jed York, the principal owner and CEO of
- 16:26Speaker 4: the San Francisco forty nine Ers, was arrested in Ohio
- 16:30Speaker 4: after over the weekend. Rather, he pleaded no contest Monday
- 16:34Speaker 4: to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, conduct, and possessing criminal
- 16:39Speaker 4: tools that actually had to do with prostitution. There. He
- 16:45Speaker 4: claims he was just looking for a new tight end
- 16:48Speaker 4: and wide receiver. Good night, everybody, tippy waitress.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah. He went to a trailer park to meet a hooker.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Because one hundred and sixty dollars in his pocket.
- 17:04Speaker 3: And by the way, it's not possessing criminal tools, it's
- 17:07Speaker 3: possessing a criminal tool, and that's what he was charged with.
- 17:10Speaker 3: And he played guilty too.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Yeah, so apparently he was in this area that's known
- 17:17Speaker 4: for prostitution. He had the money and the tool, by
- 17:21Speaker 4: the way, was his cell phone for setting up the date.
- 17:25Speaker 3: I don't know if that's what they're calling it now.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Huh yeah, so uh, And they'll be changing the name
- 17:31Speaker 4: to the San Francisco sixty nine ers.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Oh. Also very good, all right, not bad, not bad,
- 17:37Speaker 3: all right.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Isolating Iran is the plan. Treasury Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant
- 17:47Speaker 5: announced a new round of sanctions aimed at Iran and
- 17:51Speaker 5: said every country that does business with the Islamic Republic
- 17:56Speaker 5: could face retaliation from the US. Their plan is to
- 18:00Speaker 5: cut off Iran from the rest of the global economy.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I talked about this yesterday. I saw the press conference.
- 18:09Speaker 3: It was a little light on details in terms of
- 18:13Speaker 3: which countries are going to be sanctioned, and Scott Besson said,
- 18:20Speaker 3: we're working on it right now, and we're just talking
- 18:24Speaker 3: to our allies and we've already achieved some success, and
- 18:28Speaker 3: of course the big question is China, China. What does
- 18:33Speaker 3: the president do with China. I'll talk more about that.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I was talking to and boy has he put himself
- 18:40Speaker 3: in the corner on this one. Oh yes, he has.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Talk more about that. Coming up at seven point thirty.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Horrible fire going through the heart of old town, New
- 18:51Speaker 4: Hall and Santa Clarita. I love that area up there,
- 18:55Speaker 4: and to think of these old places and going down
- 18:58Speaker 4: as very sad. So it reduced this small stretch of
- 19:02Speaker 4: mostly women owned shops, which I find interesting and also
- 19:06Speaker 4: adding to the sadness, loved restaurant all of it ashes now. Yeah,
- 19:12Speaker 4: so it's very very sad to see all this.
- 19:16Speaker 5: Gary Hoffman had dinner there the night before.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Really, I have no doubt.
- 19:20Speaker 4: It was one of those places that just the.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Refinery and now they just tell you bring your marshmallows.
- 19:26Speaker 3: There's nothing else to do. It's very tough.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Well, paybacks are hell. Gk N Aerospace plans to pay
- 19:36Speaker 5: up to one hundred million dollars to make things right
- 19:40Speaker 5: to the people in Garden Grove. You'll recall that more
- 19:42Speaker 5: than fifty thousand people had to leave their homes in
- 19:45Speaker 5: May when a pressurized chemical tank owned by g Can
- 19:49Speaker 5: started to overheat and officials were saying that it could
- 19:54Speaker 5: explode or cause a major spill, and it had seven
- 19:57Speaker 5: thousand gallons gallons of methyl methic ryghlight in it, which
- 20:01Speaker 5: is a toxic chemical. The company has since decommissioned the
- 20:05Speaker 5: tank and thirteen to seventeen thousand households in the neighborhood
- 20:09Speaker 5: around the facility had to be out of their houses
- 20:12Speaker 5: for almost a week. So the money is going to
- 20:14Speaker 5: go to reimburse them for expenses like hotel stays and
- 20:18Speaker 5: loss of use meals, transportation, launch, the wages, those kind
- 20:21Speaker 5: of things.
- 20:22Speaker 3: You know what caused to me to not question it,
- 20:25Speaker 3: but find interesting that we're talking seven thousand gallons that
- 20:30Speaker 3: could cause this much damage. Usually when you think of
- 20:32Speaker 3: seven thousand gallons spill of anything, Okay, I mean that's dangerous,
- 20:37Speaker 3: but to this extent, I mean that's how powerful, That's
- 20:41Speaker 3: how toxic this stuff is. I guess. So so there
- 20:45Speaker 3: they go one hundred million dollars and I wonder how
- 20:47Speaker 3: much of that is insurance, And if that's the case,
- 20:50Speaker 3: I wonder how much their premiums are going to be
- 20:52Speaker 3: next year, Neil phone off.
- 21:01Speaker 4: The state wants not only your taxes, they want the
- 21:03Speaker 4: money you might have forgotten about. Proposed legislation to streamline
- 21:08Speaker 4: California's ability to seize abandoned stocks and mutual funds, by
- 21:12Speaker 4: the way, is drawing opposition from business groups, dividing Democratic lawmakers,
- 21:18Speaker 4: and they're trying to push this bill fourteen forty seven,
- 21:23Speaker 4: which seeks to define more the process for California to
- 21:26Speaker 4: take custody of securities when owners are deemed to be absent.
- 21:31Speaker 4: So apparently there's like fifteen billion dollars in unclaimed property,
- 21:36Speaker 4: including securities, stockholdings, that type of things, mutual funds, retirement
- 21:41Speaker 4: accounts that this seems short to me that if they
- 21:47Speaker 4: haven't been logged into or touched in three years.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Yeah, they're consisting there. I thought it was seven years
- 21:54Speaker 3: or five years. Yeah, three years, Yeah, three years, and
- 21:56Speaker 3: this is cheap for three years. Well, I'm in the
- 21:59Speaker 3: middle of one of these right now with the state.
- 22:03Speaker 3: There was in my surrogacy days, we had a bank
- 22:07Speaker 3: account that belonged to my partner, and I had a
- 22:09Speaker 3: bank account that belonged to us, and during the course
- 22:11Speaker 3: of the sale and all of it. It somehow slipped
- 22:14Speaker 3: through the cracks, and there it is. There's the account,
- 22:17Speaker 3: and the state has it, and the state has to
- 22:22Speaker 3: reach out, which they did, and I've been at it
- 22:25Speaker 3: for a year already. Is it real money, Yeah, it's
- 22:28Speaker 3: real money. Yeah, it's a healthy chunk of money. Yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 3: it was a pretty good sized bank account.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Why do they give it over once they know?
- 22:34Speaker 3: Oh no, because you have to. You just can't make
- 22:36Speaker 3: a claim for it. You have to do. You have
- 22:38Speaker 3: to jump through all kinds of hoops. The state does
- 22:41Speaker 3: not want to let go of it. California does not
- 22:43Speaker 3: let it. Like letting go of money under any circumstances.
- 22:47Speaker 3: The Franchise Tax Board. You know, in terms of taxes
- 22:50Speaker 3: with the IRS, there is a statical limitations. You know
- 22:53Speaker 3: that after a certain period of time, the IRS can't
- 22:56Speaker 3: go after you. No statute with this to California. None.
- 23:02Speaker 3: You owe taxes. You are going to die owing taxes
- 23:05Speaker 3: if you don't pay them. And I'm talking about for
- 23:08Speaker 3: the rest of your life. You can buy or or
- 23:12Speaker 3: you when you die on your tombstone. Remember when McDonald's
- 23:15Speaker 3: used to say over a billion hamburgers, and then five billion,
- 23:19Speaker 3: and then twenty billion, and then zeros just kept adding
- 23:22Speaker 3: up on those signs. That is what your tombstone is
- 23:26Speaker 3: going to read. If you owe money to the State
- 23:28Speaker 3: of California, they just do not let go.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Our governor has a beautiful home on two hundred thousand
- 23:35Speaker 4: dollars a year.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but that was the state put that up, that
- 23:41Speaker 3: was donated that house. It wasn't it was not paid
- 23:43Speaker 3: for with the money's selling. Yeah, it's the state can
- 23:47Speaker 3: sell it. But also the Getty Mansion was given to
- 23:52Speaker 3: the city of Los Angeles, Gracie Mansion was given to
- 23:54Speaker 3: the city of New York.
- 23:56Speaker 4: I'm giving out his private home with the five thousand bottle.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know
- 24:04Speaker 3: where he got the money. But let me tell you
- 24:05Speaker 3: there's a Republican or two out there that would love
- 24:08Speaker 3: to be able to prove that Newsom somehow was able
- 24:10Speaker 3: to get that home with money that he shouldn't have.
- 24:13Speaker 4: It's coming, Okay.
- 24:15Speaker 5: Is it worth the risk? New data shows that at
- 24:19Speaker 5: least one in four of all people who have played
- 24:24Speaker 5: football in the NFL might expect to end up with
- 24:28Speaker 5: chronic encephalopathy. According to a study of hundreds of cases
- 24:33Speaker 5: over a six year period. So it's CTE, which is
- 24:37Speaker 5: that brain disease that can't be diagnosed until after you die.
- 24:41Speaker 5: But researchers considered every former NFL player who died between
- 24:45Speaker 5: twenty sixteen and twenty twenty one. There were eight hundred
- 24:47Speaker 5: and seventy eight of them. Some of them died in
- 24:49Speaker 5: their twenties, some in their eighties, most were somewhere in between.
- 24:53Speaker 5: And that study found that at least two hundred and
- 24:55Speaker 5: fifteen of those eight hundred and seventy eight former players,
- 24:58Speaker 5: almost twenty five percent had a CTE.
- 25:02Speaker 3: So, Amy to your question, is it worth the risk?
- 25:06Speaker 3: Why don't you ask a couple of ballplayers who made
- 25:08Speaker 3: fifteen million dollars a year and sign their contracts with
- 25:11Speaker 3: an X and see if it's worth the risk. I
- 25:16Speaker 3: would say yes. But and I even signed my name
- 25:21Speaker 3: with real letters. Okay, I don't know, Sam, Moving on,
- 25:27Speaker 3: Moving on all right.
- 25:29Speaker 4: Canada is upset again. They're announcing that they're going to
- 25:33Speaker 4: do retaliatory tariffs against the United States. They say that
- 25:38Speaker 4: they said this today and that President Donald Trump of course,
- 25:45Speaker 4: is telling Canadian listeners or leaders rather to fall in
- 25:49Speaker 4: line or face the consequences. Far worse, he says, than
- 25:55Speaker 4: existing tariffs, and Prime Minister Mark Carney accused Washington trying
- 26:00Speaker 4: to subordinate Canada.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Usually when the president negotiates with other countries, the word
- 26:08Speaker 3: nuanced might appear with any other president, not so much
- 26:13Speaker 3: with Donald Trump. And it's it is a war now,
- 26:17Speaker 3: it's going to be a tit for tat Canada, said
- 26:20Speaker 3: Mark Carney said, Yep, every dime you ter if us,
- 26:24Speaker 3: we're going to tear af you. And one of the
- 26:27Speaker 3: tariffs that the United States has is against autos, for example,
- 26:31Speaker 3: and auto parts coming in from Canada. A huge number
- 26:34Speaker 3: of cars manufactured in Canada come into the United States
- 26:38Speaker 3: and the auto and the auto industry buys a huge
- 26:41Speaker 3: number of parts from Canada. Yeah, it's going to be
- 26:43Speaker 3: a mess, it really is. We'll see which way it goes.
- 26:46Speaker 3: And the President talks about how there are insane tariffs
- 26:50Speaker 3: on the Canadian side. That's true, mainly in dairy. Do
- 26:53Speaker 3: you know that in the world of dairy, you know, eggs, poultry,
- 26:57Speaker 3: that sort of thing. Canada charges a one hundred percent
- 27:01Speaker 3: tariff on dairy goods going across the border, which means
- 27:05Speaker 3: that there is no market in Canada for dairy products,
- 27:09Speaker 3: but not much beyond that. And the President is hold on,
- 27:15Speaker 3: whoa what a sneeze? And the President is now tariffing steel,
- 27:20Speaker 3: auto parts autos. I mean, it's a lot of account lumber,
- 27:23Speaker 3: which all of the furniture makers up there are all
- 27:26Speaker 3: the people involved in making wood products that's going to
- 27:28Speaker 3: be cut. It's going to be a big deal. It's
- 27:30Speaker 3: going to be a hell of a ward. To say the.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Least days are numbered for B one and B two
- 27:38Speaker 5: visa holders. The Trump administration preparing to revoke the business
- 27:42Speaker 5: and tourism visas of up to two hundred thousand people
- 27:45Speaker 5: from other countries who've applied for or are currently seeking
- 27:49Speaker 5: asylum status in the US. They're called the B one
- 27:51Speaker 5: B two visas. They were issued between twenty sixteen and
- 27:54Speaker 5: twenty twenty six According to US officials, they're coordinating with
- 27:59Speaker 5: the Department of Homeland Security to identify and revoke the
- 28:02Speaker 5: non immigrant visus of foreigners who have come to the
- 28:06Speaker 5: US claiming to be short term visitors but then filed
- 28:09Speaker 5: for asylum to stay here permanently.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Yeah, Now, how do you argue with that? I Mean,
- 28:13Speaker 3: here's the Trump administration saying they're basically defrauding the United
- 28:17Speaker 3: States coming into the US, as you said, on a
- 28:20Speaker 3: tourist visa or temporary work visa, and before it runs out,
- 28:24Speaker 3: immediately asking for asylum, political persecution, the threat of death overseas.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Come on, guys, the President is right on this one. Now,
- 28:36Speaker 3: the other side of it is, we can't file for
- 28:38Speaker 3: asylum because the government isn't allowing any asylum seekers claiming asylum.
- 28:44Speaker 3: So effectively, what the Trump administration is saying, we don't
- 28:47Speaker 3: want foreigners here. It's that simple. We just don't want them.
- 28:52Speaker 3: And keep in mind he was elected on this. He
- 28:56Speaker 3: has a line about this. This is one of his
- 28:58Speaker 3: campaign issues, don't want foreigners in this country. Okay, moving on.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Heart breaking story. An eight year old girl in Louisiana
- 29:11Speaker 4: has died after being infected with an incredibly rare brain
- 29:17Speaker 4: eating amba that is found in warm fresh water. They
- 29:22Speaker 4: believe she was swimming and contracted this while swimming in
- 29:27Speaker 4: Lake Claiborne in North Louisiana. And you're talking about a
- 29:33Speaker 4: very small there were fewer than ten cases annually in
- 29:37Speaker 4: the US, and this young girl, Lilian, died from this
- 29:46Speaker 4: very very rare brain eating amoeba.
- 29:50Speaker 3: But and it almost always proves fatal. I mean, you
- 29:53Speaker 3: get it. You're basically dead. Yeah, that's yeah, it is heartbreaker,
- 29:58Speaker 3: it is, but that you just don't allow your kids
- 30:00Speaker 3: to swim any place other than swimming pools and the toilets.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Clean water without toilets before flushing will Okay, flushing before
- 30:11Speaker 3: flushing not for flushing, sofore flushing.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Your brain is odd.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Okay, we're done. Guys. You've been listening to The Bill
- 30:20Speaker 3: Handle Show.
