- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31My very stress-free location and I want to talk to you about that
- 0:35because I want to talk to you about stress and we're going to
- 0:39actually do a little bit on this because I just feel like it's
- 0:44such a huge part of our lives. And we, as you know, unconscious
- 0:50human beings moving through our lives.
- 0:52Don't pay attention to how much stress we have.
- 0:55So, today, we're diving in. So, what exactly is stress,
- 1:00basically? Boils down to it's a silent
- 1:02killer and I don't, I'm not exaggerating.
- 1:04When I say that statistics show that eighty percent of all
- 1:09doctors visits are predicated on stress-related illnesses, think
- 1:15about that stress. Related illnesses, meaning they
- 1:18are self induced because no one can make you experience stress
- 1:22unless you allow it to come in. Now, we've talked about that
- 1:25before and I know I'll get feedback on this and someone
- 1:28says that's not true. My boss is horrible.
- 1:30Yes. But nobody can make you feel
- 1:32something. You don't choose to feel.
- 1:35And this is the, I personally believe this is the human
- 1:38condition that we are supposed to learn.
- 1:41We are not supposed to allow people to come in and make us
- 1:44feel things that we don't want to feel.
- 1:48I'm just as guilty of it as the rest of you have a lot more
- 1:52fewer buttons that can be pushed now.
- 1:55And I am considerably grateful for that.
- 1:58I just think that I worked really hard.
- 2:01Add it. Now I say most of those buttons
- 2:04are gone but there are buttons between my husband and I between
- 2:08my kids and I that clearly those buttons get fired off and I
- 2:12still have work to do because that's the job when you're alive
- 2:15you have work to do. So the good news is if you're
- 2:17irritated, if your buttons are being pushed, if you're alive,
- 2:20you're alive that means. Yes you have a fundamentally
- 2:24very Human Experience, going on and you have to work on it.
- 2:27So again we come back to this one.
- 2:30Very imple fact of you get to decide about how you feel.
- 2:34So stress, back to the subject at hand, here it encompasses,
- 2:40our whole body, when it fires off.
- 2:42As you all know, it's part of fight or flight, very important
- 2:47distinction when it comes up. It's like it.
- 2:50It feels like it's survival inside of us because we're so
- 2:53intrinsically tied to fight or flight.
- 2:56We can't get away from it under normal circumstances.
- 3:00It's Post to be used for life-threatening situations and
- 3:05tell you to move, but because we don't have our fight-or-flight
- 3:11worlds in place every single day and our lives have changed over
- 3:15hundreds of years. So much, thousands of years
- 3:18they've changed so much. We're not always in survival,
- 3:21we're not always in survival mode.
- 3:23So because of that we don't need it quite so much but it still
- 3:26has a part of us and we take it and make things seem I'm bigger
- 3:31than they are so huge. Part of stress is because we are
- 3:34not telling ourselves the truth about situations and we are
- 3:38exaggerating them, whether we've become tied to stress, I mean I
- 3:44see a lot of clients that are very addicted to stress.
- 3:47Meaning they don't even realize how addicted to it.
- 3:50They are they just go to it as their response, it gives them
- 3:53something to talk about. It gives them something to
- 3:56identify with with other people, it gives them something to
- 3:59connect with other people. It gives them a feeling of
- 4:03certainty because they know it's always available to them in as
- 4:07crazy as that sounds. You're going to say, what is she
- 4:09talking about? It's no different than a child
- 4:11who causes a problem in the house and he gets in trouble and
- 4:14parents will say well, but he knows, he's going to get in
- 4:16trouble. Yes, he knows he's going to get
- 4:18in trouble but that response of getting in trouble is something
- 4:22that's more valuable to him. Then making the change, he is
- 4:26okay. With the fact, he's going to get
- 4:28in trouble. He's getting attention and we
- 4:30All get attention for talking about stress.
- 4:33We get attention for connecting with other people on it because
- 4:36we feel like, oh yeah, you get it to.
- 4:38Oh, okay. And lo and behold.
- 4:41We wonder why we have an addiction to it.
- 4:44So stress in itself, has to be defined so that you understand
- 4:49exactly what's going on. So today is about us, really
- 4:52defining stress for you and saying, where is the showing up
- 4:56in my life? How are these little tiny
- 4:59fractures? Of my mindset of my point of
- 5:03view of my view of the world creating for me a stress
- 5:07situation every single day that I identify with go to and have
- 5:12an issue with. So I want you to take today and
- 5:15I want you to look for all of those factors that stress you
- 5:19out, whether it's simple things like I can't find my keys or
- 5:24it's more complex and someone that's able, that's not simple.
- 5:27But most of the time it is we just make it much bigger than it
- 5:30is. I look for the things that you
- 5:32make much bigger than they are. Look for the things that are not
- 5:36great as far as your responses, look for how you feel in the
- 5:41process of it and say, okay, was that stress-related?
- 5:44Did I create that stress? And if you get an answer back
- 5:48that says well, no my boss created that stress, I want you
- 5:51to pause. I want you to think about it and
- 5:54I want you to say, was it, really my boss or did he just
- 5:57come to me with the problem and I created the stress because I
- 6:01want you to all remember when emotions go up intelligence goes
- 6:06down. So, if you are in a process of
- 6:09constantly feeling stressed, you are not at your best to solve
- 6:13any problems, and you have to stop yourself and you have to be
- 6:16willing to say. Nope, I'm just going to remain
- 6:18calm. I'm going to Center myself and
- 6:20I'm going to go back now tomorrow.
- 6:23Part two of this. I'm going to talk about ways
- 6:26that we can de-stress ourselves strategies that we can use and
- 6:32start this process so that we have a little tool bag if you
- 6:36will of things that are ready for us.
- 6:38So today, your homework just go look for all those stressful
- 6:42situations and identify them all.
- 6:45So you can see how to avoid them by simply identifying them
- 6:49because simple things like your keys, well, that can easily
- 6:53Fixed, if you set up a situation where when you come in the
- 6:55house, you immediately, put those keys somewhere, where, you
- 6:59know where they are, we walk in our door and right there, right?
- 7:02Right there. You, we have a dump station
- 7:05where we can go ahead and put shoes backpacks, handbags Keys
- 7:11glasses, all of it, if you take more than six steps into your
- 7:16house and you're dumping things on your kitchen, counter your
- 7:19dining room table, you're putting things in a spot.
- 7:23Where you don't, you know, they're going to get moved by
- 7:26other people. You're setting yourself up for
- 7:28failure, right away, and then the stress shows up.
- 7:30So, all I'm saying, is there are ways to fix this and you can't
- 7:34fix them. If you don't know what you're
- 7:35fixing, you can't just say I'm stressed.
- 7:38If you don't know what's stressing you, so look for the
- 7:42stress today. That's your homework and I will
- 7:44see you all tomorrow and I hope you have a very peaceful day.
- 7:48Take care guys. Bye.
