- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome into Off the Bench, presented by All Star to order.
- 0:06Speaker 2: At your home risk. We're bringing you the school sports
- 0:10Speaker 2: talking so with Jacob Hester and it might even why
- 0:18Speaker 2: from the Haunted.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Here's Jacob Hester, welcome back in O TV.
- 0:32Speaker 4: That's I don't know what's better the robot voice and
- 0:36Speaker 4: mean not getting used to that or your NFL comp
- 0:39Speaker 4: being Tim Tebow.
- 0:42Speaker 2: The comp. It's the comp. The voice squeak earlier in
- 0:46Speaker 2: the show. I think it's the comp. Though. What can
- 0:49Speaker 2: I do right today?
- 0:51Speaker 5: Uh?
- 0:52Speaker 2: I think you should just.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Start over and start over and try again tomorrow.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I just got to go home.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll see it Rouses tomorrow. But we appreciate you,
- 1:04Speaker 4: thank you for your service.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Man. I gotta go. I gotta go after this. I
- 1:08Speaker 2: gotta go slank some hydration, some world class my high
- 1:12Speaker 2: trigged my high dot com or you can pick it
- 1:15Speaker 2: up at Rouses tomorrow. That's what I do. We got
- 1:17Speaker 2: the shipment's going out to colleges all over the country,
- 1:19Speaker 2: hydrating teams, athletes, pro collegiate, everything in between. We talk
- 1:26Speaker 2: in fire departments, police departments, military job sites.
- 1:33Speaker 4: They all get hydrated. What about your co host? You
- 1:38Speaker 4: gotta pay for that when I started the show, I
- 1:43Speaker 4: brought fifty you did those were now a long time ago,
- 1:47Speaker 4: that a while ago. I know, I owed the studios
- 1:49Speaker 4: to my high for sure. So I don't know if
- 1:53Speaker 4: anyone saw this, But obviously in college athletics now it's
- 1:57Speaker 4: about dollars and since now it always has been, but
- 2:00Speaker 4: even more so now with revenue sharing and nil and
- 2:04Speaker 4: trying to make sure that you always have enough cash
- 2:07Speaker 4: to be able to fill your roster. Stanford football received
- 2:12Speaker 4: a fifty million dollar donation from a former player. Fifty
- 2:17Speaker 4: million dollars so the donation comes from former Stanford football
- 2:22Speaker 4: player Bradford M Freeman, who graduated from the school in
- 2:26Speaker 4: nineteen sixty four and has been a major Stanford donor
- 2:31Speaker 4: for decades. Whoa oh, fifty million? I think Andrew Luck
- 2:37Speaker 4: can do a lot with that, at least you hope.
- 2:39Speaker 4: So because they are bad, it's a little bit of
- 2:40Speaker 4: clickbait there. Because we were discussing in the office yesterday
- 2:43Speaker 4: after the show about who's this player?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Is it Christian McCaffery, is it Andrew Like, who's made
- 2:48Speaker 2: that kind of coin? Didn't say Bradford M free We
- 2:51Speaker 2: were thinking about recent players. There was a little bit
- 2:53Speaker 2: of clickbait headlines there. But yeah, fifty million nothing, I
- 2:56Speaker 2: don't think. I don't think cemac is given fifty million
- 3:00Speaker 2: million explaining this to me, So they got they got
- 3:03Speaker 2: fifty million, Great, what can they do? Like, isn't there
- 3:06Speaker 2: some sort of there's some sort of limitations on it.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Now there's some sort of salary cap. You can't just right,
- 3:11Speaker 2: but you got to you got to be able to
- 3:12Speaker 2: raise that salary cap. Like, yeah, but it's twenty something
- 3:15Speaker 2: twenty plus million, Like, there's gonna be some that don't
- 3:18Speaker 2: have twenty something million. I got it, but I'm just
- 3:20Speaker 2: saying fifty million it's just a little bit too much.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Well, I mean no, it can be your revenue share
- 3:27Speaker 4: for a year and then you could still put twenty
- 3:29Speaker 4: plus million into facilities yep, to coaching staff.
- 3:34Speaker 2: There is a lot of that happening around the country,
- 3:36Speaker 2: and I see it because I work with many, many,
- 3:39Speaker 2: many different athletic departments with their budgets, with the hydration
- 3:42Speaker 2: am I high. Like, there's there's a lot of a
- 3:44Speaker 2: lot of colleges that like you're like you're saying they
- 3:47Speaker 2: don't have that type of support from alumni or boosters
- 3:51Speaker 2: or whoever it is, and they have to go out
- 3:53Speaker 2: that's the name of the game. Pay for players now,
- 3:56Speaker 2: pay for play. It's like they have to make cuts
- 3:59Speaker 2: other places to make room for that money. So not
- 4:02Speaker 2: all schools have that luxury like you're saying. So they're
- 4:04Speaker 2: having to cut back on their facilities, They're having to
- 4:07Speaker 2: cut back on their types of food, their supplementation for athletes,
- 4:10Speaker 2: their health, their medica. Like, they're having to make cuts
- 4:12Speaker 2: in different places. A lot of staff is also being like,
- 4:16Speaker 2: go to make room for these players salary, I say,
- 4:20Speaker 2: is this can you call it salaries?
- 4:22Speaker 5: Now?
- 4:23Speaker 2: We can do whatever whatever I mean.
- 4:24Speaker 4: When you're compared to Tim Tebow's NFL career, you've had
- 4:27Speaker 4: a bad day already.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So but it's kind of like, you know, that's seeing
- 4:31Speaker 2: and office space where you know they're like, what exactly
- 4:33Speaker 2: do you do on a day to day basis what
- 4:37Speaker 2: you'd say you do here. There's some people at places
- 4:41Speaker 2: that are just people persons, you know, people a paper person.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So there's been a lot of like but when you
- 4:50Speaker 2: have something like that happens, you can keep everything you can.
- 4:53Speaker 2: You can the way you supplement and keep your guys
- 4:57Speaker 2: because in a nutrition station that it's like it's it's
- 5:01Speaker 2: a huge thing these days. And I say nutrition because
- 5:04Speaker 2: we talked to Jeff Michael Johnson every single week about that.
- 5:07Speaker 2: It's not only is it important for the health and
- 5:10Speaker 2: the longevity and getting these guys recovered weekend, week out,
- 5:14Speaker 2: day in day out, like the performance they can put
- 5:17Speaker 2: forth just from the nutrition from a food standpoint and
- 5:21Speaker 2: a supplementation standpoint, and the extra stuff there. There's there's
- 5:25Speaker 2: extra treatments, there's massages, there's dry needle, there's all these
- 5:28Speaker 2: different things that have never you know, like when we
- 5:31Speaker 2: were When we were there, it was there a little bit.
- 5:33Speaker 2: There was a small budget for like some supplements, very
- 5:36Speaker 2: small mofit. Used to buy like those naked remembers that
- 5:39Speaker 2: became too expensive. It did.
- 5:41Speaker 4: He bought naked drinks and he had to stop because
- 5:43Speaker 4: it was too expensive.
- 5:44Speaker 2: It just got like apples after that.
- 5:47Speaker 4: But then all that plays apart into of course, it
- 5:49Speaker 4: helps the players get ready, but it also plays a
- 5:51Speaker 4: part in recruiting as well.
- 5:53Speaker 2: If you go to one school that's like, well, I
- 5:54Speaker 2: got all this stuff here, Like I can come in
- 5:57Speaker 2: here and get a meal anytime I want. I can
- 5:58Speaker 2: come here and get you know, fish soil and vitamins
- 6:01Speaker 2: in my eye and all this stuff right here and
- 6:03Speaker 2: like have all this support and over here. They can't
- 6:06Speaker 2: really afford all that because they're having to use all
- 6:08Speaker 2: the money to spend on players. It makes a big
- 6:10Speaker 2: deal in the recruiting pitch. And that's why it's like
- 6:13Speaker 2: it's an arms race and facilities like Okay, well you know, ls,
- 6:16Speaker 2: you just got a cool hot tub. Well we need
- 6:18Speaker 2: a cool hot tub with led lights on it and
- 6:20Speaker 2: the speaker system and all the PlayStations and all that stuff.
- 6:23Speaker 2: So like you got to keep the shop. But it's
- 6:26Speaker 2: it's it's from everything. So yeah, I hear it all
- 6:29Speaker 2: the time, from from coast to coast from different places,
- 6:31Speaker 2: Like we're making so many cuts to staff. We're making
- 6:34Speaker 2: so many cuts to what we can provide our players
- 6:36Speaker 2: because we have to pay guys. Now.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, that's twenty million dollars that it's got
- 6:41Speaker 4: to come from somewhere. And I'm not saying that, you know,
- 6:43Speaker 4: they didn't have, you know, an idea of budgeting and
- 6:48Speaker 4: where they would put those resources. But there are some
- 6:51Speaker 4: that are having to make that final five million dollars
- 6:53Speaker 4: up and they're.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Like, oh boy, where's that come from?
- 6:56Speaker 4: And you're right like it like, facilities isn't as big
- 7:00Speaker 4: of a deal as it used to be now in Nil,
- 7:02Speaker 4: but it's still a part of it. And like you're
- 7:04Speaker 4: talking about the training table and stuff. Like when I
- 7:06Speaker 4: fly out with the team to go cover a game
- 7:08Speaker 4: and I'm like walking through there on Fridays, I'm like, so,
- 7:10Speaker 4: y'all can just pick up like anything from this area
- 7:13Speaker 4: anytime y'all want. It's like, it's just that's what they have.
- 7:17Speaker 4: They have all the spread, right, and they have all
- 7:19Speaker 4: the food, and they all on.
- 7:20Speaker 2: A plane our bus. It was like cold Popeyes. Now
- 7:23Speaker 2: it's probably delicious raisin canes. Too many?
- 7:29Speaker 4: Yeah, gosh, how many cold Popeyes?
- 7:32Speaker 2: How many? How many cold chicken breasts that I have
- 7:36Speaker 2: to sit there and force myself to because I was
- 7:38Speaker 2: just starving a lot fight not cold like okay, cold
- 7:41Speaker 2: chicken out refrigerated leftovers awesome, love it. Yeah, just like
- 7:44Speaker 2: a good cold pizza, but.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Not like you know, we slowly came down to room
- 7:49Speaker 4: temperature over the span of like three hours of sitting
- 7:52Speaker 4: on a plane seat, yeah, waiting for somebody to come
- 7:55Speaker 4: sit on that seat.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 7:56Speaker 4: That's what we had to deal with there, and they
- 7:58Speaker 4: don't have to deal with that anymore. So look places
- 8:01Speaker 4: like Stanford, like they probably need something like this because
- 8:04Speaker 4: I don't know, like because your football is not their
- 8:07Speaker 4: top priority. So like this will help the program out
- 8:10Speaker 4: for multiple years. Now, how many schools get this? I
- 8:14Speaker 4: don't know. There's gonna be some power for schools that
- 8:18Speaker 4: they're going to struggle to get to that number every year,
- 8:22Speaker 4: and there's certainly going to be some G six schools
- 8:23Speaker 4: that can't get to that number. Yeah, multiple yes, Yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 4: but like can Purdue get to that number every single year?
- 8:34Speaker 4: Like doing the Big Ten so they get some you know,
- 8:36Speaker 4: the revenue from those TV contracts, So maybe that's not
- 8:40Speaker 4: can Wake Forest do that?
- 8:42Speaker 2: And you got to think about a lot of these
- 8:44Speaker 2: like for football to like you got to think of
- 8:45Speaker 2: basketball schools, you know, like Duke You and Sane like
- 8:48Speaker 2: like those like are they going to get that for.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Yeah, because that's going to be spread out in the
- 8:52Speaker 4: athletic department right exactly.
- 8:54Speaker 2: And you know, if you're a.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Guy that Kentucky and Kansas Duke you n C. If
- 8:59Speaker 4: you're a guy that to let's just take the Stanford guy.
- 9:01Speaker 2: For example, it's a former football player, I'm going to
- 9:04Speaker 2: give you fifty million, but like I know, you kind
- 9:07Speaker 2: of kind of spread it around. But this is for football.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Let's be honest, Like you might have that at a
- 9:11Speaker 2: basketball Scholay. Look, this is I'm a I'm a Yukon fan.
- 9:14Speaker 2: This is going to basketball. I want this to go
- 9:16Speaker 2: to basketball. Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah, you got Villa Nova who plays in the Big
- 9:21Speaker 4: East AND's one national championships in basketball. They play at
- 9:23Speaker 4: the FCS level in football, Hey, guys, uh, this is
- 9:27Speaker 4: going to the hardwood. This is going to the court.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yep.
- 9:30Speaker 4: So going to the gridiron like that's that's going to
- 9:33Speaker 4: be a fascinating part of it. We talked about it
- 9:35Speaker 4: with even Mississippi State, right, and look, we love coach
- 9:39Speaker 4: Levy and we love where the program's going, and it's
- 9:41Speaker 4: fun to watch them continue to develop. But baseball's king there, right,
- 9:47Speaker 4: Like you go to a baseball weekend in Stargville and
- 9:49Speaker 4: it's it's incredible, right, I mean, as there's people everywhere.
- 9:51Speaker 4: And then I mean not that football doesn't have support,
- 9:54Speaker 4: they certainly do. I mean is it's like baseball is
- 9:57Speaker 4: king there, So you know how much more does Mississippi
- 10:02Speaker 4: State give to baseball than say a give me another
- 10:08Speaker 4: school in the SEC South Carolina, right, or or anybody
- 10:12Speaker 4: like how much more did they give? Do they give
- 10:14Speaker 4: more to that baseball program?
- 10:15Speaker 2: Like that?
- 10:16Speaker 4: Those are decisions that you're going to have to kind
- 10:19Speaker 4: of lay out in pro and con and the basketball
- 10:22Speaker 4: schools obviously included as well.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Oh Man, college football.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Is exactly what you thought we'd be talking about ten
- 10:31Speaker 4: years ago. Absolutely rev share players getting paid, where that
- 10:39Speaker 4: money goes.
- 10:39Speaker 2: All of that? What did will we do again before
- 10:45Speaker 2: his time? Before more? Too soon? Couple, He's about to
- 10:50Speaker 2: win a lot of.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Basketball games, right North Carolina. I can promise you that,
- 10:54Speaker 4: all right, we will step away and when we come back,
- 10:57Speaker 4: we're going to catch up with our guys. Chef Michael,
- 11:00Speaker 4: answer your munchie questions, and we'll do it right here

- 12:50Speaker 4: I mean we're adell in our three already. Yeah, we
- 12:53Speaker 4: are trying to get the chef Michael Johnson. He's not
- 12:57Speaker 4: answering should we send out an SOS. He's now were
- 13:00Speaker 4: not answered before. Yeah, well he's keeping our athletes fed.
- 13:02Speaker 4: We got a big game this weekend.
- 13:04Speaker 2: That's very fair. I know that she plays South Carolina.
- 13:06Speaker 2: They are the game Cocks. Game Cocks.
- 13:08Speaker 4: They hail from what city, Columbia. I'm so proud of
- 13:13Speaker 4: you right now, I thought, no shot, he knows that.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Tigers versus the Cocks. Let's go big game. Lenora's sellers
- 13:21Speaker 2: strutting in here. Pea cocking, pea cocking, fancy chicken, And
- 13:28Speaker 2: that is what it is, right, game Cock. That's a
- 13:31Speaker 2: Chanta Claire. That's a shot fancy game Cock. It's just
- 13:34Speaker 2: like a fighting chicken, fighting chicken. We put the rooster,
- 13:37Speaker 2: but you put the little They put the knives on
- 13:39Speaker 2: their feet. I had a guy in, we don't tell
- 13:42Speaker 2: us anything illegal here on there, bud Well, that's statue
- 13:45Speaker 2: of limitations. I feel like, okay, I had a buddy
- 13:47Speaker 2: mine in middle school growing up in Tyler, Texas who
- 13:52Speaker 2: they did cock fighting. Uh, they were parents, they fought,
- 13:56Speaker 2: they fought chickens. They couldn't do it at the time.
- 14:00Speaker 2: This is what he told me. I didn't fact check
- 14:02Speaker 2: him at the time. Didn't really have access to the
- 14:04Speaker 2: internet as a you know, eleven year old, you had it.
- 14:07Speaker 2: He just went, yeah, I guess it. So I just
- 14:10Speaker 2: don't know if you'd find as much information as you can. So,
- 14:14Speaker 2: but he would like he would. He brought a VHS
- 14:16Speaker 2: tape to me one time and I watched it. It
- 14:18Speaker 2: was like, that was pretty wild. But he's on the weekends,
- 14:21Speaker 2: they would pack up their chickens and they would drive
- 14:25Speaker 2: across the border to Louisiana to do cockfighting. Wow, so
- 14:31Speaker 2: they raise chickens and then but they couldn't do it
- 14:33Speaker 2: in Texas because I guess it was illegal. I'll know
- 14:35Speaker 2: if it was legal anywhere easier to get away with
- 14:38Speaker 2: the Louisiana, I guess. So I don't really know. Anyway,
- 14:46Speaker 2: that was exciting because I had never heard of it.
- 14:48Speaker 2: You know, you're sixth seventh grader, never heard of this,
- 14:51Speaker 2: and then you know your buddy brings you a VHS
- 14:53Speaker 2: tape of which game Cocks.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Fighter Daniel says, I guess statute of limitation.
- 15:00Speaker 2: It's ten years on a felony and five on a misdemeanor.
- 15:02Speaker 2: So Matt's good. Good, We're good. I didn't give any
- 15:06Speaker 2: names either, No, he didn't. He didn't. A lot of
- 15:11Speaker 2: I thinks and could have been, could have been in Louisiana.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure he definitely was.
- 15:17Speaker 4: What are you talking about inside the chad that you said?
- 15:19Speaker 4: I feel like I'm not paying enough attention to keep
- 15:21Speaker 4: up with the inside jokes.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I don't know. They keep saying things over my head
- 15:24Speaker 2: right now. Well, like what well they were talking about
- 15:28Speaker 2: some sort of poster of Rudy. I don't know. Is
- 15:32Speaker 2: there a poster Rudy like behind you somewhere? No, that's
- 15:34Speaker 2: what I was looking for. Oh on the website protest?
- 15:37Speaker 2: Oh yeah. I want to remind you. If you want
- 15:40Speaker 2: a free.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Flynn Hester jersey, all you gotta is go buy something
- 15:46Speaker 4: from the website, and if you spend over three hundred
- 15:50Speaker 4: dollars the first two to do it, you get autograph
- 15:53Speaker 4: jerseys that have inscriptions on them. Mine says Gator haters.
- 15:57Speaker 4: I don't know what Flynn said. I think put the
- 16:00Speaker 4: job role lyric, living it up. I did, wrote it
- 16:07Speaker 4: upside down, had a game warn one wrote it upside
- 16:10Speaker 4: down because it.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Was it was on me, It was on my person,
- 16:12Speaker 2: all right. I want to say person worn, not really
- 16:15Speaker 2: player worn.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Uh yeah, don't say player. As far as we are,
- 16:21Speaker 4: I don't think we can use that term, all right.
- 16:22Speaker 4: I think we do have chef Michael Johnson chef what's that?
- 16:26Speaker 2: Brother? Can hear us?
- 16:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I can hear you all.
- 16:29Speaker 4: We are doing great, doing fantastic blessing Holly favored, So
- 16:32Speaker 4: appreciate your time there, sir.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Do we know what a game cock is?
- 16:38Speaker 6: Uh?
- 16:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think it's specifically a fighting rooster, right, Okay,
- 16:45Speaker 5: it's not Yeah yeah, I think that it's a kind
- 16:48Speaker 5: of a niche creature, right all right.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I have to be trained to be a game cock,
- 16:53Speaker 2: all right, So it's not born that way, all right.
- 16:57Speaker 5: I don't believe so I think you have to go
- 17:00Speaker 5: through a baby.
- 17:01Speaker 2: All right.
- 17:01Speaker 4: So I mean I'm just trying to figure out, like
- 17:04Speaker 4: if we beat South Carolina this weekend, because when we
- 17:07Speaker 4: beat Florida Gators on the menu, like what's on the
- 17:09Speaker 4: menu if we beat South Carolina.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I just pride, you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 17:19Speaker 5: chicken there the week, so I'm not sure that they
- 17:21Speaker 5: think special gonna come out of And you know, usually
- 17:25Speaker 5: those fighting birds are a little tough for the dining.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, okay, fair point, fair point. He's a
- 17:32Speaker 2: these chickens were eating this week were actually slaughtered in
- 17:34Speaker 2: the ring. All right. Yeah, let's see.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Hashtag Munchies ranked these kitchen injuries one through three.
- 17:47Speaker 2: So in order question burns, cuts are.
- 17:51Speaker 4: A slipping fall, all right, so worst being I guess one,
- 17:55Speaker 4: and then you know, going down the line, So a cut,
- 17:58Speaker 4: a burn, or a slipping fall.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Yeah, well, seriousness, in all seriousness, slips, slip slip balls
- 18:04Speaker 5: are probably the most common and most harmful to the kitchen.
- 18:09Speaker 5: If you show me a chef that doesn't have burns
- 18:11Speaker 5: or cuts on their hands, I'm going to show you
- 18:13Speaker 5: a chef that hasn't spent enough time in the kitchen,
- 18:15Speaker 5: right yeah, or one that's been so experienced that they
- 18:19Speaker 5: have gotten to the place where they don't do it anymore,
- 18:21Speaker 5: which is kind of a rarity. So I'm going to say,
- 18:25Speaker 5: you know, in terms of worse, you know, shoops and
- 18:28Speaker 5: trips are going to be up there. Plus you know
- 18:30Speaker 5: when you slip and trip fall exhues especially, it really
- 18:35Speaker 5: pitches you off, right, Like, it's it's quite bothersome.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Right, I've slipped that coming.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Out of the freezer before and you know, not be
- 18:42Speaker 5: able to move for a couple of you know, like
- 18:44Speaker 5: thirty seconds or so because of one the embarrassment but
- 18:48Speaker 5: also to the shock to my spine. Right, But I
- 18:51Speaker 5: think cuts probably next. I'll tolerate a burn. It it's
- 18:56Speaker 5: it's it's bothersome. But I think you know, a cut
- 19:00Speaker 5: tends to linger on, and not only that, it's the
- 19:03Speaker 5: gift that keeps on giving, right, Like if you have
- 19:05Speaker 5: a cut on your hand or your finger, you know,
- 19:08Speaker 5: like if you get lemon juice in that later on
- 19:10Speaker 5: in the bay, that it's gonna remind you immediately of
- 19:12Speaker 5: that cuts, right, And.
- 19:14Speaker 6: So I don't know. I think chefs.
- 19:17Speaker 5: Chefs are born to knives and fire, So I think
- 19:19Speaker 5: we'll tolerate both of them, and I think they're probably
- 19:23Speaker 5: arguably interchangeable. Two and three are a tie for two
- 19:26Speaker 5: and not a third. But the slips and trips, man,
- 19:28Speaker 5: that's just at the banger, right, there I will do without.
- 19:31Speaker 6: But i'll do without that.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I'll be long sometimes, chef. If you have like a
- 19:35Speaker 2: really sharp knife too, and you get nicked like you
- 19:37Speaker 2: don't know it, like for for a little while. So like,
- 19:39Speaker 2: I'm sure you've had the experience of all right, I'm cut,
- 19:42Speaker 2: I'm bleeding. I don't know really when I started. So
- 19:45Speaker 2: I gotta like throw away everything.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Yes, that's happened a few different times. And I have
- 19:50Speaker 5: some horror stories of of you know, bits of the pindages,
- 19:54Speaker 5: you know, being lopped off, and you know, like not
- 19:57Speaker 5: only do you have to send this human being to
- 19:59Speaker 5: the hospital, you get something so back on, but then
- 20:01Speaker 5: you have to find the bits.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Yeah, we've had some doozies in the kitchen. Not he
- 20:08Speaker 5: necessarily here, but in my time and experience.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Yeah, this one comes from our guy, Daniel Bashm chef
- 20:15Speaker 4: hashtag munchies.
- 20:16Speaker 2: How far out do you plan for Thanksgiving?
- 20:19Speaker 4: If I'm not mistaken, though, you don't do the cooking
- 20:22Speaker 4: on Thanksgiving?
- 20:23Speaker 5: I don't typically. I did last year and it was
- 20:26Speaker 5: an absolute crap show. Man.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I last year. Last year, I.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Had been on a I was on a much. I
- 20:39Speaker 5: hadn't been eating for twenty twenty one days. I was
- 20:43Speaker 5: on Daniel's fast. It was a spiritual deal. And so
- 20:46Speaker 5: when I had some wine while I was cooking, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 5: like two glasses of wine I got, I was I was.
- 20:52Speaker 6: Feeling like, you know, well, I was like white girl,
- 20:56Speaker 6: white girl wasted.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I thought.
- 21:01Speaker 5: I hadn't eaten properly for like three weeks and I
- 21:05Speaker 5: dropped the damn turkey coming out of the oven. And yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 5: so it was it was a bit of a prep show.
- 21:11Speaker 6: So planning wise.
- 21:14Speaker 5: You know, like here at the nutrition center. It's interesting
- 21:16Speaker 5: because at the Nutrition Center, I.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Can plan to two to three weeks out.
- 21:20Speaker 5: I can even plan a year out, not not necessarily
- 21:22Speaker 5: for Thanksgiving, but yeah, we're thinking about Thanksgiving in October,
- 21:25Speaker 5: right because we have and sometimes even earlier that because
- 21:29Speaker 5: we order our turkeys six months in advance so that
- 21:32Speaker 5: they know they can grow that turkey to a proper
- 21:35Speaker 5: size for us, and they know what size turkeys we want.
- 21:37Speaker 5: So we actually start these conversations further out. But when
- 21:41Speaker 5: it comes to my home, I'm not quite as diligent
- 21:43Speaker 5: about planning, you know, I'm like, stay before Thanksgiving, are
- 21:47Speaker 5: we gonna eat turkey tomorrow?
- 21:48Speaker 2: Or you know what I mean.
- 21:50Speaker 6: So maybe not a day out.
- 21:51Speaker 5: But I think when you put that energy into that
- 21:55Speaker 5: amount of energy that you do into your profession, sometimes
- 21:58Speaker 5: your personal life tends to give a little bit.
- 22:01Speaker 2: So chef turkey or ham, uh turkey, you.
- 22:06Speaker 6: Know, I'll eat ham.
- 22:08Speaker 5: And honestly, I've gotten to the place where I like
- 22:10Speaker 5: crime rib ah.
- 22:12Speaker 4: Can't have money, Oh boy, can't have it.
- 22:17Speaker 2: It does be nice. How's the air up there, chef jeez?
- 22:23Speaker 5: Yeah, well it is what it is.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I don't want to like any it's early October. I don't
- 22:32Speaker 2: want to ask too many things, but like too many
- 22:34Speaker 2: Thanksgiving questions. But you got me thinking of what you
- 22:37Speaker 2: just said. How many turkeys does the team or all
- 22:40Speaker 2: the athletes go through?
- 22:42Speaker 5: You know, it's usually like six or eight and and
- 22:46Speaker 5: and that also includes some some staffers because we serve it.
- 22:50Speaker 5: We serve it primarily at lunch. And and I mean
- 22:54Speaker 5: we serve I don't know, three hundred and fifty people
- 22:56Speaker 5: at lunch, probably close to four hundred, so and not
- 22:59Speaker 5: everybody like turkey. We also we also get black forest
- 23:01Speaker 5: hands for us as well.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, obviously.
- 23:11Speaker 6: I love my little private little yeah, but we we
- 23:17Speaker 6: go through.
- 23:17Speaker 2: A decent amount.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Hashtag monchies. What is the best way to incorporate beets
- 23:23Speaker 4: into my diet? So they because they don't taste great.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Yeah, if you poach or or slow roast or what
- 23:30Speaker 5: we do is called a melt up the beach with oil,
- 23:35Speaker 5: rapp it and foil and roasted at about two hundred
- 23:38Speaker 5: degrees until it's soft like a baked potato, right like
- 23:42Speaker 5: you can pierce ah a knife through it without resistance.
- 23:47Speaker 5: What happens is is when you cook it slower versus fast,
- 23:50Speaker 5: that the sugars and it kind of slowly melts, if
- 23:53Speaker 5: you will, or they say they kind of, Uh, it's
- 23:57Speaker 5: it's kind of like when you boil garlic. Right when
- 23:59Speaker 5: you eat a of them garlic when it's fresh, it's
- 24:02Speaker 5: really sharp and and and has that that uh you know,
- 24:06Speaker 5: real bite to it. Well beats to the same way
- 24:09Speaker 5: when you cook them slow and low and and take
- 24:12Speaker 5: your time with it, the sugars and then build and
- 24:15Speaker 5: they caramelize and instead of it becoming this little bitter thing,
- 24:19Speaker 5: it actually sweetens to beat up and it you know,
- 24:22Speaker 5: you peel the skin back and I'd like to slice
- 24:24Speaker 5: them and put them into uh you can also put
- 24:27Speaker 5: it into like smoothies.
- 24:29Speaker 6: You don't want to get on clothes up that will
- 24:31Speaker 6: go bad for you.
- 24:32Speaker 5: But yeah, I like to slow roast them and it
- 24:37Speaker 5: develops that sweetness out of them that's not quite so
- 24:39Speaker 5: bitter cheff.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I got one here. I had to look this up
- 24:42Speaker 2: to make sure it was a real thing and they
- 24:44Speaker 2: weren't just putting something like, you know, not approved for
- 24:48Speaker 2: the airwaves on here.
- 24:49Speaker 4: But hashtag much is when cooking bulgogi beef, is it
- 24:53Speaker 4: best to do a quick light ser do you have
- 24:55Speaker 4: any recommend recommendations?
- 24:57Speaker 6: Well gogi?
- 24:57Speaker 5: Yeah, so what we do, yes, typically what we do
- 25:00Speaker 5: with bogogi is is it's a thinley twice. I like
- 25:05Speaker 5: the marinate bogogi uh in like a it's it's like
- 25:10Speaker 5: a Korean barbecue sauce if you will, with mir and
- 25:13Speaker 5: soy Japanese h apples or Japanese pears, the Asian Asian pears,
- 25:21Speaker 5: whatever you call, some green onions and and let it
- 25:26Speaker 5: sit overnight. And and yes, it's a really quick high
- 25:29Speaker 5: heat sere and you're not wanting to take it too
- 25:32Speaker 5: terribly far because typically bulgogi is cut from a cut
- 25:36Speaker 5: that has a lot of connective tissue in it, and
- 25:38Speaker 5: it'll tense up and get real tough. So you're just
- 25:41Speaker 5: you're just putting it on a screaming hot heat source,
- 25:44Speaker 5: dry heat source, just to give it a little color
- 25:46Speaker 5: and pull.
- 25:48Speaker 2: All right, there he is.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Chef Michael Johnson joins us every single Thursday here on
- 25:53Speaker 4: ot B, and we appreciate every single time.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Jeff. If you're the man, we appreciate it. We'll catch
- 25:58Speaker 2: up again next week. Treat here you guys, team Turkey
- 26:02Speaker 2: or your team ham. Hope. I don't the good thing
- 26:06Speaker 2: about things like don't really get youre wrong. I'm gonna
- 26:09Speaker 2: eat both. Yeah, But that's the thing about it's like
- 26:12Speaker 2: you don't really have to choose.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Now.
- 26:13Speaker 2: If I'm thinking just for Thanksgiving, I'll choose turkey for
- 26:18Speaker 2: the sheer fact that that's the only time of the
- 26:19Speaker 2: year I'm eating it, Like I'm I'm a ham guy.
- 26:21Speaker 2: We will do it at we'll do it, Christmas will
- 26:24Speaker 2: do it, he said, we'll do it throughout the year.
- 26:27Speaker 2: But like side by side, blind taste has Ham over
- 26:29Speaker 2: turkey or a taste standpoint, but for a Thanksgiving like
- 26:32Speaker 2: I want the turkey, I'm gonna take you both down
- 26:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna take both down, but I want the turkey
- 26:35Speaker 2: just because it's a once a year type situation. I
- 26:38Speaker 2: really appreciate that. Chef's like, no, no, no, primary, uh no,
- 26:44Speaker 2: it's the it's the steak, actually prim.
- 26:47Speaker 4: At And then we called him out, like trying to,
- 26:49Speaker 4: you know, give him a little hard time. He's like, yeah,
- 26:51Speaker 4: it's fine as fine or whatever he said. It is
- 26:55Speaker 4: what it is. Work hard, yeah, fair enough, fair enough.
- 26:59Speaker 4: God watching this game and again and if you're just
- 27:01Speaker 4: joining us, the twenty nineteen National Championship Game is on.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Man Terres Marshall was such a good college football player.
- 27:08Speaker 4: He was such a good and I know he's hanging
- 27:11Speaker 4: on right now. I think he's on the Eagles practice squad,
- 27:13Speaker 4: but man, I wish he would have gone to a
- 27:15Speaker 4: different situation.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Out of the gates. Went to Carolina.
- 27:19Speaker 4: Not great, but man, he was really so was Thadyus
- 27:23Speaker 4: Moss too. I mean just really good college football.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Really shine at the Panthers. I'm may foreseeing with a
- 27:28Speaker 2: Xavier legat this year.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Hey, hey, nine hundred and ninety more yards Bud, and
- 27:33Speaker 4: he's got that thousand.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Yeah, he got double dig this last game. So it's
- 27:37Speaker 2: not a big deal. I don't.
- 27:39Speaker 4: I don't love my ball prediction because a case splitting
- 27:42Speaker 4: carries now with Kendred Millard, which I agree with, is
- 27:44Speaker 4: smart football play.
- 27:45Speaker 2: But I said my ball prediction.
- 27:48Speaker 4: He's gonna be a thousand yards for the first time.
- 27:50Speaker 4: Inn screw on the ground, some big ones.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Not looking good. Not looking good.
- 27:54Speaker 4: But it's okay because I actually like the direction of
- 27:56Speaker 4: the Saints running game. And now Ak finally has some
- 27:58Speaker 4: help there. All right, take a break, more OTB when
- 28:01Speaker 4: we come back here live.

- 30:44Speaker 2: what do we call the NFL thing party barge, the

- 30:49Speaker 2: we got the starting quarterback for your New Orleans Saint
- 30:52Speaker 2: Spencer rallergh rat Pack. We're gonna find out.
- 30:58Speaker 4: We're gonna ask, we're going to go straight to the approved.
- 31:02Speaker 4: We're gonna go straight to the source.
- 31:03Speaker 2: He might say, I don't want to be, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 2: have a rat in there. Never know, we'll see you
- 31:08Speaker 2: know what. He might want it more like a rattlesnake. Rattlesnake. Yep,
- 31:13Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, because you know there's not
- 31:16Speaker 2: a lot of good things about rats. Yeah, I guess not.
- 31:19Speaker 2: The master splinters about all I got for the Nutcracker.
- 31:23Speaker 2: That's one of the Vaughn's nicknames is rat King. Yeah,
- 31:28Speaker 2: like the os cool.
- 31:29Speaker 4: Okay, Ratchet, I am from the ratchet City, Shreveport.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Do love my hometown like that. Well, we'll get to
- 31:40Speaker 2: the conclusion. We'll get to the bottom of it. People,
- 31:42Speaker 2: don't worry. We'll ask the important stuff.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Uh yeah, it does always. By the way, a good
- 31:48Speaker 4: time to go for dose. So go ahead and go
- 31:51Speaker 4: for dose. Pick up your dose equis for your tailgate
- 31:55Speaker 4: because tailgating is not done right. If you forget the
- 31:58Speaker 4: ice cold do skis The ice is full so you
- 32:01Speaker 4: can get to your TV, you can get your tent,
- 32:02Speaker 4: your generator. But if you forget to go for dose,
- 32:04Speaker 4: did you really go tailgating? Summer asking yeah.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Some are asking don't drink those other beers. Make sure
- 32:09Speaker 2: you're drinking dose. Sekis all right.
- 32:12Speaker 4: So LSU South Carolina, We've talked a lot about it
- 32:15Speaker 4: here throughout the week.
- 32:16Speaker 2: We'll continue talking about it tomorrow.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Obviously, South Carolina is absolutely and must win now mode
- 32:23Speaker 4: because we talked about it earlier in the week. If
- 32:25Speaker 4: they don't win this game, it could really start a slide.
- 32:31Speaker 2: For South Carolina.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Their next five games they are at LSU, Oklahoma, at
- 32:36Speaker 4: home Alabama, at home at Ole Miss, at Texas A
- 32:39Speaker 4: and m so. In the next five games, they play
- 32:42Speaker 4: number four, number five, number six, number eight, and number
- 32:45Speaker 4: eleven in the country. In the country, not the SEC
- 32:50Speaker 4: in the country. They play those teams, and three of
- 32:53Speaker 4: those games are on the road. So in case again, four, five, six, eight,
- 32:59Speaker 4: and eleven, LSU being eleven is the lowest ranked team
- 33:04Speaker 4: in South Carolina will face in the next five games.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa, yeah, all right, well glad you got Sellers back.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I guess from his concussion. But you know this is
- 33:15Speaker 2: that's a tough road for the best team in the
- 33:19Speaker 2: country if they had to go through that, right, So,
- 33:21Speaker 2: South Carolina has had their issues this year. They've had
- 33:23Speaker 2: their struggles, but look, it's they're in the SEC. They
- 33:27Speaker 2: have talent, they have a quarterback who is strong, can run,
- 33:31Speaker 2: can throw, can do all the things. Man, they got
- 33:33Speaker 2: a puncher's chance at every single one of these games.
- 33:35Speaker 2: And of course we will continue to break down, especially tomorrow,
- 33:39Speaker 2: we'll give some predictions, a lot of keys to the victory,
- 33:42Speaker 2: keys for the LSU defense, the offense. But we've talked
- 33:45Speaker 2: about it. No matter what you do, we have to
- 33:48Speaker 2: see improvement on the offensive side of the ball, passing game,
- 33:52Speaker 2: running game. There's no one thing that we can't point
- 33:55Speaker 2: at and say, yep, that needs to get better. But
- 33:57Speaker 2: we do know from a running game standpoint, if they're
- 34:00Speaker 2: are not immediate improvements, it's gonna it's sure is gonna
- 34:04Speaker 2: make it pretty hard to improve the passing game as well.
- 34:07Speaker 2: So h got to get the running game going because
- 34:09Speaker 2: that is going to open up the offense for Garrett.
- 34:11Speaker 2: That's my the struggles that he's been having for whatever reason,
- 34:14Speaker 2: whatever the reasons are, that he is struggling. Of course
- 34:16Speaker 2: there has been struggles. It's not the same offense. It's
- 34:18Speaker 2: not the same passing attack as we've seen in the past.
- 34:21Speaker 2: So let's get the running game going, and let's get
- 34:23Speaker 2: it started fast. Like Jake said earlier in the show,
- 34:26Speaker 2: with that first fifteen, let's see what kind of creativity.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Let's see what we were able to put together, implement
- 34:32Speaker 2: and execute in this week off. And remember they had
- 34:35Speaker 2: a week off too.
- 34:36Speaker 4: I mean, so there's gonna be things that they have
- 34:39Speaker 4: worked on that they have done that they feel better about.
- 34:42Speaker 4: There's gonna be things that they feel like they have advantages.
- 34:45Speaker 4: So like it is not just you coming off of
- 34:49Speaker 4: bye week again like they are. They're coming off of
- 34:51Speaker 4: bye week. They're gonna have something with Lenora Sellers. They're
- 34:53Speaker 4: gonna have something in the run game. They're going to
- 34:56Speaker 4: have something that they think is going to slow down
- 34:59Speaker 4: your very agressive defense. So you're going to have to
- 35:02Speaker 4: adjust to their adjustment as well.
- 35:05Speaker 2: If you had to put money on this, let's just
- 35:10Speaker 2: say it's even money that LSU runs a power this weekend.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Are you taking that BT? No, they ought to say
- 35:17Speaker 2: don't take it because they have one. But you don't
- 35:20Speaker 2: think we see it not at once? God, I would
- 35:23Speaker 2: love to be wrong, and we're not gonna say that. Okay,
- 35:25Speaker 2: all right, look you can't just throw in one play
- 35:27Speaker 2: and think everything's fixed. But it just shows something that
- 35:31Speaker 2: you know, I think every team in the history of
- 35:33Speaker 2: you know, tackle football is run the power at some point.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I don't know if there's that. Has there ever been
- 35:39Speaker 2: a team that didn't run a power? I know that
- 35:43Speaker 2: that's a great question. There's ever been a team that's
- 35:45Speaker 2: never pulled a guard?
- 35:47Speaker 4: Yeah, just a guard and not two pullers. Yeah, that's
- 35:49Speaker 4: a great question.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Now I'm talking about middle school, high school, college pro
- 35:56Speaker 2: flag pull the guard? Have guards?
- 36:01Speaker 4: Oh, that's a great question. There's no way of looking
- 36:05Speaker 4: up in the history of football. But I feel pretty
- 36:08Speaker 4: confident in.
- 36:09Speaker 2: I got a new good buddy of mine, SAME's chat GPT.
- 36:13Speaker 2: I take that. I don't know, you don't even know
- 36:16Speaker 2: that answer.
- 36:17Speaker 4: All right, we are going to take our last break
- 36:20Speaker 4: of the show.
- 36:22Speaker 2: We do have as a bench coming up.
- 36:26Speaker 4: But also we're going to get an account or try
- 36:28Speaker 4: to get account on maybe how many jerseys they have
- 36:31Speaker 4: still left here and get those questions that you're asking
- 36:33Speaker 4: inside the chat about the shipping portion of that answered

- 44:05Speaker 2: logo looks good. Do that. We can use the old
- 44:09Speaker 2: kiss method to do that. Keep That's what I was
- 44:15Speaker 2: talking about there.
- 44:18Speaker 4: What do you think you think the Eagles win or
- 44:19Speaker 4: the Giants whim Eagles?
- 44:21Speaker 2: Although I'm going to watch the eater Kim Scattaboo run. God,
- 44:24Speaker 2: I love its the most perfect description of a human
- 44:30Speaker 2: being I think I've ever heard. When he said, he's
- 44:32Speaker 2: just like.

- 44:34Speaker 4: a little bad kid, and he is, Yeah, that's perfect.
- 44:38Speaker 4: So he even keeps his feet when he's mad, like
- 44:40Speaker 4: a little kid, and he licks windows.
- 44:45Speaker 2: All those are terms of endearment, guy. Absolutely. I know
- 44:47Speaker 2: they might not sound like it's you, but they are.
- 44:50Speaker 2: And if we said it to him, we would say
- 44:51Speaker 2: it damn and he would be like, thanks, guys, man,
