- 0:00Third Neyphi, chapter eighteen. And it came to pass that Jesus commanded his
- 0:06disciples that they should bring forth some bread and wine unto him. And while
- 0:10they were gone for bread and wine, he commanded the multitude that they should
- 0:14sit themselves down upon the earth. And when the disciples had come with bread
- 0:19and wine, he took of the bread and brake and blessed it. And
- 0:23he gave unto the disciples and commanded that they should eat. And when they
- 0:27had eaten and were filled, he commanded that they should give unto the multitude.
- 0:33And when the multitude had eaten and were filled, he said unto the
- 0:37disciples, Behold, there shall one be ordained among you, And to him
- 0:41will I give power, that he shall break bread and bless it and give
- 0:44it unto the people of my church, unto all those who shall believe and
- 0:48be baptized in my name. And this shall ye always observe to do,
- 0:53even as I have done, even as I have broken bread and blessed it
- 0:56and given it unto you. And this shall ye do in remembrance of my
- 1:00body, which I have shown unto you. And it shall be a testimony
- 1:04unto the Father that ye do always remember me, And if ye do always
- 1:08remember me, ye shall have my spirit to be with you. And it
- 1:12came to pass that when he said these words, he commanded his disciples that
- 1:18they should take of the wine of the cup and drink of it, and
- 1:21that they should also give unto the multitude, that they might drink of it.
- 1:26And it came to pass that they did so, and did drink of
- 1:29it and were filled. And they gave unto the multitude, and they did
- 1:34drink, and they were filled. And when the disciples had done this,
- 1:38Jesus said unto them, blessed or ye for this thing which ye have done.
- 1:42For this is fulfilling my commandments. And this doth witness unto the Father
- 1:49that ye are willing to do that which I have commanded you. And this
- 1:53shall ye always do to those who repent and are baptized in my name.
- 1:59And ye shall do it in remembrance of my blood which I have shed for
- 2:01you, that ye may witness unto the Father, that ye do always remember
- 2:06me. And if ye do always remember me, ye shall have my spirit
- 2:10to be with you. And I give unto you a commandment that ye shall
- 2:16do these things. And if ye shall always do these things. Blessed are
- 2:21ye, for ye are built upon my rock. But whoso among you shall
- 2:25do more or less than these are not built upon my rock, but are
- 2:30built upon a sandy foundation. And when the rain descends, and the floods
- 2:37come, and the winds blow and beat upon them, they shall fall,
- 2:40and the gates of Hell are ready open to receive them. Therefore, blessed
- 2:46are ye, if ye shall keep my commandments, which the Father hath commanded
- 2:51me that I should give unto you. Verily, verily, I say unto
- 2:54you, ye must watch and pray always, lest ye be tempted by the
- 2:59day, and ye be led away captive by him. And as I have
- 3:02prayed among you, even so shall ye pray in my church among my people
- 3:07who do repent and are baptized in my name. Behold, I am the
- 3:12Light. I have set an example for you. And it came to pass
- 3:16that when Jesus had spoken these words unto his disciples, he turned again unto
- 3:22the multitude and said unto them. Behold, Verily, verily I say unto
- 3:29you, ye must watch and pray always, lest ye enter into temptation,
- 3:32for Satan desires to have you that he may sift you as wheat. Therefore
- 3:38ye must always pray unto the Father in my name. And whatsoever ye shall
- 3:44ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall
- 3:49receive. Behold, it shall be given unto you. Pray in your families
- 3:53unto the Father always in my name, that your wives and your children and
- 4:00may be blessed. And behold, ye shall meet together oft. And ye
- 4:04shall not forbid any man from coming unto you when ye shall meet together,
- 4:10but suffer them that they may come unto you, and forbid them not.
- 4:14But ye shall pray for them, and shall not cast them out. And
- 4:17if it so be that they come unto you oft, ye shall pray for
- 4:20them unto the Father in my name. Therefore, hold up your light that
- 4:27it may shine unto the world. Behold, I am the light which ye
- 4:30shall hold up, that which ye have seen me do Behold. Ye see
- 4:35that I have prayed unto the Father, and ye all have witnessed. And
- 4:41ye see that I have commanded that none of you should go away, but
- 4:45rather have commanded that ye should come unto me, that ye might feel and
- 4:48see. Even so shall ye do unto the world and whosoever breaketh this commandment
- 4:55suffereth himself to be led into temptation. And now it came to pass that
- 5:00when Jesus had spoken these words, he turned his eyes again upon the disciples
- 5:05whom he had chosen, and said, unto them, Behold, verily,
- 5:11verily, I say unto you, I give unto you another commandment. And
- 5:15then I must go unto my Father, that I may fulfill other commandments which
- 5:20he hath given me. And now behold, this is the commandment which I
- 5:25give unto you, that ye shall not suffer any one knowingly to partake of
- 5:30my flesh and blood unworthily, when ye shall minister it. For whoso eateth
- 5:35and drinketh my flesh and blood unworthily eateth and drinketh damnation to his soul.
- 5:42Therefore, if ye know that a man is unworthy to eat and drink of
- 5:46my flesh and blood, ye shall forbid him. Nevertheless, ye shall not
- 5:50cast him out from among you, but ye shall minister unto him, and
- 5:56shall pray for him unto the Father in my name. And if it so
- 5:59be that he repenteth and is baptized in my name, then shall ye receive
- 6:03him. And shall minister unto him of my flesh and blood. But if
- 6:09he repent not, he shall not be numbered among my people, that he
- 6:14may not destroy my people. For behold, I know my sheep, and
- 6:16they are numbered. Nevertheless, ye shall not cast him out of your synagogues
- 6:23or your places of worship. For unto such shall ye continue to minister.
- 6:27For ye know not but what they will return and repent and come unto me
- 6:30with full purpose of heart. And I shall heal them, and ye shall
- 6:34be the means of bringing salvation unto them. Therefore, keep these sayings which
- 6:40I have commanded you, that ye come not under condemnation, for woe unto
- 6:45him whom the Father condemneth. And I give unto you these commandments because of
- 6:50the disputations which have been among you. And blessed are ye if ye have
- 6:56no disputations among you. And now by going to the Father, because it
- 7:00is expedient that I should go into the Father for your sakes. And it
- 7:04came to pass that when Jesus had made an end of these sayings, he
- 7:09touched with his hand the disciples whom he had chosen, one by one,
- 7:14even until he had touched them all. And spake unto them as he touched
- 7:17them, And the multitude heard not the words which he spake. Therefore they
- 7:23did not bear record. But the disciples bear record that he gave them power
- 7:28to give the Holy ghost. And I was show unto you hereafter that this
- 7:31record is true. And it came to pass that when Jesus had touched them
- 7:36all there came a cloud that overshadowed the multitude, that they could not see
- 7:41Jesus. And while they were overshadowed, he departed from them and ascended into
- 7:46heaven. And the disciples saw and bear record that he ascended again into heaven
- 7:54thirty five, chapter nineteen. And now it came to pass that when Jesus
- 8:00had ascended into heaven, the multitude did disperse, and every man did take
- 8:03his wife and his children, and did return to his own home. And
- 8:09it was noised abroad among the people immediately before it was yet dark, that
- 8:13the multitude had seen Jesus, and that he'd ministered unto them, and that
- 8:18he would also show himself on the morrow unto the multitude. Yea, And
- 8:24even all the night it was noised abroad concerning Jesus. And insomuch did they
- 8:30send forth unto the people, that there were many, yea, an exceedingly
- 8:33great number. Did labor exceedingly all that night, that they might be on
- 8:37the morrow in the place where Jesus should show himself unto the multitude. And
- 8:43it came to pass that on the morrow, when the multitude was gathered together,
- 8:46behold Nephi and his brother whom he had raised from the dead, whose
- 8:50name was Timothy, and also his son, whose name was Jonas, And
- 8:54also Mathonae and Mathoniha his brother and Cumen and who men on high, and
- 9:01Jeremiah and Shemnon, and Jonas, and Zedekiah and Isaiah. Now these were
- 9:07the names of the disciples whom Jesus had chosen. And it came to pass
- 9:11that they went forth and stood in the midst of the multitude. And behold,
- 9:15the multitude was so great that they did cause that they should be separated
- 9:18into twelve bodies. And the twelve did teach the multitude. And behold,
- 9:24they did cause that the multitude should kneel down upon the face of the earth,
- 9:28and should pray unto the Father in the name of Jesus. And the
- 9:33disciples did pray unto the Father. Also in the name of Jesus. And
- 9:37it came to pass that they arose and ministered unto the people. And when
- 9:41they administered those same words which Jesus had spoken, nothing varying from the words
- 9:46which Jesus had spoken. Behold, they knelt again and prayed to the Father
- 9:52in the name of Jesus. And they did pray for that which they most
- 9:56desired, and they desired that the Holy Ghost should be given unto them.
- 10:01And when they had thus prayed, they went down unto the water's edge,
- 10:03and the multitude followed them. And it came to pass that Nephi went down
- 10:09into the water and was baptized. And he came up out of the water
- 10:13and began to baptize, and he baptized all those whom Jesus had chosen.
- 10:18And it came to pass when they were all baptized and had come up out
- 10:22of the water, the Holy Ghost did fall upon them, and they were
- 10:26filled with the Holy Ghost and with fire. And behold, they were encircled
- 10:31about as if it were by fire. And it came down from heaven,
- 10:35and the multitude did witness it and did bear record, and angels did come
- 10:41down out of heaven and administer unto them. And it came to pass that
- 10:46while the angels were ministering unto the disciples, Behold, Jesus came and stood
- 10:50in the midst and ministered unto them. And it came to pass that he
- 10:54spake into the multitude and commanded them that they should kneel down again upon the
- 11:01earth, and also that his disciples should kneel down upon the earth. And
- 11:05it came to pass that when they had all knelt down upon the earth,
- 11:07he commanded his disciples that they should pray. And behold, they began to
- 11:13pray, and they did pray unto Jesus, calling him their Lord and their
- 11:18God. And it came to pass that Jesus departed out of the midst of
- 11:22them, and went a little way off from them, and bowed himself to
- 11:26the earth. And he said, Father, I thank THEE that thou hast
- 11:31given the Holy Ghost unto these whom I have chosen. And it is because
- 11:35of their belief in me that I have chosen them out of the world.
- 11:41Father, I pray THEE that thou wilt give the Holy Ghost unto all them
- 11:46that shall believe in their words. Father, thou hast given them the Holy
- 11:50Ghost, because they believe in me, and Thou seest that they believe in
- 11:54me, because Thou hearest them, and they pray unto me, and they
- 11:58pray unto me, because as I am with them, and now Father,
- 12:03I pray unto THEE for them, and also for all those who shall believe
- 12:07on their words, that they may believe in me, that I may be
- 12:11in them, as thou Father art in me, that we may be one.
- 12:16And it came to pass that when Jesus had thus prayed unto the Father,
- 12:20he came unto his disciples. And behold, they did still continue,
- 12:24without ceasing to pray unto him. And they did not multiply many words,
- 12:30for it was given unto them what they should pray. And they were filled
- 12:33with desire. And it came to pass that Jesus blessed them as they did
- 12:37pray unto him, and his countenance did smile upon them, and the light
- 12:41of his countenance did shine upon them. And behold, they were as white
- 12:46as the countenance and also the garments of Jesus. And behold, the whiteness
- 12:50thereof did exceed all the whiteness. Yea, even there could be nothing upon
- 12:54the earth, so white as the whiteness thereof, And ye said unto them,
- 13:01pray on. Nevertheless, they did not cease to pray. And he
- 13:05turned from them again and went a little way off, and bowed himself to
- 13:09the earth, and he prayed again unto the Father, saying, Father,
- 13:13I thank thee that thou hast purified those whom I have chosen because of their
- 13:18faith. And I pray for them, and also for them who shall believe
- 13:22on their words, that they may be purified in me through faith on their
- 13:26words, even as they are purified in me. Father, I pray not
- 13:30for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me out of the
- 13:33world because of their faith, that they may be purified in me, that
- 13:39I may be in them, as thou Father art in me, that we
- 13:43may be one, that I may be glorified in them. And when Jesus
- 13:48had spoken these words, he came again unto his disciples, And behold,
- 13:52they did pray steadfastly, without ceasing unto him. And he did smile upon
- 13:58them again, and behold, old they were white even as Jesus. And
- 14:03it came to pass that he went again a little way off and prayed unto
- 14:05the Father, and tongue cannot speak the words which he prayed. Neither can
- 14:13be written by man the words which he prayed, and the multitude did hear
- 14:16and do bear record, and their hearts were open, and they did understand
- 14:22in their hearts the words which he prayed. Nevertheless, so great and marvelous
- 14:28were the words which he prayed, that they cannot be written, neither can
- 14:33they be uttered by man. And it came to pass that when Jesus had
- 14:37made an end of praying, he came again to the disciples and said,
- 14:41unto them, so great faith have I never seen among all the Jews.
- 14:48Wherefore I could not show unto them so great miracles because of their unbelief.
- 14:54Verily, I say unto you, there are none of them that have seen
- 14:58so great things as ye have seen. Neither have they heard so great things
- 15:03as ye have heard. Third Nephi, Chapter twenty. And it came to
- 15:09pass that he commanded the multitude that they should cease to pray, and also
- 15:13his disciples, and he commanded them that they should not cease to pray in
- 15:16their hearts. And he commanded them that they should arise and stand up upon
- 15:22their feet, and they arose up and stood upon their feet. And it
- 15:26came to pass that he breke bread again and blessed it, and gave it
- 15:30to the disciples to eat. And when they had eaten, he commanded them
- 15:33that they should break bread and give un to the multitude. And when they
- 15:37had given unto the multitude, he also gave them wine to drink, and
- 15:41commanded them that they should give unto the multitude. Now there had been no
- 15:46bread, neither wine brought by the disciples, neither by the multitude. But
- 15:50he truly gave unto them bread to eat, and also wine to drink.
- 15:56And he said unto them, he that eateth this bread, eateth of my
- 16:00body to his soul. And he that drinketh of this wine drinketh of my
- 16:04blood to his soul. And his soul shall never hunger nor thirst, but
- 16:08shall be filled. Now, when the multitude had all eaten and drunk,
- 16:14behold, they were filled with the spirit. And they did cry out with
- 16:18one voice and gave glory to Jesus, whom they both saw and heard.
- 16:22And it came to pass that when they had all given glory unto Jesus,
- 16:26he said unto them Behold, now I finish the commandment which the Father Hath
- 16:30commanded me concerning this people, who are a remnant of the House of Israel.
- 16:37Ye remember that I spake unto you and said that when the words of
- 16:41Isaiah should be fulfilled, behold they are written. Ye have them before you.
- 16:45Therefore search them, And very verily I say unto you that when they
- 16:49shall be fulfilled, then is the fulfilling of the covenant which the Father hath
- 16:53made unto his people, O house of Israel. And then shall the remnants,
- 16:59which shall be scattered abroad upon the face of the earth, be gathered
- 17:02in from the east, and from the west, and from the south and
- 17:06from the north, and they shall be brought to the knowledge of the Lord
- 17:10their God, who hath redeemed them. And the Father Hath commanded me that
- 17:15I should give unto you this land for your inheritance. And I say unto
- 17:18you that if the gentiles do not repent after the blessing which they shall receive,
- 17:23after they have scattered my people, then shall ye who are a remnant
- 17:29of the House of Jacob, go forth among them, and ye shall be
- 17:33in the midst of them, who shall be many and ye shall be among
- 17:36them, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, and as a
- 17:40young lion among the flocks of the sheep, who if he goeth through both
- 17:45treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver. Thy hand shall
- 17:49be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
- 17:55And I will gather my people together as a man gathereth his sheaves into
- 17:59the floor. For I will make my people with whom the Father hath covenanted.
- 18:03Yea, I will make thy horn iron, and I will make thy
- 18:07hoofs brass, And thou shalt beat in peaces many people, and I will
- 18:12consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the
- 18:17whole earth. And behold, I am he who doeth it. And it
- 18:21shall come to pass, saith the Father, that the sword of My justice
- 18:25shall hang over them at that day, and except they repent, it shall
- 18:29fall upon them, Saith the Father, Yea, even upon all the nations
- 18:33of the Gentiles. And it shall come to pass that I will establish my
- 18:37people o house of Israel. And behold this people will I establish in this
- 18:44land unto the fulfilling of the covenant which I made with your father, Jacob.
- 18:48And it shall be a new Jerusalem, and the powers of Heaven shall
- 18:52be in the midst of this people. Yea, even I will be in
- 18:56the midst of you. Behold, I am he of whom Moses spake,
- 19:00saying a prophet. Shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your
- 19:04brethren, like unto me? Him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he
- 19:10shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass that every soul who
- 19:14will not hear that prophet shall be cut off from among the people. Verily
- 19:21I say unto you, yea. And all the prophets from Samuel in those
- 19:25that follow after, as many as have spoken, have testified of me.
- 19:30And behold, ye are the children of the prophets. And year of the
- 19:34House of Israel, and year of the covenant which the Father made with your
- 19:40fathers saying unto Abraham, and in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the
- 19:45earth be blessed, the Father having raised me up unto you first and sent
- 19:51me to bless you in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
- 19:55And this because ye are the children of the Covenant. And after the at
- 20:00Ye were blest, then fulfilleth the Father the covenant which he made with Abraham,
- 20:04saying, in thy seed, shall all the kindreds of the earth be
- 20:08blest unto the pouring out of the Holy Ghost through Me upon the Gentiles,
- 20:14which blessing upon the Gentiles shall make them mighty above all unto the scattering of
- 20:19my people, O house of Israel, and they shall be a scourge unto
- 20:25the people of this land. Nevertheless, when they shall have received the fullness
- 20:29of my gospel, then if they shall harden their hearts against me, I
- 20:33will return their iniquities upon their own heads, saith the Father. And I
- 20:37will remember the covenant which I have made with my people, and I have
- 20:41covenanted with them, that I would gather them together in mine own due time,
- 20:47that I would give unto them again the land of their fathers for their
- 20:51inheritance, which is the land of Jerusalem, which is the promised land unto
- 20:56them forever, saith the Father. And it shall come to pass that the
- 21:00time cometh when the fullness of my gospel shall be preached unto them, and
- 21:06they shall believe in me that I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
- 21:11and shall pray unto the Father in my name. Then shall their watchmen
- 21:15lift up their voice, and with the voice together shall they sing, for
- 21:18they shall see eye to eye. Then will the Father gather them together again
- 21:23and give unto them Jerusalem for the land of their inheritance. Then shall they
- 21:29break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem. For
- 21:33the Father hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem. The Father hath
- 21:38made bare his holy arm. In the eyes of all the nations, and
- 21:42all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of the Father. And
- 21:47the Father and I are one. And then shall be brought to pass that
- 21:52which is written. Awake, awake again, and put on thy strength,
- 21:56O Zion, Put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the Holy City,
- 22:02For henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
- 22:07Shake thyself from the dust, arise, sit down, O Jerusalem.
- 22:12Loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
- 22:18For thus saith the Lord, ye have sold yourselves for naught, and ye
- 22:22shall be redeemed without money verily, verily, I say unto you, that
- 22:29my people shall know my name. Yea, in that day they shall know
- 22:33that I am he that doth speak. And then shall they say, how
- 22:37beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings unto them
- 22:42that publisheth peace, that bringeth good tidings unto them of good, that publisheth
- 22:48salvation, that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth. And then shall a
- 22:55cry, go forth, depart, ye depart ye go ye out from thence
- 23:00touch not that which is unclean, Go ye out of the midst of her
- 23:04be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord. For ye shall not
- 23:08go out with haste, nor go by flight. For the Lord will go
- 23:14before you, and the God of Israel shall be your rearward. Behold,
- 23:19my servant shall deal prudently. He shall be exalted and extolled, and be
- 23:23very high. As many were astonished at thee his visage was so marred more
- 23:30than any man, and his form more than the sons of men. So
- 23:33shall he sprinkle many nations. The kings shall shut their mouths at him,
- 23:37for that which had not been told them. Shall they see, and that
- 23:41which they had not heard shall they consider verily. Verily, I say unto
- 23:47you, all these things shall surely come, even as the Father Hath commanded
- 23:52me. Then shall this covenant which the Father Hath covenanted with his people be
- 23:57fulfilled. And then shall Jerusalem be inhabited again with my people, and it
- 24:03shall be the land of their inheritance. End of thirty five, Chapters eighteen through twenty
