- 6:35[SPEAKER_04]: I got nothing here, no character names.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_04]: One sentence.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_04]: Who would like to go first?
- 6:42[SPEAKER_05]: I think we normally figure out who would go first by guessing how many character names.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we usually, we usually, we usually, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_03]: Coffee makers.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_03]: We actually said, but when we entered the bid, that we were going to do a guess.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, coffee makers, broken.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_03]: Coffee makers.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_05]: Why don't we, let's just guess.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_05]: Let's just guess to determine who's going to go first.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to go with one.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to say one character name.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's, I think there's 10.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody gets their own paragraph.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_03]: I guess it's the wrong one.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, Jordan, you get to go first.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_03]: There were 30 days of night.com backslash staff.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_03]: And everybody's got their own little pile.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_05]: Alright, you ready?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_05]: Yep, tone's gonna be really important to be getting here.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_04]: Oh!
- 7:18[SPEAKER_04]: No!
- 7:20[SPEAKER_04]: Exclamation point.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_04]: You had an epiphany.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't know we were going right into it.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_05]: I said to Exclamation point, but I still get the next word, right?
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, sure.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, punctuation is not a word.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: There's... Night.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: Always.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: And, uh, A is that, I was, I'm sorry, A. Yeah, A. Okay.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_03]: And, uh, it's right behind me, isn't it?
- 7:54[SPEAKER_04]: What did you, what was your word, does?
- 7:56[SPEAKER_04]: After a lot.
- 7:57[UNKNOWN]: 10.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and that's, oh, with an apostrophe.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Of course.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Vamps.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: Period.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh no, there's night always and a lot of vamps.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_04]: I think I think you'll be able to guess that one in a couple of years when we read back there.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there we go.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_04]: The actual retail price, the actual synopsis.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_04]: After an Alaskan town is plunged into darkness for a month, it is attacked by a blood thirsty gang of vampires.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_04]: Sucing to the point, you hit the main points.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_03]: That will get to the later in the episode.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_03]: But what a cool premise for a movie.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_04]: That one feels a spot on.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_04]: Next, I think I'm actually just gonna go based on what I was searching in IMDB over the past couple days.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_04]: We're just gonna go down the line.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_04]: So that would mean the next one is booky nights.
- 8:55[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_03]: I was looking at this because Paul Thomas Anderson's one battle after another.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you don't have it seen booky nights, but I'm sure I can figure it out.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_04]: Any guess is on how many names because that'll be helpful, I think.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, I hope zero names from the movie if I'm being honest been a few years, but I'm going to say zero.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_05]: No, I'm going to say one.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: It is zero.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Doge, you'll go first.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_03]: It feels when you haven't seen the movie and you do go first, it does sort of feel like play in mind sweeper.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I am just going to start clicking.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: When?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Some.

- 10:17[SPEAKER_05]: It's like playing ping pong with so many faces in the wrong direction.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_05]: And it doesn't.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_05]: And they do, and they do.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_04]: They certainly do.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_04]: Things.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: comma predictably comma get a little out of hand period when some guys make an adult
- 11:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's actually harder to find a movie that that's not a synopsis form, right?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you've made these synopsis.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_04]: And I had dealistic porn producer aspires to elevate his craft to an art when he discovers a hot young talent.

- 11:34[SPEAKER_04]: Film should have been.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_04]: Film should have been.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_05]: You're just so pure of heart that there's no way it would even occur to you.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's true.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: That's very true.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that's an office that we've written is sort of like the new hero's journey.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we don't need Joseph Campbell's monolithic structure because we have the new one now.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's always energized make a big decision.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_04]: Things don't go the way they wanted it to and we knew that would we knew that would happen based on the decision.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we knew it has predicted it always happens.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_04]: I am now starting to see there was a
- 12:08[SPEAKER_04]: unbeknownst to me theme.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_04]: We just talked about booky nights.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_04]: The next thing that was in my search was the recent Duane Johnson film, the smashing machine.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_05]: Perfect.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_05]: I know nothing about this.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_04]: So great.

- 12:42[SPEAKER_05]: Do you know what his name is?
- 12:43[SPEAKER_03]: No, I just said I don't say both, I think.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_03]: We'd be in the same boat then.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right, I'm just saying, don't complain about it.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the secret what they want to tell you.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_03]: It's actually better to go first.

- 14:41[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_04]: We don't usually make edits, but I appreciate y'all.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_04]: Change A to Mr. Yeah, that'll work.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_03]: We got the same number.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_03]: As I would imagine, I'm retrograde changing that.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_04]: Mr. Big wrestler, smushes and smashes and crushes and crashes and smacks is enemies in half.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_04]: The A. Yeah.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_04]: That's pretty good.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_04]: I bet it's pretty close to right.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_04]: I was watching that.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_04]: Pretty nice.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_04]: Not in half, but that's pretty close.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_04]: The story of mixed martial arts and UFC champion, Mark Karr.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_04]: That's it.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_04]: Y'all says much more exotic.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, this was lame.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_04]: Boring.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_04]: This was lame.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_04]: But that synopsis.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_04]: I feel synopsed.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I feel pretty dead synopsed.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, synopsis.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_03]: I think we did well.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_03]: I give us a hundred.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_03]: A hundred.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_03]: Probably.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_03]: If I'm grading two minds.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_03]: I want to see what happens when your two minds join together.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_03]: We're playing a new game today.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_03]: It came to me as I was watching 30 days of night because I do this thing when I'm watching a movie where I
- 15:48[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I think this is a 2007 movie, uh, and so I'm thinking, okay, this is the same year that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 came out.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_03]: So there's somebody who saw both of these movies and theaters that year.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: What was their life like or like, this is only two years before avatar.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_03]: Can you imagine like the people at this point had no idea what was coming in two years, um, really interested in like the way that that movies relate to the time that they released.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_03]: So, uh, we're going to play a new game today.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_03]: And I think it's simply just called the middle.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_03]: And what we're going to do is, uh, I've reached out to them.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_03]: I emailed them and they were in fact, I'm trying to listen to that.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_05]: I, I fully, having, having listened to many a podcast starring Mr. Mr. Jim.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_05]: from Jimmy World, I fully believe that he would respond and say, yeah, use it.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, Jim, just just please text me.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_03]: Can we do it?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_03]: Please email me back.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_03]: Jim, please email me back.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_03]: This movie, 30 days of night, is 18 years old, at least 18 years ago in 2007.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, it can vote and it should vote because that's him.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_03]: So, there's two ways we can play this.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, you get to choose, do we want this movie, 30 days of night, to be the meat of the sandwich or the bread of the sandwich?
- 17:10[SPEAKER_03]: And what I mean by that is we're going to choose a movie that's either the exact midpoint from 2007 till now.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: Or we're going to treat this movie as the midpoint and go back to a movie from 1989.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_03]: You guys are going to through a series of questions have to figure out what that movie is.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: So we want to treat 30 days of night as the bread or the meat of the sandwich.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_05]: the meat bread.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_05]: I've become in the last 24 hours since watching this really interested in the trends that are repeating themselves between now and 30 days of night.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_05]: Me just felt so I feel.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_04]: But with the movie it's a sure that's fine.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_03]: It is exceptionally rare meat.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's important to know.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_03]: We do the bread.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_03]: I say bread.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_03]: Do the bread.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_03]: So the exact midpoint then between 30 days of night and today is the year 2016.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_03]: The way this game is going to work is that this is an 18 year gap.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_03]: And so you guys have 18 yes or no questions you're working together.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_03]: You can alternate.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_03]: I would recommend alternating that way.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's fair.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody gets their feelings hurt.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_03]: I have identified a movie from 2016 in film on Wikipedia that lists the top 10 films of 2016.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_03]: That's the exact midpoint between 30 days of night and today.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_03]: You guys get 18 yes or no questions to figure out the movie that I'm looking at right here.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_03]: The number one movie?
- 18:38[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm just picking one of the top 10.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, one of the top 10 movies from 2016.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_03]: This is box office.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_03]: highest grossing films of 2016 Worldwide and one of the top 10 domestic, domestic or worldwide.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_03]: Worldwide.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: That's not one of those questions.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to pitbull style.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: They are yes for no questions.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_03]: Correct.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that counts as a question?
- 19:04[SPEAKER_03]: Nope.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: I have a question that can be answered with the yes or
- 19:17[SPEAKER_04]: Hmm, no, well, have we covered it on this podcast?
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: Good question.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I asked him.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: Did it make over a billion dollars?
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not marble.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: It is not a marve.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: Did a star war come out in 2016?
- 19:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_05]: I was asking Carter that question.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_04]: Adam did.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_03]: You have so many questions.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_03]: You can afford to burn a generic question like that one.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_05]: That's why I didn't ask you though.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_00]: Is it a Disney produced film?
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Star Wars the last Jedi?
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_05]: Oh.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_05]: Is it.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_05]: It would be rogue one that you're wouldn't it?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_04]: Is it Star Wars the Force Awakens?
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_04]: That came out.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: Just a year before.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't it?
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: Is it a Star War?
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Rogue One?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_03]: You got it right.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, that took you nine questions.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: We were in general of the amount of guesses.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_03]: You were in the middle.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_03]: You used exactly 50% of your guess is to give the Rogue One the Zostar Wars story.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_03]: Isn't it interesting to think about?
- 21:01[SPEAKER_03]: Rogue One is like the exact midpoint.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_03]: between 30 days of night and today.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think about time that way often of like, yeah, the distance between, I was listening to something.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I was listening to, I was listening to Southern weather the other day and realized that is the same distance from the release of that record until when I met Jordan as the 2020 COVID pandemic is from today.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, where we talked about proximity to the moon landing, I'm sure we've talked about that before.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_03]: Carter, I know you have a time thing like this, too.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_04]: I do this all the time, but yeah, nice.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_04]: I was as close to the day that I was born was as close to the moon landing as the year 2000, as the day I was born was to the year 2005.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_04]: So the midpoint between
- 21:58[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, 2005, and the moon landing is my birth.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_04]: Is the Council of El Rond?
- 22:05[SPEAKER_04]: The Council of El Rond, it's all crazy.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_04]: Can we make it the middle?
- 22:09[SPEAKER_03]: That's the middle.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_03]: We're just really good at it.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you and do the other one too.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_03]: Let me put my list back up.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I'll call.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: Late call.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_03]: Hello.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: We're looking at 1989.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_04]: Telling Jordan secrets in Vampire.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: 20 years after research.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_03]: You guys want to research your guest count?
- 22:35[SPEAKER_03]: Ricky, you see if you can get both with only 18 years.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_03]: Let's just try.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yes or no questions?
- 22:42[SPEAKER_03]: Identify the movie that I'm thinking of.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_03]: Is there a Marvel is an MC?
- 22:47[SPEAKER_04]: I think.
- 22:48[UNKNOWN]: 1989.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_04]: Have we done it for the podcast?
- 22:53[SPEAKER_04]: Have we reviewed it?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_04]: Ooh, no.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, then.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_03]: Then.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_03]: What is this our 500 episode?
- 23:02[SPEAKER_03]: I've only seen 500 movies.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_03]: Is it action?
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 23:18[SPEAKER_03]: So far, we have identified that this movie has not been covered in the podcast and it is action.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_05]: But it was like, oh, you're like laughing in the eyes of stupid question.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's like it's not one of the biggest genres in the world.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like people in 1989 were an absolutely salivating at the thought of action on their movie screens.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: Is it based on a real story?
- 23:45[SPEAKER_05]: Hmm, avatar bait, no, what is it?
- 23:49[SPEAKER_05]: Not avatar is avatar based on real.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_05]: What is it in Parks and Rec?
- 23:52[SPEAKER_05]: Is Flintstones, is that what it is?
- 23:55[SPEAKER_05]: No, what is it?
- 23:56[SPEAKER_05]: I don't remember what it is.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's not based on real.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: Not based on real.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's nothing that came true.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_03]: Is there a love in it?
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: Dang.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_03]: Ooh.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_03]: Romantic left.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll give you all that to that kind of one question.
- 24:22[UNKNOWN]: 1989.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan, this is a question for Jordan, not for Dosh.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_04]: So don't you dare answer it.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_04]: But if you do, it's not my fault.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't count.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_04]: At what point do we start just taking a shot at a really big actor or actress of that time?
- 24:40[SPEAKER_05]: Just, I know you want to say Arnie's or just go.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we, that we haven't done.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we've done most for sure.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm actually going to say, no, okay.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, mm-hmm.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, wow.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_05]: Wow.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_05]: Wow.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_05]: He tapped into something, tapped into something.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he is.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_04]: I felt it dude.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_04]: I felt it.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is your brain.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_04]: I feel a little bit grumpy.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_04]: So if you can get him in the grump, you can find the room.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_05]: I've never seen any of that kind of laws.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_05]: I'll just have to guess.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_05]: But is it broke one?
- 25:38[SPEAKER_05]: We're all going to Star Wars story.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, well, you didn't air force one.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_05]: No, there's no love in Air Force one.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_05]: There's no wrong answer.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_05]: Air Force one.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_03]: Not that I don't think he loves America.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm sure he does.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think he would kiss America if it had a mouth?
- 25:57[SPEAKER_03]: America.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that we haven't done all the Indiana Jones and all the Indies.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like it's probably an indie, which one of them, which one of them came out?
- 26:08[SPEAKER_05]: Not Raiders.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_05]: And I didn't know, certainly, wait a second.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_04]: This might be, no, was the last crusade in the late 80s?
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: What's not, is this an Indiana Jones flick?
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, there you go.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: Temple of Doom is early.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's Temple of Doom.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_04]: But really?
- 26:33[SPEAKER_04]: I would have assumed.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to try to ask her, say it that.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_04]: Is it Indian and John's in the last crusade?
- 26:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, you got the meat and the bread with fewer than 18 guesses.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_03]: Well, called the first time playing in the middle.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_03]: You guys went full sand though.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_05]: The face was not one that I've seen before.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_03]: That was a new, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a fresh, that was a
- 27:22[SPEAKER_04]: That is weird.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_04]: That is weird.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_04]: I love this kind of thing.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you for this game.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_04]: Very good.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_04]: Very good.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_04]: Just look how it gets us right.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_04]: Do it.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_04]: Do it.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_04]: What a transition.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_05]: To make sure that we get to grow just as old as these movies do.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_05]: I would like to ensure that we put dollars in our pockets for food in our mouth, particularly raw ground to beef.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_05]: Let's head to Shannon.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yum.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_04]: Wait.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome to, how can I talk that way?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think if I tried that, my throat would get so dry that I would start talking, never stop.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome to Shout Nads.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_04]: Which does, have you thought about how?
- 28:12[SPEAKER_04]: We're as close to the beginning of this podcast.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_04]: Right now, as we are to the end of this podcast episode.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_03]: Wow, that's really something when you step back and frame it that way right here in the middle I can understand why a lot of people skip and just listen to this part the middle welcome.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, listen Welcome to the meet here.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_04]: We are.

- 31:13[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of thoughts, actually.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_04]: I have a lot of thoughts, yeah.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_04]: I think as a whole, we took, I'll say bad ass, pretty cool concept here.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_04]: And handle it a little bit more like a cover band.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_04]: Full agreed.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, then, great way of putting it.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_04]: Something legitimate.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_04]: Now there were moments.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_04]: 10 of 10 idea.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_04]: So 30 days of night as a whole just looking at the poster just seeing some various screenshots reading about it.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_04]: I thought this is going to be in that arena that sometimes is my favorite movie experience, which is.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_04]: Big budget bad movie fast and the furious does this so well bits of ups and downs 30 days of night we'll I want to try and talk a little bit as we get through this movie my trajectory here.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_04]: How I felt about it because there's this fine line for me of a good bad movie.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_04]: That is like this is just exhausting and bad.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I would say Morbius was just
- 32:24[SPEAKER_04]: Just bad, right?
- 32:25[SPEAKER_04]: Are there really moments that we get to laugh about in that?
- 32:28[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it's more than time.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_04]: Did he say that?
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_04]: I can't remember where he morphed.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_04]: That would've really stood out to me.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_00]: It was right.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_04]: But anyways, very different kind of empire in this.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_05]: I think that I feel very similarly.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_05]: The idea is 10 out of 10 and I spent a long time after we finished it telling Cali about how I think it could have been better.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_05]: Um, I think my ultimate sort of spot that I've landed on this movie is that it takes all of the best and worst parts of 2007 and movies that came out in 2007.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_05]: It is both such.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_05]: Such a 2007 movie.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_05]: I'll tell you right now, I, my, my super dump.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_05]: We don't even do these really anymore, but if, if I was going to identify one, it would be the
- 33:22[SPEAKER_05]: Um, I spent most of this moving behind.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_05]: I bet what's happening is cool.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_05]: I can't tell, but I bet it's cool.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_05]: Um, yeah.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, I think that, you know, this sparked a really interesting conversation with Kelly and I about like, well, I say conversation.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_05]: It was mostly her humoring me while I talked about it for a long time, but,
- 33:39[SPEAKER_05]: It was sort of the idea of like, do you practice the podcast?
- 33:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because I can't hear it all the time.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to put up a sharp graph.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm going to grab the mic.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_03]: And then I'm going to make this really loud squeaky sound.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_05]: Do you mind if I sit down for this part?
- 33:54[SPEAKER_05]: It feels like this is the Arab we're back in again, in pop culture.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_05]: Ooh.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_05]: If this movie was released today,
- 34:08[SPEAKER_05]: would be that it would be starring the cast of the summer I turned pretty and instead of Josh Hartnett, it would be like Noah Centaneo as the whatever the talker, Frankenstein, like it would just be a bunch of hot young people, yeah, I feel like that's the main difference here is that it would just be a bunch of hot young people and they would be like Danny Houston, you, he's an old, we have to only put hot young people in it.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_05]: Um, and it would come out straight to Amazon Prime and it would be shot on the volume.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_05]: It would be worse.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, but it.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_05]: It's a similar ethos of movie making.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_05]: It feels like today.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of things about the late 2000s like leading up to 2010 are back right now.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_05]: But the movie making ethos feels very similar where it was like 2007 feels like a dark period in quality movies.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_05]: There's some that come out for sure.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_05]: But it feels like a lot of them were like, how do we make sure that people sit down and we make money off of this, which we're just back to in streaming form now.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_05]: And that's what it really feels like.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_05]: is the rhyme.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_05]: If we want to talk about how time works, it feels like where we're back to is the trend that this has been, that what this movie represents is back today.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_05]: So it felt a little odd watching it and being like, yeah, this, this premise, like a lot of things that come out now, this premise is amazing.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_05]: I mean unbelievable.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_05]: And it feels kind of sad to me that it was wasted on what is essentially a zombie movie with a couple of smart zombies.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of the bummer here.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_03]: He's on me.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_03]: It is the walking dead like it pretty much is the walking dead of like here's a sheriff and he's going to lead this little rag tech group of folks.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's it was originally conceived as a movie like this and then nobody would pick it up to create it.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: And so it was turned into a comics here.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_04]: How that.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I feel like it probably works better as a comic series and it's a single movie because there's entirely too many characters.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care about most of these people.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_03]: There's way too many of them.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, if they had just sort of held on a little bit longer and put this out on AMC in like 2012 or 13 could have gotten six season.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_03]: That's the thing.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_03]: What have been great.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_03]: If they'd still be making it and we'd be tired of it.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel like a two hour movie is the wrong medium to tell this particular story to tell this version of this story.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_05]: This great.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_05]: A super tight 90 minute action.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_04]: That's it.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's not this this movie just felt like a brain storm like it felt like we had a bunch of the idea people in a room Took one shot at it and put it to film.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_04]: It was like why don't we clean it up like let's come cut the fat Let's like uh, let's take out the romance even though that made it a really no funny baby movie out of here Yes, it made it a funny bad like there were moments that made me laugh out loud when it was just like
- 37:00[SPEAKER_04]: She was just really horny for leadership.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_04]: Like any time he was like, I'm gonna go do this.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_04]: We would, we would do the bad.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_05]: She was like, oh, he's taking charge.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he's got a place.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_04]: He's got a place set.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_04]: She said there were some vampires everywhere.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_04]: And she was the thirstiest for sure.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_05]: right absolutely when when he was like they give you guys guns now in the bar about four seconds before he said that I was like why does she have a good she's part of the fight she's a fire fighter and then he asked the same question I was like at least
- 37:35[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, you know, at least I'm encouraging you, but it's a little silly.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the the 2007 vibe of like every line has to be badass.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, there's no.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there's dude.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_03]: There's it's like even there's nothing like
- 37:50[SPEAKER_03]: So what I'm not advocating for is like a really 20, 25, like the vampires write behind me, isn't he?
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_03]: But there's like no, there is no pressure release.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_03]: There's no moment of levity at all in this whole movie.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_03]: And everything is just like moody, broody, bad ass.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_03]: But that line in particular of him being like, they let you carry one of those things.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_03]: And she's like,
- 38:14[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't ask.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_03]: There's just every line is auditioning to be the cool tagline for this movie.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_05]: I would like to suggest something that I want us to do for a little bit.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_05]: Let's spend a couple minutes.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_05]: We're not like at the end of the discussion or anything, but I want to take a couple minutes and just can we fire off some like, I hated this.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_05]: I loved this.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_05]: I hated this.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_05]: I loved this.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_05]: I think it would be helpful for me because I just, it's not because of things.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_04]: It's tough.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_04]: There's a little bit of both.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_04]: Mark Boone.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_04]: We were trying to make that sound really cool too.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_04]: This was the guy that drove the chainsaw.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_05]: At one point.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_05]: The guy that should have been the main character?
- 38:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_04]: Got it.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_04]: He was great.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_03]: But it was like this.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_03]: Wait, that's the guy he was in Batman, right?
- 38:58[SPEAKER_03]: If that may begin.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_03]: The layers here.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_04]: Like, there were so many moments that were right in the middle.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks for this, this middle game that you give a to his doge.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_04]: But like the, it's just James eating the world.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_04]: It's that perfect bad that it's good kind of moment.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_04]: But when he's like, yeah, it's, wait, no, it's my turn.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_04]: Because there's always like, he's going to bore me here.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to bore me around here.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_04]: Awesome.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, what do you mean it's your turn?
- 39:22[SPEAKER_04]: Like, we have, we need drives that thing.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_04]: We just know that you're lonely and you like to receive citations to make it feel like you can, you, you have a heartbeat.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_05]: that line betrayed the ethos of this movie to me so early on.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_05]: That the director, the writer, whoever was like, this is a good line to put in.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_05]: That we make no feel like he's part of the community.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_05]: We remind him he's part of our community by getting like, he's like, how about somebody drives to his house, brings him some groceries, asks.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_05]: What are we talking about?
- 39:55[SPEAKER_05]: Such a cop mentality to be like the best way to remind them these part of society is to give you penalized him.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's so stupid.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_05]: But in driving whatever that vehicle was, chainsaw car.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_03]: That was great.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_05]: That's a very good, very cool.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_03]: Which would have done the same way in that crash.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_03]: Sam Ramey produced this.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_03]: And he was approached to direct past on it.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_03]: That's how to produce.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_03]: But there are moments like chainsaw car.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_03]: And like, like, this is named Monubinit.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_03]: The gentleman who loses his arm in the muffin man machine.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, of course.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_03]: That whole sequence of him freaking out with only one arm and then getting his headshot.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, cool.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_05]: Sam Ramey.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_05]: Brutal.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Sam Ramey.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_05]: Very cool.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_05]: The, the, I laughed out loud.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_05]: when was it what did she say most Boone Boe when Boe after driving the chainsaw cars like you're not going to eat me and then tries to blow himself up in the nails and so it is so far hey, he is sitting by a box of dynamite, but it just lights his feet on fire and flips of rag dolls and shoots him out of window and then he still gets eight, which is hilarious.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_05]: I think for my money,
- 41:16[SPEAKER_05]: Grandma's pot grow, go grab her son-lamp.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, 10 out of 10, man, brilliant.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_05]: Great idea, so that's so cool too.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_04]: I know.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_05]: That should have been their plan.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_05]: Like, oh, this worked.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_05]: Let's figure out a way to do this.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_03]: Let's hook it up to the front of chainsaw, car, yeah.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_04]: And drive around town, shoot our bean, they grab, which, like, here's how you know, it is not quite.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_04]: vampire lore because vamps have a hard time with fire is that right they should they should so it's like oh God they gotta do the pipelines they're just spilling oil so the spilling oil into the streets though does feel like a corn music video like that's pretty dope.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's fair
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: And we're just gonna, we're about to just, what look, we're just, we'll light it up.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but it was just like, that was their solution.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_04]: So it's like, I guess we got all the food we need.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_04]: If there's more food, who cares?
- 42:18[SPEAKER_04]: Rost it.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_04]: You know, this is our, our city now.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_04]: Like, what were they gonna do after this town?
- 42:26[SPEAKER_05]: Well, apparently there's a bunch of presumed lore that I assume people are getting from the comics.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, um, they just can't leave these vampires are a secret society that move from town to town and do things like this and they were under strict orders to not turn anybody in to vampires, but to only feed and they chose this town because it was going to be dark for 30 days, even though it feels like they probably got their fill on day one because we spent 45 minutes of this movie on day one.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_05]: And everybody feels like, yeah, pretty much everybody's dead at that point.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_05]: And so like apparently there's a bunch of lore and these vampires are highly complex and intelligent.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_05]: And like, I think it makes it all that from two.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_03]: It makes it better at that point.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's if that's their agreement.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_03]: then that should be the reason why all the planes leave because planes can still fly at night.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_03]: I want to make that abundantly clear.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_05]: I have planes taken by at night after dark plenty of time.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_03]: They don't need the sunshine to know where they're going.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_03]: Plains can fly at night, but if it's like some sort of agreement with
- 43:26[SPEAKER_03]: the leader of this town of like, yeah, we're going to strand our people here.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's tradition to to dock the population number and every every time this happens, you guys get to come and have free reign.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_03]: That's our agreement in exchange for something else.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_03]: So this was which is the kind of cabin in the woods.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_05]: The fix to me is the familiar should have been somebody that had implanted himself in the town for a little bit and was in a position of leadership.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_05]: to where, because I don't think, if you do this, this happens once a year.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_05]: If the agreement is that they come once a year, nobody's going to live in this town.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_05]: But I think if they had had the familiar and plant himself in leadership in the town and agreed to like sabotage the airports, so nobody can leave as part of what he was doing, then all of a sudden, now they're all stranded.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I have a car to be the familiar.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_04]: That's an essential lease.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_04]: Carter was the one who ran that big
- 44:17[SPEAKER_04]: spot that it's a meet grinding or whatever.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_05]: Sure.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_05]: I went up.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_05]: I think that that would be very interesting.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_05]: I think that again, I really feel like making both the main character and having him do the sac because like turns out into vampire to fight vampire.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_05]: Very cool.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_05]: Very good idea.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_05]: Extremely cool.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_05]: Have both do that.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_05]: And at the end have the whole town come sit around him and have
- 44:44[SPEAKER_05]: He showed that he cares about us, he's part of us, and now it's too late.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_05]: That's more interesting to me than like, but like this was 2007, everything had to be a romance story a little.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it had to.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know why.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know why.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_04]: I want to talk about Ben Foster who this more than anything made me sad.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_04]: It was like so close, but it almost felt like he was trying to recommend like Robinhood vibes like be the the best character of a movie that's kind of already ridiculous.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_04]: But he over.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_04]: He actually over did it.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_04]: Like I think Ben Foster was trying too hard and I normally like him a lot.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_04]: In even characters like this, he was hell or high water, he's been in three ten to you know, he's usually like a henchman that is just as speakable and not the main villain, but someone you hope dies.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_04]: a satisfying death.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_05]: I think the makeup and costume department did him no favors because he looked like he would he showed up.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_05]: I was like, oh, this guy is already a monster.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_04]: The foam coming out of his mouth when he talks.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_03]: That was his choice.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_04]: That was his choice.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I think there's, and again, if it had been a many series, there's ample time for the slow burn of like, who in who's in charge of this town,
- 46:01[SPEAKER_03]: That's invited these folks in.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we can pull that from vampire lore.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_03]: We've invited them to this town because we've stranded all these folks here.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_03]: I just think they're it like it clearly maybe not clearly.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_03]: It felt like it really wanted to be a zombie movie.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_03]: And we didn't understand.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_05]: This was a zombie movie with two vampires that communicated with each other.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_05]: That's all this was and I feel like that's a huge miss.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_04]: I had names for the vampires because they weren't given them, but there were two henchmen in particular.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_04]: One of them I called.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_03]: That's a lot of the way you see the world.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_04]: That's called Sladrian's Brodie.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_04]: Who was just kind of like this kid.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_04]: And then there was Dave Blood Tista who was called.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_03]: I called him Blood Beauty Pirate.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_04]: That dude was.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_04]: And it's just so.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_04]: like the way they we also tried to when I talk about it being a brainstorm right we tried to hold on to not reveal it we should have waited longer before we revealed what they look like not that it's some satisfying pay off but early on when they're just taking people that's that's scary apart that's the better part yeah sure just disappeared disappearing hey what if we really never saw
- 47:21[SPEAKER_04]: Like, how far can we go without actually seeing?
- 47:23[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, just hold off the band.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_05]: I think would be good.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_05]: Because the moment that they walk out and it's just like dudes with bad teeth and regular clothes, they're not scary anymore.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_03]: You know what is really interesting is watching this movie months after seeing sinners twice.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_03]: Because you're trying to do like a lot of the same things that sinners does.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_03]: uh... that really like classic kind of like vampire hostage like vampires have trapped us in this environment sort of the stand on earth or salam's lot you know kind of vibes uh... and i just think centers doesn't a lot better than of course of course it does yeah which is that it feels redundant but it's interesting that they feel like sort of the same i guess same shape of a movie yeah we had such a great start because the
- 48:15[SPEAKER_04]: the phones being burned was really cool.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that was the dogs I said, is that was it was like, okay, we're gradually taking away our get out.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, someone messes up somebody's helicopter, you know, but then it just got, I think the romance was the ranch and all of it.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_04]: I think the search rights so hard.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_04]: It was one of the worst aspects.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_04]: It, it'd be get so many other things in my mind of like why
- 48:45[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not sure that we have proof any of these characters exists from the nipples down.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_03]: That's a lot, a lot of close ups, a lot of jackets.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_05]: Almost exclusively, we are getting shoulders.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_05]: Shoulders neck and head is like pretty much all we thought or see of anybody.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, even in the action shots, which is cool.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_04]: There was a great action shot.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_04]: There reminded me of one of our favorite things about the most recent John Wick, which was that above.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_04]: Follow.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_04]: Like we saw people was going basically the slaughter of the town, which was cool.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_03]: Which the wild thing is now, that is such an easy shot to get.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_03]: I could go outside and get that shot with my drone.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_03]: But in 2007, we did not have drones.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_03]: So we had the helicopter.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_03]: Commission, a helicopter and sit in the helicopter and hold our heavy camera while this is happening.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_04]: Um, one of my favorite things was the moment that that Carter character, it's like, there's only six of us left.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_04]: Like they hadn't even been counting down how many people were left.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_04]: But it was to set up the line and he was like, it's about to be five.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_04]: And he's like, oh my god, oh, so dude.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_04]: But he's like, hey man, and our deep deep like inoculation of the theme of like, family was so.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and too much Josh lost his mind dude.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_04]: I wish we could, we would be in the same room.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_04]: Cause the next time I see one of y'all, I want to do what he does to the guy.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_04]: when he sees him for the first time in a long time after he's killed his family.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_04]: The way they're just kind of like grappling.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_04]: And like four arm to the side of your head, like I love you, but hate you kind of thing.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_04]: I think what happened is people were so high on the moment of this movie when they were making it that they watched those two guys do that and people were just weeping.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_04]: They're like, no, we gotta get this.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_04]: Just one shot, we gotta keep it.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_04]: That was so good.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_04]: That was so good.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_03]: I feel that is very, that's something I do wonder.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_03]: Like the movie is so self-serious
- 50:57[SPEAKER_03]: I think the movie, at least, believes itself to be quite profound.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think people are crying at the, at the, at the, like, you think the things it's at the end?
- 51:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, they caught enough kids in puberty.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_04]: But that, that, that, that at the end with the ash, and he's just dying in her arms is, like, twilight wishes.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_05]: He makes a sound when he's turning into ash.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_05]: And I, Ray, I giggled, I giggled, I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_02]: I giggled, I've become an act.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_02]: The sun is burning all my skin off.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_02]: Deborah, yeah, I'm turning into, I'm turning into, I'm turning into dust, Deborah, I'm a charcoal brickette.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_05]: I feel similarly the way that you feel about the love story, which I also agree with.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_05]: I feel about the brother and the gr- it's just like, we don't need all those guys.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_05]: It just feels extra, it feels- and I hate the sunlamp, the sunlamp for pot should have been bow.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_05]: For sure.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_05]: For sure.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_05]: Or the lady that almost did a threesome.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_05]: Oh yeah, either one of them.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_05]: But correct me if I'm wrong here, I'm pretty sure we only got like four day updates.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_05]: Like I think it was like after the first night, which lasted forever, it was like now it's day seven.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_05]: And then it was like now it's day 20, 20 set, 27 or 28, yeah.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_05]: And then it was like, and now the sun comes up tomorrow.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_05]: So it's not really 30 days of night so much as it is.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_05]: a few days of fighting and then a bunch of sitting in an attic.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_05]: I assume pooping in a corner, but I don't know.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, definitely.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: You think they lower it down to the street in the bucket?
- 52:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, man.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_03]: The vampires are just like, I don't know there.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's still a bucket of shit over here.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's fresh every morning.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_03]: I guess they come here to do it.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_05]: How do they sneak around with me?
- 52:59[SPEAKER_05]: I guess we should rate it.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_05]: Let's rate it.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_05]: Using the scientific sentiment scale, which is perfect.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_05]: And as follows, the best thing we can ever say about a movie is on it.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_05]: Don't mind it.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_03]: Buy that poster.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_05]: The next best thing is buy it.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_05]: That's followed by rent it.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_05]: And then stream it after that is forget it.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_05]: And last but sweet least, the worst thing we could ever say about it.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_05]: God, have forsaken us in the theme of a middle here.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna say stream I was delighted.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, too Hopefully Paramount's not listening use my dear friend Jordan's Paramount account To stream this movie.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_05]: You both use my Paramount account to watch this.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_04]: I haven't rated it yet.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_04]: You can't ask me so
- 53:42[SPEAKER_04]: That was great to just be about was watching it on the plane and there were moments that I was like kind of covering the because it was a night flight And so I didn't want to just blast get two hearings to who knows who's sitting behind me But I think knowing that I didn't have to pay anything for this was just like man.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_04]: This is how it's supposed to be Sure this was great and I would I would watch it.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_04]: I would watch it certainly with someone who hasn't seen it before
- 54:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that is the kind of down for the vibe of a pretty bad movie.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_04]: But I stream it.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_03]: Good idea.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to stream it as well.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I hope Paramount is not listening.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_03]: I was very happy that I could use Jordan's Paramount plus account, and I'll have to pay for this.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_03]: Because it does sort of feel like the most expensive sci-fi channel original movie you're ever going to watch.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_03]: It's a ton of fun.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_03]: It's a ton of fun.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, it's a fair amount of fun.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think that's more fair.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_05]: I'm forgetting it for a few reasons.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_05]: I did not, I don't think I enjoyed it quite as much as y'all did.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_05]: It didn't, there were a couple moments that I was like, oh, it's so bad.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_05]: It's good.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_05]: But mostly I was pretty bored, yeah.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_05]: And I can't think of anybody I dislike speaking to enough that I would rather watch this than just sit and talk.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_03]: I tell you what it's perfect for.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_03]: What environment it's perfect for is put it on in the background of your Halloween party.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_03]: There's so many things like these and then be like, everybody hang on watch.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_03]: He's about to punch through the back of Danny.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_03]: He's we didn't talk about that.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_03]: That part was pretty.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_05]: That's why we didn't talk about that.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_05]: That part was cool.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_05]: But also, I think I would forget it also so that hopefully it would have a chance to be made well because I feel like again the sort of not I'm not even willing to say the bones are good.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_05]: I just think the general idea the start point is good and everything should change after that.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_03]: But what streamer would you be excited to find out they have picked this up.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to do a limited series of this great question.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_05]: There are only two streamers that I think are even good anymore for original content.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_05]: That's not reality and that is HBO and Apple.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_05]: So pretty much if it's not HBO or Apple, I would say it's probably going to be bad.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_05]: That's fair.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_05]: And that goes by the way, that goes for pretty much anything.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_05]: If any, if you could, you could be like a stormy series is being made.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_05]: And I'd be like, oh, who's doing it?
- 56:00[SPEAKER_05]: And you could be like Amazon.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_05]: I'd be like, oh, it's going to be bad.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, man, but on the other hand, you could be like a poopy due to a series as being made in Apple TV picked it up.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to be like, well, I guess I might just do it now.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_03]: I got to check it off starring, starring James Marston as poopy due to there.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_05]: Really going to be like, do you make a due due series?
- 56:18[SPEAKER_05]: two seasons, at least Tony Colette as Officer D.D.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_05]: Back at Duke, interesting.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_05]: Side note, if y'all haven't watched the trailer yet for pleurabus on Apple TV.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_05]: The news that's good.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_05]: Still again, starring our very own Kim Wexler, what's your name again?
- 56:35[SPEAKER_05]: Ray C Horn.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_05]: Ray C Horn, who I love, please go check that out because that trailer looks pretty interesting.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_05]: pretty interesting.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_05]: Very different, totally from breaking bad and better call saw.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm really excited to let Vince sort of like a true crime, like a crime drama set in New Mexico.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_03]: Did you get crime drama from it?
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't get it.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: I was going to say that I did get New Mexico for sure.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_05]: Well, did you see why he did it?
- 57:01[SPEAKER_05]: Why he set the show in New Mexico?
- 57:03[SPEAKER_05]: No, a ton of the crew from Breaking Bad and Better Calls all moved to Albuquerque to make the shows.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_05]: And he was like, I want to work with the same group.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't want them to have to relocate their families.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_05]: So let's just do it here.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_05]: Cool.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_05]: Cool.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_05]: Vince Gilligan.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not going to say he's the last true artist in television, but he's certainly on the Rushmore.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_05]: We'll say that.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's in a league of his own.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think there's anybody else in which he who's who's got no misses, you know?
- 57:36[SPEAKER_05]: Benstilly, Benstilly is so far one for one.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll see.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_05]: Sure, how that goes.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, so check that up trailer.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_05]: I'm really excited about that.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_05]: It's been a minute since a new scripted television show from the jump has gotten me excited.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_05]: And this one is one that I'm ready to tune in for.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_05]: So check that out.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_05]: To end.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_05]: Well next week, we're going to do lost boys.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_05]: I'm very excited about the lost boys.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_05]: it's going to be pretty, pretty vibey, I think, to end today's episode.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_05]: Let's say which last boy we would be.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_05]: I'm Jordan, and I'm the, I'm the raccoon.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_03]: And I know all of them, too.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just, and I know all the last boys.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm probably, I think kind of like the bad boy
- 58:31[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_05]: We're not talking about the same thing.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm talking about the one from Peter Pan.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_03]: Who like Cusses?
- 58:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I remember him.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they're all like playing pretend and he has cards.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, he's like shuffling cards and he cusses.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think his name is like, bitch, bigsby.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_03]: Bits, bigsby?
- 58:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think so, yeah.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_03]: And Peter Pan's like, let's fly and play pretend.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_03]: And bitch, bigsby's like damn.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_04]: I'm chrono, I think it'd be to grab it.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_04]: Wavit!
- 59:02[SPEAKER_04]: No, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it
