- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Good morning friends and enemies in today's video.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be going through our weekly recap of all the preseason games that happened over the weekend We'll be doing this every single Monday.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'll make sure you subscribe if you want to hear as you have about it I'll be bringing Michael O'Hara back on the channel again for this since you guys welcomed him with open arms
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: Mikey, baby, some are saying we give you guys a quick update of all the players that have been injured recently.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: Our takes on what it means for the players around them and how long we suspect them to be out for and if it's going to pour over into the regular season.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: Very important this time of the year, especially if you are drafting right now that you'll be Hubbard's other world with the burdens guys like that.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: We talk through the most recent injuries.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: Then we talk through our biggest takeaways from the preseason games.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: What's actionable?
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: What's not actionable?
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: What matters?
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: Our biggest ranking changes from
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: and more.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: Let's... All right, Michael, welcome back in, you know, I won't tell the people out there, but I made Michael not where I had this time.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: We were getting too many of the the father son allegations, the twin allegations out there, so we said we had to let the the hair rock for this episode, but you received a lot of positive feedback, so we're bringing you on again, Michael.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I think in order to talk about the preseason here, I'm gonna start out with a quick list of teams that did not play any of their offensive starters.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: So we likely won't spend a lot of time on any of these teams.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: So if anyone gets upset that their team wasn't talked about, this is why, these are the teams in my notes that did not have any offensive starters play in their first preseason game.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: We had Detroit, New England, Indy, the Chargers Houston, San Fran,
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Tampa Bay, Chicago, the Rams, Kansas City, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Philly, Baltimore, Dallas, and Seattle.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I believe it was a clean slice of just half the league to play their starters, and I'm sure next week we'll get a little bit of the same kind of nice because as we're covering the preseason, it's like cool.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to actually sit and watch 32 teams play within like a 24 hour period, but there's been enough meat on the bone for us to chew on.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna start with the injuries here.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: And that is Chuba Hubbard up top.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: He is someone that's kind of been in this backfieldish committee in theory with Jonathan Brooks right now he's dealing with a hamstring training that he suffered at training camp and he is listed as week to week.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: So you have the combination of like all the hype of Jonathan Brooks throughout the entirety of the summer and you know this kind of unknown of what he's going to be he's finally back healthy like getting this reps at training camp.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: and it coincides with a perfectly timed injury to Chuba Hubbard.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: And now it's like, okay, Jonathan Brooks is getting the run with the ones as well as their first preseason game.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, you asked me right before and I said, let's hold up until we actually start talking about Chuba Hubbard here.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: How high does Jonathan Brooks move?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: One.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: Are you concerned about the Chuba Hubbard injury?
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like he's weak to weak right now.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: We still have about a month until kickoff.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: And two, does it move Jonathan Brooks up because he's getting more training campsnaps or are there other ulterior motives here that your moving Brooks on one way or another?
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: So the injury to Brooks, it's a nothing burger for me because I wasn't drafting him anyways.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not the kind of running back that I like to target in my draft, right?
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: You mean, yeah, true, but excuse me, excuse me.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: True, but I wasn't drafting him to begin with and an injury to him.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: It just makes it easier for me to draft Brooks.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna chase them off the draft board.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a line.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: I have them in the 70s right now about 77 overall in my ranks.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm willing to push Brooks pretty high up the board.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: The one thing that is particularly intriguing for me in this spot and Ryan Heath had a good tweet about it earlier this off season.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: And it's something that if you've been paying attention over the last couple of years, since Dave Canales has arrived in Carolina,
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: Dave Ganalys, he just gives the ball to whoever is playing better at running back.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: In 2024, we saw Chuba completely ice-miles Sanders.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Last year, it was the Rico Dowdall show after he broke out following Chuba's injury.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Chuba does kind of start working back in down the stretch, but players who are good are rewarded.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: And we see that time in time out.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: The thing that makes me excited about Brooks is
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: If Tuba does miss time in the regular season, Brooks has a really nice opportunity to show that he's the real deal.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: The Panthers get the Bears in week one.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: And last year, they had a horrific run defense.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Bottom 10 in Yards per game, Yards per carry, Yards before contact per attempt.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: So this is a primo matchup.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, the Bears defense, they had some injuries last year.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: They make some
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: But this is an opportunity for Brooks to put his talents on display and really seize the backfield right from the get go and from a talent perspective Brooks is a complete mystery box I liked the profile coming out of college.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's a dynamic playmaker in space.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: He can catch the ball out of the backfield and do something in the receiving game.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot to like there.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: Coming off to ACL tears, we never know we're gonna get, but it's setting up to where he's gonna have the opportunity to potentially seize at least the one A role in this backfield right away, which to me is particularly exciting because we know how run heavy this often says, perhaps they improve as a whole.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think you can get Brooks into like the early six round or anything like that, the middle of the sixth even, but I am excited to have him on my team this year.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'll definitely end up being well ahead of where he settles in
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: terms of ZADP.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I actually, ironically, I think we're going to end up on the different different sides of the argument here, because I had been a Brooks guy like all summer long, you know, the value is crazy for a very, very long time.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: Started the summer.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a 12 brown pick moved up to 11th, 10th, 9th, whatever.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: And my thought process had always been like, it felt like to me, regardless of the tube injury, eighth round was probably like the right price for him.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: Regardless of what was happening within the backfield, I think anything above that feels like it's getting a little bit too risky for me.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: I do love the upside.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really moving him up because I don't really think the Chuba injury is impactful enough to the point where like Chuba's a guy that's been in the system for a very long time.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: So him missing reps or him missing camp to me is not really that big of a deal because I do think he comes right back and he forces this one A1B situation.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's a little bit in favor of Jonathan Brooks and we saw him like they're clearly going to use them as a workhorse if she was out because they had their first, you know, they're preseasoning game.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: He took almost all the snaps with Bryce Young under center.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: We had Trevor E. T. N. kind of come in and take a couple like third and obvious passing situation down there.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think the, the, the more he floats up the less I'm inclined to take him, which is just, you know, that's, that's obvious, but it's almost like the opposite of the Luther burden situation that we talked about last week.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: Man, I want to get some burden, but he's a little bit too pricey for me.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: This injury now allows me to get him at a fair price.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're now, it's like, I would've had an insane amount of Jonathan Brooks.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now I think he's going to get a little bit too high, where I'm not overly confident that he's going to outright take it from Jonathan Brooks.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if you're betting on, if you're taking that swing on him in like the six round,
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: You, you have to feel a very high conviction level that he will overtake.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a good point with canalice.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: It could be a perfect storm.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: If tuba misses week one, I think the likelihood of Jonathan Brooks taking that job and running with it is almost like exponentially higher because momentum for running back matters.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like,
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: There are very few like little windows that matter for you.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: And if you can get a workhorse roll, a breakout roll for one or two weeks, that could be the difference between how the upswing of your season ends up happening, right?
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what we saw with Rico doubt a last year.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: So it could be a perfect storm.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: Chuba misses week one.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: He gets to Chicago Bears.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Pops off for a hundred from Scrimmage.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then all of a sudden, he's the starter.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I've heard enough from the Chuba injury that concerns me to the point.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: because we're four weeks out.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: If it was a grade two where it's like six to eight weeks like yeah, Jonathan Brooks should be a fifth six round pick at that point.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm a little bit hesitant to chase him up the board.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: He falls still to like the eighth round.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm intrigued anything higher than that.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm probably going to hit the pause button on it because right now I still have him ranked as like a back end eighthish round pick.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is a spot where you just really have to be price sensitive.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's too early to get a feel for where he's going to be going in these rooms.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's only been a couple of days.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: So this is definitely a play it by your situation.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: There will be people who are going to shoot them up their boards and get.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: overly aggressive.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're largely in the same range to a degree.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I do have him in the seventh round in 12 team leagues.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be a very much a case by cases kind of thing depending on just who you're playing with and how tuned in and how excited they are for Jonathan Brooks.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, we're honestly we're fortunate that he didn't have like any big plays in their first preseason.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like one 18 yard run one touchdown like it's over like he's a fifth or six round pick and then you're never actually getting that back.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, there are a bunch of other injuries though, and I think we should probably run to because
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're seeing like all the fun young exciting players in fantasy are getting hurt right now.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe that's the case every summer, but this one feels like it is targeting breakout candidates.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like the ones that everybody wants to be in on, the ones that we feel like to take that next leap.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: And one of them I'm referring to is a mechabuka who's dealing with some sort of like toe spraying toe injury.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: And that, again, I think we're far enough out.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: You have like a full month.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: We got four full weeks to recover from it.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: But the toe injuries kind of a little bit scary.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's one a minorly concerned about because we see toe injuries linger pretty significantly.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: We saw it with like a Brock party last year.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen it year over year where if guys get these toe injuries and try to play through it, it's a very high level of reactivation.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm probably 51 49 still optimistic that he'll be full go ready to go week one and not hampered and I'm perfectly fine still drafting and I think where I have him in my rankings, but I think it does need to be brought up talked about.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have any concern about the Ibuka toe injury right now?
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's very strange because in the offseason, the teams and the coaches that they can be a lot more vague about what it is and what it looks like.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not sure what to make of it.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: The language is to spring.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen some folks like the Twitter docs throwing around the word turf toe, which is always a little bit scarier that was.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was a burrow and party last year who had their seasons evaporated by turf toe.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: So it seems that there's not what I was reading is that there's not structural damage to the ligaments, so they're not considering surgery, which is obviously a massive plus.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's fair to dock him though if it is something that is light, turf to a moderate turf toe or just a bad sprain, we could see some performance decline in the first few weeks of the season.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: For me though, I'm not overreacting it too much because I think his role is so locked in.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's fair to nitpick in that stretch of dress because I still have going at the three four turn in 12 team leagues back in the third early fourth.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: There is a big cluster of wider severs there.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: All of whom you can take your pick.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: You could reasonably pitch as a big time breakout candidate.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to split hairs there and use that as a reason to move him towards the back of that tier.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's fine, but I'm still A.O.K.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: grabbing him there late third early fourth.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Me too.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a really concerned less we hear some sort of reporting on it being more than anything like a, you know, like a great one or whatever, same thing with Luther burden we kind of talked about him a little bit last week got the growing injury, whatever, but there was some video servicing of him like kind of running on it and jogging and obviously, you know, that doesn't mean he's like ready to play.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: But that's definitely good news because if it's something super severe, you're just like completely off of it.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: You're letting it rest until you have a feeling of like comfortability within your legs and stuff like that.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: So again, four weeks out, we kind of have the same sentiment last week.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're both probably still feeling relatively optimistic about Luther Bird and not really docking him in the rankings right now until we hear otherwise of a reason we should be.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: But we do have another young fun wide receiver, a top 10 pick to the New Orleans Saints, Jordan Tyson, the hamstring injury is I mean pessimistic might be like an understatement at this point with you know the way they're talking about it on Twitter how it's concerning it's likely going to follow him into the regular season.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: This is a dude who's dealt with like chronic hamstring injuries now at this point dating back to college and that was one of the big red flags or concerns that a lot of people had.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: with him, he was set up to be in such a good situation this year.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: And now we're not really sure where he lands.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's almost a short thing that he's kind of shut down for the rest of the training camp and preseason, but it's like, when does he return in the regular season when he does now do we have to like worry every time he takes a field as he can re-engine this hamstring.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: So for me, I, I dock Jordan Tyson significantly.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: He moved down, uh,
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: I want to say like outside of my top 45 wide receivers at this point because if this is a grade two hamstring which it feels like that's kind of how they're talking about this thing, I think there's a chance he misses like multiple weeks into into the season and even that it's like all right, this feels like not a flukey thing because it continues to happen to him over and over and over again, what's say you on the on the Jordan Tyson strain.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's another spot where it's so strange because the team seems to be with holding information.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Kellan Moore has said I think multiple times at this point that they're quote unquote still collecting information.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever that means we get a report.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we get a
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: report saying that they're seeking a second opinion, which is not good to hear whatsoever.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: If you've been doing this and paying attention to long enough, that almost always means bad things.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: You can't really think of an example where it ended up being positive in that regard.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Calon Moore's also saying that this has nothing to do with the injury or the hamstring.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: trees that plagued him at Arizona State.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I believe him.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: I have no idea if I believe him.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's another situation where we're going to have to just see how the marker reacts.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: For me personally, I was so far ahead of the market on Tyson that I still think I'm going to be once his ADP drops and settles.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: His ADP before the injury was right around pick 80.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: and I do think he is going to drop to around pick 100 even further.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: It really depends on what the official update and timeline is.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: I have them locked in in the pick 84 range right now in that range of guys that the Jordan Addison's of the world.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I think I'll still end up being ahead of market but it's
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: certainly a situation where we have to be more pessimistic and adjust our thought process on what the early season at a minimum outlook looks like for Jordan Tyson.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the one piece of optimism I will kind of point to is, you know, if you, if you remember the legendary Odell Beckham Junior rookie season missed a, a good chunk of the early regular season with I think it was a hamstring strain as well.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: And by the time he came back, he was, you know, one of if not the best player in fantasy football.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: So similar draft capital, similar athleticism, all that kind of stuff.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess there could be some, you know, room for for light at the end of the tunnel.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: But I think right now if you're drafting, you can't be taking Jordan Tyson anywhere near where you were right prior to this injury.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: because I agree with you.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: He was, he was my wider silver one in the rookie class as it relates to redraft.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: I had him over Carl Neltate for this particular year.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: Love the setup, but you can't really take him at that like five, six turn anymore, just giving the injury cause.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, if he drops like outside of the top 100, like sure, put him on the bench, because again, you're taking guys, it's like hammer, you know, like Jordan Mason or Rashad Whiter, whatever.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, those guys are not going to move the needle anyways.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: We're a Tyson second half of the year.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: It could be, you know, a big time playmaker.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we got a couple other like quick injuries to cover here DJ Moore was playing really well in the bills preseason week one game twisted his ankle, but reports came out that is supposedly not like serious and he's not really expected to miss any time, even though there were some Twitter doctors that were a little bit concerned that it could have been a high ankle sprain mechanism, but
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Unless we hear anything pessimistic there, it seems like he got lucky and he's good to go.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: She'd also report Mike Evans returned to practice, so he missed a little bit of time with the, I believe it was a quad strain, but he is back and fully good.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: So Mike Evans, back up the rankings, if you were worried about him.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: And then Michael, I will, I will let you kind of take over from here in terms of, you know, what, what you thought were the most interesting actionable takeaways from the preseason games.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: If we've gone back, watched
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: All 32 teams play well all 16 teams play the play their stars.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you dipped in and went sick.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, mode this weekend and watch all 32 teams.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: But myself, just the stars here.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about them.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: I did not watch all 32 teams.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: I will say that I did take some of the spots where there were some interesting backups that I wanted to get a feel for.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: So more than 16 for me, but I did not watch very much of like the Rams or the Bears.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: That was that was useless.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: The first spot.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: that I think is interesting and very fantasy relevant is the Tennessee Titans backfield split.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: We see Tajay Spears in the snaps with Cam Ward and the starters, get more work than Tony Pollard.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: Both of them get significant carries and both of them have some good moments and Pollard is the one who goes on to get the goal and carry and punches in a score.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: But this,
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: is not good news if you were thinking that Tony Pollard could be that like reliable RB2 who's going to score 11 points.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: So we keep your RB2 spot afloat.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was a guy that I wasn't drafting whatsoever anyways.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not the type of much like true behavior.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the archetype of running back that I want to be adding on to my rosters.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: But it definitely dampens Pulitzer's outlook and does to a degree lift Spears as an interesting late-round flyer at the running back position.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: We know that he catches passes, but I will say that this is not really a shock because it is a new regime, but that's exactly how they were deployed down the stretch last year.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: In 2025, Spears opens the year on IR with an ankle spray, and then in week five, he kind of gets his feet wet barely place.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: But from week six on, it was a near 50-50 split in snaps.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: Tony Pollock comes in at 11 and a half expected fantasy points per game.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: Spears at 9.6 expected fantasy points per game.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: If you're unaware of what that is, it basically just kind of
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: every sort of situation.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: It accounts for situation and volume.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: So goal line carries are worth more than a carry at your own 15 yard line targets are worth more than carries.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: That, that will speel to calculate your it's a role based fantasy production metric.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: But all that to say, it was very much a split backfield down the stretch.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: We even saw Spears getting some goal line work in the later weeks.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's here to stay that cap's Pollard's ability to consolidate, volume, become that, volume, driven RB2.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: So it just further solidifies my take that Tony Pollard is not a guy that I want to be drafting this year whatsoever.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, is that something that you're reacting to in any capacity next?
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he was actually one of the few guys that I did move down my rankings, following the pre-season games.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think in an ideal world, they just want to split this backfield up a little bit.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think $20 has been great for them.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: And it's crazy.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's actually gone four straight seasons.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it was three seasons in a row of 1300 total yards.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then he missed it last year by like 12 yards or something.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: So realistically a 1300 yard guy every season.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: But he's kind of like the definition of it's like a small hit if you do hit.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: if if if all goes right again for them for like the fourth straight year you're getting a low end RB2 and I think at the price that you have to pay for a guy like Pollard right now with the Taijay Spears added in risk here you're letting up I think too much upside at the receiver position or getting a guy like Tucker craft or like a Laporta or a fan in with
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that solidifies your tight end spot or park or washing tin where you're like shooting for a lot of upside-it receiver.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, polar move down for me.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: I do think again, like if all things are equal, spheres can stay on the field.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: I do think they want to use this in like at least like a 6040 fashion.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that doesn't even account for like the systemic risk of being on the Tennessee Titans who could be just a shit show.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: Again, like I'm optimistic about the changes they made, but I'm not I'm not close to, you know,
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: betting my money on the fact that the Titans are going to be this old world offense at this point.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: They still have a really poor offensive line and I think that's going to affect, you know, the ground game in general, Kim Ward is not proven himself to be a plus tier starter by any means either.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I think there's a lot of risk going on.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like again, in a perfect world of Tony Pollard hits, he's like, what, the RB 17 or 18 and you're kind of drafting him at the RB 23 24.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: It does not feel like the juices were at the squeeze there.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: So he's yeah, he's he's outside of my
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: So he's pretty far down my rankings, you're getting to a point where it's just like, all right, you'll get 10 plus touches a game, but a lot of just kind of nastyness going on in Tennessee.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: We, we definitely fall in line there.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, there's just no upside there.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's just such a hard click for me.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: But moving on to another backfield, one that is far more interesting for fantasy purposes because it does feature a guy who is going in the fourth round of drafts more often than not the New York Giants.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: And if you have been kind of locked into the B reports and everything that's been kind of bubbling up over the course of the off season, this has been an interesting backfield to keep tabs on for starters.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: We have conflicting reports coming out of New York.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: Some are saying that Camp Scadaboo is going to be the go-to guy.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: There's other reports saying that Tyrone Tracy is going to have a role in the backfield.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: So John Harba, I believe it was a week and a half ago, said Tracy's in for a big role.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: Both guys, referring to Tracy and Skataboo.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: Both guys are going to play a lot.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: Then they go on to list Skataboo and Tracy as co-starters on the dev chart.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: And in warmups, there's this kind of report that goes mini viral in our little corner of the internet.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's saying that Tracy's working with Jackson Dart and Skataboo's working with the backups.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a whole lot to parse through to begin with.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: and then we get on the fields and the snap shares are very interesting.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: With 16 snaps with the starters, it's Scataboo for five, Tracy for seven and Devon's single Terry even gets four.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: So if you consume fantasy content like this video or even elsewhere, people will be saying or just at least pointing out that snap share of what their takeaway is that remains to be seen.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think that it is actionable in the sense that this is completely complete nonsense.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: I am not looking into this whatsoever because you can see the snap shares, but you go and watch the actual game, they were not operating the offense in a manner that we would see ever in a regular season football game.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: So on the first drive, Scataboo opens, gets a handful of plays, and then Tracy comes on.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: They played two drives with the starters on the second.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's single Terry opens the second drive.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: Then Skataboo comes in, then Tracy comes in, then single Terry comes back and then Skataboo comes back.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: We don't see NFL teams play like that whatsoever, anytime in the regular season.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: So I think some people out there will make something of the Giants backfield snaps with the starters that we saw over the weekend.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just here to tell you, do not look into it that heavily.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you had a take on Scataboo or Tracy, if you're bullish on Scataboo, I wouldn't let this get you off of him.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think it's worthwhile, but given the rotation and the weird snap counts, I do think there will be some buzz, some uproar, if you will, about the Giants backfield plans.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not weighing it too heavily whatsoever.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is a weird one to parse out, but I almost fully align with you there where it's like I've been to do that's very much an unscathaboo this year and this does not change my confidence level and that like Devin single Terry's not going to have a real role in this often so throw that out the window Tracy will I think he's a good enough back that I think you're going to have to spell him and scatbo scatbo run so hard and I think he probably need someone that can kind of back him up a little bit but at the end of the day
- 23:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to be coming back from such a serious injury.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's preseason week one.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to be like, we need to make sure that we match his snaps with what he's going to have in the regular season.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: So fantasy people can be excited about it.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't see a ton of overlap between how they're actually going to play and what they did.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: I also, like, the play that Dart got absolutely drilled on was like a complete with on title and Tracy's pass blocking.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to accentuate that out and be like, oh, there's no way you could put him back on the field now or anything like that, but I just thought it was kind of notable because
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: There's just not much scatterboot can't do you know like when you watch and play he looks good running the ball He's like way shiftier than he gets credit for he's got a little bit of juice that you probably don't really see coming He's a great pass catcher the only like I really hope they do use him on third downs because I think that's probably one of his most valuable assets Is the ability to hit dudes when they're coming in on the pass rush be able to kind of like sync out there to pat to catch passes.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's one of those things we're going to keep a really close eye on for the remainder of the preseason, just to make sure that things start to go closer and closer to the way we think they're going to go in the regular season, but I'm with you like week one, there's no reason to get to do like Scataboo.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: It was just good to see him on the field, like the fact that he started the fact that he was running a hundred percent.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: After like the injury had last year, I think most people are like, oh, this could put him in jeopardy for like 2026.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: And now the injury is almost like an afterthought.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: You don't even have to like worry about at this point.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm with you.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really taking much away from it for right now, not in panic mode.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: Not at all, not at all.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: Next up, we've got your weekly Dejan Stripling segment.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: Stripling, the 49ers, they rest just about everyone.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: CMC, George Kittle, Perti, everyone who's an entrenched veteran starter is not playing.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: No surprise, it would have been shocking if Stripling was rested as well, but no surprise, they want to get him some action, get him on the field.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: He is playing alongside the backup, so it is important to note that.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: But he looked good.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: He looked good again with the quote unquote starters he runs 15 of 16 routes on those 15 routes.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: He draws eight targets and he gets some slot usage as well.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: Not sure whether to to think that that's going to hold up.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure if he's truly competing for the slot role and considering that Evans and Debo didn't play.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: We don't really know what they have planned, what's in store in terms of their alignment, and how each of them are going to be deployed.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: But it was still encouraging that basically alongside the backups, he was dominant.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: He looked really good.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to watch the film.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: You see the plays that he made.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: He had some really nice plays at the catch point.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: And just the targets for outrun.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: He draws eight targets on 15 routes.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's incredible.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not going to
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: But I walked away being excited for what Dejaun's thrilling you can do.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: You saw him.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: He makes that really incredible sideline catch.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: He goes up and gets it.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: He picks up a first down with arms extended catching away from the body.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: It was all good stuff.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to overreact because I do think that the market probably will.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: I did bump him up my ranks.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: I now do have him ahead of Debo Samuel.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: For me, it's just further solidifies all of the buzz that we have been hearing not only about opportunity in terms of routes and snaps, but the fact that in camp he has looked very good and then he goes and does it on the field in preseason.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: So it's all coming together for me, it's kind of hard to deny the buzz and the hype train.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's still firmly right in the 10th round for me.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: So he's not shooting shooting up my draft board, but he's an interesting pick nonetheless.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's he's at 119 for me right now.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: Widersy were 48, which I think that's where I had him before the game, but now I feel you know further solidified that that's probably a good upside shot to take on tripling.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: Watching him play, if you had just kind of covered his name, it really did feel like they just
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's just big body, like, can kind of do it all over the field, get scrappy, win contested catches, run over the slot, like, what a replacement.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's a lot more explosive.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a better version of Joanne Jennings than a younger version of that.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think they nailed that pick.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: And even when you were like watching the game,
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: You could just tell, he kind of like jumped off the screen a little bit more than everybody else.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_00]: You could tell every time work, drop back.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, triplings my alpha, like he's the guy I'm looking for first.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's just good to get that sense of getting the pads on and doing that in a real life situation.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: Because you hear, if you ever watch like hard knocks or if you hear football players talking about it, it's like, yeah, a lot of dudes like look good in practice and look good throughout OTAs and whatever.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: But when you get the pads on, you can tell very quickly, like, who's going to be a real legit player?
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: And it did just feel like walking away from that game, tripling will have a legitimate role in this offense.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think at least for the first, you know, month or two, Debo, I think is going to be a near every down player.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think Shadowhand probably just trusts him like to a very, very high level.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be Evans.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: Debo will have a huge role.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think tripling will probably start off as like a 50 to 60% snap guy.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: But could definitely see him being one of those like post-buy rookie guys who just
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't want people to really overthink.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily like prospect profiles, but there have been a ton of guys that have just been good at fantasy despite, you know, not being highly regarded in like reception perception, just being in the right place at the right time with a good coach who like sets you up for success.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I think tripling could absolutely be one of those.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: So again, play against the backups, but I do think he felt like you just watched him play in that game and he kind of jumped off the screen and you're like, I'm excited about this guy.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was hard not to be after watching it.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: And just to add one more thing on that, I think we touched on it in the last show, but talking about what you mentioned with the situation, with him being Kyle Shanahan scheme, which we know prioritizes and gets the most out of players who are really good yak weapons, that is dribbling all in card.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: So that's just another plus to when you're considering his outlook and what he could bring to the table this year.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: So the fit could be very, very solid in that regard.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Jeremiah loves.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's not someone that I think that we can take too much away.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: People were buzzing online and there will be some people who overreact to the actual performance.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: He looks pretty good.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: He has some solid numbers in the box where he has like a little mini hurdle that people were posting on Twitter and stuff.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's not really what I'm interested in.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: And as you'll tell from the content of the show, we're more focused on usage as opposed to
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: But man, it was the Jeremiah Love Show with the starters.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: He moved, he moved differently out there, man.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was, it was fun to see.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: He was definitely a dude, you're like, okay, this guy does fuel.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_00]: It was weird because I love Gentie, but there weren't many times last year where you were watching him and you're like, yes, like, you know, Adrian Peterson, ask prospect or talent.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: Love that felt like, all right, he had a few runs or it's like, yep, he's the next shady.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's the next, like, Lavy on Bell.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like you could just tell right away, you know?
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, but we were going back and forth on the show.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: We all expected to see this that that's kind of just what it is like we all know who this guy was one of the best running backs prospects of the last decade that's no surprise what I did like to see though was in late July early August that there was a lot of fun about
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Tyler Algier, potentially being a thorn in the side of those who want to take Jeremiah love in their fantasy leagues.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: We did not get that in preseason week one.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: In the drives with Algier and love, it was 71% of the snaps for love.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: You ran 80% of the routes, 20% of the targets, and he was on the field for both of the teams inside the ten snaps.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: They did not take a true goal line step.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: So nothing from inside the five.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's bell cow usage though.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's bell cow usage.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: I was already skeptical of the reports about Algier being like a legitimate like one be playing 40% of the SNAPs, 45% of the SNAPs, that that seems like nonsense to begin with and that further confirm that this is Jeremiah's love's back field, it's going to be all love all day and he has the 3 down profile to really just force Algier into just a true, he's on the spell love for a handful of SNAPs kind of role.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think he's just a super solid pick of the two three turn.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: This kind of profiles, the one that you staff to pay up like significant portions for like get you you'd have to, you know, use a very risky one to turn pick on a guy like him.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: And now you get him a full round later.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: So it just makes sense, even with the warts that are in the profile of like, cool.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: He looked good last night.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's against backups on a shitty run defense to begin with, are there going to be enough goal-line carriers for love to hit that double-digit touchdown mark?
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: It probably doesn't really matter if you get them at the three one or the three two because you're going to have enough volume and enough explosive plays to get there at the end of the day.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: Does he have like top three or top five upside to finish there?
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not because of the situation, but I still think like the floor is so high because of how talented he is and you're like getting to take him at such
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: a discounted price relative to recent years.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: So love was a very fun watch.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_00]: They, I mean, the workloads insane in the first, it was like 14 touches in one half of one preseason game.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_00]: And now they have to let them rest for a week and a half because he's like all, you know, battered and soaring everything like that.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, that's insane.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: Cool to see, but like, relax, you know?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was strange to see the number three overall pick running back get 14 touches and we've one of the preseason I will add on the the scoring opportunity's aspect.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: I was digging into this the other day Everyone remembers how much of like quote unquote garbage time merchants the the cardinals were last year
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think we see more of the same last year, they end up ranking ninth in the league and red zone drives and 17th in the league and total snaps from inside the 10 yard line.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: So that's quite far from bottom of the barrel.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that we can see more of the same.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be another,
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: pretty poor defense and they have a solid cast of past catchers and weapons and a distributor at quarterback who is in my opinion competent at a minimum that that's really all you need when you have those high-end receivers in Marvin Harrison, Michael Wilson, and Tramic Bride.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I do think that it's fair to question the top three top five upside but I don't think that the access to scoring up.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: opportunities is something that we should really use as a knock on loves profile.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: And like you mentioned, he can just get it done from 40 yards out.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's 2112 pounds and has 43 speeds.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: So it can be done in a multitude of ways.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_00]: I do want to throw one more thing in there too because like you talked about the you know everyone's like oh regression regression regression regression when it comes to the passing volume for the Cardinals and it's like yeah of course is going to come but they're still going to have to be relatively pass heavy because of how the game scripts are going to go I will say watching the game to I thought before use Jeremiah love really well in the passing game he ran a ton of like those Texas routes where you're kind of coming out an angle and then hitting a quick you know step back that's like a triangle route which
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: get some such easy separation.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_00]: So there's definitely a world where Jeremiah loves walks away, seeing like six targets a game and makes his bread that way catching 70 passes throughout, you know, the course of the year, because even if Tyler has years getting 30% of the snaps, none of those are really going to be coming in passing situations.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to have else you're running a ton around.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, love can make up for a lot of the things because of his full, you know, encapsulation of athleticism and explosives this.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: The next one is another running back who's going in the same range at the two three turn, more so solidified in the third round.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: But it's Bree's Hall.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_01]: We had heard the drum beat the reports just a couple of weeks ago that they want to use this guy as a full-blown bell cow because
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: You think of Breeze Hall as an every downback, do it all kind of guy.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's not really how they deployed him last season.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: He played 63.9% of the snaps takes 73.7% of the backfield opportunities.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: And the biggest knock was that he really did see the third downwork to Isaiah Davis.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: That is not what we saw on the preseason, 10 of 11 snaps.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: with the starters.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: So they, they seemingly confirm those reports that we were seeing that this is the Breeze Hall show.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to the, the rushing game and to a degree of the receiving game.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's all gonna flow through him.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: That was super exciting.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: It makes me a lot more confident.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: confidence in drafting Breeze Hall early in the third round despite the systemic concerns of the jets offense.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I will note that the one thing that I think really held back Breeze Hall last year was the lack of receiving volume from Justin Fields and
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: all of the other Jags who they threw out there at quarterback down the stretch, he had a career low in targets in a healthy season.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_01]: He only logged 48 targets.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: I believe the second year in the league, he was coming back from the ACL tier.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: He had almost a hundred.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: Gino Smith has targeted running backs at a pretty respectable rate floating right around 19% each of the last two seasons, which has would put him top 10, top 12 kind of mark.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: So that's not
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: that the potential for his receiving volume to jump back up and the encouraging usage coming out of week one.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that this is a guy who relative to the talent he's being potentially too heavily discounted because of team level concerns because I think we all know that this guy
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: When he's rolling is a top six running back in the NFL, so you're getting that sort of profile and talent in the third round.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: If things come together and this is even top 20 offense in the NFL and the receiving volume comes back up, which you know Smith under center, it could get pretty exciting.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to feel real comfy about having brishal in the third round, especially when
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I actually, I think that's a good comp between like, came in Jeremiah.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_00]: They're in very similar situations.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think it's actually being talked about enough that like the jet defense is probably going to be horrendous to the point where it's terrible.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_00]: Or, like, really, really bad.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_00]: So they're going to be like the Cardinals.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be like the Bengals.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be like the Cowboys, where they're going to have to throw the ball a million times.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_00]: And we saw last year, Gino gave Gentile like 75 targets himself.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, going from Justin Fields to Gino Smith as a quarterback in terms of like receiving work is going to be a massive difference.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: I still do think the systemic risk of just like the offensive system there like we could get to week one and, you know, the jets could lose 28 to 12 and we're like, why would we draft a running back in this fucking offense for the fourth year in a row.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think, you know, they give them the contract.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: They're, they're going to try to give them the feature workload whether or not that pans out.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_00]: obviously remains to be seen.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a pretty roller coaster type of career for him thus far, but we've seen the good parts of what he can be at many different points throughout his career.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_00]: So it is fully a team fade if I'm going to move against Reshall and nothing to do with him as an all around player.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, like you said, 90% of the snaps, preseason week one, with the starters there, very encouraging usage out the gate.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's probably what we're going to see a lot of during the season.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll probably get there by volume one way or another.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: I agree, minute ago, I had your weekly Dejawn Stribbling Update.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now I've got your yearly Packers-wide receiver rotation update.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's playing out exactly like we thought.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's exactly what we thought.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: They lose on Tavian Wix, they lose Romeo Dobs, leaving Jadenry, Christian Watson, and Matthew Golden.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: It has been speculated all off season long that it was going to be Watson and Golden as the outside receivers and the guys who play in two receiver sets leaving jade and read in the slot only playing on three receiver sets.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: We get a small sample of nine snaps with Jordan love in the start and the starters, but that's how it plays out it's Watson and
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: golden playing as in the two receiver sets and read is only on the field in the slot for 11 personnel.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: Read does log a 100% route rate, but that is because every single pass came out of 11 personnel that is obviously not
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: what we are going to see in the regular season and I did also note that I think we could have seen a higher rate of 11 personnel usage just because their two top tight ends were both sidelines in this first preseason game so that's something you should be waiting at heavily or particularly actionable but something to keep in the back here ahead.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: So it's business as usual.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's disappointing for as someone who likes the talent that is Jaden Reed and that doesn't necessarily mean that this is how things are going to play out for the entirety of the season because simply put Matthew Golden was pretty damn awful as a rookie.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: He did barely miss on some potential along touchdowns and explosive plays because of overthrows or just misses from Jordan Love.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: But you look at the numbers, you look at the film, it's nothing really exciting, it's understandable, just from a player archetype perspective, why they want him operating on the outside and playing it to receiver sets, as well as the draft capital they spend a first round pick on him for the first time in Weber.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: It was like 20 years they used the first round pick on a wide receiver.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: So it's no shock.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: little disappointing for Reed, but an understanding that once we get six weeks, eight weeks into this season, teams always adjust and get their best players on the field.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: We have a graph for the Packers wide receiver rotation, are you reacting whatsoever, or is it kind of just business as usual?
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's not impacting your ranks.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: No, I mean, this is kind of how I looked at it all summer was it was going to be golden in the two wide receiver sets.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think most of the beat reporters were kind of on top of that and letting us know that that was likely how it was going to play out.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's just such such a tough situation because like we know Jade and Reed is talented and we know he's good, but like,
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: You just can't really find a season-long ceiling if you're gonna play 60 to 65% of the snaps, which is what makes it difficult.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: And in my mind, I had the two much closer than I thought I did in my rankings, but I actually had Jane Reed like significantly higher, and I'm gonna actually have to change that I think.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_00]: If Golden's gonna end up playing 15 to 20% more of the snaps and just be on the field with the offense, they have to at least be really close to each other.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious, where do you have the two ranked in terms of, like, I guess, why to receive her position?
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have Reed above Golden?
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I do.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I've got Matthew Golden at a hundred flat and I've got Jaden Reed somewhere in the 80s here.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I definitely have Jaden Reed at 83.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I've got Reed about around and a half ahead of Matthew Golden because for me on Golden, I
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: I have always been of the belief that this guy is not very good.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: I've called him the worst pick of the first round coming out of the NFL draft last year and then he proceeds to just look terrible like I said.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't want to buy in a golden from a talent perspective.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I also don't want to fully fade him because I understand that the opportunity will almost certainly be there for him.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was confirmed last night.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be on the field.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be running routes.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to leave the light on for me being wrong about who Golden is as a player.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: But I just can't get him ahead of Jade and Reed just because of where I feel they are as talents.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: And the market's not playing it that way either.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to get
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: because just when I'm drafting, I know if I wanted to for whatever reason.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: I could get both of these guys because Golden goes around and a half behind Jaden Reed.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: So again, I understand what I was talking about earlier.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: I understand this is how things will look week one.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: It will be golden and Watson into receiver sets.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: It will be golden playing on the outside with read that relegated to a slot only roll.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: I understand that that could change as well.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I really more so want to bet on the talent that is jaden read.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think read is the more talented of the receivers.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think based on opportunity and snap shares alone, I'm going to be able to move golden ahead of him in my rankings.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I should point out one of the things to that I kind of just tweeted out a little while ago, Tucker craft is back at practice in full playing 11 on 11's running, getting tackled all that kind of stuff.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_00]: So this is a full four weeks before kickoff right now.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_00]: So craft will be out there.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: There will be no public forum.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_00]: There will be no slowing him into the rotation.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he's a 90% guy coming like right out of the gate.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_00]: But he's got a plenty of time to ramp up here.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_00]: So you know, you mentioned going a little bit more.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_00]: 11 personnel heavy in the preseason likely because they're down a couple tight ends but crap there's going to be an every down player.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure they'll get other tight ends involved there which obviously further kind of increases the risk for a jane read or whoever they end up moving to the slots playing time.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the one reason I am just bullish on a golden a Matthew Golden's like
- 43:55[SPEAKER_00]: Your team, like you don't draft to do in the first round to be like, I hope you play slot only, you know, like I can't wait to get like this slot only guy on the field using first round draft.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that I think they want to give Matthew Golden every chance to succeed.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I'm going to end up moving them like borderline back to back in my rankings.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's fair.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think that would be fair.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: Next up, we have some guys that I think are priority RB2s and priority handcuffs.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: They have a wide range of ADPs and for the most part, I think that they're being valued too cheaply because these guys are just locked in RB2s in my opinion.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: The last one, it's suspected best, but
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: The first two here, stop staying in Green Bay, March on Lloyd.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: Josh Jacobs is out with a growing injury and Lloyd plays every single snap with the starters.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't do anything particularly exciting on the field.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't rip an explosive play, but we know that at least coming into the league.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: This guy was an explosive playmaker with...
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Also the chops to be an every down player potentially.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: He never really did it in college, but he has the requisite size.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: I forgot this.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: I was looking into Lloyd this off season.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: He clocked in a 220 pounds.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he's listed at that.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: That is the size required to be an every down running back in the NFL.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that's encouraging to me.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: And he also, he just does things that Jacobs does not.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: The coaching staff have talked about it this offseason about how he's this electric running back.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: He can just do awesome things with the ball on his hands and blow by guys.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: Again, we don't see it in the preseason.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: But it's clear that this guy is their second running back.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's fine.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: Andly back to injury plagued years to open his NFL career.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's a stone zero.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: If this guy can remain healthy, I think that there is a standalone role for him alongside Jacobs just because there's such different types of runners with the thunder and the lightning, it is kind of what it is, how they describe the junior Gibbs in David Montgomery.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then the handcuff value, the contingent upside, I really do think that if Jacobs does miss any time whether it be injury or the off-field concerns potential for suspension,
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: If he does miss time, I do think that this cut becomes Martian Lloyd's full-blown backfield.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, he's he's like the highest upside hand cuff that you can get at like hand cuff pricing.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_00]: Because now it's like nowadays you can't really buy hand cuffs at normal pricing.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: Any more like Blake quorum's like a ninth round pick.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like those types of dudes, you don't really get discounts on, but Martian Lloyd is quite literally that guy.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: Him and like tank bigs be are in their backfields taking every single snap when the starter is out there.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and it's funny, Martian Lloyd and Josh Jacobs are almost like two opposites of each other where Jacobs is like do the right thing grind the yards out make the right cut every time Martian Lloyd is just a firecracker.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's like he's big.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's fast.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's explosive.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_00]: He just loves to cut shit outside when he probably shouldn't, but it's like a different style of runner that I think the Packers would probably welcome because they need those sorts of plays in their offense right now.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 46:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough to say if he'll actually have involvement when the season comes because they've road Josh Jacobs like into the ground every single year and eventually you're going to be like, oh, let's like try to, you know, give somebody else some work, but they haven't really shown that they want to do that.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_00]: So for right now, Marsha on Lloyd is for sure handcuffed territory, but without a doubt if Jacob for the missed time, he would be, you know, a top 10 ranked fan is running back on any weekly basis right out of the gate.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you're not even paying like top to your handcuff prices for Marsh on Lloyd.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: He has a consensus ADP of the RB56 right now.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: So you don't have to pay up for him whatsoever.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: So you don't really need that standalone role alongside Jacob's for him to be a logical pick at his current price tag.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_01]: The other one you threw out.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_01]: tank fix, be it that was another one I had on my list, plays every single snap with the starters, Sake Juan Barclay gets rest.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's another guy in that same tier, just clear cut priority handcuffs.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: If the starter goes down, this guy is going to take on an awesome roll in an awesome offense.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: The Eagles offense will look terrific.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think they might have opened with seven straight puns or something ridiculous like that.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_01]: They're not playing any of their relevant skill players, so not something really to look into, so tank picks these in a similar area for me in terms of my rankings to Marsha on Lloyd.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_01]: Another one I'll throw out is Ray Davis.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: He mixes in with the starters a little bit, so he's another interesting one.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: And then the last one is Jaydon Blue.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: Javante Williams doesn't play.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: Jaydon Blue leads the back field.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like he's locked in as the
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: with the fake starters in that game.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even remember who was at quarterback, but it wasn't deck.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: It was Jay Nombloose time to show that he can be this team's RB2.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't really do it.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: He has 8 carries for 90 yards.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: He does take a nice design screen for 13 yards, which was nice to see.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing really pops off the page, but at least for now it looks like he has
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: moved ahead, dispeled concerns that Phil Muffa or Malik Davis could really challenge him.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's similar to Lloyd in the sense that I do believe, just given his electricity in open space.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: He could mix in pretty regularly throughout the regular season.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_01]: So he's a talent and an offense where I do want to be taking back up running back.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: So Biggs V Allen, J.D.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: on Blue, anyone that, that call your interests this weekend?
- 49:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, all the, the two, we, we named originally Lloyd and tank are definitely super interesting because I think we've seen them kind of be good on a football field.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I feel super confident that if their starter gets hurt, they're going to be the ones to take over workhorse capabilities.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_00]: Ray Davis, I don't really feel confident with that because I think Ty Johnson will have a major role in the passing downward.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think Davis would have good ground game numbers, but Ty Johnson's been out for the last few weeks with some sort of lower body injury
- 49:41[SPEAKER_00]: interesting to me.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_00]: Jaden blues a good one because I think again, he's like a great in to Javante Williams is Yang there where he's a smaller, like explosive guy that they can get involved on the third downs.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how interested Dallas is in like getting another running back on the field.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's so efficient with their passing offense between pickings and lamb that I'm like, I don't know that they care much about rotating the backs and I think they
- 50:08[SPEAKER_00]: You don't blues like a, you know, he's he's a past catching specialist where if again, if Javante goes down, there would be some sort of committee there.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't know, I don't think Jadam blues ever going to be a dude who's getting 15 plus carries in a game.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: So that's another one where I'm like, not overly excited.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think it'd be cool if he carbs out a roll, but I don't see his roll changing to a massive degree if there's an injury in front of him.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_00]: So I would definitely rank it, Lloyd, tank, very close together.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jadam blue has some maybe standalone value.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: I have it similar to you.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: I have it tank Lloyd, blue Davis.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_01]: I might bump Davis ahead of Lloyd.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll see.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: To TPD.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: Moving forward, the next up was the Browns rookie wide receivers.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_01]: Casey concepts Yone and Denzel Boston.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: Boston had been the busier, the trendier guy, throughout training camp reports of him making nice plays.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: There was that one that went miniviral again about him.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: promoted to the first team.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: So there's that, we see both of them operate alongside the starters.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: They play the entirety of the first half, but before they really kind of start pulling some of the more veteran guys at the skill positions, Boston and Concepts Yon are out there.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: Both of them make some nice plays, but it was Concepts Yon who I did really get excited about.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: He, of course,
- 51:32[SPEAKER_01]: And then he does mix in on the outside moving forward.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I'm really buying into that, because I can't remember who tweeted it out, but I saw something that basically all of their wider severs were kind of getting mixed in into receiver sets and playing from different alignments.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that Casey Concepts Jones home come the regular season is the slot, but it was still encouraging to me, because given what I think about this offense,
- 51:54[SPEAKER_01]: and their ability to generate explosive plays.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that concepts you on skill set, being an underneath guy, and being like a speedster, a shifty guy, that aligns well with where I think this offense can legitimately find success.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: And then also, they showed that they were more than willing to get him ball, the ball in creative ways.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_01]: He got two rushes, maybe one of them was technically classified as a pass, because it's like one of the pop pass, yep.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, but he gets, he's on an end around twice and he gets the ball on his hands right in the back feel.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: And one of them, he looks really gritty, really tough and takes it in for a touchdown.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: So that, that was all exciting for me to see.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_01]: I have, I already did have conception.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: I had a Boston in my ranks just because of their archetypes as players and how I think that fits this offense and what's conducive to fantasy value in Cleveland and with
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: Shidorah Sanders and Deshawn Watson under center.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: But these are two guys who from day one are going to be running routes, beginning snaps.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_01]: And they both make some solid plays.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's justifiable to become more optimistic and even move these guys up your ranks.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: Did you have any moves or moves in your ranks or takeaways from either of these guys?
- 53:08[SPEAKER_00]: The one thought that I had gone through my mind this morning as I was like watching the Browns play.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: was man like this could legitimately be one of the funnest groups of fantasy skill players in the NFL if they had a quarterback.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like I would you could make yourself excited about every single player on the offense between Juggins fan in Boston, Concepts Yon.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_00]: So if you listen to the athletic podcast, but Robert May's who works for the athletic does the series every summer where he goes to different training camps and they interviewed the athletic writer for that specific training camp and they went to Cleveland and the Cleveland beat reporter was like, I can't even like tell you the night and day difference.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_00]: What it feels like to have real receivers on the field for our team for the first time in years.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, in the previous years, it felt like when we were running out, central
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: We had not an ounce of separation on the field at any point.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, now it feels like we have legitimate real threats at the receiver position.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_00]: So they could feel it on the field.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_00]: Because, Sexy Owen, like you mentioned it, you know, yet the end around for the touchdown.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_00]: They had the little like shovel pass.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_00]: Todd Munkins, like going to get conceptions hands on the ball, you know, multiple times forced per game, which is cool.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they'll end up having a higher floor because he's going to be one of those guys.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_00]: He'll probably have like 600, 600 50 receiving yards.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_00]: But it'll probably add like a sneaky one 50 on the ground and before you know it, I'll have one of the higher yardage rookie seasons because of the ways that they get him involved there.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_00]: So concepts, you know, it's really interesting from a PPR standpoint.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's really hard to get behind Boston despite the really strong usage.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's going to be, they pretty much already announced.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be like the full time X and it'll be out there on almost every route.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_00]: Problem is like how valuable is it to Sean Watson X at this point?
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like he
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's only comfortable when he's like shovel passing something like that like three yards in front of the line of scrimmage anymore.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_00]: He can't really make the throws that matter for an ex type of receiver.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_00]: So it feels like we might be a year to early on a Denzel Boston.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's fine probably taking shots on either of them because I think, you know, who knows.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like maybe the offense can surprise a little bit.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you should or Sanders is fine and you know, those two start to get funneled a lot of targets.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_00]: But I think at the end of the day,
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take a couple shots on conception, but if I'm really going to be like, okay, I want a part of this passing offense, it's probably just going to be spending up on her outfit and letting him, you know, vacuum up a bunch of targets.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, man.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_01]: This concept's young stuff.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_01]: I had a lot of conviction in loving Harold van in this year.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_01]: It is really making me question that conviction because they earned targets in the same area of the fields, and this is an inherited player for a new regime in Todd Monkin.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't have the pedigree assembly prospect, obviously he's sensational as a rookie.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you can really tell yourself the story that they prioritize conception over Fanon in that short to intermediate area of the field with some like kind of scheme up plays near the line of screenage.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_01]: So it's making me nervous.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure I'm going to bump Fanon down at this point or do anything ridiculous.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm having second thoughts.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's the bullishness of conception.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_00]: It makes sense.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think conception is going to be more of like a manufactured touch guy for them.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like he will take most of those touches, but Bannon, I think, is just so dominant from like 10 to 20 yards down the field.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll be targeted at such a high volume.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't be surprised if he again finished with like,
- 56:15[SPEAKER_00]: three or four touchdowns, but catches, you know, between 80 or 90 passes this year and just gets there and PPR leads, you know, we can't really understate like how important it is that David and Joe who's not there anymore.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_00]: This is like, all we wanted as people that like fantasy tight ends is like, all we want is that one dude to kind of get out of the picture.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_00]: So we can have our guy open up and be like, the leading target dude there.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think the way that these quarterbacks play, the Sean and Shadow are like, they want to pepper that that area of the field.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_00]: We're both fanning and concepts.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_00]: I get it, like there are two overlapping players that are probably both very, very good, and we'll probably take the majority of the volume in the offense, but I think Fanon just might be like cut from a different cloth man.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think like what he did as a rookie was the real deal and going back to his college days, the production was just, you know, otherworldly there.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's fair.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_01]: If you like on the spectrum of Gadget Guide to a legitimate target or if you just think conception is closer to Gadget Guide and you think fan and can just actually play a role in or in high-volume.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: There's no reason to adjust or be concerned.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: The next one is going to be a little bit grittier.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_01]: It comes from a team that didn't play literally any of their starters, but I thought it was worthwhile to talk about from a schematic and personnel perspective.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a Los Angeles Chargers.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: They play literally no-one.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_01]: None of their top receivers, Keaton Mitchell rests alongside Omariah and Hampton, Quentin Johnston, Ladma Kunky, and Tray Harris all rest.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_01]: So, Trehara seems to be locked in as the wide receiver three, come on if I dial plays as the running back three.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: So it seems like they've got big plans for Keaton Mitchell.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_01]: The tight ends, it's gads in that plays while Kalar and Enjoku rest.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: The one thing that I noticed and it's something that people have been asking about in terms of like a Trehara's breakout or even a rendez-guads in kind of emerging from this tight end room.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's something that people have talked about this all season.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_01]: It is going to be very hard for players to consolidate snaps in this offense.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think it could be one of those spots where it's a really nasty rotation.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_01]: Part of that is due to the talent and the sheer number of players that are viable snap earners in Los Angeles on this roster.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_01]: The other part, like I was talking about earlier, is the schematics of how Mike McDaniel operates his offense.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: So, particularly in regard to tray harris and the wire to see for three roll,
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a great track record.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you're betting on a tray Harris breakout, just because of how Mike McDonald has used his wide receiver three.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: So 2025, the wide receiver three in a Mike McDonald offense, 62.8% of the routes, 2024, it's 40% of the routes.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_01]: 2023, it's a shade under 50, 22, it's a shade under 60.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_01]: So none of the wide receiver three has ever been a full time player.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then this weekend, we see Mike McDonald use a full back.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_01]: super heavily, which is what we saw in Miami.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: I counted five straight plays to open the game with the fullback on the fields.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_01]: It was Scott Matlock.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: He brings over Alec Engel from Miami.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_01]: So all of that, just how he is used rotations at wide receiver three, the presence of a fullback takes the ability to have another wide receiver or a tight end on the fields.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: The presence of multiple tight ends
- 59:35[SPEAKER_01]: particularly if you're interested in a trade harris breakout or you're in on Quentin Johnston's.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_01]: Because I do think that there's a world where this plays out in a manner that they kind of cannibalize each other.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_01]: If they feel that they need to get trade harris on the field, it could come at the expense of Quentin Johnston's steps just knowing how often there's going to be a fullback or a second tight end on the field.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's just hard to figure out the math
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: where all of these guys are playing enough snaps and earning enough routes to be fantasy relevant and consistent enough to get into your lineup week in and week out.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_01]: So it's making me pretty nervous about spending meaningful draft capital on really any of these guys outside of lad Maconkey and Omarian Hampton.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_01]: You can tell your stuff the story about Keaton Mitchell playing like a specialized role.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: He gets a handful of touches a game and he's explosive enough to do something with it.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_01]: But man, this could be like a Packers ask or even a Dolphins, Mike McDonald.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_01]: Mike McDonald asks a situation where it's just no one's seen the field enough to really do anything.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, he didn't even try like getting a wider receiver three during his time in Miami.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, we're good, it was just wild and tired to kill.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_00]: And no one like didn't care about tight ends didn't care about why there's you for three.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like it just didn't matter in his offense.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think the bet on try, like if you're betting on tray Harris this year, it's not necessarily like, oh, I think, you know, he's going to make all three wide receivers relevant.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: Like you're betting against Quentin Johnson, basically.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_00]: You're saying, hey, I don't like Quentin Johnson.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think he'll eventually fall out of line with my big
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_00]: which doesn't really align with what it feels like the sentiment out of camp is right now, but obviously, you know, it's it's summer right now.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_00]: So we have no idea how things will play out during the regular season, but yeah, I think there's a ton of risk involved.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_00]: The portrayal has really never reclipses 50 to 55% of the snaps over the course of the season.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't overtake Quentin Johnson fully.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's a world where he is annoying enough to Johnson that it makes Johnson.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_00]: you know, really unappetizing to draft as well.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it is like a pretty risky situation where the offense will be great, but you want to make sure that you're capitalizing.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think on the guys that will be the focal points of it, which do point to lad, Omar in Hampton.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_00]: You brought up Gatsin, which I think anyone who's been following fantasy over the last couple months or so knows that Gatsin's been a pretty heavy stayaway player, although he had a really good rookie season for a
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_00]: an insufferable blocker like the dude can not get his hands and his body on anybody so you you just can't put him on the field and you know everything points towards that being the case again this year signing Charlie Colar you know they bring him over from Baltimore that's like he gets the co-sign from his brother their hard boss so it's like you know that he probably has a plan in mind he likes the guy goes and gets David and Joku so maybe Gatsons like the best sure route runner and pass catcher in the tight end room but and Joku has always been pretty
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_00]: better blocker there.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's a weird situation that I would probably agree with you and that I'm not really overly enthused about taking anyone outside of Lad or Hampton here.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_00]: We really just don't know what to expect because good coaches too, like Mike McDaniel, like they do typically adapt to what they're working with here.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I think when you have guys like, you know, Waddle and Tyree Kills, it's easy to just feature them and build your entire offense around them.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_00]: When you have guys like Lad and Omar and Hampton and Herbert, you're probably going to feature the offense around what those guys strengths are.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's a weird situation for
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_01]: On the gads to point, I will also add that I'm not freaking out about him playing while in Joku and Kola arrest.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is a second year fifth round pick against a couple of established veterans.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_01]: Kola was obviously not a big name but he's been in the league for a while.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's on his second contract.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I wouldn't double count it if you were already pessimistic about like the reports that have been coming out about him running behind some of those other vets and him and not having as big of a role.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't use this against him further.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's logical for a second year, fifth rounder to be playing in the preseason and not get me rest.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_01]: Last point here, Emma Johnson really stood out to me, man.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_01]: And Emma Johnson looked awesome.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he is in store for a role slash a position on the deaf chart that makes him an interesting handcuff running back and late round pick.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_01]: So all the main starters rest, Mahomes, Rice, where the Kelsey all rest walker plays on the first map of the game, which is a play action pass.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_01]: Touch the ball, he just picks a hand off and then gets off the field.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_01]: After Walker leaves, it's Bershard Smith who takes two drives at running back.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_01]: In theory, that means Bershard Smith is ahead of him on the depth chart.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_01]: The thing about Bershard Smith though is that he's not a real running back.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome in the return game.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_01]: As a past catcher, I don't think the team views him as a legitimate running back.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that the NFL would, I don't, he's just kind of a agagity guy out of the backfield who can generate some explosives.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_01]: He did so in this game.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: But then it's up after to drive a brochure Smith, it's Emmett Johnson time.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_01]: Amari D. Marcato, who people have been wondering throughout the off season, whether he becomes kind of like the backup or the past catcher,
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm already the Mercado doesn't see the field until the fourth quarter, it's all Emmett Johnson, and he was awesome.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_01]: He makes a runaway bounces outside and looks good.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_01]: He punched in a score from the five yard line that ended up getting called back.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: He forced to ten missed tackles, and he didn't even play the full game.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_01]: It was by far the most in week one of the preseason.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: Andy Reed comes out and says that he looked good.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_01]: He was optimistic and liked what he saw out of Emmett
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think his standing on the depth chart is becoming a lot clear, a well ahead of D-Mercado.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_01]: Bershard Smith, not really a real guy in my opinion.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_01]: He might play a role, but if 10 Walker misses any time, he doesn't become a legitimate factor who's playing 60% of the snaps.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think that this is all heading to Emmett Johnson being the clear cut handcuff in Kansas City.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: He comes out of Nebraska with an interesting profile.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's a slow starter.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_01]: But last year, he operates as a full-blown bell cow and he shows real-pass catching chops.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_01]: There's a world in which this is a three-down kind of profile.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_01]: He can do it all.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_01]: He can play on every single-down.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_01]: So that sort of profile coupled with the fact where I believe his standing is now on the depth chart.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's and to a degree also how he looked on the field.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_01]: He shot up my rankings pretty considerably after this first preseason game.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, interesting.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_00]: I, um, you know, I probably won't be taking anyone in the cheese backfield because I don't know that I have like a outside of Kenneth Walker.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that I have a strong stance on like what would happen if if Walker were to go down.
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think Emma Johnson is likely, like you said, kind of the direct backup to Kenneth Walker as a runner right now.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like to me that this is probably going to be like a chase brown situation in Cincinnati where it's like you have the clear one and then you have one annoying random dude that like keeps getting on the field for like, you know, 20% of the snaps and I don't know that Emma Johnson is fit for like he's a better running or he's a better running back and then the guy that's going to get that role, but it's like, and you're just going to want to have a guy that has that role and it might be demarcado it might be perchards may have to might be whatever and that's what makes it like kind of.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_00]: fuzzy in terms of, what do I want behind Kenneth Walker?
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_00]: And it's tough because I actually I love Kenneth Walker and I think he's going to be a dude that I'm trying to get in most of my drafts at the very end of that one to turn.
- 1:06:52[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like, what do I do behind him?
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_00]: Emma Johnson could emerge as the handcuff there.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see as the, you know, as the weeks progress, if he jumps the depth chart, if he's that, if he's the one that ends up getting, you know, the run with the starters next time, we'll see if we even get him a home snaps.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_00]: This August said all I'd be kind of surprised if we do, but yeah, a little bit more clarity behind would be good.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_00]: I just it's just like such a weird situation to pull out given what we've seen over the last couple of years where it's like, all right, let's move let's let's use cream hunt to let's use all these guys that like are not good at what they do, but I just feel comfortable with having them in that role and you never know if Andy reaches like, I like this guy's a past block or a little bit better than I like Emma Johnson and shit just goes sideways because of it.
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_01]: I will say, he's not exactly a buzzer at trendy player, so if I had to guess, I would guess that he remains completely free.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're in a deeper league, you can probably just grab this guy with your last round pick.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you were sold by my argument, potentially consider it, but
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a guy that I think is an absolute must have, but definitely someone who stood out to me there in that first week of preseason action, but those are the biggest ones for me.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_01]: We got into the nitty gritty.
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously there's a bit more that we're going to dissect moving forward here.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_01]: Those were all the big ones.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think that some of them are particularly fans irrelevant.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_01]: some of them maybe a little bit too nerdy, but after watching just about all the games grinding the snap rates and all that, those are those are the big ones to keep an eye on if you've got a draft coming up.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've got a couple other ones that I'll throw out quickly.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_00]: I want to give some flowers to DJ Moore.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about his ankle injury, but I thought he looked great and I think
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_00]: Reports out of camp have been that like he is he is standing out as the clear one in Buffalo.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I want people to leave room for him to still be a good fantasy player this year.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not like he's getting drafted in the ninth round.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like people haven't been giving him the credit that he might have there.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_00]: I do think there's like a large portion of the fantasy community that if you liked Luther bird in the end or Colson love them last year.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_00]: And because it took them so long to kind of get going, there was a lot of like pent up aggression that came out.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_00]: at DJ Moore.
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think that kind of trickled over into like, oh, DJ Moore's actually not a good player anymore because like, look what happened in Chicago.
- 1:09:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then Buffalo gave up a lot of draft capital.
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_00]: And it feels like to me, this is gonna be one of those situations where even if he's not the same player, he might have been during the peak of his career, he was still with Joe Brady and Carolina.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think he knows how to use him.
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_00]: And you're probably gonna be Josh Allen's number one guy.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he looked phenomenal in the preseason game, slightly banged up,
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really coming around to the fact that I think DJ Moore is probably a really, really good pick in the middle of the fifth this round, where he's going.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say you got the wrong suspect brother.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_01]: All my pent up aggression was directed at Alameda as a key as last year for him holding down the slot roll.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the the question you have to ask yourself.
- 1:09:43[SPEAKER_01]: and he could play out both ways.
- 1:09:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not drafting DJ Moore because I have my own personal answer to this question.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that DJ Moore is talented enough in at a point of his career where he can turn what has over the last few years historically been a very spread out passing attack can he consolidate that?
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Because of course, that's the one aspect.
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's been Cleo Shakir.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's been guys like Keon, Coleman, Josh, Palmer, you name all these jags.
- 1:10:09[SPEAKER_01]: But they end up don't engage.
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_01]: They end up no one really consolidates.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_01]: And then DJ Moore, if you look at just the advanced numbers, you look at his yards per outrun, his target rate, whatever it is, he seems to be in the decline of his career.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_01]: He posts lower than a 20% target rate last year, which is a pretty poor number.
- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_01]: Can it is DJ Moore at a point where he can consolidate this passing attack?
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that the fact that it was spread out?
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_01]: Was it a systemic and and schematic decision by Joe Brady and the offense?
- 1:10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Or was it driven by the lack of a talent?
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_01]: And it is DJ Moore good
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_01]: enough to change that.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I fall on the side that the answer is no DJ Moore is not at a point in his career where he can consolidate in Buffalo, especially this being a run heavy and run first offense.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I'm having a hard time clicking DJ Moore.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's no doubt that he looked good in that game.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_01]: He takes advantage of a of a of a busted coverage.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_01]: What have you on that little drag or that he takes for
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_01]: 30 yards or whatever and then he does make some nice plays.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's not enough to sway me from the idea that I'm not sure that he changes how this target tree is spread out.
- 1:11:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's just, I don't think there really is a target tree here.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's like still, it's been waiting to form around Josh Allen, you know, he's looking for the guy.
- 1:11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Without a doubt, there's a, you know, there's the range of outcomes where DJ Moore is falling off.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think when you watch Chicago last year, for whatever reason, he was just a very odd clunky fit for Ben Johnson's offense.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_00]: And it was shown many, many times throughout, and maybe that doesn't really fix itself going to Buffalo.
- 1:11:43[SPEAKER_00]: But I want to, I think I want to leave the light on for him still being like relatively in the, you know,
- 1:11:52[SPEAKER_00]: Even like last year, like Stefan Diggs with Drake May, like, had a good year as a resurrection kind of candid that they are going over a thousand yards, being the top target in his offense, despite only running like 55, 60% of the routes.
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really see a reason why DJ Moore can't be that type of player and he's better with the bonus hands, getting yards and chunks after the catch.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's always been something he's been really, really good at.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think he helped separate the field a little bit.
- 1:12:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not a ton of like really strong logic behind it, but like I don't know, it's been kind of creeping in my mind that DJ Moore is a dude that I want to keep the lights on for for this year in particular, right?
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like an unpalatable price where you need to, you know, try to get him at that third or fourth round price if he's going at the five six turn.
- 1:12:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's worth spreading some chips on him.
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I said, I can see it playing out both ways.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think it's a horrific pic.
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not one that I'm making this here.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_00]: One other backfield I wanted to touch on opposite of the New York Giants because we talked about them.
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_00]: But Minnesota, we had pretty much a clear split between Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not like the fantasy community has had something like really strong takes about this, but we've had a few reports out of camp that like, oh, it looks like it might be Jordan Mason's backfield.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think I was in the large majority last year where I felt like Aaron Jones still showed he had a little bit of juice when he could stay on the field and stay healthy, not not many metrics that actually like back that up.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_00]: He did get the start.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_00]: He looked pretty good in the few carriers that he got.
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be a clear, you know, back and forth situation where I think they go 50-50.
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_00]: And it reminds me a little bit of like a lot of the backfields that we're seeing right now, you know, Washington with JCM and and Rashad White, Jacksonville with two and Chris
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_00]: If you're over-analyzing it to the point where you think you have a strong take on which guys the right guy, you're probably thinking about things a little bit too much, you probably don't have a clear read on the situation.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then it kind of backs itself to, okay, even if I hit on the right dude, what is the upside of the overall offense here?
- 1:13:45[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like,
- 1:13:46[SPEAKER_00]: With Minnesota, if Jordan Mason started rising up draft boards, it's like, yeah, maybe he's the right guy in this backfield.
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_00]: But then it's like my confidence level in Minnesota's offense being good is probably at like a five and a half out of ten.
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Washington's like a six and a half out of ten.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville probably gets to like an eight out of ten.
- 1:14:02[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a lot of these like backfield mixes where we don't really know how it's going to play out.
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the same with Minnesota.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_00]: I just wanted to touch on that because I feel like Aaron Jones has kind of been left for dead and I'm not sure Kevin will kind of really seize it that way.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to split that backfield pretty pretty evenly.
- 1:14:15[SPEAKER_01]: Personally, I'm not taking away anything meaningful from the pre-season deployment and usage, because they get one drive with the starters, and both of them did look good.
- 1:14:29[SPEAKER_01]: Jones bounces out the first run to the outside, and it goes for a first-down, and then Mason has a nice run later on in the drive.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_01]: To me, though, it...
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_01]: Seems kind of random how they were using both back and not something that was reminiscent of what they would do in the regular season.
- 1:14:47[SPEAKER_01]: Perhaps we're wrong because we think of them both being kind of typecast into these roles.
- 1:14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Mason's largely an early-down Russia.
- 1:14:55[SPEAKER_01]: Jones can take some of the rushing work and he'll probably play unpassing downs to some degree.
- 1:15:00[SPEAKER_01]: But in this one, it seemed really random.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_01]: It was like two place for Jones and then two place for Mason.
- 1:15:05[SPEAKER_01]: Three place for Jones and two for Mason.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_01]: It seemed like they were just popping both guys in and out, something like not very similar to what you'd see in actual NFL game.
- 1:15:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not letting, I'm not adjusting my priors on how I thought that this backfield would play out based on what we saw this weekend.
- 1:15:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that kind of just talks to the point though, it's probably a bunch of randomness here that we don't have figured out at this point.
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_00]: We'll have to glean them in the the next couple coming weeks of the preseason, which we will continue to wrap up for you in a similar fashion here.
