- 0:14Enjoy. A mythic Christmas tale
- 0:42prologue. Well, this hasn't gone to plan,
- 0:46thought Santa as his sleigh hurtled through the night sky.
- 0:49The reindeers all appeared to be unconscious after they'd entered
- 0:52what he thought was the portal to North America, and there was
- 0:55no way of stopping the sled on its descent down to the frozen
- 0:58ground below. Just before the impact, Santa
- 1:02called one last desperate time to his deeds to rouse them from
- 1:06their slumber. Groggily, Rudolph lifted his
- 1:09head just in time to swing the team and the sleigh away from
- 1:12the mountain in front of them. The landing, however, was still
- 1:15a nightmare as the reindeers, sleigh, and Santa all hit the
- 1:19ground with tremendous force. Chapter 1 Where am I?
- 1:28Now then. Santa said while.
- 1:31Dragging himself out of a deep snowdrift.
- 1:34Where are those reindeer and mice sled?
- 1:37After 20 minutes of searching, there was still no sign of them.
- 1:41Slightly exasperated, Santa raised his eyes skyward in
- 1:44frustration and gasped. The stars he was looking at were
- 1:47not the stars he knew. What on earth, or not as the
- 1:51case appears to be, is going on here?
- 1:55He exclaimed out loud. Before he could say another
- 1:58word, he felt a point to prod against the base of his spine.
- 2:02Santa froze. He'd made it through enough
- 2:04attempted robberies to know that was a knife he could feel.
- 2:11Chapter 2 for locals. Turn around very slowly.
- 2:16A strange, almost growly voice said.
- 2:19If you try anything I'll split you open and leave you bleeding
- 2:24for the ice lizards to find you. Santa turned slowly around to
- 2:29see her most unusual creature before him.
- 2:32It was about 4 1/2 feet tall and appeared to be covered in fur.
- 2:36A giant talking chipmunk was Santa's first thought, but then
- 2:40he noticed the colouring was more like a skunk.
- 2:43It was at this point that the confusion and mild terror wore
- 2:46off enough for Santa's nostrils to realise the awful odour that
- 2:50they were taking in. Whatever this creature was, it
- 2:53smelt truly dreadful. Who are you?
- 2:56Human. The strange, smelly creature
- 2:58asked. Are you one of those accursed
- 3:01Barbarians following that fool who thinks he's a bear?
- 3:07Or are you a soldier in his idiot brother's army?
- 3:11Your red armour certainly makes you look like you could be.
- 3:15That's not armoury a clone. That's close to keep.
- 3:18The cold out humans don't have the insulation we do.
- 3:22Another creature, similar to the first but different in colour,
- 3:24had appeared from behind the snowdrift.
- 3:26Shut your mouth or I'll bleed you too Thistle tongue.
- 3:32Snarled the first creature. You could train methator.
- 3:35Replied Thistlethorn. We.
- 3:37Both know it wouldn't end well for you though.
- 3:39Cousin. Gentleman, gentlefolk, please
- 3:43calm yourselves. There's no need for violence.
- 3:47Here, said Santa. I'm not sure who you think I am.
- 3:52I assure you I am neither a soldier nor a barbarian.
- 3:57My name is Nicholas, but you may call me Santa if you want.
- 4:02I don't care what your name is, just hand over your coins now.
- 4:08Said Methator. I'm.
- 4:10Afraid I don't have money. Said Santa.
- 4:13I can offer you some cookies though.
- 4:16He said, pulling a bag of sweet smelling goodness from under his
- 4:19coat. Offerings.
- 4:20What are you, some sort of priest?
- 4:23Said Mephitor maybe. He's a God.
- 4:26Said Thistlethorn with a wry smile.
- 4:28This suggestion caused Mephitor to hurriedly take a few steps
- 4:31back from Santa. He'd seen first hand what the
- 4:35Dark Gods could do and wasn't risking anything here.
- 4:39No, I'm not a God. Smiled Santa.
- 4:43I'm just an old man who enjoys bringing joy and handing out
- 4:47presents to all the children of the world.
- 4:50You hand out presents to the young ones.
- 4:54That must be profitable. Said Mephitor, regaining his
- 4:57poise now he thought he wasn't in mortal danger.
- 5:00So you must. Be very rich.
- 5:04Then. His voice raising with
- 5:06excitement. Maybe you're lying.
- 5:08To me about the coins or. Maybe I could?
- 5:12Ransom. You back to your.
- 5:14Family. Oh, I'm not rich.
- 5:19Replied Santa. I give the presents out for free
- 5:22a. Fire free.
- 5:25Exclaimed Mephitor in disbelief. Let's leave this traveller bee.
- 5:30Interrupted Thistlethorn while motioning to Mephitor that he
- 5:33thought the old man was slightly unhinged.
- 5:34He sounds. Like he has lots of work to do
- 5:37giving out the presents. We have a mission to complete,
- 5:40and it's bitterly cold out here tonight, even for fuzz monks.
- 5:44Oh, are you cold? Then let me help.
- 5:47Said Santa. He took a small pouch out from
- 5:50his pocket and threw a handful of what appeared to the fuzz
- 5:53monks to be glowing dust. Down on the ground where it had
- 5:56landed. A roaring fire suddenly
- 5:58appeared. Oh.
- 5:59You're a sorcerer. Said Thistlethorn with a nod.
- 6:03That explains a lot. We really.
- 6:05Can't stop. We're on an important mission.
- 6:09Thank you for the offer though. Maybe we could sit here for a
- 6:13short while. Said Mephitor, sniffing the
- 6:15sweet scent coming from the bag. He had now abandoned the idea of
- 6:19stealing from this human for fear of his magic, but he was
- 6:23very interested in some food. Chapter 3 Bonding.
- 6:31They sat down around the fire, Santa taking care to sit as far
- 6:35away from the foul smelling creature as he could without
- 6:38appearing rude. He handed out cookies to the two
- 6:41fuzz monks and tucked into one himself.
- 6:43So tell me. Asked Santa.
- 6:46What is this important mission you 2 are on?
- 6:50Through crunching teeth, Thistlethorn replied.
- 6:54We were scouting for signs of the pestilent.
- 6:57Thistlethorn. Snapped methadone.
- 6:59We are. Not allowed to tell people.
- 7:03Oh, do be. Quiet.
- 7:05Side Thistle thorn. The dark gods have been
- 7:08destroyed and a great beast has been seen flying over mythos.
- 7:13The world has changed beyond recognition and we need all the
- 7:16help we can get. Quite frankly, if he's out here
- 7:19in the West, he may have seen what we're looking.
- 7:21For please friends call me Nicholas.
- 7:27Said Santa. None of this him business.
- 7:31Santa then paused and fought before speaking.
- 7:34This was all a lot to take in, even for a man thousands of
- 7:37years old. So when you say pestilent, what
- 7:42exactly are you referring to? I can foul.
- 7:45Said Thistlethorn, his tone dropping to almost a whisper, as
- 7:49if the name itself frightened him.
- 7:51There are stories of a great plague affecting the city and
- 7:55its inhabitants being cursed by it.
- 7:57The dead arising from under the earth as well.
- 8:00Interrupted Mephoto. They're.
- 8:02Crusty and Bony and eating brains.
- 8:05They use their own bones as toothpicks as well.
- 8:08Calm down, cousin. Said Thistle phone.
- 8:10All we know at the moment is that something terrible appears
- 8:13to have a befallen Viking fell and its inhabitants.
- 8:17Stories of the Dead Rising may be true, but with Necronominus
- 8:21destroyed, I prefer to think that we won't be fighting
- 8:24skeletons and zombies again. I've seen a lot of strange
- 8:29things over the course of my long life, but I've never heard
- 8:33anyone claim zombies are real. Human history has had fanciful
- 8:37takes on zombies to scare people for centuries, but they're just
- 8:42tales. The.
- 8:43Humans are idiots. Exclaimed Metal.
- 8:46It was their. Incompetence that allowed the
- 8:49Great Hammer to fall in the goggles hands and the Dark Gods
- 8:53to rise again. It was also their skill, bravery
- 8:58and cunning that turned the tide of the war against the dark.
- 9:01Wards, said Thistlethorn. Without them, we would have lost
- 9:06the war and all of us, including you, Methator, would have been
- 9:10destroyed along with the world itself.
- 9:14Give me a fuzz monk or elf or even a weird creature any day
- 9:19over a human. Replied Mephitor.
- 9:22Well, where I'm from there are only humans, but I like them.
- 9:27Said Santa. Where on mythos are there only?
- 9:30Humans. Asked Mephitor with scorn in his
- 9:33voice. Oh, I'm not from your world.
- 9:38Replied Santa. I'm from a world called Earth,
- 9:41and on Earth there are only humans.
- 9:44Thistlethorn stopped eating at this revelation and stared
- 9:47intently at this fat, bearded man sitting on the other side of
- 9:50the fire. What he said made no sense, but
- 9:54all Thistlethorn's instincts were telling him this man was no
- 9:57liar. Another world outside mythos,
- 10:00populated only by humans. Why only humans?
- 10:04Had they eradicated all the other sentient creatures?
- 10:07Was this man actually a threat, despite his appearance and
- 10:10words? Palm your fears, friend.
- 10:12Said Santa. My people are not monsters.
- 10:15Well, most of them aren't. We are just the only advanced
- 10:20species left on Earth. How do you know what I'm
- 10:23thinking? Asked Thistlethorn, moving his
- 10:26hands slowly towards his sword. I can sense feelings.
- 10:31Replied Santa. I can guess from those what you
- 10:34are likely thinking. I mean you absolutely no harm.
- 10:39Thistlethorn pulled away from his sword and relaxed.
- 10:42Mephitor was not relaxed now though, and was holding his
- 10:45dagger tightly. I haven't seen any pestilent
- 10:47peoples, but then I haven't been here very long.
- 10:51Said Santa. That's grand that you haven't
- 10:54seen any. Replied Thistlethorn.
- 10:56If the dead are rising, then Mythos is in great peril as the
- 11:00Northern wastes are rumoured to be home to ancient cities and
- 11:03cultures long since lost you. Know what?
- 11:07Said Mephitor. Oh for goodness sakes, Mephator,
- 11:11were you're not listening to the mages of the convocation.
- 11:14Said the visibly annoyed Thistle phone.
- 11:16Their ancient texts speak of great cities and empires in the
- 11:20Northlands, greater even than any in mythos today.
- 11:24Those cities were lost to the snow and ice long ago, and then
- 11:28inhabitants with them. If those stories are true, and
- 11:32the dead are indeed raising, then we'll be facing an army of
- 11:351,000,000, far greater than Necronominus's.
- 11:39With the losses of Olaf actions suffered in the Great War, we
- 11:43will likely be unable to repel those sorts of numbers,
- 11:47especially since the losses have resulted in power vacuums, new
- 11:50rivalries, and infighting. It's the arguments that will
- 11:55kill us all as sure as the. Pestilent and now visibly
- 11:58worried, Mephitor sat back down. Do you have any more of those
- 12:04cookies? Yeah, Santa.
- 12:06Sweet treats always helped calm him down.
- 12:09Restoring my sleigh. Replied Santa.
- 12:13Maybe you can help me find it and the cookies.
- 12:17I can even find a present or two for each of you as well.
- 12:21Maybe I could have your suit as my present?
- 12:24Ask Nepetal. That looks.
- 12:26Nice and warm. And I don't know how long I'll
- 12:30be up here. Sorry, this suit isn't for
- 12:34giving away. Laughed Santa.
- 12:37There's a lot of other lovely gifts in my sleigh though.
- 12:42Chapter 4 Things get tasty. The three of them began to
- 12:47search through the snowdrifts. It was hard work and there was
- 12:50no sign of the sleigh. Then suddenly they heard a
- 12:53snort, then another. And then another.
- 12:57Out from the darkness came Rudolph and the other reindeers,
- 12:59pulling the sleigh behind them. Mephitor's eyes grew wide.
- 13:04How do? Your pan animals taste.
- 13:07He asked, licking his lips. The cookies were good, but these
- 13:10look tastier still. They're not food, they're my
- 13:13friends. Said Santa, stepping in between
- 13:16the reindeer and the drooling and still really, really smelly
- 13:19fuzz monk. They look like food.
- 13:22To me, Mephitor replied and stepped round Santa, knife
- 13:26poised. It was at this point that
- 13:29Thistle Thorn smiled himself as he saw the look in the eye of
- 13:33the lead animal, the one with the Red Nose.
- 13:35This was not a prey animal that was going to be eaten by
- 13:38Mephitor, it was a fighter. Sure enough, Thistlethorn's
- 13:43instincts proved correct and as Mephitor raised his knife to
- 13:46strike, Rudolph lunged forward and gored the Fuzz Monk's side.
- 13:50The antlers may look blunt, but with force they were nasty.
- 13:54Rudolph threw Mephitor back towards the fire.
- 13:57The Fuzz monk staggered to his feet but then fell as the damage
- 14:00done to him took effect. He looked down to see blood
- 14:03pouring out of a large wound. Using language that would make a
- 14:06goblin blush, he cursed the reindeer that had ended.
- 14:09His life Santa. Sprang into action and motioned
- 14:13to Thistle Thorn to hold his cousin still.
- 14:16Thistle Thorn did as the old man suggested, much to Mephitor's
- 14:19anger. Santa then pulled a sachet from
- 14:22his pocket and sprinkled powder onto the wound.
- 14:26While sprinkling, he cast the Christmas enchantment that it
- 14:29had been taught many millennia ago.
- 14:33To the amazement, and if he was being totally honest,
- 14:36disappointment of Thistle thorn, the wound began to heal before
- 14:40his eyes. It was soon gone, and Mephitor
- 14:42could sense the strength coming back to him.
- 14:44Ah, elf dust. You just can't beat it, can you?
- 14:51Chapter 5 Present Time With the situation now calm, Santa pulled
- 14:57a large bag out of the sleigh. After a good rummage through his
- 15:00enormous sack, he pulled out two presents.
- 15:03The fuzz monks looked bemused as to why the stranger was handing
- 15:06them squares of brightly coloured parchment.
- 15:09Seeing their confusion, Santa said.
- 15:12Their presents for you. Open them and see what you've
- 15:15got. The bemused faces stared blankly
- 15:18at him. Wow, thought Santa.
- 15:20This really is a strange world if they don't know what these
- 15:22are. You open them by pulling the
- 15:24bows. Said Santa.
- 15:27Again, he got blank looks. Let me show you.
- 15:31He said and took another present from his sack and pulled the
- 15:34bows apart. He opened the box within and
- 15:37showed the two fuzz monks a toy horse.
- 15:40The Fuzz Monks. Eagerly pulled their own bows
- 15:42and tore open the boxes. Thistle Thorn founded a small
- 15:46drinking vessel. Very ornate.
- 15:48But solid at the same time. Very useful.
- 15:51Mephitor had a small telescope. While Santa didn't agree with
- 15:55his spying, he did want to give something to Mephitor that would
- 15:58show presents a good things and maybe even warm his cold heart a
- 16:02little. Both Fuzz monks thanked Santa
- 16:04for their gifts while he ate more cookies.
- 16:07Now then. Said Santa.
- 16:08Let's talk about that in fighting, shall we, and how that
- 16:11puts you all in danger. Chapter 6.
- 16:16A plan is born. Santa regaled the Fuzz monks
- 16:20with tales of how his presence had helped diffuse tensions on
- 16:23earth many times over the millennia.
- 16:26Mephotor sat there thinking what an arrogant old git this fat man
- 16:29was, as if he could stop people fighting.
- 16:33Santa finished his stories and then looking directly at,
- 16:36Mephotor said. You see, Mephotor, you and
- 16:40Thistlethorne haven't argued for a good hour now, so the presents
- 16:44and good spirit do work. Thistlethorne chuckled to
- 16:47himself. Mephitol, realising the old fat
- 16:51man was right, was furious but at the same time impressed that
- 16:55it had worked. He couldn't remember ever having
- 16:57gone so long without arguing with or wanting to bestow
- 17:00physical harm to his smug goody goody.
- 17:03Cousin presents may help, but how do we get them to the?
- 17:09People. Asked Thistlethorn.
- 17:11He was beginning to think Santa might be on to something here.
- 17:14I think getting them cookies would also help.
- 17:18Shouted Mephitor, getting extremely excited at the thought
- 17:21of more of these amazing treats. That part.
- 17:24Is easy replied. Santa.
- 17:27Turning to the reindeer, he shouted.
- 17:29Dash away. And the reindeer took flight,
- 17:33pulling the sleigh behind them. After circling the camp several
- 17:36times, they landed with Rudolph looking very happy with himself,
- 17:40almost as if he was showing off to Mephitor.
- 17:42They are very, very fast as well.
- 17:46Said Santa. We can get around your whole
- 17:48world in a few hours. How will?
- 17:51We get the presents to the people though, when we're there.
- 17:54Asked Thistlethorn. Like this?
- 17:58Said Santa. Clicking his fingers and turning
- 18:01into blue mist and zipping lightning fast around the sled.
- 18:05OK, said Thistlethorn. Let's give this a go.
- 18:10But but but the undead. Standard mephitor.
- 18:15What about them? Let's deal with the arguments
- 18:18and in fighting first cousin and then worry what may or may not
- 18:22be coming our way. Replied Thistlethorn.
- 18:25With agreement reached, the first monks climbed on board the
- 18:28Sleigh Mephitor nervously while he kept an eye on a very angry
- 18:32looking Rudolph. Dash, dash.
- 18:34Away yelled. Santa.
- 18:36And the reindeer took to the sky.
- 18:38In only a few minutes they found themselves over the castle of
- 18:41Four Sides. Santa could see below him
- 18:44several groups of figures acting in a very animated manner.
- 18:50Chapter 7. The Arrival.
- 18:53There you go. Said Thistlethorn all.
- 18:58Those wee people are still arguing down there.
- 19:01It's been like this for months. New each day the various.
- 19:05Groups and faction. Leaders come out into the court
- 19:08yard and argue over who now controls which parts of mythos
- 19:12in the Wake and Destruction. The old factions used to control
- 19:15said territories, but that's all fragmented new After the war,
- 19:20lots of lesser groups led by the Sons of the Red Star want lands
- 19:25of their own having helped defeat the evil gods.
- 19:29It's only a matter of time before outright violence breaks
- 19:32out between them all, even old allies.
- 19:36When it does. That will be the end for all of
- 19:39us, if indeed the undead are coming.
- 19:43Well, it's up to us and the spirit of Christmas to make sure
- 19:47that doesn't happen. You 2 Get ready to spread the
- 19:50word. With that, Santa shouted to the
- 19:53reindeer to land. The denizens gathered in the
- 19:56huge courtyard all turned almost as one when they heard bells
- 20:00ring in a strange whooshing sound.
- 20:02They then dived for cover when they saw what was coming their
- 20:05way. Santa landed the sleigh neatly
- 20:08in the centre of the courtyard. He was happy, the reindeer was
- 20:11as accurate as ever, despite the strange adventures of this
- 20:13night. His happiness soon disappeared
- 20:16though, as hundreds of very angry looking humans, orcs,
- 20:19elves, dwarves and numerous other races pulled out their
- 20:22weapons to kill the intruder. The two Fuzz monks leapt out
- 20:26from the sleigh, placed their weapons on the ground and
- 20:28implored everyone to stay calm. The sight of a respected member
- 20:32of the Armies of Light and a foul being disliked by most
- 20:36stating the same thing stopped the scene turning ugly.
- 20:40For now, anyway. Who did this?
- 20:43You book to the sacred castle. Asked the tiller.
- 20:46Are you trying to push the claims of Artemis or Scapula for
- 20:50control of the new? Area of land.
- 20:53If you are. Then my army and my mighty
- 20:56hammer will. Stop you.
- 20:58What a Dick, thought mephitor. Everyone knows us a fake hammer.
- 21:02The. Orcs will not yield to human
- 21:05rule. Growled Vorthog, staring
- 21:08directly at Santa. We didn't free ourselves of
- 21:11Heritage Yoke to be ruled by anyone other than an orc.
- 21:16That's what Queen Irksa would have wanted.
- 21:21Friends, you are all my friends. Please carve yourself.
- 21:27I have not come here to rule over anyone or to take anyone's
- 21:33land. I have simply come to share the
- 21:35Christmas spirit and message of goodwill to all mere beings.
- 21:41Santa quickly corrected himself. Naming one race was not a good
- 21:45idea, he thought. He speaks the.
- 21:47Truth, shouted Thistlethorn. Chapter 8.
- 21:53Presence. It's always about the presence.
- 21:56He brings presents and good food for.
- 22:00All, Exclaimed Mephitor. The talk of good food caused the
- 22:03rumble of appreciative noises from all assembled.
- 22:06The devastation of the Second Great War meant anything vaguely
- 22:09edible was an extremely short supply.
- 22:12Seizing on the positive notes, Thistle, Thorn, and Mephitor
- 22:16took sacks of cookies from the sleigh and began handing them
- 22:19out to everyone. As soon as people took a bite,
- 22:22the mood noticeably changed and smiles began to appear.
- 22:28And now the presence. Declared Santa.
- 22:32With that he grabbed his huge sack and with a flash turned
- 22:35into blue mist, once again darting at the speed barely
- 22:38visible from person to person. Almost as soon as he started, he
- 22:42was stood back alongside the sleigh and everyone looked down
- 22:46to find a box covered in bright parchment in their hands.
- 22:49You open it like this. Shouted a now very excited
- 22:53metal. He proceeded to pull at his bow
- 22:55and then open the box. Go on everyone, it's your turn
- 22:59now. He shouted.
- 23:00Everyone was confused by what was happening and also
- 23:03distracted by the really iffy smell coming from the first
- 23:06monk, but they felt great having eaten a cookie or three, so
- 23:10followed the instructions. Happy murmurs and even gasps
- 23:14spread amongst the group as one by one they open their presents.
- 23:18Mephoto didn't think he had ever seen an orc smile before, he
- 23:21just presumed they couldn't. The gathered throng found some
- 23:25overwhelming urge to show others their present, and dwarf and
- 23:29goblin alike chatted. Wiggly Santa smiled broadly at
- 23:33the sight. You see, my little friends,
- 23:37Christmas magic will always defeat anger.
- 23:40He said to the 2 fuzz monks. Now everyone, what say you all
- 23:45talk about what you will do with your newly saved world together?
- 23:49With those words, the various races, groups, and factions
- 23:53began talking and quickly agreed on a peaceful way forward.
- 23:56They would share what they had saved and vowed to keep Mythos
- 24:00safe. Chapter 9 Time to go.
- 24:07Well my friends, my time here is done.
- 24:10I must return to my own world now.

- 24:16to tonight. Thank you, Nicholas.
- 24:20Said Thistlethorn. Will we see you again?
- 24:24No, alas you won't. But hopefully next winter you
- 24:29will all remember how good this moment felt and bring the same
- 24:33spirit to mythos again. With that, Santa leptin to his
- 24:37sleigh and flew up into the night sky towards a shimmering
- 24:41bright light. And then he was gone.

- 26:26for your help and all your support this year too.
- 26:29Thank you. Did anyone else just see?
- 26:32Santa just what? Bravo, Santa, that.
- 26:38Was all well done? Thank you, patrons.
- 26:41Yes. Thank patrons.
- 26:43Yeah. We love you, Patrons.
- 26:44We love you. Happy New Year.
- 26:46See. You next.

- 26:51everybody. During this festive period.
- 26:53If you drink a little too much like Santa does, occasionally,
- 26:56get an Uber home. Watch out for sleepy surfaces,
- 27:00and if a family member buys you a sharp object, try not to stab
- 27:03anybody. Stay safe.
