- 0:03Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time presented by PrizePix.
- 0:08Speaker 1: My name is Beaumontie Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:10Speaker 1: get your podcasts. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:13Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:16Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:18Speaker 1: a hater. It is Foxworth Friday somewhere. Dominique Fosworth, what's
- 0:24Speaker 1: going on?
- 0:25Speaker 2: What's up, man?
- 0:26Speaker 3: I like the set coming together. Is everything working as usual?
- 0:31Speaker 3: One thing, though, you mentioned the big chair. Like, you
- 0:33Speaker 3: going to keep the big chair?
- 0:33Speaker 1: No, we working on it. We working on it. We
- 0:35Speaker 1: working on it. It's doing me a disservice, man.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. You
- 0:39Speaker 2: on the internet looking 5'5.
- 0:40Speaker 1: No it's the wildest thing we just hadn't considered that
- 0:43Speaker 1: but it's got me looking a little hunchy you know
- 0:46Speaker 1: what i'm saying and what we can't have is people
- 0:48Speaker 1: thinking i'm five five under any circumstance whatsoever i'm like
- 0:52Speaker 1: no no no no no it ain't gonna be that
- 0:54Speaker 1: man we got a lot going on it's an interesting
- 0:57Speaker 1: um nfl week uh as we are recording or or
- 1:01Speaker 1: not as we're recording but by the time we get
- 1:03Speaker 1: finished there'll be a wmba finals game they're playing that
- 1:05Speaker 1: thing in the In the middle of the afternoon, boy.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Where do you go when you win your championship at 2.30?
- 1:12Speaker 1: Apparently where you go is to the practice courts so
- 1:14Speaker 1: they can start getting the court ready before daddy get home.
- 1:18Speaker 3: You can't even spray champagne too aggressively.
- 1:22Speaker 1: They are throwing a party while parents are at work.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And by the time daddy get home, he's like, I
- 1:30Speaker 1: don't care what y'all did. This shit just need to
- 1:32Speaker 1: be clean. When I walk in like that, that's what
- 1:36Speaker 1: this is about to be.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I try to imagine a reason why this is. And
- 1:40Speaker 3: I guess they've already reported on how the process goes,
- 1:43Speaker 3: but it just seems so like so avoidable.
- 1:47Speaker 1: The process seem unavoidable. And to me, and I think
- 1:49Speaker 1: we talked about this before, but right now I think
- 1:51Speaker 1: people got themselves too locked in or the notion or
- 1:54Speaker 1: idea that of playing in that arena and i know
- 1:57Speaker 1: it rocked in all those other games but there's a
- 1:59Speaker 1: world where i could imagine they play it at night
- 2:01Speaker 1: they play it over there by the airport and that
- 2:04Speaker 1: thing is rocking like cameron indoor stadium right like the
- 2:07Speaker 1: people how bad you gotta want it if there's demand
- 2:09Speaker 1: for 17 000 tickets people that get there on the
- 2:12Speaker 1: 3500 is going to be skewed towards your season ticket
- 2:15Speaker 1: holders right like towards your diehards and it's a it's
- 2:19Speaker 1: a it's a do or die Right. Or it's a
- 2:21Speaker 1: it's a must win game six. There we go. Shout
- 2:23Speaker 1: out to my man Shannon. It's a must win, man.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I bet it would be cracking in there. They say
- 2:28Speaker 1: and by the time this comes out, the game will
- 2:32Speaker 1: have happened. I will say this. I am fascinated by
- 2:37Speaker 1: the idea that that city. that has historically had trouble
- 2:41Speaker 1: selling off playoff games of all stripes, and the ones
- 2:45Speaker 1: that really jump out to people are Braves daytime playoff
- 2:49Speaker 1: games when they were running things, and they could not
- 2:52Speaker 1: sell those games out. They say they have sold out
- 2:56Speaker 1: this 17,000-seat arena for this game. And if 17,000 people
- 3:01Speaker 1: show up, I think folks need to understand how Herculean
- 3:06Speaker 1: it is to pull that off. Because, buddy, I can't
- 3:10Speaker 1: think of anything more annoying than trying to drive to
- 3:15Speaker 1: State Farm Arena for 1230 in the afternoon. If you
- 3:19Speaker 1: know anything about traffic in that city, it's some motherfuckers
- 3:25Speaker 1: that ain't going to get there until halftime. Yeah. Like they,
- 3:28Speaker 1: people need to start leaving really early. in order to
- 3:32Speaker 1: make that happen. The Valkyries are up though, right?
- 3:35Speaker 3: So there's no chance that, yeah, there's no chance that
- 3:38Speaker 3: the home team can close it out. But I mean,
- 3:41Speaker 3: I guess there's no way to avoid, if they sold,
- 3:43Speaker 3: I mean, if they did sell out the 17,000, there's
- 3:45Speaker 3: no way to avoid it being, feeling like some type
- 3:48Speaker 3: of slight because they do it in a small place,
- 3:50Speaker 3: it's a slight. If they do it at noon, it's
- 3:53Speaker 3: a slight. It's just, well, there is a way to
- 3:55Speaker 3: do it. It's to plan better on the front end.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but we got a messed up world where people
- 3:59Speaker 1: think it's a slight that you play a game in
- 4:01Speaker 1: your arena Yeah. Like that's where y'all play games. That's
- 4:06Speaker 1: your spot. There should be something like when I went
- 4:09Speaker 1: to school in Carolina, I lived in Durham for 10 years.
- 4:12Speaker 1: There were still people to this day that miss the
- 4:15Speaker 1: good old days of Carmichael.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Right. Like you remember Michael Jordan never played a game
- 4:19Speaker 1: in the Dean Dome. The Dean Dome did not open
- 4:21Speaker 1: until January of 1986.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Right.
- 4:24Speaker 1: There are people that still long for playing those games
- 4:28Speaker 1: in that much smaller arena. There's a thing to it.
- 4:33Speaker 1: The internet got a hold of this, right? And then
- 4:37Speaker 1: it just became, once it got into the outrage machine,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and it turned into all these things. I mean, look,
- 4:44Speaker 1: I thought that removing Caitlin Clark from the equation would
- 4:47Speaker 1: improve the internet discourse, and it has not.
- 4:51Speaker 4: It is.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It is.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And again, this is internet discourse. The whole world might
- 4:55Speaker 1: not sound nearly as crazy as the people that I
- 4:58Speaker 1: have seen talking about this and making TikTok videos and
- 5:01Speaker 1: everything else. I just, I'm glad they don't have the
- 5:06Speaker 1: game at 12 o'clock and I hope that everybody enjoys themselves.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no winning in this situation.
- 5:12Speaker 3: But yeah, they aren't at the point where I guess
- 5:15Speaker 3: the problem is you would expect like the men's professional
- 5:21Speaker 3: teams would have the clout. to kick out whatever is
- 5:24Speaker 3: happening if you got a championship game. They ain't at
- 5:27Speaker 3: that point with that level of clout, and people expect
- 5:29Speaker 3: them to be there, or they didn't anticipate having this option,
- 5:33Speaker 3: so they're in this situation. But no matter what it is,
- 5:36Speaker 3: you're going to find a way to make it something
- 5:38Speaker 3: that we're upset about, to be frank with you. And
- 5:41Speaker 3: I think you're probably similar in this.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I don't talk much about the WNBA because I don't
- 5:45Speaker 2: watch a lot of WNBA.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't watch enough.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I don't.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Then it comes up and it's like, all right, I
- 5:50Speaker 3: got to have an opinion on this.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I mean, it sounds like it sucks. I want them
- 5:54Speaker 2: to win.
- 5:54Speaker 1: They want us to talk about it, but then get
- 5:56Speaker 1: mad when we don't talk about it with the dexterity.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And that's fine. Like, I get it. I realize I'm
- 6:03Speaker 1: not qualified to talk about your basketball. I am qualified
- 6:06Speaker 1: to talk about the other stuff. But you know what?
- 6:08Speaker 1: You want people to talk about the bat. It'll go
- 6:10Speaker 1: take me a long time before I get up. I've
- 6:12Speaker 1: been watching these other games for 40 years. It's going
- 6:15Speaker 1: to take me a long time to get up to
- 6:17Speaker 1: speed and to get there. But I'll say this, man.
- 6:20Speaker 1: If it turns into a game seven, I'm a watch
- 6:22Speaker 1: because that'll be.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Hell yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I watch the significant games of any sport. When stakes
- 6:28Speaker 3: are involved, I will care. I don't think I'm going
- 6:30Speaker 3: to be able to see this 12-30 joint because I'll
- 6:32Speaker 3: be recording my show. You're a member of the workforce. Yeah,
- 6:35Speaker 3: I'll be recording my show at that point. Maybe I'll
- 6:38Speaker 3: give it World Cup treatment. Just put it on the
- 6:40Speaker 3: side screen somewhere and let it rock out while.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I'm doing other things.
- 6:43Speaker 2: NCAA tournament. Oh, absolutely.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Oh, my bad. For the white folks, like the Masters.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I definitely don't cut the Masters on.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I don't cut the Masters on until Sunday. Oh, man.
- 6:58Speaker 1: But, you know, like the NCAA app. Because, you know,
- 7:00Speaker 1: the thing about the Masters is it's the most perfectly
- 7:02Speaker 1: run sporting event there is. And their digital game is
- 7:05Speaker 1: stronger than everybody else's. They got like a whole production
- 7:09Speaker 1: bunker on the grounds. Very, very we're the richest people
- 7:12Speaker 1: in the world kind of setup. That's what they got.
- 7:15Speaker 1: But if I'm not mistaken, the app for March Madness–
- 7:19Speaker 1: That let people pop in and watch all the stuff?
- 7:21Speaker 1: That's the Masters app. They was the OGs on that.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So the people that sit at work and pop in,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and then that button that'll put a spreadsheet up on
- 7:29Speaker 1: your shit in case the boss pull up over your shoulder.
- 7:33Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? I didn't know about that one.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I mean, that's a different type of workforce where I
- 7:37Speaker 3: could reasonably argue that this is part of my job.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I don't need to do that. Right, right, right.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Nobody has to hide at ESPN that you're over here
- 7:44Speaker 1: watching the Masters.
- 7:45Speaker 3: They'd be mad if you got a spreadsheet up. You
- 7:48Speaker 3: got that spreadsheet up when the Masters is on.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Pay attention.
- 7:51Speaker 2: You know?
- 7:52Speaker 1: We got some NFL action. The Baltimore Ravens are playing
- 7:56Speaker 1: against the— Buffalo Bills, and on one hand, this could
- 8:01Speaker 1: be very unpleasant because it turned into Magic versus Bird.
- 8:07Speaker 1: You understand what I'm saying? It gets real. Hatfield-McCoy, the
- 8:14Speaker 1: feud that I don't think either of the two quarterbacks
- 8:17Speaker 1: are involved in, but it's there.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Definitely not. Right?
- 8:20Speaker 1: Counterpoint, who knows if Lamar Jackson's going to play? I
- 8:24Speaker 1: feel like he's probably going to play because he just
- 8:25Speaker 1: went through a full practice. on uh wednesday i am
- 8:31Speaker 1: i'm curious your read because mine is those guys like
- 8:35Speaker 1: him michael vick was very similarly like these sports cars
- 8:39Speaker 1: they don't like to go out there at 80 they
- 8:41Speaker 1: don't like to go out there at 90 like he
- 8:43Speaker 1: felt like he don't know how to do it unless
- 8:45Speaker 1: he's going out there at 100 except for that's not
- 8:48Speaker 1: how this job uh normally works and Unlike others in
- 8:53Speaker 1: his position, Lamar Jackson uses every bit of leverage that
- 8:56Speaker 1: he has, which leads to a situation we saw with
- 8:59Speaker 1: the previous coach, and we see continue with this coach,
- 9:01Speaker 1: where they don't never know what he about to do.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the part is, to me, there are some things,
- 9:08Speaker 3: and it's hard to have these conversations about Lamar Jackson
- 9:13Speaker 3: and the Ravens for a couple reasons for me.
- 9:15Speaker 2: One, because I play for the Ravens.
- 9:17Speaker 3: So there's this expectation that I'll say something I'll be
- 9:22Speaker 3: like more protective of that team or that I have
- 9:25Speaker 3: insights that other people don't have, which neither are particularly true.
- 9:29Speaker 3: And then it's also hard because anything that you, any
- 9:33Speaker 3: uniqueness that you point out about the way that Lamar
- 9:36Speaker 3: approaches it, it's like, viewed as a criticism, which is
- 9:39Speaker 3: not always meant as a criticism. It's an observation. And, like,
- 9:42Speaker 3: there are pros and cons to the way anybody goes
- 9:45Speaker 3: about doing anything. And the way that Lamar goes about
- 9:48Speaker 3: managing his career is different.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Like, it's just been different.
- 9:52Speaker 3: And, like, I got, I mean, I use the word
- 9:54Speaker 3: heat because that's the best word I can come up with. But, like,
- 9:57Speaker 3: I got some heat over the off season for bringing
- 9:59Speaker 3: up how differently he's gone about his contract situation relative
- 10:03Speaker 3: to other quarterbacks of his skillset.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Then you start putting all these things together and.
- 10:07Speaker 3: You're like, all of them can be explained easily individually,
- 10:11Speaker 3: but you put them all together and it's like more
- 10:14Speaker 3: concerning than you would want it to be. And then
- 10:16Speaker 3: you put on top of it, the bird verse magic
- 10:19Speaker 3: of it all.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Then it's a whole nother complicating factor.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Then you remember like only one of these quarterbacks said like, uh,
- 10:26Speaker 3: trust Trump and it's even more complicated. So it's like, look, man,
- 10:31Speaker 3: I feel y'all stick to sports. This is what a
- 10:33Speaker 3: place of ball.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I will just point out that the time that he
- 10:38Speaker 1: has been out with this high ankle sprain is about
- 10:42Speaker 1: the time that you're supposed to be out with a
- 10:45Speaker 1: high ankle sprain. I think it has been the reasonable
- 10:49Speaker 1: time away. I would also like to point out that
- 10:52Speaker 1: when he has played, he's probably been the best quarterback
- 10:56Speaker 1: in the NFL this year. I think he has become
- 11:00Speaker 1: an underrated player. at this point. There will be those
- 11:04Speaker 1: postseason questions to ask, but the last time we saw
- 11:07Speaker 1: him really put in a full season, he threw 41
- 11:09Speaker 1: touchdowns against four interceptions, and he's supposed to be the
- 11:12Speaker 1: guy that can't play from the pocket. Right? It's unreal
- 11:16Speaker 1: how good he is, and he's got guys to throw to, right?
- 11:20Speaker 1: They've set him up pretty well in terms of who
- 11:22Speaker 1: there is. I do think, looking at what's happening in
- 11:24Speaker 1: New York, he wouldn't mind having Likely back, because I
- 11:26Speaker 1: think Mark Andrews is about at the end of the road,
- 11:28Speaker 1: but he's... When he's played, he's been very, very, very good.
- 11:34Speaker 1: The way it went last week, I think was just
- 11:37Speaker 1: a bad look for everybody involved.
- 11:41Speaker 3: And it wasn't just, so your point is fair, but
- 11:44Speaker 3: it wasn't just last week and it wasn't just this season.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Like the, what seems to be happening repeatedly is like,
- 11:51Speaker 3: even if you talk to the insiders, like they'll tell
- 11:55Speaker 3: you like everyone in the building thinks he's going to play.
- 11:59Speaker 3: or they think he's going to practice. And then he
- 12:02Speaker 3: decides to practice or play and people are surprised. So like,
- 12:06Speaker 3: I think that's the part is he holds the keys
- 12:11Speaker 3: in a way that football players normally don't. And this
- 12:13Speaker 3: again is like, I don't mean it as a criticism.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I mean it as an observation. This is not something
- 12:19Speaker 3: that is normally football. And I think I talked about
- 12:21Speaker 3: his contract situation in the back and saying it's very,
- 12:24Speaker 3: I mean, in the past saying it's very NBA style
- 12:27Speaker 3: and that it's, I'm gonna hold this.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I'm not committing to anything. I'm gonna hold all the leverage.
- 12:32Speaker 2: That's not like you.
- 12:33Speaker 3: See Mahomes and Allen, comparable quarterbacks, they sign an extension
- 12:37Speaker 3: as soon as it's possible to sign the extension, and
- 12:39Speaker 3: they commit to it. And then any information about them,
- 12:43Speaker 3: about their injury stuff, comes out through the team. And
- 12:46Speaker 3: the team knows when the insiders hear from someone in
- 12:49Speaker 3: the organization he's going to play, they know he's going
- 12:52Speaker 3: to play. Or they hear it's up in the air,
- 12:54Speaker 3: they don't know. It's just been different, whereas... you can't
- 12:59Speaker 3: call the team or call whoever the insiders contacts are,
- 13:03Speaker 3: which I'm sure is on management side and get, the
- 13:06Speaker 3: honest answer.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Because they don't know and.
- 13:08Speaker 3: That's the unique part about Lamar versus I mean I
- 13:12Speaker 3: don't say these other quarterbacks but every other football player
- 13:15Speaker 3: really except for maybe a couple of receivers like most
- 13:18Speaker 3: of the time the players in football we talk about
- 13:21Speaker 3: how it's the most conservative sport and militaristic like we
- 13:25Speaker 3: all are soldiers quarterbacks are like a little higher ranked
- 13:27Speaker 3: than the rest of us but normally they fall in
- 13:30Speaker 3: line in a way that Lamar just like I ain't.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Doing that yeah this is the no agent part.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah I think that's part of it. There's pros and
- 13:37Speaker 2: cons to that.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah, because part of what the agent is, the agent
- 13:40Speaker 1: is Team Lamar. However, the agent would also kind of
- 13:44Speaker 1: be like, hey, man, I don't think this week. I
- 13:48Speaker 1: know what he's– I'm just telling you, I wouldn't.
- 13:50Speaker 3: You hire– and I tell this to young guys who are–
- 13:55Speaker 3: which I guess no more.
- 13:57Speaker 2: They get agents even sooner now.
- 13:59Speaker 3: But the young guys who are selecting the agent is like, yes,
- 14:02Speaker 3: you're paying the agent, and yes, he works for you.
- 14:04Speaker 3: But he's been in the league for a long time,
- 14:06Speaker 3: and the relationships that he's developed are real relationships that
- 14:09Speaker 3: matter to him. He would rather preserve those relationships for
- 14:14Speaker 3: a long time because he's going to keep working with
- 14:15Speaker 3: those people more than yours. So that's the benefit of
- 14:19Speaker 3: Lamar having a unique agent structure is he doesn't have
- 14:21Speaker 3: to worry about that at all. The drawback is communication
- 14:24Speaker 3: is going to be a little bit– like stilted and
- 14:27Speaker 3: that's what we're getting right now so he doesn't have
- 14:29Speaker 3: a traditional agent he has all the power in a
- 14:31Speaker 3: way that a traditional agent probably wouldn't set it up
- 14:34Speaker 3: because they would talk to their gm buddies and be
- 14:36Speaker 3: like all right we're gonna get it done but we're
- 14:38Speaker 3: in a situation where things the communication connection to the
- 14:42Speaker 3: people who who spread the information like all that stuff
- 14:45Speaker 3: is skewed away from him because it's an it's like
- 14:48Speaker 3: an untraditional way to go about it.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I'd also like to point out it's a really important game,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I would argue, for them. If they lose to go
- 14:56Speaker 1: to 4-4, which is not the worst record you could have,
- 14:58Speaker 1: but they are currently last in their division. It's a
- 15:03Speaker 1: lot going on in that division, but this is also
- 15:06Speaker 1: different when you play against Buffalo. That's the other part, too.
- 15:09Speaker 1: This is a game that you would want to have,
- 15:11Speaker 1: and you're not going to beat Buffalo with Snoop Huntley
- 15:16Speaker 1: offensive output. It's just not going to happen. Y'all need
- 15:18Speaker 1: some points. Yeah. And they need to do it out
- 15:21Speaker 1: there to put up some points.
- 15:23Speaker 3: You can't beat Cincinnati with that offensive output. You couldn't
- 15:27Speaker 3: beat Cleveland with that offensive output. You got one over
- 15:30Speaker 3: on Atlanta, but that was a little bit closer than
- 15:34Speaker 3: I think you anticipated. But yeah, last year they started
- 15:37Speaker 3: out in a deep hole, but they also didn't have
- 15:40Speaker 3: the bangles to contend with. And they've got all the
- 15:43Speaker 3: way back to last year being, like, honestly, kick or
- 15:46Speaker 3: make a kick, they're in the playoffs. But they got
- 15:49Speaker 3: all the way back. So this year the hole's not
- 15:50Speaker 3: as steep, but the competition is steeper.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and that 35 points that Cincinnati put on them
- 15:57Speaker 1: in the second half leads me to the real– like
- 16:00Speaker 1: I say, they need points.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 1: 44. Now, Humphrey.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Marlon.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Hey, hey, hey. Look, I talk about this all the time, boy.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:10Speaker 1: It's a little different now that the schemes are a
- 16:12Speaker 1: little more sophisticated in the NFL. But back in the day,
- 16:14Speaker 1: we all remember that corner that couldn't cover. We all
- 16:16Speaker 1: remember that corner that was getting fired up. It doesn't
- 16:18Speaker 1: matter how long you were in that corner that was
- 16:20Speaker 1: getting fired up, but they're going to remember this 2026
- 16:22Speaker 1: version of Marlon Humphrey for a long time because they
- 16:25Speaker 1: fired his ass up. That's bad, bad news.
- 16:28Speaker 2: We all remember that corner.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Some of us have been that corner before and you
- 16:33Speaker 3: can bounce back from it and be the other type
- 16:35Speaker 3: of corner at some point. But yeah, like it's the
- 16:37Speaker 3: toughest job, like physically on the field to like play consistently.
- 16:42Speaker 3: You can get lucky and things can work out in
- 16:44Speaker 3: your favor, but yeah, it's really hard to play corner
- 16:47Speaker 3: at a high level, especially when, as you get older.
- 16:50Speaker 3: And so you find defensive ways to, to protect them.
- 16:53Speaker 3: But this is one of the reasons why the bangles
- 16:56Speaker 3: are such a tough matchup because what they were doing
- 16:58Speaker 3: was doubling away from, from Higgins. They were in leaving
- 17:02Speaker 3: Wiggins on Higgins manned up and doubling chase. So in
- 17:06Speaker 3: the second half, when you have that, you can't protect everybody.
- 17:10Speaker 3: When you got two guys like that, you can't protect everybody.
- 17:12Speaker 3: It's a wonder that the bangles can't run the ball
- 17:14Speaker 3: to showing how much they're able to threaten secondaries. But, Yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 3: it's a tough spot to be in for Marlon Humphrey.
- 17:20Speaker 3: And he's he like makes it worse for himself.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Did he do something Trumpy?
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he did.
- 17:27Speaker 3: He like he went to Sparrows Point, I think, in
- 17:30Speaker 3: Baltimore and rode in the car with Trump and was
- 17:33Speaker 3: like celebrating some some jobs.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Coming to the area. And then then responded.
- 17:43Speaker 3: To some questions about it, where the only thing I
- 17:46Speaker 3: could see as he was talking was it just looked
- 17:48Speaker 3: like somebody's trying to run on ice. Mm-hmm. I was
- 17:51Speaker 3: just like.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Oh, I remember that.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he was all over the place, and it just
- 17:55Speaker 2: made it even worse.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Hey, did Trump say anything about his keister? And I
- 17:58Speaker 1: feel like... Oh, probably. Like, I don't know if Marlon
- 18:02Speaker 1: got any pride in his keister, but I feel like
- 18:04Speaker 1: at this point, if you meet Trump and he don't
- 18:05Speaker 1: say nothing about your keister, isn't that kind of like
- 18:07Speaker 1: an insult?
- 18:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you're being... I mean.
- 18:11Speaker 3: That's a surprise that he switched and became a butt guy.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Yeah, ass man.
- 18:16Speaker 3: About everybody. About everybody. And I got to be fair, like,
- 18:22Speaker 3: I don't often... comment on everybody's butt but as an
- 18:27Speaker 3: athlete it's an important thing i'm gonna notice i mean
- 18:31Speaker 3: you're a man or a woman i'm see if you
- 18:33Speaker 3: can run whether you are here for whatever reason i
- 18:36Speaker 3: want to know if.
- 18:36Speaker 1: You can run explosive see if you got that burst.
- 18:40Speaker 3: It's like it's it's not even a choice like you
- 18:42Speaker 3: walk by it clicks in my mind you got no
- 18:45Speaker 3: speed you got no explosion right.
- 18:47Speaker 1: There i read uh bruce Bruce Feldman's book about 20
- 18:50Speaker 1: years ago called Meat Market. It was a book about
- 18:52Speaker 1: a season of Ole Miss recruiting, and that was when
- 18:54Speaker 1: I first learned about it's a very important thing in
- 18:57Speaker 1: recruiting and all of this. All eyes on that keister.
- 19:01Speaker 1: All eyes on that keister, and you boys value big heads.
- 19:05Speaker 1: A lot. Like a dude with a big head and
- 19:06Speaker 1: a fat ass, man. You're a first-round pick.
- 19:09Speaker 2: And small ankles. Small ankles. That's right. You got to
- 19:11Speaker 2: have small ankles, big ass.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 2: A nice head. That's what it hit, though, I think.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Or the projection of where your body is going to be.
- 19:20Speaker 2: That sort of stuff. Nobody was worried about my cranial size.
- 19:24Speaker 3: I told you the story before about how a scout...
- 19:28Speaker 3: my dad lost it a scout when i was a
- 19:31Speaker 3: junior in high school at a combine was talking to
- 19:33Speaker 3: my dad it's like a combine it's like yeah the
- 19:36Speaker 3: boy got good hips and uh on the ride home
- 19:40Speaker 3: he was like you ain't going there i was like
- 19:43Speaker 3: dad he mean that like i can turn and move
- 19:45Speaker 3: i don't know what he mean.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Man talk about you got nice hips.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Like no i mean that i can turn and pivot
- 19:54Speaker 3: oh okay.
- 19:55Speaker 1: No man trump he said that one man had a
- 19:58Speaker 1: keister full of muscle he broke back out the the
- 20:01Speaker 1: arnold palmer thing yeah you.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Know It's a strategy. Or is it? I don't know
- 20:08Speaker 2: anymore at this point.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I don't know what anything is. Like, there's an election
- 20:11Speaker 1: next week. Like, that's the part that hit me.
- 20:13Speaker 2: That election.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Like, I'm probably going to go in and drop my
- 20:17Speaker 1: joint in on the way home. It's an election next week.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And every time I see that man out there, he
- 20:24Speaker 1: talked about it. Now, Nicki Minaj's key story he talked about. And, boy,
- 20:27Speaker 1: let me tell you, they better watch out. Because, you know,
- 20:30Speaker 1: Trump has this thing where he's weirded out by plastic surgery.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Which is to say that he don't know that she
- 20:36Speaker 1: got a prosthesis. Oh. He don't know that that's synthetic keister.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I don't think that Trump knows that there's such a
- 20:45Speaker 1: thing as synthetic keister.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, he have to realize that evolution don't
- 20:52Speaker 3: work that fast.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but we got to remember, man.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Maybe he don't be looking.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Maybe he don't be looking, but God knows the assumptions
- 20:59Speaker 1: that Trump makes about us as a people.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Yeah. You know what I'm saying? But I mean- It
- 21:03Speaker 2: ain't just us.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I know. I know. I know. But I'm just saying it.
- 21:07Speaker 1: But that one that Nicki Minaj told up there on
- 21:10Speaker 1: that stage. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I bet he spent the
- 21:14Speaker 1: whole ride home like, yo, did you see that?
- 21:17Speaker 2: I bet she fast.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 2: That's a 4-3.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I just want to know on their end of things
- 21:22Speaker 1: who they think about to vote for them. Because Nicki
- 21:32Speaker 1: Minaj pulled up. Right? And by the way, I don't...
- 21:39Speaker 1: I saw a little bit of like when she first
- 21:41Speaker 1: came to the stage, that is not an audience that
- 21:44Speaker 1: was like itching to see Nicki Minaj.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I mean, I guess I.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Just assume that Nicki Minaj, like hip hop in general
- 21:51Speaker 3: is like pretty universal. So like the music people recognize
- 21:54Speaker 3: in any time you can stand close to somebody cool,
- 21:58Speaker 3: it makes you feel cool. I'm not saying Nicki Minaj
- 22:01Speaker 3: is cool. I'm saying that they, that for those people,
- 22:05Speaker 3: they're like, Oh man, I guess we cool.
- 22:07Speaker 2: I don't know what the strategy is.
- 22:09Speaker 1: On one hand, I hear you. On the other hand,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I don't know how much attention you've been paying the
- 22:14Speaker 1: last 10 years or so to the M.O. of the
- 22:18Speaker 1: whole Mad Guy. You understand what I'm saying? But I
- 22:21Speaker 1: don't think those people are like, ooh, a rapper's here,
- 22:23Speaker 1: now we feel cool. I just don't feel like that's
- 22:25Speaker 1: the proper group of people.
- 22:27Speaker 2: On that one. That's fair. I mean, I think a
- 22:30Speaker 2: lot of their cool is.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Is being in opposition of like what is like the coolness,
- 22:38Speaker 3: which to me kind of feels like they want to
- 22:41Speaker 3: be in the cool. So they see Nicki Minaj, who
- 22:44Speaker 3: like is no longer like, in the heart of what
- 22:48Speaker 3: is cool, but they still think like, ah. But I mean,
- 22:51Speaker 3: to your point, I don't know who's changing their mind
- 22:53Speaker 3: or who's getting up and going out to vote because
- 22:55Speaker 3: Nicki Minaj is on stage.
- 22:56Speaker 1: They think it's a black person that liked them. And
- 22:59Speaker 1: for whatever reason, man, that'd be making them feel good.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Like deep down inside, they look at each other and
- 23:04Speaker 1: they kind of like, damn, it's really just us, huh? Shit. Okay.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Like on one level, that's exactly what they want. But
- 23:12Speaker 1: there's a part of them that recognize something wrong with that.
- 23:15Speaker 3: But isn't that like the Latino vote? From what I've
- 23:19Speaker 3: been reading in the polls, I know we can't always
- 23:21Speaker 3: trust the polls, but it's swinging back in opposition. But
- 23:25Speaker 3: if they was looking around and said, it's just us,
- 23:28Speaker 3: then the Latino vote came over and they was like,
- 23:30Speaker 3: you know what?
- 23:31Speaker 2: How can we fuck this up?
- 23:33Speaker 1: Maybe. Let me tell you about these polls, boy.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I mean, believe it when I see it bold on everything.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 23:40Speaker 3: They.
- 23:42Speaker 1: They got people thinking that Mississippi can play? Mississippi, forget
- 23:46Speaker 1: about talking about Texas and these other places. They got, like,
- 23:51Speaker 1: I feel like Lucy pulled that football away several times. Well,
- 23:57Speaker 1: not Mississippi. They ain't even bothered to try to tell
- 23:59Speaker 1: that lie.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I mean, Texas, that's the historic one that they believe in.
- 24:03Speaker 1: That's the.
- 24:05Speaker 3: You believe it's possible, I believe it when I see it.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the one right there that's kind of like.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I believe it when I see it.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Because they make a solid argument that, like, I could
- 24:15Speaker 3: understand how people could... So the opposition is just absurd. Like,
- 24:20Speaker 3: you can't... I get why no one would think that
- 24:23Speaker 3: it's possible that people could elect a person who's, like,
- 24:26Speaker 3: been accused of the things.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Or not been accused of, but found.
- 24:30Speaker 3: to have been involved and make some pretty terrible decisions.
- 24:33Speaker 2: But then they make it about, you know what?
- 24:35Speaker 3: Maybe he's a bad guy, but do you want your
- 24:38Speaker 3: country to go this way?
- 24:39Speaker 2: It's like, all right.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Yeah. Like, I have a hard time imagining it. I
- 24:46Speaker 3: read a piece saying that Kansas might go.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Like, no way. Kansas ain't going nowhere. Yeah, it's the one.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of those, like, you can't be
- 24:53Speaker 1: serious states pop up.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Yeah, stop it, man.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Bruh. Bruh. Mississippi is still the one where I'm lying.
- 25:00Speaker 1: You just think they're going to let it happen?
- 25:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Right?
- 25:04Speaker 1: Like, if it's really like that, let me tell you,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you're going to start hearing about road closers, power outages
- 25:11Speaker 1: in very concentrated sort of areas. But to boil the
- 25:15Speaker 1: story and to tie it back to sports is Trump
- 25:17Speaker 1: missed his calling as a football scout where he could
- 25:19Speaker 1: go look at Keister all day long and just say
- 25:22Speaker 1: that that was what he was supposed to do. And
- 25:24Speaker 1: you see who it was? I think it was Jamie
- 25:25Speaker 1: Foxx who told the story. about, or it was Kevin Hart.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. It was Jamie Foxx. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:31Speaker 1: About Ray Lewis. Yeah, yeah. He tells this story about
- 25:34Speaker 1: he's out with somebody and some dude said that he
- 25:36Speaker 1: could run a 4-3-40. And Jamie Foxx, and by the way,
- 25:39Speaker 1: what a lie. I just don't think people understand what
- 25:42Speaker 1: a lie. If you could run a 4-3-40, you wouldn't
- 25:44Speaker 1: be telling us. You'd be providing video. But anyway, he
- 25:47Speaker 1: gets kept saying, he said he ran a 4-3-40. And
- 25:49Speaker 1: to challenge this, Jamie Foxx decided to call Ray Lewis.
- 25:52Speaker 1: And Ray Lewis said, you got a big ass. And
- 25:55Speaker 1: he said, no, he ain't run no 4-3-40. That was it. And,
- 25:59Speaker 1: of course, for Jamie Foxx, this is like craziness that
- 26:03Speaker 1: he's hearing. But for those of us with the familiarity
- 26:05Speaker 1: around the game, nope. That's all he needed to do
- 26:09Speaker 1: was go look at that keister right fast. And he's like, nope.
- 26:11Speaker 2: That's it.
- 26:12Speaker 3: I can tell you if you got a chance or not.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I can tell you right off the top if you
- 26:14Speaker 3: got a chance or not. Maybe you don't turn it
- 26:17Speaker 3: over fast enough. But I can tell you that if
- 26:20Speaker 3: you sub, you're going to be sub five if you're
- 26:23Speaker 3: if you got small, like long calves, like long calves,
- 26:27Speaker 3: because people think you want the chunky calves. Like that's
- 26:29Speaker 3: where all the power come from. Ain't no fast person.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Go watch the Olympics. No fast person ever got no
- 26:34Speaker 3: big calves, but they all, all of them, Big asses
- 26:38Speaker 3: sit up high. That's where the engine at, man. If
- 26:42Speaker 3: you show me a corner, I'll let you know right
- 26:44Speaker 3: off the bat if he going to be a cover
- 26:46Speaker 3: two corner or not.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Coming up next, big trade to the NFL. I don't
- 26:52Speaker 1: think Dominique even know about it. I'm going to get
- 26:54Speaker 1: to tell him. Prize picks packs are here. Now you

- 28:24Speaker 4: if you win your first $ 5 lineup. Let's look to
- 28:27Speaker 4: an AFC North matchup. Cleveland taking on Pittsburgh. Deshaun Watson's
- 28:31Speaker 4: projection is set at 206.5 passing yards. Bo, what are
- 28:36Speaker 4: you expecting in this matchup?
- 28:37Speaker 1: I mean, I have to say, while he has been
- 28:39Speaker 1: playing well, there's a lot of potential for a nasty
- 28:42Speaker 1: game here. I would go less a nasty outcome for
- 28:48Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson.
- 28:48Speaker 4: It's just so bizarre because... It's been a nasty three
- 28:51Speaker 4: quarters in every game.
- 28:53Speaker 1: It has.
- 28:53Speaker 4: But that fourth quarter.
- 28:55Speaker 2: It has.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But I tell you this. He looked like D nasty
- 28:59Speaker 1: in the previous game. Over 300 yards. Played really well.
- 29:03Speaker 1: But this week, nasty for D.
- 29:05Speaker 4: All right. Thanks again to PrizePix. Use code BOMANI to
- 29:08Speaker 4: join the action.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Your equipment just broke down. Or you landed a big order,
- 29:13Speaker 1: but you got to buy the inventory before the customer
- 29:15Speaker 1: pays you. Two completely different problems. Same issue. You need
- 29:20Speaker 1: money now, and the traditional bank wants six weeks of paperwork.
- 29:24Speaker 1: That's where Cardiff comes in. Their application takes about three minutes,
- 29:28Speaker 1: there's no impact on your personal credit just to apply,
- 29:31Speaker 1: and they can provide up to $ 500, 000 in same day funding.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Approval in minutes, funding same day. And if a friend
- 29:39Speaker 1: of mine was running a business and needed capital fast,
- 29:42Speaker 1: that's the part I'd point them to. When an opportunity
- 29:45Speaker 1: is sitting in front of you, waiting around can cost you.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Cardiff has funded more than $ 12 billion to small businesses nationwide.
- 29:54Speaker 1: To qualify, you need to have been in business for
- 29:56Speaker 1: at least one year and doing at least $ 20, 000 a
- 29:59Speaker 1: month in revenue. If that's you, go to cardiff.co slash trt.
- 30:06Speaker 1: That's cardiff.co slash trt. Real growth, fast funding.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Cardiff.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Borrow better. All right, we are back with Dominique Foxworth.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Great news for Jeff Simmons.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Yes.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Formerly of the Tennessee Titans.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Congratulations. Where are you going? Chicago. That's awesome.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Big news for golf. Big news for Jeff Simmons, who,
- 30:33Speaker 1: if you don't know, is, and I'm not exaggerating, the
- 30:36Speaker 1: one good player on the Titans.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Is there another one?
- 30:39Speaker 1: I don't feel like I'm missing anybody. I mean, does
- 30:42Speaker 1: Tony Pollard count as a good player?
- 30:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 3: I mean, there are guys that in other situations could
- 30:48Speaker 3: be useful. But, I mean, Jeff Simmons is the only
- 30:51Speaker 3: difference maker, really, on that team.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:53Speaker 1: So now he is going to Chicago. Chicago's trying to
- 30:57Speaker 1: do it, man, because, hey, that Caleb Williams return was impressive.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I thought last year we were trying a little bit
- 31:07Speaker 1: too hard to make the thing a thing about his play.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I didn't think he was bad, but I was like,
- 31:14Speaker 1: the numbers aren't really supporting a lot of what this
- 31:17Speaker 1: is that's being discussed. Nah, man, he looked, the two
- 31:21Speaker 1: games that I have seen him play in full, he
- 31:24Speaker 1: has looked like a beast, and they've scored a gajillion points.
- 31:28Speaker 1: They got to go take it into Seattle on Monday night, though,
- 31:31Speaker 1: this week.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going to learn something about them against Seattle.
- 31:34Speaker 3: But the Simmons, so first of all, the Simmons thing's huge,
- 31:36Speaker 3: changed the defense. Everything that Dennis Allen does is predicated
- 31:40Speaker 3: on having a pretty dominant front, which they haven't had
- 31:44Speaker 3: in a while, so they've been trying to, like coach
- 31:47Speaker 3: around those deficiency. Jeffrey Simmons is one of the five,
- 31:51Speaker 3: 10 best guys at that position in the league. So
- 31:54Speaker 3: he's going to make an immediate impact as for the
- 31:56Speaker 3: offense and Caleb.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I think you're right. Last year, a lot of the,
- 31:59Speaker 2: it was just, we thought he was going to be
- 32:02Speaker 2: great off the bat. He struggled.
- 32:04Speaker 3: And then last year he gave us a bunch of
- 32:05Speaker 3: wild plays and the team was really good. And we
- 32:08Speaker 3: saw that there was potential because of things that he
- 32:11Speaker 3: was struggling with were much easier than the things that,
- 32:14Speaker 3: he could do well. And to your point, like now
- 32:17Speaker 3: he's doing last week, he came in, he's doing the
- 32:19Speaker 3: easier stuff a little bit better. And it hasn't cost
- 32:22Speaker 3: him the like magic on the other end that we
- 32:25Speaker 3: were reminded when Ben Johnson had to back up quarterback
- 32:29Speaker 3: for a little bit that, oh yeah, you can do something,
- 32:31Speaker 3: but there's another level that you might need to reach
- 32:34Speaker 3: that can bail you out of some tough situations when
- 32:36Speaker 3: you have the talent of somebody like Caleb.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Is any other team in the league matching the cocky
- 32:41Speaker 1: sum bitch factor of head coach and Ben Johnson and
- 32:45Speaker 1: quarterback Caleb Williams. Offensive-minded head coach Ben Johnson, just to
- 32:49Speaker 1: be clear.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Nobody's beating what Ben Johnson has. Caleb gives you this.
- 32:56Speaker 3: It's definitely cocky, but it's like it's the Aaron Rodgers cocky,
- 33:00Speaker 3: the old school Aaron Rodgers cocky before it started to
- 33:03Speaker 3: get annoying. And you can see it headed in that direction.
- 33:07Speaker 3: But Ben Johnson is a different it's like the more
- 33:10Speaker 3: original raw. Like, I don't care what you think of me.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Whereas Caleb is to me, it feels like he's always
- 33:15Speaker 3: aware of how what he's saying is going to be interpreted.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Ben Johnson, like, I don't give a fuck. I kind
- 33:22Speaker 2: of love it.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Hey sticking in this division are you looking forward to
- 33:27Speaker 1: the first loss of the season for the Minnesota Vikings?
- 33:31Speaker 3: Yeah, the Vikings schedule about to start getting a little harder.
- 33:34Speaker 3: But that defense going up against the Honolulu Blue.
- 33:37Speaker 2: As you call them.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Hey, hey, hey, man. The Honolulu Blue been killing it
- 33:41Speaker 1: this year. Killing it. The thing about it is Jerry
- 33:43Speaker 1: Goff is a little bit prone to panic. And they
- 33:46Speaker 1: coming for him. Hey, man, that man ain't throwing interception
- 33:48Speaker 1: all year. I would just also like to note that
- 33:50Speaker 1: ESPN Analytics says that America's team, the Detroit Lions, has
- 33:54Speaker 1: a 55% chance at victory in this game.
- 33:58Speaker 3: I think that is good analytics. I would say that
- 34:02Speaker 3: they have not been killing it. Their offense has been
- 34:04Speaker 3: killing it.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Well, yes, that's what I said. Their offense.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Okay, my bad, my bad. Offensively, they've been killing it.
- 34:11Speaker 1: And the last two weeks, there has been improvement.
- 34:14Speaker 2: That's fair. There has been improvement. Yes.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Brian Branch is back. There's been improvement. He made an
- 34:19Speaker 1: interception last week.
- 34:20Speaker 2: He did. This is the test, though, right?
- 34:24Speaker 3: This is this defense is a unique one, which is
- 34:26Speaker 3: funny because it does feel like a measuring stick for
- 34:29Speaker 3: most teams. But they haven't really gone up against a
- 34:31Speaker 3: lot of really good teams. But going against the Vikings
- 34:34Speaker 3: defense is a bit of a measuring stick. But it's
- 34:36Speaker 3: a weird measuring stick because they don't do it like
- 34:38Speaker 3: anybody else does it. So like if if they turn
- 34:42Speaker 3: out to be terrible against the Vikings this week. I
- 34:45Speaker 3: wouldn't trip because you ain't going to see nothing like
- 34:47Speaker 3: that again unless you see the Vikings later. But they
- 34:50Speaker 3: have the advantage of being in the division and playing
- 34:53Speaker 3: against this team multiple times a year and this coach
- 34:56Speaker 3: for the last few years that I think they'll be
- 34:58Speaker 3: able to produce something. This could be the first loss
- 35:01Speaker 3: for the Vikings unless their offense shows up because they're
- 35:03Speaker 3: not going to shut down the lines in a way
- 35:08Speaker 3: that they shut down all these other teams, especially if
- 35:10Speaker 3: they don't have the rain to help them in the
- 35:11Speaker 3: way that it did against the Bears. Something I'd also
- 35:14Speaker 3: like to point out about the Lions that is a
- 35:15Speaker 3: tad worrisome is they are now using Jameer Gibbs like
- 35:21Speaker 3: it's 1993 and he's your best running back, which is
- 35:24Speaker 3: to say he is on pace to, I think, break
- 35:26Speaker 3: the NFL record for touches in a season. I don't
- 35:31Speaker 3: think any of us ever really thought of him as
- 35:33Speaker 3: being a 350 carry sort of running back, but he
- 35:36Speaker 3: has handled it and they believe that he can, but Yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 3: we'll see about that one. Of note, both he and
- 35:45Speaker 3: Amon Ross A. Brown are listed as questionable.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll see.
- 35:49Speaker 3: I mean, it's a price that will be paid for
- 35:54Speaker 3: a workload like that. The question for the Lions, I think, is,
- 35:59Speaker 3: is he going to pay that price this season?
- 36:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Or is he going to pay it next season?
- 36:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:04Speaker 2: And that'll determine how far they go to playoffs, probably.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Hey, man, are you ready for a comeback player of
- 36:09Speaker 1: the year, Nasty D.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Oh.
- 36:14Speaker 1: You see that Stephen A. was all with Canty, and
- 36:17Speaker 1: he said that Deshaun Watson was set up to be
- 36:19Speaker 1: comeback player of the year, and Canty was like, I'm
- 36:21Speaker 1: uncomfortable saying that. But people need to understand something about
- 36:24Speaker 1: the way the comeback player of the year award works
- 36:26Speaker 1: in the NFL. It is not a comeback from insert
- 36:32Speaker 1: thing here, right? It would not necessarily mean that he
- 36:36Speaker 1: came back from being nasty. Or it wouldn't even necessarily
- 36:40Speaker 1: mean he came back from the Achilles tear. Drew Brees
- 36:43Speaker 1: won Comeback Player of the Year in the NFL in 2004,
- 36:46Speaker 1: and all he came back from was being sorry. That's
- 36:50Speaker 1: all you got to do is used to be sorry
- 36:52Speaker 1: and then improve. He looked good last week. They are 5-2,
- 36:57Speaker 1: going against the 5-2 Pittsburgh Steelers. Their point differential indicates
- 37:02Speaker 1: they're not as good as they say, but me and
- 37:05Speaker 1: Ryan went through the schedule. There's a world where they
- 37:07Speaker 1: go 11-6, and this whole uncomfortable thing just continues. And
- 37:12Speaker 1: these Cleveland Browns fans that, you know, I understand that
- 37:15Speaker 1: some of you are mortified and would prefer that Deshaun
- 37:17Speaker 1: Watson not be your quarterback, but not as much as
- 37:20Speaker 1: you would prefer to be 11-6. I'm watching you guys.
- 37:24Speaker 3: That'll be interesting, the decisions that they make, because we
- 37:26Speaker 3: all thought that they were gearing up to draft a quarterback.
- 37:29Speaker 3: And the owner of the team pretty clearly said that
- 37:32Speaker 3: the Deshaun Watson trade in contract was a mistake.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Like, if they get to the end of this year
- 37:38Speaker 3: where his contract expires, I assume there's really almost nothing
- 37:43Speaker 3: he could do to make them, like, sign and retain him.
- 37:47Speaker 2: But 11-6.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And this is a weird year to try to take
- 37:51Speaker 1: a quarterback.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Exactly. Nobody seems to feel good about the class.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, but they'll convince themselves. It don't matter.
- 38:00Speaker 2: They will.
- 38:02Speaker 3: You'll be convinced that two or three of them were
- 38:05Speaker 3: failed by everything around them and they're going to work out.
- 38:07Speaker 1: But I think that people do that when they have
- 38:10Speaker 1: to do that. The question is whether or not the
- 38:12Speaker 1: Browns are going to feel as though they have to
- 38:16Speaker 1: do that.
- 38:18Speaker 3: I mean, the trade with the Rams seems like it's
- 38:22Speaker 3: working out really well for them.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Like the Rams are much worse than we expected.
- 38:25Speaker 3: And, and miles Garrett seems to not have enough left
- 38:30Speaker 3: to lift the team in the way that he did
- 38:32Speaker 3: with them last year. So they'll have a pretty high
- 38:34Speaker 3: pick combined with their picks. I'd be stunned if they
- 38:39Speaker 3: don't get a quarterback, man, like I would be stunned.
- 38:41Speaker 3: So like the Deshaun Watson thing, I think is, yeah,
- 38:45Speaker 3: it is of course uncomfortable in part because, because we sent,
- 38:50Speaker 3: he's coming back from the injury or you say coming
- 38:51Speaker 3: back from suspension, but also like he never really did
- 38:55Speaker 3: the thing that is required.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Like we'll welcome people back in. He ain't never really
- 38:59Speaker 2: did a thing.
- 39:01Speaker 1: He's still riding that story out. Right. And you know why?
- 39:05Speaker 1: Cause he still ain't told her the truth. That's why
- 39:10Speaker 1: he got it. As long as he's lying to her,
- 39:13Speaker 1: if he's lying.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:15Speaker 1: For more, get a call and call me all bad. Um,
- 39:19Speaker 1: If he's lying to her, then he has to continue
- 39:22Speaker 1: lying to us. Yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:26Speaker 1: But, hey, I just want to say this. Everybody involved
- 39:28Speaker 1: in NFL media, you don't have to. know if you're
- 39:30Speaker 1: going to be broadcasting one of them Cleveland Browns games.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Y'all need to start having meetings right now about the
- 39:34Speaker 1: packages y'all going to put together. Don't go out like
- 39:37Speaker 1: Amazon did. People have not been happy with the way
- 39:39Speaker 1: that Amazon handled that game. Yeah, that's the face. Y'all don't.
- 39:43Speaker 1: When you start talking about Nasty D, you need to
- 39:45Speaker 1: run this through many levels. Workshop. Workshop. This whole situation.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I'm putting you up on game right now, right? I'm
- 39:54Speaker 1: helping you. Right fast, we got the Chiefs and the Broncos,
- 39:59Speaker 1: and I feel like the Broncos feel a lot to
- 40:03Speaker 1: me like I think the Packers feel, where how they
- 40:06Speaker 1: feel and what their record is. don't feel like the
- 40:09Speaker 1: same thing at all. I guess the Packers feel worse
- 40:13Speaker 1: than 4-3. They were very close to being 5-2, but
- 40:15Speaker 1: they feel worse than being 4-3, and the Broncos do
- 40:18Speaker 1: not feel 5-2 because the last time they played, even
- 40:21Speaker 1: though they won, all we talked about was how sorry
- 40:24Speaker 1: their quarterback is. Ryan Fitzpatrick got his licks in, and
- 40:27Speaker 1: when you heard it, you were like, Yeah, there. There.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 3: And, I mean, then they had the Arizona game where
- 40:34Speaker 3: they looked a little better. The quarterback ran for a
- 40:36Speaker 3: 60-yard touchdown.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Yes. Oh, I forgot about that game. Yeah, the Broncos.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Are living off of, I think– Our expectations of them,
- 40:47Speaker 3: and to your point, they've won more games than you
- 40:50Speaker 3: actually think they are when you watch the games. That
- 40:53Speaker 3: Rams game that they played, they probably should have lost
- 40:56Speaker 3: that game to the Rams because that interception that was
- 40:59Speaker 3: called out-of-bounds... And called pass interference when it was neither.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Like, you're right.
- 41:03Speaker 3: They're getting away with some things. And last year they
- 41:05Speaker 3: got away with a bunch of close game wins. But
- 41:08Speaker 3: it's just a talented team. Without Sertan, they'll be better
- 41:12Speaker 3: when he's back and healthy. But they're just a talented
- 41:14Speaker 3: team that's been treading water and has a quarterback that
- 41:19Speaker 3: doesn't seem they really trust or believe in.
- 41:22Speaker 1: But speaking of teams that might need to look into
- 41:26Speaker 1: getting a quarterback. Yeah.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I don't know if they would pull that maneuver because
- 41:32Speaker 3: he's had some success for them, but if it's available.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Well, I'll also throw this out there. Something that has
- 41:38Speaker 1: become incredibly rare in the NFL is teams with surplus quarterbacks.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:45Speaker 1: And it appears there may be one team that at
- 41:48Speaker 1: the end of the year will have a surplus quarterback.
- 41:54Speaker 1: What if J.J. McCarthy.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Actual factual turns out to be good.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Which would be quite the deviation from what we have seen.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:05Speaker 2: It's funny how all we need is a little bit, man.
- 42:09Speaker 3: If you were drafted high, you got a little pedigree,
- 42:13Speaker 3: you give us a little something. We're willing to get
- 42:15Speaker 3: excited because he gave us a little something last week.
- 42:18Speaker 3: And I don't mean this as judgment. I was like, oh. I, too,
- 42:23Speaker 3: was like, okay, there's something here.
- 42:25Speaker 1: I was like, oh, that's why they took you in
- 42:27Speaker 1: the first round, which I never saw in this previous time.
- 42:33Speaker 3: The thing about, and I know this sounds counterintuitive because
- 42:37Speaker 3: the Texans are a very talented defense, and last year
- 42:41Speaker 3: was one of the best defenses, is it's probably a
- 42:43Speaker 3: pretty good defense to go up against if you're a
- 42:47Speaker 3: young quarterback. because they don't do much disguise. They're like,
- 42:51Speaker 3: we're just going to beat your ass up front. You
- 42:53Speaker 3: know where our best players are. We're not going to
- 42:55Speaker 3: move them around. We're not going to trick you. We
- 42:57Speaker 3: might blitz a little bit, but we're going to go.
- 42:59Speaker 3: It's going to be clear as cover four. It's going
- 43:01Speaker 3: to be clear as cover one. You know what you
- 43:03Speaker 3: have to do. Can you do it before we get
- 43:05Speaker 3: to you? And I think for J.J. McCarthy, like, yeah,
- 43:09Speaker 3: athleticism is there. The thing that he did last week
- 43:12Speaker 3: that I thought was special that wasn't really the throws
- 43:14Speaker 3: was like stepping up in the pocket and using his
- 43:16Speaker 3: athleticism to to buy more time. That was Jameis was
- 43:19Speaker 3: a statue back there.
- 43:21Speaker 2: So just having that ability, I think, really helps him.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Look at that progress, boy. Get that black man out
- 43:27Speaker 1: of there so that white boy can run around. You know,
- 43:31Speaker 1: back in the day, that's the thing. They'd put that
- 43:33Speaker 1: white boy in there specifically for that purpose. You need
- 43:36Speaker 1: to stand still, play quarterback like a man instead of
- 43:39Speaker 1: running around like a goddamn jackrabbit. You know, like now,
- 43:43Speaker 1: you know, the game done changed. Progress. Look at that.
- 43:45Speaker 1: We done made progress. The white man wins again. Right.
- 43:49Speaker 5: So what progress has actually been made? Rather than progress,
- 43:55Speaker 5: it's simply a rearrangement. We just started moving stuff around.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, oh, we want to live in the
- 44:03Speaker 2: cities again.
- 44:03Speaker 3: That's exactly what it is.
- 44:07Speaker 1: We back.
- 44:08Speaker 2: We back.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Nah, ain't no bus out there. I don't know how
- 44:12Speaker 1: you going to get to work. Figure it out. Shit.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Maybe y'all can ride together like you did when you.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Was on the boycott.
- 44:26Speaker 1: But before I forget, any worry about Kansas City after
- 44:30Speaker 1: the Sunday night game?
- 44:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I have some.
- 44:33Speaker 3: I mean, I got into it with Orlovsky on on
- 44:38Speaker 3: Get Up because you broke out.
- 44:40Speaker 1: He had a calculator.
- 44:43Speaker 3: He retold that story, and it was me who explained
- 44:46Speaker 3: it to him. He gave all the credit to him, Bo.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Once you told me that, I was a little disappointed
- 44:52Speaker 1: in him. For those of y'all who don't know, Dan
- 44:54Speaker 1: Orlowski don't understand what percent is.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a rough moment.
- 44:57Speaker 1: And you're asking yourself, what do you mean he doesn't
- 44:59Speaker 1: understand what percent is? I mean, the whole notion and
- 45:02Speaker 1: the idea. Like, McAfee had to tell him, now everybody
- 45:06Speaker 1: knows what percent is.
- 45:08Speaker 3: And the way that it went down was– he asked
- 45:12Speaker 3: him both for a stat. So him both said it
- 45:13Speaker 3: was a, uh, Joe Burrow had a 4% sack rate.
- 45:17Speaker 1: And, um, good job, Joe, Joe Burrow. That's an improvement. Yeah. Yeah.
- 45:20Speaker 3: And Dan was like, so give it to me in
- 45:23Speaker 3: a way that people will understand. Because like, if I
- 45:25Speaker 3: just say 4%, no one will get it. And then
- 45:27Speaker 3: that's when I chimed in and was like, I don't
- 45:30Speaker 3: think we can get any more simple to this. And
- 45:32Speaker 3: I was like, 4%. That means out of every 100 times,
- 45:36Speaker 3: four times, this thing is going to happen.
- 45:38Speaker 2: And he was like, what? That's what it?
- 45:41Speaker 3: And I said, per cent, like cents, like century, like
- 45:46Speaker 3: 100 per 100.
- 45:49Speaker 2: And he was like, what? I never knew that. And
- 45:51Speaker 2: I was like the etymology, like I.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Could understand, maybe not understand the etymology of it, but like.
- 45:58Speaker 2: How you live life. not knowing that percent me out
- 46:02Speaker 2: of 100.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Hey, brother, this is the part that got me in
- 46:05Speaker 1: the telling that you just had is when he said,
- 46:07Speaker 1: give me, because I am a, and on the principle
- 46:11Speaker 1: of the idea of give me something that people are
- 46:13Speaker 1: going to understand.
- 46:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 46:15Speaker 1: I'm big on that, right? The fact that he thought
- 46:22Speaker 1: percent was an advanced, he thought that none of us
- 46:25Speaker 1: knew it because he didn't know it. Don't do that
- 46:30Speaker 1: to me, brother. You understand what I'm saying? Like that, that,
- 46:33Speaker 1: that here in that part, nobody's going to. Yeah.
- 46:41Speaker 3: I wouldn't do that to him if he didn't already
- 46:43Speaker 3: do it to himself because I would be. And so
- 46:45Speaker 3: like we're sometimes on get up like commercial funny things
- 46:48Speaker 3: to have in a commercial break. We'll bring him on air.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Greeny was like, nah, we can't do that one. He
- 46:53Speaker 3: was like, nah, nah, we ain't going to do that.
- 46:56Speaker 2: And he took it himself.
- 46:57Speaker 1: He went all these places. Nowhere did he realize, brother.
- 47:02Speaker 2: No, no.
- 47:03Speaker 3: He did get up that morning in first take, and
- 47:06Speaker 3: then he went to do McAfee.
- 47:07Speaker 2: And boy, be working. So maybe his brain's just tired.
- 47:10Speaker 1: All I'm saying is this. Whatever it is that y'all
- 47:13Speaker 1: think about Pat McAfee and his crew, whatever y'all think
- 47:16Speaker 1: it is, they were mortified. Pat McAfee tried to change
- 47:22Speaker 1: the subject. He tried to jump on that grenade. And
- 47:25Speaker 1: Dan was like, no, no, no, no. I know Pat
- 47:28Speaker 1: didn't know. Pat's like, no, brother, we all... Why can't
- 47:32Speaker 1: we just go talk about something else? They were some
- 47:37Speaker 1: good homies. That was what I thought when I saw
- 47:39Speaker 1: them there, man. I was like, oh, okay. They some.
- 47:43Speaker 2: They have some good friends.
- 47:44Speaker 1: But the Kansas City Chiefs, what worries you about that?
- 47:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I was saying that he and I got into
- 47:49Speaker 3: it because he did the same thing that we do
- 47:51Speaker 3: every year with the Chiefs.
- 47:52Speaker 2: It's like, but we got to get him a receiver.
- 47:55Speaker 3: And, like, my point is we're imagining the Chiefs in
- 47:58Speaker 3: the way that they were with Tyreek Hill. They ain't
- 48:00Speaker 3: been like that. They're not going to be like that
- 48:02Speaker 3: because it's Tyreek Hill that made.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Them like that. Like, we think that.
- 48:07Speaker 3: And Tyreek Hill went to Miami and demonstrated that he
- 48:10Speaker 3: can be like that with just about anybody.
- 48:12Speaker 1: He's an all-time great player.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and so the combination of him and Mahomes is
- 48:16Speaker 3: what made that happen. Assuming that we can fix that
- 48:19Speaker 3: by finding another receiver that's a cast off from somewhere
- 48:23Speaker 3: else that has a lot of skill but didn't work out. No,
- 48:26Speaker 3: that's not what y'all had when y'all had that. And
- 48:29Speaker 3: when you watch that Seattle game, the problem was Their
- 48:32Speaker 3: offense had been playing against bad defenses, or at least
- 48:36Speaker 3: bad run defenses, and they were running the hell out
- 48:38Speaker 3: of the ball, which then led to these defenses adding
- 48:42Speaker 3: another player to the box, which then made it so
- 48:45Speaker 3: Patrick Mahomes could attack downhill, downfield to Tyquan Thornton. When
- 48:49Speaker 3: you watch that Seahawks game, the Seahawks were not required
- 48:53Speaker 3: to compromise themselves in any way to stop the run.
- 48:57Speaker 2: They played too high and shut that shit down.
- 49:00Speaker 3: And so my point was like, We're not going to
- 49:03Speaker 3: solve this by getting another receiver. If you had someone
- 49:06Speaker 3: like Tyreek Hill, then OK, you play too high. We
- 49:09Speaker 3: still going to beat it. But the way that you
- 49:11Speaker 3: solve this is by being able to run the ball
- 49:14Speaker 3: like you did early in the season. Get back in
- 49:16Speaker 3: those situations where the teams come out and load the ball.
- 49:20Speaker 3: because you're running the ball so well. And if they're
- 49:22Speaker 3: not able to run the ball that way against these good,
- 49:25Speaker 3: these better defenses, then I don't think that the solve
- 49:29Speaker 3: is getting someone who can threaten downfield like that's not
- 49:33Speaker 3: no one. It's not going to move me like I
- 49:35Speaker 3: can play cover two or two man or play whatever
- 49:39Speaker 3: coverage I want to take away your deep passing game
- 49:42Speaker 3: because I have all the DBs I need to scheme
- 49:45Speaker 3: it up because you can't run the ball against my
- 49:48Speaker 3: front seven.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Let's see how it goes. I think I might go
- 49:51Speaker 1: watch that game with Nick.
- 49:53Speaker 2: That'll be fun.
- 49:54Speaker 1: That'll be an interesting way to get the pulse.
- 49:57Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Watch them tackles.
- 50:00Speaker 3: You tell Nick to focus on one tackle, you focus
- 50:02Speaker 3: on the other tackle.
- 50:04Speaker 2: You'll know how that game is going to go.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Is Josh Simmons going to be playing?
- 50:08Speaker 3: That's another. That has been an incredible athlete. Confused from
- 50:14Speaker 3: the start to his career.
- 50:15Speaker 1: You know what it sounds like? It sounds like he's
- 50:17Speaker 1: supposed to be a three-tech. He's supposed to be on
- 50:21Speaker 1: the other side of the ball. He's supposed to be
- 50:23Speaker 1: going forward. That's why he's so fucked up. Y'all got
- 50:27Speaker 1: him going the wrong way. Y'all got him behaving against
- 50:30Speaker 1: his nature. He can wind up playing defensive line and
- 50:35Speaker 1: be like, yo. It's like when people tell me, like
- 50:39Speaker 1: people I know who have ADHD, and they tell me
- 50:41Speaker 1: they take the medicine, and it's like, yo, there's been
- 50:43Speaker 1: this fog that's been lifted.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Right. All of a sudden, all this background noise isn't
- 50:47Speaker 1: running anymore. That's what's going to happen when he turned
- 50:50Speaker 1: up to the other side.
- 50:51Speaker 2: I just love that.
- 50:53Speaker 3: And it's come to me honestly is that I don't
- 50:58Speaker 3: believe in Zodiac signs or anything like that.
- 51:02Speaker 2: But I do believe in positions telling me all I
- 51:05Speaker 2: need to know.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Like I can have a full conversation about someone's personality,
- 51:09Speaker 3: whether they play sports or not. If I tell one
- 51:12Speaker 3: of my people who in football, like, oh, nah, nah,
- 51:15Speaker 3: she a DB. They know exactly what that means about
- 51:19Speaker 3: her personality.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Like, nah, nah, that's, oh, she a guard? Oh, that's
- 51:25Speaker 2: a guard?
- 51:25Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay.
- 51:28Speaker 2: I can deal with that. Sacrifice, baby.
- 51:30Speaker 1: I feel like guards, though, are the defensive linemen of
- 51:32Speaker 1: the offensive line.
- 51:33Speaker 3: The guards, though, it's a desperation thing for guards, man.
- 51:37Speaker 3: No disrespect to the guards, but the guards, as Mike
- 51:42Speaker 3: Golick Jr. will tell you, a former guard himself, that
- 51:46Speaker 3: it's the last spot on the team before you off
- 51:48Speaker 3: the team. Because it's like you ain't big enough to
- 51:52Speaker 3: play tackle. You're not explosive enough to play defense. So
- 51:54Speaker 3: you're just like, man.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Happy to be here, baby.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Everybody's a guard, with the exception of being like Bruce Matthews.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Everybody's a guard because of something they're not.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Exactly. Even Quentin Nelson, who's a great guard. Short arms.
- 52:07Speaker 2: But that's why you guard, baby. A little bit of shortcomings.
- 52:11Speaker 1: I don't know if he is the best. I don't
- 52:13Speaker 1: know enough about offensive line to talk about who the
- 52:15Speaker 1: best guards are or not. But I will tell you this.
- 52:18Speaker 1: He appeared to be the most imposing guard that I
- 52:21Speaker 1: recall ever seeing.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Well, Makai Becton. Yeah, but he's not.
- 52:26Speaker 1: A guard, right?
- 52:27Speaker 2: He's a tackle playing guard.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I've only ever seen Quentin Nelson. And also, Makai Becton
- 52:31Speaker 1: seems to be a much nicer man than Quentin Nelson.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Yeah, true.
- 52:34Speaker 1: White Quentin, by the way. That's an important detail.
- 52:37Speaker 2: I didn't realize that that was a random.
- 52:39Speaker 3: So Kevin Clark was on our show a couple days ago,
- 52:42Speaker 3: and he pointed that out to me.
- 52:43Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, I didn't realize that was
- 52:45Speaker 2: a thing.
- 52:46Speaker 1: White Quentin?
- 52:47Speaker 2: Or that, like, it was unique.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like cute names... Quentin, Quincy's, all of those,
- 52:53Speaker 1: we hold down the Qs. Tarantino, though. Tarantino came up.
- 52:56Speaker 1: That is true. That's the only one. And God knows
- 52:59Speaker 1: he doesn't think he's white Quentin.
- 53:01Speaker 2: He did not. He'd be using words.
- 53:03Speaker 1: He thinks his name being Quentin affords him.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Privileges.
- 53:07Speaker 1: I'm just saying, if you're somewhere and somebody be like, hey, yo, Q,
- 53:10Speaker 1: you're not expecting a white person to turn around.
- 53:12Speaker 2: As someone with a Q in my name, yeah.
- 53:14Speaker 1: That's right.
- 53:15Speaker 2: It's lonely out here, baby.
- 53:16Speaker 1: That's right. We've taken them all. Before we get out
- 53:18Speaker 1: of here, Ernie Johnson. Junior, for those of us who
- 53:22Speaker 1: are Braves fans, because, you know, his dad did the
- 53:25Speaker 1: Braves games when we were growing up. So he's Ernie
- 53:28Speaker 1: Johnson Jr. He has announced that he will be retiring
- 53:31Speaker 1: at the end of this year. Now, as I recall,
- 53:34Speaker 1: Charles Barkley had already told this because Charles Barkley said
- 53:36Speaker 1: that he thinks this will be his last year because
- 53:38Speaker 1: it's going to be Ernie's last year. But it'd be
- 53:40Speaker 1: so much going on that we can't remember. And then
- 53:42Speaker 1: Ernie said he's been doing that show for 37 years.
- 53:45Speaker 1: And everybody seemed real sad, obviously. Ernie, I don't know
- 53:49Speaker 1: if anybody's got a higher Q rating than Ernie. Who's
- 53:52Speaker 1: the person? There's somebody out there. I don't know who
- 53:55Speaker 1: it is. I always say there's somebody that hates Steph
- 53:58Speaker 1: Curry's guts and has nowhere. When Dolly Parton died, I
- 54:01Speaker 1: always felt so bad for whoever that was that had
- 54:04Speaker 1: been hating Dolly Parton since they was in the eighth
- 54:06Speaker 1: grade and don't nobody want to hear it. I don't
- 54:08Speaker 1: know who the person is that hates Ernie because everybody
- 54:10Speaker 1: seemed to love Ernie.
- 54:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know how you get to hate Ernie
- 54:14Speaker 3: at this point, and he's walking away at this point. Now,
- 54:17Speaker 3: before you can get to the point where you even
- 54:20Speaker 3: criticize him, because that's where some hate might have come from,
- 54:23Speaker 3: is if he gets bad at his job and he's
- 54:26Speaker 3: still around, somebody might, young people, like.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Man, he ain't even good.
- 54:29Speaker 3: I started to see that happening to some people in
- 54:32Speaker 3: our industry, but it ain't going to happen to Ernie
- 54:34Speaker 3: because he out of there.
- 54:36Speaker 2: I can't even fix my... And he's not.
- 54:38Speaker 3: super opinionated for or against any team so like i
- 54:42Speaker 3: can't see you saying well he don't like my team
- 54:45Speaker 3: like ernie just a just a nice guy man hey.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Man ernie adopted children ernie ernie b cancer Like Ernie
- 54:53Speaker 1: Ernie Ernie be wearing them bow ties to raise to
- 54:57Speaker 1: raise money for people. And Ernie has a role. I
- 55:01Speaker 1: don't think the white people properly understand his role. But
- 55:05Speaker 1: a lot of you, if you if you care and
- 55:07Speaker 1: I understand that many of you do not. But if
- 55:10Speaker 1: you care, Ernie is the template for the white homie.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Ernie has spent the last 26 years, because Charles has
- 55:19Speaker 1: been doing that show now for, it'll be the 27th
- 55:23Speaker 1: year that Charles has been doing that show. Wow. He
- 55:25Speaker 1: has been Black America's white homie forever. doing that job,
- 55:30Speaker 1: and all he's ever done is just been himself. He
- 55:33Speaker 1: ain't tried to do too much. In fact, they ain't
- 55:36Speaker 1: even really have him try to do, like, getting a
- 55:38Speaker 1: little too heavy into that until ESPN had him up
- 55:41Speaker 1: there doing DMX to do the promotion, right? But otherwise,
- 55:46Speaker 1: and keep in mind, when I say he's a white homie,
- 55:48Speaker 1: when he did not vote for Trump, he wrote in
- 55:51Speaker 1: John Kasich. That's fair. You ain't got to come over
- 55:56Speaker 1: here and pretend. You ain't got to come over here
- 55:59Speaker 1: and pander. He's just hanging out with those guys, knew
- 56:03Speaker 1: the jokes he didn't know, doesn't make a big deal
- 56:05Speaker 1: about it when he doesn't know the jokes. Hey, look
- 56:07Speaker 1: how white I am. Never does that. Just rolls in
- 56:11Speaker 1: with whatever it is that they're rolling with, learn how
- 56:14Speaker 1: to get in and tell the jokes when it was
- 56:16Speaker 1: his time to tell the jokes.
- 56:18Speaker 3: And.
- 56:19Speaker 1: The very tricky situation of being the only white man
- 56:22Speaker 1: on site when they tell them jokes that imply that
- 56:24Speaker 1: Charles don't read very good. It's stuff like that where
- 56:28Speaker 1: a white man could really get in trouble. Not Artie.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Artie's like, I let them tell those jokes amongst themselves.
- 56:34Speaker 2: It's smart.
- 56:35Speaker 3: And I mean, I think that honestly, what I see
- 56:38Speaker 3: from him is a level of and I hate to
- 56:40Speaker 3: use buzzwords like authenticity, but he seems so secure.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 56:44Speaker 3: And that's your point is like even dubbing it the
- 56:47Speaker 3: white homie. Like, I know what you're saying, but I
- 56:50Speaker 3: think that people would assume that that if you tell them.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Go be the white homie. They think that it mean
- 56:55Speaker 2: I got to go do something different.
- 56:57Speaker 1: No.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Just being the white homie is like being any other homie.
- 57:01Speaker 2: Just be yourself. And if yourself is cool, you the
- 57:04Speaker 2: white homie.
- 57:04Speaker 1: That is exactly it. And please understand this about black people.
- 57:08Speaker 1: We'd be so happy y'all be nice to us.
- 57:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:11Speaker 1: You don't have to come to where we... If you
- 57:13Speaker 1: are where we are and you're good with that, that's
- 57:16Speaker 1: all we require of the white homie.
- 57:19Speaker 2: And I also think it's like the.
- 57:21Speaker 3: the record the recognition of like um the the black
- 57:28Speaker 3: experience and uniqueness of different people recognizing that it's not
- 57:32Speaker 3: lesser than correct it's like that's something you get from
- 57:34Speaker 3: ernie whereas for us to be the black homies so
- 57:38Speaker 3: to speak in another situation we is required that you
- 57:43Speaker 3: um assimilate in some way and you like change or
- 57:46Speaker 3: you provide something like to be the black homie you
- 57:48Speaker 3: have to do something so i understand why you would
- 57:50Speaker 3: think coming over means i got to do something to
- 57:53Speaker 3: be there but like no because what your culture is
- 57:56Speaker 3: is like the main driving factor what what is cool
- 58:00Speaker 3: when y'all come over here it's like nah this is
- 58:02Speaker 3: you're welcome here that way but we feel differently.
- 58:04Speaker 2: Over there so it's like ernie is like yeah I'm
- 58:07Speaker 2: Ernie Johnson. This is who I am.
- 58:09Speaker 3: And religion, I think, has a lot to do with
- 58:11Speaker 3: powering the way that he feels. I'm not saying that
- 58:14Speaker 3: it would change anything about him. But, like, I think
- 58:16Speaker 3: it does help give him, like, to believe in that
- 58:18Speaker 3: stuff so sincerely gives him some, like, security and comfort
- 58:21Speaker 3: in being a truer version of himself.
- 58:23Speaker 1: He also grew up in Atlanta. Like, I don't know
- 58:26Speaker 1: exactly his Atlanta upbringing. Like, I don't know where in town. Because,
- 58:30Speaker 1: you know, boy, when the white people left Atlanta, brother,
- 58:32Speaker 1: they left Atlanta. But, you know, working for Turner, you know,
- 58:37Speaker 1: being around all those places. I know he did TV
- 58:39Speaker 1: and making for a little while. And I hadn't really
- 58:42Speaker 1: thought about this part until now. That show is never
- 58:48Speaker 1: thought of as a black show. And it is very black.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Very black. Right? Ernie's mere presence. And given the co-sign
- 58:59Speaker 1: of it, it's pretty cool, eh?
- 59:01Speaker 2: All right, cool.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Like, this is pretty fun. Like, I've been back there
- 59:03Speaker 1: in the green room with them, Watch it. I already
- 59:05Speaker 1: tipped them macaroni and cheese, you know, because them cats
- 59:08Speaker 1: get to decide what the plates are going to be.
- 59:10Speaker 1: I already just hang it. Like, everything is just, it's
- 59:13Speaker 1: a great hang. It's a great hang.
- 59:16Speaker 3: The idea that it's not considered a black show is
- 59:19Speaker 3: interesting to me because it's, like, it's very difficult to
- 59:22Speaker 3: have anything be mostly black. And, like, culturally and, like,
- 59:26Speaker 3: the way that they carry themselves feels different.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Like less.
- 59:31Speaker 3: Conventional and I mean, less so now because they've been
- 59:34Speaker 3: around for so long. But like that to me is interesting.
- 59:37Speaker 3: It's always just been considered like the NBA show, not
- 59:40Speaker 3: the black NBA show.
- 59:41Speaker 1: But it's also I think it's worth noting that the
- 59:42Speaker 1: show is not a particularly hip hop show.
- 59:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 59:46Speaker 1: And I think I think that when hip hop came around,
- 59:48Speaker 1: they were willing to.
- 59:49Speaker 2: All right, cool.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Yeah, we've seen what it can be. How about we
- 59:53Speaker 1: just settle on not hippity hop black? Huh? How about that?
- 59:57Speaker 1: What do you guys think? Like, why don't we just,
- 59:59Speaker 1: why don't we just land there?
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: I mean, I'm thinking about like the other shows, like, um,
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Which I guess very few things, new things, I think
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: are like coming on TV now.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: So it's like a lot more digital stuff.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: But even Shannon Sharp, which show obviously crossover and it's
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: hugely popular.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Like that feels like a black show.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Very much black.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Right. The guess he has a black is like.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: Talk about black things and giving off black yeah like.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: That show does that too right.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Yeah you know right i know but that's that's my
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: point exactly it's.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Just interesting in that way that it could do that
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: um i've seen that now the question is you know
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: the speculation about who will wind up being next now
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: the real question is is charles going to come back
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: or not because charles i just can't explain to you
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: after i after i did that week working at turner
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: it was like oh no charles is everything right like
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: charles isn't the the the tone setter the culture all
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: of these things But if you keep it going, I'll
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: say it out here. There's no question here. That's Lefkoe's job. Yeah.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Friend of the program. I guess playmaker sports colleague. I
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: guess he's also on that list. But no, that's a
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: that's a Lefkoe. Lefkoe's good at being the white homie.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: He gets it. You know, the thing is, though, Lefkoe
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: got all that bass in his voice. People won't understand
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: that he just being himself.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I was going to say.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: But Ernie got all that bass in his voice, too.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: I think that's an important thing if you're going to
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: be the white homie. Some quiet storm shit is a
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: good start.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: It's a good start.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: And I think Lefkoe grew up at a different time
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: than Ernie, so Lefkoe, I think, is also a lot more.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Like it's about the authenticity, right?
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Like I think Lefkoe is authentically a little bit more
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: hip hop than Ernie was. So like whatever happens to
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: that show, I assumed.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: It was going to be Lefkoe. I think it should be.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: He works with those guys regularly and they still have
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: the same rapport. Him and Shaq do a lot of
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: stuff together. So I'm putting in my vote. And let
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: me tell you this about Lefkoe too.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Um, I stayed at the hotel that everybody stays at
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: whenever you do Turner work. We in there. And I
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: pulled up in the lobby with Lefkoe one day. Lefkoe,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: the mayor of that bad boy.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Lefkoe walking around this hotel in Atlanta and the staff, I-Y-K-Y-K.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: He the mayor when he pull up.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Yeah, he's one of those guys. Yes. He's the mayor
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: everywhere he goes.

- 1:02:47Speaker 3: a lot more about Lefkoe and his family later on.
