- 0:22Speaker 2: An old cowboy walks into a barber shop for a
- 0:25Speaker 2: shave and a haircut. He tells the barber he can't
- 0:29Speaker 2: get all his whiskers off because his cheeks are wrinkled
- 0:33Speaker 2: from age. The barber gets a little wooden ball from
- 0:38Speaker 2: a cup on the shelf and tells the old cowboy
- 0:42Speaker 2: to put it inside his cheek to spread out the skin.
- 0:46Speaker 2: When he's finished, the old cowboy tells the barber that
- 0:51Speaker 2: that was the cleanest shave he'd had in years, but
- 0:55Speaker 2: he wanted to know what would have happened if he
- 0:58Speaker 2: had accidentally swallowed that little ball. The barber looked at
- 1:04Speaker 2: him and replied, just bring it back in a couple
- 1:07Speaker 2: of days. Like everyone else does. We live in a
- 1:25Speaker 2: world that loves wealth and the accumulation of money. Can

- 2:59Speaker 2: Financial Do you know the answer to this week's trivia question?
- 3:12Speaker 2: The question was in what year did the Battle of
- 3:16Speaker 2: Hastings take place, marking the beginning of Norman rule in England?
- 3:22Speaker 2: The answer ten sixty six. The Battle of Hastings took
- 3:27Speaker 2: place on October fourteenth, ten sixty six, between the Norman
- 3:32Speaker 2: forces of Duke William the Second of Normandy and the
- 3:36Speaker 2: Anglo Saxon army led by King Harold the Second of England.
- 3:42Speaker 2: The battle resulted in a decisive Norman victory, with Harold
- 3:46Speaker 2: the Second being killed, which paved the way for William
- 3:50Speaker 2: to become King of England and established Norman rule, significantly
- 3:55Speaker 2: influencing the culture, language, and governance of England ten sixty six.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Now you know. While money and material possessions can provide
- 4:18Speaker 2: temporary comfort and convenience, they do not lead to lasting happiness.
- 4:24Speaker 2: True happiness often comes from meaningful relationships, personal growth, and
- 4:29Speaker 2: a sense of purpose, rather than external wealth or stature.
- 4:36Speaker 2: The pursuit of money can sometimes overshadow the importance of
- 4:39Speaker 2: these deeper connections and experiences, leading to a sense of
- 4:43Speaker 2: emptiness once the initial excitement fades. Ultimately, fulfillment comes from
- 4:50Speaker 2: within through contentment, gratitude, and the simple joys of life.
- 4:57Speaker 2: As the old saying goes, the best what money can
- 5:00Speaker 2: do is rent happiness for only a short time. In
- 5:05Speaker 2: the long run, money does not buy happiness. The acclaimed
- 5:21Speaker 2: writer Kurt Vonnegut once wrote this about Joe Heller. Joe
- 5:29Speaker 2: Heller true story, Word of honor. Joe Joseph Heller, an
- 5:36Speaker 2: important and funny writer now dead. And I were at
- 5:41Speaker 2: a party given by a billionaire on Shelter Island. I said, Joe,
- 5:48Speaker 2: how does it make you feel to know that our
- 5:51Speaker 2: host only yesterday may have made more money than your
- 5:56Speaker 2: novel Catch twenty two has earned in its entire history.
- 6:02Speaker 2: And Joe said, I've got something he can never have.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And I said, what on earth could that be? And
- 6:13Speaker 2: Joe said, the knowledge that I've got enough.
