- 0:20Favorite happy places her chicken coop, along with all her
- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Well, just outside of the chicken coop.
- 0:32We are at the corner of the garden, where each section of my
- 0:37huge vegetable garden. I have these big 10 foot posts
- 0:42and across from each other. So it's a 50 by 50 Garden if you
- 0:45can imagine. And on the two corners that are
- 0:48opposite each other, I've got little blue bird houses and
- 0:53those blue bird houses are very, very busy.
- 0:55I've got others around the property, but these particular
- 0:58two are very, very busy. Because the bluebirds are very
- 1:01smart. The garden is wired to keep out
- 1:04animals in the night, but that wire is also protecting anything
- 1:08from crawling up and getting into their houses.
- 1:10So they really like to be at the top post for these houses and
- 1:16inside one of them, we have all the little babies right now that
- 1:19have hatched out and the mother and father take care of them
- 1:23together and they go back and forth and I was hoping that we
- 1:27might be able to hear. Them can hear all kinds of other
- 1:30birds but The chickens are just so loud and they're following me
- 1:32everywhere so they might not might not be able to hear them
- 1:35this morning. Anyway, these little babies,
- 1:38what I wanted to talk to you about today?
- 1:40This is always such an exciting time for me because it makes it
- 1:44that, you know, it just makes me so aware of the fact that
- 1:48there's constant growth and constant abundance all around
- 1:54us. And whenever I see them
- 1:56screaming and peeping their little heads out, Moms and
- 2:01flying back and forth. And, of course, because I'm
- 2:04obsessive with things like this and all my stuff of nature.
- 2:08I have a little flight deck and bluebirds, really love
- 2:11freeze-dried mealworms as do chickens.
- 2:13So I always have them on in big buckets of them in my garage to
- 2:18give my girls treats. So these blue birds love to take
- 2:22the babies these these little freeze-dried mealworms and they
- 2:29adore them and you Just see that.
- 2:30It's so it's so great because they've got a water source,
- 2:33they've got food, they've got this house and it kind of all
- 2:37put this together in my head about, you know, doing these
- 2:41little things that make you feel good because it makes me feel so
- 2:44good to be able to take care of them and help them out.
- 2:48Is, am I doing it for them? Or am I doing it for me?
- 2:51Well, can the bowl things be true at the same time.
- 2:55As you often heard me say two things can be true at the same
- 2:57time and it is true. I mean I do it.
- 3:00For them. But I do it as much for me
- 3:02because it brings me so much joy to see the fact that they can
- 3:07have a really great safe, life right here, while I can help
- 3:11them. I can get them off to a great
- 3:13start, but that just fills my soul up that makes me so happy.
- 3:17That's what happens with the chickens.
- 3:19It's all about figuring out. You know, what fills your soul
- 3:23up hanging out with the chickens fills, my soul up, watching them
- 3:27get so excited about silly things fills my soul.
- 3:30That I put out a little sign on the edge of my garden.
- 3:33That says the reward is in the waiting and my chickens kept
- 3:37coming by and looking at it packing at it.
- 3:40And I was cracking up laughing thinking to myself.
- 3:43They're so curious. And they're so silly, and
- 3:45they're just so interesting and they just that just brings me a
- 3:49lot of Joy do n. Do I have them just to take care
- 3:53of them? No, I have them.
- 3:55Of course, I'm going to take excellent care of them but I
- 3:57have it because it brings me joy.
- 3:59And I want to share that with all of you that finding those
- 4:03silly little things like, you know, feeding birds, or having
- 4:09chickens or gardening or putting you know, something in your way.
- 4:15That brings you Joy. As much as it takes care of the
- 4:17other thing or the other person, the other animal, if it brings
- 4:21you Joy in the process, please know, you're not just doing it
- 4:24for them, you're doing it for you as well, because that little
- 4:27bit of joy is so important. To our soul.
- 4:31It's so important to our growth and every time spring rolls
- 4:34around, I am humbly reminded but the fact that wow, everything
- 4:41emerges from the winter, you know, I we are walking around
- 4:44the farm last night Mark and I and we're looking and we've got,
- 4:49I don't know 17, blueberry bushes and blackberry bushes
- 4:53that are just abundantly filled with flowers and blueberries
- 4:57which is going to be amazing if we can stop the chickens.
- 5:00Uh meeting. That's was our discussion just
- 5:02funny because chickens love blueberries and boy that is a
- 5:06task and we've got all the fig trees that are all blooming out
- 5:10now and plum trees that are blooming out now.
- 5:13And we had a really cold freeze for days and days and days and
- 5:17didn't know what would be able to survive.
- 5:20But you know what, everything looks like it did with the one
- 5:24tree didn't make it and, you know, okay.
- 5:27And I had lost a bunch of succulents but Spring brings,
- 5:32Hope Spring, brings you things that you can look at and say, I
- 5:37feel amazing about this. I feel so good about this and
- 5:40that's what it's all about. And having that Soul filled.
- 5:43Joy is what we need to work on in the spring so that it carries
- 5:47us through. So set yourself up.
- 5:49Look for something that brings you Joy.
- 5:51Again, it can be something as simple as having the birds, you
- 5:55know, feed birds. I mean my mother was the one
- 5:57that actually taught me to do this.
- 5:59I do this. It's in homage to my mother but
- 6:02honestly, it brings me so much joy.
- 6:05It started off as something simple, it started off as how
- 6:09I'm going to just do it because I wanted to do something to
- 6:12honor my mother and now I'm like obsessed with it.
- 6:16I'm obsessed with all the different birds that show up,
- 6:18and it brings me joy, and it helps them at the same time.
- 6:21So, look for your thing, find your little thing, go out there
- 6:25and, and create some joy in your life.
- 6:27All right, my friends. I hope you have a blessed day
- 6:29and I will, I'll see you tomorrow.
- 6:31Bye. I'll see you tomorrow.
- 6:31Bye.
