- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:16Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett on this Thursday, September 17th. Hope
- 0:21Speaker 2: everybody's having a great day so far. If you want
- 0:23Speaker 2: to give us a call, 502-384-1450. If you want to
- 0:27Speaker 2: give me a text and save me, I would appreciate
- 0:30Speaker 2: that as well.
- 0:30Speaker 1: 502-414-1450.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Or you can tweet me at Just the Cat Radio.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Justin Kalin is here with me this morning, as you
- 0:37Speaker 2: heard from Sunrise with Scoots.
- 0:39Speaker 1: But, Justin, I made it. I'm good.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Everything's good to go. I'm relaxed now. I feel a
- 0:45Speaker 2: little better. Except for you just asked for saving.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I know. Yeah, I did. I need to be saved, okay?
- 0:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm trying. Have you been to church? No.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Here's my problem. That's not the saving I need. Be
- 0:59Speaker 2: away from people.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Sure. There's a lot going on. Well, I mean, yeah.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I should have gave you a heads up. Yeah, I
- 1:09Speaker 2: was getting ready to say, you should forewarn me on this.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Because I pull into the parking lot, already cones are
- 1:14Speaker 2: out for people.
- 1:16Speaker 1: That's not me. In my spot. Well, exactly. In my spot.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And I don't like that. It's like, wait a minute now.
- 1:24Speaker 1: We're here every single day. You mean you're going to
- 1:27Speaker 1: save spots for people that are not here every single day?
- 1:31Speaker 1: Or maybe those were saved for us to make sure
- 1:33Speaker 1: we have spots, and we should have known that and
- 1:35Speaker 1: moved the cone and parked in there. Well, when Jim,
- 1:38Speaker 1: the DJ from WJIE, he wasn't parked in his normal spot,
- 1:42Speaker 1: I took that to mean I can't park in my
- 1:44Speaker 1: normal spot. And that sucks. I hate change. When you
- 1:48Speaker 1: throw my routine off, Yeah. Then I get thrown off,
- 1:52Speaker 1: but luckily I've been able to navigate around it.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, because these kind of days you need, tell me. Michael,
- 1:58Speaker 2: there's people here. And then guess what? I'm doing the
- 2:00Speaker 2: show for my house. Well, that'll be the same for tomorrow.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Oh, it will be? And probably all of next week.
- 2:06Speaker 1: All of next week? Yeah. What are these people doing here?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Don't tell me it's time to raise money. Yeah, it's
- 2:12Speaker 1: the fall fundraiser. Go away. I mean, raise it from home, okay?
- 2:16Speaker 1: You only got to deal with it like two weeks
- 2:17Speaker 1: a year.
- 2:18Speaker 2: That's two weeks too much, okay? Just to let you know.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Don't you know my brain yet?
- 2:24Speaker 1: I do. Okay. I mean, I think I do. Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I try to anyway. Well, no, you'll never know it
- 2:30Speaker 1: because I don't know it. It's kind of impossible. It is.
- 2:33Speaker 1: It's weird. Sometimes it's like, okay, I'm good to go.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I can be around people. Other times it's like, I
- 2:38Speaker 1: just want to be by myself. I just, I don't
- 2:41Speaker 1: get it. I wish I wasn't this way. But anyway,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'm good to go now. I'll settle myself down. Thank
- 2:48Speaker 1: goodness there's a window in the studio and that's probably
- 2:50Speaker 1: the way I'll exit today. Is that terrible? What if
- 2:54Speaker 1: I did exit that way?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Because I've got to come over and say goodbye to you,
- 2:59Speaker 2: but then I sneak back in the studio and just
- 3:02Speaker 2: go out.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'll let you out of my window. Mine opens, too. Okay. Well,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I mean, what's wrong with my window? I'll just go out. Oh,
- 3:07Speaker 1: that way I don't have to come back over? You
- 3:08Speaker 1: won't have to come back. Ooh, that's a good idea.
- 3:11Speaker 1: And everybody will think it's magic. What happened to Michael?
- 3:14Speaker 2: Did you ever do that back in the day when
- 3:16Speaker 2: you were a kid? Did you ever, as a teenager,
- 3:19Speaker 2: escape out of your window to go out with your buddies?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Not that I recall, no. Honestly, I've made a lot
- 3:27Speaker 1: about me being a kid and how much of a
- 3:29Speaker 1: poophead I was. Yeah. But really, at the end of
- 3:32Speaker 1: the day, I was a pretty good kid. Were you?
- 3:36Speaker 1: I was never one to want to defy my parents. Oh,
- 3:39Speaker 1: it's not defying you. Oh, so you think sneaking out
- 3:42Speaker 1: in the middle of the night is defying your parents? Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 1: and I never really wanted to do that.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I don't think that's... See, I don't see that as
- 3:48Speaker 2: defying your parents. I think that's just good-hearted fun to
- 3:51Speaker 2: go out and have some fun. No, it's not, because
- 3:52Speaker 2: when you should know this, being a dad now.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yes. What would have been your mindset had you walked
- 3:58Speaker 1: into Max's room when he was like six? Not six.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I'm talking about a teenager. Let's say a little older
- 4:05Speaker 1: than that. What if you walk into his room, he's
- 4:07Speaker 1: supposed to be sleeping, he's 12 years old, and he's
- 4:10Speaker 1: just gone?
- 4:11Speaker 2: I was livid when Mason did it not too long ago.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Not too long ago?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. He's a grown man. If he wants to,
- 4:18Speaker 1: he should be able to. I think he was 18
- 4:20Speaker 1: or 19. Oh, then you shouldn't have been livid.
- 4:22Speaker 2: And he went to a, oh, yes, I was because
- 4:25Speaker 2: he went to a friend of mine's farm to go
- 4:28Speaker 2: cow tipping.
- 4:29Speaker 1: People still do that? Oh, he and his buddies did. Oh, yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 2: That's borderline dumb. Well, that's what I thought. Middle of
- 4:37Speaker 2: the night and you're going cow tipping? With a 24-pack?
- 4:41Speaker 1: I mean, come on.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I wasn't happy about that. So, yeah, I chewed
- 4:45Speaker 2: out him and his two big buddies.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And they remind me of it today, that they were
- 4:51Speaker 2: scared to death of me. I told them to not
- 4:54Speaker 2: come back to our house until I said so.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I would have loved to seen you. Oh, really? I
- 4:59Speaker 1: would have loved to seen you.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Oh, so you think I can't be taken seriously as
- 5:03Speaker 2: a mad father?
- 5:05Speaker 1: No, I just, I can't really picture you mad. Oh,
- 5:07Speaker 1: can you not really? No. That's a good thing. I
- 5:09Speaker 1: take that as a compliment. Yeah, I just, I mean,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I can try, but no, I can't picture you being mad.
- 5:14Speaker 1: By the way.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Because I was telling you, my buddy has, he's got
- 5:18Speaker 2: some really nice land, 100 some odd acres out in Prospect.
- 5:21Speaker 2: But he has cows on his farm. And I was
- 5:24Speaker 2: watching a video this morning of a gentleman that was
- 5:27Speaker 2: a cow farmer. And he was feeding his cattle apples
- 5:32Speaker 2: and then petting them on the head, acting like he
- 5:34Speaker 2: loved them.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Which I'm sure he does.
- 5:37Speaker 2: But could you be a cow farmer knowing that not
- 5:40Speaker 2: too long in the near future, future that cow is
- 5:43Speaker 2: going to be hamburger meat to somebody?
- 5:45Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, because you're feeding America. What?
- 5:48Speaker 2: You're feeding them who? You're feeding America. Oh, I thought
- 5:52Speaker 2: you said you're feeding them Erica. It's like, who's Erica? No,
- 5:55Speaker 2: but I mean, you're feeding America. Isn't that something pretty noble?
- 5:59Speaker 2: Something to be proud of?
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah, but one minute you're petting it and giving it
- 6:03Speaker 1: some treats, and the next minute you're getting rid of
- 6:06Speaker 1: it because you're going to eat it that night. I mean, I...
- 6:08Speaker 1: I don't know. It just sounded kind of brutal to me.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I don't think I could... As much as I love animals,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I don't think I could do that at all. I mean,
- 6:16Speaker 1: when I was a kid, I mean, I'm talking really,
- 6:19Speaker 1: really young. Right. Probably five, six. My grandparents had pigs,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and I specifically remember I would roll around in the
- 6:26Speaker 1: pen with them knowing... That's disgusting. Darn well what was
- 6:30Speaker 1: going to happen to him. Wait a minute. You rolled
- 6:33Speaker 1: around in the pig pen. I loved the pigs. That's disgusting.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I was a kid. I didn't care. But they used
- 6:40Speaker 1: the bathroom in that pen. I mean, I don't know
- 6:42Speaker 1: if I realized that at the time. Do you realize
- 6:45Speaker 1: it now? And do you think that was gross? No. Wow.
- 6:49Speaker 1: That is something I would never do. If you want
- 6:51Speaker 1: me to go down the rabbit hole of gross, disgusting
- 6:54Speaker 1: things I did as a kid without even thinking, then
- 6:57Speaker 1: we could fill two hours.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you told me just a couple of days ago
- 7:00Speaker 2: that you were drinking water out of a creek. I mean,
- 7:02Speaker 2: it's like, and your brother's probably up a creek going.
- 7:05Speaker 1: To the bathroom. No big deal. Okay. No big deal.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Okay, there you go. I would never roll it around
- 7:13Speaker 2: in a pig pen. Even as a kid, I had
- 7:16Speaker 2: no interest in rolling around a pig pen.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Speaking of farming cows, I read an interesting article earlier
- 7:22Speaker 1: this week. Interesting, okay. Did you know or are you
- 7:25Speaker 1: aware how much ostrich farming has taken off? No, I
- 7:29Speaker 1: am not.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Now, I know over the past 30 years, ostrich eggs
- 7:34Speaker 2: have become a thing, but no, go ahead.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Well, people are, so farmer, there's a lot of people
- 7:40Speaker 1: out there, whether it's an illness from a tick or whatnot,
- 7:43Speaker 1: they can't eat red meat. What? Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Because you got a tick, you cannot eat red meat now?
- 7:50Speaker 1: There is a certain type of tick disease that, yeah,
- 7:55Speaker 1: you can't eat red meat anymore.
- 7:56Speaker 2: It's not Lyme disease, is it? I don't think so.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I don't think so either because you can get Lyme
- 8:01Speaker 2: disease from ticks. I didn't know you can't. So what
- 8:04Speaker 2: happens if you eat red meat then? That I don't
- 8:07Speaker 2: know because I've never experienced it. All right, so go
- 8:10Speaker 2: back to the ostrich.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Long story short, somebody along the way- Somebody along the
- 8:14Speaker 1: way figured out that ostrich tastes like beef. Does it really?
- 8:21Speaker 1: People that can't eat red meat will swear up and
- 8:23Speaker 1: down that ostrich tastes like beef. So ostrich farming has
- 8:28Speaker 1: taken off a ton lately. Ostrich tastes like beef. Isn't
- 8:34Speaker 1: that crazy? I wonder if they can eat buffalo, bison.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I would say not, right? Because wouldn't it be red meat?
- 8:41Speaker 1: I don't know. Is it red meat? I would say.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I love it. Have you ever had bison before? Yeah,
- 8:46Speaker 1: bison burger. It is good. But okay, that's... So now
- 8:51Speaker 1: I've got this weird thing where I want to try ostrich.
- 8:55Speaker 1: But I don't know... Oh, I would try it. I
- 8:56Speaker 1: don't know if I could actually do it. Really? Oh,
- 8:59Speaker 1: I could. They're cute. Oh, ostriches are hideous. Are you
- 9:03Speaker 1: kidding me? No, they're cute. And I always heard ostrich
- 9:06Speaker 1: was mean. They are kind of mean, yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Okay, so if the thing's coming after you, a mean ostrich,
- 9:12Speaker 2: you don't want to turn around and say, dude, I'm
- 9:13Speaker 2: eating you for tonight.
- 9:15Speaker 1: That's what exactly I would do.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I'd chop that long neck off and let it run
- 9:19Speaker 2: around a little more, and then let's have dinner.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Wow, it tastes like beef. I think they're cute, though. No,
- 9:26Speaker 1: I don't. I've never thought. Now, shoe bills? No, not
- 9:30Speaker 1: so much. Shoebills? Are you familiar with a shoebill? No,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I've never. You're teaching me all kinds of stuff today.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Look it up. Look up a shoebill. How do you
- 9:41Speaker 1: spell it? Shoebill. I mean, pretty self-explanatory. Oh, yes. I
- 9:46Speaker 1: know what that is. That has got to be the
- 9:48Speaker 1: freakiest bird walking planet Earth. It looks prehistoric. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Why are you bringing up shoebill? I was just saying
- 9:56Speaker 1: they're scarier than ostriches to me. I don't know. know
- 10:00Speaker 1: about that.
- 10:00Speaker 2: My wife was watching a video last night on Facebook.
- 10:03Speaker 2: She's like, I want one.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I want one. I'm like, what do you want? She goes,
- 10:07Speaker 1: I want a goat.
- 10:09Speaker 2: She was watching this lady down in Tennessee that she's
- 10:11Speaker 2: addicted to that has a farm down there and they
- 10:13Speaker 2: have all kinds of animals and they were having baby goats.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Goats are cool. Are they? I like goats. I don't know.
- 10:20Speaker 2: What is outside of a dog or a cat? If
- 10:25Speaker 2: you ever wanted to have a pet, what would it be?
- 10:29Speaker 1: A monkey. Oh my gosh. Thank you, Elvis. Yeah. You
- 10:33Speaker 1: would want a monkey. Absolutely. Hmm. Or if not a monkey,
- 10:38Speaker 1: I've always kind of had a thing for raccoons as well.
- 10:42Speaker 1: That's exactly where I would be going, I think. I
- 10:45Speaker 1: think having a raccoon could be a lot. Or as
- 10:46Speaker 1: my son says, raking. Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 2: You know, Michael Jackson was famous for having a monkey.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Elvis Presley, we all know, had a monkey. But it
- 10:55Speaker 2: seems like, because there's a guy that has a raccoon
- 10:59Speaker 2: that he adopted as a baby, and it follows him everywhere.
- 11:01Speaker 1: And I'm like, that's pretty cool. Yeah, but I don't
- 11:04Speaker 1: want one of those little monkeys that they had. Do
- 11:07Speaker 1: you remember Coco, the talking gorilla? No. I would want
- 11:09Speaker 1: something like that. Oh, you want a gorilla? The gorilla.
- 11:13Speaker 1: That's not a monkey. That's a gorilla. Robin Williams had
- 11:15Speaker 1: the relationship with it. You don't remember Coco? No, I
- 11:18Speaker 1: didn't know that. Yeah, she knew, like, hundreds and hundreds
- 11:21Speaker 1: of words. How? They just taught her like sign language, basically. Oh,
- 11:26Speaker 1: they did? Okay. I was going to say, it was talking. Okay,
- 11:30Speaker 1: K-O-K-O is Coco? Correct. And it knew Robin Williams? Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 1: they had a relationship. Really? Yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Okay, this is the most information you've ever given me
- 11:43Speaker 2: that I had no idea about.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Oh, if we're talking animals, I could go on and on.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Could you really? I love animals. Okay, I'm glad. Honestly,
- 11:50Speaker 1: Should probably be working at the zoo. There was a
- 11:53Speaker 1: nurse at one of the hospitals. I think it was Audubon. No.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Might have been over in New Albany at the hospital
- 12:00Speaker 2: over there, and she volunteered at the zoo every year.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I think that would be so awesome. Really? Even if
- 12:06Speaker 1: you were doing something just like working in the kitchen,
- 12:09Speaker 1: prepping their meals, you know? Yeah. I think that would
- 12:11Speaker 1: even be a blast. Yeah.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think I would want to have
- 12:14Speaker 2: one as a pet, but it would be kind of
- 12:16Speaker 2: cool to– Have a relationship. You know, let me rephrase this.
- 12:21Speaker 2: To have a friendship.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Friendship with a gorilla or an orangutan or something like that.
- 12:28Speaker 1: That would be cool. Snakes? No, not doing that. I
- 12:31Speaker 1: could deal with a snake. Not doing insects. Nope. Nope.
- 12:35Speaker 1: None of that. So, anyway. Just wild. I mean, here
- 12:40Speaker 1: we go again. All right.
- 12:41Speaker 2: So it was released yesterday. The amount of money that colleges,
- 12:46Speaker 2: universities are spending on their football teams.
- 12:50Speaker 1: A lot of money. Yeah. And I mean, you're exactly correct.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I mean, a lot of money. All right. So I'm
- 13:00Speaker 1: assuming you talked a little bit about it on your show.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I did. All right. Of course, the top teams. I
- 13:05Speaker 1: don't know.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Are we surprised by the top teams? I don't think
- 13:08Speaker 2: I am.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Not necessarily. I mean, now, Oregon, the way that they
- 13:12Speaker 1: have played to start this year, that kind of surprised me. Exactly.
- 13:15Speaker 2: So, Texas, Ohio State, and Oregon have reported to have
- 13:19Speaker 2: spent over $ 50 million. Now, with Oregon not turning out
- 13:25Speaker 2: to be quite the team after spending all that kind
- 13:27Speaker 2: of money, don't you think that puts... even more pressure
- 13:31Speaker 2: on the head coach and if they have a general manager?
- 13:36Speaker 1: How so?
- 13:38Speaker 2: Because where did my money go to to see a
- 13:41Speaker 2: losing team? You spend $ 50 million and you're only one
- 13:46Speaker 2: of three teams that spent that much. To me, that
- 13:49Speaker 2: should almost guarantee that you're going to have a very
- 13:52Speaker 2: good season. So that's what I'm talking about. And now
- 13:56Speaker 2: that Oregon's having just an okay season, Don't you think
- 14:00Speaker 2: that'll make donors say, you know what, I don't think
- 14:06Speaker 2: I'm going to give it because it didn't turn out
- 14:07Speaker 2: well last year. I just think with all this money
- 14:12Speaker 2: being sent, it's going to put even more pressure on
- 14:16Speaker 2: the coaching staffs at these universities.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Go ahead. I mean, maybe so, but in Oregon's case...
- 14:21Speaker 1: they've still got plenty of time to turn it around. Oh,
- 14:24Speaker 1: this year, yes. If you told me at the end
- 14:26Speaker 1: of the year that they were sitting at 11-1 or 10-2,
- 14:28Speaker 1: that wouldn't necessarily surprise me.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Well, and maybe I should clarify it a little more.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I'm talking about when the season's over and done and
- 14:36Speaker 2: you have spent 40 million or more, and you have
- 14:41Speaker 2: three or four losses. Don't you think that should put
- 14:44Speaker 2: a lot more pressure and it's going to, you're going
- 14:46Speaker 2: to see coaches exit a lot quicker because they're going
- 14:49Speaker 2: to be dismissed knowing that, Hey man, we're getting generated
- 14:52Speaker 2: all this money for you to go spend on players
- 14:54Speaker 2: and you're not producing it a successful team.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe so. I think it will. I really do.
- 15:00Speaker 1: It's hard to tell. Really? Yeah. It's, it's, Good for IU.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I mean, IU is just under $ 40 million. Tennessee spent
- 15:10Speaker 2: over $ 40 million. Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Texas A & M, Miami,
- 15:15Speaker 2: and LSU. And are you surprised about Texas Tech?
- 15:20Speaker 1: No. They get that old money down there, don't they?
- 15:23Speaker 1: If I'm surprised at all about Texas Tech, it's that
- 15:26Speaker 1: they're not higher. Oh, really? Yeah. I was surprised.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Where is Alabama getting this money? Because they're right at
- 15:33Speaker 2: $ 40 million. question there's there's not a that that's not
- 15:38Speaker 2: a big populated unless they get some more famous people
- 15:41Speaker 2: that went to university alabama maybe it's coming from former
- 15:44Speaker 2: athletes i i just simply don't know.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Did you see who was last on the list.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Boston college yeah yeah makes sense right less than 10
- 15:53Speaker 2: million dollars i mean they they just don't give a
- 15:56Speaker 2: flip do they no you scared me yeah Oh.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I'm sorry. No, no, I'm not. That's not my style.
- 16:03Speaker 1: You know that. No. Yeah, no, no, no, no. The
- 16:06Speaker 1: way that started, I was like, oh, no. But the
- 16:09Speaker 1: other one was Duke. I thought Duke would have spent
- 16:11Speaker 1: a little more money. Mm-hmm. Well, they spend all theirs
- 16:15Speaker 1: on basketball, probably. You think so? Okay, yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 2: We're going to talk about Duke basketball in a little bit, too.
- 16:20Speaker 2: So some interesting news came out yesterday. All right, so
- 16:23Speaker 2: University of Kentucky, if you're wondering, has been reported spent
- 16:27Speaker 2: over $ 30 million.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Wow. on Will Stein's first year. This is where.
- 16:34Speaker 2: I heard 23 to 26. I'm sorry, you're right, 23
- 16:37Speaker 2: to 26. So it's just under that $ 30 million amount.
- 16:42Speaker 2: But yeah, 23 to 26. So let's just call it
- 16:45Speaker 2: 24 and a half million. We'll just say that. But
- 16:50Speaker 2: first year, does that concern you that that's the money
- 16:54Speaker 2: that UK generates annually? For a first-year coach, the excitement
- 16:59Speaker 2: is there.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I don't know. Because UK can't sustain being middle of
- 17:07Speaker 1: the pack and expect to be successful in the SEC
- 17:10Speaker 1: when they're only generating, which is still a lot of money,
- 17:13Speaker 1: but still generating only $ 23 to $ 26 million for a
- 17:16Speaker 1: first-year coach. Is that disappointing, do you think? Not at all. Because,
- 17:19Speaker 1: I mean, you expect donors to shell out a ton
- 17:22Speaker 1: of money for a guy that's never been a head coach? So, once...
- 17:27Speaker 1: Once Will Stein goes through this season and proves that
- 17:30Speaker 1: he's got the chops, that number will increase. You think
- 17:33Speaker 1: it will? I do. You do?
- 17:35Speaker 2: I hope you're right, but who's going to be giving
- 17:39Speaker 2: this money on a continuous basis?
- 17:41Speaker 1: I mean, if I had all the money.
- 17:43Speaker 2: In the world, it's just like, okay, I'll give you
- 17:46Speaker 2: some money for one or two years, but then you've
- 17:48Speaker 2: got to go rely on some other people. I mean,
- 17:51Speaker 2: do you think Mark Cuban is going to give forever?
- 17:53Speaker 2: Mike Rapoli is going to give forever. Uh, the Oregon,
- 17:57Speaker 2: maybe Oregon does, but they get the Nike guy out there.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Maybe, I don't know.
- 18:01Speaker 2: North Carolina is lucky because you know, they get, uh,
- 18:05Speaker 2: Michael Jordan, but maybe he's not giving money to North Carolina.
- 18:08Speaker 2: You just go back and you think about all the
- 18:10Speaker 2: successful athletes. Is there any chance John wall to Marcus cousins, uh, uh, Shea, Alexander, Cat,
- 18:22Speaker 2: you think those players are giving back to Kentucky, especially
- 18:25Speaker 2: since John Calipari, their head coach, is not the head
- 18:28Speaker 2: coach at UK anymore?
- 18:29Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, you would think if they were,
- 18:32Speaker 1: that sort of thing would come out, but maybe it's
- 18:35Speaker 1: one of those things where they don't want it to
- 18:37Speaker 1: come out.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I could see them giving back. Well, I'm not asking
- 18:41Speaker 2: for it to come out. I'm just asking, do you
- 18:43Speaker 2: think they will? I think they probably already have.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Oh, do you really? I do. With Mark Pope as
- 18:49Speaker 1: the head coach? Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 2: See, I think John Wall would have. I don't know
- 18:53Speaker 2: who really has the money. Shea could definitely afford it.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Carl Anthony Towns could definitely afford it. I don't know
- 18:59Speaker 2: what kind of money DeMarcus Cousins has anymore, but you
- 19:03Speaker 2: think about all... Did he suggest that he blew through it?
- 19:07Speaker 1: You never know.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I mean, he's still playing, and where he's playing doesn't
- 19:11Speaker 2: make much sense to equate to he still has a
- 19:14Speaker 2: lot of money.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Sure.
- 19:15Speaker 2: That's a good point. It's an assumption, and you know
- 19:19Speaker 2: what assuming does. So I don't want to assume that.
- 19:22Speaker 2: But I'm just curious, does Josh Allen give money? Joshua
- 19:27Speaker 2: Hines Allen?
- 19:28Speaker 1: Oh, come on. Why would Josh Allen.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Give money to Kentucky? He'd probably give it to Wyoming.
- 19:35Speaker 2: You know who I'm talking about. But does he? Does
- 19:37Speaker 2: Randall Cobb? You can go through all these former UK players.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Do you think that UK goes to them and asks them?
- 19:45Speaker 2: I would say yes.
- 19:47Speaker 1: But I don't know for certain. I would say no. Really?
- 19:49Speaker 1: i wouldn't see the university reaching out to them.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I don't see why not they're reaching out to people
- 19:55Speaker 2: that didn't play kentucky so just because you played at
- 19:58Speaker 2: kentucky why can't you ask former athletes maybe i mean
- 20:01Speaker 2: i don't that's the thing i don't know anything about
- 20:04Speaker 2: how all this i don't either nor do i want
- 20:06Speaker 2: to and i don't want to be a part of
- 20:07Speaker 2: it you wouldn't want to You wouldn't want to read
- 20:11Speaker 2: an article about how all this is going down across
- 20:14Speaker 2: the landscape of college sports.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Because I would. I think that stuff is fascinating.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Well, listen, with the athletic that came out with this
- 20:21Speaker 2: article yesterday, I bet they're trying to find out without
- 20:26Speaker 2: a doubt. And certainly we found out about something yesterday
- 20:30Speaker 2: about a former coach, With his former team. And I
- 20:35Speaker 2: want to talk about that next as soon as we
- 20:37Speaker 2: get back. It has finally come out. Somebody has completely
- 20:41Speaker 2: admitted it. We're going to talk about it next on
- 20:44Speaker 2: Just the Cats.
- 20:45Speaker 1: 502. That's a tease. How do you like that? Yes.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I am a tease. 502-384-1450.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Why did you just get me all excited for a second?
- 20:53Speaker 2: 502-414-1450 as well on the Whiskey Thief text line. We'll
- 20:57Speaker 2: get to your text, too, when we get back. Stay
- 21:00Speaker 2: right there.
- 21:00Speaker 1: More of Just the Cats coming right up on this Thursday.
- 21:06Speaker 1: My baby meets me after five and nine. She's always
- 21:10Speaker 1: right on time. We roll all our cares away. It's
- 21:19Speaker 1: rag-top day. She's got a ballpark figure. He's got a
- 21:39Speaker 1: ballpoint pen. Travel around for weeks at a time. Writing
- 21:46Speaker 1: down descriptions of the places they've been. She plays guitar,
- 21:50Speaker 1: but nothing fancy. With no intention of becoming a star.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Only thing that's bothering him these days is where he's
- 22:01Speaker 1: going to find a good 10-cent cigar. You're going old
- 22:04Speaker 1: school now. This cliche, then you went rag-top day. I
- 22:08Speaker 1: love this. I mean, you are digging deep for some
- 22:11Speaker 1: songs now with Jimmy Buffett. I am.
- 22:13Speaker 2: And I love the fact that you're doing that. Cliches
- 22:15Speaker 2: is a great song, by the way.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a fan. But, yeah, 10-cent cigar. I mean,
- 22:19Speaker 1: come on, man. Good old days. Exactly.
- 22:23Speaker 2: One song, I think he talks about, like, a 35-cent
- 22:26Speaker 2: beer or something like that. He's like, okay, you know
- 22:29Speaker 2: these are old songs. But, yeah, yeah. But, anyway, don't
- 22:34Speaker 2: ever play, well, you know which one's not to play.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Why don't we get drunk? And the other one, huh?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Why?
- 22:42Speaker 2: You're joking, right? No, is he cuss every other word? Well,
- 22:46Speaker 2: it's why don't we get drunk and, yeah, yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 1: So there you go. Play with a certain tool. So, yeah.
- 22:54Speaker 2: And then the other one is West Nashville is another one.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Do not play. Yeah, because there is at one point
- 23:04Speaker 2: he says the worst word you can say. So there
- 23:06Speaker 2: you go. So, yeah, don't ever play that.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Isn't that an opinion? West Nashville Grand Ballroom gown. That's it.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Isn't that an opinion? What do you mean? About that
- 23:15Speaker 1: being the worst word. Oh, okay. Well, it's a no-no
- 23:20Speaker 1: on the radio. Can I say that? Yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 2: So, yeah, you can't say the word he says in
- 23:25Speaker 2: West Nashville Grand Ballroom gown on the radio.
- 23:29Speaker 1: So, yeah. Okay.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Just have to be careful with those two. But I
- 23:33Speaker 2: don't care if you want to play it. Go ahead
- 23:35Speaker 2: and play it. More power to you. I'd love to.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Nothing like 8 o'clock in the morning and you hear,
- 23:39Speaker 2: why don't we get drunk and hmm.
- 23:42Speaker 1: That would be fantastic.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I mean, there's probably a number of people out there
- 23:45Speaker 2: would probably appreciate that song about now.
- 23:47Speaker 1: All the kids are already in school, right?
- 23:49Speaker 2: Okay, well, then make it a 9 o'clock song. Just
- 23:52Speaker 2: go ahead and play it. We've got all these people
- 23:54Speaker 2: here trying to raise money for something over there, so
- 23:57Speaker 2: they might appreciate it.
- 23:58Speaker 1: You just never know. Maybe. That one of their other
- 24:00Speaker 1: radio stations played a song. You know what?
- 24:04Speaker 2: I'm going to make that my suggestion today. Why don't
- 24:06Speaker 2: you play Why Don't We Get Trucked today?
- 24:07Speaker 1: I probably won't. Okay? And you know what?
- 24:10Speaker 2: I'm going to order like four or five 24-packs of beer,
- 24:13Speaker 2: and let's just all celebrate while we're trying to raise money.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So there you go. He's texting me, but anyway, I'll
- 24:19Speaker 1: get back to that later. He's been a big, big
- 24:20Speaker 1: X-Fan today. Oh, has he really? Yeah, he texted me
- 24:23Speaker 1: this morning. Oh, he did? Yeah. I'm surprised. I had
- 24:26Speaker 1: him back. I was like, Roush, I didn't even know
- 24:28Speaker 1: you listened.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Well, I asked him to fill in for me next week,
- 24:32Speaker 2: and he goes, sorry, Michael, to be candid, I got
- 24:34Speaker 2: a lot of mm going on.
- 24:36Speaker 1: And I'm like, I get it. I know you do.
- 24:39Speaker 1: And then he goes, I did 11 shows last week. What? Yeah.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And realized I got to say no every now and then. Yeah.
- 24:47Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah. That's probably the only thing he says
- 24:49Speaker 1: no to because his wife is saying no to him
- 24:51Speaker 1: all the time. But anyway. Couldn't tell by the number
- 24:54Speaker 1: of kids. Get ready to say, how many kids do
- 24:57Speaker 1: they have now? 15? They're at three. I'm honestly, I'm
- 25:01Speaker 1: surprised we haven't heard about number four yet. Oh, really?
- 25:03Speaker 1: I thought that would have been here. Are they Catholic? Yep.
- 25:07Speaker 1: So there you go. That's why. Yeah, Catholic families have
- 25:10Speaker 1: big families, don't they? Is that still a thing with
- 25:12Speaker 1: Catholic families? I think so. I know it is with Mormons. Yeah,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I mean, I got a. I got some friends on
- 25:18Speaker 1: Facebook that I know from back in the day from
- 25:20Speaker 1: Catholic stuff. And they've really they just had their fifth kid.
- 25:23Speaker 1: And I don't think they're slowing down. Wow. I bet
- 25:28Speaker 1: they have eight or nine.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Well, see, my my dad always because my dad was
- 25:31Speaker 2: one of 12. My dad was says we weren't Catholic.
- 25:34Speaker 2: We were just sexy Methodist. And I never understood that joke.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Of course, I've told you that joke before. Everybody just
- 25:41Speaker 2: like you. Everybody laughs at that joke. I don't get
- 25:43Speaker 2: why it's funny.
- 25:45Speaker 1: But anyway, everybody did laugh at it. All right.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I do want to talk about Jay Williams for a
- 25:49Speaker 2: second because.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I thought this was interesting.
- 25:52Speaker 2: He was on a podcast yesterday called the front office sports.
- 25:57Speaker 2: And did you see this?
- 25:58Speaker 1: You did. I did. Okay. Jay Williams made the comment.
- 26:02Speaker 2: We all participated in the black duffel bags of cash
- 26:07Speaker 2: before the NIL era. Did he just admit that Mike Krzyzewski, a.k.a.
- 26:16Speaker 2: the rat face, gave money to players?
- 26:19Speaker 1: It seems like it, yeah. No seems about it. I mean,
- 26:24Speaker 1: that to me is an absolute confirmation right there. But
- 26:27Speaker 1: did that shock you? No, absolutely not.
- 26:30Speaker 2: What shocks me is to believe that people believe that
- 26:33Speaker 2: he never did that. Krzyzewski never did. He was the
- 26:37Speaker 2: most honest coach out there and everybody wanted to come
- 26:41Speaker 2: to Duke just to play for him and to have
- 26:44Speaker 2: that Duke jersey, which is just total.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I mean, that's just ignorance. If people actually think that, like,
- 26:49Speaker 1: if you don't think that, nefarious stuff is going on
- 26:52Speaker 1: across the board in college athletics, then that's a you problem.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Because it's very clear that this stuff has gone on
- 26:59Speaker 1: for many, many years, even before the NIL stuff and
- 27:02Speaker 1: all that. I mean, it's always happened. Yes.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I was not surprised. I was just surprised that Jay
- 27:07Speaker 2: Williams said this, though.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I'm not. He's kind of a moron. Is he really?
- 27:11Speaker 1: I mean, I guess he thinks it's okay that he
- 27:14Speaker 1: can come out and say it now because it's legal
- 27:18Speaker 1: and everybody's getting paid. But probably something that you should
- 27:21Speaker 1: have held to yourself. Well, I don't think it's the
- 27:24Speaker 1: jerk side of it. I've always kind of liked Jay Williams.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I don't have a problem with him. I'm not a
- 27:27Speaker 2: big Jay Williams fan. I'm a Billis fan as well.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I like Billis. All right.
- 27:32Speaker 2: But it just seems like Jay Williams is one of
- 27:36Speaker 2: Krzyzewski's pride and joys.
- 27:38Speaker 1: You think he got a phone call after this? Oh, man.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I would love to know if he did or not.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I'd love to hear it. I would, too.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Because you know it's going to come out for Nick
- 27:50Speaker 2: Saban next. And I know a friend of mine has
- 27:53Speaker 2: been offered money to him before the whole NIL.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I mean, this stuff goes on at every level of sports. Yes.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So nobody should be surprised when he comes out and
- 28:03Speaker 1: says that yesterday. I certainly wasn't. I mean, I don't
- 28:07Speaker 1: think I've told this story on air, but I may
- 28:09Speaker 1: have told you off air. But, I mean, I saw
- 28:11Speaker 1: it at the high school level down in Jacksonville. So
- 28:14Speaker 1: high school level, it's going on at high school. I
- 28:16Speaker 1: know for a fact in the college ranks. Oh my gosh. That's,
- 28:21Speaker 1: that's really interesting. I, okay. There you go. I'll have
- 28:25Speaker 1: to tell you that sometimes. Yeah. You'll, you will have
- 28:26Speaker 1: to tell me, but I just, I, the Nick Saban's
- 28:29Speaker 1: going to come out next. It is.
- 28:31Speaker 2: And then everybody's going to laugh at him because he
- 28:33Speaker 2: didn't think that comedian was funny and he was all
- 28:36Speaker 2: about integrity BS. No offense, but yeah, all the offense
- 28:40Speaker 2: in the world. I'm calling you out, Nick Saban. You
- 28:43Speaker 2: gave money to players.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Should a former coach actually even be worried about that nowadays? No,
- 28:50Speaker 1: nothing's going to happen to him. Guys, we were just
- 28:52Speaker 1: ahead of the curve. We saw this coming. We knew
- 28:54Speaker 1: players were eventually going to get paid and So we
- 28:57Speaker 1: just did what we had to do to secure, secure them.
- 28:59Speaker 2: And to all the U of L fans out there,
- 29:02Speaker 2: IU fans that are calling, calling Kentucky did the same thing.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Of course they did. Everybody did the same thing.
- 29:07Speaker 2: So you're not, it's funny. One of my friends would
- 29:10Speaker 2: always say, Michael, you know, Kentucky did it too.
- 29:12Speaker 1: And I'm like, I know that. I mean, are you
- 29:15Speaker 1: offending me? They all did it. Okay. I'm sure there
- 29:19Speaker 1: were exceptions, but like John Beeline in Michigan, always heard
- 29:23Speaker 1: that he, he ran a super clean program. But, I mean,
- 29:27Speaker 1: outside of him, I would venture to say 98% of
- 29:31Speaker 1: coaches cheated in some way, shape, or form by giving
- 29:34Speaker 1: players money. Oh, yeah. So, I mean, does this give
- 29:37Speaker 1: you a new outlook? What was the.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I can't think of the name of the shipping company
- 29:43Speaker 2: that had that money that all of a sudden opened
- 29:47Speaker 2: up and it was coming from UK, going to a player.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I always found that odd that all of a sudden
- 29:55Speaker 2: a cache of money opens up. With a carrier, a
- 29:58Speaker 2: delivery carrier. I always question that. But, I mean, no offense.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I'm sorry if you're going to get mad at me,
- 30:06Speaker 2: UK fans. But I'm a diehard UK fan. UK was
- 30:10Speaker 2: doing the same thing. Just come out and say it.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I kind of regret it now. I wish I had.
- 30:18Speaker 2: I don't know if I'd gotten an honest answer, though.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I had asked Coach Hall if he did any improprietaries
- 30:25Speaker 2: out there. Because I got to believe he, Denny Crum, did.
- 30:29Speaker 2: John Calipari did. Eddie Sutton did. I mean, come on.
- 30:35Speaker 2: You just can't tell me any different.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Literally all of them. Yeah. Rick Pitino. Yeah. But anyway.
- 30:41Speaker 1: All right. Let's get to the Whiskey Thief text line. 502-414-1450.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Buzz texted in and said, I didn't sneak out through
- 30:49Speaker 2: the window, but I did sneak in that way.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Ooh. So how'd you get out then, Buzz? I didn't
- 30:56Speaker 1: sneak out of the window. He must have came home
- 30:58Speaker 1: too late, is what it was. Oh, really? He must
- 31:01Speaker 1: have come home? Probably he missed curfew, and that's why
- 31:04Speaker 1: he had to come in there. I was sleeping the
- 31:06Speaker 1: whole time. What are you talking about, Mom? Yeah, right.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I would sneak out. So my parents had a home
- 31:12Speaker 1: where we had a basement with a walkout, and I
- 31:15Speaker 1: would sneak out, but I had to turn the alarm off.
- 31:19Speaker 2: I mean, they could hear me. I think they could
- 31:21Speaker 2: hear me turn the alarm off. I would go downstairs
- 31:23Speaker 2: and go out the sliding door and then take off. Now,
- 31:26Speaker 2: they couldn't hear me start the car or anything because
- 31:28Speaker 2: their bedroom is at the opposite end of the house.
- 31:31Speaker 2: And then I'd go out. We would be completely innocent.
- 31:36Speaker 2: I'd go pick up my buddy. We'd go to White
- 31:38Speaker 2: Castle because that's what you did at 1230, 1 o'clock
- 31:43Speaker 2: in the morning. I would crave White Castle and a
- 31:45Speaker 2: Big Red. And then we would drop the trash off
- 31:48Speaker 2: at my girlfriend's front door. I don't know why we
- 31:51Speaker 2: would do that, but... Just the trash? Just the trash.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Man, you were a great boyfriend. You couldn't even bring
- 31:57Speaker 1: her a slider? Well, she wasn't up. She was sleeping.
- 32:00Speaker 1: I know. I'd try to wake her up, but she
- 32:01Speaker 1: wouldn't wake up. Leave her there for the morning? Yeah,
- 32:03Speaker 1: I did.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Her dad didn't much care for me. I couldn't imagine why.
- 32:07Speaker 2: I don't think he much cares for me still today.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Every now and then, I run into him, and he
- 32:11Speaker 2: just kind of gives me this look.
- 32:13Speaker 1: It's like, dude... This is 45 years later. You're the
- 32:16Speaker 1: little bleep head that left trash on the floor. Well,
- 32:18Speaker 1: maybe that's the case. Wouldn't that make you mad? I
- 32:22Speaker 1: don't know. I think it'd just make me laugh. Oh,
- 32:24Speaker 1: would it? Oh, yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Because it was politely put in the bag. I mean,
- 32:29Speaker 2: it's not like I left it all scattered all around.
- 32:32Speaker 2: It was politely left in the bag. Yeah, but they
- 32:35Speaker 2: have to deal with it now.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Okay. All because you want to be juvenile. I just want, yeah, well,
- 32:40Speaker 1: I was a juvenile.
- 32:42Speaker 2: So, Podcast Random Thoughts Guy said, between our taste in
- 32:47Speaker 2: breakfast foods and our sleeping prowess, I think we might
- 32:51Speaker 2: be related somehow, Scoots.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Who's that from? PRTG. Oh, that's scary. What is your
- 32:58Speaker 1: breakfast taste? I just want savory. And I'm not a
- 33:03Speaker 1: sweet guy for breakfast. Yeah, I'm not either. Oh, I
- 33:05Speaker 1: can't stand sweets. All right. Cinnamon rolls. What else? Waffles.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I don't like sweets for breakfast. I mean, I can
- 33:15Speaker 2: eat all that. I just prefer not. The thought of
- 33:17Speaker 2: eating a donut for breakfast. I like those in the afternoon.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Now, I will have a donut tomorrow. That's my only
- 33:22Speaker 1: exception to sweet breakfast. I have one every Friday.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Uh, PRTG also said, uh, my friends and I used
- 33:28Speaker 2: to crawl through the sewers in our neighborhood looking for Pennywise.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Pretty gross in hindsight.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Yuck. What is Pennywise? The clown. Oh, gross. The it clown, right? Yeah. Uh-huh.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Seriously, I, uh, podcast random thoughts guy, you really crawl
- 33:46Speaker 2: through the sewers?
- 33:47Speaker 1: That's pretty gross. That is gross. That's, that's something I
- 33:52Speaker 1: would have never done. But, uh.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Anyway, all right, we got to take another break. I'll
- 33:56Speaker 2: get back to your text in just a couple of minutes.
- 33:59Speaker 1: As soon as we get back on the show. Today
- 34:00Speaker 1: is going so fast. Oh, clearly.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I mean, I haven't even gone through a quarter of
- 34:07Speaker 2: what I've written down today.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I feel like I just woke up, and here it
- 34:10Speaker 1: is almost 9 o'clock. I know it. I'm sorry about that.
- 34:12Speaker 1: That's just fine by you. You're right.
- 34:14Speaker 2: But anyway, we got a couple other UK things I
- 34:16Speaker 2: want to talk about. Plus, Travis Kelsey's in the news
- 34:20Speaker 2: and not for a complimentary reason. I don't know if
- 34:23Speaker 2: you saw this or not. We're going to talk about
- 34:25Speaker 2: it when we get back as well.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Stay right there. More Jessica's. She never did make her debut.
- 34:34Speaker 1: He never made it to class. She's 86 from the
- 34:39Speaker 1: chart room. He's 29 and pushing 30 real fast. They're
- 34:45Speaker 1: funny when they get to rocking. Going out for a
- 34:49Speaker 1: night on the town. Frank and Lola. That's right. Sounds
- 35:04Speaker 1: like a song that should be in Toy Story. Oh, really?
- 35:30Speaker 1: It does? Yeah. You know, it'll be interesting to see
- 35:33Speaker 1: if any of his music is used for future movies
- 35:38Speaker 1: or not. You know, that's one of the things I
- 35:40Speaker 1: think movies do a really good job with, for the
- 35:44Speaker 1: most part. They'll go back and find old songs that
- 35:47Speaker 1: fit to a scene, and it's like, oh, that's so cool. Like,
- 35:51Speaker 1: Wedding Crashers did that. where they would find some old,
- 35:55Speaker 1: old songs and put them into the movie, and I
- 35:57Speaker 1: thought that was really cool. But anyway, one person asked,
- 36:02Speaker 1: so did Louisville deserve to have the championship stripped?
- 36:06Speaker 2: Does it matter? It'll be back soon enough. This is,
- 36:11Speaker 2: all right, you're going to disagree with me now, Justin.
- 36:16Speaker 2: But we're going to talk about this for a second.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I do.
- 36:20Speaker 2: I think it was deserved because it was kind of
- 36:21Speaker 2: a gross thing what they were doing. It wasn't just
- 36:24Speaker 2: the money. It was the whole the girls that were
- 36:28Speaker 2: associated with that. I just that's the part that kind
- 36:31Speaker 2: of grosses me out.
- 36:31Speaker 1: I still don't understand how that's a benefit. Having strippers
- 36:36Speaker 1: come and. Yeah, if anything, that's a detriment because you're
- 36:40Speaker 1: getting worn out. Oh, my gosh. Like, how's that a benefit? Wow.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Okay, if you don't see that as a benefit, okay,
- 36:49Speaker 2: more power to you. That was one of the things
- 36:51Speaker 2: back in the day they used to say about BYU.
- 36:54Speaker 2: They would bring certain women to recruit at BYU. Well,
- 36:59Speaker 2: they're not allowed to be with women.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Exactly. That was the thing.
- 37:03Speaker 2: So you wonder, okay, is that somebody just trying to
- 37:06Speaker 2: put a horrific rumor about BYU because of that right there?
- 37:10Speaker 1: Or was it true? I can almost see it going
- 37:13Speaker 1: both ways. It probably was true. Really? You think so? Okay.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I mean, what percentage? Like, do you have to be
- 37:21Speaker 1: Mormon to go to BYU?
- 37:24Speaker 2: I don't think so, but you have to abide by
- 37:26Speaker 2: their rules. And clearly the quarterback a couple of years
- 37:30Speaker 2: ago that transferred to Tulane did not abide by the rules. Uh,
- 37:35Speaker 2: but I mean, that's their rules at the private school.
- 37:38Speaker 2: They can write the rules that they want. Now, if
- 37:41Speaker 2: you want to go there, you got to buy by
- 37:42Speaker 2: their rules. If you, if you're not going to buy
- 37:45Speaker 2: by the rules and my suggestion is don't go there.
- 37:48Speaker 2: So you think all the players that, uh, BYU has
- 37:51Speaker 2: been getting from UK are nothing but Mormons. I don't
- 37:54Speaker 2: think so. I don't think any of them are colonists. Oh,
- 37:57Speaker 2: Colin Chandler definitely is, yes. But I think some of
- 38:00Speaker 2: these other players that they've gotten over UK, I don't
- 38:03Speaker 2: think they are.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Probably not. No, not at all. Good luck trying to
- 38:06Speaker 1: get them to follow the rules. They're not going to
- 38:08Speaker 1: follow the rules. They're just going to get away with it.
- 38:10Speaker 2: But I was kind of surprised that they did not
- 38:13Speaker 2: allow their quarterback to get away. So it makes you
- 38:15Speaker 2: feel like, okay, are they going to continue to enforce
- 38:18Speaker 2: those rules? Because there's a threat of them leaving like
- 38:21Speaker 2: the quarterback did.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Go ahead, Tulane.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Or are they going to make the rules looser for
- 38:26Speaker 2: just the athletes, especially the star athletes?
- 38:30Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure they probably already do. They can't
- 38:34Speaker 1: keep an eye on everybody. No, they can't. I mean, well, yeah.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I just, I don't know. As long as you don't
- 38:42Speaker 1: come into practice smelling like a bottle of vodka, then.
- 38:45Speaker 1: think it's all good but vodka that's the best thing
- 38:47Speaker 1: to drink isn't it doesn't yeah but they can't drink
- 38:50Speaker 1: isn't there doesn't what's the alcohol that doesn't you don't
- 38:53Speaker 1: have any smell when you drink it isn't it vodka
- 38:56Speaker 1: or is it gin i don't know i would assume
- 38:59Speaker 1: i would assume rumple mints because it smells like two
- 39:01Speaker 1: rumple mints i have is that a german thing Maybe.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I've never heard of Rumpelmintz. Have you not? No. Or Goldschlager?
- 39:10Speaker 1: Have you heard of Goldschlager? No. See, you're telling me
- 39:13Speaker 1: German stuff. Goldschlager's definitely German. Really? Yeah, Rumpelmintz is like
- 39:18Speaker 1: a peppermint-flavored liqueur. Liqueur? It tastes like... What's a liqueur?
- 39:23Speaker 1: It tastes like toothpaste. Does it really?
- 39:27Speaker 2: My buddy in college used to drink... peppermint schnapps. He
- 39:31Speaker 2: called it liquid lifesavers. Rumpelmints is basically peppermint schnapps. That
- 39:35Speaker 2: sounds disgusting to me.
- 39:36Speaker 1: And it is a German thing. I would have said
- 39:38Speaker 1: it was just by you saying it. Are you a Jägermeister?
- 39:44Speaker 1: Love Jägermeister. Do you really? I haven't had it in
- 39:47Speaker 1: such a... You know what? Maybe that's what I drink to. Oh,
- 39:49Speaker 1: my God.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Haven't had it in so long. I've had it one time,
- 39:53Speaker 2: and it was the most disgusting thing. It's like black licorice, right?
- 39:56Speaker 1: Oh, it's incredible. No, it's disgusting. I don't like black licorice. Actually,
- 40:01Speaker 1: so the night that I turned 21, you know the
- 40:03Speaker 1: night where you have to go out at midnight because
- 40:05Speaker 1: that's when your birthday actually is? I didn't know that. Oh,
- 40:08Speaker 1: that's kind of fun. So, like, if your birthday is, so, like,
- 40:10Speaker 1: if mine's October 15th, I would go out at midnight
- 40:14Speaker 1: on the 14th because it was technically the 15th. Okay.
- 40:17Speaker 1: And then I could drink. Yeah. I'll never forget. We
- 40:20Speaker 1: drank a whole bottle of Jägermeister before we even got
- 40:24Speaker 1: to the bar. So needless to say, I don't remember
- 40:28Speaker 1: squat from my 21st birthday. How did you get home? Well,
- 40:33Speaker 1: my parents were up there. I think my grandparents were
- 40:35Speaker 1: up there as well. Right. So, yeah, I just left
- 40:38Speaker 1: it in their hands. Oh, my gosh, man. Okay.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll never forget my youngest son going out. We
- 40:45Speaker 2: were in Nashville, Tennessee. He had just turned 21, not
- 40:48Speaker 2: too much earlier. And next thing you know, he's at
- 40:51Speaker 2: a table at the bar with another, it was obviously
- 40:55Speaker 2: a mom and daughter, talking to him, chit-chatting it up.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Next thing you know, he has his head in the
- 41:01Speaker 2: lap of the mom. And the mom's looking at me.
- 41:05Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, my gosh. So I had to go
- 41:07Speaker 2: over there and drag him out and take him back
- 41:09Speaker 2: to the hotel. It's like, what are you doing, dude?
- 41:11Speaker 1: Apparently on mine, I was flirting with a couple twins
- 41:14Speaker 1: because my dad told me the next morning, surprised you
- 41:18Speaker 1: didn't bring those twins home. And I'm like, what twins, dad?
- 41:21Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, you didn't even realize what you were doing.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Didn't even remember them. Yeah, that's what you need. You
- 41:26Speaker 1: need a little liquid encouragement so you can go ask
- 41:28Speaker 1: that girl to dance, okay? Maybe so. I'm never forgetting
- 41:30Speaker 1: that story. I want you to know. You didn't go
- 41:33Speaker 1: ask that girl to dance. What an idiot.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you are an idiot. 48 Handley texted and said,
- 41:38Speaker 2: ostriches are hard to ride when they race them. Most
- 41:42Speaker 2: of the riders fall off before they get to the
- 41:44Speaker 2: finish line. Have you ever seen the ostrich races?
- 41:46Speaker 1: No. You know he's being serious. Oh, I know he is. Yeah.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Can you imagine?
- 41:51Speaker 2: How far do you think you could ride an ostrich?
- 41:55Speaker 2: I think I could get two feet.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I'd probably take an under on that. Oh, you would?
- 41:59Speaker 1: For myself. Oh, for yourself. Okay. And I'm probably there
- 42:03Speaker 1: as well. All right. I got to watch an ostrich
- 42:05Speaker 1: race now. Okay. Do you? Okay. All right. Then there
- 42:07Speaker 1: you go. Go watch your ostrich race. Canterbury Park. Oh,
- 42:10Speaker 1: my gosh. Canterbury Park has ostrich races? What is it?
- 42:14Speaker 1: Saratoga that has the Datsun races? Yeah. Is anybody lasting,
- 42:18Speaker 1: by the way, on the Canterbury Park place? Listen, you're
- 42:21Speaker 1: watching a video literally nobody else can watch and you're
- 42:24Speaker 1: laughing by yourself. It's like the video that you posted
- 42:27Speaker 1: earlier this week of the cars trying to get parked
- 42:29Speaker 1: on the trailer. Oh, I love that. Yes. And you know,
- 42:32Speaker 1: we've never talked about it. Have we? I don't think so. No.
- 42:35Speaker 1: All right.
- 42:36Speaker 2: For you, those of you who don't know, go look
- 42:38Speaker 2: at my tweet, a Twitter account at just a cat radio.
- 42:41Speaker 2: And I put up a video and this is a
- 42:44Speaker 2: real car race. I think it was up in Maine
- 42:46Speaker 2: or something.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Where was it? I don't remember where it was.
- 42:50Speaker 2: It was a demolition car race where all the cars
- 42:53Speaker 2: are following a truck and a trailer. That's that's a
- 42:57Speaker 2: trailering or pulling a trailer. And all the cars are trying.
- 43:01Speaker 2: The point of the race is to get on top
- 43:03Speaker 2: of the trailer. And it was the funnest race to
- 43:07Speaker 2: watch I've ever seen. Oh, I would pay top dollars
- 43:10Speaker 2: to see it in person.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Now, you don't want the first row when you go
- 43:13Speaker 2: to that thing, do you? Because I'm afraid you'd get
- 43:16Speaker 2: hit by a part or by a car or.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Anything out there. I'd take my chances. Oh, my gosh.
- 43:22Speaker 1: That was so awesome to watch. It was funny.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I started going on the old deep dive rabbit hole
- 43:31Speaker 2: and looking for more video of that race. And there
- 43:34Speaker 2: were lots of people that had that race. So literally
- 43:37Speaker 2: it was a demolition pickup truck with a demolition. trailer
- 43:42Speaker 2: it was pulling and all these cars are chasing it
- 43:45Speaker 2: as they're going fast on this track literally trying to
- 43:48Speaker 2: get on the back of the trailer and then he's
- 43:51Speaker 2: like there's this one car it's on it's on it's
- 43:53Speaker 2: on then all of a sudden it falls off.
- 43:55Speaker 1: I mean how do you how did it fall off
- 43:57Speaker 1: I just don't know how you get it to stay
- 43:59Speaker 1: on there you just gotta pull that e-brake one.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Time well see I wonder I wonder once you get
- 44:03Speaker 2: it on top wouldn't you just stop your momentum of
- 44:06Speaker 2: going forward because you're going what 40 miles an hour
- 44:10Speaker 2: at least yeah And you got to put the brakes
- 44:13Speaker 2: on fast as soon as your back wheels get on there.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Don't you think? If it's rear powered. Yeah.
- 44:19Speaker 2: You wouldn't want a front wheel powered vehicle trying to
- 44:22Speaker 2: get on that because you just go straight into the
- 44:24Speaker 2: pickup truck, which would be awesome. I mean, as a spectator,
- 44:27Speaker 2: that would be the thing I would want to see
- 44:28Speaker 2: the most. Just take out the pickup truck. I didn't
- 44:31Speaker 2: even know anything like that existed.
- 44:33Speaker 1: I didn't either. Sign me up.
- 44:37Speaker 2: John here, Michael, as ACDC said, money talks. Look, everyone
- 44:41Speaker 2: is living for the money and they listen to the
- 44:44Speaker 2: money talk. It is as if they forgot about the
- 44:48Speaker 2: history of the programs. It seems like it is now
- 44:52Speaker 2: just about the history of their last payment and where
- 44:56Speaker 2: they can go to get more. I thought the NIL
- 45:00Speaker 2: era was going to be all right. Well, at least
- 45:03Speaker 2: these players can make some money. However, I thought it
- 45:06Speaker 2: would be more like they could go get their own
- 45:09Speaker 2: brand deals. They can now do some commercials and make
- 45:13Speaker 2: some money, something like that. Now, what we are seeing now.
- 45:19Speaker 2: So there you go. Yeah, but ACDC money does talk.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Money does talk.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Confirmed. Yeah. I don't know, but.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Anyway, all right, we're going to talk a little bit
- 45:30Speaker 2: about what J-Bat said yesterday as far as Big Blue
- 45:34Speaker 2: Madness and then what's happening to Pat Kelsey. Travis Kelsey,
- 45:39Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Who's Pat Kelsey? Travis Kelsey. We'll talk about that, too.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Hour two coming up. Stay right there.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Slurped a dozen each. Bought a bunch of popcorn for
- 45:48Speaker 1: the fat man on the dock. Baby, turn back the pages.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Turn around the clock. Welcome to Just the Cats with
- 46:02Speaker 1: Michael Bennett. You know, it's hot.
- 46:07Speaker 2: We were just talking about when you came over here
- 46:09Speaker 2: how hot it is here in Louisville. I mean, is
- 46:11Speaker 2: it going to be just 24 hours and the next
- 46:14Speaker 2: thing you know, it's going to be like 30 degrees
- 46:16Speaker 2: in winter and we're not going to have any kind
- 46:17Speaker 2: of fall?
- 46:18Speaker 1: No, I think we're going to gradually. You think so?
- 46:21Speaker 1: It just seems like we go from one instant to
- 46:23Speaker 1: the next. By the way, this is the hottest first
- 46:26Speaker 1: 15 days to start September in Louisville history. Oh, really? Wow.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Do you believe in global warming? To an extent. Not
- 46:37Speaker 1: so much. That's a hot topic, isn't it? I know.
- 46:41Speaker 1: I don't really want to get into all that. Oh,
- 46:43Speaker 1: come on. Who cares? Listen, I love global warming. Look,
- 46:48Speaker 1: I will say this. Yeah. I do think our planet
- 46:51Speaker 1: as a whole goes through ups and downs. Yes. And
- 46:54Speaker 1: this just, it feels like It could be attributed to
- 46:57Speaker 1: global warming, but I think this is something that's happened
- 47:00Speaker 1: throughout the entire history of the Earth.
- 47:02Speaker 2: See, that's what I think. It's just natural progression. Now,
- 47:04Speaker 2: we might be helping a little bit, but I just
- 47:07Speaker 2: think it's a natural progression. We have extreme highs. We
- 47:10Speaker 2: have extreme lows. That's the way I've always been. I
- 47:13Speaker 2: just want to be on the extreme high because I
- 47:15Speaker 2: hate winter. I've never liked it. And it'll continue that way.
- 47:19Speaker 2: And I'll remind you all the time, okay? So when
- 47:22Speaker 2: winter comes around, guess what? I'm going to complain even more.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Did you see this or not? It came on top
- 47:28Speaker 2: of the hour. I am an IU guy, but I
- 47:31Speaker 2: remember Joe Buck saying that he attended IU but did
- 47:34Speaker 2: not graduate.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw that. Okay, did you read it? Mm-hmm. Oh,
- 47:38Speaker 1: you did? Okay, I'm sorry. So do you consider him
- 47:40Speaker 1: an IU person because he didn't graduate? I do, but
- 47:43Speaker 1: he's not an alum. Because, you know, you could say.
- 47:46Speaker 2: That about a lot of athletes out there. Forget just
- 47:49Speaker 2: being Joe Buck.
- 47:50Speaker 1: But, I mean....
- 47:53Speaker 2: I know John Wall came back and graduated. Do you
- 47:57Speaker 2: consider DeMarcus Cousin for that fact? We were talking about
- 48:00Speaker 2: him earlier. Do you consider him a UK guy? Because
- 48:03Speaker 2: he didn't graduate from UK.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I consider him a UK guy, but not an alum. See,
- 48:08Speaker 1: there's a difference there. There is.
- 48:12Speaker 2: But, you know, the UK Alumni Association will let you
- 48:15Speaker 2: join even though you're not an alum. My sister has
- 48:18Speaker 2: always been upset about that. She never liked the fact
- 48:22Speaker 2: that anybody could join the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.
- 48:25Speaker 1: And I'm sure it's true.
- 48:26Speaker 2: It sounds like I'm picking on UK, but I'm not.
- 48:28Speaker 2: I'm sure it's true for every school out there. They
- 48:30Speaker 2: want your money. But do you like that if you're
- 48:33Speaker 2: not an alumnist, you can still join?
- 48:35Speaker 1: Sure. Really? I've got no problem with that. Really? Okay. Okay. Well,
- 48:39Speaker 1: she has a problem with it. I don't go either way.
- 48:42Speaker 2: I mean, if they want to have the money and
- 48:44Speaker 2: that's what they're trying to do is get more money
- 48:46Speaker 2: to help other students, I'm good with that. It just
- 48:49Speaker 2: depends on what they're doing with the money. But anyway,
- 48:51Speaker 2: you get your little sticker and place it on your
- 48:53Speaker 2: car and act like you're an alumnus.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Okay, there you go.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Does Michael Bon Jovi give to UK football?
- 49:02Speaker 1: No. Thank you for reminding me of that from yesterday.
- 49:06Speaker 1: That was a fun topic yesterday, by the way. It was.
- 49:09Speaker 2: What would the name of my band be if I
- 49:12Speaker 2: had a band? uh do i give the uk football
- 49:14Speaker 2: no i don't i i do in different ways uh
- 49:17Speaker 2: so oh i guess i do so anyway i mean
- 49:20Speaker 2: you either do or you don't i do pretty simple
- 49:22Speaker 2: yeah i know it's pretty simple i give the uk
- 49:25Speaker 2: football and basketball so there you go uh yes uh
- 49:28Speaker 2: and uh anyway That's all. We'll talk about that. So
- 49:33Speaker 2: is that enough said? One person said Mashburn stated he
- 49:39Speaker 2: also received NIL when he was at Kentucky. Don't let
- 49:43Speaker 2: Duke surprise you. Look closer to home. Oh, I'm, you know, Texter,
- 49:49Speaker 2: what you're referring to, I know exactly what you're referring
- 49:51Speaker 2: to because he's partnered, Mashburn is partnered with Rick Pitino,
- 49:55Speaker 2: keeping a promise that Rick Pitino left for him a
- 49:58Speaker 2: long time ago. And Mashburn committing to UK when he did,
- 50:03Speaker 2: when Pitino first took the job there, meant a lot
- 50:07Speaker 2: to Rick Pitino because that helped him start building at
- 50:11Speaker 2: the University of Kentucky. And Rick Pitino kept to his promises.
- 50:14Speaker 2: I'm not going to complain about that. And yes, there
- 50:17Speaker 2: were probably other things offered to Mashburn. And Rick Pitino's
- 50:21Speaker 2: lived up to those things. It all happened everywhere.
- 50:24Speaker 1: And for the UK fans out there that are in denial,
- 50:30Speaker 1: you better wake up and open your eyes.
- 50:32Speaker 2: It happened to us. Our former coaches did this. Just
- 50:37Speaker 2: like every single coach out there did it. It wasn't
- 50:42Speaker 2: just one school. Now, I go back to UofL. I
- 50:47Speaker 2: don't like what they did with the other stuff. I
- 50:49Speaker 2: thought that was kind of gross, but yeah. And they
- 50:51Speaker 2: deserve to have their banner taken away.
- 50:53Speaker 1: And yes, you're right. Huh? No, they don't. The game
- 50:57Speaker 1: stuff they did. Yes, it does. The game. If we can't,
- 51:00Speaker 1: I know we're going to get to it in a bit,
- 51:02Speaker 1: but if they can't take away Michigan's win over Western Michigan,
- 51:05Speaker 1: then they can't take Louisville's win.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Well, let's just talk about it right now. So, I mean,
- 51:09Speaker 2: I I'm right there with you. But why doesn't the NCAA?
- 51:13Speaker 2: So if you haven't seen it yet, the NCAA came
- 51:17Speaker 2: out acknowledging Michigan should have lost to Western Michigan. At
- 51:23Speaker 2: this point, why do you say it? You're only upsetting
- 51:27Speaker 2: every fan base out there besides Michigan. I mean, I
- 51:31Speaker 2: really feel bad for Western Michigan at this time. Justin,
- 51:34Speaker 2: what useful purpose did the NCAA come out, do to
- 51:38Speaker 2: come out and say that?
- 51:40Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. I don't see a benefit
- 51:42Speaker 1: to it. I really don't. Let me ask you this, though.
- 51:45Speaker 1: All right. If Michigan goes, let's just say they run
- 51:49Speaker 1: the gamut, go 12-0, get to the Big Ten title game,
- 51:54Speaker 1: win that, they're 13-0. Do they get the number one seed? Yes.
- 52:00Speaker 1: The number one overall seed? Yes. You think they do? Yes. Yeah,
- 52:04Speaker 1: they do.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Because that's the way it ended up. Nobody did anything
- 52:09Speaker 2: about it.
- 52:09Speaker 1: They deserve it. So since they didn't do anything about it,
- 52:13Speaker 1: they get it. I don't know. I know it sucks.
- 52:15Speaker 1: I think the committee would not let that happen.
- 52:17Speaker 2: See, I think so too. I don't think that'll happen anyway.
- 52:20Speaker 2: So I don't think we're not going to have to
- 52:22Speaker 2: worry about that scenario. But I firmly believe the committee
- 52:29Speaker 2: is going to call it a loss anyway. They're going
- 52:33Speaker 2: to call that Western Michigan game a loss. So if
- 52:36Speaker 2: that's going to be the case by the committee, then
- 52:38Speaker 2: call it a loss. Okay, let's just go ahead and say,
- 52:41Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Western Michigan, you did not get to shine
- 52:45Speaker 2: on national television because everybody knows you won. You didn't
- 52:48Speaker 2: get to celebrate it.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Or anything.
- 52:50Speaker 2: But we're going to call it like it is, and
- 52:53Speaker 2: we're going to tell you that was a win for you.
- 52:55Speaker 2: And Michigan fans, I'm so sorry. That is a loss.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Because that is what's going to essentially happen when the
- 53:03Speaker 2: committee comes out to come up with the whole list
- 53:06Speaker 2: of teams that are deserving to be in the– the playoffs,
- 53:09Speaker 2: and the ones that are not. And they're going to
- 53:12Speaker 2: call that one game a loss. So why not come
- 53:15Speaker 2: out publicly and say it as a loss? And by
- 53:18Speaker 2: the way, we're going to make Michigan say that.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Was a loss. I don't know. Maybe it's better payback
- 53:23Speaker 1: if you make them sweat it out. And then you're like,
- 53:25Speaker 1: when you're making your decision, sorry, Michigan, we consider this
- 53:29Speaker 1: a loss. Yeah. But you all said you can't do
- 53:32Speaker 1: anything and we got the win for it. What do
- 53:33Speaker 1: you mean? Yeah. You cheated. Yeah. Exactly.
- 53:38Speaker 2: But for the NCAA, to me, it infuriates me. And
- 53:42Speaker 2: I don't have a real feel for this anyway, other
- 53:44Speaker 2: than Michigan, Western Michigan got screwed. But I'm looking at
- 53:48Speaker 2: this and I think, you know what? Why would you
- 53:50Speaker 2: come out and say this now? Then if you they
- 53:54Speaker 2: came out and said, well, we can't rule on games,
- 53:58Speaker 2: wins or losses. It was like, OK, well, you're ruling.
- 54:00Speaker 2: It should have been a loss anyway. So what's the
- 54:03Speaker 2: difference to go back to Louisville? You ruled on that game.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Yeah. And it happened. Yeah. I know people that were
- 54:10Speaker 1: in attendance. But that's a penalty. It's all Louisville win.
- 54:12Speaker 1: They deserved a penalty, and the penalty was losing your banner. Yeah,
- 54:16Speaker 1: but it's stupid because we all know they won the banner.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Okay, but the way they recruited players was gross. You
- 54:23Speaker 2: can say whatever you want. It wasn't a benefit. If
- 54:25Speaker 2: my son was there and being recruited that way, I
- 54:30Speaker 2: would be disgusted by UofL. Just to let you know,
- 54:33Speaker 2: if it was at UK, I would be disgusted by UK.
- 54:37Speaker 2: I might not be a fan of UK anymore. If
- 54:39Speaker 2: that's what had happened at UK.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Same thing. Disgusted.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Anyway, but if they want to recruit that way back
- 54:46Speaker 2: in the day, then so be it. I understand Rick
- 54:49Speaker 2: Pitino continues to say I knew nothing about it.
- 54:52Speaker 1: And I believe that.
- 54:53Speaker 2: I believe Rick Pitino had nothing, no knowledge of what
- 54:57Speaker 2: was going on. But that's his fault. He should have
- 55:00Speaker 2: known what was going on. He was in charge, and
- 55:04Speaker 2: he let that kind of crap happen. So if it happened.
- 55:08Speaker 1: At IU, you'd be okay with it? No, I wouldn't
- 55:11Speaker 1: be okay with it. Okay, thank you. There's no but
- 55:14Speaker 1: to it. Yeah, there is, because you said you wouldn't
- 55:16Speaker 1: be a Kentucky fan anymore.
- 55:18Speaker 2: I would have a hard time, I can tell you that.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Maybe it is extreme, but that's disgusting.
- 55:23Speaker 1: How many Louisville fans do you know that were Louisville
- 55:25Speaker 1: fans before all this and no longer are?
- 55:27Speaker 2: Probably none, but that's UofL. The UofL doesn't care. Their
- 55:31Speaker 2: fan base wants to win at all costs. Every fan
- 55:34Speaker 2: base wants to win at all costs. Buddy, I'm telling
- 55:36Speaker 2: you right now. The UofL fan base, more than any
- 55:40Speaker 2: other fan base out there, wants to win at all costs.
- 55:43Speaker 2: They don't give a flying flip. That's just been my experience. Now,
- 55:47Speaker 2: it might be different for you, but that's been my experience.
- 55:50Speaker 1: All right. Agree to disagree. Exactly. I knew we would
- 55:53Speaker 1: disagree on that one.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Thank you, Texter. You said the Emory package was for
- 55:58Speaker 2: Chris Mills. That was Emory. I couldn't think of the place,
- 56:01Speaker 2: and it was Chris Mills out in California. Yeah, you're
- 56:05Speaker 2: exactly correct. Man, Podcast Random Thoughts guy has really been
- 56:11Speaker 2: sending the stuff in today.
- 56:12Speaker 1: I love this. I'm sorry.
- 56:14Speaker 2: We did read that one. I do want to get
- 56:18Speaker 2: to this one up here. Not a single person has
- 56:21Speaker 2: come forward from Bob Knight's team saying every school was
- 56:24Speaker 2: doing it is incorrect. Knight's Bridge followed NCAA recruiting rules.
- 56:29Speaker 1: No way. I disagree with that. Absolutely not. Yeah.
- 56:31Speaker 2: I disagree with that wholeheartedly. So you think the same thing,
- 56:35Speaker 2: and you're a diehard IU fan.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there is no way back in
- 56:41Speaker 1: those days that guys would have signed up for getting
- 56:44Speaker 1: screamed at, cussed at, choked out. If there wasn't something
- 56:48Speaker 1: else beneficial for them. Yeah. I'm right there with you.
- 56:52Speaker 2: 48 Hanley said, love the variety on here, Michael. I
- 56:56Speaker 2: have takes on monkeys and cows also, but don't want
- 56:59Speaker 2: to hog the show.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Oh boy. Good one. That would be a joke you
- 57:04Speaker 1: would love. You're exactly correct.
- 57:07Speaker 2: I was a big drinker and had all kinds of liqueurs,
- 57:10Speaker 2: but ripple mitts kicked my ass.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Rumpelmitz. Rumpelmitz, I'm sorry. It's not a joke.
- 57:16Speaker 2: It sounds like a German thing. I'm surprised you didn't
- 57:19Speaker 2: know that was a German drink.
- 57:20Speaker 1: I probably did.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Just to hear the whole Rumpelmitz. It's like, that's got
- 57:26Speaker 2: to be German. I've literally never heard of Rumpelmitz. Maybe
- 57:29Speaker 2: that's why I have such an affinity for it. This
- 57:30Speaker 2: is where we need Corey Price right now to go
- 57:32Speaker 2: look up Rumpelmitz and where it came from.
- 57:35Speaker 1: It's from Germany. I told you. Yeah, but how long ago?
- 57:37Speaker 1: Can you imagine? I mean, you want a full history breakdown?
- 57:40Speaker 2: I'm just curious about it. No, I don't want a
- 57:42Speaker 2: full history breakdown. I was just curious about it. So anyway,
- 57:46Speaker 2: UK football will wear all white uniforms this weekend.
- 57:52Speaker 1: That's a good thing.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Because if you remember, UK, when they've worn the all white,
- 57:58Speaker 2: the white helmet, the white jersey, the white pants, they've
- 58:01Speaker 2: won some significant games with those uniforms. If you remember
- 58:06Speaker 2: 2018 at Florida, they were wearing all white. That was
- 58:10Speaker 2: the game where Cash took the Gatorade bottles and did
- 58:16Speaker 2: the whole, was it Steve, not Steve, the Austin, or
- 58:20Speaker 2: who was the wrestler he was trying to imitate?
- 58:22Speaker 1: I can't think of that. Yeah, Stone Cold. Stone Cold, yeah,
- 58:24Speaker 1: Steve Austin. That game.
- 58:27Speaker 2: They won a game at South Carolina wearing that same
- 58:31Speaker 2: uniform combination. And then 2024 was the last big win
- 58:35Speaker 2: that they had when they beat Ole Miss down in Oxford.
- 58:39Speaker 2: I got to believe Lane Kiffin is looking at that
- 58:41Speaker 2: game and still shaking his head.
- 58:43Speaker 1: Don't you think so? It's like, how did that happen? Probably.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Because you thought that was going to be a really
- 58:48Speaker 2: fun season. You go down there, you beat Lane Kiffin.
- 58:52Speaker 2: Mark Stoops did a phenomenal job. And then they just
- 58:55Speaker 2: kind of fizzled out from there. Anyway, that to me
- 58:59Speaker 2: was a bit of a disappointing year. All right, let's
- 59:01Speaker 2: talk about Travis Kelsey. By the way, Rumpelman's 1981.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Is that all? I would have figured it'd been like
- 59:07Speaker 1: the 1300s. Nope.
- 59:09Speaker 2: I just don't get how they still come up with
- 59:11Speaker 2: drinks today. It's like, aren't drinks all.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Oh, there's still stuff to be made. You think so?
- 59:18Speaker 1: To be invented? Yeah. I mean. We're always going to
- 59:21Speaker 1: be getting new stuff. You can't get any better than
- 59:23Speaker 1: Diet Coke and Big Red. That to me, I do like,
- 59:27Speaker 1: and there is a difference. I do like some cream sodas.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Not all cream soda. Red cream soda is awesome. Is
- 59:36Speaker 1: that different than Big Red? What's red cream soda? A
- 59:39Speaker 1: little bit. Yeah, I mean, Barks. Is that a brand? Yeah,
- 59:41Speaker 1: Barks makes their own red cream soda. Yeah, Barks is good.
- 59:45Speaker 1: It's freaking awesome.
- 59:47Speaker 2: I've had a number of people, because I love Coke
- 59:50Speaker 2: with vanilla ice cream, and I love root beer, or
- 59:54Speaker 2: root beer float. So is it called a brown cow
- 59:58Speaker 2: when you take a Coke and vanilla ice cream?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I believe it is. Couldn't tell you. Yeah, here we go.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: Squirrel again. I mean, I don't know what's wrong with
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: my brain. And I apologize to everybody out there listening
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: to the show, okay? I'm squirreling so crazily this week.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: And I don't know why that is.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Black cow. Is it a black cow? I thought it
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: was a brown cow. You looked it up? Yeah, black cow.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Okay, I thought it was a brown cow. All right,
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: so you got the black cow. You got a root
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: beer float. I have never tried, and I've had a
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: number of people say, because they know how much I
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: love Big Red. And they know how much I love
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: vanilla ice cream. To take Big Red. And put it
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: over vanilla ice cream. Have you tried that before? I
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: don't think I've ever done that.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: I haven't. And people swear by it up and down.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I have heard it's quite tasty. It is? Because I just,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: for some reason, I just can't put the two flavors together.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Even though I love dearly both of them, I can't
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: put those two together and go try it.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: I might have to do it today. In fact, when
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: I'm done with Radio Dead Day... I might go it immediately.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Just get it out of the way and let you
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: know how it tasted.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Okay. I'll be looking for a text. But you won't
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: do it? Bubble gum and vanilla ice cream. Yum. Bubble gum?
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: You think it's bubble? Well, okay. Big Red tastes like
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: bubble gum.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: There are flavors out there of ice cream that have
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: bubble gum in it. Have you never tried it before?
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: No. Hmm. Okay. I think they have it at Baskin Robbins.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: But yeah, ever since one of my buddies in Florida
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: said Big Red tastes like bubble gum, that's all I taste.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Is bubble gum? Yeah, don't mess with my flavors. Come on, man.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I mean, it hasn't made me like it any less.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: I am scared to death you have messed with Big
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: Red now by saying that one thing.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Next sip you take. No, I don't want to. I
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: love bubble gum and I love Big Red. It won't
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: take your love away for it, a problem.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: I hope not. But, yeah, it's just one of those
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: things that's like, please don't do that. You know, my
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: wife always makes candy at Christmas time. And she'll go
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: out and get the bubble gum flavor. I'm trying to
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: think what else she gets that I love.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Watermelon. What did she make last year? It was incredible.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Was it Peppermint Bar? Oh, Peppermint Bar. Yeah, absolutely. That
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: was so good.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: She makes Heath Bar, homemade Heath Bar, and homemade Butterfingers.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Her Butterfingers are un-freaking-believable. The Butterfingers were good. I don't
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: think I had any of the Heath. Tell her to
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: load me up this year. Which do you like more?
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: What is your favorite candy bar?
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I'm curious. Probably Heath. It is Heath bar? Actually. That's
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: a good candy bar. You know what? I actually went
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: through this debate in my head the other night. Did
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: you really? Here we are talking about it today. I
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: was at the gas station the other night. I was
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: craving a candy bar. I was like, man, what do
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I want? Yeah. So I went to grab a Heath. Okay.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: But then I saw Score. Is that what it's called? Score? Score?
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: That's an old candy bar. So I picked them both up. Okay. Okay.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: And Heath was like, English toffee and score, I think,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: is butter toffee. What's the difference?
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: I don't think I've ever had a score candy bar before,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: so I have no idea what you're talking about. Other
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: than I've seen the candy bar for sale. I think
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: score is my new favorite candy. Oh, is it really?
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: That butter toffee is so good. Butter toffee. And so
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: it's butter toffee and English toffee. Well, you know how much.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: By the way, I was thinking about you last night,
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: and I'll tell you in a minute. But, okay, I'm
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: a baby Ruth guy. If I'm going for a candy bar,
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: I love the Baby Ruth. That would be one of
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: my last five picks.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Would it really? What's wrong with Baby Ruth? Wait, is
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: that the one that has the peanuts on it? Peanuts and, oh, yeah. Okay. No,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: I'm thinking a payday. I'm thinking a payday. Oh, no, no, no, no.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: I like paydays because I'll just sit there and I'll
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: pick all the peanuts off one by one. And just
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: eat the inside? And then you're left with that caramel log.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: You're weird. That might be the dumbest thing I've heard
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: you say there. Oh, it's incredible. Try it that way.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I had dinner last night at the place that has
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: that cinnamon butter.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: In hand? How? How was it? I didn't have it.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: The waiter came over and says, will you take this away?
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: I mean, how was the dinner? Dinner was good. Yeah. Yeah. But, yeah,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: the waiter came up and said, can I get you this?
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I said, yes. Get rid of this. Bring me some
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: real butter. Patricia doesn't like it? No, she can't stand
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: it either. Really? No, neither of us like it. Are
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: you kidding? If I don't like it, nobody likes it. There.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: That's how it goes in my, that's how we roll
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: in Michael Bennett's family. Heard that. Yeah. Okay. Well, it's
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: not true.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Let's talk about Travis Kelsey for a second. Do you
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: see where he was named as a victim in a
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme?
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Wait, really? You didn't see this? No. Oh, I'm surprised
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: you haven't seen this. Yes. Travis Kelsey was named as
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: a victim in a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme based in St. Louis.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: 64 victims have been identified, and they were named in
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: a lawsuit yesterday in court, including, are you ready for this?
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Tim Hardaway. Okay. Gary Harris. Okay.
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: Who's with the Pistons and Mason Plumlee with the Spurs.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: All named in this lawsuit. So Siddharth Jawahar.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Nailed it. Did I really? You don't know. But he
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: took millions of dollars.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: And once he would raise the money, then he would
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: go out and raise a bunch more money to give
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: back to the original investors. And that's how we'd start
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: the Ponzi scheme. And what would he do with the money?
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: He would make lavish trips. take expensive hotels, fly private,
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: stay the night in expensive hotels, go to expensive restaurants,
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: everything you can think of. How much do you think
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: he was sentenced for to go to prison?
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Nine years. Really? That's a good guess. Actually, 11 years.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: I'm pretty proud.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: And he has to pay $ 31 million in restitution. I
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: didn't think that was much. No telling.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: 31 million. That's right.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: And you got to believe he probably has more stashed
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: away than just the 31 million. Cause you know, you
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: raise that money. You send it all overseas to somewhere
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: like Switzerland. Like the Wolf of Wall Street, what they
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: were doing there?
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: I guarantee you there's a lot more money. So $ 31
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: million to this guy in 11 years. Would you steal money,
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: millions of money, knowing you'll have to go to jail
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: for 11 years, even though after that 11 years is gone,
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: you maybe have like $ 50 million in a bank somewhere else?
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: No. Neither would I. If it was only like a year?
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Then that question becomes a lot harder for me. You'd
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: have a record for the rest of your life for money.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I would put myself in jail for a year if
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: it meant having $ 50 million and I got out. Good
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: for you. I couldn't do it. I probably shouldn't say
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: that on public radio. What is your mom saying about
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: you or is your dad saying about you now? Just
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: telling you where my head's at. Here's the other.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Part I'd like to know. I'd like to know what
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: did Travis Kelsey say to Taylor Swift knowing all this
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: went down? I mean, she was probably very supportive of him.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: You think so? Like, oh, so-and-so needs money. Yeah, you
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: should help him out. This is it. Oh, really?
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: I mean, you don't think there's all kinds of documents.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: You know they signed a, what is the pre-marriage thing
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: that they all sign?
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Prenup. A prenuptial. Yes.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: You got to believe they have a prenuptial that's out
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: the butt.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: I don't know. Really? Okay. Well. I mean, they're both loaded.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: I don't know why they would need to sign a prenup. Yeah,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: but she's a lot more loaded than he is loaded. Yeah.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I mean, a lot more loaded. That's probably what led
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: him to feel comfortable doing this. Really? Even if it
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: is a scam, then, damn, I got my lady here
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: that'll cover for me. But isn't it amazing that people
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: still fall for Ponzi schemes? Not really, because, I mean...
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Like scams on telephones, for instance, have gotten way better.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: So I'm sure language within a Ponzi scheme has gotten better.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Not only that, but also the emails that they send you.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: It's like, ooh, this seems real. And then here's what
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: I do now. When I get something, a spam call,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: I love messing with the people. I probably shouldn't. But
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: then when I get a spam email and it looks legitimate,
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: I'll go look it up. And I'll use Google to
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: tell me is this real or not. And for more
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: times than not, I haven't fallen for any of them.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: There was one time I did almost fall for it,
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: and I said, please don't do that.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: I worry about it with my grandparents all the time.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Do you really? Because they really have gotten so good. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: And you know they're only going to get better. Yeah.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: The one account I do love watching on social media
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: is the one guy that scams the scammers. You've seen
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: that one, haven't you?
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: I don't think so. Oh, my gosh. Go look that
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: guy up.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: He will literally find out what the scammer's name is,
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: where they're from, and take their money. And the scammers
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: go nuts. They start screaming on the phone to him,
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: send me back my money. He said, of course, I
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: can't do an Indian accent. And that's where they're mostly,
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: they're from over in that area. But you got to
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: go look that up.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: They are the scammers that scam the scammers. That's a mouthful. Oh, exactly.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: But it's so true. And it's so, it is really
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: fulfilling to watch those guys work. It really is. And
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: I love every second of it. I just want to
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: know where that money goes to.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: So, all right. We've got to take another break. 502-414-1450.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: You want to text me on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: We'll get back to your text as soon as we
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: get back. Stay right there.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Just a guess. And he told me it's because in
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: my contract there's this clause that says it's my job
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: to be worried half to death. And that's the thing
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: people respect in me. It's my job. But without it
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I'd be less than what I expect from me. Scratch
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: my back with lightning bolt. Thunder rolls like a bass
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: drum note. The sound of the weather is heaven's ragtime band.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: You have killed it today with the songs by Jimmy Buffett.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Thank you. Let it play a little longer. But this
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: is one of my favorites. I haven't heard this song
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: in so long it's not even funny. Heaven only knows
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: who's in command.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Barefoot children in the rain. What a great song right there.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: That gives me cold chills just hearing that. Thank you
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: very much.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I've been so concerned with picking my Jimmy Buffett songs
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: that I almost forgot to sneak yours in. It's okay. No, no, no.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: And don't even worry about that because of the fact
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: that I've enjoyed every song you've played today. And for
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: those of you out there that don't enjoy Jimmy Buffett,
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Don't worry about it. But anyway, what's going
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: on today?
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Now, now, now. Steven Peek is texting me. Okay. Yeah.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Scratch my back with a lightning bolt. Thank you there, Steven.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Steven's listening.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Wow. I love that. That's big time. Exactly. I mean,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: this show might survive after all. Who knows? Oh, my gosh.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: But anyway.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: All right, so let's talk about this for a second.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: You know, Big Blue Madness, as we all know, is
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: coming up next couple of weeks. J-Bat did change things
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: as far as how many tickets people can get for
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: a household.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: It was two.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: It's now up to four. People were complaining about that
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: like crazy. I still think, what difference does it make?
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Why limit it to only four? I mean, what if
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: I had five or six kids? You know, we were
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: talking earlier. If Mark Pope had to choose between his household,
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: somebody would have to be left out. I mean, why
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: are we making it to where it's just only a
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: certain number per household? What difference does it make?
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: It's free. Well, it's not free. Better figure out your
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: favorite kid. Well, that's the other part. And then the
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: other part is this is not a free event, UK.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Stop advertising that it's a free event. If you want to.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: Make it free, then don't make us go through Ticketmaster
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: and pay the service charges.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: It's not free.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: That's going to be my biggest criticism right there. I
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: just don't like how we're doing this nowadays. If you
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: want to, just let's go through the UK website. And
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: scan your ticket from there, and then that way we
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: can go for literally free. And then I'd be okay
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: with that. But making me go through Ticketmaster and all
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: the fans go through Ticketmaster to pay service charges.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Is not free. And it's not fair to everybody out there.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: I know it's a nominal fee, but still, don't advertise
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: it as free when it's not free.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Am I wrong on that? I mean, not really, but
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: it is at the end of the day just semantics
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: and how much are those charges going to be really?
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Probably what, $ 4 or $ 5?
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: Exactly. Okay, but it's still $ 4 or $ 5. That would
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: buy me a Diet Coke. Yeah, but in today's economy,
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: that's basically free. Okay, so even though you're still paying
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: $ 5 in service charges, you think that's free?
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: I don't. I mean, by the letter of the law, no. No,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: it's not. And I go by the letter of the law. Sorry.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: I do like to fudge numbers every now and then,
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: but that's not. I mean, I want it to be
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: literally free.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: I get it.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: And it really frustrates me. So last year, John Wall
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: was the surprise guest for Big Blue Madness. Who do
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: you think this year Mark Pope will invite? Let's get
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: into a little guessing game.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: I already got it. Oh, you do? Really?
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: You have been so fast on things this year, the
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: past couple of days.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I have. I can't believe already you've got somebody. It's
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: going to be Reed Shepard. Oh, really? Somebody that connects
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: with the younger fan base. Wait, wait, wait. Hold on,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: hold on, hold on. Do you know this for certain?
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Is this a little scoop you're giving out? No. Or
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: is this you guessing? This is not Scoot Scoot. Okay.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: All right. This is just me guessing. Okay. Because he's
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: a guy that connects with the younger fan base. I mean,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: even guys like my age really love Reed Shepard. So
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: I feel like he's one of those players that you
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: could bring back that everybody would be excited about, even you.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: I agree. Even the older fans, because, oh, Jeff's boy's here.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: So that one just makes the most sense to me. Okay,
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: I don't necessarily disagree with that. To me, you know,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: you go back to John Wall, I think, well, the
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: next obvious step to me would be DeMarcus Cousins. No.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: Why do you say no? I don't think you would
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: go back to the same era. Oh, you don't think so?
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Not in back-to-back. I mean, if anything, if it's going
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: to be... Another future or former cat. It would be
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: like Shay, but I don't see. That's the one I
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: was thinking as well. I thought, well, could it be
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Carl Anthony towns? Could it be Shay Gilgis? Shay would
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: have a place going bananas. See, I think so too.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Could it be Anthony Davis? I think the, the, to me,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: the rightful pick, would be Shea Gilgis. With everything he's
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: got going on, I mean, MVP, titles, all this kind
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: of stuff, and the accolades he's getting, the gigantic contracts
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: he's getting, and then it goes back to my point earlier.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: If you want to get a former player, give a
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: little money to the former school, wouldn't you want Shea
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Gilgis Alexander there? or the recency of Cat winning the
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: NBA title. So I kind of feel like one of
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: those two would be the rightful owner of being the
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: next guest for UK on Big Blue Madness. I think
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: you can't go wrong with any of the ones we've named.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: No, I'm right there with you, but it would make
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: the crowd go crazy if it was either Shea or Cat.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: I think even more so, no offense, I love your
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: idea of bringing Reed Shepard back because it'd be fun
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: to have Reed and his dad, Jeff, because then you
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: got The era of Mark Pope and then the era
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: of the young kids really getting excited about Reed Shepard. Yeah, heck,
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: bring Reed and Jeff at the same time. And his mom,
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: who played basketball at UK. Bring her out for Kenny Brooks.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: Who would kick everyone in the crowd fast.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Exactly. She's a beast. Yeah, she does intimidate. I'd be
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: scared of her.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: I am never going to say one bad thing about her.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: But I love that family. And Jeff, I like Jeff.
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: I've always liked Jeff. I just was really disappointed what
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: Reed Shepard did wearing the Arkansas crap.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: But I'm over it.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: It's okay. He was just trying to support his coach.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: And I get it, but that's a coach that didn't
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: start at UK, which I still find the most fascinating
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: thing to me.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: It is crazy. Yeah. And here he is in base
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: starting and playing a lot. But anyway.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: But, you know, I just, man, it would be fun
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: if it was, let's just do all of them, okay?
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: I mean, this year, let's plan on.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: Shea. Okay. And then next year, Cat, and then the
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: next year, the Shepherds. No, I think if you're going
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: to do Cat, it's got to be this year. Really?
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: It does?
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: Yeah, because he won the championship this year, this past year.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: One person texted in, that was such an ignorant comment. Oh, boy,
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: I like the start of this already. Nobody's leaving their
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: fan base they've been a part of their whole life
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: because of what happened. Stop painting Louisville fans as a
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: moral fan base.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: I'm with you, Texter. Are you? Yeah. I mean, that
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: was basically my sentiment when you said that. But they'll
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: win at all costs. Yeah, I mean, I don't necessarily
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: disagree with that. Yeah. But there's a lot of schools
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: in the exact same boat. Yeah. Texter, if you're just
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: now listening to the show and that's the first ignorant
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: comment you've heard me say... Put your seatbelt on, okay?
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: I say lots of ignorant things. And you know why?
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Because it's fun. I love saying stuff that's ridiculous. Well,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: I mean, a lot of it you truly believe. Some
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: of it. That's what makes it the best. Yeah, some
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: of it, yes.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: But then I'll make ridiculous comments to my wife just
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: to see if I get a spark going. And now,
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: since we've been married 30-some-odd years, she just ignores me.
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: And she's just like, I think that's the pleasure she
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: gets now because she gets it. Because I'm trying to
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: get a rile out of her. Now she's getting a
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: rile out of me. She's turned my own game back
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: on me.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: I'm like, are you not going to say anything? Did
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: you hear me? She goes, I heard you. And then
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: just goes on. And then I see her smile. And
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, you're getting back at me. I get it.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: I can play that game right there. One person texted in,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: I like 100 Grand Bar.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Those are phenomenal.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: I could not agree more with you. I love 100
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Grand Bars. But, you know, you only see them. It
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: seems like the only time I see 100 Grand Bars
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: anymore is Or Halloween, so right now you get the
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: little mini ones. Are you a big bar hander out
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: or a small bar? We don't get trick-or-treaters.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: What? You get zero trick-or-treaters? I remember the first year
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: we moved in, we were all prepped for it, and yeah,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: there was nobody.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: That's so sad. And then you gained 50 pounds because
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: you ate the candy, didn't you?
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Our street's pretty old. Oh, it is? If I had
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: to guess, my street that I live on, average age probably...
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: upper 50s young 60s.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: Huh okay yeah it's kind of getting that way for
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: us too all our kids that are our neighbors have
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: all grown up pretty much together and now they're all
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: gone so we really don't see young kids anymore it's
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: a bummer.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: I wish we did i wish we got trick-or-treaters.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: Do you really i would love it so would i
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: i i love messing with kids in a fun way
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: but i i don't know i think their parents would
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: think oh let's let's go to the next house let's
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: stay away from that one So anyway.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: Are you, when you did hand it out, are you,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: were you a small bar or full bar? No, we
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: were full bar, but I wasn't, I wasn't there. I
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: always had to be the one walking around the streets.
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: Like Patricia, I'm exhausted. I don't care. Take the kids.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: I'm staying here. Anyway.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Uh, one Texas said Ruppelmintz is 100 proof from the 1980s.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: Correct. So that's some strong stuff, right? Yeah. What is
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: the strongest alcohol you can have? I don't know the numbers.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: I'm not sure I do either. Yeah.
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: Isn't it like 110 proof? What is the stuff you
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: make at home? You call it, what is it?
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Moonshine. Moonshine. Yeah. Isn't moonshine like even higher? I mean,
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: so 196% alcohol is the highest you can have. It is?
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: But he's saying Rumpelmintz is 100 proof. And you just
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: said 96 is the highest proof. Well- I don't think
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: you know the answer like I don't know the answer.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: If Rumpelmintz is 100 proof, then it is 50% alcohol.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: So like the 96% alcohol is 192 proof. Whoa, really?
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: They're just doubles. So yeah, you're getting drunk a lot quicker. Everclear,
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: for instance, is 190 proof. What is Everclear? Oh, we
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: used that for like jungle juice back in the day.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: It's basically just grain alcohol. It's disgusting. It is. Never
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: heard of it before. All right. NCAA March Madness account
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: on Twitter. Did you see this? Nope.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: Had a poll where fans could vote to decide who
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: the best three-man team of the 21st century is.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: Okay. And you won't be surprised. You know who won, right?
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: I don't. Kentucky. Who was the three men?
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: The three men were John Wall, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: They were representing UK. I don't think that would win.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Well, it won. I don't think it would.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: Well, I'm telling you right now, it won.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: You have two bigs. How's that work out?
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: It works perfectly, so don't worry about it. Well, the
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: voting is over. You cannot cast your vote anymore, and
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: the people have spoken. UK won, so get over it.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: That's just a case of BDN being bigger than anything. Exactly.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Probably paying more attention to the NCAA March Madness account
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: more than they should. But out of the 64 teams,
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: UK faced FAU, so Florida Atlantic. Beat them by 86%.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: Round of 32, they face Wichita. Beat them 81%. In
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: the Sweet 16, they face UCLA.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: Beat them 78%.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: Elite 8 was Michigan State, which got a little closer,
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: but it was still 68%. They beat them. And then
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: final four is Duke. The UK beat Duke at 72%
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: of the vote. Who was Duke's three?
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: Huh? Who was Duke's three? I couldn't tell you. I
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: didn't pay attention. I don't really care. Because if you
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: give me Cooper Flagg, Carlos Boozer, and I'll even throw
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: Jay Williams in there, Kentucky's not beating that. All right.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: I'll look it up during the break. And then UK
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: beat UConn 74% in the championship game to win, to
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: take the title of best three players. But don't you
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: think that would still, if Anthony Davis was on the
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: same team with John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, don't you
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: think that would be a fun team to watch?
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I think that would have definitely, I
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: was trying to think they're winning a three on three. Okay.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Three on three. But if you added, let's just say
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: you added Darius Miller as your strong Ford, Eric Bledsoe
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: is your shooting guard.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: John Wall is your point guard. Then you got DeMarcus
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: and Anthony as your front court. Don't you think that's
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: going to be a A strong, strong team. And I
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: think that would be a team that would definitely go
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: to a championship.
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: I mean, it could. Yeah, but I would replace Darius Miller. Why?
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Me personally. Would you really? Yeah. Okay.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: All right, well, who's going to be your center and
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: who's going to be your power forward as far as
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: between DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis?
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: 80 is your five, DeMarcus. Really?
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: I'm the other way around because DeMarcus was such a
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: rebounding fiend. I'm almost putting Anthony, especially when he's turned
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: out to be in the NBA shooting all those threes.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: I'm putting him out in the perimeter. Yeah, but you'd
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: want him, at least defensively, you'd want him at the five. Fair. Fair. Well,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: maybe you switch it up on offensive defense. There you go.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: I'm good with that. Okay, good. All right, we got
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: to take our last break. 502-414-1450.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: You want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: I'll get to the last ones as soon as we
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: get back.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: Take care. Why did I say take care? We'll be
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: right back. Don't go anywhere. We'll be right back. With
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: his swinging on a ball and chain It's always understood
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: By those who play the game That for children
