- 0:48Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's Word with notes, quotes,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and stories, along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:03Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations
- 1:12Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:20Speaker 1: for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:27Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:33Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:40Speaker 2: We read in Luke seven twenty two, go your way
- 1:44Speaker 2: and tell John what things you have seen and heard,
- 1:48Speaker 2: How that the blind see, the lame walk, and the
- 1:51Speaker 2: lepers are cleansed, the death here and the dead are raised,
- 1:55Speaker 2: and to the poor the gospel is preached. You know
- 1:59Speaker 2: what We talk in an earlier segment about how we
- 2:03Speaker 2: trust the Lord in this particular case, how are we
- 2:08Speaker 2: really trusting in the Lord when everything seems to be
- 2:12Speaker 2: going right or the way we want our lives to be.
- 2:16Speaker 2: It's easy to trust in the Lord, but what about
- 2:19Speaker 2: when things are not going the way we would hope?
- 2:22Speaker 2: Do we have a firm foundation in life? Examples that
- 2:26Speaker 2: are trusting in the Lord. Abraham trusted that the Lord
- 2:30Speaker 2: would resurrect his son Isaac when he was called to
- 2:34Speaker 2: sacrifice him to the Lord. Job lost everything and trusted
- 2:40Speaker 2: God with his very life. Daniel entered the lion's den
- 2:44Speaker 2: fully trusting the Lord. Joseph prospered while in prison, and
- 2:50Speaker 2: as a prime Minister of Egypt. David trusted in the
- 2:56Speaker 2: Lord of Israel to deliver the Philistines by slaying the
- 3:00Speaker 2: giant Goliath. There are many examples of those who trusted
- 3:06Speaker 2: in the Lord when the tide was turned against them.
- 3:10Speaker 2: As we studied the life of Jesus, we recognize vivid
- 3:13Speaker 2: illustrations of some we regard now as strong in the faith. Mary,
- 3:19Speaker 2: the Mother of Jesus, resigns herself to personal ridicule and
- 3:24Speaker 2: exile for the miracle of the virgin birth. Mary's cousin Elizabeth,
- 3:31Speaker 2: who is Zechariah's wife, is the mother of John the Baptizer.
- 3:37Speaker 2: John was regarded as the most important of the prophets,
- 3:41Speaker 2: perhaps because he actually recognized that Jesus is the Lamb
- 3:46Speaker 2: of God. Looking further into John's life, we find that
- 3:50Speaker 2: he was a radical believer that he would announce the
- 3:54Speaker 2: coming Messiah. He proclaimed this very position when he was
- 3:58Speaker 2: asked by his follower if he was the Messiah. Listen
- 4:03Speaker 2: to his words, I am the voice crying in the
- 4:07Speaker 2: wilderness for men to repent. John was what today would
- 4:11Speaker 2: be called an evangelist. His message was clear, repent and
- 4:16Speaker 2: be baptized. Did everything work out the way John had hoped? Well?
- 4:22Speaker 2: Would you consider that being put into prison awaiting the
- 4:25Speaker 2: executioner's acts a time to trust in the Lord. John
- 4:30Speaker 2: baptized Jesus, but desired to be baptized by him. In
- 4:35Speaker 2: his prison cell, he sends some of his disciples to
- 4:39Speaker 2: inquire of Jesus if, in fact, he is the Messiah.
- 4:45Speaker 2: When John's followers asked Jesus if he was the Messiah
- 4:49Speaker 2: or should they look for another, Jesus stated that they
- 4:53Speaker 2: were to return to John and tell him the prophetic
- 4:56Speaker 2: works being performed. Hearing this, John was able to lay
- 5:01Speaker 2: his head on the chopping block, trusting in the Lord
- 5:04Speaker 2: for his eternal soul.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But if you've just joined.

- 5:43Speaker 1: on the Word with Richard Kay include Great Is Thy
- 5:46Speaker 1: Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again,
- 5:52Speaker 1: here is Richard to wrap up today's message.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Can we learn to trust in the Lord in the
- 5:59Speaker 2: same way? In Luke seven, two Jesus' words to the
- 6:04Speaker 2: followers of John, go your way and tell John what
- 6:09Speaker 2: things you've seen and heard? How that the blind sea
- 6:13Speaker 2: the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf here
- 6:16Speaker 2: the deador raised, and to the poor the good news
- 6:21Speaker 2: is preached. And that is today's Reflection on the Word.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 6:31Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
