- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10It's like I need a friend right now and you guys are smashing
- 0:13the shit out of me. Welcome to What's Your least
- 0:16Favorite Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:19the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all of our
- 0:22favorite. And least favorite?
- 0:23Scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:25movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:27Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:29My name is Jesse and we're back. Another Pride Month movie.
- 0:34This time we're talking about 2020's Freaky.
- 0:38Yeah, the Patreon pick for this month.
- 0:40Yes. And Speaking of Patreon and
- 0:42Prime Month, we just want to remind everybody that all of our
- 0:45Patreon proceeds this month are being donated to the Trevor
- 0:49Project, which is a nonprofit organization that provides
- 0:54emergency like mental health services and lifeline support,
- 0:59things like that to LGBTQ youth. It's amazing.
- 1:06So if you want to, you know, get some bonus content while also
- 1:11making a donation, you can sign up to be a patron for one month
- 1:15and one month only. Just make sure you do it before
- 1:17the end of June. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:19Then you know it. It's not, It's not like a huge
- 1:22donation, but you know, every little bit counts.
- 1:26Yeah, Yeah. I think our highest tier is $6
- 1:28right now. Yeah, it is.
- 1:30Yeah. So $6, you get like bonus
- 1:32episodes, all kinds of shit and. And you do some good for the
- 1:35world. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:36Yeah, so. All right, all right.
- 1:39Well, I guess I got the announcements, so I've got our
- 1:41poll. OK.
- 1:42So we talked about Knock at the Cabin last week, and a big
- 1:46topic, nice big topic on that episode was Jesse, and I
- 1:53couldn't agree on whether or not it was real or not, so we
- 1:56figured we'd ask you guys. Does this is the apocalypse for
- 1:59real? Does it?
- 2:00Well, let's find out. That was the poll.
- 2:02That's exactly how you wrote it too.
- 2:04Yeah, pretty much. You're an accountant, not not a
- 2:06wordsmith. Well, it translates like binary.
- 2:12I don't know. I don't know what the fuck I'm
- 2:15talking about now. All right, getting out of there.
- 2:18All right. So, yeah.
- 2:19Were the foreign traders telling the truth or was it a lie?
- 2:22So over on Twitter, 90% believe that they were being honest, 10%
- 2:29believe that they were all lying.
- 2:31I think some people are just ready to fucking murder someone
- 2:33in their family. Well, we had some people saying
- 2:38that they feel like that they actually believed that they but
- 2:43they don't necessarily know if it was actually real.
- 2:45Oh OK, so maybe you just worded it poorly.
- 2:48I did, I said were they being honest or were they lying?
- 2:51But that was the question that like we were asking ourselves,
- 2:55well, we were also asking if it was real.
- 2:57Yeah, no, I was saying, is this real?
- 2:59I don't think it was real. OK, well, I guess I worded it a
- 3:04little bit different on Instagram because the question
- 3:06there was was it all real or a lie?
- 3:08So over there it's like evenly split 5050 and it wasn't like
- 3:13two people voting. So which it was kind of a
- 3:18shocker to me, but I guess it's a matter of how I asked the
- 3:21question. So I guess it's up in the air.
- 3:25Yeah. Like I if you listen to the
- 3:28episode, you'll see that I would very much believe that it was
- 3:32all true and they were being honest.
- 3:33And Jesse thinks that they were full of shit and it was all just
- 3:36a bunch of coincidences. Yep.
- 3:38Yeah. So, OK, that's our poll.
- 3:40OK, so are we ready to talk about Freaky?
- 3:43OK, so Freaky premiered on October 8th, 2020 at the Beyond
- 3:47Fest with a wide release of November 13th, 2020.
- 3:51Were they? Actually doing festivals in
- 3:542020. Around October I think there
- 3:59were some like smaller things were happening.
- 4:01So remember, Shaky Knees got postponed to.
- 4:04They cancelled it that whole year.
- 4:05Yeah, they did, didn't they? Yeah.
- 4:06And they did it October the next year.
- 4:08I don't know. I guess I just, I have the
- 4:10information here. I don't, I don't know anything.
- 4:12About how beyond this was conducted that year, I didn't
- 4:15think, I didn't expect you to have the answer.
- 4:16I'm just like thinking out loud. That's wow.
- 4:18OK, we watched it on Peacock, but as of today you can also
- 4:23stream it on Fubo TV, Hulu Premium, or YouTube TV Premium,
- 4:27or you can rent it from Prime, YouTube, Google Play or Fandango
- 4:29at home. Formerly Voodoo.
- 4:32Written by Michael Kennedy and Christopher Landon.
- 4:34Directed by Christopher Landon, music by Bear McCreary and
- 4:38special effects makeup by Andre Freitas, Tony Gardner, Sven
- 4:43Grendland, Megan Riley and Joshua A Schneider with mask
- 4:47design by Bryan Christenson. Wow.
- 4:49And that's a team. Well, they went heavy on the
- 4:53gore for this movie, so. Shockingly I I was caught off
- 4:57guard even though I had seen this before.
- 4:59Yeah, I forgot like how gnarly some of the deaths were.
- 5:02Yeah. Right off the bat, too.
- 5:04That's kind of crazy. They got a guy for the mask too.
- 5:06I feel like the mask is barely present.
- 5:08OK, well, we had the mask at the beginning, but we also had the
- 5:11Aaron Rodgers mask. It was OK, Very important to
- 5:14remember Rodgers. Mask and kudos.
- 5:19Starring Vince Vaughn as The Butcher, Catherine Newton as
- 5:23Millie, Celeste O'Connor as Nayla Chones, Misha Oshervich as
- 5:28Josh Detmer, Dana Drury as Charlene Kessler, Katie Finneran
- 5:33as Coral Kessler, and Uriah Shelton as Booker Shelton.
- 5:39I don't think his last name was Shelton.
- 5:40I think I wrote Shelton twice. Uriah Shelton is Booker.
- 5:43I'm not sure what his last name is.
- 5:45Isn't it crazy that we get to talk about Vince Vaughn on here?
- 5:49Vince thought it. Happened.
- 5:50Never thought. It happened.
- 5:53OK, so I'm just gonna spoil now. My original theme for the movies
- 5:59was gonna be like this guy's starring in a horror movie, but
- 6:03I couldn't find a good third. One.
- 6:05Oh man, so there were at least two.
- 6:07Yeah. Are they movies that you have
- 6:09here? One is.
- 6:10OK, then we'll save that then. Yeah, but the other one was
- 6:13gonna be, I forget what it's called, but it's the one
- 6:16starring Kevin James. Oh, oh, what is that?
- 6:20I, I know he's like a Becky. He's like a fucking Nazi or
- 6:24something in it. Becky.
- 6:25Yeah, it's Becky. Yeah.
- 6:26Wow. Yeah.
- 6:27White supremacist Kevin James. And that's a sense I didn't
- 6:30really expect. OK, Travis, it's time for our
- 6:34favorite game. Budget.
- 6:36Or bug Ted. Something about this movie just
- 6:40makes me think it's a bug, Ted, And I think maybe it's like
- 6:43seeing the Blum House logo at the beginning.
- 6:45Yep, that would be the the biggest precipitating factor on
- 6:49that. So it's got a budget of five to
- 6:51$6 million depending on which source you look at.
- 6:54So OK in our bug Ted category. Definitely.
- 6:58Opening box office of 3.6 million and a worldwide gross of
- 7:0118.1 million. I think we can thank COVID for
- 7:04some of. Those numbers like a big
- 7:06asterisk next to that. Yeah, and and IMDb score of 6.3
- 7:10out of 10. Wow, not too bad.
- 7:11Yeah. OK, so my theme is movie titles
- 7:15that sum up the general vibe of 2020.
- 7:20Oh nice, I like that. Cool.
- 7:23So the Nikki. Is kind of good for one.
- 7:25Too. Yeah.
- 7:27So the first one is Scare Me, which that's actually a really
- 7:31good movie. If you haven't seen it.
- 7:33It's on Shudder. It's about two authors in a
- 7:36cabin telling scary stories to each other.
- 7:38That was really good. Yeah.
- 7:39And the cinematography and the way they do the storytelling is
- 7:43just amazing. Yeah.
- 7:45Yeah, that one really caught me off guard.
- 7:47I liked it a lot. So that released October 1st
- 7:502020 and I don't have any budget or gross information cuz again
- 7:54shutter shutter yeah, but it does have a 5.7 out of 10 on
- 7:57IMDb. Shockingly low. 2nd movie, one
- 8:02of the movies that made the cut from theme to theme.
- 8:07Theme. Yeah, unhinged.
- 8:09Oh. Man starring Russell Crowe, who
- 8:12puts on a Texas accent for two sentences.
- 8:15We watched that for the first time like 3 weeks ago.
- 8:18Yes. Man, what a fun time.
- 8:20Yeah, that was such a Yeah, We were just that we were having a
- 8:22Russell Crowe weekend as as you have to do every once in a
- 8:25while. Nice guys, nice guys.
- 8:27Yeah, we we had a Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling weekend.
- 8:30That's exactly what it was we were trying to figure out, like,
- 8:33OK, what's another movie with these?
- 8:34Guys, then we did drive. Yeah, then we did drive.
- 8:36Yeah, man, now that's a good lineup.
- 8:39Yeah. So that released August 21st,
- 8:422020 had a budget of 33 million and a worldwide gross of 44
- 8:46million. 33 million for that movie, yeah.
- 8:49I don't feel like that's warranted.
- 8:51What did they use that for? Did he actually like, fuck up
- 8:55all of those? Cars.
- 8:56Yeah, I was gonna say it's probably like all of the car
- 8:58stunts. Yeah, it's a why, Yeah, I guess
- 9:00that that'd probably be a pain to film.
- 9:02Yeah, it has a six point O out of 10 on IMDb.
- 9:06Man, yeah, that's a solid. Movie that's yeah, that's the
- 9:08one that I'm sad we we it's not that we avoided watching it is
- 9:13that it's not like the most easily accessible movie on
- 9:15streaming and we finally got a chance to watch it so we did we.
- 9:18Just rented it. Yeah, fucking let's just do it.
- 9:20And then the third movie, Body Cam.
- 9:26OK. Because we were also dealing,
- 9:30George Floyd's death ended up being like a huge catalyst for a
- 9:33lot of protests. Not that police brutality
- 9:35protests, protests weren't happening before, but that was
- 9:39like a huge moment, so. Yeah, that was that was.
- 9:42Yeah, that's noteworthy events. So Body Cam released May 18th
- 9:482028 had a budget of 9.5 million and I couldn't find any
- 9:51information on the worldwide gross but it does have a 5.3 out
- 9:54of 10 on IMDb. OK, that seems like one we would
- 9:57probably end up watching eventually.
- 9:58Yeah, starting Mary J Blige. So I think that's kind of cool.
- 10:01Yeah, listening to her singer, I guess actress now.
- 10:05OK, OK, I've got 3 tag lines. Oh, OK, cool.
- 10:09So the one that's on the poster. Basic switch killer new look.
- 10:15OK, OK. Playing into the whole.
- 10:18Yeah, like this is a premise that we've seen before, but
- 10:21we're yeah, zhen it up some. OK, a body swap that cuts deep.
- 10:28OK. I kind of always appreciate like
- 10:30a good cuts deep, yeah. Yeah.
- 10:32And I mean especially because they swapped because of the the
- 10:35shoulder cut. Oh yeah, I didn't think about
- 10:37that. I'm just thinking about like all
- 10:38like the deep cuts. He actually doesn't.
- 10:43And then Friday the 13th of November, which I'm pretty sure
- 10:48Friday the 13th was in October in 2020 because it was supposed
- 10:52to be like an amazing Halloween month.
- 10:55So that one makes no sense to me unless it's gonna be released a
- 10:58different year originally. Yeah, I don't get that one.
- 11:01Was this freaky Friday notably in November?
- 11:07Let's see, when was Freaky Friday?
- 11:08See, I don't know the original, but I do know the one with Jamie
- 11:10Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. And I know there was a battle of
- 11:13the bands, and I think those typically don't happen in
- 11:15November. I think those tend to be like
- 11:17early fall. Late spring, That seems like a
- 11:19spring event. Yeah.
- 11:20So wow, we're getting real doing the math on that one.
- 11:26OK, I have some fun facts. Yeah.
- 11:29So Michael Kennedy had this idea after seeing Happy Death Day,
- 11:36which was kind of it. It took the premise of Groundhog
- 11:39Day and made it a slasher. And he loved that.
- 11:42He was like, Oh my God, what other kind of like, you know,
- 11:45notable stories can we retell in a horror way?
- 11:49And he'd friends with Christopher Landon, the director
- 11:52of Happy Death Day, brought him this like, very rough idea of
- 11:56the movie. And they just started like
- 11:57bouncing ideas off of each other and within 20 minutes had
- 12:00decided to like work on the skirt that's.
- 12:04Cool. Yeah, yeah, they they seem like
- 12:06a very good pairing. Yeah, yeah, I, I, I like that.
- 12:09And knowing that they were friends before makes me feel
- 12:11happy because I think they're, I like them both creatively,
- 12:14separately, but seeing them together is also really great.
- 12:18Yeah. This was filmed in Atlanta.
- 12:20And at the time there was like, a lot of rumors going around
- 12:23that it was actually a Scream reboot, funny enough.
- 12:26Yeah. Wow.
- 12:28Damn that's so weird. Yeah, let's see, it was a 33 day
- 12:32shoot starting October 21st, 2019 to December 12th, 2019 and
- 12:37it was filmed under the title of Freaky Friday the 13th.
- 12:40I like that, I like that, but I'm also in a way I'm glad they
- 12:44didn't go with it 'cause it's a little bit too on the nose.
- 12:47Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
- 12:48And then like seeing the title cards of like Wednesday the
- 12:5211th, I was like, I know what they're doing.
- 12:54Yeah, yeah. Fun little way to open up the
- 12:56movie and I was like OK, I like that we're merging these ideas
- 12:59yeah, they. Even had the same font that
- 13:02yeah. Yeah, so there was an interview
- 13:05with Dread Central. That's where I found out that
- 13:09Michael Kennedy and Christopher Landon had actually been
- 13:11friends. They wanted this to be a hard R
- 13:14rating from the Gore. That was their goal from the
- 13:17beginning. Christopher Landon was like, I
- 13:21haven't gotten to do really gross score in a long time.
- 13:25I want to do that. So they knew from the jump that
- 13:29they wanted it to be as like violent as they could make it.
- 13:33I'm glad, yeah, I guess. I wonder if they forced them to
- 13:35do PG13 for Happy Death Day. They like capture a wider
- 13:38audience. Yeah, I, I don't know, I assume
- 13:41maybe so. I always forget that that movie
- 13:43is PG13 just 'cause she dies so many times.
- 13:45But then when I think of it, I'm like, well, I guess we don't
- 13:47really see the actual death moments that much.
- 13:49It's all kind of like, cartoonish in a way, like.
- 13:52Yeah, it's very Looney Tunes. Yeah, it is.
- 13:54Yeah. Yeah, and I, I feel like we
- 13:56probably talked about that when we covered that episode plug.
- 14:00So I, yeah, I, I love that movie too.
- 14:03It's also got a great sense of humor.
- 14:05Speaking of other things that Christopher Lennon has worked
- 14:07on, he was one of the writers for Paranormal Activity 4 which
- 14:12also Co starred Catherine Newton.
- 14:14So he knew from the beginning that he wanted Vince Vaughn and
- 14:17Catherine Newton. She's in that, yeah.
- 14:20I, I keep getting surprised about all of these things that
- 14:23she's in and I'm like, wow. She actually had quite a career
- 14:28before before Freaky, which is what really got her on our
- 14:31radar. Yeah, I've seen her in a lot of
- 14:33things here lately, but I didn't realize it.
- 14:35Didn't he also do the second one 'cause I remember he was the one
- 14:38that confirmed for us the status of the dog?
- 14:42Yes, yeah, he, he he he's been a writer on the series for a
- 14:46while, but I specifically wanted to bring up four because of the
- 14:49connection to Catherine. And then the fact that he knew
- 14:51he wanted her in that role for Millie because he knew that she
- 14:55could bring like that softness and vulnerability while also
- 14:58being kind of like a bad ass when she's taken over by the
- 15:02butcher, right. So tying into our LGBT month,
- 15:08and this is a pretty like, this is one that we've got a lot of
- 15:12queer themes within the movie and we've also got queer cast
- 15:15and crew. Michael Kennedy and Christopher
- 15:18Landon are both gay. And actually this is really sad.
- 15:21When I was reading this, when Christopher Landon came out, his
- 15:24mom, who is a Christian, was not accepting of him.
- 15:27So, but luckily his dad and his stepmom, they had suspicions and
- 15:31I think the the kind of hint was that like they were more
- 15:34supportive. OK well I feel like they would
- 15:36have mentioned that if they weren't since they already
- 15:39called out the mom. Yeah, and then Misha Oshervich
- 15:43is non binary and uses they them pronouns.
- 15:46Oh, OK. So and I'm sorry if I'm missing
- 15:48anybody else in the cast. Those were just like the names
- 15:50that immediately come up to me. Part of that is because Misha,
- 15:54when you look at their IMDb page, like, very, like,
- 15:58androgynous, like style, OK, a mix of like, feminine mask
- 16:03stuff, which I love. And then obviously, we know
- 16:08Michael Kennedy wrote it's a wonderful knife.
- 16:11Yeah. And unfortunately have had to
- 16:14watch him fight with a lot of douchebags on Twitter who were
- 16:17like I just don't know why there has to be that many gay
- 16:20relationships. And he's like dude I had to grow
- 16:22up watching straight relationships all the time in
- 16:24all of my movies and they were all straight relationships.
- 16:26I want a movie where I can see all gay relationships.
- 16:28Fuck off. It was really weird than the
- 16:30build up to that movie, like seeing it because everybody was
- 16:33like so like there was there was like a pocket of people that
- 16:36were so outraged and vocal about how gay that movie was.
- 16:39And he was talking about I was like, yeah, it's so fucking gay.
- 16:41Like it's the gayest movie ever. Yes, and.
- 16:43Then like I went to go see and I'm like, oh, it's just like a
- 16:45fucking relationship. Like it's not even that like in
- 16:48your face about it. It's just like, it's not like
- 16:49super gay. It's just like, hey, these are
- 16:51characters and they're also gay. Yeah, like I like I was
- 16:54expecting it to be so much in your face about it.
- 16:56Exist. Yeah, like, I was like, I was
- 16:58like, is this really what people are so upset about?
- 17:01This is so nothing. This is stupid and.
- 17:03That's funny because I was reading an interview with him
- 17:06actually about It's a wonderful knife, and they're like, you've
- 17:09become kind of a niche for gay word.
- 17:11And he was like, yeah, I mean, I guess I mean, a lot of his
- 17:14movies involve those kinds of themes, but it's about writing
- 17:18what you know. And I think we see this kind of
- 17:24watching the progression of the Chucky series, the movies and
- 17:27the show, seeing Don Mancini be able to be a lot more out in his
- 17:33writing. And I I think seeing that
- 17:36growing like this is what we talk about when we say
- 17:38representation matters. Like having these things in TV
- 17:42and movies and media is important because gay people
- 17:45exist, whether or not you want to show them on TV.
- 17:47But having that support network, seeing that this just be
- 17:50normalized, like you were saying with it's a wonderful knife.
- 17:52Like they're it's just a movie. It's just relationships in a
- 17:56movie and they happen to be same sex.
- 17:57Or like with the Child's Play TV show, we've got two teenagers in
- 18:02a first relationship and they're navigating all of the
- 18:04awkwardness of that, and they just also happen to be gay.
- 18:08Well, not only that. Don Mancini and Devin Sauer are
- 18:10always fighting fuckers on Twitter about that too.
- 18:12Yeah, it's not like even before them with Cedar Chucky, like
- 18:15it's like a character questioning their ideas.
- 18:17Yeah. And I'm so excited to kind of
- 18:20talk about that growth and progression of the franchise as
- 18:25we go through it these next several months.
- 18:28Yeah, we'll have plenty of opportunities.
- 18:30For that coming up. Yeah, Yeah, I'm so excited.
- 18:31That's our current franchise. So yeah.
- 18:35And then I and then obviously the movie itself because we've
- 18:40got this main character, Josh, who is very gay.
- 18:44And then we also have an upfront discussion of using the correct
- 18:50pronouns. And I love that idea of the body
- 18:53you're in doesn't define who you are as a person, because I think
- 18:56that's something that is difficult for a lot of people
- 18:59that don't understand what it means to be trans.
- 19:03Yeah, I like that they made it the thing, but I don't know if
- 19:08they mentioned it. Did they mention it multiple
- 19:10times? I only remember it whenever they
- 19:12had the butcher tied up and. Yes, and I love that they did
- 19:17that very early on. When Josh refers to the Butcher
- 19:21and Millie's body as she and Nyla goes, he because it's the
- 19:27Butcher and it doesn't matter that it's Malley's body.
- 19:30We're talking about the person, not the body they're in.
- 19:32Cool that they did that. I felt like it was really
- 19:34jarring where they placed that conversation because there was
- 19:38like a very urgent crisis and she had to make a moment to stop
- 19:42and be like, hey, let me correct you.
- 19:45It was so quick and throw away that it didn't throw me off that
- 19:47much and I like that they made a point of saying that.
- 19:50So that way when people talk about the movie, they're they
- 19:54were very clear about how we are supposed to interpret.
- 19:56That's how I was doing it. I was writing it like he and
- 19:59she, whenever it was, you know? Yeah, when I when the switch
- 20:02first happened, in my notes I put in quotations Millie and the
- 20:06Butcher. But then as soon as, like, it
- 20:08was revealed, yeah, I started referring to them as the person
- 20:12they are rather than the body of their own.
- 20:15And, you know, I also love that moment where Booker kisses
- 20:19Millie in the butcher's body, like, 'cause he's, he likes
- 20:22Millie. And yeah, it's a fucked up
- 20:25situation all the way around, but, you know, it was in his
- 20:28heart. He wanted to kiss her and they
- 20:30kissed. And then we got to have a joke
- 20:32about how giant Vince Vaughn is. And.
- 20:35Yeah, it also kind of brings up another question too, of like,
- 20:37you're doing that shit with another person's body too.
- 20:40Yeah, that was a little bit. Yeah, like.
- 20:45OK, so I do also have some statistics that I thought would
- 20:49be interesting to share with this.
- 20:51And this is from the UCLA Williams Institute.
- 20:56And it's just some some statistics on the trans
- 21:00identity. So over 1.6 million adults, and
- 21:04they're defining that as ages 18 and older, and youth ages 13 to
- 21:0917 identify as transgender in the United States.
- 21:12Point, which is .6% of those ages 13 and older among US
- 21:17adults, about .5%, which is 1.3 million, identify as
- 21:22transgender. Among youth ages 13 to 17 in the
- 21:25US, 1.4%, which is about 300,000 youth, identify as transgender.
- 21:30Of the 1.3 million adults who identify as transgender, 38.5%
- 21:36are trans women, 35.9% are trans men and 25.6% reported they are
- 21:42gender non conforming. Forgive me but I feel like I
- 21:46need to ask if when you're saying trans women and trans
- 21:49men, is that like is the women part like what they ended up
- 21:53like changing to or is that what they formally were?
- 21:57What they identify, that's who they are, OK, Not who they were
- 22:02assigned at birth. OK.
- 22:03So research shows that transgender individuals are
- 22:06younger on average than the US population.
- 22:08So we find that youth ages 13 to 17 are significantly more likely
- 22:13to identify as transgender than adults ages 65 or older.
- 22:16And I have to assume some of that is social stigma.
- 22:22Yeah, surely. The racial ethnic distribution
- 22:25of youth and adults who identify as transgender appears generally
- 22:28similar to the US population, though our estimates mirror
- 22:32prior research that found transgender youth in adults are
- 22:35more likely to report being Latin X and less likely to
- 22:38appear being white compared to the US population.
- 22:41Estimates of the percent of residents in the US regions who
- 22:44identify as transgender range from 1.8% in the Northeast, 1.2%
- 22:48in the Midwest for youth ages 13 to 17, and range from .6% in the
- 22:52Northeast to .4% in the Midwest. For adults, the state level
- 22:56estimates range from 3% of youth ages 13 to 17 identifying as
- 23:00transgender in New York to .6% in Wyoming.
- 23:04The percentage for adults who identify as trans range from .9%
- 23:08in North Carolina to .2% in Missouri.
- 23:11So overall, based on our estimates from the 2016 to 2017
- 23:14and the current report, we find that the percentage in numbers
- 23:17of adults who identify as transgender has remained steady
- 23:19over time. The availability of the YRBS
- 23:22data has given us more direct look into the youth gender
- 23:25identity and provides better data than previously available
- 23:27to us for estimating the size and statistics of the
- 23:31population. So I found this website.
- 23:34They are founded by two lawyers or yeah I think 2 lawyers and
- 23:39they basically are try and they're a couple.
- 23:42They're a same sex couple and they wanted to look at LGBTQ
- 23:50statistics in a non biased way to try and help inform politics
- 23:56as opposed to the general like biases that we see from certain
- 24:04politicians. Oh yeah, that's a way of
- 24:06putting. It yeah and as always I'm going
- 24:09to include the link to that the website itself is pretty cool
- 24:12it's got a lot of like Interactive Data maps and stuff
- 24:14so if you want to take a look around there read their like
- 24:16about story I think it's all really interesting so.
- 24:19That is a shockingly low number. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:23I'm glad that Kentucky's not on the list for the extremes in the
- 24:27low end of Yeah, which is kind of.
- 24:30Surprising, though, yeah. So OK, those are my fun facts.
- 24:34Nice. OK, less of a bummer than last
- 24:37week. I know you.
- 24:38Yeah, it was a bummer last week, but maybe it was a bummer.
- 24:41We're kind of turning it on our heads this week and I decided
- 24:44I'd have more less bummer facts. It's cool man, the bummer stuff
- 24:49is important. Too.
- 24:50Yes, it. All has this place.
- 24:52OK, OK, so good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 24:55Yes, kick it off, Trev. OK, so this was our second watch
- 25:01and. Your second watch.
- 25:03How many times have you seen it? 33?
- 25:05OK so you've watched it once without me?
- 25:06OK well I remember the 1st watch I wasn't super high on it but re
- 25:15watching it this time I feel a lot better about it.
- 25:17OK. I liked it a lot more this go
- 25:19around. Yeah, like.
- 25:22This is one of those I pulled a good and a bad review because I
- 25:25was like, I don't know where he, I don't know how he feels about
- 25:28it right now. Yeah, no, I I liked it.
- 25:30I liked it a lot this time around.
- 25:32I'm glad we can add another Vince Vogan movie to our
- 25:36rotation. We have at least two, yes.
- 25:41I don't even know if you're wondering what the other one is.
- 25:43It's for Christmases with Vince Vaughn and.
- 25:44Reasonable. Oh, yeah.
- 25:47OK, yeah, I liked, I liked how they mix the two here.
- 25:52Now, I'm not super familiar with Freaky Friday.
- 25:55I've seen it like one time in school whenever they showed it
- 25:58on one of those days where it's like let's not fucking do class
- 26:00today folks. Like, but you've seen about a
- 26:02million parodies of it in other movies.
- 26:04I'm very familiar with the whole thing, so I wasn't able to like
- 26:10gauge how that was doing, but I feel like they played the Friday
- 26:13the 13th stuff pretty cool. Especially the mask that they
- 26:17use and. I like the mask A.
- 26:19Lot Silent Slasher and the Bone. I pick about Jason Voorhees all
- 26:24the time where people talk about his signature weapon and I say
- 26:26his signature weapon is whatever the fuck is available.
- 26:29Except this time, he actually does have a signature weapon.
- 26:32He's warning that dagger. But honestly when you think
- 26:36about the killing, he only wants the dagger to switch start to
- 26:40make sure that Millie can't switch back with him.
- 26:42So he seemed confused about that.
- 26:45Did he just grab the dagger originally because it was like a
- 26:47a blade that was available? Because the voices of LA Dolo
- 26:50were speaking to him. OK, I missed that, I guess.
- 26:53Yeah, Yeah. So I like that.
- 26:55I like the horror parts of this a lot too.
- 26:58Like I, like I said before, I like it was way more violent and
- 27:02gory in certain scenes than I had remembered.
- 27:04Like especially the opening with the kid that gets the wine
- 27:07bottle shoved down his throat and then he just busts the
- 27:10bottle in his neck. Oh, my God, that's inventive.
- 27:12That was some good stuff, actually.
- 27:16Like, it got some laughs out of me this time around, too.
- 27:19Like some of the delivery, like the opening line that you said
- 27:22there too, like, and you guys were beating the shit out.
- 27:24Yeah. Like, that was really funny.
- 27:26I liked it. Or like when she's like trying
- 27:29to explain to them what happened, but she's also in the
- 27:31middle of peeing and trying to understand.
- 27:34This. Body like that's just and they
- 27:36picked a good person to be both like a hulking killer but also a
- 27:41comedic lead. Yeah, yeah, he they needed
- 27:45somebody that could like play it like that for those.
- 27:48And Speaking of that, I feel like I can't remember her name,
- 27:53but the actor that played Millie.
- 27:55Catherine Newton. Catherine Newton, I've seen her
- 27:58like a lot of things here lately.
- 27:59This is probably the best performance I've seen from her
- 28:02so far. She like did a great job of
- 28:05really changing her portrayal because she's really shy and
- 28:09bashful in her normal body. But then whenever the Butcher
- 28:14takes over, like, she has to play like a killer and like, you
- 28:17know, kind of mimic those tendencies and like, she killed
- 28:20it. And when I think about the
- 28:21things that we've seen her in, and it's surprising to think
- 28:24about all the things we've seen her in, I think that's like a
- 28:26good sign of an actor in a way where she can be a chameleon in
- 28:29these different roles. Cuz I was shocked when we
- 28:31watched Blockers and I was like, oh shit, that's Catherine
- 28:35Newton. And then she did Lisa
- 28:37Frankenstein, which is a totally different vibe.
- 28:39And apparently she was in Paranormal Activity 4.
- 28:41So I guess we got to rewatch that and.
- 28:43Yeah, yeah, she just did a really good job.
- 28:47I was really impressed with it. Yeah.
- 28:50So yeah, that's my good stuff. OK, I am a sucker for a good
- 28:54horror comedy and I think that this is a good horror comedy.
- 28:57I think it's probably heavier on the comedy than a lot of horror
- 29:00comedies are, but that's not necessarily a problem because we
- 29:03do have all of the like, over the top violence that comes
- 29:06along with it. Yeah, I think like when you get
- 29:08the horror, like they really go for it.
- 29:10Yeah, So they swing for the fences and it pays off.
- 29:12Like it makes it OK. Yes, absolutely.
- 29:15And there's also like some real like touching moments in it,
- 29:18aside from what I was talking about with like, you know,
- 29:21Booker just like actually being attracted to Millie as a person
- 29:24and always like sticking up for her and trying to help her
- 29:27believe in herself. Same with her friends.
- 29:29But like we have this whole family drama that's going on
- 29:31because her dad died a year ago and the sister is hanging
- 29:34around. It feels almost in a way to try
- 29:36and protect Millie because her mom is has become kind of
- 29:40codependent on her. Yeah, I didn't really know.
- 29:43I was like, are you all trying to like, shoe in a little bit of
- 29:45scream here, too? Is she Dewey?
- 29:49I mean a little bit, except like so one of the bad reviews I had
- 29:52pulled. Well, we'll talk about it when
- 29:54we get to it then. OK.
- 29:57Actually, no, I didn't pull it because I was like, you didn't
- 29:59pay attention to the movie. So they were like, why wouldn't
- 30:01she just tell her sister that she's really Billy and just
- 30:04like, talk about childhood stories?
- 30:05I'm like, Are you sure they did? That yeah, like, yeah.
- 30:08Come on the The sister was a cop and a known wanted killer was
- 30:13right in front of her. Of course she was gonna like.
- 30:17Yeah. Shoot.
- 30:18Yeah, yeah, no shit. But yeah, I just like all
- 30:22around, it's kind of one of those horror movies.
- 30:24It's like almost like a feel good horror movie in a way.
- 30:26Yeah. And like you can put it on in it
- 30:29at any point and it would be fine.
- 30:31Is that what you did when you watched it without me?
- 30:32Yeah. You wanted to just feel good.
- 30:34Yeah, OK. Yeah.
- 30:35I think it was like a sick day or something where I was at home
- 30:37and I was just like, let's put something on.
- 30:38And I was like, yeah, let's watch Freaky girls.
- 30:41Daddy doesn't like it, so we'll watch it together.
- 30:43Did I shit on it the first time we watched?
- 30:45It you said that you were not a fan of it, you you weren't like
- 30:48harsh about it, but you're just like, it's not what I wanted it
- 30:51to be. I yeah, I think I had, I think
- 30:54maybe what it was is like I was expecting it to be like a little
- 30:57bit harder with a horror maybe. OK.
- 30:59But I can't really remember though, because we watched it
- 31:01like back then in 2020 because like that was when they were
- 31:04doing like straight to Peacock and shit like.
- 31:06That. Yeah.
- 31:08OK. You got any more?
- 31:09Good. The the different ways of
- 31:13killing like we've got the wine bottle, the toilet, smashing the
- 31:16tennis racket to the head. Yeah, that's all in like the
- 31:19first five. Minutes.
- 31:19Yeah, stabbed up on wall art. We've got the whole fight with
- 31:23fucking Cameron from Ferris Bueller and the woodshop.
- 31:26Like splitting. Them in half at the.
- 31:28Stop yeah it like and then like the chainsaw at the old mill
- 31:33like there's some really creative kills throughout this
- 31:36and I I love it yeah for. Sure, OK.
- 31:40So what did you not like about it?
- 31:44I don't know, like, I guess it could have been cool to like,
- 31:47have the horror played up a little bit more.
- 31:48Like it still kind of felt like they were going silly with it
- 31:52whenever they were doing horror stuff.
- 31:54Like I don't feel like they ever really once, maybe like at the
- 31:57end, Like I wanted more scenes like at the end when like you
- 32:00think it's over and then he sneaks back in the house.
- 32:02Yeah, that's probably the tensest scene in the whole.
- 32:05Movie Exactly. And I think it would have been
- 32:06cool to do a little bit more with that because I feel like
- 32:09they focus way more on the fact like, hey, look at this like
- 32:12he's a girl now and now he has to do killer things, but he's
- 32:15too weak, you know what I mean? He's like.
- 32:17OK, you did that enough. Like maybe like initially and
- 32:21then like he figures out how to navigate this new body a little
- 32:24bit better. And he kind of does do that, but
- 32:26he like plays into just like stupid, like tropes like, you
- 32:30know, like a whiny girl trying to like play like the damsel or
- 32:33whatever, you know what I mean? So or I wish that they would
- 32:38have done a little bit more like that.
- 32:40Also, I just kind of want to see something different from Michael
- 32:44Kennedy. Is that his name?
- 32:45Yes, because like, I don't really know what else he's done.
- 32:48So this might just be a me problem, but I've seen this and
- 32:50I've seen a wonderful knife and they're both like, hey, let's
- 32:53mix 2 movies together that aren't really supposed to be,
- 32:56you know what I mean? Let's turn this movie into a
- 32:58horror movie. What if?
- 32:59Well, and that's kind of like the, you know, he had a lot of
- 33:02fun working on freaky and then was thinking like, what else
- 33:05could he do? So that was very much like, not
- 33:08an accident, but I'm going to pull up his.
- 33:11He's been like, he writes like the same movie, it feels like.
- 33:15I'm but I'm fine with it because I know what I'm going to get
- 33:19with him. You know what I mean?
- 33:20It's. True.
- 33:20Like it's cool, like it's fine, but like I just like, it'd be
- 33:24nice to see him like branch out just a tad bit.
- 33:27What else has he done? He just He was a staff writer on
- 33:31a show called Border Town. Oh, is that really all writing
- 33:37credits? Just those two movies?
- 33:39No shit. He has appeared as, like, a
- 33:42guest on several different shows and a producer and a couple of
- 33:45things. An additional crew.
- 33:48Oh, my God, He has additional crew.
- 33:49And American Dad. Wow.
- 33:52OK Under a different name, though.
- 33:53Yeah, Sam. Well, yeah, so you know, like, I
- 33:57guess like maybe mix it up next time in like, let's see what
- 34:00else you got in here. Like he could have maybe done
- 34:01that with Scream, but then again, like that's just like a
- 34:04meta movie. So just kind of what these are
- 34:06in a way too. Like hey.
- 34:07These are. This is the similarity between
- 34:09this movie. You get it, but it didn't really
- 34:12like it didn't hurt my enjoyment of the movie.
- 34:15It just like I just want to see what else you can do.
- 34:18OK. What about you?
- 34:21I guess I just, I like if you're gonna put in something where the
- 34:26lore or ritual or whatever of a thing matters, you either need
- 34:31to dive deep into it or you need to like basically icebox it
- 34:36where you're like, I don't understand it, but I know we
- 34:37generally have to do this thing. In this one they tried to act
- 34:41like they knew what Ladola does and what they needed to do, but
- 34:45they didn't actually really explain anything other than
- 34:47there was 24 hours to. Yeah, and like.
- 34:50Reverse the swap. It's.
- 34:51Almost like they tease us because they went to the teacher
- 34:53who explained everything in Spanish but then we never get
- 34:56like they don't do subtitles so we never really get to know.
- 34:59Yeah and I needed the subtitles cuz like my Spanish is a little
- 35:03rusty and like trying to catch everything she was saying is
- 35:06only catching like every 3rd word.
- 35:07Yeah I can. And those were the words that
- 35:09she ended up explaining at the end.
- 35:11Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I guess like one other
- 35:14thing. Do you have anything else?
- 35:17That that was pretty much it. I just, you know, if you're
- 35:20going to have like ritual or lore or something, you either
- 35:22need to go all the way with it or you need to just feel like
- 35:25very vague, kind of like they are and talk to me.
- 35:29OK, OK, one other thing for me I guess, and maybe this is just
- 35:35like experiencing another body, but like I feel like Vince
- 35:38Vaughn didn't really play it true to how Millie's character
- 35:43was beforehand. He went way over the top with
- 35:46it. Yeah, it's a.
- 35:48Didn't match her personality. Yeah, it was like we didn't, or
- 35:52maybe we just didn't see enough of her before the switch, but
- 35:54like. She was so timid, yeah, the
- 35:56entire time. I feel like we needed to see
- 35:58more of her one-on-one with her friends.
- 36:00Yeah, cuz like we didn't we just see her getting bullied
- 36:03repeatedly. Yeah.
- 36:04So it's like, hey, OK, she's in this body now.
- 36:06So like, I've got this new power.
- 36:08Like I can actually stand up to the people who are being mean to
- 36:11me. Yeah, I have a little bit more
- 36:12of that transformation. Maybe like having that new body
- 36:15like gave her a different like confidence.
- 36:18Which I think is something they were kind of trying to get at.
- 36:21I mean, she says it like pretty much out right, but like still
- 36:25it just mannerisms and all. It was just kind of like a
- 36:28little bit more over the top than I would expect.
- 36:31I will say though, the running is how Catherine Newton runs.
- 36:35I watched like a video clip of like an interview where somebody
- 36:39was like, well, why did you decide to make Millie run like
- 36:42that? And Vince goes, because that's
- 36:43how Catherine Newton runs. We asked her to run for us and
- 36:46she ran like that. So I ran like that.
- 36:50So that's like that little like arms up, like shuffle.
- 36:53That's how she that's what she does.
- 36:55It was really funny. That scene where she is or like
- 36:58running and then like her friends run right past like that
- 37:04was pretty good. That was a good visual gag.
- 37:05Yeah. OK, ugly stuff.
- 37:08Yeah. The fucking teacher.
- 37:10Oh my God. Fucking Cameron.
- 37:14Cameron. In my head, this is just what
- 37:16happened to Cameron after he took the fall for Ferris.
- 37:19Like stealing his dad's car. Like he just went down real hard
- 37:24and became a bully to teenagers I think and grew Fu Manchu.
- 37:28When he was in that museum in Chicago, a piece of him died
- 37:32when he looked at that painting. His soul was sucked into the
- 37:36painting. And he looked at her when she
- 37:38walked in the class one day. He's like, that's the face.
- 37:41Fuck that girl. Like he's just like targets her
- 37:46it seems. It's so weird that he targets
- 37:48her of all people. Like he's, he just wants to be a
- 37:51bully like everybody else. 'S I think he's one of those
- 37:54teachers that, like, never really outgrew high school
- 37:58'cause like, he's all over the jock guy's Dick.
- 38:02Yeah, like. Yeah, he is.
- 38:04Work and everything, and then he's making fun of like the
- 38:07least intimidating person there because that's who everybody
- 38:09else makes fun of. Yeah, I'm surprised he didn't
- 38:12like Pat, one of the jocks on the ass or something.
- 38:15Like a good game, champ? Yeah.
- 38:16I slap. Yeah, stop ass.
- 38:19Stop ass. Thank you.
- 38:21OK, ugly for me I guess would be Riler and all her fucking
- 38:27bullshit. I forgot about her.
- 38:29Yeah, she is, kind of. She's just like one of those
- 38:32weechie people. Yeah, like, she's mean for no
- 38:35reason. Like, she corners Millie in the
- 38:37hallway to, like, just shit on her.
- 38:39Like, Millie's just trying to get her textbook from her
- 38:40locker, and you bring a gaggle of girls around her and like.
- 38:44Oh, by the way, your mom works at Discount Bonanza.
- 38:47Yeah, like, yeah. Calm down.
- 38:50And then like immediately, like when she thinks Millie is a
- 38:52lesbian, she's like, know it like.
- 38:55Oh, I didn't necessarily take it as her being like homophobic
- 38:58towards her. I, she was just like, look, I
- 39:00didn't come down here to like, fuck.
- 39:02No, but she like starts texting her friend while she's.
- 39:04Being oh, right. Oh yeah, she's just trying to
- 39:07spread the rumor or not the rumor, I guess.
- 39:09Like, well, I guess she's kind. Of rumor, yeah.
- 39:12And then like, you know, she as soon as somebody like dies or
- 39:15almost dies, it's like, oh, we're besties.
- 39:17Yeah, kind of remind me of how there's.
- 39:20Yes, yes, for sure. Oh my God, she would be like a
- 39:25good like. She'd be a good habit.
- 39:27Yeah, yeah. OK, absurd.
- 39:32I thought it was kind of interesting that the butcher got
- 39:35really into like getting the look down whenever he got into
- 39:40her body. Like he went, he knew how to do
- 39:43that ponytail, which look, man, I don't think that that's easy
- 39:47to pull off. I've had like a long hair.
- 39:49I suck at that shit. I guarantee that he doesn't do
- 39:52grooming. He like, sleeps in the fucking
- 39:53abandoned mill. Yeah, no, and he's got like a
- 39:56cute little cat eye. Eye.
- 39:58Yeah, there's no chance, man. Like I feel like in reality he
- 40:01would have like wandered in there in his pajamas still like
- 40:03not giving a fuck what he's wearing.
- 40:05Yes, absolutely. And also just like how easily
- 40:09everybody buys into though, like, hey, it's me.
- 40:11I'm Millie and Vince Vaughn's body and everybody's like, oh
- 40:14wow, cool. Like it takes like a little bit
- 40:16convincing, but it happens surprisingly fast, like less
- 40:20than 5 minutes. Everybody's on board and it's
- 40:23just like a little bit of like, like, what if this guy was like,
- 40:26you know, stalking you guys and knew these secrets that you, you
- 40:30know. Yeah, they don't know enough
- 40:32about the Butcher to know that that's not what he does.
- 40:35It's funny, like, whenever he or she is, like, reciting the poem
- 40:39that she slipped Booker before, Like, what if he just got a copy
- 40:43of it? You know what I mean?
- 40:44Like, he could have just, like, been like, yeah.
- 40:46So like, I'm the, like, everybody was so on board to
- 40:49just, like, embrace it. This person isn't another body.
- 40:52Like, everybody's cool with it. That's pretty much it from my
- 40:55absurds. MY2 observes are when the
- 41:01butcher in Millie's body is tied up and Booker comes to and he
- 41:05keeps saying Booker, but he's saying Booger and he's like
- 41:08Booger, Booger, look at me. Is that intentional?
- 41:11I couldn't tell if that was Miss Newton or if that was an actual
- 41:16thing. He didn't hear a query, so he's
- 41:18like, all right, Booger I. Could see that being a thing
- 41:21that Vince Vaughn would come up with and be like, look, if it
- 41:23was cuz I could see this being one of those movies where it's
- 41:26very much like the actors kind of act out the scene for the
- 41:28other person. How they would do it.
- 41:30That would be and I could very much see that being Vince Vaughn
- 41:34would say Booger. Yeah, I could see that's very
- 41:36much on brand for him. Like how he would approach that.
- 41:39You're right. And then also, and this is like
- 41:42a wholesome absurd for all of the portraits of Josh and I'm
- 41:48going to I'm going to use he him pronouns because that's for the
- 41:50character. Yeah, Josh and his mom, all of
- 41:55their like amazing, like over the top portraits throughout the
- 41:59house. I didn't pay.
- 42:01Attention. Oh my God, they were just
- 42:02catching like every room there were like these like they're in
- 42:05glammed up outfits. It's very like, it's not even,
- 42:09it's above Sears level. It's like the glam booth studio
- 42:14in the mall or. Whatever.
- 42:15Oh man, I had to do one of those for my mom whenever she was
- 42:18doing like head shots. For glamour shots, that's the
- 42:20word I'm thinking. Glamour shots.
- 42:21Yep, I had to do one of those. Yeah.
- 42:23It reminds me of 21 Jump St. when they like go and look at
- 42:26Jonah Hill's pictures like a little Jay Leno it.
- 42:30Was no young Fred Savage? Yeah, man, it's so fun.
- 42:36Yeah, I, I love that. I I would watch like a 20 minute
- 42:41short of the two of them, just like live in a normal day
- 42:44together, Yeah. We didn't really get a lot of
- 42:46her, but yeah, they had like some fun little moments here.
- 42:49OK cool, so let's rated. OK.
- 42:55I think I am going to give this a 7 1/2.
- 42:58OK. No, I wanna give it an 8, OK?
- 43:00I have a lot of fun with it. Like I said, it's like becoming
- 43:03one of those. That's like a good comfort movie
- 43:05for me. OK.
- 43:07So 7.75 starting rating and I think that's pretty solid shit.
- 43:10One point she haven't passed, all right.
- 43:14Ready to talk about it? Let's do it.
- 43:16So we start off Wednesday the 11th, and I'm going to be
- 43:21honest, like that moment instantly won me.
- 43:23The first time we watched it, I was like, Oh yeah.
- 43:25Like I could see exactly what kind of sense of humor they were
- 43:28going to have. So it was, it was good.
- 43:30There it's four teens sitting around telling the story of the
- 43:34Blitzfield Butcher. And they talk about how there's
- 43:37a new story every year, and it's always around homecoming.
- 43:40And it's like a false morality play to try and convince teens
- 43:42not to drink and have sex. And then Isaac is fucking around
- 43:48and he spills his girlfriend's beer all over her.
- 43:50And she's annoyed, Rightly so. Yeah.
- 43:53And then Jenny says, hey, you can go clean up in the barn.
- 43:58There's soda water. Fucking barn.
- 44:00Really. You're calling this a barn?
- 44:02This is some rich people. Shit, it's like a fucking
- 44:03mansion, man. Yeah, that's not a barn.
- 44:06And wait, soda water. Yeah, it's.
- 44:10Liquid. Death.
- 44:11No. Like carbonated water, OK.
- 44:14Yeah, weird. OK, well why don't I just go to
- 44:16the sink, which is? What she does.
- 44:18So she goes to clean herself up. Jenny's dad is an art collector,
- 44:22so there's a lot of like artifacts all around and they're
- 44:25kind of like looking around, messing with stuff.
- 44:28And Isaac C is ladola and it's just this kind of kitschy
- 44:34looking knife in a way. It's got like skull on the hilt
- 44:39and very ornate handle but it's like.
- 44:44Yeah. It was.
- 44:45It's not subtle. Yeah, no, not at all.
- 44:49So he's like wandering around and we see like there's a wall
- 44:52of masks and one of them's missing.
- 44:54Yeah. Oh man, I'm I'm sad that this
- 44:57mask doesn't stick around. I think it would have been cool
- 45:00if they picked up the mask for like when he switches bodies to.
- 45:04Yeah, or like, maybe just shoved a couple, like, grabbed a couple
- 45:08to keep along with them. So he goes downstairs and is
- 45:13like pulling wine. And you know that these wine
- 45:16bottles have to be several $100 because look at how fucking rich
- 45:19this person is. They have a wine cellar.
- 45:22So he gets startled by noise, drops the bottle and he's like
- 45:27trying to clean up the glass pieces.
- 45:29And he thinks it's his girlfriend, Sandra.
- 45:33And you know, as he's shouting at her for help, the butcher
- 45:37appears behind him, shoves a bottle down his throat, and then
- 45:39smashes the bottle. Oh my God, what an opening kill.
- 45:43Yeah, man, like that's one of the best kills I've seen in a
- 45:46long time. It was good.
- 45:49Yeah, so he gets killed. And then we see Sandra in the
- 45:52bathroom and she's like trying to clean herself up.
- 45:54And there's like a knock on the door and she's like, no, I'm
- 45:57still mad at you. And then an urgent knocking she
- 45:59goes. Knocking louder isn't gonna make
- 46:02me come answer the door faster. Aggro knocking.
- 46:05Yeah, aggro knocking. Yes.
- 46:08And eventually the door person and it's the picture and he
- 46:11smashes her head in with the toilet seat, which is gross in
- 46:14every sense of the word. I thought she was for sure gonna
- 46:18get swirly to death, but no, the bastion's good too.
- 46:23Then we cut to the other two who are having sex.
- 46:27See, I was gonna say they were sexing.
- 46:29They are OK. Well, they were sexy.
- 46:30Yes, both are correct and they're like walking away after
- 46:35the fact. But like I like.
- 46:37This switch on the trope too, because like, yeah, she's like
- 46:42we're done. And he goes, I'm not done.
- 46:43She goes, well, I am. And then I like her line.
- 46:46It's a vagina, not an all night drive through.
- 46:48And he's like, I just needed three more minutes.
- 46:52He's got a handy. Yeah, but as they're like
- 46:55squabbling like that, the butcher sinks up from behind,
- 46:58takes a tennis racket, breaks it in half, and then steps both
- 47:01ends of it through his head. Yeah.
- 47:03And it like it's kind of cool because the end effect looks
- 47:06like one of those like prop thing like prop head.
- 47:09Yeah. So Jenny goes and hides, and
- 47:12because it's her house, and because they're like gross rich,
- 47:16there's a secret room in her closet so he can't find her.
- 47:20But then Dum Dum decides she's going to crawl out from the
- 47:22secret room while the butcher's still in the house.
- 47:24Dude that's the thing that always gives me with these like
- 47:27scenarios. Like why not just stay hidden
- 47:29forever like for an hour like until the killer's bored?
- 47:33I. Feel like if you live in a
- 47:34literal like 27 room mansion, you have to have a painted room
- 47:38somewhere right? Truly like that level of wealth
- 47:41you're gonna have a panic room. Rich people are always paranoid.
- 47:44That's true, yeah. If I had a house habit, we would
- 47:47have a panic room. Yeah, we might have multiple
- 47:49panic rooms. We can make one, right?
- 47:50Now, like if you've got three wings to your house, panic room
- 47:54in each wing. Every wing, every room has its
- 47:56own panic room it makes. Me think it was like either a
- 48:02Tumblr post or Twitter post. Tweet if you will.
- 48:08Every room can be a panic room if you just give me a fucking
- 48:11second. OK, so she hears some honking
- 48:17outside and it's Daddy. Yeah, so she goes in normally
- 48:20Honk when he comes in. It's like those people when we
- 48:24were walking to the restaurant yesterday, like they were on
- 48:26mopeds and they were all just honking the entire way, and then
- 48:29I think they got to a red light and they just waited on it.
- 48:31She's like, at first I thought he was honking at us.
- 48:33I was like, you're on a moped. You were going 30 miles an hour
- 48:36so you can cross the street before you get to us.
- 48:38Come on. Chill out.
- 48:40So yeah, so she runs out to go get him, but the killer catches
- 48:44her and pins her up on some like art hours or.
- 48:48No, it's like an arrow. Is it OK?
- 48:50I thought, yeah, we didn't. See, we didn't see the full art.
- 48:52Before I thought they were doing the Silent Night Deadly night.
- 48:55If only. Linnea Quigley, Yeah.
- 48:57Yeah. But yeah, so the parents come in
- 49:00and at first they're kind of bitching about like, I saw
- 49:03another car, she better not have boys over.
- 49:05And then they look up and see her on the wall and scream.
- 49:07Very scream. Yeah.
- 49:09So maybe we are injecting some scream in here too.
- 49:13And he the butcher is sneaking away and he's like hearing
- 49:17whisper voices from ladola. So he smashes little boxes in
- 49:21and takes it. Thursday the 12th we see a tense
- 49:27family breakfast as Shar is asking Millie if she's going to
- 49:32go if she has a date for the homecoming dance and their mom
- 49:36Coral is like well she's actually got a date with me to
- 49:39go see Wicked at the Anna's Theater.
- 49:41She also, like, spotted a university, like an application
- 49:47and like, Millie had to, like, hide it really fast so the mom
- 49:50would notice. But she still saw it.
- 49:52Yeah. So yeah, yeah, try is like
- 49:54trying to convince her and like, hey, prom's super important, you
- 49:58don't wanna miss out on these life experiences and then.
- 50:00Especially to go see a local community production of Wicked.
- 50:04But a little bit brutal, I get it.
- 50:07But come on, there's a better way.
- 50:09Listen, I thought it was really harsh until I saw the commercial
- 50:12for it. When Josh was at his house and
- 50:15the production came on, I was like, oh, that's not good.
- 50:18Yeah, it was still. Sounding so OK.
- 50:21Community theater's important people.
- 50:23It is, yeah. So.
- 50:24Quote your local art scene. Was it char?
- 50:29Yeah, Char sees an empty wine bottle in the trash can and just
- 50:34kind of shoots the Mama look. So yeah, we get a lot of context
- 50:37for the for their family dynamics in a very short scene.
- 50:40And that's that's effective storytelling.
- 50:42It is. They play it all out there like,
- 50:44oh, going to college, you don't like that mom really clinging to
- 50:47daughter right now. Oh, and she's also drinking.
- 50:49Yep. All right.
- 50:51We, we know exactly what's happening.
- 50:53So Nellie gets picked up by her friends Joshua and Nyla, who are
- 50:58trying to, like, gilt her into going to the homecoming dance.
- 51:01And then they also mentioned that Booker's gonna be there.
- 51:04Booker Hooker. Yeah, the type of name that
- 51:09teens come up with because hooker rhymes with hooker and it
- 51:12also refers to sex. I.
- 51:16Thought Hooker was his actual last name.
- 51:17No. OK, so Nyla, like, also has this
- 51:22moment with Millie. And she's like, listen, it's
- 51:24been a year since your dad died. And one of the great things
- 51:26about you is you're so kind and you care about people, but I
- 51:29don't want you to wake up years down the line and regret not
- 51:33ever doing anything for yourself, which is a very wise
- 51:37thing for somebody that age to say.
- 51:39Yeah, that's unrealistic. High school is not going to hit
- 51:41you with that kind of wisdom right there.
- 51:43I mean, maybe. No.
- 51:45Probably not, but you know it's not impossible.
- 51:49It's not impossible, no. Maybe her parents actually put
- 51:52her in therapy like Millie's mom should have done.
- 51:55So she's at her locker and this is where Ryler and her mean girl
- 51:59click. Or just mean for no reason.
- 52:01Yeah, like, for literally no reason whatsoever.
- 52:04She's just there to shit on the way she looks.
- 52:06And like, that's just it. And also your mom works a job,
- 52:11like. Oh, good.
- 52:13Yeah. Wow.
- 52:13Yeah. Thanks.
- 52:14Yeah, she does. Yeah.
- 52:15Cool. Thank you.
- 52:16Yeah, thanks for noticing. She works really hard.
- 52:18She would appreciate to hear that.
- 52:21And then we, I don't know his name.
- 52:23I'm just going to call him Cameron.
- 52:25Yeah, he's got an actual name, but as soon as I saw that it was
- 52:29Alan Tuck, I was like, ah, it's fucking Cameron.
- 52:32He comes at Millie with the energy that the people in
- 52:38Tremors come at Melvin. It's like Millie in class now.
- 52:45He's like done with her shit for no reason whatsoever.
- 52:51We're. Going to blame the town's entire
- 52:53destruction on you, Melvin. So yeah, we cut to his class and
- 53:01it's like wood shop. Or.
- 53:03Whatever that. Class is Shop class.
- 53:06Shop class. Yeah.
- 53:07And they're making dog houses and he's like, really just like
- 53:11jerking off this. Guy this is funny because this
- 53:13dog, he was calling it with the Chateau Fido and he was like any
- 53:18dog would be lucky to have this house and Talia let out a loud
- 53:21snort because it's like such a tiny house her head wouldn't fit
- 53:24in there like. Talia thought it was funny.
- 53:27Yeah. I get it.
- 53:29So yeah, she is late to class. Apparently she's chronically
- 53:31late to class, but also supposedly only 5 minutes late.
- 53:36I don't know, but Booker's like hey, a trick I do, which is also
- 53:41something me Jesse as a human does.
- 53:43Travis hates driving my car because my car clock is 8
- 53:47minutes fast because I struggle in the mornings and it's the
- 53:50only way I can make sure I get to work on time.
- 53:53See and Booker does the same thing with his watch.
- 53:55His watch is always 5 minutes fast.
- 53:57I always do the math in my head. I'm like, I really have this
- 53:59much time. Like it does no good for me.
- 54:02Yeah, no, I need it. I need it.
- 54:06So Cameron there is trying to force Millie to present her
- 54:11doghouse like 5 days earlier. Yeah, she.
- 54:14Was like, you said I was presenting on the 16th.
- 54:16And he's like, oh, look at Millie Kessler holding up class
- 54:19again. And she was like, well, no, I
- 54:20just don't have it ready because it's the 12th and you said I
- 54:24present on the 16th. Except she's saying this all
- 54:26very quietly and he's like, speak up.
- 54:28And Booker calls him a Dick. Even, like, Moxer, like mimics
- 54:32her. Yeah, he's like way too
- 54:34aggressive. This guy sucks.
- 54:37And then they all get alerts on their phones against Scream 4.
- 54:41This. Time.
- 54:41Yeah, this is very Scream 4. Yeah, about the deaths that
- 54:44happened. So Millie, Josh and Nyla are
- 54:49talking about it and you know, Ryler is of course like posting
- 54:53on I guess it would have been Snapchat at this point or was
- 54:56Tiktok around yet I don't I don't know I.
- 54:58Can't. Yeah, Tiktok was around.
- 55:00This is 2020. The past four years have been a
- 55:03blur. For sure.
- 55:04Yeah, in terms of like social movements and everything, but
- 55:08yeah, she was like posting about how, Oh my God, me and Jenny
- 55:11were BFFS and Millie was like, Jenny fucking hated Ryler.
- 55:16This is like exactly taken from Heather's.
- 55:19Yeah, like I remember this. Yes, Oh my God, yeah.
- 55:22The one guy that was like our love will never get to be.
- 55:25Public. No, I'm thinking of the scene
- 55:28where Veronica is watching the TV and it's like the Heather
- 55:33from the end of the movie. She's like, Oh my God, I missed
- 55:36her so much. I loved her.
- 55:37He's like, you hated her. You shit talked to her like she
- 55:39was so mean to you. Oh, I was thinking about the the
- 55:42lovin that the hippie teacher hosts.
- 55:44Oh yeah. Though one guy was like trying
- 55:45to say that him and Heather were actually secretly in love.
- 55:49Yeah, there's a lot of good examples of that in the.
- 55:51Movie. Yeah, for sure.
- 55:54So, yeah, and they're saying like, well, surely they're going
- 55:57to cancel homecoming. And Josh is like, no, Homecoming
- 55:59is like the revival of Jesus in this town.
- 56:02And then it immediately cuts to the homecoming football game.
- 56:05I mean, this is all true. Yeah.
- 56:06I don't think that they would do that.
- 56:08And I'm just going to say it. Millie's got some moves in that
- 56:12mascot costume. I was surprised that she was a
- 56:14mascot, honestly. I didn't expect that, but yeah,
- 56:17yeah, she's like out there dancing and grooving.
- 56:21Yeah, football players are being kind of Dick sewer and just like
- 56:23throwing a can at her and. Orange.
- 56:25What a waste of orange soda. Why the fuck you drinking orange
- 56:28soda on the sidelines bro? Gatorade Water.
- 56:31Maybe he know. Maybe, like Kel, he loves orange
- 56:35soda. He do.
- 56:36He do, he do. It's not good for you to do that
- 56:38in this situation. Yeah, and teenagers are
- 56:41notoriously great about doing things that are good for their.
- 56:43Their coach is supposed to be there for that.
- 56:46The coach is Truthfully, the coach is probably Cameron.
- 56:48I'm going to tell you something, man, when you like do these
- 56:51sports for some reason, like there's just something there and
- 56:54it's must be like advertising or like Gatorade's like actually
- 56:57pumping fumes onto the fields, but like you want a Gatorade I.
- 57:00Kind of want a Gatorade now that we can sorry about it They're.
- 57:03Pumping in here too. So anyway, the game is over.
- 57:07Josh offers Millie a ride and she goes, now it's OK, my mom's
- 57:10on the way and they're like, what do you want us to wait?
- 57:12And she goes, no, I'm sure it's fine.
- 57:13There's plenty of people around and I think the friends didn't
- 57:16really want to leave cuz they know.
- 57:17They knew. Yeah, you.
- 57:18Could tell, but they did. They didn't do that.
- 57:20Like, well, we're gonna stay around anyway.
- 57:22They just trusted their friend who trusted her mom.
- 57:26And then was all alone at the football field.
- 57:29Very Mike Birbiglia. I was done with swimming class.
- 57:33I was in my wet Speedo. Mom wasn't even on the way.
- 57:36That's that's really in the moment.
- 57:39Yeah, like she's out there just sitting on the bench.
- 57:41All the lights are out now. And like, it got me thinking
- 57:45like, damn, you know what? That actually probably, and this
- 57:47is sounds terrible, but it's probably like a bad, like a good
- 57:50opportunity for people to like get somebody because if that
- 57:54this happens often, like it happened to me growing up too.
- 57:56Like I would just like sit outside waiting for my mom to
- 57:59come pick me up sometimes. Yeah, I was in marching band
- 58:02because I'm really cool. And I remember after football
- 58:05games, like sometimes because we would have to stay around and
- 58:07help clean the stadium for some reason, and like, we'd be some
- 58:12of the last ones to leave. And it's fucking scary around an
- 58:14empty stadium at night. Yeah.
- 58:16Yeah, definitely. Even more so whenever you walk
- 58:19across the street and you see a man with the mask just staring
- 58:22at you, which is what Nelly is experiencing in this moment.
- 58:25Yeah. And she started saying, like,
- 58:26because she tries to call her mom, her mom doesn't answer.
- 58:29And Shar walks in and sees mom passed out and answers the
- 58:34phone. And Millie says that she hasn't
- 58:37been picked up yet. And then her phone dies.
- 58:40So she looks up. She sees the butcher, and she
- 58:42says, my sister's on the way. She's a cop with a gun.
- 58:47And then he starts chasing her, and she goes running.
- 58:50She squeezes through the gates, and he just, like, knocks him
- 58:55down. Yeah.
- 58:56So the chase leads all the way to the football field.
- 58:59The butcher pins Millie down, manages to stab her right in the
- 59:03shoulder. Here's the thing.
- 59:05I get that for maybe it's like this.
- 59:10You can't have your main character killed right away.
- 59:14Yeah, but also, we've seen this man as an unstoppable killing
- 59:20machine and suddenly he's got somebody a full foot shorter
- 59:24than him and probably 100 lbs lighter pinned to the ground and
- 59:27he misses her heart. Yeah, it's it's nice this guy's
- 59:32got experience on his side. I'm not, I'm not buying it that
- 59:36he's. No, this isn't some Ghostface
- 59:39bullshit. He's a known murderer.
- 59:41Like, yeah. This guy's supposed to be like
- 59:43Jason. Yeah.
- 59:44And we he's been so good at it. But yeah.
- 59:48But when he does it, we kind of get like a shift in the
- 59:51universe. They're kind of like on the
- 59:53temple steps. Ade Duwe Dumbala.
- 59:56Yes, right here. The moon comes out and then
- 59:59closes back up and they both feel something weird.
- 1:00:02He's got an injury to his shoulder too.
- 1:00:05That's weird. Yeah, and they don't even
- 1:00:07explain that. It's just like a thing that
- 1:00:09happens. Ladola, ladola, ladola.
- 1:00:14And then Shar comes in and the butcher runs off.
- 1:00:18But, you know, she calls in reinforcements to, you know,
- 1:00:22start the manhunt, but also to, you know, get Millie medical
- 1:00:26attention. Yeah.
- 1:00:28And then we have like, this whole, like, quiet kind of
- 1:00:31montage. Like we don't hear necessarily
- 1:00:34direct conversations, but we just see Millie kind of like
- 1:00:37zoned out as she's sitting in the ambulance than the police
- 1:00:40station and she's in the bathtub and like her mom like freaking
- 1:00:44out about everything and then shark fighting with her mom
- 1:00:46about it. Yeah, I think she's fighting
- 1:00:48about her, like leaving her there in the 1st place.
- 1:00:51Yeah, Millie's just, like, checked out.
- 1:00:52Yeah, the next morning my mom comes in and is trying way too
- 1:00:57hard to overcompensate and quote UN quote.
- 1:01:02Millie is not responsive, which Coral thinks is fair because she
- 1:01:08almost died because of her. I mean, I would approach this
- 1:01:12kind of the not like be overbearing, but I would also be
- 1:01:15like, you know what? You got stabbed in the shoulder
- 1:01:17by a butcher. Like sure, you can act a little
- 1:01:20bit strange. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:22And then we see, quote UN quote, the butcher waking up in the old
- 1:01:26mill that this is actually Millie, which we figure out
- 1:01:30Friday the 13th. Yeah, she is like freaking out
- 1:01:34and she asked this person that comes and asking for Jelly
- 1:01:36beans. Very Jack Black and Tropic
- 1:01:38Thunder. Yeah, it is.
- 1:01:40Yeah. And she's like, I don't have any
- 1:01:43drugs. Am IA teen girl.
- 1:01:45And he goes. You definitely have drugs.
- 1:01:47You are like you were. So undressed.
- 1:01:48He's like, I want to be, I want to be a girl.
- 1:01:52Yeah, he's like, I'll suck your Dick.
- 1:01:54All of it. All of it.
- 1:01:56Yeah, he's like, I'll suck your Dick.
- 1:01:58All of it. Damn.
- 1:02:01So yeah, this is where we realized that they are swapped.
- 1:02:04So the Butcher and Millie's body.
- 1:02:06And from now on, we're gonna just call him the Butcher and
- 1:02:08Millie and just know that, you know, their body swapped.
- 1:02:10Yeah, that's how I wrote it. Yep.
- 1:02:11And my. Notes too.
- 1:02:12That's how I wrote it too. And just for clarification for
- 1:02:14people listening. OK, so the butcher comes down
- 1:02:17and Millie's mom has been cooking up a storm.
- 1:02:21She's got all the bacon, all the pancakes, all the grilled fruit.
- 1:02:25Yeah, and the Butcher just starts shoving it in her mouth.
- 1:02:30She's his mouth. His mouth, Yeah, she says
- 1:02:32something about caramelized bananas.
- 1:02:34And I don't like the texture of bananas, but I love the taste
- 1:02:37and it makes me want to try and caramelize a banana.
- 1:02:39Cuz that might be like a delicious way to eat one.
- 1:02:42I'm just not getting on board with that idea of it being
- 1:02:45onions. So like, let's let's leave
- 1:02:47bananas the one for a minute. I don't need it to be bananas
- 1:02:51just yet. OK, so they get a ring at the
- 1:02:56doorbell. Millie's mom goes to answer and
- 1:02:58it's the postman and he just wants to check in on Millie.
- 1:03:01Millie's one of those people that like adults, recognize as a
- 1:03:06very kind, sweet person, and she is gonna peek after high school.
- 1:03:10Yeah, that's one of those ones like, hey, just like bear
- 1:03:13through this whole thing right here, Everything's great after
- 1:03:16high. School, it's that cliched, like
- 1:03:18things do get better, but they do get better, Yeah, for sure.
- 1:03:21And yeah, I think I'm not going to speak for you.
- 1:03:26I mean, I know we've talked about this, but like, I know for
- 1:03:28me personally, like it was very much as life got so much better
- 1:03:32when I got out of high school and out of my hometown.
- 1:03:34Yeah, yeah, way, way better for sure.
- 1:03:38And I feel like they only introduced this guy here for
- 1:03:40this one scene just because he was like Josh was talking about
- 1:03:44him being on Grinder before. Yeah, like, yeah, like.
- 1:03:48But then the butcher goes to grab a knife because Shar has
- 1:03:53come downstairs and he's going to stab her.
- 1:03:56Except Coral comes back in. At that moment it's like, Oh no
- 1:03:59sweetie, it's OK, I'll cut the fruit.
- 1:04:00It's interesting because this is like a killer, like, you know,
- 1:04:03an established Butcher and like, seeing him so easily disarmed
- 1:04:08like that. And then he just like, resigns
- 1:04:10to it. He's like, I guess I'm not
- 1:04:11killing. And I kind of love that, like
- 1:04:14him having to reckon with being in the smaller body and not
- 1:04:18having like the brute force he's used to.
- 1:04:22Yeah, yeah, it is kind of interesting.
- 1:04:25It's interesting at first but I feel like it gets placed.
- 1:04:29So Mellie runs out of the old mill and into the street and
- 1:04:34people are scared of her and there's already like, wanted
- 1:04:37posters and stuff up on the news and everything, so people are
- 1:04:40recognizing her and she's got to run and hide.
- 1:04:43I would have loved for at least one person to be like, Oh my God
- 1:04:46is Evan's fun. Like just like throw that in
- 1:04:50there real quick, you know? Like he still exists in this
- 1:04:52universe. Yes, I would love then be like,
- 1:04:55just like somebody be like, you know, if he cleaned up a little
- 1:04:58bit, he'd look a little bit like Vince Vaughn.
- 1:04:59Yeah, you. Know.
- 1:05:01Because they say so many things about the Butcher being ugly and
- 1:05:04having yellow teeth and Gray skin, and I wonder how Vince
- 1:05:08Vaughn felt about that. They really didn't do a lot to,
- 1:05:11like, make him look bad. They were just like, hey, don't
- 1:05:14shave for your day, please. Yeah.
- 1:05:15Get some stubble. I'm like, let's mess up your
- 1:05:17hair a little bit. Yeah.
- 1:05:18Yeah, you do look not great. Yeah, awesome.
- 1:05:21You look bad for a movie star. Yeah, like average guy.
- 1:05:26Fine. Like, damn, your teeth are so
- 1:05:30young. He's like, yeah, really just
- 1:05:33like having to cover his mouth now.
- 1:05:36So the butcher goes to get dressed and hates everything in
- 1:05:38Millie's closet. So it goes and steals some of
- 1:05:41Char's clothes, which is typical sister behavior.
- 1:05:44Yeah, I was going to say I thought that that was normal.
- 1:05:47Yeah. He's adapting well to that.
- 1:05:49It's like a nice weather jacket. Yeah, rocking it.
- 1:05:53Which like makes me realize that we don't ever actually see Char
- 1:05:56outside of her police uniform, so we don't have a sense of her
- 1:06:00like personal style. Do we?
- 1:06:04No Jesse Plemons in game night. Oh yeah.
- 1:06:07Yeah. In the uniform, yeah.
- 1:06:12So at school, like Josh and Isla come up and they're like, Oh my
- 1:06:16God, what's going on? Are you OK?
- 1:06:18And Ryler comes out because Ryler is like fame whore,
- 1:06:21basically. Yeah, because everybody monger.
- 1:06:24Yeah, Knows that she survived the attack, so she wants to
- 1:06:27like, get close and, you know, get all the Intel.
- 1:06:29That way she can make it look good for her somehow.
- 1:06:33Yeah, and the Butcher tells Josh and Nala to fuck off and then
- 1:06:38says Ryler let's go somewhere private to talk.
- 1:06:40And Ryler thinks she's going to get like, secret info.
- 1:06:43I feel like that fuck off is meant for everybody, but Ryler
- 1:06:46just didn't accept it. Yeah, no, that that seems
- 1:06:49correct. Yeah.
- 1:06:50So yeah, yeah, like, OK, let's go somewhere private.
- 1:06:53So this leads them to the locker room.
- 1:06:56Yeah, notoriously private places in the middle of the school day.
- 1:06:59Yeah, the Butcher's kind of like looking around for something
- 1:07:02that he can use to kill Ryler. And Ryler is just vapid as I'll
- 1:07:08get out, just trying to get all the gossip and secret details
- 1:07:14that she can then, you know, exploit for her own personal
- 1:07:16gain. And then the Butcher disappears
- 1:07:20for a minute. So Ryler gets up, hears the
- 1:07:23shower running, and like a creep, peeks in and sees Millie.
- 1:07:29But, you know, to her, that's the butcher.
- 1:07:32Yeah. Showering in there.
- 1:07:33Yeah, and so freaks out, runs out, runs into the real Butcher,
- 1:07:37but in Millie's body is like, Oh my God, the killer's here and
- 1:07:41the Butcher's like, you've got to hide.
- 1:07:42And then shoves her in this cryotherapy chamber.
- 1:07:46What kind? Of no.
- 1:07:47What kind of fucking school is this?
- 1:07:49There's no way. Not really not real.
- 1:07:53No, this is. Advanced.
- 1:07:54Technology. Yeah, I don't even think like
- 1:07:56our university. Has no, like, that's insane and
- 1:08:01then like, just, you know, how's her locked in there?
- 1:08:05She's done. She's yeah, she's just dead.
- 1:08:06Yeah. It like we just see the
- 1:08:08temperature plummeting. It's like -300° or.
- 1:08:12Something so Millie gets out of the shower.
- 1:08:15Same clothes. Yeah.
- 1:08:16Totally cool with it. It was kind of a bummer.
- 1:08:18Yeah, but I mean, where's? She, she's like, that feels so
- 1:08:21much better. And I'm like, I'm sure it does
- 1:08:23feel better to shower, but like, sometimes it's worse to, like,
- 1:08:27shower and then have to get back into disgusting clothes.
- 1:08:31Maybe like, after a really intense workout, you shower and
- 1:08:33then you put your sweaty clothes on.
- 1:08:35That's disgusting. Yeah.
- 1:08:37And she notices the cryo thing is like acting strange so she
- 1:08:43opens it up and finds Ryler's body and like taps it and then
- 1:08:46this causes her to fall down and just bust into pieces.
- 1:08:49Yes, very adjacent X Yeah. So the principal announces that
- 1:08:54the homecoming dance is going to be postponed due to the repeated
- 1:08:57attacks on our students. It's funny that they're like, we
- 1:08:59can do the game, but the the dance, No, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:04Somehow the Butcher knows Millie's class schedule and I.
- 1:09:07Think he's just wandering the hall and then this is when
- 1:09:10Cameron is like Millie. Millie, Millie.
- 1:09:15And it's like getting on to him. And then Booker, like, tries to
- 1:09:19ask Millie, quote UN quote, how they're doing.
- 1:09:24Millie finds her friends who are like, freaking out and they
- 1:09:28start running. And Josh has a great line where
- 1:09:31he's like, you're black, I'm gay.
- 1:09:33We are so dead. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:35Talking about all the tropes and horror movies.
- 1:09:38But Millie, like, they fight for a little bit and eventually,
- 1:09:42like, Millie gets them both knocked down and then starts
- 1:09:45like rattling off like personal details and they quiz her and
- 1:09:48then they do their secret handshake.
- 1:09:50And yeah, also at one point Millie gets kicked in the balls
- 1:09:54and she was like, wow, having balls sucks.
- 1:09:57It's a very easy target. It's always successful.
- 1:10:01Also like while that was happening in the classroom, the
- 1:10:05butcher is sitting there next to Booker who cuts or it gets cut
- 1:10:10by the butcher. I don't know what happened.
- 1:10:12It all happened so fast. He kind of, like, forces him to
- 1:10:14get his hand cut. OK, Yeah.
- 1:10:16And then like, sucks the blood off.
- 1:10:18Yeah. And then, like, the jock is
- 1:10:20caught and then Cameron's like, Millie, the things you'll do to
- 1:10:24get attention, like, just like, absolutely goes off on her.
- 1:10:27Again, Yeah, maybe if you didn't always give her the attention.
- 1:10:31Yeah, just don't even like, just don't.
- 1:10:34She's like, come on. So they decide that they're
- 1:10:39going to look up what ladola is, you know, 'cause Millie's kind
- 1:10:43of explained the situation to Josh and Nyla as she's peeing
- 1:10:46for a million years. And they see like there's riding
- 1:10:51on the hilt of ladola and Josh's like, this is on Spanish and I
- 1:10:57was like, you are in Spanish three.
- 1:11:00So they go to Senora and ask her to read it, and she reads it
- 1:11:05all. And they're just like, So what
- 1:11:07does it mean? And she goes, you are in my
- 1:11:09class, Senora Denver. Yeah, I.
- 1:11:13I love how she is. Yeah.
- 1:11:16And yeah, basically they have 24 hours to reverse the swap,
- 1:11:21otherwise it's permanent. Then we get my note just says
- 1:11:25Millie barks at a student. She actually just like, hey, I'm
- 1:11:29Vince Vaughn now. I'll bark at somebody and it'll
- 1:11:31maybe like intimidate them. And it does.
- 1:11:33Well cuz she's hiding in a bathroom stall and then a guy
- 1:11:37comes in and he's like I need this stall I got a shit.
- 1:11:40And she's just seen mean graffiti about herself.
- 1:11:44Was she pooping here? No, she was just like hiding.
- 1:11:47OK, because I was going to say like she stands up and just like
- 1:11:50no flesh, no wipe, no nothing puts.
- 1:11:53Back on Very On Brand for Friday the 13th.
- 1:11:55It would, Yeah, it would. But not for Millie.
- 1:11:59Yeah, But yeah, so basically, she realizes that she's much
- 1:12:02bigger and stronger than this guy and pins him up against the
- 1:12:04wall. And I was like, don't you ever
- 1:12:06be mean to Millie Kessler or anyone else ever again.
- 1:12:10And he pees himself. Yeah, this is my favorite thing
- 1:12:14in the movie. And it cuts to the teacher and
- 1:12:18he's like doing homework and he's just like looking at the
- 1:12:20papers. He's like, that's a fucking
- 1:12:22stupid name. And he looks up and the Butcher
- 1:12:27has walked in and has safety glasses on, good for him, and
- 1:12:34tries to fight the teacher. And the teacher wins because
- 1:12:38he's bigger than her. And he's like, the self-defense,
- 1:12:40The self-defense, We'll talk about this in the principal's
- 1:12:43office. And then they actually end up
- 1:12:45fighting a little bit more. To the death.
- 1:12:48Yeah, and at one point the butcher stabs Cameron in the
- 1:12:51neck with a screwdriver and he starts losing a lot of blood.
- 1:12:54And then that's when he, like, throws him on the table and saws
- 1:12:58him in half. Norley so.
- 1:13:00It's a good kill and they show it.
- 1:13:01Good job. So Millie and the Butcher end up
- 1:13:06crossing paths in the hall and the Butcher, like they have kind
- 1:13:10of a moment and you think maybe they're going to fight.
- 1:13:11Except as the Butcher goes, Oh my God, it's the Blissfield
- 1:13:15butcher help. Which is great, great strategy.
- 1:13:20Yeah, it is like I. Hate to give it to the mass
- 1:13:22murderer, but embrace it. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:24For sure. So Millie and her friends drive
- 1:13:27off and Shar follows because like right as the car goes past
- 1:13:31she gets the call for the APB. So.
- 1:13:33Yeah, cops are chasing, Yeah. They pull into the discount
- 1:13:36bonanza, which is where Millie's mom works, as we've already
- 1:13:39established. And they hide Millie in one of
- 1:13:43the dressing rooms and say just like, hang out here for a
- 1:13:45second. And then Millie's mom comes in
- 1:13:49and they have kind of like an awkward talk through the door,
- 1:13:53like her mom over shares which. Like really fast.
- 1:13:59Like, hey, I was just like Millie's like, yeah, I'm just
- 1:14:02here to try non poll. I was like, cool.
- 1:14:04I'm really good at picking up polls.
- 1:14:06I got my husband. From my dead husband.
- 1:14:08Also, do you want to go on a date?
- 1:14:10Yeah, man. This is moving so fast you want
- 1:14:12to move in together. Yeah, like, and then, you know,
- 1:14:16Millie being Millie at one point goes EW, no.
- 1:14:18And then hearing coral be heard and like.
- 1:14:22The look you gave me after that, you just looked at me and you
- 1:14:25looked heartbroken. I like, I felt bad for how sad
- 1:14:29Coral felt, but I also felt like really unconfident.
- 1:14:31Like, I get what Millie was going through because like, you
- 1:14:35know, she had her knee jerk reaction, but she can't just
- 1:14:37like have her reactions to things.
- 1:14:39She feels like she has to be responsible for everybody's
- 1:14:41feelings around her, especially her mom's.
- 1:14:43Yeah, she wants to be nice to her mom, but I think like any
- 1:14:45other person is kind of rightfully to be like, please,
- 1:14:48like, I'm just trying to try. And yeah, like, I don't have
- 1:14:50pants on. I mean on it.
- 1:14:53Time. Or place.
- 1:14:54So she walks out and Mellie's friends come in and they've got
- 1:14:58an Aaron Rodgers mask and she's like, who's that?
- 1:15:00And they're like quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
- 1:15:04Man, that guy way off the fucking deep end.
- 1:15:08He is a he's. I know nothing.
- 1:15:11He is like huge conspiracy shit. Is he really?
- 1:15:14He like, blamed Jimmy Kimmel for like being on the Epstein list
- 1:15:19and that like, 'cause like all it's all he's like big
- 1:15:21conspiracy. Shit, was he one of the
- 1:15:23believers in like pizza gate? I guarantee he is.
- 1:15:25He's so fucking stupid. He he goes on to trapezoid head
- 1:15:30Pat McAfee. He goes on to his show and just,
- 1:15:32like, starts talking about all kinds of stupid shit.
- 1:15:34Oh my God, yeah. Yeah, he's one of those guys.
- 1:15:38So the butcher is a like the mini golf arcade with some jocks
- 1:15:42who like put something up on Snapchat or TikTok or reels or
- 1:15:45whatever the fuck was there at this time.
- 1:15:48And they're like calling her the unofficial homecoming queen
- 1:15:52because I guess I think that she's going to be and easy sex.
- 1:15:57And easy sex. And easy sex.
- 1:15:58That's the lingo that we. Use.
- 1:15:59Yeah, I was going to say an easy lay, but I just feel skeezy to
- 1:16:02say it's. I mean they are being skeezy.
- 1:16:05Yeah, I get that, but like Millie is not skeezy, so I feel.
- 1:16:08Bad thing. The Butcher is probably pretty
- 1:16:10skeezy. Probably.
- 1:16:11Yeah, he probably would have gotten all of his Dick sucked if
- 1:16:14he was actually in his body at that moment.
- 1:16:16Well, the fact that the the guy offered to suck all of it and I
- 1:16:19was like, I feel like maybe he's done this.
- 1:16:21I feel like they've negotiated before and it's like, you know,
- 1:16:23you suck at all. Or like he's like, OK, fine,
- 1:16:26I'll do all of it this time. Cradle the balls so.
- 1:16:31And then one of the guys there, he like grabs her ass or his
- 1:16:37ass. And this is like when she, just
- 1:16:40like he, whispers. Make my vagina drier than
- 1:16:44sandpaper. I can't wait to kill you, you
- 1:16:47fucking monkey. God, that was awesome.
- 1:16:50Yeah. And then like he just walks away
- 1:16:52and the guy doesn't know how to react.
- 1:16:54Kind of the like similar energy to Mary Lou in What's Surface's
- 1:17:00body. Vicky.
- 1:17:01Yeah, Vicky's body when the science T-shirt grabs her butt.
- 1:17:05Yeah, you know what kind of big Mary glue energy here for?
- 1:17:10Sure. Yeah.
- 1:17:12So you know, Millie and her friends, they go to the mini
- 1:17:15golf slash arcade place and they're trying to chase the
- 1:17:21Butcher. And Millie ends up, like,
- 1:17:25popping out and scaring Booker. But, you know, he freaks out
- 1:17:28because he, you know, thinks that Millie's the real butcher
- 1:17:32because of the body she's in. And she's like, no, you can't go
- 1:17:35tell anybody. And like, accidentally.
- 1:17:37Knocks him out. Yeah, knocks him out, just
- 1:17:39trying to stop him. So he wakes up.
- 1:17:43They're all at Josh's house. The butcher is tied up and
- 1:17:48Millie is trying to explain to Booker who she is and he tries
- 1:17:54to leave, but then she quotes this poem that she had put in
- 1:17:57his locker a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:18:00And this is enough to sell him on the whole idea that that is
- 1:18:04her in his body, which, yeah. And then the butcher is making
- 1:18:09fun of Millie for putting a poem in his locker and is like going
- 1:18:13on and on and on and they gag him.
- 1:18:17So they plan to go to the police station and steal the dola so
- 1:18:21that way they can swap back. And then they also need to stop
- 1:18:26the party at the Old Mill because it's a trap to slaughter
- 1:18:29all of these teens. And also, somebody has to say
- 1:18:31and watch the butchers. Which they nominate Josh and
- 1:18:34he's like, why? And they're like, because it's
- 1:18:35your house. And he can't really argue with
- 1:18:37that. Can't at all, no.
- 1:18:39So Shar and his mom is supposed to be out of town for the
- 1:18:42weekend. She is a flight attendant.
- 1:18:47That's important. Ish in a minute.
- 1:18:50So it isn't. It isn't.
- 1:18:52Yeah, so they figured that there's not going to be a lot of
- 1:18:54action at the police station because they're all going to be
- 1:18:57looking for the three of them, plus trying to, you know, keep
- 1:19:01an eye on the rest of the kids in town because of, you know,
- 1:19:04the whole murder situation and teens be partying when this shit
- 1:19:08goes down. They do be.
- 1:19:10So. And it turns out Shar is the
- 1:19:12only one at the station that night.
- 1:19:13So Nylon was like, got an idea? Basically what she does is she
- 1:19:17goes in there and she tries to tell Char that the the butcher
- 1:19:21followed her there and she needs to go, you know, find him.
- 1:19:24Dangerous game considering you know, the actual body of the
- 1:19:27butcher is out there in the car and like if she saw Millie there
- 1:19:32and she just shot. Her also yeah, also like, what
- 1:19:35if this was any other cop? What if it wasn't her best
- 1:19:39friend's older sister? Like somebody that recognized
- 1:19:42her instantly and all I knew was that she was wanted for being
- 1:19:46with the butcher. Yeah, yeah, it could have.
- 1:19:50It's very convenient. It worked out.
- 1:19:52Yeah, so she's trying to get little out of the like, lock up
- 1:19:59and she's getting phone calls from Josh in the middle of all
- 1:20:01that and everything while Shar is popping in and out and asking
- 1:20:04questions and stuff. Meanwhile, Millie and Booker are
- 1:20:08in the car and they're talking and getting, you know, pretty
- 1:20:11deep with their feelings and. Getting all intimate, Booker
- 1:20:15gets in the back seat and then they share a kiss.
- 1:20:19Yeah, yeah. And then they.
- 1:20:21He says. That he read that poem like so
- 1:20:24many times since it was left in his Walker.
- 1:20:27And he said, I hoped it was you. And she goes, shut up.
- 1:20:29You're only saying that 'cause you know, I wrote it.
- 1:20:31And he's like, I like you from day one, Millie.
- 1:20:35No. No.
- 1:20:36Yeah. Meanwhile, at Josh's house, the
- 1:20:38butcher is working on loosening the ropes.
- 1:20:40And Josh's mom walks in because the flight was cancelled.
- 1:20:44And Josh says that him and Millie, who his mom thinks is
- 1:20:49Millie, are role-playing. And she goes, isn't that a sex
- 1:20:53thing? And he goes, Mom, I'm straight.
- 1:20:57Yeah, he's. Like, come out that he's
- 1:21:00straight. I was like, no, you're not.
- 1:21:03Yeah. You're the furthest thing from
- 1:21:07that. Yeah, she was like, you're a lot
- 1:21:08of things. Yeah, straight is not one of
- 1:21:10them. So she frees the Butcher, and
- 1:21:13then the Butcher starts to try to kill them.
- 1:21:15Yep. I mean, that's really all we get
- 1:21:17with that because he ends up running out of the house.
- 1:21:20Yeah and she stays in there and like it's like the butcher just
- 1:21:23like fucks off cuz once you get to the mill yeah no, it doesn't
- 1:21:28steal the. Car no.
- 1:21:29So he the butcher goes to the police station, Josh follows to
- 1:21:33the police station and while they're there so the Butcher
- 1:21:37runs in, Char thinks that's her sister, and then Millie runs in
- 1:21:43and Char thinks that's the butcher.
- 1:21:45So there's this whole standoff and basically what ends up
- 1:21:48happening is the butcher is able to get Lazola run off while Char
- 1:21:53is trying to shoot Millie and put her in the jail cell.
- 1:21:58And Millie ends up tricking her, locking her in the jail cell.
- 1:22:02It is like, I'm really sorry I drowned your pet hamster.
- 1:22:05Yeah, I thought Regal could swim.
- 1:22:10So, you know, they they run off to the mill and they're going to
- 1:22:13try and stop this party and also, like, swap bodies back.
- 1:22:17So at the party. They they mentioned they only
- 1:22:20have 13 minutes left. Yes, until. 12 Booker gives
- 1:22:23Millie his watch and sets an alarm for 12:00.
- 1:22:26And it's really We just gotta remember.
- 1:22:29That yeah, just yeah. So they're in the party and
- 1:22:33they've kind of like all split up and are looking for the
- 1:22:36butcher. There are these three douche
- 1:22:39guys. 4 103 Yeah. You're right.
- 1:22:42Yeah. One of them is the one who the
- 1:22:44butcher said made Millie's vagina dry sandpaper.
- 1:22:49And he was like, nobody tells me that I make their vagina dry
- 1:22:53hot. What I.
- 1:22:56Come online yeah. It's also hot being like, you
- 1:22:59know, taken to a secluded area with three other dudes that
- 1:23:02yeah, like there's. Three of us and you have three
- 1:23:05holes, so they were definitely gonna rape.
- 1:23:06Her, yeah, for sure. Yeah, but the butcher has other
- 1:23:11plans. Takes a bottle, bashes it over
- 1:23:13one, takes the broken bottle, slits the throat of the other.
- 1:23:16And. Pushes the other guy chainsaw,
- 1:23:18and chainsaw's the dude's wee wee poof.
- 1:23:22Man, that yeah, that was that. Was which that feels kind of
- 1:23:25like a nod to Chainsaw too. Yeah, kind of.
- 1:23:29Yeah, 'cause like he does that. Yeah, yeah, he holds it up to
- 1:23:32Slim's crotch. Except in that case like.
- 1:23:35Yeah, reversal. He and that right there.
- 1:23:39The chainsaw as an extension of his Dick.
- 1:23:41Yeah. Yeah, in this case, removing a
- 1:23:43Dick. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:23:46Yeah, OK. So.
- 1:23:49Josh. Oh, the football player.
- 1:23:51Yeah, Josh finds a football player who says that.
- 1:23:54Yeah, no, I saw Mellie and then like leads him to this other
- 1:23:58room and then like tries to kiss him and Josh is like, what?
- 1:24:02No, what are you doing? And then the guy gets
- 1:24:05immediately like calls him a slur and stuff.
- 1:24:09Projected. Yeah, it's it's rough to.
- 1:24:12Projecto seat Cos. You know what?
- 1:24:18You forget about that Cos. Fast and furious, everybody too
- 1:24:24fast and furious. Too fast, too fast, too furious.
- 1:24:28Okay, so. The butcher kills the football
- 1:24:32player. Yes, pops through, has a hook.
- 1:24:34Yeah, through the wall. I thought you were supposed to
- 1:24:36be super weak but the Butcher is just full on breaking through
- 1:24:39walls now. I don't know.
- 1:24:41This mill probably hasn't been very well maintained.
- 1:24:44Maybe, I don't know, and this leads to a scuffle between
- 1:24:49Millie and Butcher. Yeah, and the cops are there
- 1:24:51also, so everybody's trying to keep the cops from catching up
- 1:24:54to the two of them before the swap can happen.
- 1:24:57So Millie chases the Butcher, and then the friends chase
- 1:25:01faster and end up tackling the Butcher, and Millie comes over
- 1:25:05and is ready to stab the Butcher when Booker's watch goes off and
- 1:25:12the Butcher starts laughing. It's like you're too late.
- 1:25:14And then Millie's like guess what?
- 1:25:17Booker sets his watch fast because the.
- 1:25:21Josh is like, oh, we're not hearing the bell.
- 1:25:22The Bell's not going off. Yeah, which that's a cool idea.
- 1:25:25Yeah. And then they realized, yeah,
- 1:25:28still got time, so they haven't been down.
- 1:25:30They stab. Swap back and then the cops come
- 1:25:34and they shoot the Butcher who is now back in his original
- 1:25:37body. Well, I am up.
- 1:25:39Yep, so. Cut to, you know, very much
- 1:25:43ending a movie vibes here. Millie's in the back of a NAMI.
- 1:25:47That's with Booker. And during what has got to be a
- 1:25:50reshoot, because Booker's hair is different totally.
- 1:25:52Different. Yeah, this point, yeah, it was
- 1:25:54like his hair is so different from how it was.
- 1:25:56Yeah. But yeah, they have like a like
- 1:26:00a real kiss this time. Well, the first kiss was a real
- 1:26:02kiss. But this time it doesn't.
- 1:26:03Get yeah, it doesn't get interrupted by them being like,
- 1:26:06this is a very absurd kind of situation.
- 1:26:08Yeah. So the Butcher is in the back of
- 1:26:12a separate ambulance, barely alive, and the EMTs are like,
- 1:26:16whatever, fuck him. And then he flatlines.
- 1:26:19Halloween 4 here. Except what really happened was
- 1:26:21he just took off the pulse monitor.
- 1:26:24I'm gonna imagine that he took his thumb and stabbed it through
- 1:26:26one of their heads. Yeah, just I assume that that
- 1:26:29happens. Caused a rack.
- 1:26:31Flipped it upside down. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:26:33Crawled out into a Creek. Yeah, with the whole whole whole
- 1:26:389 yards of it. And then this is the end.
- 1:26:41Like that was talking about where he gets super tense.
- 1:26:43We're back at the house with Millie.
- 1:26:45Yeah. Everything seems Yeah, they're
- 1:26:47wrapping up. Millie's mom says that she needs
- 1:26:48to go to college. She needs to go live her own
- 1:26:51life. They're having a great moment.
- 1:26:54And then she hears the front door open.
- 1:26:57This is really loud. Why this is so loud?
- 1:26:59It's. One of those Hulu commercials.
- 1:27:01Sorry, everybody. I guess I won't cut this because
- 1:27:03you can hear this to this. But yeah, we have our TV on back
- 1:27:06there for the girls. Yeah, yeah, this commercial is
- 1:27:09hella loud. Hulu does that sometimes.
- 1:27:10OK, got it. OK, so yeah, she sees that the
- 1:27:14front door is open and she goes, Shara, you left the front door
- 1:27:17open again. Why is a cop getting the front
- 1:27:19door open all the time? Why?
- 1:27:21Why? Yeah, that's Dewey.
- 1:27:25You know what pair? Do.
- 1:27:26We Yeah. So she closes the door and then
- 1:27:29she's getting kind of suspicious and she's wandering around the
- 1:27:32house, and then, uh oh, the butcher's there.
- 1:27:35Walking right behind her. That's very.
- 1:27:37Creepy. He grabs her and he's ready to
- 1:27:40kill her. Except Shar comes in, she tries
- 1:27:42to shoot him and he's like little girl shouldn't play with
- 1:27:45guns, he's already taken all the bullets out.
- 1:27:47Mom comes in, attacks him while Shar reloads her gun and he's
- 1:27:52like, I know your body, I know why you feel so weak and so
- 1:27:55pathetic. Most of the time she goes, well,
- 1:27:57guess I I know your body too. And then she kicks him in the
- 1:27:59nuts, which is not. A.
- 1:28:01Not a unique thing. No, but you know what?
- 1:28:04It it was effective because it distracted him just enough for
- 1:28:08them all to kind of like pile on, fight him, and then
- 1:28:10eventually Millie takes a broken chair leg and stabs him through
- 1:28:14the torso with it. Like, oh, the mom's like Millie.
- 1:28:18Jesus Christ, Millie. And yeah, that's it.
- 1:28:24That's the end of the movie. This seems like the type of
- 1:28:27movie that would have had a mid credits scene but it didn't it.
- 1:28:29Didn't yeah, I was really expecting one.
- 1:28:31Like I feel like they this is the type of movie that I could
- 1:28:34also feel like having a sequel. Like, I don't know if you would
- 1:28:38want to do. Well, I guess we'll talk about
- 1:28:40it here with our dream sequel here.
- 1:28:41It's coming up. But OK, so ratings you keep in
- 1:28:46yours, you changing it. I actually think I'm going to
- 1:28:48change it to 8 1/2. OK.
- 1:28:51I really like this movie. And it's I'm keep in mind, I
- 1:28:57like it. I did feel really good talking
- 1:28:59about it though. I guess maybe fuck it, I'll do
- 1:29:01it. I'll bump it to an 8 because
- 1:29:04it's a fun movie. I like it.
- 1:29:06All right, so new new average is 8.25.
- 1:29:10All right, cool. So Talia, she was really playful
- 1:29:15when the movie first started, and then she was really loving
- 1:29:17on you all. She was licking your arm a lot.
- 1:29:19She had to go out at 29 minutes. She take a quick break.
- 1:29:22She was. She whacked my notes with her
- 1:29:26tail twice, one time while farting.
- 1:29:28It was probably one of the worst farts I'd smelled from her in a
- 1:29:31while. She was scared by the movie and
- 1:29:32she was like, this movie is so good.
- 1:29:34You need to stop writing notes and just pay attention.
- 1:29:36You need to just experience the movie.
- 1:29:38So I think Talia actually, she's going to give this A9.
- 1:29:41Yeah, I mean, she laughed at the dog house.
- 1:29:44Yeah, She was like, that's silly.
- 1:29:45She was like, Scout might fit in there.
- 1:29:47Yeah. Maybe.
- 1:29:49Zoe was fighting herself throughout this movie, so I
- 1:29:52think Zoe, Zoe's ultimate warrior, is the butcher in
- 1:29:56Millie's body. 'Cause he's fighting himself.
- 1:29:59Yeah, kind of. Yeah, you're right.
- 1:30:01Wow, that's so perfect. Yeah.
- 1:30:05OK. Who did you relate to?
- 1:30:10I relate to Booker because I too set my watch as fast and I I
- 1:30:16also don't care about the body that the people I love are in.
- 1:30:19So OK, I relate to hear me out the teacher because I'm
- 1:30:26constantly shitting at like kids names these days too, because
- 1:30:30I'm like that's a fucking stupid name.
- 1:30:32Like it just there's so many weird names like people.
- 1:30:36I feel like our generation and this, I'm not even blaming
- 1:30:39younger generations for this, like we're responsible for as
- 1:30:41millennials, as parents. You're like, hey, subreddit
- 1:30:44about it is there? Yeah.
- 1:30:46Tragedy. It's spelled TRAGEIGHDEIGH.
- 1:30:51I just like, I don't understand why we as a generation are like,
- 1:30:54yeah, let's like go weird with their names this time around.
- 1:30:57Like we're all tired and sick of Jake and Frank and Susan.
- 1:31:02That's why souvenir shops don't have personalized name shit
- 1:31:05anymore because we as a society we're so embittered by like I
- 1:31:10was children that we decided to take it out on our children even
- 1:31:13more and and the personalized souvenir industry.
- 1:31:16Like, yeah, like I have a normal assume and I never got one of
- 1:31:19those. You're never going.
- 1:31:20To see I was only ever able to get Jessica and I don't go by
- 1:31:23Jessica. I haven't gone by Jessica since
- 1:31:25I was old enough to respond to names.
- 1:31:27You'd be surprised. Not a lot of Travis shit out
- 1:31:30there either. That's weird.
- 1:31:31Yeah, there's not that many, Travis.
- 1:31:35But there's enough. There's there should be.
- 1:31:36You would think so. There's not OK now.
- 1:31:40Dream sequel. So do we?
- 1:31:43Do we stick? Do we mix different movies
- 1:31:46again? Hear me out.
- 1:31:49Crossover Freaky 2. Happy Death day three.
- 1:31:53Oh wow. Wouldn't you want to see Jessica
- 1:31:55Roth and Catherine Newton and O maybe together and deal with
- 1:31:59their like, interdimensional travel bullshit together?
- 1:32:02They'd have good chemistry, Yes, I would imagine so, yeah, I feel
- 1:32:06like that would be really good. And then you also have Matt.
- 1:32:09Christopher Landon is tied into both of those, so it'd be easy
- 1:32:12enough to just merge them. Yeah, yeah, pretty much, yeah.
- 1:32:17And then that's also a good way to bring Vince Vaughn back
- 1:32:19because, you know, we've got the like time loop stuff.
- 1:32:22That's his name. For some reason I called him
- 1:32:24Matt. I I thought you were trying to
- 1:32:26say Michael Kennedy. No, no.
- 1:32:28I'm trying to say Vince Vaughn, you can have him back in it and
- 1:32:31if you bring him in, I think that would be cool.
- 1:32:33You're probably thinking of my Uncle Matt, who's, like, as tall
- 1:32:36as Vince Vaughn. Large man.
- 1:32:40Yeah. Yeah, like, I think that would
- 1:32:44be cool. Maybe have like, like have the
- 1:32:49revealed be that he was the babyface killer the entire time
- 1:32:53because, like, do we ever really find out?
- 1:32:55I mean, we kind of do, but like. John Rob Mello.
- 1:33:00He is a killer in several. Like he is a killer in all of
- 1:33:04the timelines, but I think he's the babyface and a couple of
- 1:33:06them. He's the killer, He's a killer,
- 1:33:09but I don't think he puts that on and then like I think.
- 1:33:12I also imagine we get to see Vince Vaughn and Rob Mello.
- 1:33:15Maybe they like have a moment where they could cheek each
- 1:33:18other's murder style. I think we can have a lot of fun
- 1:33:22with this. Well, I would like that because
- 1:33:23it would also give Rob Mello some speaking roles.
- 1:33:26Yeah. And like, we met him.
- 1:33:28He's a really cool dude. He's really cool and he's really
- 1:33:31fucking funny too. Yeah, he is I.
- 1:33:32Would love to say Michael Land, Michael Kennedy, Christopher
- 1:33:38Landon. If you need help make an
- 1:33:40outline, reach out to us. Yeah.
- 1:33:45Fuck, what's that movie called again?
- 1:33:47Which one? The one that we're talking.
- 1:33:48About Happy Death Day. Yeah, OK, you can call it Freaky
- 1:33:51Death Day. I like that.
- 1:33:55I like that. OK cool, that's a good dream
- 1:33:58sequel. New tag line.
- 1:34:01OK, so I wasn't a huge fan of the tag lines.
- 1:34:05They were OK. They were OK.
- 1:34:07Yeah, they. Were like mid tier.
- 1:34:09Yeah, there's just. Let's see.
- 1:34:14Bait and switch. Oh, that's really good.
- 1:34:18I like that. Yeah.
- 1:34:20Bait and switch. Good job.
- 1:34:23That was the like one of the least amount of times we've had
- 1:34:25to think about a tagline. Yeah, I know.
- 1:34:27I'm barely going to have to cut anything for that.
- 1:34:29That's great. Amazing.
- 1:34:30I cut so much time last week. Like it just it.
- 1:34:33It's been several scrolls over. It's the end of it.
- 1:34:37We've we. Yeah, Sometimes it comes,
- 1:34:39sometimes it doesn't. That's the way she goes.
- 1:34:42OK, OK, time for the Internet review.
- 1:34:44OK, what you got? So this one, it's not the most
- 1:34:50serious review, but I think you'll understand why I picked
- 1:34:52it. OK.
- 1:34:54I found this is such a I found this movie in the comedy section
- 1:35:03on an Amazon platform and found out I was watching a slasher
- 1:35:05film, not knowing it. All kinds of blood and gore
- 1:35:08sprung on the viewer who thinks it's a comedy because somebody
- 1:35:11labeled it that way, perhaps at the production company or movie
- 1:35:13studio. Whoever did it is a deceitful
- 1:35:15son of a bitch. You weren't.
- 1:35:17If you want to watch this movie, that is not anything less than a
- 1:35:20gruesome and heinous display of violence and disgusting imagery
- 1:35:23that will not nourish your soul or make you a better person in
- 1:35:27any way. It's sick and twisted trash that
- 1:35:29should not be entertained by any healthy person.
- 1:35:31Good Ward. Wait, so they just went in
- 1:35:34expecting like a comedy? Yes, 'cause it was labeled
- 1:35:37comedy. But my thing is, my dude, my
- 1:35:40sibling in Christ, you watch the whole movie even though there
- 1:35:44was like a wine bottle to the throat in the 1st 2 minutes.
- 1:35:49That's what I'm saying. Like it gets really upfront
- 1:35:52about what it is right there. Yeah, 'cause it mixes the comedy
- 1:35:56and the humor upfront. That, and I mean the horror
- 1:36:00upfront, and the horror goes hard.
- 1:36:02This is very much like Pam not understanding 28 Days Later
- 1:36:06wasn't 28 Days and she just kept watching it thinking Sandra
- 1:36:09Bullock would pop up at some point.
- 1:36:10It's. The same thing with Dwyer.
- 1:36:12It's like, that's the thing about bear attacks, it always
- 1:36:14happened when you least expect. It Yep, Yep, exactly.
- 1:36:17Yeah. I just, I wish I'd been with
- 1:36:21this person watching this movie and they're like, when is why
- 1:36:25are there so many deaths in my comedy?
- 1:36:27I want to see their face like they're just like so confused
- 1:36:30like are trying to like figure out what the fuck is happening.
- 1:36:32Here, Like I understand Vince Vaughn is a comedian, but why is
- 1:36:35he killing all of these people, Vince?
- 1:36:37It's not cool, bro. You don't have to do this.
- 1:36:42Yeah, that's so weird. Yeah, but that's kind.
- 1:36:44Of So yeah, I guess if you just want straight up comedy, this
- 1:36:47movie is not for you. Same as if you want straight up
- 1:36:49or you have to want both for this movie.
- 1:36:52And like, I realized, like, horror comedies are kind of
- 1:36:56divisive amongst the horror community.
- 1:36:59So yeah. All right.
- 1:37:01Well, then I will Mosey on over to our listener reviews.
- 1:37:06OK, so we'll start off on Twitter.
- 1:37:11First up, Lord Zombie, who says saw this in theaters.
- 1:37:16Great take on the body swap with a horror humor vibe.
- 1:37:18Crazy kills. Fun.
- 1:37:20Look into the killer's hideout. Lots of camp.
- 1:37:23The only odd thing was the two characters changing their bodies
- 1:37:26and getting used to them so fast.
- 1:37:28Great movie overall. Yeah, there is like a small
- 1:37:32adjustment period with that. I think it was easier for Millie
- 1:37:36like well actually honestly though, I don't think they got
- 1:37:39adjusted that quickly because Millie kept over doing things
- 1:37:44like and accidentally hurting people and oh that's true.
- 1:37:47Butcher kept like. Over anticipating.
- 1:37:50Yeah, like not being able to knock down doors and stuff.
- 1:37:53I think the main things were, like you said, the butcher just
- 1:37:59being able to do like a perfect messy ponytail and cat eyeliner.
- 1:38:03Yeah, that was the thing that really, it was like, really
- 1:38:06like, come on. And.
- 1:38:07Meanwhile we have Millie going like, am I supposed to wipe when
- 1:38:10she's starting? Yeah, and the killer side, I
- 1:38:18think it would have been cool to like explore that a little bit
- 1:38:20more. I mean, we kind of do with the
- 1:38:21party, but you don't really get. Yeah, it kind of reminded me of
- 1:38:25again, Scream 4 with the stabathon where they go to the
- 1:38:29barn for that. But yeah, no, I agree, good
- 1:38:32movie. It's a good mixture of fun
- 1:38:34times. Geo Freak of Tron.
- 1:38:36As is his name. Says the opening scene sets a
- 1:38:39badass tone for a great movie. Give many more Christopher
- 1:38:44Landon smash Michael Kennedy films please.
- 1:38:47Yes, I I would watch. They're like a team that like,
- 1:38:51I'm going to give any movie they do together a chance.
- 1:38:53Yeah, I'm bummed that we didn't get the screen movie.
- 1:38:55It sucks for them because I don't know, they were both
- 1:38:57really excited and that's like a big move for them.
- 1:39:00But yeah, hopefully they do something cool together in the
- 1:39:05future. We actually watched It's a
- 1:39:08Wonderful Knife with Joe, too. Yeah.
- 1:39:10Yeah, Yeah, that's true. All right over on Instagram, our
- 1:39:17Instagram review is from Cube Saves, who says the slasher
- 1:39:20parts are fun comedy slash Freaky Friday parts are not.
- 1:39:24I get it. Like the comedy has to land for
- 1:39:26you. Yeah, I guess it's my sense of
- 1:39:29humor and I guess I can see how it's not everybody's sense of
- 1:39:32humor. So it's.
- 1:39:33It wasn't my first time around, yeah.
- 1:39:34I didn't really laugh at that much.
- 1:39:36But this time around, I don't know, like for some reason, like
- 1:39:38it just kind of like there are certain parts that really quick
- 1:39:40for me, especially the scene where it's like you guys are
- 1:39:44just beating the shit out. You guys are just like beating
- 1:39:46the shit out of me, yeah. That was really funny.
- 1:39:49Yeah. OK, cool.
- 1:39:52So yeah, like, I guess it's a horror comedy.
- 1:39:55Yeah. You know you got to do both Well
- 1:39:57or you. Know it's heavy on both of them.
- 1:39:59Yeah, for sure. All right, that's it for this
- 1:40:03week's episode then. Next week, so we will do our saw
- 1:40:06wrap up over the weekend where we do our final rankings and
- 1:40:10then we are starting our new franchise.
- 1:40:11We're going to be kicking it off with Child's Play 1988.

- 1:40:37Good. OK.
- 1:40:40Well, so I mean, I'm sure most of you guys have seen that movie
- 1:40:44at this point, yes. But if not, or if you just need
- 1:40:47a refresher before the episode, you know it's always a good
- 1:40:51excuse to watch that movie. It's a great.
- 1:40:52Movie Yeah, it's a good time to watch it all the time Yeah, I am
- 1:40:58God, I'm just. I'm excited.
- 1:41:01Pleased as hell to go through this franchise.
- 1:41:03Yeah, we've known we were gonna do this since we recorded the
- 1:41:06first Saw movie almost a year ago.
- 1:41:08We're like the next one's child's play, right?
- 1:41:10Yep. Absolutely, yeah.
- 1:41:12If you're wondering, we do already know the next franchise,
- 1:41:14too. Not going to tell you you're
- 1:41:15going to have to wait, but we already know what the next
- 1:41:17franchise will be once we get through.

- 1:41:21probably get like a little preview because we tend to do

- 1:42:23listening or maybe watching movies that we are like serving
- 1:42:26up on our line up here. Shout out to our friend Chad who
- 1:42:29said anybody who doesn't like the Society episode is an idiot.

- 1:44:15And. We'll see you.
- 1:44:16All saw wrap up. Yeah, yeah, yay.

- 1:44:21for funsies. Yeah, maybe by then when we do
- 1:44:24the wrap up, we'll have some more.
- 1:44:26Yep. Yeah.
- 1:44:26All right. Cool.
- 1:44:27All right, we'll see. Y'all.
- 1:44:28Bye. Bye.
- 1:44:40It's like God test, test, test my voice.
- 1:44:49Hey, hey. We got our pooper right off the
- 1:44:51bat. That was that came out feeling
- 1:44:54real bad. That sounded great.
- 1:44:57OK.
