- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: we think purpose is just going to find us and we're going to be like oh my god that's what I'm here for that's the thing right and instead what clearly seems actionable is purpose is something that we are out there doing and whether or not we chose to do it we're still out there doing it
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the be it till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also Logan, Ply's instructor and fitness business coach.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: My friends, action brings clarity.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: Each week my guess will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it until you see it.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to the Beatelier seat in every recap of my co-hosts and my Brad and I are going to dig into the purposeful combo.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: I have with Adrian Sarks in our last episode.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what?
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what we said the first time he was on because his podcast is all about being purposeful.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: So if you haven't yet listened to that interview, you can pause this and go listen to that one.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: What does he look?
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: 190 something?
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was like 151, Brad's gonna look it up and just send it up.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: And you can then come back and listen this one.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: Or you can listen to this one because we talked about a bunch of stuff and then our favorite things and you can go listen to the amazing one because you have all the choice in this world.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: You get to do what you want to do.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: And we got to meet a bunch of you amazing podcast listeners when we were in Arizona the other day.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was 1951.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: 1951.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I can't believe.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, nailed it.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: You must have cheated.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: You must have cheated, isn't it?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: I heard it in the, you heard in the episode, because I went back and listened to it.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I love you, but there's no way.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: You came up with that on your own.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, we met a bunch of listeners at our, the POT Arizona last month.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I love that you love the pod.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: And also, I heard that people are loving the pillow episodes.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: And so if that's the case, please leave a review and tell me.
- 2:22[UNKNOWN]: to talk about.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Also, another way you can support this show.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: I used to become an OPC member because when you're an OPC member, at money also supports this podcast, it's just be honest.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: So the best thing you can do is to go be a member of OPC.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: One, you actually get extra stuff out of it.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: If you like these little pep talks that I do on the podcast that are so low, at the end of every one of my classes, I give you a little pep talk.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a mantra, but it's an enclosed.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: So you can go to opc.me-slash-4-0.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: And then you can join opc for 40 days, or $40.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then you can see how great we are.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, today is June 25th, 2026.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's Bourdain Day.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's Bourdain Day.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: And this is a quote from Mr. Anthony Bourdain.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm an advocate for anything, it's to move.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: As far as you can, as much as you can, across the ocean, or simply across the river, walk in someone else's shoes, or at least eat their food.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's a plus for everybody.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: Anthony Bourdain backed up his words with action, all the while Arjuna's to do a lot more than simply try new foods and exotic places, but with fascinating strangers, he desperately wanted to separate get up our comforts on and see the world in person to the eyes of people who would never otherwise meet.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: Watch his TV shows, first no reservations, and then parts unknown.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: enabled us to spend time with the real-life explorer who tried around the world in search of well, the things that make us all human.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Food, yes, but also love beard and passion.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Gordon, who suffered from depression took his own life in 2018 at the age of 61.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: Anthony of my best friend tweeted French chef and close friend Eric Ripper at the time.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: Exceptial human being so inspired and generous, Rippered along with another long time friend Jose Andres, just some amazing work of this world, declared June 25th
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: So, if you are, you know, suicide or worried about a friend or in need of emotional support, the lifeline network is available 247 across US call 800-273-8255.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's also a short number.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like there's a short number that you can call, but we had a dear friend.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: You can call 998 in the United States.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, 998.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: Who worked with a suicide prevention network in Nevada?
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's really hard right now.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's harder than people think, you know, you look at people and they seem to have it all together.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: And they don't.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people are tired.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people have gone on.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: So we took to a friend even heard from her talk to her in a while.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: You just never know.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: We might help them out.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: but also make sure you have these numbers because, you know, there's people who are experts who can also support.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: Upcoming travel, Brad Pittick, that's because, let's go ahead, Brad.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Anthony Bourdain was very inspirational for me.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: He was living the travel bug that I always had.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: And when I was in college, my friend and I used to watch his show every single week, no reservations.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I just loved that he was so angry at his producers in that show and he would get so pissed about cursing and smoking cigarettes live on TV, like I said, it wasn't live, but on TV.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then they could just edit it out.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: They could have added it out.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: He did some amazing stuff too.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: He was in Beirut when the war broke out again.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yes, yes.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: And then also, don't forget his wonderful documentary about food waste.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, food waste.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: And if you haven't seen it, you must see it.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's called waste.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's called waste.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: We actually watched in the next day, he died by suicide.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: That was really tragic.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: And that documentary like stuck with me, you know?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's really, really important because there's, it's like we all need to be aware.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: And like in some countries are doing a much better job about food waste than we are.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: Go Japan, do you recall that from the documentary?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, for me, it was amazing because I never was a chef, but he worked in the food industry, I worked in the food industry, and I got his book kitchen confidential when I was like, you know, in my early 20s, and I just, you know, thought he was, was amazing.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: So yep, in honor of Anthony Bourdain, and as Leslie was mentioning, if you or anyone you know is suffering with suicidal thoughts, there is support out there for you.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: In other news, there is no spots left in elevate every single week in the last few weeks that you've heard that their spots was a lie.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: They are sold out.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: But we if for 2027 anyways, we are already taking applications for 2028.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be able to let you snag your spot and reserve it and all that stuff.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to have a wonderful Q&A call this summer on July 9th.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it's at one PM Pacific time and you can go to lessilogand.co-elevate to get on the weight list.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: We'll have that call information.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: You can register for the call.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I should do xxll.co slash weight list actually.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, my producer is doing this in real time, everyone.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: But anyways, so anyways, what I want you to do is get on weight list because I do update you monthly on when we have dates and we're accepting applications when you can wait your positive.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I know the 28th will fill up as soon as we open up those applications, but that means you have a whole year, plus to protect those dates like your life once I figure what they are.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: So summer tour is coming, but the tickets are available.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: they've been available for a few weeks actually a month ago to be precise and many cities are sold out and you're like, Leslie, now that I know you record this in the past, the future, how do you know?
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Because I do, because when we were in Arizona, we actually met many people who were like, oh, I'm going to end it at Tucson and I was like, okay, we're probably out of spots in Tucson, but at it, so I know that's many spots are sold out.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: So you want to go to OPC to me, such tour?
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: Our tours are sponsored by the wonderful Balanced Body and Contrology company Balanced Body Celebrating 50 years.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: This is a really big year for that.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of amazing what they're doing and it's really special.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I want you to make sure that you join us because Balanced Body allows us to get our tours to go for more than six places and to do it with a lot of final bringing, we're being in Contrology products into the studio so you can try them out.

- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Did you know that?
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: We do.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to be a plasma instructor to love them.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: They're actually really wonderful for helping you have access to great Pilates where you are and they're they're so great in fact that people still my images all the fucking time to put them in their shitty books.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: But you can get the real thing with the best information that has been edited at many times and has a quality videos at
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: You follow on my Instagram.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the ones that's been going on and just as we about to hit record, I found out another blocking person is stealing my images from my flash cards.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, three more people, four or three more people.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a thing.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, you should know what you're saying.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's like,
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: They thought someone wouldn't find out.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, maybe they just don't care.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they don't care or they're like, oh, she only has like 30,000 followers.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: So how it like no one will know.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: But my followers know me.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: And even people who won't follow me, they're telling me.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: Because I am recognizable.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: And anyway, but you can get my flashcards.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: The real deal is for a small business who is going to take on some of these big ass companies, because there is a company that is a big name that we're about to take down.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I'm excited about it, but before we get into it, we used to do audience questions here if you're new.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know that, so this is not a new thing for you.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're old and you're like, oh, I just popped in here on this one.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: We don't do that anymore.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: We answer questions Sunday on YouTube at 9 a.m. Pacific Time Life.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that is where I answer them.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're a member, I answer questions wherever you are a member.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: So as long as it's part of your membership, right?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: If you're an agency member, you know, business questions there, if you are an OPC member, I answer personal polite questions there, like answer all those plusers do YouTube and YouTube is free.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: We both don't know that, but it is.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's free.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: You have to watch according to one comment, a diabolical amount of commercials, but it's free.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, yes, diabolical.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: I, Balakal, was the word that was used.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: However, what we decided to change this to is many of you want to help out people in your life but often don't know how to help people.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: And there are so many different shit storms in the world like which firestorm do you help with and the reality is is that you can help either by just share the friend who needs to hear that this charity exists for them or you can share with your time or you can share it on your platform or you have a money even $2 so because June is pride month we are going to wrap up the month theme with another
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: wonderful LGBTQ plus charity.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: This is the prison foundation.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: And it was founded in 2021.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: The prison foundation was started to organize an ex the cute initiatives for the LGBTQ plus community in the state of Arkansas using a multifaceted approach to achieve the following outcomes.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: Increase access to affirmative and comprehensive health care, align resources that address barriers to care and health disparities among the community, and create safe spaces for both virtual and physical activities and services that serve LGBTQ plus our cans.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Correct me if we're wrong here, but I think it's our cansons.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: What is also exciting because I was doing some research on them.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: They are also really aware of what is happening in the states that are surrounding them, that are affecting trans people.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so part of their vision is we are increasing access to health care.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: As top of our prior is we're also focusing creating pathways to fulfill our basic needs, including overcoming barriers to legal aid services and developing supportive community spaces physically and virtually.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I think this is really important because
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, and at the time of this recording, there have been some awful things that have been said about trans people from the government that we are under in this country.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I won't even repeat his words because they are too horrible to repeat that he said this week, but we need to be protecting our people who are different than us.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because the fucking people who are taking from you are billionaires.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: So support, support, the LGBTQ plus people in your area because one, they are beautiful human beings and two, they are always there supporting.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's true, they are.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: This is a very much of an activism mentality in that community.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, really like.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: I also like my goodness, they have to be tired.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm sure they are.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, but I really like what that person community is doing.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: I, I, I, I, Prism.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: Prism, yeah, I. Yeah, the, the organization is doing it.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think we have to, I mean, it has to be hard to do what they do in the areas that they're doing it.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: And so if you want to support, there you go.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: And if you, yeah, you can go to their website at ARPRISMFoundation.org.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: ARPRISMFoundation.org to read more about what they are doing and how you can support them.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: And if that is not the area because you're like, I'm on our cans and I'm not in the middle West, then look of ones in your area that are doing something locally for you because there are always a local outlet of something like we've talked about before on this podcast.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: We love supporting our restaurant because
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: bronze cafe everyone who's local to Las Vegas who listens to this show when you buy meals from them they support the LGBTQ mental health community center here.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, if you have an organization that is doing good things that we should find out about and you want to be featured on the pod, call us and leave us a voicemail.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: Then it's your favorite charity.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: at 3109055534 and tell us why they're amazing.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: You can also submit wins, by the way, at bitpod.com slash questions.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: Bitpod.com slash questions so that we can get you in on the
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Friday episode all the time.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Brad, I have had people tell me that they heard their win months after they submitted it and it really made their day because we're having a rough day.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I tell people this also just so you know, we've changed the Friday FYF, I bitch about something and then you're going to come, but we haven't had a chance for you to bitch about something.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so I've, I have, I do it.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: I need a moment.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: which is what we do at our other communities and then I celebrate a win and then I share their wins and then I do a mantra.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: So we had a change to it because it's quite nice and maybe maybe what my new new to moment is that all the people use my fucking image.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll save that for Friday's episode.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: The current will be right back.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, now let's talk about Mr. Adrian Stark's Adrian is a professional speaker, voice narrator and host of the your purposeful life podcast, who openly embraces his authentic, unpolished self, including his fun side as a comic card and superhero fanatic.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: Having shed the rigid suit and tie expectations of his early career, Adrian is deeply protected of the energy he puts into the world.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: intentionally choosing to step away from the microphone rather than record an episode if you have it a bad day, right?
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: So good vibes, right?
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: As a fellow human seeking purpose, he helps his audience navigate what he identifies as the three continuous cycles of purposeful living and encourages people to make a mess, figure out what works, and ultimately have fun with their journey.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we love mess over here.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: We love messy action.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: We're so big on that.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: I also love, I mean, we had a great
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: One of the things we talked about is he said when we try to make things perfect when they're not meant to be, well, nothing's supposed to be, there's going to be major resistance because everything has to flow a certain way.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: And he used the metaphor of like salmon noting their journey upstream against the flow of the river is what ultimately exhaust them and I think that's so true.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think we try to get things to be so perfect just like, you know, that we I make it to precious and you kind of like hold on to it to tight and so then you aren't able to hear amazing things or be curious to go a different direction.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, so I love it.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's just talking about the idea.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: of like the more effort you put in a controlling something, the more it slips through your fingers.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I mean, I totally get that.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: Here's how I equate this.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be an amazing parallel for all you ultimate Frisbee players out there.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: of which I know I'm speaking to the right audience obviously.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure we have a good two clearly clearly the right audience.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: I grew up playing very, very competitively, playing ultimate Frisbee and whenever you were going to throw the Frisbee all the way down the field, the disk as it were.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: If you put all of your might into that throw that hook as it were as what we would call it.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: inevitably you would mess it up and it would curve to the right or go out of bounds or whatever.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: But if you took us like a half a second before that like huge throw and you just
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: eased and paused when you threw you like pause and then just like let it happen.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: It would go where you wanted it to every time and it was like it took a long time and and I could always tell as soon as I released the the desk like oh man I did not do that right and and I feel like like life is like that too when you are forcing it things do not go the way that you want them to when you go with the flow you know while you're directing it
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: then things seem to happen a lot more organically.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, usually all the things, right?
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like a tough balance, right?
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because like, you still have to direct it.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, because you don't want to just be like, you know, blowing with the wind, but you also need to feel the flow, right?
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there are some obstacles that tell us like not that door.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right, that doesn't, it's not stop sign.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like a door way, like, no, not that door.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: And, and I think it's like really understanding, you know, why are you doing this?
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: Why are you doing any of this?
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you can keep your Y in mind, it can keep the perfection from taking over because perfection will honestly end up making something so clean and perfect.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: No one's a touch it and do it.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: Or they don't really know what it is.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: And it's exhausting.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's exhausting, it's a perfect eye.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, there's just like certain people in my life whenever I see them.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: How long does it take them to get out the door?
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: Because we just saw someone this past weekend at an event, and every time I see her, I'm like, she's so perfectly like, co-oft.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: It must take forever to get out the door.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: Because there's not a hair emiss.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: There's like the outfit is part, the nails match the shoes, I mean, like all of that.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like,
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: I know how long it takes to get my nails done.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: So they're just going to be what they are for four weeks because, you know, so I don't know.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying that if you want to be my friend, don't be perfect.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, the last thing I want to say is he explained that we go against the grain of what our purposes are.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: It creates major resistance that makes us feel like we're not worthy.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: So fellow, my people who fill imposter syndrome, it's because you're going against the grain of your purpose.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: If we're truly good at it,
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: Where we are while we always can improve.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: We don't need to be perfect.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: So like there is this like thing like there's an improved thing Improving we we are always this is something happens with pull eyes the structures that I mean you always are gonna be learning There's never a point that you're not learning But there's a difference between chasing down every single person to go through their version of a program with
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: and also just like learning from the body in front of you today.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like every time I teach a new person, a new client, I learn a new way of explaining something or today we're doing LBC Spring Training and this wonderful person.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's a great question.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, you know what?
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: I've explained this before, but never to a person with that.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: brand of equipment with that years of experience, with that understanding of the exercise.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm even, I, and then learning as something I already know in a different way so I can explain it.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, there's ways to learn and improve yourself without having to constantly feel like, notice I have for this next thing, you know?
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: stay tuned because how do we know what our purpose is, you know, how do we even know if we're going against the grain, stick around because we're going to talk about that in the be it action items, but what I really wanted to talk about myself was grief, which is interesting because I was it was interesting topic that y'all skipped over to.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: You were talking about grieving
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: not just like a person who you know might no longer be with us or obviously a pet or any of that, but even an experience that was supposed to happen, but it didn't, you know, and you were very excited about it, or you had a lot of effort and planning into it.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we know we've been talking about opening a studio for a really long time.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: And we spent a lot of money, our site, we spent a lot of time at the beginning of the year, and I'll ask you a beginning of the year, like really thinking planning, I mean, I can't even tell you how many phone calls I made to the city, and like I spent hours putting together a business plan for this.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: three months in we decided to pause the whole thing because we realized that we were pretty much forcing it and you know because there was one key thing that was holding a sap that was like wait a minute how are we gonna sell this problem then it was kind of like one of those well we're we're gonna
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: We could we'll make it work.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: We'll figure it out.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to, you know, and all of a sudden it was like, what do we need to do that?
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: We don't even need to do the studio.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's just going to cause a lot of stress.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: And what we could be doing right now is opening a major problem for ourselves.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: So what we decided to do instead was solve the problem that we would be opening for ourselves first.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: But that's gonna take time, right?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: So even though we spent this time putting this whole plan together and decided to hit pause, it's interesting because, okay, there's an actually another path that is gonna set us up for success in the future.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: When we do bring that studio back around, however, it doesn't mean that you don't,
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: Feel bummed about.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: I drive by the location that we picked out that I've talked with the landlord and the neighbors and the city about and a contractor about and I envisioned the sign.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean a hundred times I still don't think it's not going to be in that center.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_00]: I just think it's not that unit.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's just that unit needed way too much money.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not the rent, but the build out was like, like jaw dropping, like, like, it honestly made the grief a little bit easier.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not gonna lie because it was it.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: It was such a fuck no.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like it was just like no fucking way.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: And so I am, I do understand there's grief because of that's not happening today.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: And so we still drive by it every single time.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_00]: But I also like,
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is where good reflection comes from, too, is like, in reflecting, it's all out of our control.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: The parts that are the obstacles.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: And so I go to bed knowing we did the best we could with what we had in the moment and how do we not had this other stupid bill come through that we're like, that's a fuck no.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like we probably would have forced the salmon up the stream a little bit.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think so.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we made it work, but it would have been a hard stress and more complicated than it should be.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I do think like there is a weight.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: You have to grieve changes.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: We have elevate members who are like, I'm grieving.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: The teacher I used to be is like, they used to just like,
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: narrate a Pilates class for lack of a like a simple thing and it's like, well, no, now you get to watch it and you get to see what it is.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: And part of you is excited.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: Because you know, matter now and you have these more potential possibilities now, but also there's a time that it felt easier writing you're a different person.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: So when you're in this unknown space and so like I'm excited from my open that studio.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: I've I'm past the grief thing, but also like sometimes I look back at that studio.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: It would have been really great if it was it's a Pilates on it already.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, that's the thing, you know, you were talking about how grief doesn't really go away, you know, because you had you had built a until pattern around a person or a thing or an experience that was supposed to happen, you had built that into your thought thinking and and what ends up happening over time is we we.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: Think that way a little bit less.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't mean we don't think about the thing, but the way the expectations that we had Alter they should right and so you know, and what Adrian was talking about was someone I think he was talking about some of who died if I recall and you know He said
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes he just needs to embrace one that emotion comes up.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: Embraces it, he leans into it, he's like, it's okay for me to feel this right now.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: And he encourages letting that emotion flow for, you know, for multiple reasons, it's a testament to how someone or something impacted you, you know, but also it's, it's really important, you know, to feel those emotions.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's hard.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, there's certain, you know, it's really interesting.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's certain people places or things that you grieve in different ways.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: Our L.A. studio.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't ever look back and like have tears.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm proud of that studio because it was the right thing to do to make the change.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I do miss having that cute little space.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I missed it.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think back of it fondly, like not tears, like, oh, I don't have that place anymore, but like, what a fun, two years I had in that space.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: It was such a, like a tree house, you know?
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: So it doesn't, a grief, it's not always have to be, like devastating either.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: But you have to feel it.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: We have some great grief podcasts, by the way, haven't had any recently, but the do that we had were so good.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: Kim Scott and another woman I want to say, Kara, but I don't think that's what it was.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: She's like coach something and they're both on grief.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: Kim Scott has a wonderful book on 100x of love and her.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: Her episode about her husband and that grief was so interesting in what she has done, and she was so raw and wonderful and thoughtful, and then there was a woman but was before her.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: in the episodes and I'm just talking like as if it's going to come back to me, she actually unfortunately watched her husband die and then she went through all this grief and she was like, how come this is happening and why am I over it and she literally became a grief coach.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: I want to say it's Kara, but it's not.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: I have no idea.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, our wonderful producers will figure out it.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure, but you can just go into our catalog.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's definitely in the first 200 episode.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: Good luck.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, here's the thing.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_00]: If you can find Kim Scott, it's within two months of Kim Scott that I remember.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_00]: So, okay, we're gonna get into our beat axioms and I can see Brad is going to Google that.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one was Chris the Saint Germain.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's the one.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: And the other was him, Hammer.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: Kim Scott, Chris, I got the S for the wrong name, I think, but anyways, Kim Hammer, so sorry, we're play's hammer everywhere I said Scott.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: All right, stick around.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to dig into those B at action items.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, come back.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about those B at action items that we got from Adrian's Starks.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: What bold, executable intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your combo?
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian, it's weird to call him Starks.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: Starks, it sounds like he's like, like Tony.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was thinking like a football player like the way that you know I just want to go Starks redefines the word goal and I've really loved this y'all.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: He was actually he's so full of like these Quippy things that are so applicable and this one really blew my mind.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: He said oh, I love a goal
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: He said, but I redefined it with the acronym of get out and live, get out and live.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, wow, that's, that's really great.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: He views goals not as rigid markers, but as triggers to move outside of one's comfort zone, scare yourself a little bit and then break a rut.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: He suggests regularly asking yourself, what is actually going on here?
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: What am I not happy about?
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: What do I actually want?
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: right?
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: Specifically focusing on immediate desires rather than five-year plans.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: He recommends detoxing from social media for several days at a time to avoid the world of comparisons that definitely leads to self-doubt and imposter syndrome.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: Comparison is the thief of the way.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: comparison is the thief of joy.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: What about you?
- 28:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he said your purpose in life is not something you find.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's something that you do and it's going to change.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to evolve with time and I couldn't agree more like it's so funny.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: Recently, I posted pictures of myself as a brand new flies instructor.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_00]: I like I was actually wrote a whole series called out growing yourself.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: And it's either already come out or it's coming up.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: No idea.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think it already came out already came out I'll go in your old version of yourself, and it's so funny because I don't look back at her going.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, like I mean, oh, but I said oh my god, I look so young
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: You look like a child.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_00]: I look like a child, there's 25, but I think about what her goals as a new teacher were to where I am right now.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I can say, looking back, I never have thought, like, oh, my God, I'm no longer living my purpose because my purpose has evolved as a teacher because I've evolved in the more that I know and then the people that I teach and the things that I'm drawn to.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's things that people like don't you want to do this?
- 29:53[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, no.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's a no.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't and even like right now people like, oh, what about next?
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I think I'm staying home a lot actually a significant amount of time.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm staying home and they're like, oh, really?
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, yeah, because if you do take the time to get to know yourself and you do stay aligned with what you want and you do stay aligned with your purpose.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: your life has to evolve and then because that evolves and your purpose evolves.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_00]: And like it just, you know, my life has to reflect what I'm doing and then what I'm doing, then takes me to my next thing, which means my life has to reflect what I'm doing.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I agree with you on this, but also let's go back to his statement because I think I remember trying to figure out like,
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: what am I going to do with my life or what's my purpose and we all know that it's important to have purpose in our lives.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: But I also think a testament to this is the conversations that I've had recently with my parents who just retired.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and then the interview that we had with the retirement coach who's loved name.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not recalling, but it was in the last 100 episodes.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: It was definitely this at this year.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: But the point is that, you know, we we think purposes just going to find us and we're going to be like, Oh my god, that's what I'm here for.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing, right?
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: And instead, what clearly seems actionable.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: is purpose is something that we are out there doing, and whether or not we chose to do it, we're still out there doing it.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think about my parents with their job, and the thing that was keeping my dad focused on the job was the job.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: And ultimately, if you step back and look at that, it's not necessarily like whatever, I don't even know what the project's worth of he was working on ever.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but the point like I mean, I wasn't intimately involved in the company that he worked for.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't actually understand all the nuance of the things, but he built that purpose over a career of 42 or 43 years.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: And then now all of a sudden, he's like thinking about ending it.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it doesn't matter how mundane the job is, he's, oh, I, what am I going to do with myself after this?
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, you know, and so that's where we, we find ourselves unwilling to make a change as well.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_00]: But then you have that's like, no, I want to argue with you on a little bit.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I have a glad your dog doesn't want his podcast.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like he did with a lot of people his age did, which is like, this is my job.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_00]: And that job became the purpose.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but that's the point of what Adrian said.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think so because I actually, because I think of like, he goes that saying, if you don't have goals, someone will make their goals.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, this is a better, this is a better.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like your purpose can be inadvertent.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you don't take control of your of what you do, then your purpose will be to find for you or it can accidentally become your purpose.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and you if you don't like it, then you're the person why is my purpose just to like do this project for this many years or and really where I think it's important is this is where self reflection is so important because when you self reflect you are aware of when you are out growing something or you are being called into something.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it's, and, and I don't know if I had a conversation with Adrian, but I definitely had a conversation and I wrote a newsletter on it.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_00]: Is that like a lot of people in the plies industry are like, I need to figure out like what my space is in this industry and it's like,
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: Never do that.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: Don't do that because like no one that you admire ever set in was what is my little circle in this industry?
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: No, they went out and carved their path.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: They created their thing.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: They'll be an episode coming out.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: It hasn't already with me on balanced by his podcast where like they're like, you carved out this thing.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_00]: I had to.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: I had to create the thing that I needed.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_00]: That, some of you are already living your purpose, but you actually are looking at other people and going, I need to look like them and you haven't taken the time to reflect back going, actually the thing that I'm doing is the thing that's my purpose and it's helping these people.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_00]: And so now that I'm aware of that, how do I amplify that?
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: And then because you're out there amplifying and doing it, it will evolve because you will continue to hone in and understand and be curious and
- 34:10[SPEAKER_00]: and change things.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: So either it inadvertently finds you and you're doing someone else's purpose and they'll be grateful or you discover what it is.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: But you have to look inside.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: But that's yeah it goes you guys you were both talking about self reflection but it goes back to you know your purpose in life is not something you find it's something that you do.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it is also, it's going to change and evolve over time.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like those movies for the person like goes out and seek of like what their purposes, but really their purpose was there all the time, but they were like, like they weren't taking the time to see that it was there.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_00]: Go stop for a fight.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, anything else, Brad?
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: He said, with purpose, you can navigate and make adjustments, right?
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: And he talked about figuring out what actions match the frequency and energy of where you're at right now.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's true.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that, I mean, we'll just leave that there.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: You go back and listen.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: Go back and listen, because Adrian is great.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's great.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, he does voice acting.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: How cool.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Liz, listen to his voice.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, like he should really write sleepy stories, like those sleep stories.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_00]: I would say every day.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: I also would even listen to him chair bad news.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: But that voice has just like, you know, like the BBC type versus like matter of fact that you know what I mean?
- 35:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think I could be like, okay, well, we're not all gonna die.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_00]: So there we go.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_00]: Adrian, thanks for being you.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks, you guys, I'm Leslie Logan.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm Brad Crowell.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: Share our episodes with a friend who needs to figure out what their purpose is and then leave a review.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then send in your win because you're someone who likes this podcast or someone likes a checklist and I just gave you three things that are easy to do.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: Easy to check up.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to feel super successful in your day.
