Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackie
- 0:03Speaker 1: and it's time right now for today's word. Speak life
- 0:08Speaker 1: over your day. Proverbs 18 20 in the Amplified says
- 0:13Speaker 1: a man's moral self shall be filled with the fruit
- 0:16Speaker 1: of his mouth and with the consequences of his words.
- 0:19Speaker 1: He must be satisfied whether good or evil. Words may
- 0:24Speaker 1: be small, but they carry tremendous power. A few words
- 0:27Speaker 1: can change someone's entire day. They can bring encouragement to
- 0:31Speaker 1: a discouraged heart, confidence to someone who feels insecure, and
- 0:35Speaker 1: hope to someone who's struggling. But words can also wound, discourage, divide,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and destroy. That's why we must be intentional about what
- 0:46Speaker 1: comes out of our mouths. Proverbs 1820 reminds us that
- 0:50Speaker 1: we will eat the fruit of our words. In other words,
- 0:53Speaker 1: what we continually speak can have an impact on the
- 0:57Speaker 1: atmosphere around us, our relationships, and even the way we
- 1:01Speaker 1: approach our own lives. The good news is... that we
- 1:05Speaker 1: get to choose our words. Our words often begin as thoughts.
- 1:10Speaker 1: We think something, we meditate on it, and eventually we
- 1:13Speaker 1: speak it out of our mouths. That means we have
- 1:15Speaker 1: the opportunity to stop negative thoughts before they become negative words.
- 1:20Speaker 1: You may wake up in the morning facing something you
- 1:22Speaker 1: don't want to deal with. You could say, I dread
- 1:25Speaker 1: this day. I already know it's going to be terrible.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Or you could make it a different choice. God is
- 1:31Speaker 1: with me today. He will give me the strength, the
- 1:34Speaker 1: wisdom and the grace that I need to handle whatever
- 1:36Speaker 1: may come my way. See, the circumstances may not immediately change,
- 1:41Speaker 1: but your posture toward it has changed. Instead of speaking defeat,
- 1:46Speaker 1: you speak faith. Instead of speaking fear, you speak confidence
- 1:50Speaker 1: in God. Instead of saying, I can't, you say, I
- 1:53Speaker 1: can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Instead
- 1:57Speaker 1: of saying nothing good ever happens to me, remind yourself
- 2:00Speaker 1: that God is still working even when you can't see
- 2:03Speaker 1: what he's doing. This doesn't mean we should ignore reality
- 2:06Speaker 1: and pretend that different situations don't exist. It means we
- 2:10Speaker 1: refuse to allow circumstances to have the final word. God's
- 2:15Speaker 1: word gets the final word. And don't underestimate the power
- 2:21Speaker 1: of speaking life over other people to tell your children
- 2:24Speaker 1: you believe in them. Encourage your spouse. Remind your friends
- 2:28Speaker 1: that they can make it and that they are needful.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Remind them they're fearfully and wonderfully made in the likeness
- 2:35Speaker 1: and the image of God. Compliment someone who may be
- 2:38Speaker 1: struggling with their confidence. Tell someone I'm praying for you.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Sometimes the words... you casually speak can become the very
- 2:46Speaker 1: encouragement someone needed to keep going. Today, before you speak,
- 2:52Speaker 1: ask yourself, are these words bringing life or death, hope
- 2:57Speaker 1: or hopelessness, healing or hurt? You may not be able
- 3:02Speaker 1: to control everything that happens today, but you can ask
- 3:05Speaker 1: God to help you control what comes out of your mouth.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So speak carefully, speak intentionally, speak faith. Your words have power.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Use them to build. Use them to encourage. Use them
- 3:19Speaker 1: to strengthen and bring glory to God. Oh, Father, thank
- 3:22Speaker 1: you for always being ready to listen when we call
- 3:25Speaker 1: on you. Help us to become more intentional about the
- 3:27Speaker 1: words that we speak. Guard our mouths when we're frustrated, angry,
- 3:31Speaker 1: and disappointed or afraid. Help us to recognize negative thoughts
- 3:35Speaker 1: before they become negative words. Fill our hearts with your
- 3:38Speaker 1: truth so that Our words reflect your love, your wisdom,
- 3:41Speaker 1: your grace, and faithfulness. Teach us to speak life over
- 3:44Speaker 1: ourselves and encourage the people that you've placed in our lives. Oh,
- 3:48Speaker 1: let our words bring strength to the weary, hope to
- 3:50Speaker 1: the discouraged, and joy to those who need it. God,
- 3:54Speaker 1: let everything we say honor you and reflect your heart
- 3:57Speaker 1: in Jesus' name. That's your word for today. Take it,
- 4:00Speaker 1: apply it to your everyday life, and you continue to
- 4:02Speaker 1: be encouraged and inspired. It's your early morning praise party.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I am Sherri Mackey.
