- 2:07Speaker 3: welcome to kind of historic day here in the Palmar
- 2:11Speaker 3: Store studio because this is the last day that will
- 2:13Speaker 3: actually be in this particular studio. Like the Jeffersons, we
- 2:17Speaker 3: are moving on up or in this case down come Monday,
- 2:21Speaker 3: we're going to be in our new temporary home downstairs
- 2:24Speaker 3: here at eleven eleven. It's a temporary home because we're
- 2:26Speaker 3: getting all new digs up here, complete with TV cameras,
- 2:30Speaker 3: lights and more. Chris Lawrence, you're looking forward to this,
- 2:33Speaker 3: aren't you. Man?
- 2:34Speaker 5: Oh yes, I've been in radio thirty five years now,
- 2:38Speaker 5: a little over thirty five years. I have never ever
- 2:42Speaker 5: in my career worked in a brand new studio, So yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 5: Monday will be a milestone event in my career.
- 2:48Speaker 3: And this studio, I mean and I we talked about
- 2:50Speaker 3: it a little bit on their not with the listeners
- 2:52Speaker 3: necessarily care, but they are, you know, we have total
- 2:55Speaker 3: redo here, so they're moving us downstairs into one of
- 2:58Speaker 3: those new studios.
- 2:59Speaker 5: And that's going to be the transition studio for everybody
- 3:01Speaker 5: in the building. Everybody will rotate through that studio until
- 3:05Speaker 5: the last rebuild is done. And I think it's your boy,
- 3:09Speaker 5: Steve Animal in the Mountain is going to get it.
- 3:11Speaker 5: He'll be the last guy in there, and then he'll
- 3:13Speaker 5: never leave. That's because that's where he will be locked
- 3:15Speaker 5: up and kept because it'll be trashed. It'll be beer
- 3:18Speaker 5: cans all if it's not before then, he will definitely
- 3:22Speaker 5: be good thing. He's the last one.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Do you use it? Yeah? Absolutely, will smell like bad
- 3:26Speaker 3: decisions exactly. Well, all right, so you're here to talk
- 3:29Speaker 3: about high school football. Last night, Tom Bragg and Matt
- 3:32Speaker 3: Murphy had the call of the Hoover Winge game. That
- 3:34Speaker 3: was kind of a blowout, as we kind of unfortunately
- 3:36Speaker 3: for Wayne. We kind of thought it would be Hoover
- 3:39Speaker 3: improved to I think six and oh.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Yeah they're six and oh and your Joey feels on
- 3:43Speaker 5: the morning news talking about it, and it was a
- 3:46Speaker 5: they're really in a in a in just a mode
- 3:51Speaker 5: now to try and host a couple of playoff games.
- 3:53Speaker 5: That's sort of their goal at this point.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Stay healthy.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Yeah, they like to they'd like to host at least too,
- 3:59Speaker 5: maybe even replayoff games and then just drive to Charleston
- 4:02Speaker 5: for the title said which which you know this year,
- 4:04Speaker 5: that's what they would do.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Let's talk about the game that you and Aaron Parker
- 4:07Speaker 3: have to name.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Well, we've got Hurricane, who's number nine in Class Quad
- 4:11Speaker 5: A taken.
- 4:11Speaker 3: On Triple A.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Capital Capital is two and three, but they are a
- 4:16Speaker 5: team that is, you know, dangerous because they've got a
- 4:19Speaker 5: lot of skill. However, most of their you know guys
- 4:22Speaker 5: are young and they're just learning. But man, they've got
- 4:25Speaker 5: the raw talent there, as Capital always does. John Carpenter
- 4:28Speaker 5: is the coach again. He's back in charge there and
- 4:31Speaker 5: he's starting to get them believing in themselves and starting
- 4:34Speaker 5: to feel their oads and many they'd like nothing more
- 4:37Speaker 5: than to get a win and go to a three
- 4:39Speaker 5: and three on the season with a victory over Hurricane.
- 4:42Speaker 5: That'll be a tall order because obviously Hurricanes got it's
- 4:45Speaker 5: mojo working as well. They took care of business last
- 4:49Speaker 5: week against Saint Albans and they seem to have everything
- 4:52Speaker 5: moving in the right direction. They felt real comfortable with
- 4:55Speaker 5: They kind of used last week's game against Saint Albans
- 4:58Speaker 5: almost as an extra workout to get some things done
- 5:00Speaker 5: and work out some kinks, and they felt pretty good
- 5:03Speaker 5: about that. Tyshawn Dues, their standout wide receiver, didn't even
- 5:07Speaker 5: play last week. He had a little bit of turf
- 5:09Speaker 5: toe from the week before, so he got a rest.
- 5:11Speaker 5: He'll be back in action, I think tonight and shell
- 5:14Speaker 5: Lee Campton, They're other wide out, has really been lights out.
- 5:17Speaker 5: So if anybody can match up with these guys, definitely
- 5:20Speaker 5: Capital has the skill to do it, but do they
- 5:22Speaker 5: have the experience? And that'll be the question we're trying
- 5:25Speaker 5: to answer tonight. Novella timebe the quarterback at Hurricane Is.
- 5:28Speaker 5: He's been lights out as well, so look for him
- 5:30Speaker 5: to have a big evening. And I'm looking forward to seeing.
- 5:32Speaker 5: Speaking of new Digs, because they are now hosting the
- 5:36Speaker 5: state high school football championships, they've done a lot of
- 5:39Speaker 5: work over at Ladleyfield University of Charleston Stadium, including a
- 5:42Speaker 5: rebuild of the press box and and and anybody who
- 5:47Speaker 5: is familiar with that area, it used to be a
- 5:50Speaker 5: big open air, you know, rooftop broadcast facility. They've kind
- 5:54Speaker 5: of divided that up and that's where we'll be coming
- 5:56Speaker 5: to you from tonight, and I'm told I've not seen
- 5:58Speaker 5: it yet, but I'm told by several people have done
- 6:00Speaker 5: games there that it's looking really nice over there.
- 6:03Speaker 3: That sounds good. The weather is going to be perfect
- 6:05Speaker 3: fall weather because we really haven't had I don't think
- 6:08Speaker 3: we've had a Friday night that actually felt like fall.
- 6:11Speaker 3: But it's I felt last week. Last week was closed, okay,
- 6:13Speaker 3: because when I stepped out of the house this morning,
- 6:15Speaker 3: I was like, gets down right cold. Oh yeah, I was.
- 6:17Speaker 5: I was looking at that grass in these boat and
- 6:19Speaker 5: going die die, Come on, frost, just do it for me,
- 6:22Speaker 5: just kill it all.
- 6:23Speaker 3: So it is going to be great weather tonight for
- 6:25Speaker 3: that Hurricane and Capital matchup, and of course we'll have
- 6:28Speaker 3: all the coverage here starting at one time.
- 6:30Speaker 5: We'll be on there at seven following sports Line. The
- 6:32Speaker 5: kickoff is at seven thirty from Ladley Field.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Let's talk about West Virginia doors tomorrow Weekenin.
- 6:36Speaker 5: You know, a couple of weeks ago, I went to
- 6:38Speaker 5: the West Virginia Trappers convention at Glenville and I got
- 6:42Speaker 5: a few interviews there. I'm going to put those together
- 6:44Speaker 5: tomorrow for a pre produced show, but really good information
- 6:50Speaker 5: those trappers man, those guys know the woods better than anybody.
- 6:52Speaker 5: So we'll talk about trapping for the most part and
- 6:55Speaker 5: hoping to get an update. We talked about this right
- 6:57Speaker 5: after Hurricane Helene. You know, blue Stone Down was full
- 7:01Speaker 5: of debris and was almost up was well above Summer Pool.
- 7:05Speaker 5: All that's filtering down through the New River. How is
- 7:08Speaker 5: that impacting fishing? Because this is a great time of
- 7:10Speaker 5: year to be fishing the New River. I'll talk to
- 7:12Speaker 5: my buddy Larry Nybert with the West Virginia Experience tomorrow.
- 7:15Speaker 5: He's going to give us an update on where things
- 7:17Speaker 5: stand as far as fishing on the New River goes tomorrow.
- 7:19Speaker 5: So that'll be uh, that'll be part of the broadcast
- 7:21Speaker 5: tomorrow as well.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Look forward to that, Chris, I appreciate next time we
- 7:24Speaker 3: talk will be in a new studio.
- 7:26Speaker 5: Well yeah, let's hope.
- 7:28Speaker 3: That's the plan, and we may be setting up out
- 7:30Speaker 3: front outside.
- 7:31Speaker 5: We may have a couple of tin cans and a
- 7:33Speaker 5: piece of string out in the strout on Virginia Street
- 7:35Speaker 5: here and or a megaphone, just trying to get as
- 7:37Speaker 5: many people as we can. Although if we had a
- 7:40Speaker 5: megaphone out in the parking lot, that would probably be
- 7:42Speaker 5: equally your listenerships.
- 7:44Speaker 3: So other's that. Yeah, Yes, that's nice, Chris, thanks a lot.
- 7:47Speaker 3: And no, because you're a Hall of Famer doesn't mean
- 7:48Speaker 3: you can talk to me that.
- 7:49Speaker 5: I give you. I give you the best audience you
- 7:52Speaker 5: have coming into this thing, so I hope you appreciate it.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I appreciate it. Chris is responsible for me being here,
- 7:56Speaker 3: so go ahead and blame him for that. All right, Chris,
- 7:58Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 7:59Speaker 6: Man.
- 8:00Speaker 3: After our coverage of Hurricane and CAPITALI stick around for
- 8:02Speaker 3: Fred and Dave and the crew with Metro News Game night.
- 8:04Speaker 3: All right, let's transition talk to Hannah Gardner from the
- 8:07Speaker 3: Kennaal Charles new Man Association with this week's Adopt Me
- 8:10Speaker 3: Please Pet of the Week. Hannah, good morning, Good morning.
- 8:13Speaker 7: How are you.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I'm doing fine, Welcome to the show. Now, you don't
- 8:16Speaker 3: get to come in studio with us. You have a
- 8:19Speaker 3: couple of times, but you know, this is kind of
- 8:21Speaker 3: our thing. We're all excited about here as we're getting
- 8:23Speaker 3: a new studio. So the next time that you actually
- 8:25Speaker 3: do grace us with your appearance here, it'll be in
- 8:28Speaker 3: a brand new facility.
- 8:31Speaker 7: I'll have to come see it.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely, I'll send you some pictures a little bit
- 8:35Speaker 3: later and you can see. And maybe I don't, but
- 8:37Speaker 3: they told us they sent out a memo that said
- 8:40Speaker 3: in the new studios, no food or drink, and I
- 8:42Speaker 3: think that probably applies to animals as well. So I
- 8:45Speaker 3: don't know if they're going to allow dogs or cats
- 8:47Speaker 3: in the studio.
- 8:49Speaker 7: Well, that is fun.
- 8:50Speaker 3: We'll still have a little highlight, all right, So let's
- 8:53Speaker 3: talk about Mischief, that is our dog this week. Tell
- 8:58Speaker 3: us the story of Mischief, all right.
- 9:01Speaker 7: Well, Mischief, he is a very very sweet and outgoing boy.
- 9:07Speaker 7: He is around one year old, and he definitely shows
- 9:12Speaker 7: as though he is still a puppy. He is very
- 9:15Speaker 7: much puppy like. So if you're looking for a larger
- 9:20Speaker 7: dog that is still puppy like but is around one
- 9:25Speaker 7: year then he would be the perfect candidate for you.
- 9:29Speaker 7: He came in as astray to Kha, so we don't
- 9:34Speaker 7: know much about his background. We just know what we
- 9:37Speaker 7: know from what he's been with us at our care.
- 9:41Speaker 7: But we do know he wasn't a home once before,
- 9:43Speaker 7: and they did verify that he is very puppy like.
- 9:47Speaker 7: He does like to romp and run and play and
- 9:50Speaker 7: be rough. And he's just your typical puppy. He would
- 9:55Speaker 7: probably benefit from a crate for crate training or some
- 10:00Speaker 7: like that, or if you have like a nice yard
- 10:03Speaker 7: that he can run around in or something just so
- 10:05Speaker 7: that way he can run out that energy and get
- 10:08Speaker 7: all of that out so he is more able to
- 10:10Speaker 7: focus and pay attention and hang out with you and
- 10:13Speaker 7: stuff like that. He's got a lot of energy that
- 10:15Speaker 7: he needs to run out. But he is kid friendly
- 10:17Speaker 7: from what we've noticed, and he is foster eligible, so
- 10:20Speaker 7: if you wanted to foster him for a few nights,
- 10:22Speaker 7: we encourage it. He is a very very good boy
- 10:25Speaker 7: and he loves other dogs.
- 10:26Speaker 8: He's very very.
- 10:27Speaker 7: Playful with other dogs. He does pool on the leash
- 10:30Speaker 7: a little bit, but that is expected where he is
- 10:33Speaker 7: still puppy like. So if you just have some patience
- 10:37Speaker 7: with him and work with him on that, he would
- 10:39Speaker 7: be a great great boy.
- 10:41Speaker 3: And again his name is Mischief And as always I've
- 10:43Speaker 3: got his picture posted. You can check it out for yourself.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Beautiful dog. Dave Aland Radio and Facebook that's where you'll
- 10:47Speaker 3: find the picture of Mischief and at Dave A seventy
- 10:50Speaker 3: or the Dave Allen Show on X on the artist
- 10:52Speaker 3: formerly known as Twitter. The Dave Allen Show in five
- 10:54Speaker 3: any Live is presented in part by General Hardware of
- 10:56Speaker 3: Winfield and Milton and General Number of Winfield All Projects,
- 10:59Speaker 3: Big small shop locally visited General Hardware WV dot com.
- 11:03Speaker 3: How are we look at as far as the numbers
- 11:05Speaker 3: go at the shelter, Hannah.
- 11:07Speaker 7: Oh, well, not too much different. We still kind of
- 11:11Speaker 7: have just been hanging out in the overflow number range.
- 11:16Speaker 7: We're still in critical capacity right now. But I will
- 11:21Speaker 7: say we have been getting a good bit out. That
- 11:24Speaker 7: doesn't mean that anything's really changing, because as soon as
- 11:27Speaker 7: we get them out, we get more in. We get
- 11:29Speaker 7: more in all the time, So it's kind of just
- 11:32Speaker 7: like a rotating thing. Right now. We get a good
- 11:35Speaker 7: bit out, we get a good bid in, and it's
- 11:37Speaker 7: not really changing at the very moment.
- 11:39Speaker 3: What do you need of As a matter of fact,
- 11:42Speaker 3: just as I said that, somebody texted and said, do
- 11:44Speaker 3: they still need blankets and towels? I think that's a
- 11:46Speaker 3: given that you always do, Is that right? Oh?
- 11:49Speaker 7: My goodness, Yes, we always need blankets and towels. We
- 11:52Speaker 7: always need I do think we had gotten in when
- 11:56Speaker 7: we ask for purian a dog child. This just kind
- 11:59Speaker 7: of gives you example. We did ask for peering a
- 12:02Speaker 7: dog chow last time that I was on this show,
- 12:05Speaker 7: as well as on our social media, and we got
- 12:09Speaker 7: in I don't know, gosh, we got in probably over
- 12:12Speaker 7: one hundred almost maybe so bags of dog food for
- 12:16Speaker 7: the kennel dogs and that was gone within that same week,
- 12:20Speaker 7: so it's it's very very fast. I think we were
- 12:23Speaker 7: gone like earlier in that week. So yes, peering a
- 12:27Speaker 7: dog chowd puppy chow, kit and chow. I know that
- 12:30Speaker 7: the blankets and linens are always welcome. We always run
- 12:34Speaker 7: through those because we can't keep a lot of them.
- 12:36Speaker 7: A lot of them get too soiled for us to keep,
- 12:39Speaker 7: so we have to throw them away. So yes, we
- 12:41Speaker 7: are always always always wanting some blankets in linen.
- 12:44Speaker 3: And I think it's very important for listeners to remember that.
- 12:47Speaker 3: You know, they may be animal lovers and maybe they
- 12:50Speaker 3: can't necessarily have an animal, they live in an apartment
- 12:52Speaker 3: or something, or maybe they're just maxed out and they
- 12:54Speaker 3: can't take it anymore. There are always ways that you
- 12:57Speaker 3: can help the shelter that don't necessarily have to be
- 13:01Speaker 3: hands on, that you don't necessarily have to adopt a
- 13:03Speaker 3: pet or even foster one. There are plenty of ways.
- 13:05Speaker 3: If you're an animal lover like I am, like you are,
- 13:08Speaker 3: there are other ways that people can help, and this
- 13:11Speaker 3: would be a great one of those. But just help
- 13:13Speaker 3: them with the supplies and donations of such.
- 13:16Speaker 7: Yes, of course, the donations are something that is.
- 13:19Speaker 9: A big, big, big help.
- 13:20Speaker 7: We always love when people will bring up some donations.
- 13:22Speaker 7: It's very helpful. But you can also do a couple
- 13:25Speaker 7: other things you can. Of course, as always, we encourage
- 13:29Speaker 7: you to adopt. If you can't do that. We have
- 13:32Speaker 7: our body program, which is where you take them out
- 13:34Speaker 7: for the day on a day trip if you want
- 13:36Speaker 7: to go to like a pupcin festival or something. And
- 13:39Speaker 7: then we also have weekend fosters where you can foster
- 13:42Speaker 7: for the weekend. We also have just fostering where you
- 13:45Speaker 7: can foster for just a couple of days to a
- 13:47Speaker 7: week or something just however long you may need. We
- 13:50Speaker 7: also have slumber parties where you can take them just
- 13:53Speaker 7: through the night and see how it goes. And volunteering, donating, adopting,
- 13:57Speaker 7: all of that it's just very big help. We definitely
- 14:00Speaker 7: need it, and right now it's the time that we
- 14:02Speaker 7: could use everybody's help to get all of these animals out,
- 14:05Speaker 7: even if you just want to come up and take
- 14:06Speaker 7: a dog for a walk, take some pictures of them,
- 14:08Speaker 7: learn all about them, and maybe even make a post
- 14:10Speaker 7: of them yourself.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Final thing I want to bring up here. We had
- 14:14Speaker 3: a text the so do you take puppy and kitt
- 14:16Speaker 3: and milk supplements?
- 14:19Speaker 7: Yes?
- 14:19Speaker 3: I don't think they meant do you personally take them?
- 14:21Speaker 3: I think do you have them with your breakfast? I
- 14:24Speaker 3: think they were asking do you accept the donations?
- 14:27Speaker 7: Yes, we do. We definitely take in milk replacements as
- 14:31Speaker 7: well as the supplements that go along with those, anything
- 14:34Speaker 7: that we can get to help, because we do have
- 14:37Speaker 7: some kittens and puppies that come in that may need
- 14:39Speaker 7: that extra push. So yes, we definitely take this.
- 14:42Speaker 3: All right, Hannah, we'll talk to you next week. I
- 14:44Speaker 3: appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot, Thank you and
- 14:47Speaker 3: a garden from the GNNALA. Charles and you made association.
- 14:49Speaker 3: The dog's name is Mischief, one year old male not
- 14:52Speaker 3: fixed yet but will be. Seems to be dog friend.
- 14:54Speaker 3: He has a lot of puppy like tendencies, they say,
- 14:57Speaker 3: which means he's probably going to chew one things a
- 14:59Speaker 3: little bit till he gets a little bit older and
- 15:00Speaker 3: it's corrected. Seems to be really good with other playful dogs.
- 15:04Speaker 3: They're still working on the house training with them a
- 15:06Speaker 3: little bit. But again he's young, only one years old.
- 15:09Speaker 3: One year old, so there's certainly something that you could
- 15:11Speaker 3: work through. A beautiful, beautiful dog. Update. He's updated on

- 19:28Speaker 3: Dear Dave, make sure you give us the thirty second
- 19:30Speaker 3: warning on Greg Thomas. Thank you in advance should be
- 19:33Speaker 3: around nine forty or so. Every time I have mister Thomas,
- 19:36Speaker 3: you can just have these guests on the show that
- 19:39Speaker 3: whether people like them or don't like them, or they're indifferent,
- 19:42Speaker 3: that they always elicit a lot of calls, a lot
- 19:44Speaker 3: of texts and things of that nature. You know, we
- 19:46Speaker 3: call them in the business. We call them hot buttons,
- 19:48Speaker 3: and Greg Thomas is a hot button. Mike Pushkin is
- 19:50Speaker 3: a hot button. So yeah, yeah, I'm gonna give you
- 19:53Speaker 3: a warning that about twenty tail or so Greg Thomas
- 19:56Speaker 3: is going to join us. I don't have to give
- 19:58Speaker 3: a warning for this gentleman of those name is Andrew
- 20:01Speaker 3: Blackwell with Habitat for Humanity. How are you man?
- 20:03Speaker 9: Good morning? Yeah, you're doing great.
- 20:05Speaker 3: What did you do with strong?
- 20:05Speaker 9: I thought, I don't know. You know he works on
- 20:08Speaker 9: his own schedules.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Well, he may very well be the busiest man in
- 20:11Speaker 3: the one.
- 20:12Speaker 9: He was probably listening to us right now.
- 20:14Speaker 3: So you have a big event coming up next week.
- 20:18Speaker 3: It's going to be at the Baltwyooed Event Center on
- 20:21Speaker 3: Patrick Street and Charleston called the Taste of Chef Paul.
- 20:25Speaker 3: It is not, of course, to our James James Beard
- 20:27Speaker 3: Award winning chef Chef Paul Smith. It's fundraiser though for
- 20:30Speaker 3: Habitat for Humanity.
- 20:31Speaker 9: Talk about this event, yeah, So every year we offer
- 20:35Speaker 9: a taste of selections from a prominent chef from across
- 20:39Speaker 9: West Virginia. Usually that chef is from out of town.
- 20:42Speaker 9: But the timeliness of the James Beard Award really called
- 20:48Speaker 9: us to invite Chef Paul to come do this event
- 20:52Speaker 9: for us. And I learned just the other day that
- 20:54Speaker 9: when he was in high school, he was a volunteer
- 20:56Speaker 9: for Habitat for Humanity here in Charleston, So it was
- 21:00Speaker 9: a really good fit. I think he's excited to do it.
- 21:02Speaker 3: So I'm looking at this menu here, and you know,
- 21:04Speaker 3: I'm a foodie, so I'm looking at this menu, so
- 21:07Speaker 3: I'm just gonna mention a couple of things here. Ten
- 21:10Speaker 3: ten caesar salad. You had me at caesar salad. That's
- 21:13Speaker 3: one of my favorite things in the world. A horseradish
- 21:16Speaker 3: bread and butter pickles, toasted briosh with ramp herb, peppercorn potato,
- 21:24Speaker 3: soufle bites. And over to the main menu, Nashville Fried chicken. Yeah,
- 21:29Speaker 3: you got me on that one got me out of
- 21:30Speaker 3: all these, I don't even.
- 21:31Speaker 9: Read all these, you know. And the great thing is
- 21:33Speaker 9: the selection. You get to go pick and try things.
- 21:38Speaker 9: And these are staples that that Chef Paul is known for.
- 21:42Speaker 9: The golf shrimp and grets, cast iron seared ten ten beef,
- 21:46Speaker 9: and then a chocolate silk tartlet for dessert.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Let me tell you you had my wife at Shrimp
- 21:51Speaker 3: and Grits because that's her favorite thief. She had to
- 21:53Speaker 3: choose between me and a shrimp for grits. Goodbye, Dave. Absolutely,
- 21:57Speaker 3: but I'm a big I'm a big fan of just
- 21:59Speaker 3: about any kind of food. Now, this is happening Tuesday's
- 22:01Speaker 3: Baldwooed event center. Talk about how to get tickets.
- 22:04Speaker 9: Yeah, so you can go to our website. If you
- 22:06Speaker 9: search for Habitat for Humanity knaf hutting them, you'll find
- 22:10Speaker 9: us there and it's one of the banner images. So
- 22:15Speaker 9: you can click on it and get tickets. Now you're
- 22:16Speaker 9: going to have to act fast. I think we have
- 22:18Speaker 9: less than a dozen tickets left.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Really less than a dozen tickets left, yes, Well, and
- 22:23Speaker 3: then there's and for good reason, I mean, because this
- 22:25Speaker 3: is a great event. And I'm going to give a
- 22:27Speaker 3: big shout out to the folks over to Baltwood and
- 22:29Speaker 3: their event center, David Sean and those folks over there.
- 22:32Speaker 3: They're just fantastic to give back to the community, whether
- 22:34Speaker 3: it's this event, the Inside the Huddle event that they
- 22:37Speaker 3: host every year with Tony Kreedi, there's just so many
- 22:39Speaker 3: different events that they have over there. They're just simply
- 22:42Speaker 3: it simply great people that believe in giving back in
- 22:44Speaker 3: the community.
- 22:45Speaker 9: Well, you know, and that's critical and I think it's
- 22:48Speaker 9: a central focus of our mission as well, providing affordable
- 22:52Speaker 9: housing to neighbors in our community because everybody deserves a
- 22:57Speaker 9: decent place to live.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Matter of fact, mister Strung just texted me and said listening,
- 23:02Speaker 3: thank you. So he's listening somewhere.
- 23:05Speaker 9: My phone beep too, So well.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you were including on the text as well.
- 23:09Speaker 3: The Dave Allen Showing five Day Live, brought to you
- 23:10Speaker 3: apart by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds,
- 23:13Speaker 3: Birds and our sister station, the Beats, invite you to
- 23:16Speaker 3: go Mark Ballpark Thursday, the twenty fourth for Trick or Beat,
- 23:19Speaker 3: presented by Selango Law. Two sessions, one at six the
- 23:22Speaker 3: other at seven thirty. You must have a ticket to
- 23:25Speaker 3: be admitted. Tickets are available in our studios eleven eleven, Virginia,
- 23:28Speaker 3: Stree D's, and Charleston during normal business hours. And you
- 23:32Speaker 3: got to get those tickets, all right. So you touched
- 23:35Speaker 3: on a little bit, Andrew, But let's go back and
- 23:37Speaker 3: kind of give us the overall mission of Habitat for Humanity.
- 23:41Speaker 9: Yeah, so we develop and provide affordable housing for members
- 23:46Speaker 9: of our community, and there's a big misconception that Habitat
- 23:51Speaker 9: gives houses away. That's actually not the case. Our big
- 23:56Speaker 9: advantage for folks who need housing and who are willing
- 24:02Speaker 9: to partner with us by investing sweat equity and helping
- 24:05Speaker 9: build their house or the house of somebody else in
- 24:08Speaker 9: the program is a zero percent interest mortgage. And so
- 24:12Speaker 9: over the life of a thirty year mortgage that you know, normally,
- 24:16Speaker 9: at commercial rates you pay just as much as you
- 24:19Speaker 9: pay for the house in interest, and so at zero
- 24:22Speaker 9: percent entest you don't have that expense.
- 24:25Speaker 3: And the tickets for this particular event again are one
- 24:27Speaker 3: hundred dollars for single tickets or a couple, or for
- 24:30Speaker 3: two tickets one hundred and seventy five dollars. But as
- 24:33Speaker 3: Andrews said, you got to get these, like you know,
- 24:35Speaker 3: yesterday quickly.
- 24:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:36Speaker 9: I figure they'll be sold out by the end of today,
- 24:39Speaker 9: by the.
- 24:39Speaker 3: End of this interview they made, it could be they
- 24:42Speaker 3: could be gone. And I think it's very important that
- 24:44Speaker 3: you bring out again about the misconceptions about Habitat for Humanity,
- 24:47Speaker 3: which you mentioned is that you're just you know, giving
- 24:49Speaker 3: people home and saying here, here's your house. And you know,
- 24:52Speaker 3: like Oprah, you get a car, You get a car
- 24:54Speaker 3: and here's some keys, and have at it. But it's sweat.
- 24:57Speaker 3: It's all about sweat.
- 24:58Speaker 9: Equity it is. You know. We we like to say
- 25:00Speaker 9: that we do not give a handout, we give a
- 25:02Speaker 9: hand up. And you know, access to affordable housing is
- 25:07Speaker 9: becoming more and more difficult, especially safe, decent housing, and
- 25:13Speaker 9: so I think we play a critical role in this
- 25:16Speaker 9: in part of the solution. We're not the whole solution
- 25:20Speaker 9: by any means, but but we do do a substantial part.
- 25:24Speaker 3: I believe. I don't want to talk a little bit
- 25:26Speaker 3: about my good friend Cheff Paul Smith. He may be
- 25:29Speaker 3: challenging Jim Strawn for the busiest guy in Charleston, I
- 25:32Speaker 3: mean with his restaurants. And I was going to say
- 25:35Speaker 3: he announced earlier this week he's going to be opening
- 25:37Speaker 3: up a new place upon Bridge Road, an Italian neighborhood
- 25:40Speaker 3: type spot called Police. I love the name. I love it.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I love it, and and I read the article that
- 25:45Speaker 3: the great article that's the food gat Steven Keith did
- 25:48Speaker 3: in the Gazette mail earlier this week about that. But
- 25:50Speaker 3: he always, you know, Cheff Paul always has time to
- 25:53Speaker 3: give back to the community. I mean, I've got I
- 25:56Speaker 3: had a matter of fact, I'll tell you a quick
- 25:58Speaker 3: story a couple of weeks ago. He's doing an event
- 26:00Speaker 3: and he's doing some different projects with health right, and
- 26:03Speaker 3: I put the wrong graphic on my little Facebook post
- 26:07Speaker 3: promoting the show because I had like three different things
- 26:09Speaker 3: that Chef Paul was doing, and in my preview, I
- 26:13Speaker 3: put up the wrong graphic for the wrong event and
- 26:15Speaker 3: I had to go back to correct it because I
- 26:17Speaker 3: got them all mixed up.
- 26:18Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, his commitment to the community is really commendable,
- 26:24Speaker 9: and you know that's we all thrive when we help
- 26:29Speaker 9: each other.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Yeah. Indeed, again we're talking with Andrew Blackwell with Habitat
- 26:33Speaker 3: for Humanity the Taste of Chef Paul in Charleston, and
- 26:36Speaker 3: again it's been advertised as an exclusive dinner featuring variety
- 26:40Speaker 3: of gourmet itams prepared by Chef Paul Smith. It's Tuesday
- 26:43Speaker 3: at the ball tow Ooed Event Center, but as of
- 26:45Speaker 3: the our airtime this morning, there were only about twelve
- 26:48Speaker 3: tickets or so left. You got to get hit the
- 26:50Speaker 3: website and you got to get those tickets, and it's
- 26:52Speaker 3: just going to be I think one of those events
- 26:55Speaker 3: Andrew and Charleston that you don't want to miss.
- 26:57Speaker 9: No, you know, we won't have a whole lot of talking.
- 27:00Speaker 9: We'll talk a little bit about what we do and
- 27:02Speaker 9: why we do it, but the evenings about.
- 27:05Speaker 3: The food, yeah, and about Habitat for Humanity as well.
- 27:08Speaker 3: And I mean, I mean I first got this, you know,
- 27:11Speaker 3: last night. Actually well actually I already had it saved anyway,
- 27:14Speaker 3: but I was looking at it and I was like,
- 27:16Speaker 3: my god, this sounds good, and I don't at my
- 27:18Speaker 3: particular time I read this, I didn't have any of
- 27:19Speaker 3: these items in my kitchen. Yeah, I did not have
- 27:22Speaker 3: access to a player to shrimp and grits at like
- 27:24Speaker 3: nine o'clock.
- 27:25Speaker 9: Last night, right exactly.
- 27:26Speaker 3: That's good. So, by the way, you are the second
- 27:29Speaker 3: to last guests to be in this particular studio.
- 27:31Speaker 9: You just told me that. That's I feel honored.
- 27:34Speaker 3: On Monday, we will be moving downstairs, and the whole
- 27:36Speaker 3: plan is we're going to move downstairs, which is, like
- 27:39Speaker 3: Chris said, a transitional studio, and then they're going to
- 27:42Speaker 3: rebuild the studio that we are in now with cameras.
- 27:45Speaker 3: So in addition to listening to the show, just like
- 27:49Speaker 3: and you can, you can watch you can, you can
- 27:51Speaker 3: watch all of the you can watch Jim Strawn come
- 27:53Speaker 3: into our studio and kick over the computer tower like
- 27:56Speaker 3: a couple of.
- 27:56Speaker 9: The cameras would be here today. So I got all
- 27:58Speaker 9: dolled up, but apparently for no reason.
- 28:00Speaker 3: All right, so again, let's go over all the details
- 28:03Speaker 3: on the event again. Go ahead.
- 28:04Speaker 9: Yeah, So this coming Tuesday, the sponsors reception starts at five,
- 28:09Speaker 9: dinner at six. Tickets are available at HFHKP dot org.
- 28:13Speaker 3: And it's going to be a great menu. I've mentioned
- 28:15Speaker 3: some of the items are going to be there, and
- 28:16Speaker 3: all of the benefit, all the proceeds that are raised
- 28:19Speaker 3: will benefit Habitat for Humanity. Big shout out to the
- 28:21Speaker 3: folks of ball Toyota and also the John L. Dickinson
- 28:24Speaker 3: Family Homeowner Education and Community Center as well. Get those tickets.
- 28:28Speaker 3: As of airtime, there are only about twelve tickets that
- 28:31Speaker 3: were available, So get them quick, get them all right?
- 28:33Speaker 3: All right, Andrew, I appreciate you being here twenty five

- 33:26Speaker 3: Greg Thomas is here. I said that, Greg, because I
- 33:30Speaker 3: read some online chatter that some people were upset. Now
- 33:33Speaker 3: there's always going to be and I'm a sports nut,
- 33:35Speaker 3: so there's always going to be people that say, unless
- 33:37Speaker 3: you wear traditional golden blue, and they do that with
- 33:40Speaker 3: Marshall too. You know, it should be one call and
- 33:42Speaker 3: I completely get that. But there are people upset that
- 33:45Speaker 3: they are pain tribute to coal miners. I mean, how
- 33:48Speaker 3: screwed up is that? I mean, to be honest with you, man,
- 33:51Speaker 3: I mean if they did the same thing with the
- 33:52Speaker 3: Dirty Birds. You know, a lot of people didn't like
- 33:54Speaker 3: the Dirty Birds name. Okay, okay, I'll give them that,
- 33:58Speaker 3: but they said, we should not be paid tribute to
- 34:01Speaker 3: a business that has caused so much devastation in West Virginia.
- 34:06Speaker 3: How about a business that supported this state for a
- 34:09Speaker 3: number of years along with the steel industry. But I'll
- 34:11Speaker 3: get off my soapbox. People.
- 34:15Speaker 14: It's a testament to how far along the country has
- 34:19Speaker 14: come for people to that's what they have to complain about, right, Like,
- 34:23Speaker 14: It's not like like how am I going to eat?
- 34:25Speaker 14: How am I going to do this? Like that? That's
- 34:27Speaker 14: the thing that's like really stuck on them, is uh
- 34:31Speaker 14: is things like that. I mean, I you know, I mean,
- 34:35Speaker 14: I'm not surprised by it. Of course. I mean it's
- 34:36Speaker 14: you know, and it's a w you know which Morgantown
- 34:38Speaker 14: is like, you know, our cities are liberal, man, at
- 34:44Speaker 14: least two of them are. Yeah, what I think Charleston's liberal.
- 34:47Speaker 14: I think Huntingdon's liberal, Morgan's liberal.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Huntington tends to be because anywhere that you have a university,
- 34:52Speaker 3: a large.
- 34:53Speaker 14: University, I've seen recent polling from that area that will
- 34:57Speaker 14: tell you that they're more liberal than what you think
- 34:59Speaker 14: they are. Yeah, it's uh, yeah, you know, look, I
- 35:04Speaker 14: think it's the whole country is that way, right though.
- 35:06Speaker 14: I mean the urban areas are becoming increasingly blue and
- 35:10Speaker 14: the rural areas are becoming increasingly red.
- 35:13Speaker 3: And the battles for the suburbs, I guess, I guess
- 35:15Speaker 3: which is probably a mix.
- 35:16Speaker 14: I would think, Yeah, well, it's it's a pendulum that
- 35:18Speaker 14: swings back and forth, right, I mean, the suburban people,
- 35:20Speaker 14: it's less about the culture and just more about the pocketbook. Yeah,
- 35:25Speaker 14: and you know, if the economy's going well, you know,
- 35:28Speaker 14: they have the ability to care about other issues. And
- 35:31Speaker 14: if it's not going well, then you know, that's that's
- 35:33Speaker 14: what they care about. And I think right now in
- 35:35Speaker 14: the country that is what people care about, right, I mean,
- 35:37Speaker 14: I think the suburban people now it's less about you know, uh,
- 35:43Speaker 14: you know, social issues and things like that, and it's more,
- 35:46Speaker 14: you know, inflation's killing people. You know, inflation's killing people.
- 35:49Speaker 14: And if you're somebody that's you know, bought a house
- 35:52Speaker 14: on a five year arm or whatever, and you're living
- 35:55Speaker 14: in a you know, the suburbs, and you're like, gosh,
- 35:58Speaker 14: you know this this the entry rates are killing me. Uh,
- 36:01Speaker 14: just going to the grocery store is very, very expensive.
- 36:06Speaker 14: And I think that's you know, when when Trump makes
- 36:09Speaker 14: the election about that, he picks up steam, right, and
- 36:14Speaker 14: he has been doing that for the last few weeks.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Then look, you know, and I'm not necessarily a fan
- 36:18Speaker 3: of Donald Trump, but I will say this, I agree
- 36:20Speaker 3: with you one hundred percent on that because but but
- 36:22Speaker 3: he can't seem to help himself, Greg. He has to
- 36:24Speaker 3: go off on these tangents and put out so much
- 36:27Speaker 3: bs out there that gets if he would just stay
- 36:29Speaker 3: and I know probably his hammlers are saying, economy, economy, economy,
- 36:33Speaker 3: stay on the economy.
- 36:35Speaker 14: I talked to uh, you know, I do other radio
- 36:37Speaker 14: interviews like this and speak to groups, and I was
- 36:39Speaker 14: speaking to a conservative group up in Fairmount a couple
- 36:42Speaker 14: of weeks ago, and you know, I was talking about
- 36:45Speaker 14: the lawsuit abuse like I'm about to hear and and
- 36:47Speaker 14: and other kind of conservative issues and Republican stuff, and
- 36:51Speaker 14: one of the one of the ladies was like, man,
- 36:53Speaker 14: Trump needs somebody like you to tell him what to say.
- 36:55Speaker 14: And I was like, buddy, you know how many people
- 36:58Speaker 14: he's got like me like that. Dude's got all kinds
- 36:59Speaker 14: of people around him all day long being like you
- 37:02Speaker 14: got to say this, say this, here's the polling, here's
- 37:04Speaker 14: the messaging, here's what you got to do. And sometimes
- 37:07Speaker 14: he does and sometimes he doesn't. And I will say,
- 37:10Speaker 14: I do think he's been doing a pretty good job
- 37:12Speaker 14: over the last couple of weeks. And I think that's
- 37:13Speaker 14: why you're seeing him with a lead, right. I mean it,
- 37:17Speaker 14: it went from he had this huge lead over Biden.
- 37:21Speaker 14: You know, they they pulled you know, the Democrat, you know,
- 37:24Speaker 14: whoever makes decisions for the Democrat Party, They they pulled
- 37:29Speaker 14: him off the ballot. They installed Kamala without any votes,
- 37:35Speaker 14: and the media went crazy for and the liberals in
- 37:39Speaker 14: the city, in the urban areas went crazy for her
- 37:42Speaker 14: numbers went way way up. And now though people are
- 37:45Speaker 14: actually you know, they tried to hide her, right, I mean,
- 37:48Speaker 14: she wasn't doing the interviews.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Even the Democrats were coming, and her supporters were saying,
- 37:52Speaker 3: I mean even people on some of the Sunday morning
- 37:53Speaker 3: to the Donna Brazil's of the world, we're saying, she'll
- 37:56Speaker 3: get out there, She'll get out there. And then she
- 37:58Speaker 3: came back and said, no, she's got to get it
- 38:00Speaker 3: out there. Well, and she has been and she has.
- 38:02Speaker 14: Been well, she has been and it hasn't been going
- 38:04Speaker 14: very well.
- 38:05Speaker 6: Right.
- 38:05Speaker 14: I mean, I think, Look, I don't think this is
- 38:08Speaker 14: a situation of her being incompetent. I think this is
- 38:11Speaker 14: I mean, I don't think I think she's extremely liberal,
- 38:14Speaker 14: and I think they are now coaching her to say,
- 38:17Speaker 14: you can't you can't actually show people who you are
- 38:19Speaker 14: because you're going to lose, right, you're so liberal that
- 38:22Speaker 14: if people know this, and now, I think she's just
- 38:24Speaker 14: sort of being overhandled, right, And and that's you know,
- 38:28Speaker 14: and I've seen it at the local level. I mean
- 38:30Speaker 14: not to this degree because it's you know, national attention
- 38:33Speaker 14: and all that, but you know, I think she's just
- 38:35Speaker 14: being overhandled and she's being overhandled because they are scared
- 38:40Speaker 14: to death. She's going to actually tell people what she thinks,
- 38:43Speaker 14: which is far far left of where those independent suburban
- 38:48Speaker 14: people that you sort of brought up are. And I
- 38:51Speaker 14: think Trump, you know, so now all of a sudden,
- 38:54Speaker 14: she's you know, not doing great on the on the
- 38:57Speaker 14: on the on the stage, you know, on the world stage.
- 39:01Speaker 14: Really because everybody's watching to see what happens with our
- 39:03Speaker 14: with our presidential election. Trump right now is actually staying
- 39:08Speaker 14: relatively disciplined for him.
- 39:12Speaker 3: For him, it's.
- 39:14Speaker 14: A scale, it's a relative situation, and I think he's
- 39:18Speaker 14: doing a pretty good job of staying focused.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Uh.
- 39:21Speaker 14: And it's right, it's immigration, it's the economy. That's what
- 39:26Speaker 14: they need to be talking about. And I think the
- 39:28Speaker 14: more the Democrats, uh, you know, they're they're this whole
- 39:33Speaker 14: thing where like she's trying to separate herself from Biden
- 39:36Speaker 14: is hilarious to me, right, I mean, you're the vice president.
- 39:39Speaker 3: That's a hard ask anybody.
- 39:41Speaker 14: And the fact that they're you know, it's it's they're
- 39:43Speaker 14: trying to pull it off. It's not working among anybody
- 39:46Speaker 14: other than like their you know, solid blue people are
- 39:50Speaker 14: believing that. So they're in a tough spot. I mean,
- 39:53Speaker 14: they really are. You know, they've got a candidate that
- 39:55Speaker 14: can't actually be yourself. They've got an economy that they
- 39:59Speaker 14: have to own, which is very which is not going well.
- 40:03Speaker 11: Uh.
- 40:03Speaker 14: You know, you've got this unrest in several different places
- 40:07Speaker 14: across the world that that we keep meddling in and
- 40:11Speaker 14: uh and people back home, man are just kind of like,
- 40:14Speaker 14: you know, I don't want you to continue to fill
- 40:17Speaker 14: our cities with illegals. I you know, don't you know
- 40:19Speaker 14: we need to put our FEMA money in these in
- 40:23Speaker 14: the wake of these hurricanes and storms rather than just
- 40:26Speaker 14: you know, propping up you know, bringing in hundreds of
- 40:29Speaker 14: thousands and millions of illegals, uh to our country cities.
- 40:32Speaker 14: And they're in a tough spot. I mean, I think
- 40:34Speaker 14: if the I think, look, I think at the election
- 40:36Speaker 14: were today Trump wins. But as you said said, you know,
- 40:41Speaker 14: we've got a month and uh he is you know,
- 40:45Speaker 14: he's stuck his foot in his mouth in less time
- 40:48Speaker 14: than a month before.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Yes, yes, indeed. But Dave Allen Chilling five Any Life

- 41:11Speaker 3: what they did was ABC here A inflation is not
- 41:15Speaker 3: killing people. B climate change caused by burning fossil fuels
- 41:19Speaker 3: is actually killing people. And see Greg Thomas is a suburbanite.
- 41:22Speaker 14: Oh my gosh, this person, this person, this person's one
- 41:27Speaker 14: for three. I actually am a suburbanite.
- 41:30Speaker 3: So okay, they as am, I as am I I'm
- 41:32Speaker 3: a suburbanite.
- 41:33Speaker 14: They're one for three. I live in h I live
- 41:35Speaker 14: at the edge of South Charleston because I don't live
- 41:38Speaker 14: within the socialist confines of where I'm currently located. Uh
- 41:44Speaker 14: they' they're one for three there, right. I mean, for
- 41:46Speaker 14: anybody to say that inflation isn't killing people, it's like,
- 41:50Speaker 14: I mean, this is either somebody who's just extremely brainwashed
- 41:55Speaker 14: on the end of where like they're entirely relying upon
- 41:58Speaker 14: the government for their own well being, or it's somebody
- 42:01Speaker 14: that's so rich they don't have to worry about the
- 42:04Speaker 14: fact that their groceries cost twice as much as they
- 42:05Speaker 14: did three years ago. And so you know, in climate change,
- 42:11Speaker 14: if you still believe in climate change at this time,
- 42:13Speaker 14: I mean, what a like? How gullible do you have
- 42:16Speaker 14: to be? I mean what an unbelievable?
- 42:17Speaker 3: Mean let me push back on a little bit. Do
- 42:19Speaker 3: you think it's possible for people to believe because it's
- 42:21Speaker 3: always been this yet? Yes or no? I am one
- 42:25Speaker 3: that believes that climate change is a thing, but I
- 42:28Speaker 3: don't necessarily know how much how much I buy into
- 42:31Speaker 3: the fact that man has as much to do with
- 42:33Speaker 3: it as what they say it does. I mean, the
- 42:35Speaker 3: climate is changing, but.
- 42:37Speaker 14: But it's I guess I got Okay, I should have
- 42:40Speaker 14: said I think my man made climate change as a hoax.
- 42:44Speaker 14: I think it is a hoax. I think it's it's
- 42:45Speaker 14: a socialist driven scam.
- 42:49Speaker 3: And let me get to Okay, we discovered that you
- 42:52Speaker 3: were a suburbodad. Okay, we answer that Greg Thomas is
- 42:55Speaker 3: a Republican propagandist who's used talking points to appease his
- 42:58Speaker 3: dear leader your fiance.
- 43:00Speaker 14: Now, I don't have any talking points in front of me.
- 43:05Speaker 14: I guess I just say the things that I that
- 43:07Speaker 14: I believe. I don't know. I there are things that
- 43:13Speaker 14: I don't you know, there's there there are Republican talking
- 43:16Speaker 14: points that I can't look. I can't sit around and
- 43:18Speaker 14: watch Fox. To me, Fox News is sort of the
- 43:20Speaker 14: Republican talking point stuff, right, It's like, Okay, you're not
- 43:23Speaker 14: a fan. No, And I think and I think it's
- 43:25Speaker 14: it's just disingenuous, and I think it's it's not good
- 43:28Speaker 14: for us in the long run to just be like, Okay,
- 43:30Speaker 14: you know, let's just hit the lowest common denominator every morning, right.
- 43:34Speaker 14: I mean I get that you've got to do it sometimes,
- 43:37Speaker 14: but at some point you've got to get by just
- 43:40Speaker 14: that lowest common denominator and actually have a discussion about
- 43:42Speaker 14: how we're going to solve problems.
- 43:44Speaker 7: Uh.
- 43:44Speaker 14: And I don't really think that's what That's what that
- 43:47Speaker 14: level of cable you know, news does. And that's just
- 43:51Speaker 14: the nature of the beast, right, I mean, it's you know,
- 43:54Speaker 14: you know, it's that's Facebook, that's Fox News. It's sort
- 43:57Speaker 14: of the same, you know, the same stuff. It's just
- 43:59Speaker 14: what's the lowest I'm a denominator that we can hit,
- 44:01Speaker 14: and that's what they hit. But you know, I'm I
- 44:04Speaker 14: don't know, I'm actually a conservative, you know, I've been
- 44:06Speaker 14: a conservative my whole life. I've you know, I believe,
- 44:10Speaker 14: I believe in it, you know. I mean I'm friends
- 44:13Speaker 14: with actual liberals right that like believe it. I mean
- 44:15Speaker 14: I don't. I don't really have a lot of friends
- 44:17Speaker 14: in the modern day Democratic Party because I think they're
- 44:20Speaker 14: they're just actual like socialists. But I think, you know,
- 44:23Speaker 14: twenty years ago, Democrats were like liberal, you know what
- 44:27Speaker 14: I mean, Like they we were all trying to get
- 44:30Speaker 14: to the same place. We were just going in different directions.
- 44:34Speaker 14: And I think the modern day Democratic Party just we're
- 44:37Speaker 14: not even going to the same place. It's like we're
- 44:39Speaker 14: not even on the same.
- 44:39Speaker 3: And I think if I could play Devil's advocate here
- 44:42Speaker 3: and then we got to go a break, I think
- 44:43Speaker 3: that some of that could be said for some of
- 44:46Speaker 3: the far right Republicans and I and trust me, I'm
- 44:48Speaker 3: not talking about Greg Thomas here, I'm not talking about
- 44:50Speaker 3: Eric Tarr here. I'm talking about far far, far right.
- 44:53Speaker 3: They're doing more damage the Marjorie Taylor Greens of the
- 44:56Speaker 3: world in my opinion, are doing more damage to the
- 44:58Speaker 3: Republican Party than but any Democrat could ever do.
- 45:01Speaker 14: We have people on our side that want total control
- 45:04Speaker 14: the way there are people on the far left that
- 45:06Speaker 14: want total control. Right. I mean, that's that's really what
- 45:08Speaker 14: it is. And I guess that's what you know. There's
- 45:12Speaker 14: always been that argument of like some of the actual
- 45:14Speaker 14: conservatives are just the old school liberals.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Right.
- 45:16Speaker 14: It was like, okay, we you know, we have that
- 45:18Speaker 14: we want we want people to take care of themselves.
- 45:22Speaker 14: We want you to be able to make decisions for yourself,
- 45:24Speaker 14: whatever that decision may be. Uh, sort of that libertarian
- 45:27Speaker 14: almost end of our party.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Uh.
- 45:30Speaker 14: But no, we look, we have people on our side
- 45:32Speaker 14: that that want to force you know, certain you know,
- 45:38Speaker 14: they want to govern where they you know governm morality

- 48:58Speaker 3: Texas. I don't mind Mitre Thomas as he has as
- 49:01Speaker 3: his opinions, but I could never cast a vote for
- 49:03Speaker 3: Donald Trump. He does not stand for anything I want
- 49:05Speaker 3: to see done in America. I pity us if he
- 49:08Speaker 3: actually wins Texas, Dave, thanks for having Greg Thomas on
- 49:12Speaker 3: the program. He's a man with common sense.
- 49:15Speaker 14: Look there as my dad listening.
- 49:18Speaker 3: What is that said, Texas? It's sad listen to Greg
- 49:21Speaker 3: cheer for a dementia stricken geezer. Dementia stricken Geezer. Good
- 49:26Speaker 3: name for a band. All right, So let me let
- 49:28Speaker 3: me the real reason I had you here today was
- 49:32Speaker 3: to talk about you. Of course, they are the director
- 49:34Speaker 3: of Citizens against Laws City Abuse in West Virginia. This
- 49:36Speaker 3: has been citizens This has been Lawsuit Awareness Week. So
- 49:39Speaker 3: we got parades, we got a loss of awareness. Queen,
- 49:42Speaker 3: what do we got? You did get a proclamation from
- 49:44Speaker 3: the governor.
- 49:45Speaker 14: Yeah, the governor issued a proclamation for Lawsuit Abuse Awareness Week.
- 49:49Speaker 14: I look, just something we do every year to kind
- 49:51Speaker 14: of highlight you know, the messages that we give all year,
- 49:54Speaker 14: but you know, essentially just to say, look, this is
- 49:57Speaker 14: an issue that impacts people. You know, we essentially have
- 50:00Speaker 14: you know, we did a study where you know, it
- 50:02Speaker 14: was out there. We call it like a tort tax.
- 50:03Speaker 14: It's like, you know, how much does lawsuit abuse cost
- 50:06Speaker 14: your family? We did one here in West Virginia. It
- 50:08Speaker 14: was about six hundred and sixty two thousand and thirty
- 50:10Speaker 14: five cents a year cost the states over ten thousand
- 50:13Speaker 14: jobs a year. You know, obviously, we've you know, it's
- 50:15Speaker 14: been an issue that the legislature has addressed. You know,
- 50:19Speaker 14: we we've we've made a lot of strides in improving
- 50:22Speaker 14: our state Supreme Court. We got the creation of the
- 50:24Speaker 14: Intermediate Appellate Court. But we still have problems, right, I mean,
- 50:27Speaker 14: our circuit courts are still very bad in a lot
- 50:30Speaker 14: of places, especially here in Kannac County. And you know,
- 50:34Speaker 14: there's just there's certain things to just pop up, right,
- 50:36Speaker 14: I Mean, you see advertising around certain issues. Anytime you
- 50:39Speaker 14: see an ad for a lawsuit, that means those people
- 50:42Speaker 14: are making more money off of those types of lawsuits
- 50:45Speaker 14: than what they probably should be, right, I mean, you know,
- 50:48Speaker 14: and so you know, we try to highlight that kind
- 50:51Speaker 14: of stuff. You know, it has a negative impact on jobs,
- 50:55Speaker 14: It has a negative impact on affordable access to affordable
- 50:58Speaker 14: health care. And you know so Citizen Against Lawsuit Abuse
- 51:01Speaker 14: get over twenty thousand members state wide, and we just
- 51:03Speaker 14: continue to talk about the message and highlight the abuses.
- 51:06Speaker 3: To Dave Allen showing five any line brought to you
- 51:08Speaker 3: apart by Husband's Pizza this month that your favorite husbands
- 51:10Speaker 3: get a large eighteen inch Pepperoni pizza and an eight
- 51:12Speaker 3: inch chocolate chip cookie only twenty three ninety nine. Texas
- 51:15Speaker 3: people dog Fox all the time, but notice the stories
- 51:18Speaker 3: you get on there you don't see on ABC, NBCCBS, CNN,
- 51:21Speaker 3: et cetera, et cetera. Shall I go on? Well, one
- 51:23Speaker 3: of the reasons is that I dog Fox News is
- 51:25Speaker 3: because they admitted in court that they weren't a legitimate
- 51:27Speaker 3: news source. They admitted that in the They came out
- 51:30Speaker 3: and said we are entertainment. That's it's court documented. They
- 51:33Speaker 3: said we are not a legitimate news source. I mean,
- 51:35Speaker 3: what do you want? I want to close with this,
- 51:38Speaker 3: because Greg, this is a serious time here. As I've
- 51:42Speaker 3: been saying throughout the show that this is our last
- 51:45Speaker 3: day in this particular studio. I don't know exactly how
- 51:48Speaker 3: many years that things have come out of this studio.
- 51:51Speaker 3: But I mean you think about people like Don Cook
- 51:53Speaker 3: and all these people that have set in this very seat.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Come Monday, we're in a brand new studio. You, Greg Thomas,
- 51:59Speaker 3: the lightning that you are, the bad mofo. You are
- 52:03Speaker 3: the last ever guest in this studio in all those years.
- 52:07Speaker 14: Well it's uh, you know, unexpected that that is the
- 52:10Speaker 14: case for me to walk in here and do this.
- 52:12Speaker 14: But you know, look, I appreciate it. Look, talk radio
- 52:14Speaker 14: is important. It's important for a community. You guys provide
- 52:18Speaker 14: an essential service. You do a very very good job
- 52:20Speaker 14: with it. And look, I think you don't really have
- 52:24Speaker 14: a real community if you don't have this kind of platform.
- 52:26Speaker 14: You guys do it and do it very well.
- 52:28Speaker 3: All right, man, thanks a lot. We didn't even pay
- 52:29Speaker 3: you to say that, all right. Last ever guest was
- 52:32Speaker 3: Greg Thomas. I want that on a plaque. Ryan, Let's
- 52:34Speaker 3: put that out like like almost like employee of the month.
- 52:37Speaker 3: Our last ever guest was Greg Thomas. We gotta go,
- 52:39Speaker 3: hobby coming up, But ten oh six, have a great weekend.
- 52:42Speaker 3: See you Monday in the new studios. Till then, have fun.
