Everything Is Meaningless? Searching for Purpose Under the Sun | Ecclesiastes 1–4
Episode Overview
What is the point of all our striving? In this episode we begin Ecclesiastes with chapters 1 through 4. The Teacher opens with "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity," reflecting honestly on how we work, gather, and then die, leaving everything behind. Nothing seems new under the sun.
He experiments with pleasure, wisdom, and great projects, and finds them hollow on their own. Yet Ecclesiastes is not pure despair: there are real gifts in food, drink, and meaningful work, a time for everything, and a steady call to fear God with the future we cannot control.
