Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really nice.
• 4:23
  Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: I rebuilt the whole front end here a couple months ago, all new components so the suicide hood like you're talking about now, is that a kit or did you design all that?

Speaker 2: What kind of Mustang you got.
• 5:05
  Speaker 2: It's 84 GT convertible.
• 5:08
  Speaker 1: Yeehaw.

Speaker 1: Well, very good, this is very nice.
• 5:20
Speaker 1: I love the color of it.
• 5:21
Speaker 1: I saw it earlier in the day when the sun was trying to come out.
• 5:24
Speaker 1: It looked really sharp.
• 5:25
Speaker 1: I mean it shines nice, oh yeah.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: Appreciate it so yeah, well, I want to thank you again for taking the time to talk to us and share your story about your truck.

• 5:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, hope you enjoyed the rest of the tour and we will see you someplace along the way Yep sounds good, thank you again.
• 6:07
  Speaker 1: Howdy ho folks.
• 6:07
Speaker 1: We're still out here at the Hot Rod Tour of Texas in Victoria, texas.
• 6:11
Speaker 1: We're still down here on the town square where they've got the celebration going on with the city 200 years old.
• 6:16
Speaker 1: The symphony's out here at 60 years old and, of course, the Hot Rod Tour of Texas is here.
• 6:21
Speaker 1: A lot of things going on out here.
• 6:24
Speaker 1: The Hot Rod Tour of Texas is here, a lot of things going on out here and a lot of really cool cars, like this 32 Ford that Mike Wilson has brought with him and he's going to give us a quick tour.
• 6:32
Speaker 4: Okay, I'll be glad to.
• 6:34
  Speaker 4: So it's a 32 Ford Roadster.
• 6:37
  Speaker 4: It's fiberglass body.
• 6:39
Speaker 4: This is a 1958 392 Hemi out of an Imperial.
• 6:44
Speaker 4: It dynoed at 750 when we had it out before the second build Straight axle car.
• 7:01
Speaker 4: I'll be glad you won't see the interior.
• 7:05
Speaker 1: Is it two 650 Hollys?
• 7:05
Speaker 1: You said it was 392?
• 7:07
  Speaker 1: .
• 7:07
  Speaker 4: It's a 392, 30 over right at 400 cube and it died on a 750.
• 7:12
Speaker 4: It's kind of old school hot rod, you don't?
• 7:14
Speaker 1: see a lot of 390 tools anymore.
• 7:16
Speaker 4: It is old school as a matter of fact, old school.
• 7:18
Speaker 4: This is an Ed Pink blower.
• 7:20
Speaker 4: Guys who knew old stuff know it's an Ed Pink.
• 7:24
Speaker 4: It's what this EP is for Ed Pink Blower.
• 7:27
Speaker 4: Ed Pink used to build motors and he did a blower too.
• 7:32
Speaker 1: In HRA he used to build the big monster motors, exactly.
• 7:34
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, so it's all ceramic coated.
• 7:39
Speaker 4: I tried to run it with just the Donovan valve covers as they came, but even water would stain it Really.
• 7:50
Speaker 4: So enough of that.
• 7:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, so I had it ceramic coated.
• 7:53
Speaker 4: It works a lot better.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: How long have you had it?
• 7:58
  Speaker 1: Ten years.
• 8:01
  Speaker 4: Ten years.
• 8:01
Speaker 4: Yup Spent a year in my garage finishing the wells on the frame.
• 8:07
Speaker 4: I actually got it from an old-time hot rodder in San Antonio, pitt Carlisle, but he was going to do something different with it than I wanted to, so I got it.
• 8:22
Speaker 1: So it was kind of a project car when you got it Exactly and Bob Fodge built it.
• 8:24
Speaker 4: So it was kind of a project car when you got it Exactly and Bob Fodge built it.
• 8:28
Speaker 4: Bob Fodge is a notorious Hemi builder.
• 8:32
Speaker 4: He does great fabrication work, so he fabricated the car and Mike Ellis painted it out of San Antonio.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: So you're from San Antonio.
• 8:45
  Speaker 4: I am.
• 8:45
Speaker 4: Nice little drive over here then.
• 8:47
  Speaker 4: So the interior.
• 8:50
Speaker 4: I've seen a lot of roasters that had leather all around.
• 8:57
  Speaker 1: Yes.
• 8:58
Speaker 4: And I just didn't feel like that fit this car, knowing what I was gonna do with it.
• 9:02
Speaker 4: So I kept it in an industrial kind of look and it is, but it fits.
• 9:11
Speaker 4: It don't wear fits the nostalgia for you, but I used to run the double-a street roadsters and the 60s.
• 9:21
Speaker 1: I was looking earlier at your tires here.
• 9:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, cheater slicks yeah, I didn't know if that's what they still called them or not.
• 9:28
Speaker 4: Well, that's what I call them.
• 9:29
Speaker 4: I grew up at that age.
• 9:31
Speaker 4: It's got two grooves.
• 9:32
Speaker 4: It's a cheater slick for its worth of something Right.
• 9:35
Speaker 1: Makes it a little more streetable?
• 9:38
Speaker 4: Yeah, a little bit, but when it's wet, it's wet, it doesn't matter.
• 9:42
Speaker 1: It's not going to help you at all, so the.
• 9:46
Speaker 4: Is this your car?
• 9:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, how much horsepower does it have?
• 9:51
  Speaker 4: 750.
• 9:53
Speaker 4: So this is Mike Ellis, and I designed this beast piece because the license plate says a beast.
• 10:02
Speaker 4: When you turn the ignition on, it drops down here.
• 10:07
Speaker 4: I'll show you If you'll take a shot right there.
• 10:09
Speaker 4: Uh wait, let me turn the battery off.
• 10:15
  Speaker 4: It's a hot rod man.
• 10:19
Speaker 4: Well, I try to keep it shut down so it doesn't wander off.
• 10:33
Speaker 2: What gen is that motor?
• 10:35
  Speaker 2: 58.
• 10:39
Speaker 1: Is that out of the New Yorkers?
• 10:41
  Speaker 5: Imperial.
• 10:44
Speaker 1: Now that is awesome.
• 10:45
Speaker 1: That license plate drops down when he goes to start the car, otherwise it pulls up Out of sight.
• 10:50
Speaker 1: Sight out of mind.
• 10:50
Speaker 1: Nobody's going to grab it.
• 10:52
Speaker 1: That is really, really cool.
• 10:54
Speaker 1: Got the on off switch on the battery so you don't have to worry about that too much.
• 11:00
Speaker 4: No, no it uh.
• 11:02
Speaker 4: I keep it locked up where nobody can get to it just in case.
• 11:09
Speaker 1: Just in case I understand, sounded pretty good when you came by earlier.
• 11:15
Speaker 4: It is, it's healthy.
• 11:17
Speaker 1: What kind of rear end you got under it, pardon me the rear end.
• 11:21
  Speaker 4: It's a 9S Ford.
• 11:22
Speaker 4: It has a spool in it so it locks up pretty quick.
• 11:26
  Speaker 4: It's a turbo, 400, 3 speed.
• 11:44
Speaker 1: I love the black on the body and I know you said it was glass, but even some glass cars not everybody can wear black.
• 11:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right, it needs to be really straight.
• 11:55
Speaker 4: It's got to be straight, but Mike Ellis is such a superior painter, he made sure it was right before we put any paint on it.
• 12:05
Speaker 1: And you drove it from San Antonio.
• 12:07
  Speaker 4: Yes.
• 12:07
Speaker 4: Is that an hour and a half, two hours maybe?
• 12:10
  Speaker 4: Yep, almost two.
• 12:11
  Speaker 4: How does it?
• 12:14
Speaker 1: drive Good Enough weight out of the engine to keep that straight front axle down.
• 12:19
Speaker 4: It does keep the nose down, that's for sure.
• 12:21
Speaker 4: I mean you're talking about a thousand pounds up front.
• 12:24
Speaker 4: The car only weighs 2,200 as it is.
• 12:29
Speaker 1: Well, I can imagine just going down the highway at highway speeds, that it could get light up front if you didn't have that extra weight.
• 12:37
Speaker 4: It rides really good straight.
• 12:39
Speaker 1: Different yeah it rides really good.
• 12:43
Speaker 1: We're good, glad to hear it.
• 12:45
Speaker 1: That's what they're made for is to drive.
• 12:47
Speaker 1: You're going all the way through to Shiner, then on up to New Brunswick and Fredericksburg.
• 12:55
Speaker 4: We're here for the whole trip.
• 12:57
  Speaker 1: Very good.
• 12:58
Speaker 4: I had it measured out at a little over 400 for San Antonio, but it may be closer to 500 by the time we get through.
• 13:05
  Speaker 4: I don't know.
• 13:06
Speaker 1: Well, as long as it's street drivable, you're in good shape.
• 13:10
  Speaker 1: I am, I am, I am.
• 13:11
Speaker 1: So I want to thank you again for taking the time, Mike, to tell us about your 32 Ford 392 Hemi straight front axle.
• 13:19
Speaker 1: This is a hot rod.
• 13:21
Speaker 4: It is a hot rod.
• 13:22
Speaker 1: And it is on the Hot Rod Tour of Texas.
• 13:24
Speaker 4: I can say one thing about it that you can't hardly find guys that will say this I wouldn't change a thing about it After I've had it for eight years.
• 13:32
  Speaker 4: I wouldn't change a thing about it.
• 13:35
Speaker 1: Most guys say well, the next one I build.
• 13:37
Speaker 4: I'm going to change.
• 13:38
  Speaker 4: I know.
• 13:39
Speaker 1: That's great Good for you I had envisioned.

  Speaker 5: Jeremy's right there.
• 16:57
Speaker 3: No, but you know all about this.
• 17:00
  Speaker 5: This is Jeremy's F100.
• 17:01
Speaker 5: It's got a Crown Victoria suspension underneath it and his son's foot hanging out the driver's window, and then beside that we've got my 1959 Edsel Ranger kind of dressed up like a police car.
• 17:13
Speaker 5: That one's on a 2000 Lincoln town car.
• 17:16
Speaker 5: Everything underneath it is a 2000 Lincoln town car, including the dash clusters out of the 2000 Lincoln and what about the motor in that?
• 17:23
  Speaker 5: Same thing.
• 17:23
Speaker 5: All 2000 Lincoln, even the fuel tank, everything.
• 17:26
Speaker 5: And that one we decorated with the Texas flag on the roof.
• 17:29
Speaker 5: And what about my Shelby GT500?
• 17:32
Speaker 5: That is Fidel's, that is our IT guy who's got the 500 in it.
• 17:35
Speaker 5: That is a sweet little car, yeah, I can tell.
• 17:37
  Speaker 5: And there's a daily driver.
• 17:38
  Speaker 5: No-transcript.
• 17:48
Speaker 5: And you like to rub it in, don't you?
• 17:50
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it's kind of a variety.
• 17:52
Speaker 5: We've got some old junk and Fidel's got the real nice shiny car.
• 17:57
  Speaker 3: It's all good.
• 17:59
Speaker 3: That's what this is all about.
• 18:00
Speaker 5: It is so how's it going?
• 18:01
Speaker 3: Here we are on a Friday night, we're at Samson's Performance up here right outside of San Antonio, and it seems to me like this is the smoothest it's ever been.
• 18:11
  Speaker 5: It is.
• 18:11
  Speaker 5: It's a happening place.
• 18:13
Speaker 5: You know I think this is long-term friends of ours.
• 18:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, we love coming over here.
• 18:16
Speaker 3: I think one of the greatest things was the police escorts.
• 18:19
Speaker 3: Oh, fantastic was the police escorts and the police in all the little cities that we went through, stopping traffic and letting us go through.
• 18:24
  Speaker 3: Yes, yes, absolutely.
• 18:26
Speaker 5: It makes it much smoother and the little town of Moulton and Yoakum all the kids on the side.
• 18:30
Speaker 5: Yeah, Moulton won this year.
• 18:33
