- 2:17Speaker 1: other special things going on, and one special thing that
- 2:19Speaker 1: I like to do that's an extra that happens, but
- 2:22Speaker 1: it's only in the video version. Sorry, audio heads, but
- 2:26Speaker 1: this one's only in the video version. Let me know
- 2:28Speaker 1: if you want me to just make audio versions, I
- 2:30Speaker 1: could just do it, but tail up the tapes. If
- 2:34Speaker 1: you're watching the video version, you can kind of see
- 2:36Speaker 1: it behind me. I have some concepts that I kept
- 2:39Speaker 1: for I mean since the early nineties. Honestly just kept
- 2:46Speaker 1: them and really wasn't trying to like keep them to
- 2:50Speaker 1: preserve them. I just had them both throughout these years.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And you know when I had you know, houses or whatever.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I used to have house and b more have a
- 3:00Speaker 1: house in Jersey now you know, just kind of sat
- 3:03Speaker 1: in the garage or sat in the basement, and you know, I.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Had to pull them joints out. But what I started.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Doing was a series that basically talks about, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: when this project or this album or this single came out.
- 3:18Speaker 1: You know, what were my thoughts when I first heard
- 3:20Speaker 1: the music, when I went and bought the CD or
- 3:23Speaker 1: the I mean cassette. So it's really like a nostalgia trip,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but also a little information behind it quick two minute
- 3:32Speaker 1: or less segments. The latest episode I did was on
- 3:38Speaker 1: Smith and weston Black Moons or boot Camp clicks Heads
- 3:41Speaker 1: and Ready single which you could kind of see behind
- 3:44Speaker 1: me if you look really close. At the top is
- 3:46Speaker 1: the yellow tape with the red writing. Just records that
- 3:52Speaker 1: you know I bought back then as a hip hop head,
- 3:54Speaker 1: before we had streaming services where you would just go
- 3:58Speaker 1: and look for artists who was new, or go look
- 4:01Speaker 1: for that song. You know, you had to go to
- 4:04Speaker 1: the record store back then, and me, I lived in
- 4:07Speaker 1: the record store. I didn't care if I had five
- 4:09Speaker 1: dollars on me.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I was leaving with something.
- 4:12Speaker 1: What Danzel said, I'm leaving with some Okay, not stealing,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I'm just I'm just saying I had to have new
- 4:22Speaker 1: music like it was oxygen. So there you have to
- 4:27Speaker 1: check that out. That's on the channel. Subscribe to the
- 4:29Speaker 1: channel trying to get the five under subscribers. Today we
- 4:34Speaker 1: are doing a bonus kind of episode when the news
- 4:37Speaker 1: week is kind of slow as it relates to music
- 4:40Speaker 1: and interesting topics. Sometimes we gotta go in that bag
- 4:44Speaker 1: and look and see. But what else is interesting about
- 4:47Speaker 1: hip hop? If you are on social media, in particular
- 4:52Speaker 1: hip hop Twitter, because we don't recognize the X unless
- 4:56Speaker 1: it's Malcolm okay, But on hip hop Twitter and other
- 5:02Speaker 1: social media sites, you know, hip hop heads constantly talk
- 5:07Speaker 1: about you know, top five, this, top five that.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Who's the lyricist, who is it, who's the best? Now?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Who is it? Who won Drake or Kendrick?
- 5:16Speaker 1: Right, we just constantly talk about list and other hip
- 5:20Speaker 1: hop topics, which is cool to me because let's not
- 5:25Speaker 1: pretend like debates didn't always exist in hip hop, right,
- 5:30Speaker 1: they didn't dominate.
- 5:31Speaker 2: You know, a new release and what you felt about it.
- 5:34Speaker 1: But a lot of times you always talked about who
- 5:36Speaker 1: you like, who's the best out of NWA. You know
- 5:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Who your favorite artist is in the group.
- 5:43Speaker 1: You know which one of the albums is the best
- 5:45Speaker 1: in their catalog, stuff like that.
- 5:47Speaker 2: So as we continue to talk hip hop.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Which is dope on social media, there were things that
- 5:55Speaker 1: used to bother me. Right at first, there was classic right.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Everybody was calling everything a classic right. So I did
- 6:03Speaker 1: a whole episode on that. Then there were lyricists. Everybody
- 6:07Speaker 1: was trying to define what a lyricist was and who
- 6:10Speaker 1: was and who wasn't in this and that. So I
- 6:12Speaker 1: did an episode on that.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Goat.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Everybody was trying to define you know, who's the goat?
- 6:20Speaker 1: So he's one of my goats and blah blah blah.
- 6:22Speaker 1: And I did an episode on who is the goat?
- 6:27Speaker 2: I'm pausing for dramatic effect. You know who it is?
- 6:31Speaker 1: Uncle al l cool J stopped playing with me. I
- 6:36Speaker 1: did a whole episode on it. And it wasn't necessarily
- 6:39Speaker 1: about you know, how many hits or whether he's better
- 6:43Speaker 1: than jay Z or Nas or whatever. Lyrically, It's about
- 6:47Speaker 1: the totality of what he brought to the hip hop.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Game and continues to bring to the hip.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Hop game, even though NAS is gaining on him, Because
- 6:57Speaker 1: come on, man, six Dope project and you're about to
- 7:00Speaker 1: turn fifty. That's crazy. Okay, it's crazy talk. We've never
- 7:04Speaker 1: seen that before. But nevertheless, you know it was really
- 7:07Speaker 1: those episodes were about breaking down, literally in detail, breaking
- 7:14Speaker 1: down what those terms mean in hip hop and examples
- 7:24Speaker 1: of who you know who best exudes that term, whether
- 7:28Speaker 1: what album best means classic?
- 7:31Speaker 2: Right? Illmatic is a classic? Right?
- 7:34Speaker 1: And then we break down what a classic is. You
- 7:37Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, L COOLJ is the go or
- 7:40Speaker 1: you could say, ay go, I'm cool with that. I
- 7:42Speaker 1: don't care, But I break down why I say that.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying lyricists, I break down what
- 7:51Speaker 1: that means and who is an example of that. So today,
- 7:55Speaker 1: with all that being said, we're gonna talk about bonds
- 7:59Speaker 1: because cause, honestly, yeah, you know I'm preaching today, give
- 8:04Speaker 1: me give me some minute, give me give me a time, Okay,
- 8:07Speaker 1: give me some time. Honestly, when it comes to bars,
- 8:13Speaker 1: there are people and I'm not just saying old heads
- 8:16Speaker 1: versus new heads, casuals versus hardcore. I'm just talking about
- 8:20Speaker 1: music fans, in particular hip hop fans. There are bars
- 8:27Speaker 1: that go over people's heads, and there are bars that
- 8:31Speaker 1: people get right away, and there's such thing as just
- 8:35Speaker 1: too many bars to the point where you're bored to death.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And there are MC's artists, rappers, whatever you want to
- 8:43Speaker 1: call them, who have zero bars. But first let's start
- 8:48Speaker 1: with what are bars?
- 8:51Speaker 2: Right? Not everybody else.
- 8:52Speaker 1: They hear it all the time, but they're like, yeah,
- 8:54Speaker 1: I didn't, don't they rap good? Like they don't really
- 8:57Speaker 1: know the context or whatever that means. So from dictionary
- 9:02Speaker 1: dot com by way of Urbandctionary dot com, this is
- 9:06Speaker 1: what they said regarding bars. As hip hop grew in
- 9:11Speaker 1: the nineteen nineties and two thousands, artists and their fans
- 9:16Speaker 1: came to use bars for lyrics in general. Urban Dictionary
- 9:21Speaker 1: first into the term in two thousand and three. In
- 9:25Speaker 1: the two thousands, bars became well established as a term
- 9:30Speaker 1: for the rhymes artists freestyle in rap battles and slam poetry.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I don't know if that means. That sounds like AI
- 9:38Speaker 1: poetry with spectators even shouting bars. Now for me to
- 9:44Speaker 1: just break it down to you. What bars has always
- 9:48Speaker 1: meant to me as a hip hop head day one.
- 9:52Speaker 1: It's about lyricism. It's not about just a great song.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It's about lyrics. It's about what you say and how
- 10:01Speaker 1: you say it. It's about discovery for the listener, right,
- 10:07Speaker 1: not only discovery within the topic that may be in
- 10:11Speaker 1: a bar, but discovery within figuring out what they just said.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Right. I'll give you an example.
- 10:22Speaker 1: The first time I heard jay Z say on Brooklyn's Finest,
- 10:27Speaker 1: like short sleeves, I bare arms, I was like, that's crazy.
- 10:34Speaker 1: That's a bar for those who don't know, Like, damn,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I still don't. I still don't know what you mean. Well,
- 10:41Speaker 1: like short sleeves, right, so you have a short sleeve,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I bear arms, Right, So my sleeves are short and
- 10:48Speaker 1: my arms are bare. There's nothing covering it because it's
- 10:51Speaker 1: a short sleeve, so half of my arm is showing. Right,
- 10:55Speaker 1: So you get the short sleeves, I bear arms, But
- 10:58Speaker 1: bare arms also means I'm carrying a gun.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Okay, So you see. It's the double N tendre.
- 11:06Speaker 1: It's the when you first hear it, whether you get
- 11:10Speaker 1: it right then and there or later you're like, yo,
- 11:12Speaker 1: what he say. Those those are examples of when people
- 11:18Speaker 1: shall bars, like this definition or this description says, that's
- 11:24Speaker 1: what they're talking about. Those kinds of lines that you're like, oh,
- 11:29Speaker 1: they're thoughtful, right, they require some thinking on the part
- 11:36Speaker 1: of the listener, right, some comprehension on the part of
- 11:40Speaker 1: the listener. It's not just toe tap in two step,
- 11:45Speaker 1: you know, because I'm saying, it's not just I'm saying
- 11:48Speaker 1: something you you know you agree with. It's really deeper
- 11:53Speaker 1: than that, you know what I'm saying. It's much deeper
- 11:56Speaker 1: than what you're hearing on the surface. And that's why
- 12:00Speaker 1: hip hop heads love bars. Now another the term bar
- 12:07Speaker 1: also comes from when you're breaking down lyrics or like
- 12:12Speaker 1: this said, slam poetry and poetry. Right, one line is
- 12:16Speaker 1: considered a bar.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:18Speaker 1: When you're writing poetry, that's one line. A series of
- 12:21Speaker 1: lines is called the stanza. But bars are the lines, right,
- 12:28Speaker 1: So like short sleeves, I bare arms, that's one bar.
- 12:33Speaker 1: It's just that that term, which was the original term,
- 12:37Speaker 1: became a term of endearment for people who were skilled
- 12:42Speaker 1: at bars. So everybody's writing bars, right, But the terminology
- 12:50Speaker 1: that everybody you know in hip hop uses, including me
- 12:54Speaker 1: on this show anytimes, some random bars just you know,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I can't help it. Sometimes with random bars just come
- 12:59Speaker 1: out of no with that just comes from people just
- 13:06Speaker 1: basically taking note that you dropped the dope line right now?
- 13:11Speaker 2: Does everybody have.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Bars in the sense in the way we mean right
- 13:17Speaker 1: the term of endearment?
- 13:19Speaker 2: No, they just don't. Does that make them whack? No?
- 13:25Speaker 1: I don't think DMX ever said anything that I had
- 13:30Speaker 1: to figure out, like, you know, whether it was two
- 13:34Speaker 1: seconds or later down the line, like what he said
- 13:36Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah. Right, But DMX to me
- 13:41Speaker 1: was more about his flow, his conviction and what he said.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So everything he said to me was relatable, right, And
- 13:51Speaker 1: it's and some people say bars when they like something
- 13:54Speaker 1: a lot. They don't have to be deep and intricate.
- 13:56Speaker 1: They'll just say bars. But lyrically, when we're talking about bars,
- 14:01Speaker 1: we're talking about technique, right, and not the most basic technique.
- 14:08Speaker 1: We're talking about levels of depth within your lines, you know,
- 14:13Speaker 1: not just relatable. A lot of rappers rap about things
- 14:16Speaker 1: that all rappers rap about something that's relatable. All mcs
- 14:20Speaker 1: rap about something that's relatable. But it's how you do it,
- 14:25Speaker 1: you know, the depth in which you take that. You know,
- 14:28Speaker 1: there's a jay Z could have easily said, you know
- 14:31Speaker 1: what I'm saying, I bare arms, you know, because I
- 14:35Speaker 1: got a gun on me. He could have said something
- 14:37Speaker 1: very simplistic. But that's not Bars. You know, Bars is
- 14:44Speaker 1: taking it a step further to express the same thought, right,
- 14:49Speaker 1: adding a little bit more depth.
- 14:51Speaker 2: To the same thought. And I think, honestly, the.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Debate that you may see when people are arguing over
- 15:00Speaker 1: who's the lyricists and who isn't based off of Bars.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It's just the simple fact that nobody wants to leave
- 15:07Speaker 1: anybody out. They feel like, if you don't call a
- 15:09Speaker 1: person this, you know, then you're saying they're not that good.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Because lyricists and people who are considered to have BARS
- 15:21Speaker 1: generally are looked at as an elite level of m seeing.
- 15:26Speaker 1: But it's true, it doesn't take away from the songwriters.
- 15:30Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I think Tupac is one
- 15:32Speaker 1: of the greatest rappers of all time. But Tupac has
- 15:36Speaker 1: said a lot of things that I could relate to
- 15:39Speaker 1: as a man that make me feel like he is
- 15:43Speaker 1: top ten for me. When you're talking about greatest rappers
- 15:46Speaker 1: of all time. Tupac's in't it. You can't disregards the
- 15:51Speaker 1: music and the impact. But I think there's a difference
- 15:57Speaker 1: between somebody who says something you will agree with versus
- 16:01Speaker 1: somebody who says something that you think about it for
- 16:04Speaker 1: men and be like, yo, he said this, but that,
- 16:06Speaker 1: but this and this, and it also means this, and
- 16:08Speaker 1: it also means that, and the way he said it
- 16:11Speaker 1: and the way he started right there, like that's just
- 16:15Speaker 1: never happened when I'm listening to Tupac, right, So there's
- 16:19Speaker 1: a difference. Doesn't take anything away from Tupac, because guess what,
- 16:22Speaker 1: there's plenty of dudes who will rapidly rap you to
- 16:24Speaker 1: death with bars and can't write a song to save
- 16:29Speaker 1: day life. And Tupac can write a song in his sleep.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Hits anthems, he could write those in his sleep. So
- 16:39Speaker 1: with that being said, let's talk about who I think
- 16:45Speaker 1: I think are the top five spinners today. Spinners I
- 16:51Speaker 1: mean bars like you listen to them because their bars
- 16:57Speaker 1: are so potent with skill and tech, unique in thought
- 17:02Speaker 1: that it feeds the hip hop soul. Now again, there's
- 17:08Speaker 1: some of my favorites, my two favorite rappers today MC's
- 17:14Speaker 1: today are not on this list. It's not because they
- 17:18Speaker 1: don't have bars. It's just because we talking about elite
- 17:23Speaker 1: writing skill level on the levels. Okay, that's what we're
- 17:30Speaker 1: talking about, so trust me, I'm not leaving anybody out.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And honestly, if you really only name it five, I
- 17:38Speaker 1: can name about twenty if we want to be real.
- 17:41Speaker 1: But this list is not only based off of their
- 17:45Speaker 1: level of writing and skill. Also, you know, obviously in
- 17:51Speaker 1: some ways is related on what they've been releasing. But
- 17:54Speaker 1: I feel like every time I hear these dudes rap,
- 17:57Speaker 1: from the day they came out to today, I feel like, Wow,
- 18:03Speaker 1: these dudes rapping on another level, Like they just rapping
- 18:07Speaker 1: on another level of thought. Like as a person, as
- 18:10Speaker 1: an MC, I know the thought process it takes not
- 18:15Speaker 1: only to make it make sense, but to give your
- 18:19Speaker 1: bars certain levels.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Here's my tip. Five spiders today in no order. Ransom.
- 18:29Speaker 2: If you listen to Ransom, you already know what I'm
- 18:32Speaker 2: talking about.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Ransom is a dude you cannot daydream when he's rapping.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You're gonna miss something. You can't even take a break
- 18:44Speaker 1: and be like, what was that? You're gonna miss something?
- 18:49Speaker 1: This dude does not waste space in his rhymes whatsoever.
- 18:55Speaker 1: He is a true technician when it comes to bars.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Everything he does is layered. Everything he does has meaning.
- 19:05Speaker 1: You feel me, He's never really just saying it to
- 19:10Speaker 1: say and if it feels that way, it's probably leading
- 19:14Speaker 1: you into some crazy bars. So Ransom definitely if you've
- 19:20Speaker 1: never checked out any of his music, he got a
- 19:22Speaker 1: lot of dope music that's come out in recent years.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Pick one, it's.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Really that dope, okay. Uh Royce the five to nine,
- 19:33Speaker 1: he hasn't released an album in a little bit. I
- 19:35Speaker 1: don't care anytime that brother touched the mic. He's another
- 19:43Speaker 1: one where I'm like, damn, that's a lot of focus.
- 19:48Speaker 1: You gotta be focused to rap like that Allegory album
- 19:53Speaker 1: was crazy. The album before that that I can't remember
- 19:57Speaker 1: the title because I haven't heard it in a little while,
- 19:59Speaker 1: but that means nothing, not rant. So Royster five to
- 20:03Speaker 1: nine is what you guys will say, we don't play
- 20:08Speaker 1: Eminem in the hood. He's the guy you should be
- 20:10Speaker 1: listening to. He is the black version, so loosely, but
- 20:16Speaker 1: the black version of Eminem. But I think he's you
- 20:18Speaker 1: can't even say that now. At one point I kind
- 20:21Speaker 1: of felt that way, right, Like as far as technique
- 20:25Speaker 1: he was, him and Eminem were a lot alike. But
- 20:28Speaker 1: I think in recent years he's become even better than that.
- 20:32Speaker 1: He's better than Eminem if you ask me. And he
- 20:36Speaker 1: has the same attention to detail and technique and layered
- 20:42Speaker 1: and like catchy lines and tongue in cheek lines. You
- 20:46Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, like wink wink type bars. But
- 20:51Speaker 1: it's just crazy and honestly saying this about all father
- 20:57Speaker 1: people in this list. I admire that so much as
- 21:01Speaker 1: an MC because again, you know what it's like, sit
- 21:05Speaker 1: there and write rhymes or some of you magical negroes.
- 21:09Speaker 1: You know, I don't write, okay, whatever I do, okay,
- 21:14Speaker 1: but it's it's just it's honorable to listen to somebody
- 21:19Speaker 1: who pays that closer attention to what they say, how
- 21:24Speaker 1: they say it, how everything comes together. So forst five
- 21:28Speaker 1: to nine, next Conway, the Machine, Okay, I don't know,
- 21:33Speaker 1: but sometimes.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I'm like, this dude getting better.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Whatever you may think about certain projects not hitting right,
- 21:39Speaker 1: it's the beats. Because if a damn show ain't is
- 21:42Speaker 1: rapping whatever, way like he just dropped this year's slant
- 21:48Speaker 1: face killer. I thought it was going to be crazy.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It was kind of a letdown in some ways, but
- 21:54Speaker 1: I never felt like lyrically he lost the step. I
- 21:58Speaker 1: felt like he was even better than he had been.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You know, some people may not like the production. That's
- 22:04Speaker 1: kind of what honestly, that's kind of what it is
- 22:07Speaker 1: to be totally honest. It's almost as if they need
- 22:12Speaker 1: some new production to rap over to make it appear
- 22:16Speaker 1: like things are different. But when it comes to his pen,
- 22:20Speaker 1: crazy right, crazy the again, the attention to detail, the
- 22:26Speaker 1: patterns in which he puts the words together. Right, Most
- 22:30Speaker 1: people when they think about bars, they think about, say
- 22:34Speaker 1: some lines to the word that rhyme's bars at the end,
- 22:39Speaker 1: right da da da da bars d d D cars.
- 22:45Speaker 1: But when you like I'm in Borah before like dog,
- 22:49Speaker 1: that's words that are rhyming all throughout the bars.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Now is that unique to Conway the machine now?
- 22:58Speaker 1: But he does it so well and it always sounds dope,
- 23:02Speaker 1: So that's him. Two more thirty eight specih. Now, some
- 23:08Speaker 1: people who know me may be surprised because they know
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm not the biggest fan, But it doesn't have anything
- 23:16Speaker 1: to do with his pen. That dude is nice. That
- 23:21Speaker 1: dude is dead nice. Okay, why I'm not the biggest fan.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I think kind of don't like his voice, but over
- 23:28Speaker 1: certain tracks I kind of mess with it. So they have,
- 23:32Speaker 1: especially again especially over this feature on grass album Like
- 23:37Speaker 1: My God, thirty eight Speci is special.
- 23:42Speaker 2: That dude could rap. He is nice in a way
- 23:47Speaker 2: that shows that.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Again, the lyrics may be hardcore, gangster, whatever you want
- 23:54Speaker 1: to call it, but there's a lot of cleverness to
- 23:57Speaker 1: what he says, right, imagine fabulous just a little bit
- 24:03Speaker 1: more hardcore with what he says right, a little bit
- 24:07Speaker 1: more street not saying fabulous? Is it fabulous?
- 24:10Speaker 2: Is more?
- 24:11Speaker 1: You know, he's more flamboyant most of the time. Thirty
- 24:14Speaker 1: eight specialists gutter without really needing to gruff up his
- 24:19Speaker 1: voice or whatever to sound gutter. Right, He sound the
- 24:23Speaker 1: way he sound. But the bars are potent. He just
- 24:27Speaker 1: released a new project, maybe like a week ago. That's
- 24:32Speaker 1: pretty dope, right, and again the bars are on display
- 24:37Speaker 1: and the last spit of on my lists. Some of
- 24:40Speaker 1: you may know, but many don't, and I think you should.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I am God. Look let me tell you something, man,
- 24:49Speaker 1: All of that that I said about each of these
- 24:52Speaker 1: other MC's he does that. He doesn't waste words, he
- 24:58Speaker 1: doesn't waste bars. Everything he says is detailed and potent.
- 25:05Speaker 1: And again, when you understand the magnitude of focus it
- 25:13Speaker 1: takes to make sure each bar is potent. In that way,
- 25:21Speaker 1: you're rapping on a different level. Now, it's not easy
- 25:25Speaker 1: to make songs. It's not easy to be a rap
- 25:28Speaker 1: or an MC at all. But there's a basic way
- 25:33Speaker 1: to do it. Well, you just say some cool stuff,
- 25:36Speaker 1: or you say something somebody agrees with or can relate to.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Right me, I've always used a lot of cliches in
- 25:43Speaker 1: my ROMs, right because people recognize stuff like that, and
- 25:47Speaker 1: I'll throw, you know, a couple of lines, a couple
- 25:49Speaker 1: of bars, a couple of deep things within it. I
- 25:52Speaker 1: am God is a technician of the highest level.
- 25:57Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Mass Appeal or somebody else don't scoop this brother up
- 26:02Speaker 1: out of shy town, because when I listen to him,
- 26:07Speaker 1: when you hear people say pen game, that's what we
- 26:10Speaker 1: mean with all of these spitters on this list, that's
- 26:15Speaker 1: what we mean. We mean. Okay, I'm gonna listen to
- 26:19Speaker 1: such and such and that's like fast food.
- 26:22Speaker 2: It's cool like, I like Drake. Don't get it twisted.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I'm a big I'm a bigger Kendrick fan, but I
- 26:28Speaker 1: like Drake and I like when he raps. Not this
- 26:31Speaker 1: new you know, I'm taking Migo style rap. I'm talking about,
- 26:34Speaker 1: you know, zero to one hundred Drake. I like when
- 26:36Speaker 1: he raps.
- 26:37Speaker 2: It's cool.
- 26:39Speaker 1: But these guys are named on a different level. Right,
- 26:45Speaker 1: Drake can say some cool lines. These guys can say
- 26:48Speaker 1: some cool lines, but they also mean seven other things
- 26:51Speaker 1: as you're listening. That's what we mean by spitters. Now again,
- 26:56Speaker 1: to wrap it all up, I'm not saying that having
- 27:00Speaker 1: bars on this level means you are better than everybody else. No,
- 27:05Speaker 1: I'm not saying as a listener that should be your
- 27:08Speaker 1: preference if you want to be known as a hip
- 27:11Speaker 1: hop head. I'm not saying that at all, because my
- 27:13Speaker 1: music collection has all of them in it. Got bar kings,
- 27:18Speaker 1: you got dudes like Kid Cuddy who you know. I
- 27:22Speaker 1: listen to them, but I'm not there like, yeah, let
- 27:24Speaker 1: me come get these bars. I listen to certain people
- 27:27Speaker 1: for certain vives of music, and when it's time to
- 27:31Speaker 1: listen to somebody who's technically sound with their writing, then
- 27:38Speaker 1: that's when I go to the spitts. That's when I
- 27:40Speaker 1: go to listen for bars. You know what I'm saying,
- 27:44Speaker 1: shout out now again there's a lot of people who
- 27:47Speaker 1: I didn't include on this list, some of my favorites,
- 27:50Speaker 1: but also just so you know, I'm not trying to
- 27:52Speaker 1: be that guy, but shout out to the ladies because
- 27:54Speaker 1: some made be like, yo, we're the ladies that spit
- 27:57Speaker 1: though I'm tired of watching this strip hop stuff at
- 28:01Speaker 1: rapsody chaye nowir just to name a few, you know
- 28:07Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like they spits, okay, they know how
- 28:13Speaker 1: to rap, you know, like rap rap. So there are
- 28:19Speaker 1: people out here that are MC's out here, They are
- 28:21Speaker 1: artists out here. Back with Swede, shout out to her.
- 28:26Speaker 1: There are people out here who can do this on
- 28:31Speaker 1: a level that's just elite when it comes to lyricism
- 28:38Speaker 1: and technique.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Bars. That's gonna do for me.
- 28:43Speaker 1: What do you think about the whole conversation around bars
- 28:48Speaker 1: and who's a spinner and who's not? What are your
