- 1:10Speaker 3: Glad to have you with us here on a Monday.
- 1:14Speaker 3: This portion of the program is brought to you by
- 1:16Speaker 3: Radiant Dentistry. It is Overreaction Monday, and what a weekend
- 1:24Speaker 3: of college football it was. We're going to hear from
- 1:28Speaker 3: Mike Elko. We're going to hear from Aggie receiver Aaron Gregory.
- 1:32Speaker 3: We're going to hear from Josh Heupel, who was part
- 1:36Speaker 3: of the incredible weekend. A & M is probably glad
- 1:41Speaker 3: it flew under the radar this weekend. They did what
- 1:44Speaker 3: they were supposed to do. knocking out the Citadel 41-0.
- 1:49Speaker 3: And now they step up in class at Tuscaloosa on
- 1:56Speaker 3: Saturday afternoon. Alabama will still probably be without their star
- 2:03Speaker 3: wide receiver, Ryan Coleman-Williams. He underwent arthroscopic knee surgery with
- 2:12Speaker 3: a torn meniscus about 10 days ago. also had a
- 2:17Speaker 3: head injury in a helmet-to-helmet hit against Georgia. He's considered week-to-week,
- 2:25Speaker 3: as are we all. The SEC announcing its schedule for
- 2:30Speaker 3: the following Saturday, Halloween, the Aggies are off. Auburn Ole
- 2:38Speaker 3: Miss at 11.45 a.m., These kickoffs are so random sometimes. Florida,
- 2:47Speaker 3: Georgia on ABC at 2.30. At 3.15, South Carolina, Oklahoma
- 2:55Speaker 3: on the SEC Network. At 6.30 on ESPN, Mississippi State
- 3:02Speaker 3: at Texas. And on ESPN Network, I don't know. Oh, no,
- 3:09Speaker 3: I'm sorry, the SEC Network. It is, let's see, Missouri, Arkansas.
- 3:18Speaker 3: And by the way, that is on ESPN. The Texas
- 3:22Speaker 3: game is on ABC against Mississippi State.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Arch Manning struggles at Texas. Continue.
- 3:31Speaker 3: But Steve Sarkeesian saying today Arch will be the starter.
- 3:38Speaker 3: There are reports that backup redshirt freshman KJ Lacey, who
- 3:43Speaker 3: has played very little, will get more reps in practice.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Sark said today, Arch can play better for us. He's
- 3:52Speaker 3: our starter, but I need a better version of Arch Manning. Meanwhile,
- 3:58Speaker 3: Texas is without their best defensive player. Colin Simmons expected
- 4:04Speaker 3: to miss time with a high ankle sprain. He had
- 4:08Speaker 3: an MRI today. He will be on the injury list,
- 4:15Speaker 3: I'm sure, on Wednesday. Anwar Richardson from Orange Bloods is
- 4:19Speaker 3: reporting that running back Hollywood Smothers has an undisclosed injury,
- 4:24Speaker 3: and his status for the game is questionable. Florida State
- 4:28Speaker 3: coach Mike Norvell called the holding penalty that negated a
- 4:33Speaker 3: Hail Mary touchdown in the second overtime against Miami, quote,
- 4:38Speaker 3: an absolute joke. Norvell also questioned why the replay booth
- 4:43Speaker 3: did not discuss simultaneous possession during its review of a
- 4:49Speaker 3: second Hail Mary pass that was ruled an interception. Those
- 4:54Speaker 3: plays cost the Seminoles a chance to tie Miami and
- 4:58Speaker 3: go into a third overtime instead of the 43-35 double
- 5:03Speaker 3: OT loss. Norvell said the holding call was an absolute joke.
- 5:09Speaker 3: You go through the course of that game, same thing
- 5:12Speaker 3: happened a few plays earlier, was not called in that moment,
- 5:15Speaker 3: that play.
- 5:16Speaker 1: It's a shame.
- 5:17Speaker 3: We had to go convert a two-point play, but for
- 5:20Speaker 3: those kids not to be able to finish the game
- 5:22Speaker 3: on the field in that moment, is really disappointing.
- 5:26Speaker 1: That was bad.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I haven't gotten the final response from them, but if
- 5:30Speaker 3: it's anything less than what I said, it tells me
- 5:33Speaker 3: everything I need to know. Norvell, no doubt, will be
- 5:37Speaker 3: fine for his comments and put on double.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Secret probation.
- 5:43Speaker 3: The AP Top 25 poll came out yesterday afternoon. Miami
- 5:51Speaker 3: is the new number one team. BYU up four spots
- 5:55Speaker 3: to number two. No, they're up six spots to number two.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Ohio State is third. Notre Dame fourth. Georgia fifth. Then
- 6:08Speaker 3: Indiana Ole Miss, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Utah. Tennessee is 11. Kentucky,
- 6:20Speaker 3: Alabama is 13. Houston is 14. They go to Utah
- 6:25Speaker 3: this week. LSU is 18.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Texas drops to 19. Florida is 20th.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Missouri 22nd, SMU 23rd. The AP preseason basketball top 25
- 6:46Speaker 3: was released today. I'll do the top 10 for you.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Houston at 10, Virginia at 9, Tennessee 8, Texas 7,
- 7:01Speaker 3: Michigan State, 6. Arizona, 5. UConn, 4. Illinois, 3. Duke, 2.
- 7:09Speaker 3: And Florida, the preseason number one. Texas Tech is sitting
- 7:17Speaker 3: at 19th. Arkansas is 12th. Alabama is 20th. Kentucky, 23.
- 7:26Speaker 3: And Vanderbilt, 24. among the SEC teams. Major League Baseball tonight.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Have you forgotten the playoffs are underway?
- 7:41Speaker 1: My guess is, I don't know.
- 7:42Speaker 3: What the ratings were for Saturday, but my gosh, with
- 7:47Speaker 3: all the college football, I can't imagine they were very good.
- 7:52Speaker 3: The Rays, that's Tampa's team, leads the Guardians, that's the
- 7:57Speaker 3: Indians of Cleveland, Three games to two. The Rays can
- 8:04Speaker 3: get to the World Series tonight with a victory. Freddy
- 8:09Speaker 3: Peralta is on the mound.
- 8:11Speaker 1: He is really good.
- 8:15Speaker 3: That game will start a little after 7 this evening.
- 8:20Speaker 3: And the World Series begins in Milwaukee on Friday. Winner
- 8:27Speaker 3: of Tampa Cleveland will be at Milwaukee on Friday evening. So,
- 8:35Speaker 3: like I said, Major League Baseball is not happy about it.
- 8:39Speaker 3: They wanted the Dodgers so they could have a bargaining
- 8:44Speaker 3: chip saying, see, we need a salary cap because the
- 8:48Speaker 3: Dodgers are dominating baseball. Well, we've got a couple of, quote,
- 8:53Speaker 3: small market teams, actually three of them left. And whoever
- 9:00Speaker 3: wins the American League in Milwaukee, that will mess up
- 9:04Speaker 3: the Major League Baseball argument when they're negotiating for a
- 9:11Speaker 3: new contract with the players. We are going to do
- 9:15Speaker 3: Friday's Fearless and hand out a.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Certificate here in just a minute. We're going to hear
- 9:26Speaker 3: from Mike Elko coming up tomorrow. I will tell you
- 9:30Speaker 3: that we will visit with author Michael Starr. His book
- 9:35Speaker 3: is called Bob Newhart, The Life and Laughter of an
- 9:39Speaker 3: American Treasure. Michael Starr will join us on the program tomorrow.
- 9:46Speaker 1: All right.
- 9:47Speaker 3: We'll take a break.
- 9:49Speaker 1: We'll be back.
- 9:49Speaker 3: This portion of the program is brought to you by
- 9:53Speaker 3: Chad Jones Law.
- 9:55Speaker 7: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 9:58Speaker 7: do injuries from car wrecks. But you didn't sign up
- 10:00Speaker 7: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't
- 10:02Speaker 7: paying attention. It was their fault, and now you're left
- 10:05Speaker 7: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a doctor,

- 10:46Speaker 8: home road. It doesn't matter here on the zone. And
- 10:48Speaker 8: then the call-in show after every A & M home game.
- 10:51Speaker 8: Spend your Aggie Football Saturdays here on the zone.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Friday's fearless football forecast contest is brought to you by
- 11:04Speaker 3: Zwirneman Flooring and Chad Jones Law. We are on to
- 11:10Speaker 3: week number eight.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I'm not kidding.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Our tiebreaker game is in Salt Lake City where the
- 11:21Speaker 3: Utes are hosting the Cougs. Lake Belton at Bryant. Georgetown
- 11:28Speaker 3: at Consolidated. A & M, Alabama. Ole Miss, Texas. LSU, Auburn.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Indiana, Michigan.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Army and Tulsa. The Giants and the Texans. And the
- 11:49Speaker 3: Cowboys and the Eagles. You know, the people in Philadelphia,
- 11:54Speaker 3: did you know they don't like Dallas very much?
- 11:57Speaker 1: Go figure. Ten games.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest. Go online at chiphower.com between
- 12:06Speaker 3: now and 5 o'clock Friday afternoon.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Connor, did we get a hold of the winner?
- 12:13Speaker 3: Would you bring that sheet in there for me real quick? Yeah.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I just want to.
- 12:21Speaker 3: We tried to get a hold of Jimmy Beavers.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I believe Jimmy has won before.
- 12:27Speaker 3: If you know Jimmy, tell him we're talking about him
- 12:31Speaker 3: on the radio.
- 12:32Speaker 1: He went 8-2 in a very.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Difficult week picking games, and he was only three off
- 12:41Speaker 3: the tiebreaker. I think there were only three other people
- 12:45Speaker 3: got eight games this week.
- 12:47Speaker 1: It was not easy. So Jimmy Beavers is the winner.
- 12:51Speaker 3: He's going to get a $ 50 gift certificate to Rudy's Barbecue.
- 12:57Speaker 3: So tell Jimmy that we're talking about him and he's
- 13:01Speaker 3: going to eat well. So congratulations to him for winning
- 13:06Speaker 3: week seven. Thanks to everyone who is playing the feud.
- 13:10Speaker 3: We're on to week eight. Get your picks in between
- 13:13Speaker 3: now and 5 p.m.
- 13:15Speaker 9: Friday.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest, a division of Sports Talk,
- 13:21Speaker 3: America's most loved football pick-em contest, brought to you every
- 13:25Speaker 3: week by Chad Jones Law and Zwirneman Flooring.
- 13:33Speaker 1: So Auburn beats Georgia.
- 13:36Speaker 3: I think Georgia had three turnovers in that game. BYU
- 13:43Speaker 3: beats Notre Dame. CJ Carr had some issues. Miami beat
- 13:56Speaker 3: Florida State in double overtime. Ohio State beat Indiana by
- 14:06Speaker 3: the width of a shoe on the sideline.
- 14:12Speaker 1: By the way, Indiana fumbled twice.
- 14:19Speaker 3: It was their first and second loss fumbles since the
- 14:25Speaker 3: first week of last season. You want to know why
- 14:33Speaker 3: they won 22 straight football games or was it 23
- 14:36Speaker 3: in a row?
- 14:37Speaker 1: Because they don't give up the football.
- 14:43Speaker 3: They gave it up on Saturday and it cost them
- 14:48Speaker 3: the win against Ohio State. Alabama turned it over on
- 14:57Speaker 3: Saturday in Knoxville. and lost to Tennessee. Texas turned it
- 15:05Speaker 3: over for the second week in a row and lost
- 15:09Speaker 3: to Florida.
- 15:12Speaker 1: We're going to hear from Mike Elko here in just
- 15:14Speaker 1: a moment.
- 15:15Speaker 3: I asked him about turnovers because when the margin is
- 15:22Speaker 3: so thin and it's gotten thinner, which is why we had,
- 15:27Speaker 3: I called it Saturday, The greatest day in college football history.
- 15:33Speaker 1: The most exciting. I will stand by that.
- 15:38Speaker 3: I've seen a lot of college football in my years.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Saturday was the wildest. It was unbelievable from start to finish.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Turnovers. Turnovers and transfer portals.
- 15:55Speaker 3: We're going to talk about that with the writers coming
- 15:58Speaker 3: up at 5 o'clock. A & M must, absolutely must,
- 16:08Speaker 3: win the turnover battle in Tuscaloosa to have any chance
- 16:13Speaker 3: on Saturday. A little earlier this afternoon, Coach Elko met
- 16:19Speaker 3: with the media like he does on Mondays, and we
- 16:23Speaker 3: carry it live here on The Zone at 1.30 on Mondays.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I mentioned that a few of you have real jobs.
- 16:31Speaker 3: You can't listen all day, although you should. Here is
- 16:36Speaker 3: part of what Coach Elko had to say this afternoon.
- 16:41Speaker 10: Yeah, wrapping up Saturday, just starting with our players of
- 16:44Speaker 10: the game. Scout team defense was Loyo Velade. He was
- 16:48Speaker 10: the kid who had to reclass due to some eligibility
- 16:51Speaker 10: issues down in Florida, so it's good to see him
- 16:54Speaker 10: out there running around. He's the kid that we hoped
- 16:57Speaker 10: we were getting in recruiting for sure. Offensive scout team
- 17:00Speaker 10: player of the week was Ryan Burton, and special team
- 17:03Speaker 10: scout team player of the week was Chase Burton. Both
- 17:05Speaker 10: those guys were out there on the 12th man kickoff Saturday,
- 17:08Speaker 10: which was really cool to see. Our offensive lineman of
- 17:11Speaker 10: the week was Wilkin Formby. Again, I think continuing to
- 17:14Speaker 10: get better and make strides. Just from a fundamental standpoint,
- 17:18Speaker 10: obviously it's hard to completely judge off that tape, but
- 17:21Speaker 10: just from a fundamental standpoint, I thought he played really well.
- 17:24Speaker 10: And then defensively, we gave it to D.J. Sanders, who
- 17:28Speaker 10: kind of stepped into a role where he took a
- 17:30Speaker 10: lot more snaps in the normal flow of the game
- 17:32Speaker 10: with D.J. Hicks not playing. And so I thought he
- 17:35Speaker 10: handled that really, really well and probably earned himself some
- 17:38Speaker 10: more opportunities as we move forward here down the stretch.
- 17:42Speaker 10: Players of the week, offensively, Jamarian Morrow, three touchdowns, 6.8
- 17:46Speaker 10: yards to carry. Good to see him back and healthy
- 17:49Speaker 10: out there playing. Defensively, went with Ray Coney, a linebacker.
- 17:54Speaker 10: I thought all of our linebackers, that was not a
- 17:57Speaker 10: very easy offense to go against from a run-fit standpoint.
- 18:01Speaker 10: I thought for the most part, we handled it really,
- 18:03Speaker 10: really well from that perspective. Seven tackles was great. Special teams,
- 18:08Speaker 10: Bravion Rogers continues to find ways to impact the game.
- 18:12Speaker 10: Obviously we were in a little bit of a pinch
- 18:14Speaker 10: from a returner standpoint and so we've kind of been
- 18:17Speaker 10: working him the last few weeks and wanted to get
- 18:19Speaker 10: him a chance to go out in the game and
- 18:21Speaker 10: catch him and obviously took that one and returned it
- 18:24Speaker 10: 42 yards and so that was good to see. We
- 18:27Speaker 10: handled the game the way we wanted to. We were
- 18:28Speaker 10: able to get done what we wanted to get done
- 18:30Speaker 10: and now it's back to SEC play and a big
- 18:33Speaker 10: challenge this week against a really, really talented Alabama team.
- 18:37Speaker 10: A team that I think has functioned in really well
- 18:39Speaker 10: on both sides of the ball. Obviously, two tough losses back-to-back,
- 18:43Speaker 10: but against really talented teams that they've been playing. Just
- 18:45Speaker 10: a really, really good team and a huge challenge. From there,
- 18:48Speaker 10: we'll open up to questions.
- 18:50Speaker 11: We'll go over to the right, second row.
- 18:52Speaker 12: David.
- 18:52Speaker 13: Go Choco.
- 18:53Speaker 14: You guys had opportunities on the road at Missouri early on,
- 18:56Speaker 14: but you failed to capitalize. How important is it, especially
- 18:58Speaker 14: going to a hostile place like Alabama and some of
- 19:01Speaker 14: the struggles you guys have had to take advantage of
- 19:04Speaker 14: those times early?
- 19:05Speaker 10: I think it's both, honestly. I think as we've talked
- 19:07Speaker 10: about trying to play our way out of this. It's
- 19:11Speaker 10: obviously trying to find ways to create early success, but also,
- 19:14Speaker 10: I think, understanding our ability and need to react. If
- 19:18Speaker 10: you go back and think of the road wins that
- 19:21Speaker 10: we've had in my time here, to get a win
- 19:24Speaker 10: against a really good team on the road, you're going
- 19:27Speaker 10: to have to make plays early, but you're also going
- 19:29Speaker 10: to have to overcome failures. You're also going to have
- 19:31Speaker 10: to have swings and momentum. You're also going to have
- 19:34Speaker 10: That's what it's going to take. It's going to take
- 19:36Speaker 10: a full three and a half hours of battling all
- 19:40Speaker 10: of the ebbs and flows that come with a road
- 19:42Speaker 10: game in this conference. And so it's about starting fast,
- 19:47Speaker 10: but I think it's also as important that we do
- 19:49Speaker 10: a much better job of handling the downslides that were
- 19:54Speaker 10: going to naturally happen in a game when you play
- 19:56Speaker 10: on the road.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Follow-up.
- 19:58Speaker 14: A couple weeks ago, it looked like your team had
- 19:59Speaker 14: a very uphill climb to get back into the mix
- 20:01Speaker 14: in the SEC. Considering what has happened in the last
- 20:04Speaker 14: few weeks, how cognizant do you all have to be,
- 20:07Speaker 14: or does it just head down one game at a time?
- 20:09Speaker 10: Yeah, I think, honestly, it's head down one day at
- 20:11Speaker 10: a time. That's just where we are right now as
- 20:14Speaker 10: a program, and that's kind of where we got to
- 20:16Speaker 10: a while ago. We've got to keep pushing to push
- 20:20Speaker 10: those results onto Saturday and see them the way we
- 20:23Speaker 10: need to see them, but it has gotten into a head-down...
- 20:27Speaker 10: attack today get better today focus on today that has
- 20:31Speaker 10: been our approach for weeks now and I don't think
- 20:33Speaker 10: we can change from that relative to what's happening obviously
- 20:37Speaker 10: aware of it and know what you're talking about but
- 20:39Speaker 10: I just think for us it's just going out tomorrow
- 20:41Speaker 10: and having a great Tuesday and continuing to get.
- 20:44Speaker 11: Better we'll go over to the left second row Alex
- 20:47Speaker 11: Mike what would you like the most about the way
- 20:49Speaker 11: the offense maybe operated last week throughout practice into the
- 20:52Speaker 11: game that maybe you guys can carry.
- 20:54Speaker 10: Forward Yeah, again, I think we are making strides. I
- 20:58Speaker 10: think when you watch us at practice, I think we
- 21:00Speaker 10: are continuing to improve the overall level. Again, that needs
- 21:06Speaker 10: to translate, and so that wasn't unique to last week.
- 21:09Speaker 10: I do feel like the last couple weeks, we've started
- 21:13Speaker 10: operating and functioning a little bit back towards where we
- 21:16Speaker 10: were heading into the season, and that's the starting point.
- 21:19Speaker 10: If it's not happening in practice, it's certainly not going
- 21:21Speaker 10: to happen in the game. And so we've got to
- 21:25Speaker 10: continue to go. We've got to continue to work. We've
- 21:26Speaker 10: got to continue to improve and try to keep moving
- 21:30Speaker 10: this thing in a way to be successful.
- 21:31Speaker 11: And then I asked you about TK after the game.
- 21:33Speaker 11: I'm just curious, what do you see maybe his growth
- 21:36Speaker 11: throughout the offseason and through the early part of the
- 21:38Speaker 11: season that now he's been able to maybe have a
- 21:40Speaker 11: little bit more of an impact in the passing game
- 21:41Speaker 11: the last few weeks?
- 21:42Speaker 10: Yeah, I think just, again, a kid who's getting more
- 21:45Speaker 10: and more comfortable with what it takes to be a
- 21:46Speaker 10: wide out in this conference at this level. A kid
- 21:50Speaker 10: who had a really good offseason putting weight on, putting
- 21:53Speaker 10: strength on, and now I think it's starting to translate
- 21:55Speaker 10: into his play a little bit. He had been kind
- 21:58Speaker 10: of chipping away, chipping away at opportunities. Again, with some
- 22:02Speaker 10: of the injuries and some of the different things that
- 22:04Speaker 10: have happened, it created some opportunities for him, and he's
- 22:07Speaker 10: certainly taken advantage of them.
- 22:09Speaker 9: Go back over to the right, first row, Travis.
- 22:12Speaker 13: Mike, in the Transfer Portal world of today, Do you
- 22:15Speaker 13: find that players, when they go back and play teams
- 22:18Speaker 13: that they were on previously, maybe in the past there
- 22:20Speaker 13: was a little bit of a revenge factor. Now is
- 22:22Speaker 13: it a little bit more business-like, business decision?
- 22:24Speaker 10: Yeah, I think it's probably just a little bit more common.
- 22:28Speaker 10: The post-games are not nearly what the post-games were eight,
- 22:32Speaker 10: ten years ago. Now it feels like everybody's got ex-teammates
- 22:36Speaker 10: all over the place or guys that you know or
- 22:38Speaker 10: guys that you played with. It's not just guys from
- 22:40Speaker 10: high school. It's got a little bit of a different
- 22:44Speaker 10: feel to it from that perspective and just kind of
- 22:47Speaker 10: how this thing goes. It's way more like the professional
- 22:50Speaker 10: ranks where there's just a lot more relationships that have
- 22:54Speaker 10: formed with former teammates. I think at this point, it
- 22:57Speaker 10: just kind of is what it is. We've got some guys, obviously,
- 23:00Speaker 10: that had played there last year, but I don't think
- 23:02Speaker 10: that really impacts a ton. I think probably more than
- 23:05Speaker 10: anything that we feel is when you have kids going
- 23:08Speaker 10: back to their home state, that probably is a little
- 23:11Speaker 10: bit more of a moment than kids playing their former teams, honestly.
- 23:16Speaker 13: And more rumblings about moving forward towards a 2014 playoff.
- 23:20Speaker 13: As a coach, how do you feel about that? And
- 23:22Speaker 13: maybe as a college football fan? How do you feel
- 23:24Speaker 13: about that separately?
- 23:26Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, I've been pretty clear on my thoughts
- 23:28Speaker 10: on that. Again, that's not a decision that I get
- 23:31Speaker 10: to make or anybody really cares what my thoughts are,
- 23:33Speaker 10: but I hope we're doing right valuing the regular season.
- 23:38Speaker 10: I think the thing that makes this sport really special
- 23:40Speaker 10: is its regular season, the pageantry of the regular season,
- 23:43Speaker 10: how important the games are during the regular season, and
- 23:47Speaker 10: I just hope that we don't lose that as a
- 23:49Speaker 10: college football fan.
- 23:50Speaker 11: We'll go to the back right, Chip.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Mike, as wild and crazy as Saturday was all over
- 23:56Speaker 3: the country, it seemed like to me the common theme
- 23:58Speaker 3: was turnovers. Alabama had four of them against Tennessee on Saturday,
- 24:03Speaker 3: and I know it's always a key. But on the road,
- 24:06Speaker 3: is it even more important to try to play clean
- 24:09Speaker 3: and take the ball away?
- 24:11Speaker 10: Yeah, I think it's always important regardless of where you play.
- 24:14Speaker 10: I think the road amplifies it for sure. There's a
- 24:19Speaker 10: reason why it's the number one thing hanging on our
- 24:21Speaker 10: walls all over this building is because I do. I
- 24:24Speaker 10: think it's the number one thing that indicates success. If
- 24:28Speaker 10: you want to go win a football game, a really
- 24:31Speaker 10: good starting point is protecting the football and taking it away.
- 24:35Speaker 10: That's something we've and obviously will play a big role
- 24:39Speaker 10: in our success on Saturday.
- 24:41Speaker 3: And beside the turnovers, Tennessee was the only team so
- 24:44Speaker 3: far to really, really slow down the Alabama offense. What
- 24:48Speaker 3: did you see? that affected that offense on Saturday from Tennessee?
- 24:54Speaker 10: Yeah, I just think they've got a really talented quarterback.
- 24:59Speaker 10: They've got a really good offensive line. They've got really
- 25:02Speaker 10: explosive players on the outside. Tennessee maybe did a better
- 25:06Speaker 10: job than most of affecting the quarterback with the D-line
- 25:09Speaker 10: in the pass rush, but I'm sure that's something that
- 25:13Speaker 10: they'll rectify. It's a really talented group.
- 25:16Speaker 11: We'll go to the left, second row, Tyler.
- 25:19Speaker 9: Mike, you specifically mentioned D.J.
- 25:20Speaker 13: Sanders.
- 25:21Speaker 9: Were there other players and personnel that you saw from
- 25:25Speaker 9: maybe the last week of practice in this last game
- 25:27Speaker 9: that you feel like guys have started to earn more
- 25:31Speaker 9: playing time to give you a chance to win?
- 25:33Speaker 10: Yeah, a lot of the guys I mentioned after the game.
- 25:35Speaker 15: I think T.K.
- 25:36Speaker 6: Norman's one.
- 25:37Speaker 10: Aaron Gregory's playing a lot more. Carson Baker and K.J.
- 25:41Speaker 10: Edwards continue to go. Kiadi Armstrong continues to get more reps.
- 25:45Speaker 10: Sam Roseborough has played a lot of snaps the last
- 25:47Speaker 10: couple of weeks. Brandon Davis-Swain and Landon Rink have elevated
- 25:51Speaker 10: a defensive tackle, so I think it's all over the field.
- 25:56Speaker 9: You mentioned Keylon Russell. Is he similar to the quarterback
- 26:00Speaker 9: you guys have faced? What is your evaluation of going
- 26:04Speaker 9: up against him?
- 26:05Speaker 10: Really special player. Obviously familiar with him all the way
- 26:07Speaker 10: back to recruiting. Really talented kid at Duncanville. He's having
- 26:12Speaker 10: a really, really good year. Can attack you in a
- 26:14Speaker 10: lot of different ways. Can make all of the throws.
- 26:17Speaker 10: delivers the ball very confidently in a really tight spiral,
- 26:20Speaker 10: has ability with his legs to make plays when the
- 26:22Speaker 10: play breaks down. I think, obviously, he's been a really
- 26:26Speaker 10: huge weapon for them this year, someone we obviously are
- 26:28Speaker 10: going to have to try to do our best to
- 26:30Speaker 10: slow down as best we can.
- 26:31Speaker 3: That's part of Coach Elko earlier this afternoon with his
- 26:36Speaker 3: weekly gathering with the media. A & M is at
- 26:42Speaker 3: Alabama on ABC at 2.30 p.m. Our coverage will begin
- 26:47Speaker 3: at 10.30 on Saturday morning.
- 26:52Speaker 1: And then, you know, just leave it on.
- 26:57Speaker 3: I don't know why you would turn off the station
- 26:59Speaker 3: between now and Saturday, quite frankly. If you have to miss, remember,
- 27:04Speaker 3: we have our podcast up at chiphoward.com or zone1150.
- 27:09Speaker 12: Com.
- 27:12Speaker 3: We'll put our favorite interviews up in the interview section
- 27:16Speaker 3: with separate interviews for our outdoor edition as well.
- 27:21Speaker 1: So we've got that going on for us, which is nice.
- 27:25Speaker 3: You look at what is happening, and we're talking about
- 27:30Speaker 3: watering down the effects of the regular season.
- 27:37Speaker 1: And I don't think this is.
- 27:41Speaker 3: College basketball, where you play two or three times a week.
- 27:45Speaker 3: You still only play once a week. I think in
- 27:49Speaker 3: this league, the stadiums are going to be full, whether
- 27:53Speaker 3: it's a 12-team playoff or a two-team playoff or a
- 27:56Speaker 3: 40-team playoff.
- 27:59Speaker 9: And I.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Would like to believe you're still going to get games
- 28:07Speaker 3: like we had this past Saturday. Because, yes, there are
- 28:13Speaker 3: playoff implications. There are playoff implications in every one of
- 28:18Speaker 3: these games, no doubt. But Georgia lost. I still am
- 28:25Speaker 3: sitting here thinking, yes, they're going to be in the playoffs, right?
- 28:30Speaker 3: Notre Dame lost. They're going to be in the playoffs.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Indiana lost.
- 28:38Speaker 3: I still believe Indiana is going to be in the playoffs.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Alabama lost. Now, that's a little more problematic. They've got
- 28:49Speaker 3: two losses. Will there be a three-loss team in this year,
- 28:57Speaker 3: especially from the SEC.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Given they've gone to a ninth game?
- 29:03Speaker 3: Or not, right? And it's going to depend what everybody
- 29:12Speaker 3: else does.
- 29:14Speaker 1: These top teams aren't through losing, okay?
- 29:18Speaker 3: I'm looking at Tennessee's schedule, and they've surprised me.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I've got to be honest.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Their line of scrimmage is really good, which is why
- 29:30Speaker 3: they're winning games and why they beat Alabama. Notice that
- 29:33Speaker 3: both Alabama and Georgia lost on Saturday, and neither one
- 29:38Speaker 3: came close.
- 29:40Speaker 1: To playing real well.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I mean, that's not a coincidence. They beat the hell
- 29:47Speaker 3: out of each other the week before. So that, that
- 29:52Speaker 3: is not a coincidence that both those teams lost. Um,
- 29:59Speaker 3: Tennessee has Kentucky. They come here on the 14th of November.
- 30:09Speaker 3: They host LSU, so they get Kentucky and LSU at home.
- 30:14Speaker 3: They're at A & M and at Vanderbilt. And they're
- 30:16Speaker 3: this week at South Carolina, where, by the way, if
- 30:19Speaker 3: I saw this correctly, they're only a one-and-a-half point favorite.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Did I get that right, Stan? Or has it changed?
- 30:28Speaker 3: It's changed to Tennessee's favored by two and a half.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Okay, so it went up one point. Two and a half.
- 30:36Speaker 1: And that's, you know, I don't doubt that.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Because they're coming off an emotional game, and now they're
- 30:41Speaker 3: going on the road.
- 30:43Speaker 1: And was it Florida that South Carolina lit up a
- 30:46Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago?
- 30:48Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 3: So it's, hey, guys, we're only about halfway. You get that, right?
- 30:56Speaker 3: We have a lot of football left to play, a
- 31:00Speaker 3: lot of football. Speaking of Tennessee, we're going to hear
- 31:03Speaker 3: from Josh Heupel coming up here in just a minute.
- 31:06Speaker 1: We've got our writers' roundtable at 5 o'clock.
- 31:10Speaker 3: I want to send you over and see my friend

- 31:35Speaker 3: staff are going to keep it running well. And if
- 31:38Speaker 3: it's not running well, they're going to take care of you.

- 33:41Speaker 3: Hey, thanks for joining us. It is a Monday afternoon.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Rusty and Cease will join me here in about 30 minutes. Again,
- 33:57Speaker 3: tomorrow on the program, author Michael Starr and his book,
- 34:00Speaker 3: Bob Newhart, The Life and Laughter of an American Treasure.
- 34:05Speaker 3: We'll also have a high school report tomorrow. We'll hear
- 34:09Speaker 3: a little bit more from Coach Elko. I talked about Tennessee, Alabama.
- 34:16Speaker 1: It was a beatdown.
- 34:17Speaker 3: 347 yards of offense to 201 total yards.
- 34:23Speaker 1: They held.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Alabama to 54 net yards rushing.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Some of that was sacks. Okay.
- 34:33Speaker 3: But Oh, my gosh. And Bishop was a man. He
- 34:38Speaker 3: carried the ball 32 times for Tennessee. Tennessee beat up
- 34:43Speaker 3: Alabama in the trenches on both sides of the football.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Here's Josh Heupel afterward.
- 34:50Speaker 20: Just want to start by saying thanks to our fans.
- 34:53Speaker 20: Knew it would be, but elite atmosphere. Part of the
- 34:57Speaker 20: game for four quarters. Phenomenal atmosphere. Great win. There's defense
- 35:11Speaker 20: suffocating elite performance. Really proud of those guys. They handled adversity,
- 35:16Speaker 20: sudden change extremely well. Great performance by them. And as
- 35:22Speaker 20: a team, found a way to win against a good
- 35:25Speaker 20: football team and really proud of our guys. So enjoy
- 35:31Speaker 20: this one tonight and then start getting better tomorrow.
- 35:35Speaker 13: So it was Austin and then.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Josh, Jim is such a stoic guy for.
- 35:40Speaker 13: The people that.
- 35:41Speaker 20: You picked up on that? Yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 16: No, but there after the game, he's dancing and cutting
- 35:47Speaker 16: the jig or whatever you want to call it. I mean, like,
- 35:49Speaker 16: what's he like for players to play for? Because it
- 35:51Speaker 16: seems like they play so hard for that guy.
- 35:52Speaker 15: They love him.
- 35:53Speaker 20: You know, he's a Philly guy. Tough, demanding, but they
- 36:02Speaker 20: love him and they believe in him and.
- 36:07Speaker 20: He cuts up and has some fun with them too, man.
- 36:09Speaker 20: He's got a great way of connecting with people. I
- 36:12Speaker 20: have seen that really from the very beginning in his
- 36:16Speaker 20: own way of doing it. Elite job by him tonight.
- 36:23Speaker 11: Coach, last year your team didn't win the time possession
- 36:27Speaker 11: battle against a single SC opponent.
- 36:28Speaker 16: Tonight you beat the number two scoring offense in the
- 36:30Speaker 16: country on the.
- 36:31Speaker 13: Time possession battle.
- 36:32Speaker 16: Can you talk a little bit about what that run
- 36:33Speaker 16: game has done for your offense, how it's kind of.
- 36:35Speaker 20: Made it easier for your quarterbacks as well? Uh, run game, um, situationally, uh,
- 36:40Speaker 20: us playing smart, um, and, uh, finding a way, the
- 36:45Speaker 20: right way to, to try to go win a football game, uh,
- 36:48Speaker 20: operating out of the huddle offensively. Um, there's a lot
- 36:51Speaker 20: of pieces of it. Uh, the run game, certainly, um,
- 36:55Speaker 20: you know, you look at the, the way we were
- 36:57Speaker 20: able to finish, um, the football game, um, I don't
- 37:01Speaker 20: know how many plays it was, but a lot of
- 37:05Speaker 20: big plays. In the run game, a couple of key conversions,
- 37:11Speaker 20: throwing the football too, but really proud of the effort
- 37:16Speaker 20: of we're talking about offense right now, so offense finishing
- 37:21Speaker 20: that way, but we talked about this being a line
- 37:25Speaker 20: of scrimmage game, boxing match mentality, and I have to
- 37:30Speaker 20: win him with physicality for four quarters, and I thought
- 37:32Speaker 20: we did that. I'm proud of our football team.
- 37:34Speaker 22: Mike and David.
- 37:36Speaker 12: Josh, 15 plays, nine-and-a-half-minute drive.
- 37:38Speaker 20: For a coach who's kind of earned a reputation for
- 37:41Speaker 20: playing offense a certain type of way, how much pride
- 37:43Speaker 20: do you take in that being a game-searing drive? I
- 37:47Speaker 20: take a ton of pride in playing winning football at
- 37:50Speaker 20: that point in the game and being able to function
- 37:52Speaker 20: and operate. George did a really good job being able
- 37:57Speaker 20: to drain the clock when we were asking him to
- 37:58Speaker 20: do that, you know, and then run the football the
- 38:01Speaker 20: way that you needed to sustain a drive and then
- 38:04Speaker 20: go finish that drive. And Bishop was elite. You know,
- 38:08Speaker 20: at halftime just said it's going to be a big
- 38:10Speaker 20: second half to him, and he had a big smile
- 38:13Speaker 20: on his face gleaming in his eye, and he certainly
- 38:15Speaker 20: did that tonight.
- 38:17Speaker 21: A slight identity shift i know running the ball has
- 38:19Speaker 21: always been a staple.
- 38:20Speaker 20: Running the football has always been uh the foundation of
- 38:23Speaker 20: who we are um year to year identity of your
- 38:27Speaker 20: football team um how do you play smart football and
- 38:30Speaker 20: try to put your team uh in the situation to
- 38:32Speaker 20: win and uh that can be a little bit different
- 38:35Speaker 20: week to week um and uh but uh find a
- 38:38Speaker 20: way to do that tonight.
- 38:41Speaker 16: Josh, Kalen moments ago kept coming back to your defensive front,
- 38:44Speaker 16: saying you got to Kalen early, and when you have
- 38:47Speaker 16: a dominant front, you need explosives to counter it, and
- 38:50Speaker 16: they didn't have any. Did you know this defensive front
- 38:53Speaker 16: could have these type of games.
- 38:55Speaker 20: Against these types of games? I felt like they were
- 38:59Speaker 20: better up front than they were a year ago, and
- 39:04Speaker 20: through the course of this season, our defensive line has
- 39:08Speaker 20: continued to get better every week. You know, and Xavier's
- 39:16Speaker 20: been elite, right? But there's a lot of them that
- 39:19Speaker 20: have been playing at a really high level. And our
- 39:22Speaker 20: edges were able to get to the quarterback tonight to
- 39:24Speaker 20: affect them. He escaped on a couple of plays. But
- 39:27Speaker 20: I think the key is, you know, our front is
- 39:31Speaker 20: playing well off of each other. That's in our twist game,
- 39:35Speaker 20: our run stunts. They're executing and performing together and it
- 39:39Speaker 20: takes a level of unselfishness to do that too. That's
- 39:44Speaker 20: a big part of that group right now.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Ben and Jimmy?
- 39:47Speaker 5: Josh, what are you most proud of George with his
- 39:49Speaker 5: performance tonight?
- 39:51Speaker 7: What did he do really well?
- 39:54Speaker 20: Played winning football. The ups and downs in a game
- 39:58Speaker 20: like this, I thought he was decisive, going to the
- 40:01Speaker 20: right spots on the football field, has some adversity, tip, pick,
- 40:08Speaker 20: and just super consistent, same demeanor, goes out the following play,
- 40:12Speaker 20: following drive, and cuts it, trusts his eyes. He extended
- 40:16Speaker 20: and made some plays, early scramble, check down. There was
- 40:20Speaker 20: a conversion and a big-time play in the fourth quarter
- 40:25Speaker 20: on a boot play. I thought he saw it extremely
- 40:30Speaker 20: well and was composed and went and played the next play.
- 40:34Speaker 16: What do you think makes Deshaun Bishop such a special back?
- 40:37Speaker 16: Do you think maybe he still doesn't get the credit
- 40:39Speaker 16: he should?
- 40:43Speaker 20: I don't pay attention to a lot of things that
- 40:45Speaker 20: like nationally and that type of thing. Uh, he's a
- 40:48Speaker 20: special back, um, smart, tough, physical finishes, runs, runs through trash,
- 40:56Speaker 20: you know, a dirty, you know, two, three yard game.
- 41:00Speaker 20: He's pushing for five. It changes the game, uh, situational football. Um,
- 41:05Speaker 20: he's got great vision when he bounces it. It's typically
- 41:09Speaker 20: the right time to, to bounce it. Uh, he has
- 41:12Speaker 20: an understanding of, uh, run schemes and structurally what he's
- 41:16Speaker 20: seeing and really good vision. He's special.
- 41:20Speaker 19: Back with John and Vince.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Josh, you've always been very open about your appreciation for
- 41:25Speaker 3: the fans.
- 41:26Speaker 10: You've now been able to give them an opportunity to
- 41:29Speaker 10: storm the field three times.
- 41:31Speaker 13: What does that mean to you to be able to
- 41:33Speaker 13: give the fan base a moment that they'll remember with
- 41:36Speaker 13: their families for a long time?
- 41:38Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 41:39Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 41:43Speaker 20: Go back to the first one, all the buildup lead
- 41:46Speaker 20: up to it, and now there's an expectation. That's what
- 41:51Speaker 20: you do when you're playing these guys. It's been fun
- 41:56Speaker 20: building this. There's been days where we want different outcomes,
- 42:00Speaker 20: but this is, without a doubt, the best fan base
- 42:03Speaker 20: in America. They show up in an elite way every Saturday.
- 42:09Speaker 20: Recruits come here. You drive by Vol Navy and see
- 42:12Speaker 20: all those boats. You go to Vol Walk and you
- 42:16Speaker 20: see 35,000 people. 60 minutes before kickoff, it's 65%, 70% full.
- 42:21Speaker 20: It's college sports. College football is as good as it
- 42:26Speaker 20: gets and special to be here. Walking off that field
- 42:33Speaker 20: in a situation like tonight where you win, those are
- 42:35Speaker 20: things that I'll remember forever too.
- 42:38Speaker 21: Josh, I know you didn't get in the end zone
- 42:40Speaker 21: like you wanted in the first half with those drives
- 42:42Speaker 21: and set up for those field goals, but did you
- 42:44Speaker 21: kind of have to.
- 42:44Speaker 20: Thanks for stating the obvious.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Just setting up the question.
- 42:48Speaker 22: So did you feel like it was going to be
- 42:51Speaker 22: this kind of game where, hey, I'm taking the points
- 42:53Speaker 22: and we're not going to try to chase points?
- 42:57Speaker 10: Every game.
- 43:01Speaker 20: You, you watch the film, right. And you, you try
- 43:04Speaker 20: to understand what you're getting into, right. And style of
- 43:07Speaker 20: play and matchups. And there's 11 different matchups on the field,
- 43:11Speaker 20: every play. And, um, you're, you're trying to predict how
- 43:15Speaker 20: it's going to play out. Um, ultimately early in the
- 43:18Speaker 20: football game, just not as efficient, effective as we needed
- 43:22Speaker 20: to be. Um, you know, and that's, you know, not
- 43:25Speaker 20: converting on some of the passes, you know, third downs,
- 43:28Speaker 20: not being able to convert, um, And you just couldn't
- 43:33Speaker 20: come up empty-handed in those situations. And I haven't mentioned
- 43:38Speaker 20: it yet, but Coop did an unbelievable job. And probably
- 43:43Speaker 20: as windy of a day as we've had inside of
- 43:45Speaker 20: that stadium since I've been here. Put everything right through
- 43:48Speaker 20: the uprights. And that was a huge part of the
- 43:51Speaker 20: game early. You kick field goals like that, typically it
- 43:55Speaker 20: comes back to bite you in the butt, though, too.
- 43:58Speaker 13: And.
- 44:00Speaker 20: We were able to, in some ways, get away with
- 44:03Speaker 20: that because of an elite defensive performance.
- 44:08Speaker 3: That's Josh Heupel. They just dominated Alabama. 26-10 final. Second half,
- 44:20Speaker 3: especially at the line of scrimmage, just wore them out.
- 44:25Speaker 3: And four turnovers killed the Tide. So if A &
- 44:31Speaker 3: M can get four turnovers in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, they
- 44:37Speaker 3: will have a shot.
- 44:39Speaker 20: All right.

- 45:16Speaker 22: Houston Texans won in Wembley yesterday, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 45:21Speaker 22: Final score, 34-31.
- 45:24Speaker 1: C.J.
- 45:24Speaker 22: Stroud had a great day in the air, throwing for
- 45:27Speaker 22: 312 yards and three touchdowns.
- 45:30Speaker 5: Stroud floats one for no!
- 45:32Speaker 12: Touchdown!
- 45:33Speaker 22: Call courtesy of Bob Wischusen and the NFL Network. It
- 45:37Speaker 22: was a solid day on the ground for Houston, who
- 45:40Speaker 22: rushed for 114 yards on the day. The game came
- 45:44Speaker 22: down to the wire, And with both teams tied at 31,
- 45:48Speaker 22: Kaimi Fairbairn kicked the game winner right down the middle.
- 45:52Speaker 5: In exchange, it's away, and it is down the middle.
- 45:58Speaker 5: The Texans win.
- 45:59Speaker 16: It here in London.
- 46:01Speaker 22: Call courtesy of Bob Wischusen and the NFL Network. The
- 46:04Speaker 22: Texans return to action this Sunday to host the New

- 47:14Speaker 3: It's Tech Sags Live, brought to you by David Gardner's Jewelers.
- 47:17Speaker 21: We're such a quarterback-reliant world now, high school, college, and pro.
- 47:21Speaker 21: But you know who the teams that are finding a way? Like,
- 47:24Speaker 21: look at Oregon. Dante Moore hurt and was kind of
- 47:26Speaker 21: having an up-and-down, and Dylan Raiola. They're so quarterback-centric, and
- 47:31Speaker 21: my Trojans are too, that if you lose one or
- 47:33Speaker 21: they don't play well, you're in a world of hurt.
- 47:36Speaker 21: There are some teams, though, that are playing well enough
- 47:39Speaker 21: that if their quarterback doesn't have a lights-out performance, they're
- 47:42Speaker 21: still physical enough and smart enough, they're making enough plays
- 47:46Speaker 21: to keep them in games. A & M hasn't done
- 47:50Speaker 21: that enough. You saw that they made too many mistakes
- 47:52Speaker 21: at quarterback in their game Alabama-Tennessee. So there's so much
- 47:57Speaker 21: to do with you know, how you handle the pressure.
- 47:59Speaker 21: So I'm anxious to see if A & M has
- 48:02Speaker 21: to have perfect quarterback play, which is not going to
- 48:04Speaker 21: happen against A & M.
- 48:05Speaker 18: It's just not.
- 48:06Speaker 21: How they overcome if somebody throws a pick, because we've
- 48:09Speaker 21: seen already they haven't done a good job of it
- 48:10Speaker 21: this year.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Lord, it's the same old tune, fiddle and guitar.
- 48:26Speaker 25: Where do we take it from here?
- 48:28Speaker 3: I think that's one of my absolute favorite Wayland songs
- 48:34Speaker 3: right there.
- 48:35Speaker 1: I don't think Hank done it this way. Welcome back.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Glad to have you with us on a Monday. Writers'
- 48:40Speaker 3: Roundtable coming your way in less than 15 minutes. On Saturday,
- 48:45Speaker 3: freshman Aaron Gregory out of Georgia had six catches, 94 yards,
- 48:50Speaker 3: two TDs, and talked about it afterward.
- 48:54Speaker 11: Aaron, when did you find out you were going to
- 48:56Speaker 11: be starting and just how are you kind of approaching
- 48:58Speaker 11: this game knowing that you might have an increased role?
- 49:01Speaker 15: This whole week I've kind of been rotating in and
- 49:03Speaker 15: then by like Wednesday they kind of selected it up. So,
- 49:07Speaker 15: Coming out Wednesday and practicing into Thursday and Friday, I knew.
- 49:10Speaker 11: What were some of the things y'all maybe talked about
- 49:12Speaker 11: just on the field, maybe right post-game about what y'all
- 49:15Speaker 11: liked about how the offense operated maybe throughout practice this
- 49:17Speaker 11: week and the game today that maybe y'all can carry forward?
- 49:20Speaker 15: Everybody was on one unit, so we was all moving
- 49:22Speaker 15: at one and then just executing. That's been the biggest thing.
- 49:25Speaker 15: We got to execute, so that's what it made.
- 49:28Speaker 20: Right side with Travis.
- 49:31Speaker 13: Aaron, how do you feel like you're a different receiver
- 49:34Speaker 13: now after this game than maybe you were when the
- 49:36Speaker 13: season started?
- 49:38Speaker 7: I don't feel really different.
- 49:39Speaker 15: I'm not going to lie to you. I think since
- 49:41Speaker 15: the beginning it's kind of just been just working and
- 49:43Speaker 15: working and working. And then this game came out and
- 49:46Speaker 15: worked some more. And then after we're going to continue
- 49:48Speaker 15: to work. So I don't really feel different in a way,
- 49:50Speaker 15: you know.
- 49:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 49:50Speaker 13: So and beyond just guys going down injured, what do
- 49:53Speaker 13: you feel like has made you emerge as maybe one
- 49:57Speaker 13: of the prime targets for Marcel?
- 50:00Speaker 15: I think my teammates has actually made that a great
- 50:03Speaker 15: experience because them going down, it actually is like, okay, A.G.,
- 50:06Speaker 15: like let's step up let's let's continue to work let's
- 50:08Speaker 15: do what you know you came here to do so
- 50:10Speaker 15: i think that's what it is uh left side third.
- 50:12Speaker 6: Row hey aaron how encouraging was it um not just
- 50:17Speaker 6: you but have tk have even kk getting catches like
- 50:20Speaker 6: just in terms of the the room as a whole
- 50:22Speaker 6: how encouraging was today.
- 50:24Speaker 15: Crazy man just seeing all the boys are going out
- 50:26Speaker 15: there and playing ball the sport we love just it
- 50:30Speaker 15: was a great experience to see it.
- 50:33Speaker 10: And uh right side with peter.
- 50:36Speaker 14: What can the team take away from this going forward
- 50:39Speaker 14: into the SEC onslaught that's coming?
- 50:42Speaker 15: Just continue to build, literally. That's just the biggest thing.
- 50:44Speaker 15: Continue to play hard, continue to build, continue to be
- 50:46Speaker 15: on one path.
- 50:51Speaker 6: Travis?
- 50:53Speaker 13: Yeah, what do you feel like was different today about
- 50:57Speaker 13: the passing offense and made things a little bit more successful?
- 51:02Speaker 15: Just we all came out there and was on one unit,
- 51:04Speaker 15: I think. I think that was the biggest thing, just
- 51:06Speaker 15: everybody being on one path, straightforward, came out there, played physical,
- 51:09Speaker 15: get the job done, do your part. I think we
- 51:12Speaker 15: did that at a high level today.
- 51:13Speaker 13: Which one of the touchdowns was your favorite and kind
- 51:15Speaker 13: of walk through that one?
- 51:16Speaker 15: I think the deep post was, you know, safety came down,
- 51:21Speaker 15: I post the ball over in the middle, and then
- 51:24Speaker 15: it was a deep one, so it was always an
- 51:25Speaker 15: exciting play, and it sailed through an amazing ball. So
- 51:28Speaker 15: I think that was the best one.
- 51:30Speaker 10: Left side with Alex.
- 51:33Speaker 11: You talked about how you guys want to execute better.
- 51:36Speaker 11: When you break that down, what have been some of
- 51:37Speaker 11: the conversations y'all have had maybe throughout the week with
- 51:40Speaker 11: Coach Perry, Coach Wiggins, of what exactly that looks like
- 51:43Speaker 11: you need to execute better?
- 51:45Speaker 15: I feel like from a receiver room for us, of
- 51:47Speaker 15: course we're still playing at a high level, but one
- 51:50Speaker 15: of the takeaways from us that we've been trying to,
- 51:52Speaker 15: I'll say, fix is just our blocking downfield, being able
- 51:56Speaker 15: to be more physical and being able to go block
- 51:58Speaker 15: the dude that's in front of you. I think we
- 52:00Speaker 15: did take a step forward today in doing that.
- 52:02Speaker 11: And then just with you personally, what do you feel
- 52:04Speaker 11: like is maybe the biggest strength of your game and
- 52:06Speaker 11: what's maybe the biggest thing you've worked on throughout your
- 52:08Speaker 11: time here at A & M to lead you to
- 52:10Speaker 11: have the role you've had right now?
- 52:11Speaker 15: I think the biggest strength is I can play anywhere,
- 52:14Speaker 15: like in a slot and outside. I can just stretch
- 52:17Speaker 15: the field. It's kind of a big target. You've got
- 52:19Speaker 15: to see it and cover it. So I think that's
- 52:20Speaker 15: been the thing. And then actually the biggest thing I
- 52:23Speaker 15: worked on coming here was actually my breaks. Honestly, that
- 52:26Speaker 15: was a big thing that I had worked on with
- 52:28Speaker 15: Coach Wigg and Coach Perry.
- 52:31Speaker 10: Right side with John?
- 52:33Speaker 5: Aaron, you were one of the more vocal leaders of
- 52:34Speaker 5: your recruiting class. Coming in here, seeing guys like KK
- 52:38Speaker 5: make plays, Carson Baker scoring touchdowns, what does it mean
- 52:42Speaker 5: for you to see guys you've come in with being
- 52:45Speaker 5: able to contribute early on this year? And what does
- 52:48Speaker 5: it do for your confidence going forward?
- 52:50Speaker 15: It means a lot, especially seeing Carson because we're both
- 52:52Speaker 15: from Georgia and we played against each other. So us
- 52:54Speaker 15: being on the same team now and him doing his
- 52:57Speaker 15: thing and me doing my thing, It's been amazing. And then,
- 52:59Speaker 15: of course, KK. KK coming in here and making his
- 53:02Speaker 15: catches and doing his thing as well is incredible to see.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Left side with Tony.
- 53:08Speaker 13: You talked earlier about how, like, you don't feel different
- 53:11Speaker 13: from now, from the earlier season. But, you know, first-year
- 53:13Speaker 13: guy making plays, has there been a moment where.
- 53:15Speaker 10: It kind of felt like it clicked for you? Or
- 53:17Speaker 10: maybe you kind of had, like, a realization that, like,
- 53:19Speaker 10: you were made for this and this is kind of
- 53:21Speaker 10: what it's been like?
- 53:22Speaker 15: Yeah, I think after Missouri State, that's when it kind
- 53:25Speaker 15: of clicked. It was like, okay, you can do this
- 53:27Speaker 15: at the next level. So I think that's when it
- 53:28Speaker 15: was like, okay, now go eat.
- 53:32Speaker 3: All the way in the back with Tyler.
- 53:35Speaker 9: Aaron, just curious, kind of the reps, how familiar are
- 53:38Speaker 9: you with kind of both quarterbacks and then how comfortable
- 53:42Speaker 9: were you out there with both Brady Hart and Marcel
- 53:45Speaker 9: Reed today?
- 53:46Speaker 15: Me personally, I felt very comfortable with both. I feel
- 53:48Speaker 15: like in practice I get a lot of reps with both.
- 53:50Speaker 15: So honestly, it wasn't a huge difference of one or
- 53:53Speaker 15: the other.
- 53:55Speaker 20: On the left side, fourth row.
- 54:01Speaker 17: What's the mentality like for you as a team after
- 54:03Speaker 17: a win like today going back into a difficult on-the-road game?
- 54:07Speaker 15: Just putting our head down and coming back in the
- 54:09Speaker 15: week and working. Of course, we're happy that we got
- 54:11Speaker 15: the victory, but next week, next game. So just putting
- 54:15Speaker 15: our head down and continuing to work.
- 54:17Speaker 23: Right side of the car.
- 54:17Speaker 3: And just going back to your recruitment, what went into
- 54:21Speaker 3: your decision to come to.
- 54:23Speaker 25: A & M?
- 54:23Speaker 15: Man, the love from when Coach Trooper was at Duke
- 54:26Speaker 15: to now, and then when Coach Wigg was at Bama
- 54:29Speaker 15: to here. It all traveled. Nothing changed. They were all
- 54:32Speaker 15: continuing to love me, so continuing to love back.
- 54:35Speaker 20: You talked about working on your breaks this offseason.
- 54:39Speaker 13: What's the next level for you? What does that look like,
- 54:41Speaker 13: and is that kind of the thing you're continuing to
- 54:44Speaker 13: focus on?
- 54:45Speaker 15: I think the next level is a lot of the
- 54:47Speaker 15: SEC DBs are way more physical within routes. So I
- 54:50Speaker 15: think another step I could take is just creating more
- 54:55Speaker 15: separation and releases, of course.
- 54:56Speaker 3: Aaron Gregory had a good game on Saturday, still missing
- 55:03Speaker 3: a couple of guys.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Mario Craver did not suit out.
- 55:06Speaker 3: Ashton Bethel-Roman did not suit out. Elko was asked about
- 55:13Speaker 3: Roman today. And he said, wait until the Wednesday injury
- 55:18Speaker 3: report comes out. Didn't sound nearly as encouraging. I would
- 55:23Speaker 3: expect that Mario Craver would be available on Saturday, but
- 55:29Speaker 3: I don't know that. As we said earlier, Alabama's top receiver,
- 55:33Speaker 3: I don't expect. He had knee surgery for a meniscus.
- 55:39Speaker 3: It would be less than two weeks. He also got
- 55:41Speaker 3: digged in the head against Georgia. That's Ryan Coleman-Williams. I
- 55:45Speaker 3: don't think we'll see him Saturday. Oliver Brothers. Oliver Brothers
- 55:50Speaker 3: has been around our community 50 years. Yeah, you heard me.
- 55:55Speaker 1: 50 years.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Business started in 1961. And the Oliver Brothers, Gary and Lawrence,
- 56:06Speaker 3: were smart enough to put a store in Bryant, in
- 56:11Speaker 3: the heart of Bryant, at 2107 Cavett in Bryant. And
- 56:16Speaker 3: Larry Haygood has been running that shop ever since. They're
- 56:20Speaker 3: the team. You know, they're going to do free diagnostic
- 56:25Speaker 3: testing for you. They have rebuilt services on all automatic transmissions.
- 56:31Speaker 3: They do manual transmission work. You need to do a
- 56:34Speaker 3: little preventive effort like you do with your automotive engine
- 56:39Speaker 3: to extend the life of your transmission.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Make sure.
- 56:44Speaker 3: If you need service, if you need repair, I always
- 56:47Speaker 3: say it's better to drive yourself in than to be
- 56:50Speaker 3: towed in. But either way, they're going to take care
- 56:53Speaker 3: of you. 2107 Cavett in Bryan. See why they say
- 56:58Speaker 3: no one knows transmissions like we do at Oliver Brothers.
- 57:03Speaker 25: Howdy, Brazos Valley. This is Bubba Dixon, your new farmer's
- 57:06Speaker 25: insurance agent. Many of you know me from my years
- 57:08Speaker 25: in the car business, but now I'm helping families with
- 57:10Speaker 25: their auto, home, life, and business insurance. I've helped many
- 57:14Speaker 25: folks discover they were overinsured, underinsured, or simply paying too much.
- 57:18Speaker 1: When you need insurance.
- 57:19Speaker 25: Advice, talk to a neighbor who knows your name, not
- 57:22Speaker 25: a recording or a call center. Call me, Bubba Dixon,
- 57:24Speaker 25: for a free insurance consultation at 979-340-4145 or stop by
- 57:27Speaker 25: our office at the Rock Prairie exit off of Highway
- 57:28Speaker 25: 6 South.
