- 0:04Speaker 1: Podcast called twenty five whist stocking Foot and they whist
- 0:09Speaker 1: so yes, but what did you expect? It's a podcast
- 0:14Speaker 1: called twenty five Whistles. It's the Wednesday Bonus version of Whistles,
- 0:23Speaker 1: presented by a Draft Kings sports book, an official sports
- 0:26Speaker 1: betting partner of the NFL. Download the Draft Kings app
- 0:29Speaker 1: used the code Bobby sports to get in on the action.
- 0:31Speaker 1: You want to start with justice for Davante. That's right.
- 0:36Speaker 1: You have been saying this after seeing the video, and
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't know. You may have seen it ten million
- 0:39Speaker 1: times a boy the time this posts. Because we recorded
- 0:41Speaker 1: this late Tuesday. The guy walked in front of him.
- 0:44Speaker 1: He didn't see him. There's an angle now where you
- 0:46Speaker 1: see Dvante's walking off the fill with his head down
- 0:50Speaker 1: and his arms come out after he already hits the guy.
- 0:53Speaker 1: So and I can probably pull it up so you
- 0:54Speaker 1: guys can see it on my phone. That does change things.
- 0:56Speaker 1: It absolutely changes things. At first, I was like, why
- 0:58Speaker 1: would he ever do that? Ever, as to the first
- 1:03Speaker 1: angle that I saw, do you want to come look
- 1:04Speaker 1: at it? Yes? Come over here, So I'm gonna show
- 1:07Speaker 1: the video clip here of you guys can both come
- 1:11Speaker 1: and you guys, give me your genuine reaction though, as
- 1:14Speaker 1: you're watching it the first time. So here's Davante walking
- 1:16Speaker 1: off the field. This maybe old news about this time
- 1:19Speaker 1: the big posts, but here you go walking off. Oh
- 1:24Speaker 1: and he got bumped. First Watch it again. Here we
- 1:29Speaker 1: go walking, he didn't see him and run into him
- 1:31Speaker 1: a push. Interesting, tell me that that doesn't change your
- 1:34Speaker 1: complete mind? Heads down, walking boom right into it. It
- 1:37Speaker 1: does look like he walked into a wall and didn't
- 1:39Speaker 1: see Yes. So, and I was shocked when I saw
- 1:44Speaker 1: Davante shoved the dude because I don't know him to
- 1:47Speaker 1: be a dude like that. No, but I know Pete,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I know I know people who who have played with him.
- 1:58Speaker 1: So from what you know, it's like solid dude. That's
- 2:01Speaker 1: what I heard about Davante. So if you watch that video,
- 2:04Speaker 1: does your mind change a little bit? Absolutely? Or all
- 2:07Speaker 1: of it? I would say all a bit, because I mean,
- 2:09Speaker 1: where where was that camera guy going? Was he trying
- 2:11Speaker 1: to cross the trying to get out the way, get
- 2:13Speaker 1: somewhere else because the game was over. Yeah, I don't
- 2:14Speaker 1: think he's being maliciously get hit by a car by
- 2:17Speaker 1: trying to cross the straight real quick correct, and so
- 2:19Speaker 1: you don't go, oh, man, that car hit that human
- 2:21Speaker 1: who jumped across and Jay walked. You go, why did
- 2:24Speaker 1: that person jump across right there when a car was coming.
- 2:26Speaker 1: There was an interesting reaction to Davante when he it's
- 2:29Speaker 1: almost like he saw him last minute and tried to
- 2:32Speaker 1: stop himself. And you can't see from up top that
- 2:35Speaker 1: guy actually bumps into him first with this camera. So again,
- 2:38Speaker 1: by the time this posts, just that may be a
- 2:40Speaker 1: non story, but just no, we were the first one
- 2:42Speaker 1: to scrimp. Just all right, well you guys were. I
- 2:45Speaker 1: convinced you justice for Dan Well, even when I first
- 2:47Speaker 1: saw the video. My take on this is like, these
- 2:49Speaker 1: guys are barbaric athletes right like there. We want them
- 2:53Speaker 1: to be tough, we want them to be angry. So
- 2:55Speaker 1: anytime something like that happens on the field, I'm always
- 2:58Speaker 1: just Or a fan gets beat up because he ran
- 3:00Speaker 1: on the field, well that's that's okay, though that fan
- 3:02Speaker 1: could have been stabbing people. Like if you compare this
- 3:05Speaker 1: to uh Colosseum Roman days, because we have we've done
- 3:09Speaker 1: a lot of work since then, as humans, We've grown medicine,
- 3:14Speaker 1: mental hell, so I can't compare it to that, just
- 3:19Speaker 1: kind of like you want to walk in front of
- 3:20Speaker 1: a football player like that's what you're gonna get. Yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 1: but still we're supposed to be better than that. Well,
- 3:27Speaker 1: we are developed human beings, and so they've played enough
- 3:31Speaker 1: football too to be able to go we lost. Let
- 3:34Speaker 1: me not freak out and start beating people up. They
- 3:35Speaker 1: play football their whole life, from first grade to now,
- 3:39Speaker 1: so they shouldn't be, okay, just punching people in the
- 3:42Speaker 1: face or shoving people or running the people. But yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 1: justice for Davante. Yeah, I'm with you. I say it,
- 3:47Speaker 1: unless it comes out later that this this angle was
- 3:50Speaker 1: the wrong one, and then we'll just pull us from
- 3:52Speaker 1: the whole podcast and I'll in wander to hear it.
- 3:54Speaker 1: There's no justice at all. A couple of things, Mike,
- 3:59Speaker 1: you want we put this up one day. When's the
- 4:02Speaker 1: day we are putting it up? Wednesday? Okay, just making
- 4:04Speaker 1: sure we'll quickly talk about the Monday night game, which
- 4:08Speaker 1: pretty good. It's fantastic, great game. Well, pretty good. You
- 4:11Speaker 1: thought the Raiders may actually win the well, you congratulated
- 4:16Speaker 1: the Raiders for hanging in there. Yeah, I guess I
- 4:18Speaker 1: never really thought they were gonna win. When they were seventeen. Now,
- 4:21Speaker 1: I thought, woll, this might end up like a Colts
- 4:23Speaker 1: Chiefs game where you didn't see it coming so much
- 4:26Speaker 1: that you're not surprised because nobody else saw it coming either,
- 4:28Speaker 1: including the Chiefs. But once the Chiefs started moving the
- 4:31Speaker 1: ball at will, it was like, all right, this is
- 4:34Speaker 1: we know how it's going to end. I know you
- 4:35Speaker 1: jumped on it when it was like Chiefs plus yeah,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I think it was seventeen to zero and I was like, oh,
- 4:41Speaker 1: what's the line? And it was Chiefs plus six, and
- 4:43Speaker 1: I look like a genius in front of my family.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I'm like, watch this boy's dad's about to make some money.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Jumped on it. We're about to do is make more
- 4:50Speaker 1: smiles in France. That's what I'm talking about. That's about
- 4:54Speaker 1: to make some smiles. But you know what, the Chiefs
- 4:57Speaker 1: really didn't have an answer to Josh Jacobs, I mean,
- 4:59Speaker 1: Josh Jacobs do whatever he wanted. That defense, He's run
- 5:02Speaker 1: through them like crazy, he really was. Yeah. Um, and
- 5:05Speaker 1: the Raiders didn't have an answer for Momes, and then
- 5:10Speaker 1: they definitely didn't have an answer for Kelsey. That last
- 5:13Speaker 1: one wide open, wide open, tight ends. I mean listens
- 5:16Speaker 1: a play action pass on the to the one you know.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So sometimes you just commit to the run fully and
- 5:23Speaker 1: there are people open because you're going You're going Madden
- 5:26Speaker 1: are one run and that's when you send to all
- 5:29Speaker 1: the people because you think either there's no chance for
- 5:31Speaker 1: a pass or I got a gamble and makes something happen.
- 5:33Speaker 1: And that's what they were doing there they do. But
- 5:37Speaker 1: enga j you dropped three people back in the blue
- 5:39Speaker 1: deep secondary, so if they throw a bomb, those guys
- 5:42Speaker 1: are still there. But engage. It's all blitzic that for
- 5:44Speaker 1: those three. Let me tell you something I'm insulted by
- 5:46Speaker 1: by the way, I got like four things to say
- 5:49Speaker 1: in a short time to say it. Number one, I'm
- 5:51Speaker 1: gonna play the clip from the Calling cow Heard interview
- 5:53Speaker 1: coming up Friday, which we did yesterday. I love that guy.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Number two, mad Overton's coming on in a second deep
- 5:58Speaker 1: snapper for the Dallas cow Boys, who used to be
- 6:01Speaker 1: an intern for this shows amazing. We know him real
- 6:04Speaker 1: well and he's just he's gone from to a bunch
- 6:06Speaker 1: of teams. He had a good, long career with Colts.
- 6:10Speaker 1: That's when we knew him. In the off season, he
- 6:12Speaker 1: came in and turned for our show, and then he
- 6:14Speaker 1: would go play for the Titans and he go play
- 6:16Speaker 1: as a long snapper. What a story. It should be
- 6:18Speaker 1: a Disney movie. Yeah, especially if he wins a championship.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, the Cowboys won the super Bowl with him,
- 6:23Speaker 1: it's gonna be amazing. He's he's a lucky charm for
- 6:25Speaker 1: this good. So he's gonna be on and talk about
- 6:29Speaker 1: the Cowboys, talking about Jerry Jones, talking about his It's
- 6:31Speaker 1: really cool. That's number two. Number three is I get
- 6:35Speaker 1: insulted when someone ss in me a dumbest crap fantasy
- 6:37Speaker 1: football trade because they think I'm dumbest crap and get accepted,
- 6:41Speaker 1: Like I respect Eddie to the point where I will
- 6:43Speaker 1: not send him a tray just stupid anymore, because then
- 6:45Speaker 1: Eddie will go, well, he doesn't respect me. He thinks
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm stupid enough to fall for this. We actually had
- 6:50Speaker 1: a pretty I think fair trade last week, very very fair.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I had extra on it back and my team is
- 6:56Speaker 1: four and one and I got a real good team,
- 6:59Speaker 1: so I've got some your players. But I traded him
- 7:01Speaker 1: Pollard and I traded him. Yeah, so he's got two
- 7:07Speaker 1: and scantling scored like twelve. They both did great. Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 1: Pollard had double digits as well. And for Kittle who
- 7:12Speaker 1: hasn't performed at all and didn't play great this last week,
- 7:15Speaker 1: but he didn't have a quarter, like throw the ball.
- 7:16Speaker 1: But I was like, that's a risk I can take
- 7:18Speaker 1: because I've been winning. So I'm going to take a
- 7:20Speaker 1: risk on one player hasn't performing. Gonna give aaty two
- 7:22Speaker 1: players that can perform, and if he doesn't want it,
- 7:24Speaker 1: that's great, But I'm not going to offer him a
- 7:27Speaker 1: trade that is a dirty dog trade. When people send
- 7:30Speaker 1: me dirty dog trades, you think I'm an idiot. I
- 7:32Speaker 1: think it's actually gonna hit a button with my thumb, Like,
- 7:34Speaker 1: what's what are you looking for here? It's probably the
- 7:35Speaker 1: same guy that sent sent me a dirty dog. Well,
- 7:37Speaker 1: Mike scigens, since dirty dog trades all times, it's Adam Handbrake,
- 7:42Speaker 1: isn't he? Isn't he Dairy Sanders? No, that's Mike signs.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Oh it is. Yes. As soon as you started saying this,
- 7:50Speaker 1: I'm like that dirty dog gonna be like, well, I
- 7:54Speaker 1: have no control in my thumb. Accept Do you ever
- 7:57Speaker 1: get worried that you will do that? On accident. No, no,
- 8:00Speaker 1: because he's an idiot. Let me read to you this trade.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Let me read the trade. By the way on four
- 8:04Speaker 1: and one. The only game I've lost is to a
- 8:06Speaker 1: five and o team, and it was a pretty pretty
- 8:08Speaker 1: good battle the in there. And I will tell you
- 8:10Speaker 1: he desperately needs a quarterback. So he wants Patrick Mahomes,
- 8:14Speaker 1: a quarterback who's one or two right now, Kwan Barkley
- 8:17Speaker 1: the number one back in football already. What the what
- 8:21Speaker 1: does he have to offer for those two? In St? Brown,
- 8:23Speaker 1: who has got a buy a week this week, played
- 8:25Speaker 1: last week, so he's not injured that I'm on a
- 8:27Speaker 1: kind of a pitch count play count. But he's been killing.
- 8:29Speaker 1: He scored forty for me one week. He scored. He's
- 8:31Speaker 1: the number one guy in Detroit and that high powered offense.
- 8:34Speaker 1: And he's also not injured anymore because he played the
- 8:36Speaker 1: week before the bye, even just limited. This is who
- 8:39Speaker 1: he's offered from Mahomes, Barkley and st. Brown by the way.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Three to take three people from a team that's really
- 8:46Speaker 1: doing great, You're you're just why would I do that
- 8:48Speaker 1: for any reason? To shut my team down? And I
- 8:50Speaker 1: can already tell you he's gonna offer you four players
- 8:53Speaker 1: absolutely to make it look a little But I don't
- 8:56Speaker 1: need more player. I don't need Vor Lawrence. I'm gonna
- 9:01Speaker 1: switch out my homes for Trevor Lawrence. He's so stupid,
- 9:07Speaker 1: like that's the first thing that he wants me to
- 9:09Speaker 1: take Trevor because I would have to play Trevor Lawrences
- 9:12Speaker 1: in that spot. So Trevor Lawrence is number one. Christian McCaffrey,
- 9:17Speaker 1: who okay, draft in the first round. It's always hurt. Now,
- 9:21Speaker 1: it's a good back if you can get him as
- 9:24Speaker 1: for two or three players yourself. But he's not somebody
- 9:26Speaker 1: you want to take a risk on if you're already winning.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I do see Sa Kwana McCaffrey in the same caliber,
- 9:32Speaker 1: except Sa Kwan is actually killing it so far. It's
- 9:34Speaker 1: so far he's doing great. Yes, if they're both injured.
- 9:38Speaker 1: By the way, say Kwan doesn't miss any time a
- 9:40Speaker 1: few plays, because I miss any games even when he
- 9:42Speaker 1: went out already came back in. So okay, I would say, say, okay, um,
- 9:48Speaker 1: my homes far above Lawrence, stay Kwan a little bit
- 9:53Speaker 1: over McCaffrey. Next up, he wants to give me Deebo
- 9:57Speaker 1: Samuel for St. Brown, San Franciscoes. No, throwing the ball
- 10:02Speaker 1: pretty good. He is good. But there again, I would
- 10:05Speaker 1: you have Kittle there and you have a quarterback that's
- 10:07Speaker 1: not throwing the ball. So I wouldn't make that trade
- 10:10Speaker 1: one on one. I wouldn't trade Debo one on one
- 10:13Speaker 1: for St. Brown. That's a preference thing, though, but and
- 10:16Speaker 1: I respect your decision on that. I think some people
- 10:18Speaker 1: would bite it, that for sure. And then finally he
- 10:20Speaker 1: throws in j K. Dobbins. See that's stupid. He's been
- 10:23Speaker 1: trying to load, not give me j K. Dobbins for
- 10:25Speaker 1: three weeks. My team is significantly worse if I take
- 10:27Speaker 1: this trade. Dobbins. Is this dude where he's like, hey,
- 10:31Speaker 1: it's added bonus here, tick Dobbins. We don't want Dobbins.
- 10:34Speaker 1: We don't want and I'm not giving you my Homes'm
- 10:35Speaker 1: not giving you, say Kwan, I'm like giving you the
- 10:37Speaker 1: reason that my team is four and one. And it's
- 10:39Speaker 1: not even about the players. It's about don't treat me
- 10:41Speaker 1: like an idiot, because you're an idiot. I would never
- 10:46Speaker 1: accept this. I'm not want floppy thumbs. The only one
- 10:48Speaker 1: I someone agree on is St. Brown. And there's even
- 10:53Speaker 1: on it. I get it because it's not one for one.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I get but even I wouldn't make that trade one
- 10:57Speaker 1: for one as I'm already four and one. Yeah, you
- 11:01Speaker 1: don't need that trade. I'm definitely not giving up my
- 11:04Speaker 1: homes for Trevor Lawrence. It's it's not even he sent
- 11:10Speaker 1: me one to tell them. We're discussing how stupid at
- 11:12Speaker 1: trades are you want to call fatime? Yeah, I would
- 11:16Speaker 1: love it. I gotta get off this in a second.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Please put them on you like at a meeting I
- 11:20Speaker 1: have to go to. Let's just see if he answered,
- 11:21Speaker 1: then let me see what he sent me. Great proposal,
- 11:26Speaker 1: all right, listen to this one can go to him
- 11:28Speaker 1: and step at the same time. Go ahead, you want
- 11:29Speaker 1: this one he wants Josh Allen, Davonte Smith, Damian Pierce,
- 11:34Speaker 1: and he will give me Alan Robinson, Melvin Gordon McCaffrey
- 11:38Speaker 1: and Trevor Lawrence. Yeah, he's just offering the same garbage
- 11:41Speaker 1: of how you do we're on that we're on right
- 11:44Speaker 1: now recording. Um, we're just talking about how much garbage
- 11:48Speaker 1: Mike sign sends us as trades thinking we're stupid. Yeah,
- 11:54Speaker 1: does he send you trades? Yeah? He thinks, Yeah, that's
- 11:58Speaker 1: what I said. People to send as trades or they
- 12:01Speaker 1: think we're idiots. We like them less just because they
- 12:03Speaker 1: send it because they think, well, that's what I'm like
- 12:07Speaker 1: Mike as a person. Yeah, that's at all a little
- 12:13Speaker 1: hard a lot people to take. Yeah, alright, wow, Okay,
- 12:18Speaker 1: Well Mike Scigence is not answering because he knows he's
- 12:20Speaker 1: under the gun. Who's that? Oh Steve? Okay, he's actually
- 12:23Speaker 1: sounds like he's saying words and he was funny. I
- 12:26Speaker 1: don't like Steve. Yeah, oh we know, all right, buddy,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I hope you have a good daylight. I don't like Signs.
- 12:37Speaker 1: What an idiot? I hate him as a prison all right, Okay,
- 12:41Speaker 1: so here's what we're gonna do. Let me do this,
- 12:45Speaker 1: I mean the DraftKings. Let me do to calling cow Herd.
- 12:48Speaker 1: There's a little clip of a half hour basically do
- 12:50Speaker 1: a calling out Herd. But this is us actually talking
- 12:51Speaker 1: about sports this week. The only part of this was
- 12:53Speaker 1: about current sports. A lot is about him and his
- 12:55Speaker 1: life and his career. I really loved it. But so
- 12:58Speaker 1: let me play this little clip of us talking about
- 13:00Speaker 1: what do we start with the Broncos or rule Matt
- 13:03Speaker 1: rule getting fired in Carolina. So here's a little clip
- 13:05Speaker 1: of Colin Matt ruling Carolina. What was the issue there? Well,
- 13:10Speaker 1: in college football, the coaches seventy percent of it. He's
- 13:14Speaker 1: the GM. He chooses the players, he develops them, he
- 13:17Speaker 1: builds the staff. There is no owner. So if you
- 13:20Speaker 1: go look right now in the SEC, Lane Kiffin is
- 13:23Speaker 1: really good. So was Nick Saban, So was Kirby Smart.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Their teams are good, right, doesn't The quarterback isn't as
- 13:31Speaker 1: big a deal. I mean, Miss Old Miss just lost
- 13:33Speaker 1: a quarterback and they went and found another quarterback. It
- 13:35Speaker 1: revolves around Saban um or or Lane Kiffin in the
- 13:40Speaker 1: Pact twelve best coach by Lincoln Riley or a Chip Kelly. Well,
- 13:43Speaker 1: the teams are good. In the NFL, it's not sevent
- 13:48Speaker 1: the coach. It's seventy percent the quarterback. Because the coach
- 13:50Speaker 1: doesn't choose the players. And Matt never got the right quarterback.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Donald to Baker neither good enough to elevate a rebuilding roster.
- 13:59Speaker 1: So in the NFL, you get Josh Allen, you're just
- 14:03Speaker 1: gonna win games. You get Lamar Jackson, justin Herbert Burrow,
- 14:07Speaker 1: you're gonna win a lot of games. And I mean Belichick,
- 14:12Speaker 1: one with Brady, arians one with Brady. Todd Bowles is
- 14:16Speaker 1: winning with Brady, right, like the coach becomes less significant.
- 14:19Speaker 1: So I just think Matt never got the guy at quarterback.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Do you think he goes to Nebraska or one of
- 14:22Speaker 1: these college or do you think he sits out a
- 14:24Speaker 1: little bit? Well, what I would do? First of all,
- 14:27Speaker 1: he's gonna get a big check. I would go golf
- 14:29Speaker 1: for about four or five months. Um, Wisconsin and Nebraska
- 14:33Speaker 1: I think are be jobs. I think Oklahoma is an
- 14:36Speaker 1: a minus job, but it's a good job. But Oklahoma
- 14:39Speaker 1: is not ok I think, well, I mean Venables, he's
- 14:43Speaker 1: gonna get three years, right, I don't know. I don't
- 14:48Speaker 1: know Oklahoma. Listen, you're moving into the SEC. You can't
- 14:54Speaker 1: mess around here. I mean, go look at the SEC
- 14:56Speaker 1: right now. Kentucky is now good. Um, I mean, look
- 15:04Speaker 1: how much better you feel about Arkansas's roster today? And
- 15:07Speaker 1: they're battling every week? It's just hard and m now
- 15:11Speaker 1: recruiting Bama, Old Miss Florida May Billy Napier. Maybe the
- 15:15Speaker 1: right coach South Carolina is going Who's South Carolina is
- 15:19Speaker 1: going to be pretty good too, Like you can't go
- 15:23Speaker 1: into a conference on back to back terrible seasons depleted rookie.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Remember the transfer portal, Bobby is great if your USC
- 15:31Speaker 1: and building, it's terrible if you're Oklahoma and reelink kids
- 15:35Speaker 1: are gonna stay around forever, especially the offensive players. So
- 15:39Speaker 1: I think you let Venables, you figure out the rest
- 15:41Speaker 1: of the year, and if it doesn't work, you pivot
- 15:43Speaker 1: to offense. You get Matt rule. Um, we all know
- 15:48Speaker 1: this in our business right. If you make a mistake,
- 15:50Speaker 1: own it, don't double down on it, pivot out of
- 15:53Speaker 1: it fast. I think they I think they whipped on
- 15:56Speaker 1: Venables and it happens. Great programs do this. To final questions,
- 16:00Speaker 1: what do you think the biggest issue is in Denver?
- 16:01Speaker 1: And I know Russ has what they said today like
- 16:04Speaker 1: an injury, a shoulder injury. Is it Russ is a
- 16:07Speaker 1: Nathaniel Hackett? Is it a combination or are there belly
- 16:09Speaker 1: no problems They're just figuring it out. I do think
- 16:13Speaker 1: the labor, you know, the lat injury is something. He
- 16:16Speaker 1: went from one of the great deep ball throwers in
- 16:18Speaker 1: the league to horrific in one offseason, So that doesn't
- 16:22Speaker 1: make sense. Also, Nathaniel se coordinators seventy seventy college and
- 16:28Speaker 1: pro either fail or bomb venables looks like a bomb um.
- 16:34Speaker 1: You know, you guys at Arkansas got a guy that
- 16:35Speaker 1: does work. Kirby Smart has worked, but how many how
- 16:38Speaker 1: many of Saban's guys didn't work, how many of Belichick's
- 16:40Speaker 1: guys haven't worked, and they had this proximity to brilliance.
- 16:44Speaker 1: So you know, my takeaway on Nathaniel Hackett is between
- 16:47Speaker 1: Matt Lafleur and Aaron Rodgers. Bobby, what did he really
- 16:51Speaker 1: do in Green Bay? Right? Like, if Kirby Smart, Kirby
- 16:56Speaker 1: Smarts defensive coordinator goes to Oregon, he may work, but
- 17:00Speaker 1: doesn't Kirby run the defense? Really? So I mean, I
- 17:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna trust Russell Wilson in his tenure career, his
- 17:08Speaker 1: Wisconsin career, his North Carolina State career over the Nathaniel Hackett.
- 17:12Speaker 1: So I'd say it's an eight twenty Hackett problem today. Alright,
- 17:15Speaker 1: So the whole interview is gonna be up Friday on

- 18:09Speaker 1: seven seven eight hoping why or text hop and why
- 18:11Speaker 1: for six seven three six nine. Okay, So the next
- 18:14Speaker 1: guy is now the long snapper for the Dallas Cowboys,
- 18:17Speaker 1: which we've been room for the guy for a long
- 18:19Speaker 1: time because we know him. He was playing for the Colts,
- 18:22Speaker 1: called me up like he can I inter for your
- 18:24Speaker 1: show and I'm like, what, You're an NFL player? Goes yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 1: but I like to do that too in the off season.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Is awesome. Yeah, And so he like answered phone, big
- 18:30Speaker 1: dude got paid printed papers and it got his coffee.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Just this is crazy, uh, And then he went back
- 18:37Speaker 1: to playing the NFL after that. It wasn't like he
- 18:38Speaker 1: was like, I want to start a careering radio. He
- 18:40Speaker 1: just did this in the off season and lives in
- 18:42Speaker 1: Nashville now and he also has Eddie references. Don't want
- 18:45Speaker 1: to say too much about it. He started selling houses too. Yeah,
- 18:47Speaker 1: he's a real estate agent and Eddie brought that up
- 18:49Speaker 1: later on. And so here it is. Here is our
- 18:51Speaker 1: our former intern, but now the long snapper for the
- 18:54Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys, Matt Overton. Hey, what is it like, Matt
- 18:58Speaker 1: to get called by a team just randomly going hey,
- 19:02Speaker 1: we need you here in a few Like what is
- 19:03Speaker 1: that process where they go, hey, man, we need you
- 19:05Speaker 1: to come up and we're the Chargers are now it's
- 19:07Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys, get here? And when can you get here?
- 19:10Speaker 1: What is that? Typically? In my situation, man, you uh
- 19:14Speaker 1: kind of can expect a phone call on a Monday
- 19:18Speaker 1: or Tuesday following the games on Sunday. You know, in
- 19:21Speaker 1: this case, there was an injury that occurred unfortunately, and uh,
- 19:25Speaker 1: I got the call from my agent on the Monday afternoon,
- 19:29Speaker 1: just kind of staying stand by, get some bags packed. Um,
- 19:34Speaker 1: looks like you'll be going to Dallas for a workout.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And uh, they called me shortly after that and said,
- 19:40Speaker 1: we're going to book a fly for you and you
- 19:43Speaker 1: may not come back, so we need a guy. So
- 19:46Speaker 1: and in that case, it's kind of like, yeah, let's
- 19:48Speaker 1: let's pack the bags. And this is the at this point,
- 19:51Speaker 1: this is the fourth trip that I've made um so
- 19:55Speaker 1: far this season to a team, and this one, this
- 19:58Speaker 1: opportunity I knew was little bit more significant. Um that
- 20:02Speaker 1: they needed a guy right away. So packed the bags,
- 20:05Speaker 1: kissed the wife and kids goodbye, and flew to Dallas.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And I've been here ever since. So walk us through.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Because we met you when you were a cult and
- 20:13Speaker 1: you spent some seasons with the Colts. Just kind of
- 20:15Speaker 1: walk us through your your NFL career real quick. Uh sure, Yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 1: it's uh so, I'm going on year eleven, which is
- 20:21Speaker 1: incredible to even think, um, considering I went undrafted out
- 20:24Speaker 1: of a small Division two school from Western Washington, UM
- 20:28Speaker 1: that doesn't even have a football team anymore. So, but yeah,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I started my career in two dozen and twelve was
- 20:35Speaker 1: my first official NFL season with the Colts, and I
- 20:38Speaker 1: spent five years there during the time when I met
- 20:41Speaker 1: you guys, that's where I was playing. And then I
- 20:44Speaker 1: got released there in seventeen, and then I went to
- 20:46Speaker 1: Jacksonville that year, played there for two years, um, and
- 20:51Speaker 1: then brought me to the Titans, in which prompted my
- 20:57Speaker 1: wife and I had to move to Nashville like full time.
- 21:00Speaker 1: And then I went to the Chargers last season and
- 21:05Speaker 1: now here I am in Dallas. So it's it's been,
- 21:07Speaker 1: uh Ever since my time in Indy, where I spent
- 21:11Speaker 1: five years, I had a little stability there, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 1: being with the team for multiple years and kind of
- 21:16Speaker 1: calling at home and setting some routes there. Ever since then,
- 21:20Speaker 1: it's been kind of a year to year thing. Um,
- 21:23Speaker 1: it's been a new team, new city. I had to
- 21:26Speaker 1: had to move and make that adjustment, and uh um,
- 21:30Speaker 1: we're just kind of we've been through this before and
- 21:33Speaker 1: we're grateful for the opportunity to be here. And it's
- 21:36Speaker 1: it's pretty wild. I mean, I know Mike and and
- 21:39Speaker 1: all those uh and Eddie and the Dallas Cowboy fans know,
- 21:42Speaker 1: but Jarry's world is a different place, man, So this
- 21:44Speaker 1: experiencing this place is uh, it's pretty wild. Yeah. I
- 21:48Speaker 1: do want to talk about cowboys in a second, but
- 21:49Speaker 1: mostly are you just in like extra good shape right now?
- 21:53Speaker 1: I like to think so. I mean, I honestly, I uh,
- 21:57Speaker 1: I've been training pretty pretty hard. It's yeah, you look
- 22:00Speaker 1: like lean and mean right now. Yeah. Hey man, I'm
- 22:03Speaker 1: I'm I'm the old guy in the in the in
- 22:05Speaker 1: the locker room now, so I gotta I gotta make
- 22:08Speaker 1: sure that uh guys think that I'm still a little
- 22:10Speaker 1: bit younger than I really am. So, uh, I'm thirty
- 22:15Speaker 1: seven now, man, you look good. So at thirty seven,
- 22:19Speaker 1: obviously you're the long snapper. But you still have to
- 22:22Speaker 1: run down and make tackles, right sure. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 22:26Speaker 1: block a block a block a grown man and go
- 22:29Speaker 1: go try to make a tackle. Man. So it's gotta
- 22:32Speaker 1: be athletic. Yeah, that's crazy. Okay, So let's talk about
- 22:34Speaker 1: the Cowboys for a second. Eddie, you die hard? Yeah,
- 22:37Speaker 1: go ahead. Mattio, Hey, I have to apologize first, because
- 22:41Speaker 1: I mean, like he said, we've known Matt since he
- 22:43Speaker 1: played with the Colts and I went to the Jags
- 22:45Speaker 1: and he he was played for the Chargers, played for
- 22:47Speaker 1: the Rams. Uh. I don't think you played for the Rams.
- 22:50Speaker 1: You did a game, right or did you? Did you
- 22:52Speaker 1: join that? I was, I was on the practice squad
- 22:54Speaker 1: earlier this year, you know. Okay, but I've never texted
- 22:59Speaker 1: Matt so much, and I want to apologize because now
- 23:03Speaker 1: I'm watching the games. He's part of the Cowboys nation,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and so now after every game, like Maddie, Maddie, let's
- 23:09Speaker 1: talk a little bit. I'm so excited that you're Cowboys. Dude,
- 23:12Speaker 1: you're a Cowboy. I do want to real quick. I
- 23:15Speaker 1: just feel like you did if I'm in a monologue
- 23:17Speaker 1: and question. But well, here's the here's the question. So
- 23:20Speaker 1: we're watching the game on Sunday, uh, and I'm excited
- 23:22Speaker 1: to have you on the team. And then you know,
- 23:26Speaker 1: Cowboys score and it's time for the extra point and
- 23:28Speaker 1: then it looks like there was a premature snap from
- 23:31Speaker 1: my boy Matt Overton, And I just want to know
- 23:34Speaker 1: we have you on here, Maddie. What happened there? I
- 23:36Speaker 1: mean it was I was definitely a mistake on my
- 23:39Speaker 1: my part, maybe a little a little legitter, you know,
- 23:42Speaker 1: my first game. Uh, really just working on the timing
- 23:46Speaker 1: with these guys here. I've had a few days just
- 23:48Speaker 1: to kind of get acclimated as quickly as possible. And
- 23:51Speaker 1: man I got out there and uh, you know, with
- 23:54Speaker 1: field goal a lot of people don't understand, but with
- 23:56Speaker 1: field goal operation, it's all about timing. And so my
- 23:59Speaker 1: timing was slightly off because I can't see the kicker
- 24:03Speaker 1: or or most of the holder when I'm in my stance,
- 24:06Speaker 1: and I just based it off of a kind of
- 24:08Speaker 1: a snap count. Um, And man I I miss cute
- 24:12Speaker 1: that one big time. So not the greatest stars as
- 24:16Speaker 1: a Dallas cowboy. Um, But bounce back and try to
- 24:22Speaker 1: keep my composure the entire time and just go out
- 24:24Speaker 1: there and finish strong. What do they say to you
- 24:28Speaker 1: whenever they fly you in and and are you compete?
- 24:31Speaker 1: Because you're about on flying kickers in there. They've they've
- 24:33Speaker 1: brought four kickers in there competing for the job. Is
- 24:35Speaker 1: that what happened with you was that you and other
- 24:37Speaker 1: other long snappers? Well, what's that? Like? What? Yeah, what happens? Yeah?
- 24:43Speaker 1: Typically they I mean the reality is there's not a
- 24:45Speaker 1: lot of us on the street that are available. Um.
- 24:48Speaker 1: And then when it comes to like guys with experience, UM,
- 24:52Speaker 1: there's not It's even even less so in my position,
- 24:56Speaker 1: you know, going into the season as a free agent,
- 24:58Speaker 1: who has you know, tay years of experience. When you
- 25:02Speaker 1: look at the list of guys, you know, I'm like
- 25:03Speaker 1: one of maybe two guys that are available to have
- 25:06Speaker 1: the experience. A lot of guys are young, uh inexperienced,
- 25:10Speaker 1: and so they typically will will bring a group of
- 25:13Speaker 1: guys in you know, five, you know, three to five guys,
- 25:17Speaker 1: and there'll be a couple of veterans like myself mixed
- 25:19Speaker 1: in there with some young guys. UM. And this situation here,
- 25:23Speaker 1: since it's you know, kind of mid season, most teams
- 25:27Speaker 1: UM would lean to have an experienced guy over over
- 25:31Speaker 1: a young guy. Not saying that the young guys aren't
- 25:33Speaker 1: as good, because there's some really good talent UM, but
- 25:36Speaker 1: I think it just favors someone like me that has
- 25:39Speaker 1: the game day experience, who's who's been through the you know,
- 25:44Speaker 1: the grind and all that kind of stuff of the season.
- 25:46Speaker 1: So I did really well in my workout, have some
- 25:49Speaker 1: familiarity with the coach here, and um, yeah, I got
- 25:53Speaker 1: got the nod after the workout and they signed me
- 25:56Speaker 1: on on Wednesday. Do you get to keep the helmet
- 25:59Speaker 1: for every team you played? That's a good question. Every
- 26:01Speaker 1: team that I play. I I do keep my helmet.
- 26:03Speaker 1: However they do charge you. Um, depends on what kind
- 26:09Speaker 1: of model you have. There's different models. But I would say,
- 26:12Speaker 1: like maybe I don't know, five hundred bucks, I'd get one,
- 26:18Speaker 1: but I kind of now there's you know, you can
- 26:21Speaker 1: go get there the replicause that Dick Sporting good for
- 26:23Speaker 1: about not not the not the real deal. Have you
- 26:26Speaker 1: met Jerry Jones? I have not, but he gave an
- 26:30Speaker 1: epic postgame speech and locker room so, uh, I've been
- 26:34Speaker 1: in close quarters with him and and uh apparently guys
- 26:38Speaker 1: are a little uh uh kind of star struck around
- 26:41Speaker 1: him a little bit if you don't know him, and
- 26:44Speaker 1: because he does carry kind of that aura and that
- 26:46Speaker 1: kind of celebrity. Um, but he's here every single day. Um,
- 26:50Speaker 1: I mean it's like I said, it's different in Jerry's world.
- 26:53Speaker 1: You really are in like our own little bubble over
- 26:56Speaker 1: here in Frisco, Texas. So, um, it's pretty cool. And uh,
- 27:01Speaker 1: I mean it's one of those things where I've been with,
- 27:04Speaker 1: you know, some good teams, but you know, when you
- 27:07Speaker 1: have you're wearing that starts, it takes it up a
- 27:10Speaker 1: few notches. And and the facility here is like a museum. Man.
- 27:14Speaker 1: It's it's crazy. And there's like there's like tours going
- 27:18Speaker 1: on while you're practicing, so there's like random groups of
- 27:20Speaker 1: people that come in and nowt um, they're like, I mean,
- 27:23Speaker 1: it's it's wild. It's it's just completely different. And uh
- 27:27Speaker 1: so it's really really cool to experience kind of like
- 27:30Speaker 1: the stardom of you know, historic franchise like the Cowboys.
- 27:34Speaker 1: He invited me to come to his personal guest and
- 27:37Speaker 1: do some stuff with them in December. So I'm gonna
- 27:39Speaker 1: come up. You gotta do it. I'm gonna try out
- 27:41Speaker 1: for Deep for the Deep Snapper two No no, no,
- 27:43Speaker 1: when you go, that's Matt's job. Hey, So could you
- 27:47Speaker 1: Let's say the center goes down and they're like, oh
- 27:51Speaker 1: my god, we don't have another center. Absolutely no chance.
- 27:54Speaker 1: We got a deep snapper. What does line the line
- 27:57Speaker 1: rush or dak back like six more yards? Could you?
- 28:00Speaker 1: Could you be a center as well? No? No chance,
- 28:03Speaker 1: no chance. I would get absolutely destroyed by Aaron Donald. Yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 1: We agree. It's like last minute, like last minute and
- 28:12Speaker 1: always alright, alright, what here's a generic culture question. Walking
- 28:20Speaker 1: into different locker rooms, do the cultures all feel different?
- 28:25Speaker 1: And if so, are some drastically different? Yeah? Um, I'll
- 28:30Speaker 1: give you a perfect example. You go from a winning
- 28:33Speaker 1: culture to a losing culture. And I'm not gonna name
- 28:36Speaker 1: any names from my experiences, but um, you go from
- 28:40Speaker 1: a winning culture UM to a losing and it's completely different. Um.
- 28:45Speaker 1: You when you're in a winning culture and the standards
- 28:49Speaker 1: really really high, UM, there's kind of just that that
- 28:53Speaker 1: expectation that is that is just there, it's known. Um,
- 28:57Speaker 1: there's like continuity in that locker room. There's leadership. Not
- 29:00Speaker 1: to say that it's not leadership in every locker room,
- 29:02Speaker 1: because there is, but it's just in different ways. UM.
- 29:05Speaker 1: And then when you go to a place like this
- 29:08Speaker 1: UM where winning is expected, um, and you know the
- 29:12Speaker 1: Lombardi trophy is something that they go after like legitimately
- 29:16Speaker 1: every single year. Um. You could just you could just
- 29:19Speaker 1: feel it, you know. So I've been in locker rooms
- 29:20Speaker 1: where you know, it's it's pretty common to lose, um,
- 29:25Speaker 1: and the expectation isn't as high. Um. And then maybe
- 29:29Speaker 1: you know, there's a new head coach every couple of years,
- 29:31Speaker 1: and so that the turnovers you know, you know, pretty
- 29:34Speaker 1: pretty uh common every single year with like roster turnover,
- 29:38Speaker 1: new coaches, all kind of stuff, um. And so there's definitely, uh,
- 29:42Speaker 1: there's definitely different levels to it. So when you're in
- 29:46Speaker 1: a locker room, and obviously I don't want you to
- 29:48Speaker 1: name any names or even indicate anything specific, but we
- 29:52Speaker 1: root as fans and are all our eggs in the
- 29:55Speaker 1: basket of our teams. We live and die with them.
- 29:57Speaker 1: I'm guilty of this as well. You are too as
- 29:58Speaker 1: a fan of different things. Are there ever just players
- 30:01Speaker 1: that are like, I don't care if I want to lose,
- 30:02Speaker 1: I'm just trying to get my check. Um. Yeah, yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 1: for sure, I think there's you know, you have you know,
- 30:08Speaker 1: seventy guys on a on a football roster. Fifty three
- 30:11Speaker 1: of those guys are active and you know there's guys
- 30:14Speaker 1: that you know, just play their career and and as
- 30:17Speaker 1: they get older, maybe maybe winning is not as important
- 30:20Speaker 1: as it once was and um, or maybe maybe they've
- 30:24Speaker 1: already won and it's just they they've they've got that
- 30:27Speaker 1: ring and you know, they like they say and that
- 30:29Speaker 1: it's just the phrases chasing the bag, you know, chasing
- 30:33Speaker 1: the bag of money, and they get the money and
- 30:35Speaker 1: they're good, you know, and maybe maybe just their passionate
- 30:38Speaker 1: their fire kind of dwindles over time. UM. And then
- 30:41Speaker 1: those guys that have just continued to chase it every
- 30:44Speaker 1: single year, you know. UM. And so I would I
- 30:48Speaker 1: would definitely say there's there, there is that UM. But
- 30:52Speaker 1: I think those guys don't last very long. I mean,
- 30:56Speaker 1: if you're only in it for the money, UM, I
- 31:00Speaker 1: don't know why you put your you know, if you're
- 31:03Speaker 1: an offensive alignment for instance, you know, I don't know
- 31:05Speaker 1: why you'd put your body through that, um yere any
- 31:08Speaker 1: year out if you have no passion for the game. UM.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And so I think I think those guys eventually will
- 31:15Speaker 1: will fizzle out if there is no no passion to
- 31:19Speaker 1: or desire to want to be better or help the
- 31:21Speaker 1: team win. So but um, you know, once the guys,
- 31:24Speaker 1: once they get their bag, man, it kind of they
- 31:26Speaker 1: just check out. And I mean, I don't blame them,
- 31:29Speaker 1: I get it, but um, you know, I think those
- 31:33Speaker 1: guys get weeded out fast. And the first time I
- 31:35Speaker 1: got I'll call it my bag, I was like, Dang,
- 31:39Speaker 1: I work hard and get a bigger bag. Dang, I
- 31:41Speaker 1: work hard to get a bigger bag, and then give
- 31:42Speaker 1: away this bag. Like I I understand, alright, Like I understand,
- 31:47Speaker 1: I just don't relate to that mindset. I guess. Um.
- 31:52Speaker 1: But on the other side, we have three final questions
- 31:54Speaker 1: for you, and do you save your Dallas Cowboys question?
- 31:56Speaker 1: I haven't kind of you, I have another one. You're
- 31:58Speaker 1: closing the show with their third final questions. Good like Eddie.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Eddie hit me with a positivity question. Don't we don't
- 32:05Speaker 1: need to relive in you know, the dark moments of
- 32:08Speaker 1: one play. And I know the nation was wondering, Matt,
- 32:10Speaker 1: That's why I was asking. On the opposite side of that,
- 32:13Speaker 1: On the positive side, who you've seen at practice and
- 32:18Speaker 1: they're the opposite. They are so dedicated, they have a
- 32:21Speaker 1: fire in them that is probably bigger than the bag.
- 32:25Speaker 1: They're getting in their bag is still big? Who is
- 32:27Speaker 1: that that you've seen you like, God, dang, that's crazy.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Like how dedicated they are specifically on this team or
- 32:33Speaker 1: just in general. From your years of playing in the league,
- 32:37Speaker 1: who have you looked at it been like in admiration
- 32:38Speaker 1: of they are dedicated, they are focused, and they're always
- 32:42Speaker 1: ready to go. I mean, I would have to say
- 32:46Speaker 1: Adam Vince Terry just because I mean he's the greatest obviously,
- 32:50Speaker 1: way is Justin Tucker the greatest? Now? Or is Adam
- 32:52Speaker 1: Vinitterry the greatest? I think, Um, Justin Tucker is is
- 32:59Speaker 1: the best in the league. There's no question he's going
- 33:01Speaker 1: to be in the Hall of Fame for sure. Um
- 33:05Speaker 1: but I think in statistically he'll probably be better than
- 33:08Speaker 1: anybody including Vinitary and those guys that are I think
- 33:13Speaker 1: Morten Anderson, who's in the Hall of Fame. Um. But
- 33:17Speaker 1: you know, I think when you think of like iconic
- 33:19Speaker 1: kicks and the kicks that really matter, snowick, I mean,
- 33:25Speaker 1: I don't think you can ever, you know, duplicate that.
- 33:29Speaker 1: And uh, I mean not to not to discredit what
- 33:31Speaker 1: Tuck is doing, because he's incredible. The guy's machine and
- 33:34Speaker 1: he's the best in the league. But my goat is
- 33:39Speaker 1: always minitary, always will be. Yeah, I don't think anyone
- 33:41Speaker 1: thinks you're discrediting anyone. I mean you can it's hard
- 33:43Speaker 1: to argue Vinitarry isn't the greatest of all time because
- 33:45Speaker 1: of the big kicks that he's made. I mean, people
- 33:47Speaker 1: would compare that snow kick to like my second dance
- 33:49Speaker 1: on Daswing with the Stars. You know, it was just tough.
- 33:51Speaker 1: The elements weren't there. You had to perform athletics. Uh, eddie,
- 33:56Speaker 1: what is your We have two questions left? You get
- 33:58Speaker 1: a cowboy question? Go ahead, all right. At So when
- 34:01Speaker 1: you look at old video clips of the Cowboys when
- 34:03Speaker 1: Jimmy Johnson was there, this locker room speeches at the end,
- 34:06Speaker 1: that's it's really were like, how about them Cowboys came
- 34:09Speaker 1: from and they've got I mean, the the energy of
- 34:11Speaker 1: that locker room after those games was like amazing. And
- 34:14Speaker 1: now you watch TikTok and you see almost the same
- 34:18Speaker 1: vibe in the Dallas Cowboys locker room after these few weeks.
- 34:21Speaker 1: What are you seen in there? Do you see the
- 34:23Speaker 1: same kind of energy coming from this Dallas Cowboys team? Well, dude,
- 34:26Speaker 1: I gotta take it back. But I grew up a
- 34:28Speaker 1: Niner fan, so every year it seemed like the Niners
- 34:31Speaker 1: and the Cowboys would play each other in the NFC Championship,
- 34:35Speaker 1: And so I despised the Cowboys. Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman,
- 34:42Speaker 1: I mean I did, I even though they were great.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I was a Niner fan, man, Jerry Rice, Steve Young
- 34:46Speaker 1: and always going after the boys, you know, but uh no,
- 34:50Speaker 1: I mean there's always been that respect level from Afar
- 34:53Speaker 1: just you know, playing against them and kind of seeing
- 34:56Speaker 1: you know what the organization is a little about, not
- 34:58Speaker 1: only from not just from being kid watching watching games
- 35:01Speaker 1: all the time, but there's always been some sort of
- 35:04Speaker 1: respect and admiration for the Cowboys. And obviously, um, you know,
- 35:08Speaker 1: you know who Jerry, Most people know who Jerry Jones is. Um.
- 35:12Speaker 1: You you look at all the iconic coaches that they've had,
- 35:14Speaker 1: um since back in the day. Um, and then you
- 35:19Speaker 1: you talk about those uh those speeches, man, and uh,
- 35:23Speaker 1: you know how about them Cowboys has always been kind
- 35:25Speaker 1: of that tagline at the very very end. Um. And
- 35:28Speaker 1: you know, I've only I've only been here for a
- 35:30Speaker 1: couple of coffee, man, So I haven't been here very long,
- 35:32Speaker 1: but I can tell with coach McCarthy and just the
- 35:36Speaker 1: coaches that they have here, Dan Coin, the de coordinator, UM,
- 35:41Speaker 1: John Fossil or special teams coach Ak Bones, like they
- 35:44Speaker 1: just have like this. There's just like this kind of
- 35:47Speaker 1: aura right now that's going around that even though we
- 35:50Speaker 1: don't have dak at at quarterback, you got you know,
- 35:52Speaker 1: Cooper rush back there, you know five and oh as
- 35:55Speaker 1: a starter. Um, the defense is playing lights out. There's
- 35:58Speaker 1: just like something you can you really can't put your
- 36:02Speaker 1: finger on it sometimes, but there's just like that vibe
- 36:04Speaker 1: that you just feel like the confidence is through the
- 36:06Speaker 1: roof right now. I know it's a long season, but
- 36:09Speaker 1: after this win in that locker room, I feel like
- 36:13Speaker 1: there was this like maybe like this little turning point
- 36:15Speaker 1: where all right, you know, we're four on one. We
- 36:18Speaker 1: just beat another tough team on the road, that defending uh,
- 36:21Speaker 1: you know, super Bowl champions on the road, our defensive
- 36:23Speaker 1: lights out, we have our backup quarterback. UM, it's almost
- 36:27Speaker 1: like the the sky's the limit once that gets back
- 36:32Speaker 1: and I think this team is gonna roll. And so
- 36:35Speaker 1: that that that speech after the game this past weekend
- 36:38Speaker 1: was was very similar to what you're talking about. Um,
- 36:40Speaker 1: because Jerry Jones was in the middle of it, and
- 36:43Speaker 1: uh he kind of broke us down as a team
- 36:45Speaker 1: and and uh man, it was it was. It was
- 36:48Speaker 1: pretty pretty fire fire to be a part of that
- 36:50Speaker 1: for my very first time. My final question, I just
- 36:52Speaker 1: got chills. Okay, it relaxed like I just got a boner.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I don't know, I didn't say, but yeah, but we
- 36:58Speaker 1: know that's why you met. Oh boy. So here this
- 37:02Speaker 1: is what I want to say. Final question. So at
- 37:04Speaker 1: the end of the game, we see a lot of
- 37:05Speaker 1: the jersey swapping. Now you know, soccer did it forever
- 37:08Speaker 1: and now we said a lot of an NFL players
- 37:09Speaker 1: doing it. What's the rule? Could you call it like
- 37:11Speaker 1: you're playing the Eagles next week? Do you have to
- 37:13Speaker 1: do someone on special teams? Or could you be like
- 37:16Speaker 1: Jalen Hurt if I can have his jersey, Like what's
- 37:18Speaker 1: the rule? Because that I would just aim high and
- 37:20Speaker 1: then slowly fall down with this person that said no.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I mean, so, first of all, it's pretty crazy because
- 37:26Speaker 1: there's some teams that have rules about jersey swap because
- 37:29Speaker 1: you gotta think about, like for someone like me, the
- 37:31Speaker 1: long snapper. You know, my my jersey, My jersey doesn't
- 37:34Speaker 1: get like torn and ripped like maybe the running backs does,
- 37:37Speaker 1: right or the linebackers. So those guys have like maybe
- 37:42Speaker 1: ten uh jerseys of every single color for the season,
- 37:47Speaker 1: maybe maybe even more. But maybe I only have one
- 37:50Speaker 1: duplicate so if I give away my jersey, only have
- 37:53Speaker 1: one left and they have to pre order some. More So,
- 37:57Speaker 1: when jersey swapping became like a big deal, like teams
- 38:00Speaker 1: were finding guys like bucks for the swap in their
- 38:04Speaker 1: jersey because they don't have another replacement for those guys
- 38:07Speaker 1: as we're paying Bucks to swap, which in my mind
- 38:11Speaker 1: wasn't really worth it unless you just absolutely had to
- 38:14Speaker 1: do it. But now it's so common that, um, a
- 38:17Speaker 1: little veteran move is to go into the if you
- 38:19Speaker 1: know that you're gonna swap with guys, like you look
- 38:21Speaker 1: at the schedule, I'm gonna swap with my boy Matt here,
- 38:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna do this, that and the other. You go
- 38:26Speaker 1: in early in the year be like, hey, listen, I'm
- 38:28Speaker 1: gonna swap five jersey this year. Charge me uh for
- 38:33Speaker 1: five jerseys at the cost of what a jersey is
- 38:35Speaker 1: like three bucks and I'm just gonna swap out those jerseys.
- 38:39Speaker 1: It may not be the game War one, but I'll
- 38:42Speaker 1: have one replaced, a replacent jersey. I'll swap with guys
- 38:45Speaker 1: and then that's typically what I do. But to answer
- 38:47Speaker 1: your question too, about like who you asked I when
- 38:50Speaker 1: I was with I'll go back to Venitary. When I
- 38:52Speaker 1: was with Vinitary, there was guys like of all positions
- 38:57Speaker 1: that came up to Vinitary asking for a jersey swap
- 38:59Speaker 1: and thought that was the coolest thing ever. Um. But
- 39:02Speaker 1: like for someone like me to go up to yeah,
- 39:04Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts or a J. Brown, But hey, dude, I
- 39:07Speaker 1: don't you don't know me, but can you you want
- 39:09Speaker 1: to swap my jersey? You want to swap, let's make
- 39:11Speaker 1: it happen. And you would be It would be embarrassing
- 39:14Speaker 1: because they would probably just strug it off and laughing
- 39:16Speaker 1: and tell me to kick rocks. I do. I do
- 39:20Speaker 1: swap jerseys with the Snappers though. That's kind of our little,
- 39:23Speaker 1: like little small fraternity thing. If if I'm good buddies
- 39:26Speaker 1: with the Snapper all, I'll swap jerseys for sure, and
- 39:29Speaker 1: and we we've we've done that in the past or
- 39:32Speaker 1: you know, I've done it with you know, Ben Terry
- 39:34Speaker 1: when I played against him, and you know guys that
- 39:37Speaker 1: I've I've been friends with, So that's that's pretty common.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Like Andy, Reid and Belichick would just swap hoodies. They're
- 39:44Speaker 1: shirtless at the game, which they're holding it up, nipples
- 39:48Speaker 1: out chest, hair, aren't like, all right, it's my guy here. Yeah,
- 39:54Speaker 1: Like I don't know, I don't know who want to
- 39:55Speaker 1: see Andy read like that, Hey listen for that would
- 39:58Speaker 1: be awesome. Hey, we're dude, we're pumped for you. Well,
- 40:01Speaker 1: I'm always like, you know, sometimes you have friends and
- 40:05Speaker 1: buddies who you don't talk to that often, but you
- 40:06Speaker 1: watch them so much of social media that you feel
- 40:08Speaker 1: like you know what's going on. And when you were
- 40:10Speaker 1: the Chargers, I was watching you in the locker. I
- 40:12Speaker 1: mean when we were talking about getting you on, I
- 40:14Speaker 1: was like, I don't know how long it's missed up
- 40:16Speaker 1: talked to you because I feel like I've just been
- 40:17Speaker 1: kind of um consumed in what you go through every year.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I guess you and I have talked whenever I was
- 40:23Speaker 1: interviewed a guy that you knew h for a job
- 40:25Speaker 1: that I had here. But we're just so we're proud
- 40:28Speaker 1: for you and it's awesome, like and aside from football, like,
- 40:31Speaker 1: you are someone who represents like and your hat says
- 40:35Speaker 1: it to stay ready, like just go to work and
- 40:39Speaker 1: do the work, and eventually you get a call and
- 40:43Speaker 1: if you don't, well you are ready if you ever
- 40:45Speaker 1: got it. And so just just proud to see the
- 40:48Speaker 1: effort in the grind. And Eddie's proud that you're a cowboy,
- 40:51Speaker 1: I mean realized that's awesome. I mean my friends of
- 40:53Speaker 1: freaking Dallas cowboy like, it's amazing. I've told everyone, by
- 40:56Speaker 1: the way, Matt that you're a cowboy now and you're
- 40:58Speaker 1: my friend, and they're all looking at too, and he's
- 40:59Speaker 1: never talked about you more than right now. Hey, let's
- 41:02Speaker 1: let we gotta get you out to a game. Man,
- 41:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna bring them out when we do come up,
- 41:06Speaker 1: when I come thro with jail, I'm gonna bring Eddie.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Don't forget to Matt's still selling houses, so are you still?
- 41:10Speaker 1: Like how are you showing houses while you were playing
- 41:12Speaker 1: for the back? Real quick for us? Showing down on
- 41:15Speaker 1: Third Street. And I'll tell you if you've got time.
- 41:18Speaker 1: I got a quick little story about last year how
- 41:20Speaker 1: how crazy it was. So I was like kind of full,
- 41:22Speaker 1: full blown in the real estate there in Nashville. And
- 41:26Speaker 1: at the time. At the time I was helping the
- 41:30Speaker 1: long stamper for the Chargers, I was helping his family
- 41:34Speaker 1: relocate from California to Nashville, and I was um showing
- 41:40Speaker 1: them houses all over the place. We ended up finding
- 41:43Speaker 1: places in Murphy's Borough for them. But I'm not kidding, man,
- 41:46Speaker 1: that the day their son got hurt, the Charges called me,
- 41:52Speaker 1: and I felt so awkward. I called, you know, the
- 41:55Speaker 1: parents and said, hey, listen, I don't know if you
- 41:57Speaker 1: know this, but the Charges are signing me coincidentally. Um.
- 42:03Speaker 1: I didn't want to be Yeah, I didn't want the
- 42:05Speaker 1: relationship to spoil or them to be upset about it.
- 42:08Speaker 1: And they were the nicest people. But I'm not kidding you.
- 42:11Speaker 1: The day that the Charges called me, they said, can
- 42:14Speaker 1: you be on a flight at like five pm? And dude,
- 42:16Speaker 1: I had showings, man. I had to go out. I
- 42:18Speaker 1: had to drive four or five minutes to Murphy's Borough
- 42:20Speaker 1: show some houses. And I told my agents I have
- 42:22Speaker 1: to go show these houses before I got on a plane.
- 42:25Speaker 1: That's my due diligence through my clients and I did that,
- 42:29Speaker 1: and um, the one house that I showed was the
- 42:32Speaker 1: house that we put an offer and for this family
- 42:34Speaker 1: and it and it worked out where they got an
- 42:36Speaker 1: accepted offer. So it was like it was a crazy
- 42:39Speaker 1: kind of a series of events last year where you know,
- 42:41Speaker 1: like you said, I was showing houses in the midst
- 42:43Speaker 1: of getting signed to a team and moving and and
- 42:46Speaker 1: I still do it from afar. So I have a
- 42:48Speaker 1: nice little team there in Nashville, and if they need
- 42:50Speaker 1: to help wherever they can, then I just had them
- 42:53Speaker 1: do a showing or But right now I do it
- 42:55Speaker 1: very very very part time. He's showing house to family
- 42:59Speaker 1: and injuring their son. If I can have a job
- 43:01Speaker 1: at the same time, the guy can do it all.
- 43:02Speaker 1: He can do it all at the same time. Hey,
- 43:05Speaker 1: we're really we're really proud for you, Matt, and thank you.
- 43:07Speaker 1: I appreciate that, seriously. Keep it up and I'm sure
- 43:10Speaker 1: we'll talk to you. We'll watch you and we'll talk
- 43:13Speaker 1: to you soon. All right, buddy, I appreciate you. Bobby,
- 43:15Speaker 1: all right, Eddie, Matt over to see you, buddy. All right.
- 43:18Speaker 1: That's that. Thank you guys for hanging out. That is
- 43:21Speaker 1: the Wednesday Midweek show. Here any quick thought anything you
- 43:25Speaker 1: want to say? Yeah, Eddie, is there a better tight
- 43:29Speaker 1: end than Travis Kelsey? Especially fantasy? Like, is there any
- 43:33Speaker 1: tight end worth? I have them? I plan two leagues.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I hate planning two leagues, but I have them because
- 43:38Speaker 1: they left him and I took him late in the
- 43:40Speaker 1: second round. I was like, if you guys just gonna
- 43:41Speaker 1: leave crazy. I didn't plan to take them, but if
- 43:42Speaker 1: you're just gonna leave them, I'll take them. The greatest
- 43:44Speaker 1: thing ever did. When you draft, tight ends are usually
- 43:46Speaker 1: in the back of your mind. When am I gonna
- 43:48Speaker 1: get a tight end? No, Travis Kelsey needs to go
- 43:50Speaker 1: a sap. Okay, here's Mike signs again. Let me see
- 43:53Speaker 1: if I can get them on my homes. For Trevor Lawrence,
- 43:57Speaker 1: what I called him? I tried a FaceTime remember birth? Yeah?
- 44:00Speaker 1: But then he said who yeah? Because we all I
- 44:02Speaker 1: tried to FaceTime all together. That's him. Terrible person. I
- 44:07Speaker 1: don't know this Mike scigened guys, but I don't like
- 44:09Speaker 1: him either. He's like one of our closest brands. We
- 44:13Speaker 1: just dog on him all the time. Here's my final thought,
- 44:17Speaker 1: Mike Siens, I love it, idiot, idiot? Are you like
- 44:20Speaker 1: an answer now? See in class Tuesday. Hey, you're on,
- 44:31Speaker 1: You're on right now, So don't say anything that's gonna
- 44:33Speaker 1: get you in trouble. Yeah, but we're sitting here on
- 44:35Speaker 1: the podcast talking about how you just in garbage trades
- 44:37Speaker 1: because you think we're garbage and idiots. And I went
- 44:39Speaker 1: to the whole trade that you sent me, which is
- 44:41Speaker 1: a complete joke, and that's how you value us as people.
- 44:43Speaker 1: I think we're gonna accept something so stupid. No, not
- 44:48Speaker 1: at all. Um. I feel like I gave you the
- 44:51Speaker 1: best player in the league, Christi McAffrey. He's not take
- 44:55Speaker 1: one and number one back in the NFL right now,
- 44:56Speaker 1: number one scoring back buddy Buddy on a four and
- 45:00Speaker 1: one team, number one back. McCaffrey doesn't even have a
- 45:03Speaker 1: quarterback now. A lot of teams you can't win a
- 45:05Speaker 1: game and it's hurt. And he's still putting up top
- 45:08Speaker 1: five number okay, top five, put up number one. And
- 45:10Speaker 1: you try to give me Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes. It
- 45:14Speaker 1: seems like a solid deal to me. It's a terrible
- 45:19Speaker 1: car salesman. Okay, anything you want to say, Um, these
- 45:24Speaker 1: are all just this launching points. So if you're interested
- 45:26Speaker 1: in Caffrey, you know I'm interested in in my homes
- 45:30Speaker 1: and I'm not. I'm not giving you my homes or
- 45:32Speaker 1: sake one the reason why team is four and one, Well,
- 45:34Speaker 1: you don't give them to me, you trade them to
- 45:36Speaker 1: me better pieces. You don't have any better Trevor Lawrence,
- 45:39Speaker 1: Let's have Josh Allen. That's all right, buddy, you saw right?
- 45:43Speaker 1: All right? Love you all right? There he is. I
- 45:45Speaker 1: love you thought. You know what though, I do have
- 45:48Speaker 1: Josh Allen, so I can trade him, then he can trade.
- 45:50Speaker 1: You can try Josh Allen for Trevor Lawrence. Do not
- 45:53Speaker 1: do that. We need to figure out on the NFL
- 45:57Speaker 1: needs to figure out this whole rough of the password
- 45:59Speaker 1: thing happened again on the game last night. Pretty bad.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Just overreaction to everything that happened to you. That right,
- 46:05Speaker 1: it's the same thing. And then like you said, we're
- 46:07Speaker 1: saying it's going to even out at some point, but
- 46:08Speaker 1: I'm just tired of looking at Twitter argue over it. Well,
- 46:11Speaker 1: the pendulum swings very hard both ways, and so now
- 46:14Speaker 1: we're on that edge and it'll find itself. And everybody's like,
- 46:16Speaker 1: I can't believe it. Well, yeah you should, because the
- 46:17Speaker 1: reps are being told we have to protect our most
- 46:21Speaker 1: valuable asset. You can't have both, that's right, you can't
- 46:23Speaker 1: have both. There's a reason. When I come to work,
- 46:26Speaker 1: security meets me out and it sports me in, and
- 46:28Speaker 1: when Eddie gets here, they're like, oh, we don't go
- 46:30Speaker 1: there's no secure good luck, good luck getting in. I
- 46:32Speaker 1: have to call someone like, can someone let me in? Exactly?
- 46:35Speaker 1: You know, life comes at you that way sometimes. All right,
- 46:38Speaker 1: we'll see you guys on Friday. By everybody,
