Bus Crash Driver Pleads Guilty | Albany News
A Queens bus driver, Bin Shao, has pleaded guilty to five felony counts of criminally negligent homicide after a deadly crash on the New York State Thruway last year that killed five people. The bus, carrying 54 passengers from Niagara Falls to NYC, swerved into oncoming traffic and flipped — with no evidence of impairment or mechanical failure. Shao claimed a water bottle near his feet caused the loss of control, while investigators noted the bus had only 59 seat belts for 61 seats. He now faces 1 to 4 years in prison.
