- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermind, set coach, creative strategist, and also
- 0:09happen to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. So we are actually out already.
- 0:32You know, obviously chickens are out.
- 0:33You can hear everything off in the distance, hens laying eggs
- 0:37and it's kind of a drizzly later morning here.
- 0:41And one of the things that I love about these days that are
- 0:45rainy days, Have you ever noticed that when you get a
- 0:47rainy day, all of a sudden you get permission to just kind of
- 0:52do the things that you wouldn't normally do?
- 0:55Like you wouldn't be on that like highly paced, get
- 1:00everything done path that you might normally be on on another
- 1:04day. Well, I can tell you for sure I
- 1:06feel that way. So when it becomes Gray and
- 1:09hazy, one of the greatest things for me is that I can get out and
- 1:13do the things that I couldn't do at certain times of the day,
- 1:16meaning wedding or chores that would in the blazing sun.
- 1:21I just can't do them because it's just too hot here.
- 1:25But on grey days, it makes me feel like, oh wow, I could go do
- 1:29that. Or I could just run to the
- 1:31garden center and spend even more time walking through before
- 1:34it gets too hot looking for the stuff that I really want.
- 1:37Because I've got window boxes to do on the chicken coop.
- 1:40I've got their little hide wagon that I got window boxes put on
- 1:44the sides of and I want to do those and stairs with buckets
- 1:48that have, you know, some caladium in the right now, but I
- 1:52haven't added any other plants to it.
- 1:55I've just, you know, it's been a very, very hectic 6 months,
- 1:59first five months of the year, right?
- 2:01Like it's been very, very hectic even the last month of last
- 2:05year, super hectic. And so the all of a sudden when
- 2:08these days show up, I mean, it's just a day, right?
- 2:11It's just a little bit of a cloudy day.
- 2:14There are three or four of them right in a row right now.
- 2:16But it's this conscious shift that that just takes place.
- 2:21Like I'm conscious it's happening.
- 2:23But I this morning was wondering what, what's the reason it
- 2:26happens? Why does it take place the way
- 2:29it takes place? Because what's really different?
- 2:32And for me as I'm thinking about it this morning saying, well,
- 2:36you know, really what's going on?
- 2:37It's like we had these unwritten rules about when it's a good
- 2:40time to do something for ourselves, and these unwritten
- 2:43rules take over. And when we recognize that we're
- 2:47not thinking about what those rules are, then they have more
- 2:51power than we may want them to. So I recognize that this one, I
- 2:57don't think it has more power than I want it to, but I want to
- 3:00be able to make those decisions on days when, you know, it might
- 3:05not be rainy. I want to be able to say, OK, I
- 3:07can still do those things that I put off quote UN quote until a
- 3:10rainy day or in this case, a cloudy day.
- 3:14You know, why can't I find a way to work those into my schedule
- 3:18in a different way? So it causes us to ask better
- 3:21questions and look at things differently.
- 3:23So that's what this is about. It's like when you recognize
- 3:26something and you see a pattern in yourself, you have every bit,
- 3:31you know, an option to say, I'm going to stop and I'm going to
- 3:35take a look at this and I'm really going to pause and figure
- 3:37out, one, where did this come from?
- 3:40And two, can I shift it into something even more productive?
- 3:44And for me, that's the big thing.
- 3:46It's like shifting into something that's even more
- 3:49productive with it. O I'm going to look at, OK, what
- 3:53is this rainy day feeling I have that I like so much, And I'm
- 3:57really going to debrief that today.
- 4:00I because I have some time, right?
- 4:02I can sit there and say, oh, all right, I'm going to pull aside
- 4:05today. I won't be able to get done the
- 4:08same things I would if it was a, you know, glorious sunny day
- 4:12outside. But I have a different type of
- 4:15time. And what is the reason for that
- 4:17different type of time? What feelings does it give me?
- 4:19What can I walk away from with that?
- 4:21You know, like it's a constant dig in question path to say what
- 4:26is it about that feeling that is so pulling to me.
- 4:29What is it that I was so excited about and ask those what
- 4:33questions and the how questions of shifting it, keeping it
- 4:37moving forward. So I know right now for sure
- 4:41when I think about this, and again, I haven't done this
- 4:43exercise completely myself. It was just an awareness and I
- 4:46was like, oh, let me grab my phone and talk about this and do
- 4:48it live with all of you. For me, one of those very first,
- 4:52what questions is the, you know, what is it about this day that
- 4:56makes me excited? This type of day is a better
- 5:00question. What is it about this type of
- 5:02day that makes me excited? And the first thing I thought of
- 5:05was, well, I could just stay in my, you know, my, my hanging
- 5:10around clothes all day long. And I was like, oh, that feels
- 5:13really good. Even though I'm probably going
- 5:16to go out and I'm not going to walk out in the clothes that I'm
- 5:20wearing. I felt like that was one of
- 5:22those first pulls. Is it that, OK, It gives me
- 5:26permission to just, if it's pouring, do I just say, OK, now
- 5:29I can't go do any yard work at all.
- 5:32So I get to, you know, watch a show.
- 5:35That's a possibility. I can tell you there are some
- 5:37shows on Netflix that I have been putting out there and
- 5:40wanting to see. And you know what?
- 5:43I might just do that if it pours today.
- 5:45What are the other parts of it? It's like, oh, that poking
- 5:47around the garden center, that is like a 10 out of 10 for me.
- 5:51Getting over there and not having the sun beating on your
- 5:54head while you're doing it. Oh, boy, that is just 10 out of
- 5:5810 for me. So look for those things,
- 6:00debrief yourself, figure it out, and then let's see how to work
- 6:04it into the rest of our lives. I know I'm going to.
- 6:06All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 6:08will see you tomorrow. Bye.
