- Everyone. I'm Jake. I'm from Audio Rain. We've just dropped our brand new album, The Perfect Sea, and I'm looking forward to catching up. That's my good mate, Frisbee ye niful Jake, thanks for joining us today, brother Audio Rain will unleash your new album, The Perfect Sea. It's today, my friends. So how you feel about it? Made a bit of relief to get it out there. Oh mate, it's been a labor of love. We're start to go that. It's just been a long time coming and the fans have been waiting. So we're just on cloud nine over the moon. Let's mix it together. Yeah, about getting this out fantastic, right, coll And people always bang on about the second album being harder for a band made, like, can you relate to that? You have? You? Have you noticed that? Yeah? It's always that way about They say your first album you know it took your bloody twenty years to write, and the next albums you know, every couple of years. Yeah, I mean it can be obvious a piece together. This album wasn't It was written during COVID time too, and there's a lot of emotions going through there with being a band and just just life in general. As well, and so yeah, that that helped out, I suppose. And also, I mean, I've got a lot of a notebook, and I write different lyrics and sometimes, you know, I'm not the sort of person that just sits there and can bang out a song on page I have. Sometimes we'll just I'll have to have to wait till it comes to me. I've got notes. Now I'll go through. But this it came through pretty good. The next one you have to ask me that again for the then for the next album, but this time it's been okay, right, So tell us a bit more out The Perfect Sea from a musical point of view, and what are you're done for with it? The Perfect Sea? It's like this, people people have albums have themes. This album doesn't really have a theme. There's definitely some songs in there which which which are sort of part of the same thing. But but the whole album itself, because it had been so long and and through the pandemic and everything, and said, the fans have been waiting, I wanted to do something for them. So the album itself and the song The Perfect Sea is basically dedicated to dedicated to our fans for sticking around and for for waiting for us, and for for backing us and keeping there with us, and hence, yeah, so that the album cover you can see, it's just it's all a bit of a relation to them, because without obviously without without the people, you know, if no one's listening to music, you know, then you're not relevant. So for the people who are stuck by us and have been waiting for this, this is a big thank you to them. And you've been grip feeding singles for a while now, starting with Angel about eighteen months ago, and you followed that with Relentless, Breathe Brown and Lasting Line. So overall, would you say that those songs are a good sonic representation of what to expect from the album. Yeah, definitely. We didn't want to just drop a single or two and then the album. It's in this day and age, I don't think that sort of seems to work, so hence we started releasing the singles, and yeah, we're stoked the way it's sort of coming along. With audio range albums, we always try and sort of put something in there for everyone. We don't want to have an album for the same stuff. So it's going to be definitely some bit of a landscape in there to get across to all different people. But it's yeah, no, it's great. Yeah. So out of those songs that you have released, made two of them just sort of people listen to you to to best represent the album. Ah, that's a hard one, someone I asked the other day, And because I'm you know, I'm on the rather lyrics that these songs mean so much to me for so many different reasons. I mean, if you're just going straight out for what is audio raying on on this album and what's the typical I'd be going probably the Crown and Motorway, which are too just pretty banging in your face singles and stand alone. But there's there's so much else on this album which people can find, you know, you know which which isn't necessarily you know that those main songs this So there's so much any hear of them to sort of get into and get their teeth into and see what resonates with them. Now, the album starts off with a bit of a Flamenco style guitar passage before exploding into relentless So was that a deliberate prior to keep people get and started off like that? Not necessarily. I mean that that song definitely does that. But I suppose, as I said once again, because we've sort of gone through all the pandemic and just trying to get this album, and we had some things that's happened with the band along the way, just you know, behind the scenes and stuff. But Relentless was basically Relentless is the song to us. That was a song we wrote for ourselves about how we weren't going to just fade away and and and get stuck into the vortex of nothingness of the pandemic. That was us saying we are well, we will not give up. And so that was just a perfect song I think to start the album with. And that version of Relentless on the album is the explicit version of the song. So how different is it to the version already released or is it like a thousand swear words in there, shit, sucks and fox or is it just a couple of words. I don't know that means wear was good. No, it's not. It's pretty much the same. But yeah, that that came out and obviously, as I said, with things that happened behind the scenes, when we came out, we were always going to save this version, and it's probably just basically more one way because this explicit version is the way Relentless was written. So when it came out and they're going for radio play you know around here and overseas and stuff, there's no way that was going to slip on like for the more more year sort of mainstream radio. So we had to do that clean version. And so I'm glad that the song's actually coming out because this was the emotion, this is how it was written. So yeah, I really like the fact so that you haven't milk it by putting both versions of the song on the album, like you've got the naughty version and that's it, Like you don't like that stiff ship. Yeah, that's true. I mean that said that was the song, you know, I think and you know, even the every everything can watch these days, there's there's a lot more swearing out there and in the in the classrooms there where than there is honest album. So yeah, it's it's pretty minor, but it's it's not for you know. I hear people like songs these days and on the radio like three my Doors Now, sometimes I just think, are they just saying that to be cool? I don't know, but this was definitely not that. This is just how it was so bocally, you cover a lot of territory on the perfect seamte from rock to hard rock. There's spashes of metal in there to acoustics. So did you make a point of pushing yourself that little bit harder to stuff? And I think so. I think it was just that it came pretty naturally. Really, It wasn't it wasn't difficult, and it wasn't a focused point to make on there. But it just happens. And like as I said, like I find I follows an album, I don't want to hear it like you know, ten twelve actually the same thing. I like the diversity of songs and emotions that you can that can have on there, because like you in yourself, you like everything from the heaviest band to the the just the state whatever rock rock band. You like everything in between there. So there's no reason, you know that we can't have all that on one album because it just it just gives you a bit of a bit of a journey as opposed to just having one album the same thing. So yeah, it was pretty pretty natural really, And the album Closer Gone is a beautiful acoustic piece driven by vocals made So what was the idea behind finishing an album with that? Like you could have gone out with a bang, but you chose to pull it back and go out, and from my point of view at works really well. Yeah, I'd I'd tell a little secret. There was supposed to be another song on this album. It is going to come out later, but there's certain things stopping this song coming out. So and God was actually going to be like a bonus track, so it's still going to be there, but it wasn't some of the bonus track, but when that pulled out, we decided to know, well, we're going to just make on one of the main songs. And for Audio Rain fans, as I said, I like to think they've got enough sort of scope, you know, being that we're in the middle of between rock hard rock, heavy rock and metal and parts, and I'd like to think that they appreciate it and it to us. But it sort of goes back to the when we recorded that. We wanted to have that sort of almost it was. It wasn't polished, it had that sort of one of that sort of MTV you know, unplugged sort of that sort of feel like your extremes and your mister Biggs and that, and hopefully we pulled it off. And Yeah, it was just a nice little thing with guitar with a grit guitar, cello and some harmonies and just something something to put out there, something different. I'm looking forward to hearing what the fantas say about it. Well, you've already got to pass the harshest pretty out there myself. Well, I was scared that this is going to put you on this spot a little bit, bro Like, what's your personal favorite track on the perfect Scene? I got asked this another on the show today and I said, you can't ask this question. I write this stuff and I like them all for so many different reasons. I just I just I can't answer it. I can't give you one. That's it. Well, I'm not going to go at you, oh man, I don't know. Like I like more with different reasons. I like Motorway in the fact that it really builds like it's that song and I don't listen listen to the music. Yeah, in the car, but I haven't heard the album. For one, when I was listening to Day and just when you're driving out in there, it was out on the roadway, and it just it just builds and builds and builds, and there's something about it which is just super super cool. It just Yeah, So I'll pick I'll pick made Away, But if you ask me again next week, I'll pick something else. A fair brother, so old score. Fans who've been with Audio Reign from the beginning, Mate, Like, how does a perfect See different musically to your self titled debut album? Good question. I know that we're you know, whether it was on purpose or whether it was just by divine or just you know, progress that we did bring in some different songs into this album. I don't. I don't really think it. Yes, we've made a conscious effort to be different, and I can't exactly tell you how much or what it is. If it has changed from the first album We've still got you know You're heavy were breakdowns and melodics. I think to me, it's I mean, it's it's it's a continuation. Has it evolved much? I don't think so. I think it was still're still true truely Iraan. And if it is, it has, if it has available, it's only very slightly on a nice slight curve in my mind right. Audio Rayn recently signed with Australian label X Music. So what sorts of things has that opened up for the band in general, and what sorts of things has it open up for you in terms of this album? Yeah, Look, it's music. They're they're a great label. Tim McClean smith who runs the label, he's a bloody good blake and he's he's he's been there, done there. He's got a long history and being with with labels southw like he was the same for twenty years and stuff, and he knows his stuff, and he he's got his heart in the music and and he believes in the bands that he's got, he believes in us, So being with him, he's he's got those contacts and I suppose the history push and drive to be able to help us get to that next level that we need to get to. And as a band, it is a bloody long hard road. If I get noticed and get things done, some bands will you go with that label and do it themselves because you know they've they've they've got other other ways of doing things. We've we we're so flat out with other stuff that we're doing. And also I suppose being an Adelaide having a label like ex Music and Tim is just it's just gold for us. We need we need that extra help and the extra push to to to really get through and cut through everything that's out there. And so I'm hoping that our partnership together and of course we've got a bloody a great manager who helps us out to So yeah, we're hoping with this team we've got now we can really start to do things this year and and help raise our profile, especially in Australia but also you know overseas and really getting music out there. Fantastic, mate, So the album's out now, the hype's been worth it. It's a great fucking album, mate, But what's next for Audio Rain? You got anything anything planned for the near future. Well, I'm just making a space on my wall for when the platinum record cames. No, I'm just yeah, Look, we want to try and play around Australia a lot more this year, you know necessary whether we're necessarily going to do a dedicated Perfect Sea tour, but we are going to be getting out playing a lot off the back of this album, and we'll be doing some shows with Next Music. We'll be doing some own shows with friends, and yeah, I said, trying to hit hit all parts of Australia. We're going to obviously we've got bits and pieces away to start riting the next hour. But you know, let's let's let's not jump too far ahead. Let's revel in a bit of what this album's got to offer. And we want to go out and meet some people, make some new fans, and yeah, try and make Audio rain a household name on the lips of the Australian people. Fantastic and where where and how can people get hold of the perfect seed? It's final disc digital, all the above, it's all the above, mate, Actually, well we've got one of you.
