Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm Sean de Weird.
- 0:10Speaker 2: It's just us.
- 0:11Speaker 1: It's just the two of us today. But you know
- 0:13Speaker 1: it's probably pretty good because, well, let's face it, Justin
- 0:17Speaker 1: is not a fan of the Apple.
- 0:19Speaker 2: And neither's Matt.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Matt. Really, I thought Matt was kind of like, kind
- 0:23Speaker 1: of like, no, not at all, man, boy.
- 0:26Speaker 2: He tolerates it.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Justin.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You know, Justin is a cynic for Apple, so real, well,
- 0:31Speaker 2: he is Apple's biggest critic.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he just doesn't like anything Apple has done.
- 0:35Speaker 1: But you know, I think the.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Only thing that he likes that Apple's done is the
- 0:37Speaker 2: poop emo g. That's how it feels about Apple.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Well, the cool thing is is I've actually gone back
- 0:46Speaker 1: to Apple, So I'm kind of like reinvigorating my side
- 0:51Speaker 1: business that I used to do a lot, graphics and
- 0:54Speaker 1: design and scanning and all that stuff. I had my
- 0:57Speaker 1: Skype number, which was a great number, and then of
- 1:00Speaker 1: course Skype went away Skype. But yeah, exactly, but I
- 1:04Speaker 1: had paid for my stype's Skype phone number for a year.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I paid for it and then within two weeks is
- 1:10Speaker 1: when Skype said, well, we're going away, so I still
- 1:12Speaker 1: have the phone number, but it said I have to
- 1:14Speaker 1: have it ported by April of next year or I
- 1:17Speaker 1: lose it or whatever. So I just decided, you know what,
- 1:20Speaker 1: I've got this iPhone fourteen Promax that is just sitting here.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I carry around my you know, Pixel all the time,
- 1:29Speaker 1: so why not put that Skype number onto the iPhone
- 1:34Speaker 1: and start carrying that around me. That's a business phone.
- 1:37Speaker 1: So I'm back into the world of Apple, and I
- 1:40Speaker 1: gotta say I'm kind of happy about it too. So
- 1:43Speaker 1: so far, I've not had any spam calls.
- 1:45Speaker 3: That's good.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah. So on the topic of Apple, A couple months
- 1:49Speaker 2: ago they did their software They announced OS twenty six
- 1:52Speaker 2: and Tahoe and a couple of things. But on the
- 1:54Speaker 2: ninth they announced this is a hardware announcement, so a
- 1:59Speaker 2: couple of the big the big key things was new
- 2:03Speaker 2: AirPod Pro threes oh three new models of Apple Watch,
- 2:08Speaker 2: three base models of iPhones iPhone seventeen, iPhone Air and
- 2:14Speaker 2: iPhone seventeen Pro and Promax oh wow, and man it
- 2:22Speaker 2: some of it's really cool.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I'm wondering though, like, Okay, on the watches I've got,
- 2:27Speaker 1: you know, the I Watch. I got one before I
- 2:30Speaker 1: had switched to the pixel smartphone, and I'm kind of
- 2:34Speaker 1: glad I still have it. I mean, I use it
- 2:36Speaker 1: for keeping control, keeping an eye on the heart, and
- 2:39Speaker 1: you know the blood oxygen which was gone for a while,
- 2:41Speaker 1: but it's back and it's got Mickey Mouse on it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I like it. How can they improve on a watch?
- 2:49Speaker 1: That's what made me kind of huh. Watches.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So they had the Watch se which is like their base,
- 2:55Speaker 2: base level watch, and these all launched September nineteenth, by
- 2:59Speaker 2: the way. So they had the Watch se which was
- 3:01Speaker 2: it's they're calling it their budget health conscious watch. Basically
- 3:05Speaker 2: it's got a budget with all the health features.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:09Speaker 2: They have the Apple Watch Series eleven, which they added.
- 3:14Speaker 2: The new thing they added was hypertension tracking, so if
- 3:17Speaker 2: you have hypertension, it can track and aid you in
- 3:20Speaker 2: understanding when you're having hypertension or if you're encountering hypertension.
- 3:25Speaker 2: They added sleep tracking, oh wow, so it can do
- 3:29Speaker 2: a bigger overall picture of your sleep health. And then
- 3:35Speaker 2: they have the Watch Ultra three, So the the third
- 3:37Speaker 2: series of the Ultra which it has satellite messaging, so
- 3:43Speaker 2: the SOS messaging, but via satellite, so you can do
- 3:46Speaker 2: satellite messaging from it. And they're touting that the Ultra
- 3:50Speaker 2: three has a seventy two hour battery life.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Really on the watch, seventy two hour. So this is
- 3:58Speaker 1: great if somebody is stuck in the wilderness.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean this, this one would be if you're
- 4:02Speaker 2: if you're doing some outdoorsy stuff and you know you're
- 4:05Speaker 2: out there for a couple of days, you can't recharge
- 4:07Speaker 2: some stuff. Your your your your watch is going to
- 4:09Speaker 2: be doing a good job. My watch is pain to me.
- 4:14Speaker 2: But so those are the watches, right, So those three
- 4:17Speaker 2: and I don't see the prices on this. I'll have
- 4:20Speaker 2: to look at the prices again here in a second.
- 4:23Speaker 2: The first thing they announced was the AirPod Pro threes,
- 4:27Speaker 2: the third generation of the AirPod pros. I have the
- 4:29Speaker 2: second gen. I love them. The noise canceling is fantastic.
- 4:32Speaker 2: They improve the active noise canceling. It can track your
- 4:36Speaker 2: heart rate through your AirPods. Wait what the AirPods have
- 4:42Speaker 2: heart rate monitoring built in. So if you don't have
- 4:46Speaker 2: an Apple watch, but you want to track your exercise
- 4:48Speaker 2: and your heart rate, the air pods using some sort
- 4:52Speaker 2: of spatial audio and sensing in your ears can track
- 4:56Speaker 2: your heart rate.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Oh that's amazing. Well all right.
- 5:00Speaker 2: The other cool thing was it's using Apple Intelligence. It
- 5:05Speaker 2: does live translation. You speak Spanish to me, the AirPods
- 5:10Speaker 2: will translate it to English.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Now, I've seen some third party devices that have been
- 5:16Speaker 1: doing this, but this is all going to be included in.
- 5:18Speaker 2: That, just with the AirPods. So I don't know if
- 5:23Speaker 2: you have to have a specific version of iPhone for
- 5:25Speaker 2: it to work. But it was a flagship feature of
- 5:29Speaker 2: the AirPods standalone. Wow, which was really cool. Now they
- 5:35Speaker 2: touted that into the iPhones also that you can do
- 5:38Speaker 2: live translation stuff. So it's got to be paired with
- 5:40Speaker 2: Apple Intelligence. So you probably have to have an iPhone
- 5:42Speaker 2: that runs Apple Intelligence. But I don't know. It's to
- 5:46Speaker 2: be determined whether or not it's it has to I
- 5:49Speaker 2: don't know, but it's really cool.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So somebody could be having a conversation with you. You
- 5:55Speaker 1: just hold up the smartphone and say they're speaking, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: speaking Spanish you don't speak Spanish, or they're speaking you know, Japanese,
- 6:04Speaker 1: and it would take it and translate it while you're
- 6:06Speaker 1: wearing the.
- 6:07Speaker 2: So you speak Spanish to me and then it's like
- 6:10Speaker 2: a delayed translator in your ear. It translated the Siri
- 6:14Speaker 2: or whoever your voice will speak to you in your
- 6:16Speaker 2: native language or whatever language you choose. Right Automa like
- 6:23Speaker 2: real time, and if both people have AirPods, it apparently
- 6:28Speaker 2: knows and we'll do it bi directionally.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So it was pretty impressive to see. I mean, I
- 6:36Speaker 2: knew it was coming.
- 6:37Speaker 1: They actually demo because you were able to watch the event,
- 6:40Speaker 1: which they called the awe Dropping Event a dropping event. Yes,
- 6:45Speaker 1: you were able to watch the event. Did they show
- 6:47Speaker 1: that demonstrated?
- 6:48Speaker 2: I mean they showed some canned videos of it being done,
- 6:51Speaker 2: but they didn't do anything live. Right, So it's like
- 6:54Speaker 2: skeptical until I try it. I'd be very intrigued to
- 6:56Speaker 2: try it. You know, we get some international students and
- 6:59Speaker 2: it'd be cool to seed we work right, right, So
- 7:03Speaker 2: the three watches the air pods, and then they announced
- 7:07Speaker 2: three new versions of the iPhone.
- 7:10Speaker 1: All right, so you had the.
- 7:12Speaker 2: iPhone seventeen, which is using the A nineteen chip. It's
- 7:16Speaker 2: literally a great entry level phone. Everybody's saying, like, there's
- 7:20Speaker 2: no reason if you're an Apple user and you want
- 7:23Speaker 2: a great phone, The iPhone seventeen, just the base model
- 7:26Speaker 2: is going to be fantastic. Everybody was rumored that there
- 7:29Speaker 2: was gonna be a super thin iPhone, the iPhone Air.
- 7:32Speaker 2: It's got a five point three millimeter thickness fine point.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Wow, what really, that's tiny.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very very thin. And they're they're touting that
- 7:45Speaker 2: both sides of the phone, the front and the back
- 7:47Speaker 2: glass are got this ceramic coating at the atomic level
- 7:51Speaker 2: or something, so it's super scratch resistant. Super you know,
- 7:54Speaker 2: they dropped, you know, they were showing them getting smashed around,
- 7:56Speaker 2: and they had some videos of them getting hit by stuff.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But then then wounce the iPhone seventeen right, which has
- 8:03Speaker 2: a redesigned battery for super long battery life. Then they
- 8:06Speaker 2: announced the iPhone seventeen Pro and the Pro Max, the
- 8:11Speaker 2: iPhone seven. So the iPhone seventeen has two cameras on it.
- 8:14Speaker 2: It's got a wide angle and a telephoto. They're all
- 8:18Speaker 2: all of the cameras on the seventeen. The Air and
- 8:21Speaker 2: the seventeen Pro are all forty eight megapixel sensors, so
- 8:25Speaker 2: they bumped up the sensor size significantly in these cameras,
- 8:28Speaker 2: and there's just a load of features. But the seventeen
- 8:33Speaker 2: Pro and the Pro Max are all aluminum body design
- 8:40Speaker 2: because the battery is ginormous in this thing and the
- 8:44Speaker 2: processing power is huge. They're running the eight the A
- 8:48Speaker 2: nineteen s or something like that, like the pro version
- 8:51Speaker 2: of the AA nineteen chip, and you can do so
- 8:55Speaker 2: much with the camera. You can record four K, one
- 8:58Speaker 2: hundred and twenty frame, you can do pro resira, you
- 9:00Speaker 2: can do tons of stuff. You can add a black
- 9:03Speaker 2: Magic Design accessory that will give you genlock, it'll give
- 9:07Speaker 2: you time code, it will if this is a low
- 9:11Speaker 2: end cinema camera basically like they are touting this to
- 9:14Speaker 2: a broadcast level a camera quality. They shot the whole
- 9:18Speaker 2: presentation on the iPhone seventeen's. All the Apple stuff they
- 9:21Speaker 2: did was shot on the iPhone seventeens.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I remember some years ago when they were showing I
- 9:25Speaker 1: want to say the fourteen and they actually shot an
- 9:29Speaker 1: entire film using the fourteen and presented that.
- 9:32Speaker 2: A Yeah, I mean they're all doing it now. Every
- 9:36Speaker 2: time they launch a new iPhone, somebody shot a movie
- 9:38Speaker 2: with it. But yeah, so it's got a larger battery
- 9:43Speaker 2: and it they're saying it'll do up to like thirty
- 9:46Speaker 2: two hours of video playback. It's crazy how big this is.
- 9:51Speaker 1: What would be the biggest reason, Sean, just from watching
- 9:54Speaker 1: this for somebody like you're on the thirteen right, thirteen
- 9:57Speaker 1: Pro thirteen Pro and I've got the fourteen, What would
- 10:01Speaker 1: be the biggest reason to update or upgrade from somebody
- 10:04Speaker 1: who had, you know, a device that was maybe just
- 10:07Speaker 1: a little a little older.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Just to get the current gen hardware. I mean, I
- 10:13Speaker 2: really don't have a desire to move. I don't like again,
- 10:18Speaker 2: the last phone I had before the thirteen Pro was
- 10:20Speaker 2: a seven S and that was five generations. I waited.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Now I'm at the same point where I'm on this.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I'm on the thirteen. I don't have a reason. But
- 10:28Speaker 2: the price of the iPhone seventeen was just seven ninety
- 10:32Speaker 2: nine flat okay for a two hundred and fifty six
- 10:37Speaker 2: gig based storage, so that they bumped up the minimum
- 10:40Speaker 2: storage for the iPhone seventeen to two fifty six. Maybe
- 10:43Speaker 2: a seventeen would have been back go. I don't think
- 10:45Speaker 2: I don't need the Pro or the Pro Max. I'm
- 10:47Speaker 2: not doing any of that creative content. I wouldn't need
- 10:50Speaker 2: to spend twelve hundred dollars on a phone.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Yeah? Do you think these are going to be priced
- 10:54Speaker 1: for quite higher than what we've already seen. We haven't
- 10:57Speaker 1: seen the pricing on the smartphones yet, right, or did
- 10:59Speaker 1: they go ahead.
- 11:00Speaker 2: The iph the iPhone Air. I was surprised. It was
- 11:04Speaker 2: just high, to be honest. But it's nine to ninety
- 11:06Speaker 2: nine for the iPhone Air.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I think people are used to that now.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I think the iPhone seventeen Pro was ten ninety nine,
- 11:14Speaker 2: the air pods were two forty nine, and the watches
- 11:17Speaker 2: were around the same price there now for current gen
- 11:20Speaker 2: phone for watches. So, but I mean overall, they touted
- 11:24Speaker 2: the cameras. The cameras were a big push, right. They're
- 11:26Speaker 2: all all at this baseline forty eight megapixel. They all
- 11:29Speaker 2: have two camera more than two or more so. The
- 11:31Speaker 2: iPhone seventeen and the iPhone Air have the two cameras,
- 11:34Speaker 2: the one wide angle and the one telephoto so optical zoom.
- 11:40Speaker 2: The iPhone Air had some other fancy stuff in it
- 11:42Speaker 2: that just seemed to be five point six milimeters. It's
- 11:46Speaker 2: titanium six point five inch screen with the one hundred
- 11:49Speaker 2: and twenty hertz refresh. Oh this, the Air has this feature,
- 11:53Speaker 2: but I don't think the other cameras do dual filming mode,
- 11:56Speaker 2: so you can record both the front and the rear
- 11:58Speaker 2: at the same time.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Oh no, that's cool.
- 12:01Speaker 2: So you can have like you could be filming vertically
- 12:04Speaker 2: but have your reaction also like a FaceTime almost.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll have your little box square. Well, that'll be good.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Creators will love that.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's this. They kind of mentioned like this is
- 12:14Speaker 2: for creators, like the Air was designed for creators because
- 12:19Speaker 2: it's so slim, it's sleek.
- 12:20Speaker 1: It's Are they doing anything battery wise with those did
- 12:24Speaker 1: they mention? I mean, you mentioned that you get some
- 12:27Speaker 1: pretty long life, so I would have to think that
- 12:29Speaker 1: they increased it. One of the things I loved about
- 12:31Speaker 1: the as US phone that I looked at recently that
- 12:34Speaker 1: one had two batteries in it, so it just really
- 12:39Speaker 1: gave you long, long battery life for the power you'd
- 12:43Speaker 1: be consuming on it. I'm wondering if Apple is going
- 12:45Speaker 1: to be doing the same thing with their they.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Touted they touted battery life pretty life. They said, Apple
- 12:52Speaker 2: sites up to twenty seven hours of video playback via
- 12:57Speaker 2: the internal battery.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Wow.
- 13:00Speaker 2: They also now have a rechargeable mag Safe charger. Rechargeable Safe,
- 13:05Speaker 2: You're chargeable. You can just basically mag safe it to
- 13:08Speaker 2: the back of your phone and it'll charge your phone
- 13:10Speaker 2: from the mag Safe right, So you can set it,
- 13:13Speaker 2: set it down, you know, have it on your desk
- 13:14Speaker 2: and just drop it on there while you're going or whatever.
- 13:17Speaker 1: So it's to be plugged in. It could just be
- 13:19Speaker 1: it's you've charged your mag safe device, you take it
- 13:22Speaker 1: with you and then you just connect them up and
- 13:25Speaker 1: it's gonna charge off of that.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna charge off of the mag Safe device.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 2: And it says that you can stretch up the air
- 13:32Speaker 2: can stretch up to forty hours when you're paired it
- 13:34Speaker 2: with the mag Safe the mag Safe charger.
- 13:36Speaker 1: That's good.
- 13:38Speaker 2: It says the size is a thirty one hundred million
- 13:41Speaker 2: million battery all day twenty seven hours video playback. And
- 13:47Speaker 2: size who knows it's probably on like zero percent brightness.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yeah, zeros, Yes, size in six inch screens six inch
- 13:54Speaker 1: and that's on the air.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 1: What about the Pro the seventeen Pro Max, So.
- 13:59Speaker 2: The I our own seventeen standard is a six point
- 14:01Speaker 2: three inch OLED display. Promotion one hundred and twenty hertz,
- 14:05Speaker 2: and this is the ceramics shield. They're called tauting. This
- 14:08Speaker 2: ceramic shield too, whatever that is where they code it
- 14:12Speaker 2: with some sort of ceramic thing. Not thirty thousand, three
- 14:17Speaker 2: thousand nit peak brightness. Thirty thousand would be would be
- 14:20Speaker 2: blown your face off.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 2: The iPhone seventeen Pro is also the six point three inch,
- 14:28Speaker 2: matching the size of the standard model super REDNA xdrled
- 14:32Speaker 2: promotion one hundred and twenty hertz hasn't always on display,
- 14:37Speaker 2: and a massiveness of the same three thousand nit peak brightness,
- 14:40Speaker 2: so they're all about the same size. So in terms
- 14:42Speaker 2: of screen size.
- 14:44Speaker 1: We talked about AI, and there was word recently that
- 14:48Speaker 1: Apple was going to be looking at possibly what Google
- 14:51Speaker 1: is doing with its devices and maybe even integrating the
- 14:55Speaker 1: Gemini kind of overflow into Apple AI. Today even mentioned that,
- 15:00Speaker 1: or the only.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Apple Intelligence mentioned was for the live translation.
- 15:07Speaker 1: That's it, really, that's it. Well, so I kind of
- 15:10Speaker 1: I wonder if that would be a letdown for a
- 15:12Speaker 1: lot of people. That's one of the things about the
- 15:14Speaker 1: Google Pixel device is the AI capabilities on it have
- 15:19Speaker 1: been great. I don't get that with Siri, and if
- 15:22Speaker 1: they were able to take Siri and have that same
- 15:25Speaker 1: type of experience. And I think maybe some people who
- 15:29Speaker 1: have already been using you know, whether it be Samsung
- 15:33Speaker 1: or Google Pixel or whatever, and you're getting the UI
- 15:36Speaker 1: the AI use out of that would be happy to
- 15:38Speaker 1: come back to Apple in some cases if they were
- 15:41Speaker 1: able to, you know, up their game when it came
- 15:43Speaker 1: to that. But maybe they don't think it's that much
- 15:45Speaker 1: of an issue.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I don't. I mean, like I said, the only AI
- 15:49Speaker 2: mantel for Apple Intelligence was part of the heart reymoditoring stuff,
- 15:53Speaker 2: just because they've been using it to learn. They did
- 15:55Speaker 2: a study of like some two hundred thousand Apple users
- 15:58Speaker 2: for one of the studies, and five million hours of
- 16:02Speaker 2: heart rate content. The AI can scrape and do all
- 16:06Speaker 2: this stuff with, right, But yeah, there was nothing Flagship
- 16:12Speaker 2: except for the translation he was using the Apple Intelligence.
- 16:15Speaker 2: So there's nothing about chat GPT or any other app
- 16:19Speaker 2: integration with with AI.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm thinking whether it's anthropic or you know, whether
- 16:25Speaker 1: it's chat gptory. I mean, I have chat GPT as
- 16:29Speaker 1: an app on my phone, so I mean Sam can
- 16:31Speaker 1: have that on any device as well, so you could
- 16:34Speaker 1: always go third party. But I just wonder if Apple
- 16:36Speaker 1: would gain a little more market share if they were
- 16:38Speaker 1: to do that. I think they'll still do well and
- 16:41Speaker 1: especially would this still would not be something to make
- 16:44Speaker 1: you want to upgrade, upgrade from your thirteen.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Well, they did say at the end that anybody with
- 16:50Speaker 2: a thirteen pro or higher can get a significant amount
- 16:54Speaker 2: of money at Apple towards an iPhone seventeen.
- 16:57Speaker 1: No, that makes sense.
- 16:58Speaker 2: So I think it was something like you get like
- 17:00Speaker 2: seven one hundred dollars for an iPhone thirteen. Wow, But
- 17:04Speaker 2: I'll look that one up because I don't remember, but
- 17:05Speaker 2: it was. I was it was kind of like a
- 17:06Speaker 2: oh yeah, a significant amount of money towards an iPhone seventeen.
- 17:11Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 17:12Speaker 1: So they covered phones that covered you know, the AirPods.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Did they go anywhere when it came to max or
- 17:18Speaker 1: even tablets or that's completely.
- 17:21Speaker 2: And then I was surprised because there was a there
- 17:23Speaker 2: was a really really big rumor because they they designed
- 17:27Speaker 2: a new Uh, all of these phones have their new
- 17:30Speaker 2: motive in them, their new five G modem. They developed
- 17:33Speaker 2: their own five G modem. So even the watches that
- 17:38Speaker 2: have cellular are running their new five G modem. There
- 17:40Speaker 2: was a big rumor that they were developing a MacBook
- 17:45Speaker 2: with five G so that you could just have a
- 17:47Speaker 2: cell phone plan on your MacBook and that's all you needed.
- 17:50Speaker 2: So and it would be designed around probably the A
- 17:53Speaker 2: nineteen pro chip also, so it'd be like a a MacBook.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Everybody's rumoring is gonna be called the MacBook or the
- 18:01Speaker 2: MacBook light, right or because you can't call the air.
- 18:05Speaker 2: But but it would be a MacBook five G MacBook. So,
- 18:09Speaker 2: but I I was disappointed it wasn't anything besides like
- 18:12Speaker 2: wearably porpherials, watches, air pods, and the phones. But that
- 18:16Speaker 2: means we're going to get another Mac based keynote at
- 18:19Speaker 2: some point, right because we had the software one earlier
- 18:21Speaker 2: this year.
- 18:22Speaker 1: This is this is do those in October?
- 18:25Speaker 3: Like? But I mean, I mean, I don't know, but you.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Know, they could have they could have ended it alluding
- 18:30Speaker 1: to something coming because during the holiday season, that's when
- 18:32Speaker 1: you know, October you want to hit for Christmas. These
- 18:36Speaker 1: Friday are going to be out in just days that
- 18:39Speaker 1: they'll be available for people to purchase. Uh, and again
- 18:43Speaker 1: that's uh, that's gonna be pretty big. I don't know,
- 18:45Speaker 1: I definitely want to take a look at it. I'm
- 18:47Speaker 1: very happy with the fourteen Pro Max that that was
- 18:50Speaker 1: a great device.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I'm I'm very happy with the with the thirteen Pro.
- 18:54Speaker 2: It's it's It's done me really well. It does everything
- 18:57Speaker 2: I needed to. You know, I don't have Apple intelligen
- 19:00Speaker 2: so I can't do some things. But right, because this
- 19:03Speaker 2: was the version, it's like the fourteen you can get
- 19:05Speaker 2: Apple Intelligence.
- 19:08Speaker 1: But really, I don't know, I just don't know.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I mean, I'm running I'm still running the Developer beta
- 19:13Speaker 2: and everything's been great. I mean, obviously the first couple
- 19:17Speaker 2: of days were a little rough with the with the
- 19:19Speaker 2: issues I had doing that, but other than that, it's
- 19:22Speaker 2: been great.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And I have a question though, whatever happened to the
- 19:26Speaker 1: vision Apple Vision, whatever, whatever happened to the wearable?
- 19:30Speaker 2: It's going the way of three D TV.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, nobody.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Wants to wear have a wearable to watch their content.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Sure it's immersive and it's cool, but how often is
- 19:44Speaker 2: it feasible? You're not doing it every time you're watching content, Right,
- 19:48Speaker 2: You're not watching it when you're watching content with your friends.
- 19:51Speaker 2: You're not doing it when you're watching content with your family.
- 19:55Speaker 2: So you're watching all this content by yourself. With the
- 19:57Speaker 2: wearable on and then you're limited to the that's available
- 20:00Speaker 2: for it because there's nobody creating the content because there's
- 20:04Speaker 2: nobody watching the content. So that's the same thing with
- 20:06Speaker 2: three DTV. Right Everybody got a super hyped because they
- 20:09Speaker 2: wanted to watch three D sports, but then they realized
- 20:11Speaker 2: you had to wear the glasses and if people came
- 20:14Speaker 2: over to watch sports, because sports is social, everybody had
- 20:17Speaker 2: to wear three D glasses. But then if you sat
- 20:19Speaker 2: at the wrong viewing angle, it was crap. If you
- 20:23Speaker 2: stood up, people got sick because the motion. And then
- 20:27Speaker 2: if the TV wasn't set up right, then it just
- 20:30Speaker 2: went away. It was the hype. I mean, ESPN did
- 20:34Speaker 2: World Cup in three D or you know, and they
- 20:37Speaker 2: had to tune out all the vuvuzelas and like I mean,
- 20:40Speaker 2: there was this whole thing surrounding like three D three D,
- 20:43Speaker 2: three D, three D three D, and then it just
- 20:45Speaker 2: went by.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Bi Yeah, it was there and it was gone.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Stopped hearing about it. You know. I've had the question
- 20:50Speaker 1: in the past two about the Apple Watch. Can somebody
- 20:54Speaker 1: get an Apple Watch, maybe go into Verizon or motor
- 20:58Speaker 1: Rope wherever. What if store they shot at and get
- 21:02Speaker 1: a watch with phone service on it, a cellular service,
- 21:07Speaker 1: and not have to buy a brand new iPhone.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I believe you have to have it set up via
- 21:12Speaker 2: an iPhone. I don't know, right, because I know that,
- 21:16Speaker 2: like I have my old watch still paired to my
- 21:18Speaker 2: phone and when I repaired it, it said set up
- 21:21Speaker 2: this watch for somebody else, right, But it's like, what
- 21:24Speaker 2: do I You still have to have an Apple ID
- 21:26Speaker 2: you still have to have the whole thing because it's
- 21:28Speaker 2: still gonna do I'm messaging and all that stuff. So
- 21:30Speaker 2: I don't know. I honestly don't know. But it's interesting
- 21:34Speaker 2: you're not buying an Apple watch if you don't have
- 21:36Speaker 2: an iPhone, Like that's just not something people are doing.
- 21:40Speaker 1: We've been talking about the big Apple event. What did
- 21:43Speaker 1: they call it again? What was it? The awe dropping
- 21:47Speaker 1: the odd dropping event?
- 21:49Speaker 2: Based on Justin's reaction that it was pretty minimal awe droppings.
- 21:54Speaker 1: If you missed any of the event and you want
- 21:57Speaker 1: to watch it Apple dot com, you go to the website,
- 22:00Speaker 1: you'd be able to watch it there. We could take
- 22:01Speaker 1: a quick break. We got a couple of questions on
- 22:04Speaker 1: the show as well, with more of Tech Talk Radio
- 22:06Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor.
- 22:07Speaker 2: I'm Sean de Weird.
- 22:09Speaker 1: We'll be right back. You can find us on the
- 22:10Speaker 1: web at tech talk radio dot com.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Now back to tech talk Radio. Welcome back to tech
- 22:17Speaker 2: talk Radio. During the break, we had Justin join us
- 22:20Speaker 2: so he could poo poo all over the Apple event.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Guys, I have I had the most amazing nap today.
- 22:29Speaker 3: It was like eleven am until like two pm my time.
- 22:33Speaker 3: What happened during that time?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Apple had their big to do event. They're big, you know,
- 22:38Speaker 1: oh awesome, draw dropping.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Gosh, darn, I missed it. I was taking a nap. Darn.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Was there anything you have heard though that made you say, oh,
- 22:51Speaker 1: that's cool?
- 22:52Speaker 3: Not a single thing, honestly, I'm not even joking. Honestly.
- 22:56Speaker 3: I just everything that Apple does. I've said this over
- 22:59Speaker 3: and over. No, dude, everything that Apple does, Android or
- 23:02Speaker 3: Samsung or whoever, they've done it before, and Apple's is like, oh,
- 23:07Speaker 3: that sounds cool. Let's just take it and like put
- 23:09Speaker 3: a shiny new coat on it and call it ours.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Now, Okay, So they have this translation now going to
- 23:15Speaker 1: be available in the air the AirPods, which I thought
- 23:18Speaker 1: was kind of cool, but as so you put it
- 23:21Speaker 1: you put it, and I know I have an app
- 23:23Speaker 1: Google Translated app that works, and I don't know if
- 23:25Speaker 1: it works the same way. But these are designs so
- 23:28Speaker 1: that if somebody is talking to you, and you know
- 23:31Speaker 1: your wife Japanese, so if you're talking to somewhat of
- 23:33Speaker 1: her relatives, that you'd be able to understand what they're
- 23:36Speaker 1: saying and if they're wearing and they So it's built
- 23:39Speaker 1: into the the AirPod. Now that sounded pretty ground break.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Was this? Was this like something they announced today that
- 23:44Speaker 3: they were being okay? So, uh, three years ago, when
- 23:48Speaker 3: I first started working at Highland Hills, the very first
- 23:51Speaker 3: thing I did was we had a trip scheduled to Japan,
- 23:55Speaker 3: and I went to Japan and I brought along my
- 23:58Speaker 3: brand new pixel buds. I had just gotten the picks buds.
- 24:00Speaker 3: It was like the first iteration of the pixel buds.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Guess what they had Live Translate. I could put a
- 24:07Speaker 3: pixel bud in. I could put a pixel bud in
- 24:09Speaker 3: my ear and I have my phone set on Google
- 24:12Speaker 3: Translate and just do Live Translate, and I would just
- 24:15Speaker 3: set the phone on the table and the pixel buds
- 24:17Speaker 3: would repeat back to me in English what was being
- 24:19Speaker 3: said in Japanese around me. So yeah, that's.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Since twenty seventeen, three years ago.
- 24:25Speaker 1: More.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Wow, have supported real time translations.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, breaking news, guys, Apple, Apple invented the
- 24:36Speaker 3: live translate.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Breaking Yeah, well we do. Justin might bring us down
- 24:43Speaker 1: to earth on that excitement. Sorry, it's okay, it's okay
- 24:48Speaker 1: that that certainly happens.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Well, you know, I mean, I'll be the first person.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I'll be the first person to give Apple a congratulatory
- 24:55Speaker 3: you know, rundo of applause if they actually invent something. Again,
- 25:01Speaker 3: everything they do is been done five ten years ago,
- 25:05Speaker 3: and they just put a shiny coat on it and says, oh,
- 25:07Speaker 3: look what we invented. No, you did it.
- 25:09Speaker 1: So nothing yet that is going to make you say
- 25:11Speaker 1: I said I got to get an Apple. Yeah, no,
- 25:14Speaker 1: still stick with it. Now, are you getting the ten
- 25:17Speaker 1: for the Google Pixel? Because I know I have the
- 25:20Speaker 1: nine and I wasn't sure if I wanted to update,
- 25:24Speaker 1: and I was telling Justin you, I was telling Sean
- 25:26Speaker 1: you missed that. I went in and set up a
- 25:28Speaker 1: second business line and I'm using the iPhone I want
- 25:32Speaker 1: and use the iPhone Pro Max that I have and
- 25:34Speaker 1: doing that and the decision, and Glory even asked me,
- 25:38Speaker 1: she said, well, do you want to go with the
- 25:39Speaker 1: Pixel ten? I'm thinking, I don't know if there's anything
- 25:42Speaker 1: that made me say I really want to.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Well, I normally skip a generation or two. I mean
- 25:47Speaker 3: I did have the eight pro and then when the
- 25:50Speaker 3: nine pro fold that's the foldable screen. When that came out,
- 25:54Speaker 3: I was like, I have to have this. So I
- 25:58Speaker 3: went against my you know, intuition in my past experiences,
- 26:02Speaker 3: and I went ahead and I upgraded the very next generation.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Now do I want to have the ten?
- 26:09Speaker 1: Yes?
- 26:10Speaker 3: Will my wife kill me if I get the ten? Also? Yes?
- 26:15Speaker 3: So not gonna get the ten.
- 26:17Speaker 1: We were hoping to have Matt on because we know
- 26:20Speaker 1: Matt ordered it, and Matt probably by now has it.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Has he said anything to you about it?
- 26:25Speaker 3: Like I haven't talked to him in a couple of days. No,
- 26:27Speaker 3: I don't know if he actually has it or not.
- 26:28Speaker 3: But if he does has it, does have it, I'm
- 26:32Speaker 3: assuming he would probably be reaching out to us and
- 26:35Speaker 3: saying that you know, hey, this is so cool, or
- 26:37Speaker 3: you know, oh this this sucks about this or whatever.
- 26:39Speaker 3: But no, I mean, don't get me wrong, I would
- 26:42Speaker 3: like it. Now when Google releases a new phone. It's
- 26:47Speaker 3: kind of the same thing about Apple. There's not a
- 26:49Speaker 3: lot that they release when they come out with their
- 26:52Speaker 3: big releases of their flagship phones. It's not like, oh
- 26:57Speaker 3: my gosh, all this stuff is new. Google is kind
- 27:00Speaker 3: of known for just introducing features along the way and saying, oh, hey,
- 27:05Speaker 3: by the way, we're gonna do live translate now, and
- 27:08Speaker 3: or or you know, hey, you can buy a pixel
- 27:12Speaker 3: Watch and not have to have a brand new pixel
- 27:15Speaker 3: phone like Apple, so that, you know, answer your question earlier, Yeah,
- 27:19Speaker 3: you can buy a pixel Watch and just get service
- 27:22Speaker 3: on it. You don't have to buy the phone with it. Okay,
- 27:25Speaker 3: so that's kind of interesting. But no, I mean yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 3: I watched the the Google event and I was like, okay,
- 27:31Speaker 3: you know, it's it's cool, but there's not much else.
- 27:35Speaker 3: And now I did see something on X. I saw
- 27:37Speaker 3: a post on X earlier. It was a guy in Chicago.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I think, what is it. What's that big concert that
- 27:43Speaker 3: goes on in Chicago every year la Lallapalooza. Yes, Lollapalooza.
- 27:49Speaker 3: There was a guy who was I want to say,
- 27:53Speaker 3: probably a mile and a half two miles away in
- 27:57Speaker 3: a big upper story condo me and he was filming
- 28:02Speaker 3: the Lollapalooza concert. Zoomed in all the way and it
- 28:07Speaker 3: said can Apple do this? And it was a pixel phone,
- 28:11Speaker 3: it was a Pixel nine phone, and they zoomed in
- 28:14Speaker 3: almost I would say, probably at least a mile, if
- 28:17Speaker 3: not a mile and a half away, and it was
- 28:20Speaker 3: really I mean, yeah, obviously a little bit pixelated, but
- 28:22Speaker 3: it was you could make out what was going on,
- 28:24Speaker 3: you could make out the crowd, and I was like, wow,
- 28:28Speaker 3: that was amazing.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Wow, that is pretty amazing. I will say that the
- 28:32Speaker 1: camera optics on the Google Pixel are pretty amazing. It's
- 28:36Speaker 1: funny though, and I don't know if you've seen the
- 28:39Speaker 1: meme on this. As we get older, the zoom feature
- 28:42Speaker 1: on the smartphone is super important because that's what we
- 28:46Speaker 1: used to read labels. Yep, it's true. I don't know
- 28:53Speaker 1: when when's the expiration date on this? I am constantly
- 28:55Speaker 1: going to the fridge taking a picture zooming in. You know, Okay,
- 28:59Speaker 1: got to throw this thing away. You know, I should
- 29:00Speaker 1: probably do that more often. Actually, what I've been doing
- 29:02Speaker 1: is I just I look around him, like, where's my
- 29:04Speaker 1: nearest pair of reader glasses? Because I've got like seventeen
- 29:08Speaker 1: pairs around the house, like strategically placed.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Wherever I need him, right exactly, And I just grab
- 29:13Speaker 3: my reader glasses and do it. But yeah, no taking
- 29:14Speaker 3: a picture and then to zooming in on it, that
- 29:16Speaker 3: makes more sense.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Yeah, best way to get you to that, seun.
- 29:21Speaker 3: No, oh that's right, you're young, all right.
- 29:24Speaker 1: We did get a listener question, and I want to
- 29:26Speaker 1: help this guy out, real cool guy. He actually called
- 29:29Speaker 1: the station while I was on the air, and I
- 29:33Speaker 1: called him after I got off the air. So he's frustrated.
- 29:37Speaker 1: He keeps getting pop ups from McAfee on his computer.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Been that way for a couple of weeks, he said,
- 29:43Speaker 1: and to the point where it's almost thirty a day
- 29:46Speaker 1: and it's asking for him to click and pay to
- 29:48Speaker 1: remove a virus on his system. So he doesn't want
- 29:54Speaker 1: the program. So he said that he knows he has
- 29:57Speaker 1: seat cleaner and AVG on the system. So I kind
- 30:01Speaker 1: of talked him through and when we went to the
- 30:03Speaker 1: ad removed programs so he could get rid of McAfee.
- 30:07Speaker 1: It's not even installed on his computer.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Yeah, No, that's he's obviously got a piece of malware.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yeah, So I reached back out to him after, you know,
- 30:18Speaker 1: talking to you guys, and I told him, I said, well,
- 30:21Speaker 1: if anything malware, but it could also be a browser extension.
- 30:27Speaker 1: And there have been some reports lately on browser extensions
- 30:30Speaker 1: being abused and people getting you know, getting scamped by these. Yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 1: so I'm wondering, can we what would be your best
- 30:39Speaker 1: exploited explanation for somebody who doesn't know what is a
- 30:42Speaker 1: browser extension.
- 30:43Speaker 2: It's like a plug in for your browser. I can
- 30:45Speaker 2: add on it. Does they do certain things like you
- 30:47Speaker 2: can get them for ad block, you can get them
- 30:49Speaker 2: for paywall, you can get them for dark mode, you
- 30:53Speaker 2: can get him for all sorts of stuff. But browser
- 30:55Speaker 2: extensions are this generation's starch engines, search engine tabs, or
- 31:01Speaker 2: whatever you call. It's like when people would download the
- 31:03Speaker 2: search engine extension for your browser and you'd have a
- 31:05Speaker 2: Yahoo want an excite wana? Oh yeah, you know, you'd
- 31:09Speaker 2: have four search bars at the top of your browser.
- 31:12Speaker 2: So extensions are just kind of a new version of those.
- 31:15Speaker 3: I'm not sure if I'd go that far behind it,
- 31:17Speaker 3: but I see where you're going with it, and I
- 31:19Speaker 3: somewhat agree. But extensions consider multiple purposes. And the thing
- 31:23Speaker 3: about extensions, though, is you know, I don't know what
- 31:27Speaker 3: browser you're using, Firefox, Edge or Chrome. Most of these
- 31:31Speaker 3: extensions should be already vetted by the browser the company
- 31:36Speaker 3: that makes the browser, whether it be Google or Mozilla
- 31:38Speaker 3: or Microsoft. However, if you're getting extensions from random places
- 31:44Speaker 3: or going to a website and it's like, hey, this
- 31:45Speaker 3: website has an extension, do you want to install it?
- 31:47Speaker 3: And you click yes, you could very well be getting malware.
- 31:51Speaker 3: And that's obviously what's going on here. You've got a
- 31:52Speaker 3: piece of malware that is pretending to act as an
- 31:57Speaker 3: antivirus and it's not, and you need to get rid
- 32:00Speaker 3: of that that malware.
- 32:01Speaker 1: What is the best way to clear a kind of
- 32:05Speaker 1: an extension is actually just to go into your your management, right,
- 32:09Speaker 1: I mean it's or or I recommend him getting malware bytes,
- 32:13Speaker 1: and there's a tool that malware bite has that that
- 32:16Speaker 1: can root out some of the evil extensions that are
- 32:19Speaker 1: out there.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Yeah, now, some of these, some of those malwares, I'm
- 32:23Speaker 3: not saying all of them, but some of those malwares,
- 32:27Speaker 3: if you try to put on like malware bytes or
- 32:31Speaker 3: something after the fact, it can actually interrupt the installation
- 32:35Speaker 3: and prevent the installation from happening. So you got to
- 32:38Speaker 3: be careful about because so if you have a sophisticated
- 32:40Speaker 3: piece of malware, which likely what you got is probably not.
- 32:44Speaker 3: It's one of those just simple, you know scams where
- 32:47Speaker 3: you're gonna call somebody and andkay, we'll remove this malware
- 32:51Speaker 3: for a fee of you know, one hundred dollars, and
- 32:53Speaker 3: then they're actually just going to get in and steal
- 32:55Speaker 3: your money. So I would obviously not call the phone number.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I would not do anything with that. I would try to,
- 33:02Speaker 3: like Andy said, get malware bytes or something like that.
- 33:05Speaker 3: You can even if you have a friend that is
- 33:07Speaker 3: good with computers, you could even have them install on
- 33:11Speaker 3: a safe, brand new you know, flash drive malware bytes
- 33:14Speaker 3: so that it could be installed and bypass the actual
- 33:19Speaker 3: you know, downloading, which can then redirect. So you've got
- 33:23Speaker 3: to be careful about that, and careful about some of
- 33:24Speaker 3: the websites you're going to if you're going through this,
- 33:27Speaker 3: because those websites could be redirected by whatever malware is
- 33:31Speaker 3: sitting in your browser. Extension extensions could be handy. I
- 33:35Speaker 3: mean I use one pass.
- 33:37Speaker 1: It's great to be able to you want to pull
- 33:38Speaker 1: up your password, you could open open up your browser
- 33:41Speaker 1: extension and do it that way, you know, and grab
- 33:44Speaker 1: that and always have access to that. So yeah, that
- 33:46Speaker 1: could be. That could be a little challenging. And he's
- 33:49Speaker 1: noticing it and he's not clicking on it, and that's
- 33:52Speaker 1: what you never want to do. So that's that's a
- 33:55Speaker 1: good thing. So hopefully Dick is a guy's name. It
- 33:58Speaker 1: lives out here in Green Valley, So hopefully this will
- 34:01Speaker 1: will help them. And I told him to let me
- 34:03Speaker 1: know what the next step is for him. We had
- 34:04Speaker 1: another one from Nancy, but we're actually out of the
- 34:07Speaker 1: almost out of times.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Well, I was just gonna say something else, a totally
- 34:10Speaker 3: another story here. Yeah, let's go for it. It's a
- 34:12Speaker 3: little bit technology related. But as of this recording, today,
- 34:17Speaker 3: the Denver Broncos announced they're building a brand new stadium
- 34:20Speaker 3: that's going to be top of the line. It's gonna
- 34:22Speaker 3: be every top technology everywhere. It's going to make Sofi Stadium,
- 34:27Speaker 3: which is the most technology technologically advanced stadium. It's going
- 34:32Speaker 3: to make it look like abandoned warehouse.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Now, this is what is the one in Vegas, right.
- 34:37Speaker 3: No, Sofi is the one in Los Angeles.
- 34:39Speaker 1: In La Okay, Vegas.
- 34:41Speaker 3: They just built No, no, no, and no, that's that's
- 34:47Speaker 3: for the A's. Yes, the one that's built for the
- 34:49Speaker 3: Raiders is an allegiant stadium.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Okay, all right, So this new one in Denver is
- 34:55Speaker 1: going to be. Now where is it going to be.
- 34:57Speaker 3: It's gonna be just right across the street from the
- 34:59Speaker 3: current one mile. They bought a big, massive facility called
- 35:02Speaker 3: Burnham Yard, which is an old, old, old train station
- 35:05Speaker 3: rail line. It's actually older. Burnham Yard is older than
- 35:08Speaker 3: Denver itself. And so that rail yard is now going
- 35:12Speaker 3: to be repurposed into not only just a stadium, but
- 35:15Speaker 3: an incomplete district. It's going to have housing, it's going
- 35:19Speaker 3: to have restaurants, it's going to have entertainment. It's going
- 35:21Speaker 3: to have and the stadium all by the way, is
- 35:24Speaker 3: going to be retractable roof. So then we can have
- 35:28Speaker 3: a Super Bowl, we can have the Final Four, we
- 35:31Speaker 3: can have WWE, WrestleMania, we can have all kinds of
- 35:35Speaker 3: other stuff that can happen year around and make Denver
- 35:38Speaker 3: once again an entertainment destination, not just oky let's go
- 35:42Speaker 3: to the mountains and go skiing. But this venue is
- 35:45Speaker 3: going to have amazing technology behind it. And honestly, you
- 35:49Speaker 3: got to look at is if you don't know who
- 35:51Speaker 3: owns the Denver broncos it is the richest owners in
- 35:55Speaker 3: NFL history. It is the Walter Penne Group. Now Walton
- 35:59Speaker 3: who Walton, Sam Walton, the owner of Walmart. It's her,
- 36:03Speaker 3: It's his daughter who's married to Greg Penner, and they
- 36:07Speaker 3: are the richest owners. I think it's a net worth
- 36:09Speaker 3: of eighty seven billion dollars.
- 36:12Speaker 1: This chunk a change, yeah.
- 36:13Speaker 3: And there there's this stadium is estimated to be between
- 36:16Speaker 3: four and six billion dollars.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Amazing. All right, we'll come back. We'll take Nancy's question
- 36:23Speaker 1: with more of tech Talk Radio.
- 36:24Speaker 3: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm justin.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Let me send us an X at tech talk Radio.
- 36:29Speaker 1: We'll be right back and now back to tech Talk Radio.
- 36:33Speaker 3: And in this week, in the latest episode of the
- 36:37Speaker 3: Internet Never Loses. So a couple what was it last week?
- 36:42Speaker 3: Last week there was a Marlin's Phillies baseball game, and
- 36:47Speaker 3: there was a wholesome moment where a dad, a dad
- 36:50Speaker 3: caught a foul ball and gave it to his son
- 36:54Speaker 3: and was hugging his son. And it was kind of
- 36:56Speaker 3: a cool father son moment. And then Karen, which I
- 37:01Speaker 3: think that's her name, we're just gonna call her. Karen
- 37:04Speaker 3: walks over to the guy and demands the ball and
- 37:07Speaker 3: says that that's my ball, and the father's like, what
- 37:10Speaker 3: are you talking about? It didn't it didn't you didn't
- 37:12Speaker 3: have it. It wasn't yours. It came from the field.
- 37:14Speaker 1: And she got right in his face.
- 37:16Speaker 3: She got right in his face, yelling and screaming at him,
- 37:18Speaker 3: and he was like, you know what, fine, just take
- 37:19Speaker 3: the ball, take the ball and leave. Go, go go.
- 37:22Speaker 3: And so she got the ball and she walked away
- 37:24Speaker 3: all happy that the.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Little boys to celebrating his tenth birthday.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Yes, look on his face, yeah, he was so he
- 37:31Speaker 3: was so deflated about it. Well it ends in a
- 37:35Speaker 3: good story though, because after that happened the Marlins, even
- 37:39Speaker 3: though he was a Phillies fan, the Marlins actually went
- 37:42Speaker 3: up to there and gave him a goodie bag and
- 37:44Speaker 3: gave him forgot about that. Yeah, he gave him a
- 37:46Speaker 3: goodie bag of all kinds of Marlins gear and everything.
- 37:48Speaker 3: And then after the game he got to go backstage
- 37:51Speaker 3: or behind the scenes in the player's tunnel and meet
- 37:55Speaker 3: Harrison Bader, the guy that hit the home run that
- 37:58Speaker 3: the kid would have had, and he gave him a
- 38:00Speaker 3: signed bat, a batch better than the ball. Yeah, totally.
- 38:03Speaker 3: And and but here's the the best part about this.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Though the Internet never loses, the Internet has went after
- 38:10Speaker 3: this woman tried to figure her name out. I think
- 38:13Speaker 3: they actually did figure her name out, but I don't
- 38:15Speaker 3: know it, and we're not gonna say it on air here,
- 38:17Speaker 3: But all of the memes that have been going out
- 38:21Speaker 3: over this, it is so hilarious. Like, for one, they
- 38:24Speaker 3: released a picture of a spirit Halloween costume and it
- 38:29Speaker 3: was called Baseball Karen and it was literally a Karen
- 38:33Speaker 3: haircut with glasses and a Phillies a shirt and a
- 38:37Speaker 3: pair of ripped jeans and it says, ball not included.
- 38:40Speaker 3: You can't tell me we're not going to see a
- 38:42Speaker 3: kid come into the house on Halloween dressed in that.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I would.
- 38:45Speaker 1: I would.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I would love to see that, to be honest, I
- 38:47Speaker 3: would get I'd probably give them all my candy.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:50Speaker 3: And then and then also somebody actually redid the the
- 38:53Speaker 3: cover of Angels in the Outfield, a movie from Disney,
- 38:57Speaker 3: and put Karen's in the outfield and put her picture
- 39:00Speaker 3: on it, and then I see another picture of Charlie
- 39:02Speaker 3: and what was that.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Willy Way the original Willy.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Walker when when Charlie pulls out the golden ticket and
- 39:09Speaker 3: he's looking at it, somebody superimposed an image of the
- 39:12Speaker 3: lady tapping him on the shoulders saying, give me back
- 39:14Speaker 3: that golden ticket. Trouble, you took it from me.
- 39:17Speaker 1: I saw another one with they, uh, you know, dogs
- 39:20Speaker 1: play frisbee, you know, coster frisbee and the dogs will
- 39:23Speaker 1: catch it, and it was her catching a frisbee and
- 39:25Speaker 1: the dog jumping in the air next room with this
- 39:27Speaker 1: surprised look on his face. Yep, it's just like you said.
- 39:31Speaker 1: The Internet doesn't give up, and people have been really
- 39:34Speaker 1: creative and some of these memes, the AI that they've
- 39:37Speaker 1: created with this has been like, wait, did that really happen?
- 39:41Speaker 3: Wait?
- 39:41Speaker 1: What the heck is that?
- 39:42Speaker 3: It's yeah, this is this is crazy, but there's so
- 39:45Speaker 3: much it's so it's so entertaining. The Internet just never loses.
- 39:48Speaker 3: I saw a basically uh an AI reenactment of it.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Somebody posted the video to AI and said and said,
- 39:56Speaker 3: I want you to redo this in the style of
- 39:59Speaker 3: Lord of the Rings and so it showed the lady
- 40:03Speaker 3: taking the ball from the guy, and then the camera
- 40:06Speaker 3: artificially zooms in on her face as she's walking back
- 40:08Speaker 3: to her seat, and the lady transforms into Gollum yes,
- 40:12Speaker 3: and then takes the ball and looks at it and says,
- 40:14Speaker 3: my precious.
- 40:16Speaker 1: So here's the thing though, all right, and I'm gonna
- 40:18Speaker 1: say it, maybe I'll get some hate, but it did
- 40:22Speaker 1: look like the ball was right where she was.
- 40:25Speaker 3: It landed the roque.
- 40:27Speaker 2: It's called the spirit of baseball, right. Everybody knows if
- 40:30Speaker 2: there's empty seats and a file ball comes, you're running
- 40:33Speaker 2: over to try and get it right. Just every time
- 40:36Speaker 2: a baseball goes into the stands, you have to expect it.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Everybody's going for it.
- 40:41Speaker 3: But here's the thing. She claims that she owned those
- 40:44Speaker 3: seats in front of her, even though nobody was sitting there.
- 40:47Speaker 3: She said, those were my seats. That's what she said,
- 40:50Speaker 3: Those were my seats. Tough bleep, yeah exactly, Like I'm
- 40:54Speaker 3: sorry nobody was sitting there. I don't care if you
- 40:57Speaker 3: owned the whole stadium, like tough, the ball is there,
- 41:00Speaker 3: nobody's there. It's it's first come, first served. But but
- 41:03Speaker 3: the thing is is everybody's talking about this father, the
- 41:06Speaker 3: one that got the ball for his son, and they're
- 41:08Speaker 3: saying that took the.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Ball out of his glove. Yeah, well I took He
- 41:11Speaker 1: took the ball out of the glove and he handed
- 41:12Speaker 1: it back to the lady and was like, get out
- 41:14Speaker 1: of here.
- 41:15Speaker 3: They're all saying the same thing. They're saying, the guy
- 41:17Speaker 3: handled it. Well, the guy handled it with clasped, with dignity.
- 41:21Speaker 3: He taught his son a lesson about how to just
- 41:24Speaker 3: you know, deal with situations that arise like this and
- 41:27Speaker 3: how to remain calm. And all I could keep thinking
- 41:31Speaker 3: was I would not be handling it the same way.
- 41:35Speaker 2: No way, man, I would not.
- 41:38Speaker 3: God love this guy, but I will getting in that
- 41:42Speaker 3: lady's face.
- 41:44Speaker 2: You run up to me, put your hands on me,
- 41:47Speaker 2: and start yelling at me. Oh yeah, oh that's a problem.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Yeah, which is exactly what.
- 41:51Speaker 3: We're gonna fight. We're gonna fight.
- 41:53Speaker 1: I almost think she grabbed his arm.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I don't know, she grabbed his arm and kind of
- 41:57Speaker 3: pulled him over, and that's why he was like what
- 41:59Speaker 3: what what? And he kind of like because he had
- 42:00Speaker 3: his eyes closed and he woke up and he's like, well, whoa,
- 42:02Speaker 3: what's going on? Because he was surprised, because who's grabbing
- 42:05Speaker 3: my arm and pulling me away? Like she didn't get
- 42:09Speaker 3: cold cocked? Oh, I mean that's what I was just
- 42:11Speaker 3: about to say. I was like, if that was me
- 42:13Speaker 3: and somebody pulled on my arm like that, I'd be like, bam,
- 42:15Speaker 3: oh sorry.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Imagine though, this little ten year old, even though that
- 42:19Speaker 1: he was bummed out for for a bit, he's gotten
- 42:23Speaker 1: much better than he would have got. I mean, the
- 42:25Speaker 1: ball would be one cool thing, you know, but now
- 42:28Speaker 1: he's got a bad he's got you got a chance
- 42:30Speaker 1: to meet his favorite players.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Off the spirit of baseball, right, It's like these things
- 42:35Speaker 2: happen and to get the fans engaged. These are little
- 42:39Speaker 2: things that help people remember the sport.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Yeah, so ask you how long will it take the
- 42:43Speaker 1: Internet to leave her alone?
- 42:46Speaker 3: It was just, oh, they won't do every meme. It's
- 42:49Speaker 3: she's canceled like literally hashtag it's gonna be.
- 42:52Speaker 2: It's gonna it's gonna be a Phillies meme for the
- 42:54Speaker 2: rest of the Phillies existence.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Yeah, even at the end of the year. Easily easily.
- 42:58Speaker 1: I tell the other, the other the one that maybe
- 43:00Speaker 1: kind of laugh was the the cold Play the guy
- 43:03Speaker 1: who was at the cold Play concert that was obviously
- 43:06Speaker 1: not doing what he should be doing, right, and he
- 43:09Speaker 1: was hugging somebody that worked for him and they just
- 43:12Speaker 1: looked too clot something or other. Yeah, they put they
- 43:15Speaker 1: put her in his arms.
- 43:17Speaker 3: In the Seriously, I gotta find that one.
- 43:23Speaker 1: There's got to be a page dedicated to these beams.
- 43:26Speaker 1: You know, something happens the next thing, you know, it's
- 43:28Speaker 1: just like again it does not forget a very good
- 43:31Speaker 1: point on that. All right, let's see if we get
- 43:35Speaker 1: to if we get to Nancy's question really quick that
- 43:38Speaker 1: she had, it.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Better be about baseball. Nancy.
- 43:41Speaker 1: It's not sorry, Nancy's in an old stomping ground, a
- 43:44Speaker 1: ranchom arg She said. Help. You've mentioned in the past shows,
- 43:47Speaker 1: and now I finally decided to take my music off
- 43:50Speaker 1: my CDs. Is there a way to do this that
- 43:53Speaker 1: I could do myself?
- 43:56Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 43:56Speaker 1: Built in built in really.
- 43:59Speaker 2: When just the built in media player just rip click rip.
- 44:06Speaker 1: So I don't know if she's running Mac or Windows,
- 44:08Speaker 1: but it's say, if she's running Windows.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Is there is the real question is does your computer
- 44:13Speaker 2: have a CD drive?
- 44:15Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, forgot about that point?
- 44:18Speaker 2: Is it. Is it a laptop? Is it a desktop? Right?
- 44:21Speaker 2: You can get portable USB CD drives. They're not. They're
- 44:24Speaker 2: relatively inexpensive the Mac. The Mac super Drive will work
- 44:28Speaker 2: on a PC if you have a Mac super Drive.
- 44:32Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean you're looking at maybe spending thirty
- 44:34Speaker 2: forty bucks on a USB CD drive that you can
- 44:36Speaker 2: just pop.
- 44:37Speaker 1: It makes one too pop in the.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Disc you open up the media player. I'd have to
- 44:41Speaker 2: look at it specifically. But that's how I did it.
- 44:43Speaker 2: It's how I ripped allmine. I have a tower on
- 44:45Speaker 2: the back with a CD drive in it. Dropped it
- 44:47Speaker 2: in Rip hit rip. It takes six seven minutes to
- 44:50Speaker 2: rip it out. It's connected to the internet. It'll pull
- 44:54Speaker 2: down album information for you and everything you get. Rip go,
- 44:57Speaker 2: rip go, rip go.
- 44:59Speaker 1: No, I want to. I do want to recommend, though,
- 45:01Speaker 1: if anybody is going to be doing this, not only
- 45:04Speaker 1: save it on your your drive. You could save it
- 45:07Speaker 1: to cloud if you have the cloud storage to do that.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Drive it or get it.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean I guess you could, but or
- 45:13Speaker 1: get a one TERRORBYT or two terrorbyte drive or even higher,
- 45:16Speaker 1: depending on how many songs or how many CDs you have,
- 45:19Speaker 1: and you could do that as well and be able
- 45:21Speaker 1: to save that so that we always have a redundant copy,
- 45:24Speaker 1: because nothing worse than doing all that work and then
- 45:27Speaker 1: something happening to your computer and losing the hard drive
- 45:30Speaker 1: and you lose all of those images or those the
- 45:33Speaker 1: the audio.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Windows Media Player, well rip so if Windows eleven, uh,
- 45:38Speaker 2: Windows Windows Media Player VLC, you can also rip them
- 45:42Speaker 2: from VLC.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Oh. VLC is great. I've actually I had all these
- 45:46Speaker 1: old flash videos, you know, shockwave Flash, and I was like, well,
- 45:50Speaker 1: how am I ever going to look at these again?
- 45:52Speaker 1: And then somebody said, well, wait, just use VLC. I
- 45:55Speaker 1: had no idea VLC. Well, Bobby does it. I know that,
- 45:58Speaker 1: but you got to pay for that VLC, don't.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Vlc's the Swiss Army Nets, the Swiss Army Knife of
- 46:03Speaker 2: the Internet, and that's what they call it. It'll play
- 46:04Speaker 2: literally almost every video or audio FI you can think
- 46:07Speaker 2: of that exists.
- 46:08Speaker 1: I want to say again some time here, I've been
- 46:11Speaker 1: delving deeper into Riverside FM, and I got to just say,
- 46:15Speaker 1: that's the program we use. It's not an FM radio station.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Riverside FM is what we're using for the video production
- 46:22Speaker 1: of the show. We used to use well, we've used
- 46:25Speaker 1: many over the years, but recently we were using Skype,
- 46:29Speaker 1: and then we use Zoom, and then we would take
- 46:32Speaker 1: Zoom and we'd put it into Opus clips and we
- 46:35Speaker 1: would pay a lot for zoom in low quality. And
- 46:39Speaker 1: we're not even talking you know standard.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Don't like three sixty p.
- 46:44Speaker 1: It was awful. It was like an old webcam and
- 46:47Speaker 1: how people would take videos of this and then we
- 46:50Speaker 1: would pay, you know, a fee per month to opis.
- 46:54Speaker 1: We found Riverside does all of it, does editing, does
- 46:57Speaker 1: the whole bit. But recently we had a situation and
- 47:00Speaker 1: where on the show, and I got to figure out
- 47:03Speaker 1: way I could post this. Uh, you guys, Amanda has
- 47:06Speaker 1: been on the show. I cent her the video on it.
- 47:08Speaker 1: We've been. She's been trying to get me to watch
- 47:11Speaker 1: that new show you guys were talking about a few
- 47:13Speaker 1: weeks ago, the one the musical that is on Netflix
- 47:18Speaker 1: that everybody's talking about. Yeah, I still I still haven't
- 47:22Speaker 1: seen it yet. Right. She every day is asked me,
- 47:25Speaker 1: have you seen it yet? Have you seen it yet?
- 47:27Speaker 1: So I said this with her. We did a show
- 47:28Speaker 1: and I remember, Sean, you were in the back of
- 47:30Speaker 1: the room. Uh, and we started the show and you
- 47:33Speaker 1: had to run back to the microphone. And during that
- 47:38Speaker 1: she started laughing. We were all laughing, and she said,
- 47:41Speaker 1: you know, at least I didn't and she used an expletive,
- 47:44Speaker 1: we can't say here, mess it up or she said,
- 47:47Speaker 1: didn't do that this time, and it was like, okay,
- 47:49Speaker 1: we just started from scratch. Well I still had that clip,
- 47:52Speaker 1: so I put it in the Riverside FM and I
- 47:55Speaker 1: took that bad word that she said that we can't
- 47:58Speaker 1: repeat here, and I changed it to mess it. Ai
- 48:02Speaker 1: took her voice, recreated it and replaced that word with
- 48:07Speaker 1: the word mess and completely fixed it up.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Huh.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I tried it again on justin you said one a
- 48:15Speaker 1: few weeks back, did the same thing. Yeah, completely cleaned
- 48:20Speaker 1: it up and it was you can't even tell.
- 48:24Speaker 3: I want to see that.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Riverside FM is is pretty amazing. And he will
- 48:28Speaker 1: even clean up audio. So if you're doing audio, do transcriptions,
- 48:32Speaker 1: you can do it. I can do a teller prompter
- 48:34Speaker 1: on it. I mean the whole bit. So if you're
- 48:37Speaker 1: looking for a program to use for doing any kind
- 48:40Speaker 1: of podcasting or video, it can work for you.
- 48:43Speaker 3: That sounds it's awesome. Hey, remember, uh, you know, I
- 48:46Speaker 3: bought this the camera that I'm using right now this
- 48:49Speaker 3: He asked me, what are you using? So it's the
- 48:51Speaker 3: Sony A seven Mark four. I bought it last well,
- 48:55Speaker 3: actually no, I bought it earlier this year. It is
- 48:57Speaker 3: probably like April.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Or something like that.
- 49:00Speaker 3: M hm, no, no, I'm sorry, No, I bought it
- 49:01Speaker 3: last last last anyway, yeah, last year. Yeah, I did
- 49:05Speaker 3: great camera. It's a really nice mirrorless full frame camera.
- 49:10Speaker 3: Got an extra lens on eBay that was really nice
- 49:12Speaker 3: for it. Anyway, during that process, I registered the camera
- 49:15Speaker 3: with Sony because you know, they're like, hey, extra warranty
- 49:19Speaker 3: register you get a Sweepsteaks. Well I won a five
- 49:22Speaker 3: hundred dollars gift card and I was like, wow, this
- 49:24Speaker 3: is crazy. So I actually used it. I don't remember
- 49:26Speaker 3: what I bought with it, but I bought some stuff. Anyway,
- 49:29Speaker 3: Come fast forward to early July. I get another email
- 49:33Speaker 3: from Sony Sweepstak saying, hey, you just want a gift card,
- 49:36Speaker 3: a five hundred dollar gift card, and I'm like, wait,
- 49:38Speaker 3: what can I win?
- 49:39Speaker 1: Twice?
- 49:40Speaker 3: So I responded back and said yeah, I'll take it,
- 49:42Speaker 3: and they're like, okay, cool. Allow six to eight weeks.
- 49:44Speaker 1: So what do you give with the five hundred dollars.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Well, this five hundred dollars, I actually just bought a
- 49:49Speaker 3: new piece of tech and it's actually going to be
- 49:51Speaker 3: here tomorrow. I bought a new three D printer.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Oh, but now, what happened to your last one?
- 49:58Speaker 3: Well, I mean I still have it, but it's old.
- 50:01Speaker 3: I mean it's like the one I had was an
- 50:02Speaker 3: Ender three. It was kind of probably second generation of
- 50:07Speaker 3: three D printers. I mean it was, you know, no
- 50:10Speaker 3: no auto bed leveling, which is a big thing, only
- 50:14Speaker 3: one piece of filament per I had to upgrade the
- 50:17Speaker 3: crap out of it just to be able to make
- 50:18Speaker 3: it work right, right, Anyway, this new one is much better.
- 50:24Speaker 3: It's not quite as big as the end of three,
- 50:26Speaker 3: but it does automatic bed leveling, which again is very
- 50:29Speaker 3: very important. If you want your three D print to
- 50:31Speaker 3: turn out proper, the bed that it rests upon has
- 50:35Speaker 3: to be one level at all times, and so this
- 50:39Speaker 3: will automatically do it for you, and so that's nice. Also,
- 50:43Speaker 3: it's completely enclosed with its own filtration system, so I
- 50:46Speaker 3: can do not only just PLA printing, which is kind
- 50:49Speaker 3: of the weaker more hobbyist quality of filament. I can
- 50:54Speaker 3: do ABS, which is more industrial strength. If I want
- 50:58Speaker 3: to put some really good quality builds out there, I
- 51:01Speaker 3: can use ABS, and I can use it in an
- 51:04Speaker 3: enclosed space without having to worry about filtration.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Wow. Pretty good stuff. So if you decided what's gonna
- 51:11Speaker 1: be your first project.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Uh, well, my first project is to figure out where
- 51:15Speaker 3: I'm gonna put it. Because my old computer desk that
- 51:17Speaker 3: I had had a nice little side area that I
- 51:20Speaker 3: could have my three D printer on. But now with
- 51:22Speaker 3: this new layout, I don't have anywhere that I can
- 51:25Speaker 3: put a three D printer. So I am just not
- 51:27Speaker 3: sure what I'm gonna do with it. But my first
- 51:29Speaker 3: print in the bedroom yeah yeah, right, well the right
- 51:32Speaker 3: in the kitchen table. Yeah, mice is gonna love that.
- 51:36Speaker 1: What I used to do.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, So I think my first print that I'm
- 51:40Speaker 3: gonna do, I think I'm gonna do probably some more
- 51:43Speaker 3: like towel hangers, or like a doorstop for the house,
- 51:47Speaker 3: because I got a bunch of doors in the house
- 51:48Speaker 3: that we like to keep the windows open and the
- 51:50Speaker 3: door's automatically shut because of the windflow. So having some
- 51:53Speaker 3: more doorstops would be nice.
- 51:55Speaker 1: But then I want to.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Use it for just random random things I find on
- 51:58Speaker 3: thing of verse and three D printable printables dot Com
- 52:02Speaker 3: is another website. So yeah, I'm excited.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Or we'll have to talk more about that next week
- 52:06Speaker 1: on the show.
- 52:07Speaker 2: The benefit is that somebody else has already designed it right,
- 52:10Speaker 2: so you don't have design it like the That's that's
- 52:11Speaker 2: the beauty of the Internet. You can just search for
- 52:13Speaker 2: it cool, download the download the s A or whatever,
- 52:17Speaker 2: the sl T, s TL, STL, yep, put it, put
- 52:19Speaker 2: it in the slicer, print.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Yep, exactly, and and and I don't have to worry
- 52:24Speaker 3: about design, like you said, but if I want to,
- 52:25Speaker 3: I might start dabbling an auto fusion or something like that.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Excuse me, all right, we're gonna take another quick great week,
- 52:31Speaker 1: come back with more of tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 52:33Speaker 1: all right'm sewing to weird and I'm justin Let me
- 52:35Speaker 1: send us a message on Facebook at tech Talkers.
- 52:39Speaker 3: We'll be right back and now factor tech talk Radio.
- 52:42Speaker 3: Every week, Andy's always asking us, you guys got a
- 52:44Speaker 3: website of the week, A website of the week, website, website, website, website, website,
- 52:48Speaker 3: I Browns the same, like ten websites like every single day.
- 52:51Speaker 2: I don't.
- 52:51Speaker 3: I don't go and scour the internet like Andy does. No,
- 52:54Speaker 3: but I did. I actually came across a website that
- 52:57Speaker 3: I wanted to share with you all. And if you
- 52:59Speaker 3: are old school video gamers, I'm talking like Dossor or
- 53:05Speaker 3: Windows ninety five or Windows ninety eight, there's a website
- 53:10Speaker 3: that has digitally recreated the boxes for all of these
- 53:16Speaker 3: video games that came out I think right now, as
- 53:19Speaker 3: of now, he's got over one thousand boxes filling up
- 53:23Speaker 3: his quote unquote nerd wall into shiny three D. So
- 53:27Speaker 3: if you go to a website called Big Box Collection
- 53:31Speaker 3: dot com again, it's Big Boxcollection dot com. These games
- 53:37Speaker 3: back in the day, back in Windows ninety five, Windows
- 53:39Speaker 3: ninety eight, they came out in these like basically like
- 53:42Speaker 3: dictionary sized boxes. That's huge. They were huge. I mean
- 53:45Speaker 3: they were like, yeah, like dictionaries. So what he's done
- 53:49Speaker 3: is he's taken all of these old video games and
- 53:53Speaker 3: digitally scan them, and you can actually move the box
- 53:56Speaker 3: around and if it has like one of those opening
- 53:58Speaker 3: cover flaps, you can actually open the cover flap and
- 54:02Speaker 3: look at it. But he has scanned everything, not just
- 54:04Speaker 3: the front and back, but it is a full three
- 54:07Speaker 3: D rendering of all like over a thousand different classic
- 54:11Speaker 3: games like Privateer. My God, there's Hecks, There's Diablo, Wizard Warriors,
- 54:19Speaker 3: the original Doom.
- 54:21Speaker 1: What was your favorite? Did you have a favorite box?
- 54:24Speaker 3: I'd have to say, well, Diablo. Diablo two was really
- 54:27Speaker 3: really cool, I'd have to say otherwise, besides that grand
- 54:30Speaker 3: Theft out of Vice City for me was this different
- 54:32Speaker 3: because it had all these cartoon looking characters on the
- 54:34Speaker 3: front of it, but it was just such an unimposing box.
- 54:39Speaker 3: But when you actually played the game, you're like, oh,
- 54:41Speaker 3: my god.
- 54:43Speaker 1: To of mine, to of mine, need for speed And
- 54:45Speaker 1: then I even put this on my wall at the
- 54:48Speaker 1: station that I worked at, Redneck Rampage. Oh oh yeah,
- 54:51Speaker 1: I just absolutely loved that one.
- 54:54Speaker 3: They even have the original Zork like Zork, which was
- 54:59Speaker 3: Did you have.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Favor Diablo too? The Diablo, the Diablo series books boxes
- 55:04Speaker 2: are really cool. I mean I still have my Diablo
- 55:06Speaker 2: two boxes.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Right, So, what's a website address? Again?
- 55:10Speaker 3: One last time? It is Big Boxcollection dot Com.
- 55:14Speaker 1: All right, that's it for this week's Tech Talk Radio.
- 55:16Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor.
- 55:17Speaker 2: I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm Justin.
- 55:19Speaker 3: Let me find us on the web at tech talk
- 55:22Speaker 3: radio dot com. Have yourselves great week. We'll see you
