Speaker 1: My name is Craig Waite. Thanks very much for joining us.
• 0:02
Speaker 1: We're with you up until five o'clock this afternoon. Coming
• 0:06
Speaker 1: up in a few minutes, we'll visit with Greg Tepper,
• 0:09
Speaker 1: the managing editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, talk
• 0:12
Speaker 1: college and high school football in the state of Texas
• 0:16
Speaker 1: going into this next important crucial week. Today is the
• 0:22
Speaker 1: NFL trade deadline, and there's already been some dealings going on.
• 0:28
Speaker 1: So the Among the trades that have happened the Washington Commanders,
• 0:37
Speaker 1: who were thought to be a seller not a buyer
• 0:39
Speaker 1: before the season began. Oh no, The Commanders are seven
• 0:44
Speaker 1: to two, and so they want to solidify their secondary.
• 0:48
Speaker 1: They traded for Saints cornerback Marshawn Lattimore. Latimore, of course,
• 0:52
Speaker 1: has been good, but he's been hurt. The Commander's traded
• 0:55
Speaker 1: twenty twenty five picks in the third and fourth rounds,
• 0:58
Speaker 1: and they also gave the Saints to twenty five sixth
• 1:01
Speaker 1: round pick that they acquired in a previous trade this
• 1:04
Speaker 1: summer for defensive tackle John Ridgeway. In addition to Lottimore,
• 1:08
Speaker 1: Washington received a twenty twenty five fifth round pick, so
• 1:13
Speaker 1: they still have seven picks for twenty twenty five because
• 1:17
Speaker 1: they had all those picks because they've been bad. Washington
• 1:21
Speaker 1: ranks twenty first in yards per pass attempt, but fifth
• 1:25
Speaker 1: and passing yards per game. The Commanders are eighteenth and
• 1:28
Speaker 1: opposing quarterback passer rating. I mentioned Latimer. He made the
• 1:33
Speaker 1: Pro Bowl four times between twenty seventeen and twenty twenty one,
• 1:36
Speaker 1: but he's missed nineteen games of the past two seasons,
• 1:39
Speaker 1: including two games with a the last two games with
• 1:44
Speaker 1: a hamstring injury. So there's one trade that happened. A
• 1:48
Speaker 1: second cornerback trade is the Rams sending Tredevious White to
• 1:54
Speaker 1: the Ravens. He, along with White, the Rams traded a
• 2:00
Speaker 1: seventh round pick in twenty twenty seven to Baltimore for
• 2:04
Speaker 1: a twenty twenty six seventh round selection, so there was
• 2:11
Speaker 1: that involved with it. Sources in indicated ESPN that the
• 2:16
Speaker 1: Rams were up in trade to trading White. He hadn't
• 2:19
Speaker 1: played in a game with the Rams since September twenty ninth.
• 2:21
Speaker 1: He has twelve tackles to passes defended. He had been
• 2:25
Speaker 1: released by the Buffalo Bills earlier this year. He's had
• 2:28
Speaker 1: a lot of injuries of the course of his season
• 2:30
Speaker 1: and when the Rams of late, and they won three
• 2:34
Speaker 1: in a row to get back to five hundred to
• 2:36
Speaker 1: four and four after starting one in four. What they've
• 2:38
Speaker 1: done is they've been able to get some big stops
• 2:42
Speaker 1: from the guys they have out there. They had the
• 2:44
Speaker 1: one hundred three yard pick six returned for the touchdown
• 2:49
Speaker 1: by Kitchens, who had two interceptions in the game, so
• 2:52
Speaker 1: that was big as well. The Steelers also made a deal.
• 2:56
Speaker 1: They made a trade for the Jets Mike Williams and
• 3:00
Speaker 1: and the Packers Preston Smith. So they got Mike Williams
• 3:05
Speaker 1: from the Jets in exchange for a twenty twenty five
• 3:08
Speaker 1: fifth round pick. They also made another deadline day move
• 3:12
Speaker 1: in acquiring Packers pass rusher Preston Smith for a seventh
• 3:16
Speaker 1: round selection. So in Mike Williams, there's a complimentary receiver
• 3:21
Speaker 1: to go with George Pickens after the team had traded
• 3:24
Speaker 1: Deontae Johnson to the Panthers for Dante Jackson in the offseason,
• 3:28
Speaker 1: so there's a there's some additional help there in the
• 3:34
Speaker 1: receiving department and along the defensive front for Pittsburgh. And yes,
• 3:39
Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys made a deal today. They picked up
• 3:44
Speaker 1: Jonathan Mingo, the wide receiver from the Carolina Panthers, and
• 3:48
Speaker 1: a twenty twenty five seventh round pick from Carolina in
• 3:55
Speaker 1: exchange for a twenty twenty five fourth round pick. That's it,
• 3:59
Speaker 1: So it's not a bad pick up there, you know.
• 4:03
Speaker 1: Jerry Jones had said they had some things in the
• 4:06
Speaker 1: mill for a trade, but he was not expecting any
• 4:09
Speaker 1: kind of a big, blockbuster name. And this morning at
• 4:14
Speaker 1: one to five three the fan in Dallas, he said
• 4:15
Speaker 1: the receiver the Cowboys would recryre would be somebody they
• 4:17
Speaker 1: felt highly about during the draft process. So they did
• 4:22
Speaker 1: make a deal and pick up Jonathan Mingo from Carolina
• 4:25
Speaker 1: and also got a seventh round pick in exchange for
• 4:27
Speaker 1: a twenty twenty five fourth round pick. So yes, the
• 4:29
Speaker 1: Cowboys you can say were active on the trade deadline. Also,
• 4:36
Speaker 1: the Lions had, of course made the deal with to
• 4:39
Speaker 1: get Zadarias Smith before the deadline from the Cleveland Browns. Today.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: They've been trying to bolster that defensive line since losing
• 4:49
Speaker 1: Aiden Hutchinson last month. They also received a twenty twenty
• 4:53
Speaker 1: sixth seventh round selection from the Browns in exchange to
• 4:56
Speaker 1: give Cleveland a twenty twenty five fifth rounder and a
• 4:59
Speaker 1: twenty twenty six sixth round. So some trades, some deals
• 5:03
Speaker 1: going down here on trade deadline day. This is a
• 5:07
Speaker 1: very impactful Tuesday going on, you know, obviously with our
• 5:11
Speaker 1: country going to the polls today with voting, and the
• 5:15
Speaker 1: college football playoff rankings being released tonight, and in addition
• 5:20
Speaker 1: to that, the NFL trade deadline. So there's stuff going
• 5:22
Speaker 1: on with all of that, all right, So and they
• 5:26
Speaker 1: get you caught up on the NFL trade If we
• 5:27
Speaker 1: have more of those NFL trade deadline deals, will let
• 5:32
Speaker 1: you know about those coming up. We're going to visit

• 5:55

• 5:58
Speaker 1: the regular season in Texas high school for ball. The
• 6:01
Speaker 1: playoff brackets come down. In fact, I think and we'll
