- 0:57SPEAKER_00: For 11 generations, the Neely family has been making whiskey.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Long before there was a distillery in Sparta, Kentucky, there were family recipes, copper stills, moonshine runs, and a tradition passed from one generation to the next.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Today, that history lives on at Neely Family Distillery.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Here, whiskey is made with sweet mash fermentation, open-top cypress fermenters, and copper pot stills.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: But history here doesn't just sit behind glass.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: An original French absinthe still built in the 1890s is still producing spirits today.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: And now a brand new three-chamber column still begins another chapter.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Old World Tradition, Modern Innovation.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Eleven generations later, the Nealy family is still doing what they've always done.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Making whiskey.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Neely Family Distillery.

- 3:55SPEAKER_12: Tonight we're gonna do Bourbon on the Banks review.
- 3:59SPEAKER_12: I know that Super Nash was gonna come in, but he's at his grandson's high school football game, and I'm tiny here.
- 4:09SPEAKER_12: And let's just see what where let's just that.
- 4:13SPEAKER_12: I don't think I can get that in this one.
- 4:16SPEAKER_12: I wonder if I can.
- 4:18SPEAKER_12: I'm trying.
- 4:20SPEAKER_12: Let's see, what do we got going there?
- 4:23SPEAKER_12: I gotta get that out of the way.
- 4:25SPEAKER_12: Well, that looks good there, but do I have it in?
- 4:28SPEAKER_12: It's popped in right there and it's not covering me up.
- 4:32SPEAKER_12: I mean, I can look around it, you know what I mean?
- 4:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I'm looking around it that way to see the screen, and then I'm out, and then I'm in, and then I'm out.
- 4:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:41SPEAKER_12: Anyways, it's awesome to be back.
- 4:44SPEAKER_12: This third, it's gonna be a fun podcast tonight.
- 4:47SPEAKER_12: One, we're gonna review bourbon on the banks.
- 4:50SPEAKER_12: I've I'm gonna do some sharing of some of the stuff that we did so you can see.
- 4:55SPEAKER_12: And you know, go over kind of a festival, and if you're gonna do a festival like Bourbon on the Banks, how to go about it?
- 5:04SPEAKER_12: Because festivals like Kentucky Bourbon Festival or Bourbon on the Banks, Kentucky Bourbon Festival is a Thursday night with a Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
- 5:14SPEAKER_12: There might be some changes coming up, we don't know, but we'll see.
- 5:17SPEAKER_12: As of that's what it was.
- 5:19SPEAKER_12: And then Bourbon on the Banks is a Saturday, and it is a 12 at the most a six-hour festival.
- 5:28SPEAKER_12: Six hours of 60 di over 60 different distilleries, and it's a lot of fun, but what really makes it fun is what really really makes it the best is that you go down beforehand.
- 5:48SPEAKER_12: So, and and I'll say something.
- 5:50SPEAKER_12: When you go, it's not as much here in Ohio like the town itself.
- 5:55SPEAKER_12: If you're having a festival and you go to the festival, it's that day, and that's what the festival is.
- 6:03SPEAKER_12: You might go out to dinner afterwards, or if you met a group of people, you might go to a bar, but then pretty much everybody's either on their way home afterwards or spending the night, but that's it's usually a day.
- 6:16SPEAKER_12: But when it comes to Kentucky, they really know how to do this, and everybody's geared up for the festival the week before.
- 6:24SPEAKER_12: And for instance, and this is what I'm gonna do tonight is I am going to get the share screen going here, and we will start off with sharing.
- 6:41SPEAKER_12: I will share the main screen, which is right.
- 6:47SPEAKER_12: I wanna say, oh, I have to actually have to hit.
- 6:51SPEAKER_12: I want to say that's it.
- 6:52SPEAKER_12: It's photo share.
- 6:54SPEAKER_12: So then these should be right here.
- 6:57SPEAKER_12: Okay, so this is the share screen.
- 7:00SPEAKER_12: Now, if I come down like this, come on, go down.
- 7:06SPEAKER_12: So we're gonna go to the beginning of when we hit Bourbon, when Bourbon on the Bank.
- 7:14SPEAKER_12: So I drove an awful, awful long way on Saturday to get to Bourbon on the Bank, and when and I drove to Whiskey Thief.
- 7:26SPEAKER_12: So here you can see me.
- 7:29SPEAKER_12: I got there.
- 7:30SPEAKER_12: There's, I believe that's Amy and Walker, and Whiskey Thief is in the on a farm, and you can see that.
- 7:41SPEAKER_12: So it was right there, and I thought I drove the whole five hours, and I had thinking I was gonna go right to the bathroom, but I ended up here in, you know, which was kind of cool.
- 8:00SPEAKER_12: And I'm trying to think, and then that'll show you.
- 8:05SPEAKER_12: You could see that on our bus tour we picked the barrel, and that was there.
- 8:09SPEAKER_12: And I got I got some s we got some samples of the barrel pulled, and I'll show you real quick.
- 8:18SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 8:19SPEAKER_12: So how many, how many my question is how many bottles are averaging?
- 8:27SPEAKER_12: There you go.
- 8:28SPEAKER_12: Hannah.
- 8:29SPEAKER_12: There you go.
- 8:30SPEAKER_12: That's Hannah giving us a sample right there.
- 8:33SPEAKER_12: You can see that too.
- 8:35SPEAKER_12: Got to got to taste it.
- 8:36SPEAKER_12: It's still going.
- 8:37SPEAKER_12: It was turning, I believe I was there on October 2nd, and on October 1st it turned what it was supposed to be.
- 8:47SPEAKER_12: Seven years.
- 8:49SPEAKER_12: So, you know, we're just there at the farm.
- 8:53SPEAKER_12: And see, as we came in, Amsey Wenning greeted us, so that was kind of cool.
- 9:05SPEAKER_12: He was pouring the pick for the festival.
- 9:09SPEAKER_12: So we got to do a little bit of the pick for the festival, so that was kind of cool.
- 9:14SPEAKER_12: And then I think let's just see.
- 9:35SPEAKER_12: That weather forecast changed up for Saturday, thank God.
- 9:39SPEAKER_12: So you can see we're there.
- 9:41SPEAKER_12: No, I want to show you um right in the back, right here, that's Emory.
- 9:46SPEAKER_12: And I know you can't see it, everybody on the audio, but Emory is Walter's the own owner CEO of Whiskey Thieves' nephew, and kind of got to know Emery and Willem.
- 10:01SPEAKER_12: That's their dad is I'm honest, I'm pretty sure it's Matt.
- 10:06SPEAKER_12: So they both have worked, they worked on the farm, but Emery's there, and I see him pretty much every time.
- 10:15SPEAKER_12: And one of the things he did was I was able to get a bottle that he thought was the best out of all the different whiskeys.
- 10:24SPEAKER_12: So this is Emery's pick, and tonight we are gonna be barrel bottle breaking down whiskey thieves Emery's pick.
- 10:32SPEAKER_12: But one of the cool things is we're gonna also go down.
- 10:36SPEAKER_12: I mean, you got the cat and the sunrise, the sunset, and the you know, that was I pretty much had I wanna say nope, it's not coming, but Walker again.
- 10:56SPEAKER_12: Here's so what happened when we were down there is we got to do with Hannah, we got to do barrel tasting.
- 11:56SPEAKER_12: We we drilled a barrel and we thiefed a barrel, but Hannah was getting everybody ready to go out and do the pick.
- 12:05SPEAKER_12: There's Wayne and there she is.
- 12:10SPEAKER_12: That's one of the barrels.
- 12:14SPEAKER_12: Thiefing away.
- 12:18SPEAKER_12: And by this point, the sun's going down.
- 12:22SPEAKER_12: So, but that's besides the point.
- 12:24SPEAKER_12: Let's get this off right now.
- 12:27SPEAKER_12: And we're gonna stop the sharing.
- 12:31SPEAKER_12: We'll go back to me.
- 12:32SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 12:34SPEAKER_12: And then we will go back to really quick.
- 12:44SPEAKER_10: Which one is it?
- 12:45SPEAKER_10: Yeah, tonight.
- 12:46SPEAKER_10: There you go.
- 12:49SPEAKER_12: All right, so www.
- 12:53SPEAKER_12: uh yeah, www.scotchyburbonboys.com for all things scotchy bourbon boys.
- 13:02SPEAKER_12: Make sure that you check it out.
- 13:04SPEAKER_12: You can get t-shirts, you can get glens, you can get bourbon balls.
- 13:08SPEAKER_12: We're monitoring all time.
- 13:12SPEAKER_12: Is whiskey thief some of the best in the business?
- 13:16SPEAKER_12: I haven't tried them, but the place looks well loved.
- 13:19SPEAKER_12: Oh, whiskey thief, as far as uh a destination in Kentucky is 100%.
- 13:26SPEAKER_12: You you're everything is uncut, unfiltered, straight from the barrel.
- 13:30SPEAKER_12: And you get to bottle your own.
- 13:31SPEAKER_12: It's an experience unlike any other experience on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
- 13:40SPEAKER_12: And it's pretty cool, honestly.
- 13:44SPEAKER_12: The great part about it is that what would you say?
- 13:52SPEAKER_12: I think I wonder if that if I that's too much there.
- 13:58SPEAKER_12: Let's move that into out of the way a little bit.
- 14:02SPEAKER_12: We'll move it back.
- 14:03SPEAKER_12: How about right here?
- 14:05SPEAKER_12: That might work.
- 14:08SPEAKER_12: It is O'Sheen's asking this question.
- 14:11SPEAKER_12: Yes, very, very good whiskey.
- 14:13SPEAKER_12: We're gonna be barrel bottle breaking that down in a little bit.
- 14:16SPEAKER_12: And fantastic.
- 14:18SPEAKER_12: It's it's pretty cool place.
- 14:21SPEAKER_12: So that's where I kicked it off.
- 14:22SPEAKER_12: It was the kickoff event for Bourbon on the Banks on Thursday.
- 14:27SPEAKER_12: So I took a half a day off work on Thursday, a full day off on Friday.
- 14:31SPEAKER_12: Took this is one one um of festival that we actively participate.
- 14:37SPEAKER_12: We are participating in.
- 14:40SPEAKER_12: We are not like when we're at we are media at Kentucky Bourbon Festival, and we're media here, but we're also a vendor.
- 14:49SPEAKER_12: So we're not just covering, we're participating.
- 14:53SPEAKER_12: So we actually have a tent that we podcast from.
- 14:57SPEAKER_12: We set it up and we podcast straight from the festival, promoting the festival.
- 15:03SPEAKER_12: Bourbon on the Banks and Kentucky Bourbon Festival, and then the New Orleans Bourbon Festival are all spectacular, unique festivals in their own way for drinking whiskey.
- 15:14SPEAKER_12: And this one being the first week in October, uh, the the weather wasn't supposed to be that great, but it turned out to be fantastic.
- 15:24SPEAKER_12: And it's right on the banks of the Kentucky River.
- 15:29SPEAKER_12: And you know, it's funny that it would be it's a possibility what's happening in this picture with what's happening, but right now the banks have trees and whatnot.
- 15:42SPEAKER_12: So right you're on the bank, but then it's overgrown on its shores, so it's not just open so that you could see it.
- 15:50SPEAKER_12: Now you still could see the river, you're there, and it produced it was, I believe, 71 degrees with a beautiful, nice breeze coming right off the river to keep everybody cool.
- 16:02SPEAKER_12: It was sunny and the sun was was still hot, but fantastic as far as the festival goes.
- 16:09SPEAKER_12: So we got down there Thursday night.
- 16:11SPEAKER_12: We headed after the festival, we headed the half hour back into Louisville and stayed at the home to sweets across the street from the new Lou tasting room of Whiskey Thief Distilling Company.
- 16:28SPEAKER_12: And that tasting room, when we got there, I believe we left the festival ended at nine.
- 16:34SPEAKER_12: We didn't get out of there until quarter to ten.
- 16:37SPEAKER_12: And we really got on the road probably at about quarter to 10:45.
- 16:44SPEAKER_12: That's about the time we got on the road.
- 16:47SPEAKER_12: And when we got to the home two suites, we parked in Whiskey Thief's parking lot because it was right across the street, and went into Whiskey Thief and it was 11:15, and I asked them when they were closing, and they said 11.
- 17:02SPEAKER_12: Asked if they could stay open till we run our stuff up to the hotel and come back for a drink, and they said yes.
- 17:09SPEAKER_12: Well, we didn't get out of there till about 1.15.
- 17:12SPEAKER_12: That was a lot of fun.
- 17:13SPEAKER_12: And I wonder, I probably do.
- 17:16SPEAKER_12: That's probably another.
- 17:18SPEAKER_12: Let's see if I got it.
- 17:19SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna just come up with it.
- 17:21SPEAKER_12: Uh, we'll go right here.
- 17:24SPEAKER_12: I wanna say, yep.
- 17:26SPEAKER_12: All right, so once we were there, that was phenomenal.
- 17:32SPEAKER_12: I'll just quick hit share again here down here.
- 17:36SPEAKER_12: Get us up on the share screen.
- 17:39SPEAKER_10: Uh let's do that.
- 17:47SPEAKER_10: Share photos.
- 17:49SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 17:50SPEAKER_12: Share.
- 17:50SPEAKER_12: All right, we got the photos back up.
- 17:53SPEAKER_12: Here we are.
- 17:54SPEAKER_12: I would say we were leaving.
- 17:56SPEAKER_12: You can see what time we are leaving, whiskey thief.
- 18:00SPEAKER_12: I got oh here, we actually got it closing.
- 18:10SPEAKER_12: That's cool.
- 18:10SPEAKER_12: I I actually do think.
- 18:17SPEAKER_12: Alright, so we got to whiskey thief.
- 18:22SPEAKER_12: Came back down and they were there, and you can see they're mopping up.
- 18:29SPEAKER_12: And then I had a thief to old fashioned.
- 18:34SPEAKER_12: Let's see, here we go.
- 18:36SPEAKER_12: You can kind of see this with bourbon in it.
- 18:40SPEAKER_12: And they put it in there, let it be jinked and admit, and then they whoo! So there you go.
- 18:47SPEAKER_12: Everybody, she's smoking in old fashioned, she's gonna smoke it.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: He's like, I'm even there for that actually.
- 18:53SPEAKER_04: Do y'all want it smoked?
- 18:54SPEAKER_09: Yes, because smoking is the best part.
- 18:57SPEAKER_04: You're not gonna do anything.
- 18:59SPEAKER_09: Just the volume of opening the smoker.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: Don't break it.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 19:05SPEAKER_09: One night one night is back and do like two and a half cars and every single full batch pad.
- 19:14SPEAKER_12: All right, let's see if I can.
- 19:15SPEAKER_12: She's gonna go over here.
- 19:20SPEAKER_12: Alright, this is the best part right here.
- 19:22SPEAKER_12: You can kind of see.
- 19:25SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 19:26SPEAKER_09: And here we go.
- 19:33SPEAKER_04: And I only got it after about 10-15 seconds.
- 19:36SPEAKER_04: You have to get some of the flavors.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: But when you open when you open up, but I don't think they didn't really put the display of it all, too.
- 19:49SPEAKER_04: I I will say coming here so often, I'm not so much better.
- 19:55SPEAKER_10: Alright.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: I do.
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: Oh, look at this one.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: Go on.
- 20:06SPEAKER_12: Alright, there you go.
- 20:08SPEAKER_12: That was there.
- 20:10SPEAKER_12: And then I want to say.
- 20:13SPEAKER_12: Alright, there it is at closing time.
- 20:18SPEAKER_12: Closed up.
- 20:20SPEAKER_12: And then we had to be about.
- 20:24SPEAKER_12: We went back up to the room and got some cigars and came back down.
- 20:29SPEAKER_12: So there we go.
- 20:30SPEAKER_12: Let's uh stop sharing.
- 20:33SPEAKER_12: I'll get back off of that.
- 20:36SPEAKER_12: And so went to bed that night, and it was kind of cool because I don't want that.
- 20:45SPEAKER_12: I want to go back to we'll go back to that in a sec, but we'll get up to this.
- 20:52SPEAKER_12: Alright, so what happened was that we stayed up, we closed the place, but then we went back up into the hotel room.
- 21:04SPEAKER_12: And then me and Walker were just like, it's Thursday night, you know, nothing's happening.
- 21:10SPEAKER_12: We went back down, he grabbed his bottle of old Carter 17, back 17, and we both grabbed a cigar and went back down onto the patio and smoked cigars till about quarter to three, and then went to got in bed about three.
- 21:27SPEAKER_12: So this is what I'm talking about when it comes to when it comes to the bourbon on the banks.
- 21:37SPEAKER_12: The first night of the kickoff already, been at both whiskey thieves, had a three o'clock, two, two thirty cigar, or two four two fifteen cigar a.m.
- 21:49SPEAKER_12: cigar, and then back.
- 21:51SPEAKER_12: So then next morning, there's a lot of options, but we got up about eight.
- 21:57SPEAKER_12: We had to be at the old Carter Social Club at 10:45 at quarter to 11.
- 22:03SPEAKER_12: Between 10:30 and 11, and we were meeting Nash, Super Nash, and CT.
- 22:09SPEAKER_12: So Walker made a fantastic, fantastic.
- 22:17SPEAKER_12: Walker made it we closed it, Walker, at like 1.15, but we went up back up to the room and and got the cigar and the old carter and then walked back down.
- 22:29SPEAKER_12: And that had to be about it had to be about 2 o'clock when we hit hit that because I just remember coming back up to the room at 2.45 and getting and being in bed by 3.
- 22:44SPEAKER_12: So we went and he made a great suggestion.
- 22:47SPEAKER_12: We went to the Brown Hotel for breakfast and had a nice good protein-packed breakfast, omelets, and whatever.
- 22:56SPEAKER_12: And then we from from there headed over to the old Carter Social Club.
- 23:01SPEAKER_12: I will tell you, if you're ever gone to the old Carter Social Club, it was on a one-way street where Justin's House of, it's right next door to Justin's House of Bourbon.
- 23:11SPEAKER_12: And it's on a one-way street, but they changed it to a two-way street with one lane.
- 23:21SPEAKER_12: That's a it used to have four lanes.
- 23:25SPEAKER_12: And they converted one lane into a two lane and three lanes one way.
- 23:30SPEAKER_12: So I went to park, and I was all of a sudden looking at a pickup truck coming right at me.
- 23:39SPEAKER_12: And I'm like, whoa.
- 23:41SPEAKER_12: I talked to Booth about that, and he said it was just one.
- 23:44SPEAKER_12: Day it was they added a new.
- 23:46SPEAKER_12: I mean, I don't see how how you can even handle how that gets handled.
- 23:51SPEAKER_12: Do you know what I mean?
- 23:54SPEAKER_12: So that takes us to we get to the old Carter Social Club.
- 24:02SPEAKER_12: Now at the Old Carter Social Club, Booth, Brian Booth is the representative.
- 24:07SPEAKER_12: Christy and Mark, Christy Atkinson and Mark Carter, we know well, but they were very busy.
- 24:13SPEAKER_12: And we met Lock.
- 24:15SPEAKER_12: I wanted his, I believe it's Lockie.
- 24:18SPEAKER_12: And he's Australian.
- 24:20SPEAKER_12: And the two of them were able to me and Walker got there, and then Nash and CT showed up because Nash flew in and then picked CT up at a desk at designated pickup point, and then they drove there.
- 24:38SPEAKER_12: So gets us back to another share.
- 24:44SPEAKER_12: If anybody's this this these are probably the best pictures that I took.
- 24:51SPEAKER_12: Share it away.
- 24:52SPEAKER_12: Let's do the photos.
- 24:54SPEAKER_12: Share.
- 24:56SPEAKER_12: Alright, so we're back here.
- 24:59SPEAKER_12: And I will go to.
- 25:01SPEAKER_12: Oh, car is easy to find.
- 25:03SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 25:04SPEAKER_12: So the first thing is is when you're at the the club, you're sitting.
- 25:13SPEAKER_12: I mean, this is the that's that's Lockie right there.
- 25:18SPEAKER_12: And that's a pretty good share.
- 25:21SPEAKER_12: Alright, let me see.
- 25:23SPEAKER_12: And then I took some cool pictures of you just in a beautifully lit room.
- 25:42SPEAKER_12: Those all turned out.
- 25:43SPEAKER_12: But they're C T and Nash.
- 25:46SPEAKER_12: It's really kind of cool.
- 25:50SPEAKER_12: Maybe lucky.
- 25:52SPEAKER_12: We'll go with locking, but it was so easy.
- 25:55SPEAKER_12: It was lucky, but his last name was that had the lock part of it in there, so there you go.
- 26:04SPEAKER_12: Alright, and there's there it is.
- 26:13SPEAKER_12: I don't know why that why I'm taking pictures of that.
- 26:16SPEAKER_12: I was gonna send that's awesome.
- 26:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah, let's get off of that.
- 26:22SPEAKER_12: So we're at the social club.
- 26:24SPEAKER_12: Here's another shot.
- 26:28SPEAKER_12: You get just get the you get with your membership, you can bring five of your five guests, five of the people.
- 26:36SPEAKER_12: We joined the Scotchy Bourbon Boys, so it's like our guests are ourselves, but you get to try different batches or different expressions of old Carter.
- 26:51SPEAKER_12: A lot of times you get to try what you're buying or going to buy, so that's really kind of cool.
- 26:56SPEAKER_12: And it's not short little pores or anything like that, it is nice cool thing.
- 27:04SPEAKER_12: Let's see, there's there's booth.
- 27:07SPEAKER_12: That's when I was telling him that he was I was recording them, he could see.
- 27:12SPEAKER_12: But you kind of sit around and then talk about the industry, talk with your friends.
- 27:19SPEAKER_12: It's just a place to relax.
- 27:21SPEAKER_12: So, and then we ended up going upstairs and getting the bottles that we had purchased throughout the year because you have a locker there, and that that allows you to.
- 27:35SPEAKER_12: So I'm back again.
- 27:37SPEAKER_10: Let's put this back into position.
- 27:41SPEAKER_10: Let's go back down and we're still in review.
- 27:47SPEAKER_12: So, yeah, we went to old Carter, and so then the next thing was we finished up there, and I'm we're all going, well, let's go to old Louisville, because we had to pick up a sample of the barrel pick that we did through there that we that that you get through their gift shop, you however many bottles that they want to to that you ask for.
- 28:22SPEAKER_12: So we did that barrel pick, and we went to pick up those samples, and on the way, and we're back into the fun part here.
- 28:32SPEAKER_12: I'm getting good, I'm gonna be good at this, but we're driving, and the first place I I call CT and Nash, they're in the car, I'm in my truck, and the first place that they say they're gonna go to is they say they're going to Micter's.
- 28:51SPEAKER_12: Now, they say they're going to Mickter's, and I'm like, okay, but I thought we were going to old Louisville.
- 28:59SPEAKER_12: Well, all of a sudden we're driving towards Micter's and CTs like a ball that uh a dog that just saw a ball.
- 29:11SPEAKER_12: I mean, this is only the second day, Friday, already, and we basically end up the Evan Williams experience.
- 29:25SPEAKER_12: We go upstairs to the bar.
- 29:27SPEAKER_12: C T notoriously has that's a great picture.
- 29:33SPEAKER_12: There we are with Nash.
- 29:37SPEAKER_12: And then with CT.
- 29:45SPEAKER_12: There it is.
- 29:46SPEAKER_12: And then Mary, that's her name, was the was the bartender there.
- 29:53SPEAKER_12: And she here what are you gonna make him?
- 29:57SPEAKER_12: It's strawberry, basil, tequila, margarita.
- 30:06SPEAKER_09: That's just right there.
- 30:28SPEAKER_12: That's like a man's point.
- 30:33SPEAKER_12: No, not an abour and experience.
- 30:35SPEAKER_09: No, it's that doesn't say a tequila experience instead of bourbon experience.
- 30:47SPEAKER_12: All right.
- 30:49SPEAKER_12: She stuck up for him, that's for sure, on that one.
- 30:52SPEAKER_12: And then, so, but you could see, look at that.
- 30:56SPEAKER_12: That that coffee drink.
- 30:58SPEAKER_12: And I've I really especial drinks for me really that took a turn for the better.
- 31:06SPEAKER_12: That's a pretty cool one.
- 31:08SPEAKER_12: Oh and then there, uh, there me and Walker were there.
- 31:14SPEAKER_12: Shannon Thanks.
- 31:18SPEAKER_12: See, Walker's here for that.
- 31:23SPEAKER_12: There we are.
- 31:28SPEAKER_12: I think there's one more picture.
- 31:31SPEAKER_12: There it is.
- 31:31SPEAKER_12: We were in front of the Alright.
- 31:38SPEAKER_12: So well, I just I won't skip.
- 31:41SPEAKER_12: I let's just keep sharing.
- 31:43SPEAKER_12: We went to so we ended up at Old Louisville and here we are.
- 31:50SPEAKER_12: That's a pretty good picture at Old Louisville in their barrel barrel room.
- 32:00SPEAKER_12: And I think this is us tasting.
- 32:05SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 32:07SPEAKER_12: It's not giving me the should.
- 32:11SPEAKER_12: It's not.
- 32:12SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 32:16SPEAKER_12: There's a really good let's see, that might be it.
- 32:24SPEAKER_12: It's uh yeah, it's a video.
- 32:25SPEAKER_12: We can if I can get this video to play.
- 32:29SPEAKER_12: I don't know why all of a sudden it doesn't want to play.
- 32:38SPEAKER_12: Oh, we're not even gonna go.
- 32:40SPEAKER_12: Alright, so we go to all Louisville, spend time there, get into a bunch of barrels there.
- 32:47SPEAKER_12: CT.
- 32:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 32:51SPEAKER_12: I wanna say, Yep, this barrel right here is the barrel.
- 32:56SPEAKER_12: And it is a short barrel, folks.
- 32:59SPEAKER_12: There's not a lot in there.
- 33:01SPEAKER_12: Alright, so let's stop.
- 33:03SPEAKER_12: Let's see, where are we?
- 33:05SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 33:06SPEAKER_12: Oh, this was a good one.
- 33:09SPEAKER_12: That shows you I picked up the bourbon on the banks at O Little Flyer for Old Louisville that was advertising.
- 33:16SPEAKER_12: So we're not even to the festival.
- 33:21SPEAKER_12: We're not even to the to the Friday night yet.
- 33:25SPEAKER_12: So we finished up there, and then we it's raining at this point on Friday.
- 33:34SPEAKER_12: It was it was an intermittent rainy day.
- 33:38SPEAKER_12: But the cool part about it was I can I probably can leave that up, wouldn't you say?
- 33:48SPEAKER_12: Nah, I want to go back to Do we got one?
- 33:53SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 33:55SPEAKER_12: So there's a couple things that have to happen.
- 33:58SPEAKER_12: We went to there in Old Louisville, and now we gotta go back to Frankfurt because we have to have the tent, our tent, chairs, tables, and banners and all decorations and everything set up, and we got till six o'clock.
- 34:22SPEAKER_12: And it's about at this point three thirty.
- 34:28SPEAKER_12: So we drip take the 55-minute drive to Frankfurt.
- 34:34SPEAKER_12: C T should be getting, hmm, he should be getting picking up his car or his truck, but they decide they're gonna go eat chicken.
- 34:49SPEAKER_12: And I just get some gas and head over and drop everything off.
- 34:54SPEAKER_12: They then show up at the end, help me help we get the tent kind of staked down a little bit and set up so that we just have to go a little bit bigger, and everything dropped off, and then we go and we check into our Airbnb, which was phenomenal.
- 35:12SPEAKER_12: We had a phenomenal Airbnb right across the river, and at this point, we're gonna stay there.
- 35:19SPEAKER_12: We we had two nights stay Friday and Saturday night, so it's Friday night, and Friday night was the VIP auction and dinner that they throw the Friday night before Bourbon on the banks.
- 35:36SPEAKER_12: It raises money for charity, they get tons of auction off pieces.
- 35:41SPEAKER_12: This year, Larkin, Greg Keeley sponsored it.
- 35:46SPEAKER_12: So us having a good relationship, where we were able to work it out to be media and be part of that dinner, and it was fantastic.
- 35:58SPEAKER_12: Everything, I do believe.
- 36:00SPEAKER_12: Let's see, I might on the dinner.
- 36:03SPEAKER_12: I think I've got something on the dinner.
- 36:07SPEAKER_12: I should have something on the dinner.
- 36:11SPEAKER_12: That's after the dinner.
- 36:14SPEAKER_12: At the dinner, bourbon on the banks.
- 36:20SPEAKER_12: There we are, walking to the dinner.
- 36:23SPEAKER_12: I want to say I got something.
- 36:25SPEAKER_12: I do.
- 36:26SPEAKER_12: So let's do the share.
- 36:29SPEAKER_12: I will share.
- 36:31SPEAKER_12: This is fun to share.
- 36:33SPEAKER_12: Isn't it fun to share, folks?
- 36:35SPEAKER_12: Here we go.
- 36:38SPEAKER_12: So far, so good, right?
- 36:40SPEAKER_12: Share.
- 36:41SPEAKER_12: And we should be right here.
- 36:46SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 36:48SPEAKER_12: Now let's see if I can get that to play.
- 36:53SPEAKER_12: I don't know what I did.
- 36:55SPEAKER_12: I was doing something to get it to play before.
- 37:11SPEAKER_10: Come on.
- 37:13SPEAKER_10: Can we get at least get it to play?
- 37:17SPEAKER_12: They look like they're trying to upload.
- 37:23SPEAKER_10: How about this one?
- 37:29SPEAKER_12: I was not even trying to upload.
- 37:31SPEAKER_12: That's probably five minutes.
- 37:33SPEAKER_12: Let's see.
- 37:35SPEAKER_12: Well, this is a good one.
- 37:36SPEAKER_12: There, there's the big kangaroo.
- 37:42SPEAKER_12: We got a shorter one here.
- 37:45SPEAKER_12: Well, that's the just the dinner.
- 37:52SPEAKER_12: This one's close.
- 37:54SPEAKER_12: I'm hoping.
- 37:57SPEAKER_12: This one isn't close at all.
- 38:00SPEAKER_10: Alright, let's see if it went to a little play.
- 38:09SPEAKER_10: Wow.
- 38:14SPEAKER_12: You just gotta stay on it.
- 38:16SPEAKER_12: I'll stay on it.
- 38:18SPEAKER_12: Alright, so the dinner was and the auction was it basically auctions off high-end bottles.
- 38:24SPEAKER_12: Everybody's there.
- 38:25SPEAKER_12: It was fantastic.
- 38:27SPEAKER_12: It was a lot of good time.
- 38:28SPEAKER_12: And they also the distilleries were represented, and because it was raining, it was inside the convention center this year.
- 38:39SPEAKER_12: Last year, okay, so this is up.
- 38:41SPEAKER_12: Let's see if I can get some.
- 38:43SPEAKER_12: That's really cool.
- 38:48SPEAKER_12: Sat the convention center.
- 39:51SPEAKER_12: So you can see everybody's set up so different distilleries and different things.
- 40:00SPEAKER_12: That's Christian.
- 40:07SPEAKER_12: Buffalo Traces over there.
- 40:14SPEAKER_12: They were tasting some some pretty good stuff.
- 40:21SPEAKER_12: They had four green and cured oak.
- 40:27SPEAKER_09: No, good looking.
- 40:28SPEAKER_09: Thank you.
- 40:30SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, I'll I'll have I'll have the yeah, that's one of my favorites of all time.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 40:39SPEAKER_12: That was Master Blend.
- 40:42SPEAKER_12: So, anyways, that gives you a feel.
- 40:45SPEAKER_12: At least I had that.
- 40:47SPEAKER_12: And I wonder if I uh I should just probably I don't ooh, Hannah came up.
- 40:54SPEAKER_12: Alright, here we go.
- 40:55SPEAKER_12: Hold on, there we go.
- 40:56SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna no one it's just attacking.
- 41:00SPEAKER_12: I recognize that from from Ohio.
- 41:05SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: All right, what is no six-burden 118 button?
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: 72% 20% five.
- 41:22SPEAKER_09: I think that's the fourteenth times in the last two.
- 41:28SPEAKER_03: That's it.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: I like this.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: I like this.
- 41:31SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, we just gotta keep this up.
- 41:33SPEAKER_09: The pinks.
- 41:36SPEAKER_12: Yep, exactly.
- 41:38SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 41:39SPEAKER_12: How are you doing?
- 41:41SPEAKER_12: So there you go.
- 41:42SPEAKER_12: That was the whiskey doc, too.
- 41:44SPEAKER_12: That he was there.
- 41:45SPEAKER_12: Everything was good.
- 41:47SPEAKER_12: You had vouchers.
- 41:49SPEAKER_12: We did have vouchers for the cash bar.
- 41:51SPEAKER_12: I had one that I never used.
- 41:53SPEAKER_12: All right, so let's stop the sharing.
- 41:56SPEAKER_12: I know how to do that.
- 41:58SPEAKER_12: Stop share.
- 41:59SPEAKER_12: Get back up here.
- 42:01SPEAKER_12: Double click.
- 42:03SPEAKER_12: Go back down.
- 42:04SPEAKER_12: Get the screen up.
- 42:05SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 42:06SPEAKER_12: So that auction was cool.
- 42:10SPEAKER_12: Now, afterwards, it's it's it's just the night was nuts.
- 42:17SPEAKER_12: And afterwards, we went to the Frankfurt Bourbon Society.
- 42:23SPEAKER_12: Afterwards, and Amsey was there, the bourbon road was there.
- 42:30SPEAKER_12: There was a lot of people, but there was Jacob there too.
- 42:33SPEAKER_12: And Jacob the night before at Whiskey Thief had invited us to come to his come to his basement at his house because he has a really cool bourbon bar.
- 42:44SPEAKER_12: And a lot of people in I want to say a lot of people in Frankfurt have they go there.
- 42:52SPEAKER_12: And so I've never I've been invited many times, but never gone.
- 42:58SPEAKER_12: So when we get there to the Frankfurt Bourbon Society, and Jacob's there, so we hang out till Jacob is ready to go.
- 43:07SPEAKER_12: And at this point we lose CT.
- 43:11SPEAKER_12: He's CT sometimes just runs off and does his own thing.
- 43:15SPEAKER_12: And so we go, we haven't even hit the bourbon on the banks yet.
- 43:20SPEAKER_12: Where so we end up at with Amsey, Walker, the whiskey dock, and Super Nash, myself.
- 43:30SPEAKER_12: We all end up in the basement of Jacob's whiskey bar, which was fantastic.
- 43:36SPEAKER_12: So I can finally say, after four or five years of being invited into the whiskey bar, we finally did it.
- 43:44SPEAKER_12: So again, we finish up there, we head over to the House of Commons.
- 43:51SPEAKER_12: Now the House of Commons is David Sandlin's bar.
- 43:56SPEAKER_12: We've talked about this many times.
- 43:58SPEAKER_12: The House of Commons is one of the best bars I've ever been associated with.
- 44:02SPEAKER_12: It has Dusty's, it has new pores, and their cocktails are phenomenal.
- 44:10SPEAKER_12: And we'll do the share for this because this was our first night there, and you're gonna get to see the kind of shares that that and pores that are there.
- 44:23SPEAKER_12: And that's one of the cool things when I hit the share.
- 44:27SPEAKER_12: This is we're still Friday night, folks, and hit share.
- 44:34SPEAKER_12: Alright, so yeah.
- 44:44SPEAKER_12: Okay, so you can get a I believe there's a couple good pictures.
- 44:49SPEAKER_12: That's a pretty good picture of the basement of the whiskey bar.
- 44:56SPEAKER_12: And then this is yeah, these are some nice shots of how cool his bar was and how the furniture and everything.
- 45:07SPEAKER_12: It really was a fun night.
- 45:09SPEAKER_12: So that's funny.
- 45:13SPEAKER_12: We were texting CT how he missed it all, and then we there's a really good one.
- 45:17SPEAKER_12: We told him he had old crow chess pieces, and then I put his head on top of what it was.
- 45:24SPEAKER_12: But there, that's all of us together, and we had a great time.
- 45:30SPEAKER_12: Good pictures.
- 45:31SPEAKER_12: So this is what I'm this is what I'm talking about, though.
- 45:36SPEAKER_12: Here we are at House of Commons, and I I've never sat on the corner, but this is an Actual Eagle Rare, and this is a 1984 Eagle Rare by Stitzel Weller in an Eagle Rare a decanter.
- 45:56SPEAKER_12: And they they used to do all these decanters during when the whiskey boom wasn't, you know, going full out.
- 46:07SPEAKER_12: But it's pretty cool.
- 46:11SPEAKER_12: No, I think, yeah, look at that.
- 46:15SPEAKER_12: That's just the that it's nuts, but how do you pour something like that?
- 46:20SPEAKER_12: And there's an actual eagle, double eagle rare that they opened up for the night.
- 46:25SPEAKER_12: So you had double eagle rare, eagle rare, and eagle rare.
- 46:28SPEAKER_12: It was an eagle rare night.
- 46:30SPEAKER_12: This one is it.
- 46:31SPEAKER_12: Yep, here it is.
- 46:32SPEAKER_12: Watch, watch David.
- 46:33SPEAKER_12: Now, David is fantastic.
- 46:35SPEAKER_12: He's been a part of the Scotchy Bourbon Boys, been on two bus tours.
- 46:41SPEAKER_12: Him and and I we got to I got to finally meet his wife, and this bar is just amazing.
- 47:10SPEAKER_12: So there you go.
- 47:11SPEAKER_12: That's the kind of stuff that you get happening.
- 47:15SPEAKER_12: And then we also have, I think that's is that a that is the one I wanted to do too.
- 47:23SPEAKER_12: Let's see if I can get that up.
- 47:25SPEAKER_12: Sometimes it just takes a little bit longer.
- 47:28SPEAKER_12: This is only 15 seconds, so I'm thinking it should come up pretty quick.
- 47:31SPEAKER_12: There it is.
- 47:33SPEAKER_04: You ever drink beaver's breath?
- 47:35SPEAKER_04: No.
- 47:41SPEAKER_12: What the shit?
- 47:43SPEAKER_12: That is crazy.
- 47:47SPEAKER_12: So that bottle, so that bottle was beaver's breath, but when you held it up, you could see they had printed over the Stitzel Weller label.
- 47:57SPEAKER_12: So they must have had Stitzel Weller labels.
- 48:00SPEAKER_12: I think it's in 1954.
- 48:02SPEAKER_12: They must have had Stitzel Weller labels and they just printed over the top.
- 48:07SPEAKER_12: So there you go.
- 48:09SPEAKER_12: We finished up there.
- 48:12SPEAKER_12: And then at House of Commons, and I'll stop sharing.
- 48:22SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 48:23SPEAKER_12: As we keep going, it was from old, yeah, the old apprentice distilleries, aka, but it was Stitzelweller from the old Prentice Apprentice Distillery.
- 48:38SPEAKER_12: It was, you know, a night.
- 48:40SPEAKER_12: So we go back after this.
- 48:42SPEAKER_12: Actually, Super Nash and I tried to go to Waffle House.
- 48:45SPEAKER_12: They only had carry out, ended up losing$100, or thought I lost a hundred dollars cash that fell out of my pocket, couldn't find it, and then went back home, sat in the back, had cigars and pours till three o'clock in the morning.
- 49:03SPEAKER_12: Went to bed at three o'clock in the morning, got back up at eight.
- 49:07SPEAKER_12: Now, today, by now, we know we have to be over at the festival by 11.
- 49:15SPEAKER_12: So we went to the cliffside diner for dinner.
- 49:18SPEAKER_12: Everybody did.
- 49:19SPEAKER_12: We got out by nine, and we're done by about 10.
- 49:24SPEAKER_12: Headed over, set up the tent, and participated in Bourbon on the Banks.
- 49:31SPEAKER_12: Now, bourbon on the Banks, this festival, and I don't have a lot of pictures, but we're gonna, this is what we're here for, right, everybody?
- 49:41SPEAKER_12: Bourbon on the Banks.
- 49:42SPEAKER_12: I mean, this is what what I've done, we've done so much already, and we haven't even hit the festival.
- 49:49SPEAKER_12: And the festival, we we all know we're going to be, and you know, we're at the festival.
- 49:58SPEAKER_12: So let's, since we're gonna do this, talk a little bit about Whiskey Thief distilling our sponsor.
- 50:08SPEAKER_12: Move this over here.
- 50:10SPEAKER_12: This bottle here.
- 50:12SPEAKER_12: The way what happens at Whiskey Thief for anybody?
- 50:15SPEAKER_12: I mean, if you watch the podcast, how do you not know?
- 50:18SPEAKER_12: It's a barrel pick all day, every day, two locations.
- 50:21SPEAKER_12: One, their main distillery on the Three Boys Farm in Frankfurt, Kentucky.
- 50:25SPEAKER_12: Right off, I mean, right off the exit.
- 50:28SPEAKER_12: What you go one way for Buffalo Trace and the other way for Whiskey Thief.
- 50:32SPEAKER_12: This particular bottle, them being our our sponsor, and so we love every aspect of it.
- 50:42SPEAKER_12: So when I was at when I was at the kickoff, I asked Emery to fill me a bottle, and he's like, Well, which one?
- 50:53SPEAKER_12: I said, Can you just get me one?
- 50:54SPEAKER_12: And he's like, Yeah.
- 50:56SPEAKER_12: So he got me one, but it was his pick, which he liked the best.
- 50:59SPEAKER_12: I said, There's five, you've been you taste, what did you like the best?
- 51:05SPEAKER_12: So well, that smells delicious.
- 51:13SPEAKER_12: Let's do a pour.
- 51:18SPEAKER_12: I'm up for that.
- 51:20SPEAKER_12: Let's see what have I got here.
- 51:23SPEAKER_12: Oh, I got my black diamond rocks glass.
- 51:27SPEAKER_12: So tonight, well, I should probably just go grab a oh, I can go grab a glen.
- 51:35SPEAKER_12: Let's grab a glen from over here.
- 51:39SPEAKER_12: There's the Scotchy Bourbon Boys Glen right there.
- 51:46SPEAKER_12: All right, that should work.
- 51:53SPEAKER_12: It's clean.
- 51:55SPEAKER_12: All right, let's pour that baby and let it.
- 51:59SPEAKER_12: So tonight we're gonna.
- 52:02SPEAKER_12: We don't often barrel bash whiskey thief.
- 52:06SPEAKER_12: Our barrel bottle breakdown.
- 52:18SPEAKER_12: Our interview.
- 52:20SPEAKER_12: We did it.
- 52:21SPEAKER_12: Well, I don't think we actually had an interview with them.
- 52:24SPEAKER_12: We talked with them at Whiskey Thief, there's no doubt about it, with Ingram, the Ingram folks.
- 52:31SPEAKER_12: We're gonna probably set up podcasts.
- 52:34SPEAKER_12: I would say it was more like cigar smoking.
- 52:38SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that was one time offered up a boat.
- 52:41SPEAKER_12: You know, it was fun.
- 52:43SPEAKER_12: We had a lot of fun.
- 52:44SPEAKER_12: With I believe his name was Scott.
- 52:47SPEAKER_12: Yes, and Aria.
- 52:49SPEAKER_12: That's a good one.
- 52:50SPEAKER_12: Because we did get to hang out with them before and close the place.
- 52:54SPEAKER_12: So while we were hanging out with Scott and Aria at Whiskey Thief, that's when Emery was over by us with his dad, and I asked him to do that, and that they said it was okay.
- 53:10SPEAKER_12: So this is my current bottle.
- 53:12SPEAKER_12: Now, I definitely am gonna need this.
- 53:18SPEAKER_10: And let's hit it with this.
- 53:23SPEAKER_12: This one is 117.8 proof.
- 53:27SPEAKER_12: It is it was Thieve 10126.
- 53:31SPEAKER_12: That was when we were there, October 1st, and it's aged seven years: 75 corn, 15 rye, 10 barley, and it was barrel number two on the floor that day.
- 53:45SPEAKER_12: So the date in the barrel they can tell you and know everything about it because every day they document it.
- 53:52SPEAKER_12: So tonight we're gonna barrel bottle breakdown this bottle.
- 54:00SPEAKER_12: Let's get this situated.
- 54:03SPEAKER_12: Ah, all right.
- 54:05SPEAKER_12: This bottle, seven year.
- 54:10SPEAKER_12: I just love whiskey thief.
- 54:14SPEAKER_12: All right, so let's just see how it holds up against the barrel bottle breakdown scale of the Scotchy Bourbon Boys.
- 54:25SPEAKER_12: The scale consists of four different categories.
- 54:28SPEAKER_12: It consists of the nose, the body, the taste, and the finish.
- 54:32SPEAKER_12: The nose and the body can get up to four knocks on the barrel behind me, and the taste and the finish can get up to five knocks on the barrel behind me.
- 54:47SPEAKER_12: But if one of the categories is exceptional and only one can get an extra butt up up, and you can get a score of perfect score of 19 out of 18.
- 55:06SPEAKER_12: So let's see what happens with this delicious poor.
- 55:11SPEAKER_12: Oh, really?
- 55:17SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 55:19SPEAKER_12: Oh, so good.
- 55:22SPEAKER_12: So a lot of times when you're drinking it out of the barrel while you're there at Whiskey Thief.
- 55:31SPEAKER_12: Alright, stop.
- 55:32SPEAKER_12: That was crazy.
- 55:34SPEAKER_12: I'm just having a problem tonight.
- 55:37SPEAKER_12: And I had my other rag.
- 55:39SPEAKER_12: It should be right.
- 55:40SPEAKER_12: Oh, did I just shove it in there?
- 55:44SPEAKER_12: I probably did.
- 55:45SPEAKER_12: Now it's gonna have whiskey on it.
- 55:48SPEAKER_12: Ah, there we go.
- 55:51SPEAKER_12: Bar rag.
- 55:53SPEAKER_12: Anyways, all right.
- 55:55SPEAKER_12: So let's try that again now that I've emptied part of it.
- 56:00SPEAKER_12: And come on, go, go, go.
- 56:02SPEAKER_12: Go, go, gadget.
- 56:05SPEAKER_12: Alright, so spinning in the glass.
- 56:08SPEAKER_12: Let's look at those legs.
- 56:11SPEAKER_12: No, this was not.
- 56:15SPEAKER_12: I've never actually looked at the legs of a whiskey thief.
- 56:18SPEAKER_12: Like I said, we've not barrel bottle broke down because the way whiskey, I the way I drink it all the time is I'm I just drink it.
- 56:27SPEAKER_12: I don't analyze it.
- 56:29SPEAKER_12: It's just delicious.
- 56:34SPEAKER_12: So there's a classic baked apple cinnamon flavor.
- 56:46SPEAKER_12: A caramel, a baked caramel apple cinnamon flavor on it.
- 56:51SPEAKER_12: That's the way I can describe this nose.
- 56:55SPEAKER_12: It's 117 proof.
- 56:58SPEAKER_12: It's bringing the ethanol.
- 57:02SPEAKER_12: But you could taste that.
- 57:03SPEAKER_12: You could smell that cinnamon and the caramel and the apple.
- 57:08SPEAKER_12: It's like a red apple, like one of those really fresh red apples.
- 57:15SPEAKER_12: So, I mean, if you love that flavor, what more do you want?
- 57:20SPEAKER_12: So I would say the nose delivers and there's nothing off-putting or whatever, and it's kind of everything you want.
- 57:29SPEAKER_12: So I'm gonna give it a four on the nose.
- 57:58SPEAKER_10: Try that again.
- 58:08SPEAKER_12: Barrel straight, uncut, unfiltered.
- 58:12SPEAKER_12: I mean, what's really cool is if you look at the bottom of this bottle, I don't know if you guys can see it.
- 58:18SPEAKER_10: I'm gonna try and show it to you.
- 58:28SPEAKER_10: There's char in air.
- 58:31SPEAKER_10: I don't let's see.
- 58:43SPEAKER_10: Can you see it on the bottom?
- 58:47SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 58:49SPEAKER_12: I can see it.
- 58:57SPEAKER_11: Let's see if you can.
- 58:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 59:00SPEAKER_12: Look at that.
- 59:01SPEAKER_12: Look at that jar right there on the bottom.
- 59:05SPEAKER_12: There's a barrel jar in there and still doing its charcoal filtering.
- 59:21SPEAKER_12: I will say that at one seventeen, I've had one twenties.
- 59:32SPEAKER_12: It's right on the edge of a four for body, but it's on the edge.
- 59:38SPEAKER_12: And I guess to give it a four, you gotta get there.
- 59:42SPEAKER_12: So I'm gonna give it a three on the body.
- 59:47SPEAKER_12: On this one, it's all about the taste.
- 59:54SPEAKER_12: And this is it's it's real easy.
- 59:59SPEAKER_12: It doesn't drink one seventeen point six.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_12: It drinks like a ninety-five.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_12: So freaking good.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_12: It's like I've had so much of whiskey thief at the farm or at the tasting room.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_12: It's a place that I go, I I could kind of be every single time I I'm there, I'm at one of the other places.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_12: I don't skip it.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_12: I got to know a lot of the people that are working there.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_12: You know, Hannah, Amy, who is Hannah's in charge of the barrel program.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_12: Hannah is the manager of the tasting room.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_12: And then also there's Jessie.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_12: She works as a bartender.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_12: There's Kendall as a bartender.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_12: Just as we keep going, I want to say, okay, Walker, the skinnier girl that we met, or is it Lucy?
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_12: I want to say.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_12: You could put it out there.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_12: All right.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_12: Anyways, when it comes to taste, I could give this this is a five.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_12: Just that it's a five.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_12: It just is.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_12: Are you there, Kirk?
- 1:01:47unknown: One, two, three, four, five.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_12: And this is the we I picked this bottle up at the beginning of bourbon on the banks.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_12: And it's a fantastic bottle.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_12: Roxy got a b a 375 that she liked, and it was her she called it her bathtub bourbon.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_12: She would sip on it one way or another.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_12: Now, finish a seven-year.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_11: The sweetness.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_12: It's just an apple.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_12: Apple.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_12: Jar, a little bit of jar.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_12: Apple.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_12: Apple.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_12: Apple.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_12: Like a jolly ranch or apple finish.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_12: I mean, does Lily thank you.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_12: See, Walker does so many different things for us, and that's why we love you, Walker.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_12: Her name was Lily.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_12: I I don't know how I came up with what I came up with, but I it's just how my brain works.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_12: But getting to know now, remembering men, that's a different story.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_12: I know Walter, Lisa Roper Wicker, but the manager got the man who manages it, I recognize him.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_12: I shh I hung out with him.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_12: I should I want to say it's Sean, but I'm probably wrong.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_12: He was with us, Walker, at he was with all the girls from Whiskey Thief at on that Friday night after the event at House of Commons.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_12: Lily was there.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_12: I want to say Jesse was there.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_12: Yes, but it was Lily who does media.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_12: So we're gonna go for the finish.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_12: And I don't think there's I mean.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_12: Let's say we're gonna go with five on the finish, too.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_12: This bottle pulls a 17.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_12: This is Emery's bottle.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_12: And just so you know, anybody who comes to the Scotchy Bourbon Boy Studio, I will share Emery's bottle with you because it just pulled off a 17 of 18.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_12: Yes, Kelly does distilling with Lisa too.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_12: That's Kelly.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_12: Kelly has been on Moonshiners.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_12: Her name is Kelly Teneal.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_12: And then there's also Benjamin Eves or Ben Eves.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_12: He distills and Lisa Roper Wicker distills.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_12: Yes, I have the main people.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_12: Hannah, Lisa, Walter.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_12: That's all fine.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_12: It's just that it works out really well.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_12: Fantastic.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_12: So, all right.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_12: What I wanted to say, so that's it.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_12: 17 out of 18 on Emery's pick.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_12: So that gets us back to Bourbon on the Banks.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_12: We're almost finished up.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_12: So when we went to Bourbon on the Banks, let's hit share.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_12: We'll hit the photos again.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_12: Share.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_12: We're back up.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_12: So Bourbon on the Banks is right by the here.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_12: I'll give you a good.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_12: There's a nice picture.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_12: That should do it.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_12: Let's see.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_12: So I was just walking around.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_12: There's there's a, you know, we're right on the river.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_12: Here we come up to Potter Jane.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_12: I was recording with my meta glasses.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_12: How's it going?
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_12: I'm okay.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_04: Yes, I do.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_01: You're getting there, aren't you?
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_01: I'm good, how are you?
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: It's better than it's better than one.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_09: Don't see it too much.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_12: Why would I expect anything not good?
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_12: So yeah, fantastic.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_12: Love the love the label.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_12: I was there.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_12: You got to, you know, you get to see the different.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_12: Let's see if I'll pull off of that.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_12: I pretty much.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_12: Okay, so let's start walking right here.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_12: Hit play.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_12: Got Glens Creek who had the fire.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_12: So yeah, Glens Creek with that with that fire.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_12: But then you've got, you know, it's just you're right by the river.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_12: The bridges that that are there are the roads that go over the park.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_12: That was a bad one.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_12: All right, here we are with Stephen Fontaine.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_12: That one's loaded.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_12: It's pretty cool.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_01: We're gonna eliminate 50 of these barrels.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_01: Oh so we got down the chat.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_01: We started with 27 barrels.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_01: Then we couldn't get to the door to get the pizza.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_01: 27 is too much because the pizza sat out there all night long.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_12: What a great so that's you were talking.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_12: All right, so that was I just love that part.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_12: The pizza just sat out there all night.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_12: That's Stephen Fontaine.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_12: We podcasted.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_12: I wanna, you know, and the funny thing about with Steven on that.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_12: All right, let's see if I can go back to some of them.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_12: I want to go back to a picture.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_12: I did do a selfie.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_12: That's crazy.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_12: It's not here.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_12: There's a beer bringer.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_12: Would it have a loaded down further?
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_12: I don't know why it's not of our booth.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_12: But that's not coming out.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_12: Alright, one more time.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_12: Again, there's whiskey thief distilling.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_12: I had Oh, I had someone thieved that.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_12: But okay.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_12: So this might work.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_12: There is our our booth.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_12: So we've got the banners that we put up.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_12: And then we've got our banner for the back, which is the back bar.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_12: And then our tent, which then we have, you know, we can podcast from here.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_12: We've got our seats.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_12: We do put out our t-shirts and our Glencarens.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_12: And let's see if this works.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_12: We're next to Steelhouse.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_12: So it's tough.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_12: There you go.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_12: That was Lorenzo, who's the whiskey man from Steelhouse.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_12: And we have Cold Pick.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_12: And so this is this the festival is really kind of cool.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_12: And this should this was loaded, so this should come up.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_12: Come on, there we go.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_12: I was just walking around the festival.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_12: Let's see what happens now.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_12: Nothing's gonna happen.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_12: Alright, so we'll pull that down.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_12: And there you go.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_12: So we're at the festival.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_12: Stop sharing.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_12: There, that'll that'll help.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_12: And so we'll come over here.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_12: Come down here.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_12: And up to this.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_12: So the festival was phenomenal.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_12: I got to talk to a lot of people.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_12: Normally I'm walking around.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_12: Roxy would run, but because Roxy wasn't able to make it because she was working, she made Kentucky Bourbon Festival this year, and then Bourbon on the Bank, she her business is just taking off.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_12: So being there, I was I manned the booth and got to Super Nash allowed me to walk around.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_12: I thank you for that, Super Nash.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_12: And that was awesome.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_12: And let's see what he says.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_12: Perfectly sad, Mike.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_12: When the distillers are there, they usually come out on the town and have pores in the bar.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you're right, Walker.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_12: People do come out in town.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_12: I mean, Brent Elliott, the last couple years, we didn't see them this year.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_12: But it's just overall just a great festival.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_12: But this is more, it was about the Scotchy Bourbon boys more than it was about attending.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_12: Now, Walker, you, Super Nash, and CT were able to go to other places, and we basically have touched space between Kentucky Bourbon Festival and Bourbon on the Banks for a good amount of podcasts that we will be able to bring to you.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_12: But to be able to connect with our followers and our fans and sell t-shirts and people buy Glen Karen's like this, which you can get, contact me and I'll get you one, is kind of a really cool thing.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_12: And so the festival, I think, was a huge success, was done well, great weather.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_12: And afterwards, the after party, we ended up going to a Mexican restaurant for dinner right afterwards.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_12: I they have food trucks for food, but overall, because I did very little drinking at this festival because I was working, uh we went out, had a really nice meal, and then headed back over to the House of Commons.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_12: There, I do want to share one more some of the pores we had at House of Commons that night.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_12: All right, I don't understand why that won't come off.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_10: All right, we're back.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_12: Must be full screen.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_10: Nope, I don't want to rotate photos.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_10: We're just gonna have to before we do this, photos.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_10: It won't let me quit.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_10: I will force quit it.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_10: Photos, photos, photos, photos, photos.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_10: Force quit, force quit.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_10: There we go.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_10: And we can bring this back up.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_10: We can reload photos.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_10: They're back up and they should move.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_10: They did.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_12: And we'll come here, share, photos, share.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_12: We're back up.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_12: Alright, so we ended up now.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_12: This is the cool chandelier that hangs at House of Commons.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_12: This is where we went.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_12: And so there's this ancient age that right here on the bar.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_12: And clicks.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_12: I had a clix espresso martini that woke my my ass up and got me going.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_12: So I would say that although vodka sucks mainly, clicks vodka does not suck.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_12: There we are at the House of Commons.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_12: You got Nash, Andy was there, Cam Camden, fantastic time.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_12: Plus, we got Walker, myself.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_12: Super Nash was sitting on the end right there.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_12: Not Super Nash CT.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_12: There's the Clicks.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_12: There is my Clicks vodka espresso martini, which was delicious.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_12: And it was so clear and clean.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_12: Alright, let's see if I can find the really good bottles.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_12: Alright, so this is this one right here was amazing.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_12: It was a Four Roses small batch 2017 limited edition barrel strength Al Young 50th anniversary bottle.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_12: So we're talking 2017, it's 2026, it's nine years old, but it was up, it was crazy good.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_12: And CT kindly shared some of that with us.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_12: And then all right, is there another picture?
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_12: That was okay.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_12: So here's a couple pictures of us.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_08: There we go.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_08: Not bad.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_12: All right, so that brings us to so the so we went back early that night and we were all pretty much, I think we ended up watching some baseball, Walker and I, and then fell asleep at about 11:30, no three o'clock in the morning.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_12: It was a long day when you run a f festival.
- 1:16:44SPEAKER_12: I was we we were there at eight o'clock at the House of Commons, and we left at 10, so we're there for two hours.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_12: And Dave Sandlin at the House of Commons, I mean, if you're in Frankfurt, the place to go in the evening is the House of Commons.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_12: There's other places to eat, but when it comes to pores, drinks, atmosphere, it's just a phenomenal bar, and you gotta go.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_12: So, and then if you ever go there and you heard about it on the podcast, because we promote it a lot, just say tiny CT Super Nash is where you heard it on the Scotchy Bourbon Boys.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_12: Say the Scotchy Bourbon Boys told us about this.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_12: We had people come up at the festival and say the only reason why they were there is because we had done the bourbon review with Amsey and Renee.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_12: They had heard about it, and then we talked about what they what you should do to get there.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_12: And they just a couple people were like, I'm here because I found out about this because of you guys.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_12: And I thank them for listening because they listen.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_12: So there, so what finished up the next day?
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_12: We got up, had to get out of the house by 10 o'clock, got out by 10.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_12: We're gonna go to Buffalo Trace, but we decided to go out to breakfast at Cracker Barrel, which is by Buffalo Trace, but we ended up going to Glens Creek.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_12: We were able to see the fire damage, saw that they were extra busy.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_12: I mean, extra, extra busy, which is a good thing for Glens Creek.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_12: And from there it was hop in the car, and five hours later I was home.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_12: So that's bourbon in the banks booked.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_12: As far as what I picked up, picked up four bottles of old Carter, plus thank you for the the whiskey, the Paul John, the pot still, barrel, barrel strength.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_12: Mike says he wished he would have stopped out, stopped and at the booth and hung out.
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_12: I'm sorry.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we had a good time at the booth, that's for sure.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_12: But and also the old Carter 17 Walker.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_12: Thank you very much for that.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_12: I only got four bottles of old Carter and an Evan Williams Kentucky Bourbon Festival pick while it was there.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_12: I didn't have a lot of time to do the lot of bottle buying because I was running the booth.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_12: So wasn't able to pick up any bottles at the festival.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_12: I have to look at hopefully Roxy goes next year, so that'll be cool.
- 1:19:44SPEAKER_12: So, all right, that brings us to the end.
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_12: I think I think that was overall kind of a good review.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_12: What we did had a lot of fun.
- 1:19:55SPEAKER_12: It was fantastic.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_12: I want to thank everybody for joining us tonight.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_12: Look forward to next week when we get into some of the these bottles that we picked up.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_12: I mean, and and one of the things I picked up while just this week here in Ohio was that's gonna be a podcast comparing Blade and Bow 12 year to at 104 to Blade and Bow, because Blade and Bow is one of my favorites of all time.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_12: So, all right, cheers everybody.
