- 0:01Welcome to the Kingdom's Podcast, sharing the stories of
- 0:05ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
- 0:30Ladies and gentlemen, you're welcome to the King Dave's
- 0:33Podcast. And today on the port we have
- 0:37with us the man, the myth and the legend of Mara loves to call
- 0:42Taiwan James, but he's known popularly known on social media
- 0:47as Mr Fixer. He's a man with, you know, a
- 0:51million, a million names and a million portfolios.
- 0:55So kindly introduce yourself to us, Derwin James, Who is Derwin
- 1:02James, who are you and who do you think you are as a person?
- 1:07Alright, thank you very much, Ademola.
- 1:09It's nice to be here with you. So.
- 1:13My real name is Ayodeji. Between I was born into a family
- 1:18of five. I was born in Austria state,
- 1:23Nigeria and so far so good. I currently live in the United
- 1:29Kingdom with my family. Impressed, to be precise.
- 1:33So I am a digital marketer, a CEO and a businessman.
- 1:39And I also do coaching and mentorship for people.
- 1:45And my major is actually business and marketing.
- 1:49I have MSC in Digital Marketing from the University of the West
- 1:54of England in Bristol also. And so far, so good.
- 1:58We establish our new agency. Yeah, Bristol also looking to
- 2:04expand out very soon. Well, interesting.
- 2:09Thank you very much for coming on.
- 2:10But you know, I know you have so many things, but anytime I want
- 2:15to make a summary of you, what I just refer to you is a great man
- 2:20and interesting greatness comes with like a lot of challenges,
- 2:25right. So I know for me my last memory
- 2:29of you was, you know, meeting you back in my university days.
- 2:33But before we circle back to the university days, right, I would
- 2:38like for you to tell us about how great up was for you.
- 2:42You know, from your earliest memory of yourself, you know up
- 2:46till where you got into your OU. So what do you say about that?
- 2:53Ohh. I grew up in a very.
- 2:57Humble environment. Growing up was really
- 3:02challenging. But I bless God, God.
- 3:06God has been faithful. You know, I I came from a
- 3:10household where. Eating rice happens only on on
- 3:19Christmas Day. Came from, from the from from
- 3:24your household. I've probably tasted chicken
- 3:27four times before the age of 12. It's starts or it was starts.
- 3:37Terrible. Or should I say amazing, Humble.
- 3:41Beginnings. Yeah.
- 3:42So it's growing up was quite challenging.
- 3:47My parents, they try so much to give me that proper education.
- 3:53The couldn't even afford it. At some point they have to
- 3:57withdraw me from a private school and I went to I was taken
- 4:03to a public school. Where I was tested and I was
- 4:07told that I shouldn't be in primary three and I was.
- 4:11Just dropped in primary 4, like automatic promotion with the
- 4:16hope that's OK. I should be able to do well in
- 4:20primary four at the end of the term, I I came first in class.
- 4:25It wasn't as if I was not intelligence.
- 4:28It was because of the environment I found myself
- 4:32among. Children.
- 4:35Who doesn't see education as something that's serious?
- 4:40It was a public school for criminal law, you know.
- 4:43And after a year, I returned back to private school.
- 4:47Where? I had to return back to my
- 4:50normal class and. You know, after my primary
- 4:55school, I've continued to Federal Government College,
- 4:59Ichiro Industrial State. I went to boarding school and I
- 5:04did that for about 3 years. Before, my parent could no
- 5:09longer finance my education and I had to return back to another
- 5:13public school to finish my senior secondary school.
- 5:17Ohh. That has always been.
- 5:21It has been a mixed feeling, you know, It's like this moment
- 5:26you're thriving. The next one.
- 5:29There's no money to even survive.
- 5:32I I learned how to also. At a very young age, at the age
- 5:38of 12, I started selling what we call Cooley, Cooley.
- 5:44Then I I sell. Oak Creek cashews.
- 5:50I I, I, I thought I saw so many things then that that was the
- 5:55time I started selling Christian stickers.
- 5:57You know, I sell stickers to people.
- 5:59I go door to door after school to safety cars.
- 6:04So the probabilities to put out their door, you know.
- 6:07For example, I self stickers, popular stickers that say that
- 6:11this house belongs to Jesus. You know, people like to buy
- 6:16things like that. So it's a very young age.
- 6:18I understood what marketing is because, you know, when I
- 6:23started it was a friend of mine that actually loaned me the
- 6:27money to start the stick up business.
- 6:31And I got the stickers. But it wasn't moving.
- 6:35So I figured out that, OK, which of these stickers sold?
- 6:40Well then I I realised that people love something that's
- 6:44prophecy, financial breakthrough.
- 6:47People love something that's justified or that makes them
- 6:51feel safe, Like, oh this, this house is covered by the blood of
- 6:56Jesus, Satan. So no, no entry for you.
- 7:01So sorry to interrupt you. Sorry to interrupt you.
- 7:04I think these one of my major philosophies and I I love to
- 7:09tell my you know, fellow finance people, right?
- 7:11You do not sell what you want to sell, you sell what the market
- 7:16wants to buy and that exactly speak truth to that philosophy.
- 7:23Well that that that was it though, that that's just the
- 7:26summary of how I grew up. So a lot of people now, they
- 7:31just see the success, they look at me and they say, oh, I want
- 7:35to be like Mr Fixer or don't come out and do this for us, but
- 7:39they don't actually know that they all.
- 7:42Mr Fixer. Started at a very young age,
- 7:47even though I, I, I, I, I I didn't know or I never realised
- 7:52that what I was doing then was marketing was sales.
- 7:56I just thought I was just being. Or trying to survive.
- 8:03I remember back in my boarding school days.
- 8:05I was just trying like one of the few students that attended a
- 8:10boarding house and I don't get pocket money.
- 8:14My parents tells me or they told me then they are going to
- 8:18school. You are going to produce
- 8:20boarding house where you will be fed.
- 8:22Three times in a day. So what do you need pocket money
- 8:25for? So anytime I'm hungry.
- 8:29I remember one very day, it was quite it was an emotional day
- 8:34for me. I was so hungry, nothing to eat.
- 8:37I don't have any provision. And I went inside the Bush.
- 8:41I saw a palm canal tree or a palm tree.
- 8:44I saw Pam Canal. I parked so many of of of it and
- 8:49I I looked for a big stone and a smaller stone and I started
- 8:53breaking them open. I heard some until I was full.
- 8:57Inside the Bush alone. And you know so.
- 9:04We're blessed, God. It's been, it's been a long
- 9:06time, but that, you know, diamonds are actually made out
- 9:12of pressure, right? Would you say that the hardships
- 9:16that you faced while you were younger have had a very big
- 9:22impact in shaping who you have become today?
- 9:27Would you? Would you see it?
- 9:29Of course, you know, I I usually say this.
- 9:33If you're not chasing something, something must be chasing you.
- 9:37Definitely a lot of people in our society now.
- 9:41They are a reflection of their past experience.
- 9:47If you've suffered. I am talking about real suffer
- 9:53and I happens to be someone that loved the good things of life at
- 9:57a very young age. I can't just explain where they
- 10:00all. Need for luxury came from I've
- 10:06never experienced luxury before. I've never enjoyed luxury
- 10:10before, but I am the type of person that I love my.
- 10:14Anything I have, I love it to be different.
- 10:17I love it to be unique. Even though I could not afford
- 10:22it. So that forced my brain into
- 10:27thinking about different ways I could have gained access to this
- 10:33lifestyle. And that's in itself.
- 10:38Was really helpful when I was in my boarding school.
- 10:42Before going to boarding house, I my mum, you know, she handed
- 10:47me over to a cobbler, A Shoemaker who taught me how to
- 10:51make shoes and how to repair them.
- 10:53And in my boarding house, my boarding, boarding day, school
- 10:58era. I was actually doing that for
- 11:01people and I was making good money.
- 11:03She also taught me how to make hair, women's hair.
- 11:08And on Friday when we are, we have our social night, our
- 11:12senior, our seniors, XS2S3 seniors.
- 11:16Some of them want to have Bob Marley for, you know, social
- 11:21nights. Some of them want to have little
- 11:23braid and all. And I do that for them.
- 11:26I plated their hair, I did Bob Marley, I did different
- 11:30hairstyle for them and they pay me very well.
- 11:32I mean, very, very well. I was talking about, you seem to
- 11:36know how to do a lot of things right.
- 11:39That makes me think, is that the reason why you got the name Mr
- 11:43Fixer? Like, how did that name come
- 11:45about? Actually, the name the Mr Fixer
- 11:50or the fixer, the way it came was quite.
- 11:54Strange. It was given to me by two
- 11:56different people at two different times.
- 11:58Within a space of one week, I was doing my.
- 12:02IT that time industrial training OU and my boss.
- 12:08Who usually travelled away from the battle to see me in?
- 12:14On site where I was working actually gave me a task to to to
- 12:20to to to complete and having completed the task he asked
- 12:27about a particular thing and. He hacks that how are we going
- 12:33to do it? And I told him don't worry about
- 12:35that, I will find a way to solve it.
- 12:38And he said I really like you. I've never heard you say no to
- 12:43anything, that no, this thing cannot work.
- 12:45You are always finding a way to fix things.
- 12:48You should be called Mr Head Fixer.
- 12:52That was the first time. That same week I travelled back
- 12:55home to Shobo. I went to my sister's salon.
- 13:00And I saw up packing different things from a store and she was
- 13:05like, then she saw this CD and she was, Oh my God, this was the
- 13:09CD, the my first training ever. She recorded it on CD.
- 13:15So the thing was now really rough.
- 13:16And she was like, Oh my God, I wish I can preserve the memory
- 13:19of this. I asked her to give me the CD.
- 13:22She gave me the CD and I was like, you know what?
- 13:25I found a way to make this work. She was like he.
- 13:29Why? Why?
- 13:30I just like you. You just have a way of just
- 13:34making everything work. Ah, you are the confirmed fixer,
- 13:38you know? And I was like my boss mentioned
- 13:40this thing. A few days ago, my sister is
- 13:45also mentioning it today. No words if I ever want to have
- 13:49a brand. That's, you know, that's and
- 13:52that should be like 24/7 that takes care of things like this.
- 13:57I'm going to go with the name. The fixer.
- 14:01And the name Godstock and a lot of doors has opened for me
- 14:06because of that. If some people, they will just
- 14:08hear my name for the first time and they, they will be kind of
- 14:11curious that what do you fix. That's the question many people
- 14:13ask me like what do you fix? And I'll be like anything you
- 14:17want to fix. You know, of course I majored in
- 14:20marketing, but I've actually done a lot of things.
- 14:23I've made a lot of money from things that I I did not even
- 14:26figure out that I could have made money from.
- 14:29Take for example. I remember the first property is
- 14:32sold. In Nigeria.
- 14:35I didn't even tell the person I mean to real estate.
- 14:38The person just said, ohh, you're a marketer, blah, blah
- 14:41blah, blah, blah. I want to give you this
- 14:42property, sell it for me. I'll be like OK then I sold it
- 14:48within four days be surface and that's that's that's what the
- 14:53interest it is I really know you by but there Speaking of fixing
- 14:56things right I'm going to circle back to to to the world of
- 15:00business right. How did you fix yourself into OU
- 15:03and how did you fix it? Life for yourself in OU because
- 15:09I I remember that's basically my eldest member review.
- 15:13And then I remember you used to see like a lot of things that,
- 15:16you know, I just speak sleepers like this.
- 15:19This guy's quite inspiring, you know, Like, you gave me the idea
- 15:22that, oh, I'm somebody from a humble background and I'm very
- 15:25sure of the kind of bright future that I have ahead of me.
- 15:29Like that was the idea always had a fear.
- 15:31And in my head, I was like, this guy would go places.
- 15:35Thank you. Well, I I said.
- 15:38My. I completed my.
- 15:43OMD. In 2020 or 7.
- 15:48And I was supposed to. I wanted to go to OU, so I did
- 15:54direct entry to OU. When when I got to OU, I had two
- 15:58challenges #1 University life was completely or is completely
- 16:02different from what we had in Polytechnic.
- 16:06So what exactly did you study You like I've never asked you.
- 16:11I went with you, but I did not even know what.
- 16:16Yeah. Alright, I I actually, I I I
- 16:19read quantity something Wow. That's what I yeah, I was in ATM
- 16:25environmental department, so the T Square and a boat, right?
- 16:32Yeah, yeah. So when I when I was in OU, life
- 16:37was quite challenging because just like I said during my ND
- 16:43days after that will technically I did business.
- 16:47I sold fish. People called me.
- 16:49People know me as a villager in Federal Polytechnic, especially
- 16:54the lecturers and non teaching staff.
- 16:57The comment by Village issued. Dry fish or through, That's what
- 17:02I used to train myself then. And also I am extremely
- 17:06brilliant. I actually finished I I I I
- 17:09schooled completely on scholarship while in Ohio.
- 17:13I was on yes, I was on scholarship.
- 17:16So I realised one more this way you like is different to I need
- 17:22to be serious if I want to make it out of this place because my
- 17:26first semester result was really poor and I I don't want to lose
- 17:31my scholarship. One.
- 17:32Number two, I need to know what I am doing if I want to, you
- 17:36know, have a good life because my parent has always made me,
- 17:40you know, understood that in order for you to succeed in
- 17:44life. Education is important even
- 17:47though I have a different mindset now.
- 17:52Education is not important for you to succeed in life.
- 17:55You just need sense and needs to have a plan for your life as a
- 18:00consequence, with very good education says the market is
- 18:05highly educated with the masters so.
- 18:09No, I'll tell you somebody you know was it yesterday was like,
- 18:14ohh, you can save. Money's not everything in life,
- 18:17but you need to make money first before you earn the right to say
- 18:20it. So I think you have earned the
- 18:22right to say education is also important because you know well.
- 18:25Yes, I can say, well, you can say that so.
- 18:30Few things, actually. I I didn't do any business in
- 18:35OU, but I I did more services. I I used to skate a lot and I
- 18:43dance, so people pay me, you know, we go for dance shows, we
- 18:48get money from there. And I also I used to skate
- 18:51inline skating. I don't know if you've ever seen
- 18:53me skating backing OU. I skated the whole lot saying,
- 18:58you know, I I remember because like with this guy, he these
- 19:02guys are dancers like interesting, interesting.
- 19:05We actually were in oil at the same time with a lot of, you
- 19:09know, entertainers that are like making waves right now.
- 19:12Yeah, types of black bones, the likes of Chinco Echo.
- 19:18Did you? I know it was a dancer in OU.
- 19:21Did you ever have any kid with him?
- 19:24No, no, no, no. Actually, the crew that I
- 19:28belong. But then I used to dance with
- 19:33Chopsy. I used to dance with this guy.
- 19:36He's he's he's late now. I used to I we had a very strong
- 19:42crew. We even went for Malta Guinness
- 19:45Dance and Family Dance. Sorry, Malta Guinness
- 19:48competition. Twice.
- 19:50The first one we went we were disqualified at the normal
- 19:54ground, while the 2nd 1:00 we we we were disqualified at the
- 19:58semifinal stage, so. So.
- 20:03Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:07And I also did this Malta Guinness campus toting Martina
- 20:13Campus 13. I want it.
- 20:15I want that once. During that Nescafe show idea, I
- 20:22remember that thing. I I I I I I I got the skating
- 20:28gig. I was the one that got the
- 20:31skating gig, but God was really good to me at OU because during
- 20:36my CS/IT I was able to, you know secure lots of connection.
- 20:41I have mothers connection at OU till date mothers connection
- 20:45with even up to BC level. We we ran parallel together.
- 20:51I don't want to talk about that. Mothers Connection So when?
- 20:56When, when, when? When?
- 20:58When Nuga game came, I got a contract with Access Bank.
- 21:03I was the one that got the whole of Lugar contract at OU.
- 21:08So I did the whole banner, the whole billboards, the whole
- 21:12flyer, the whose, everything. So I made mothers money for the
- 21:17first time in my life. I saw millions.
- 21:20My life. Yeah, so that's and also when we
- 21:26did the swimming pool construction, you know, I, I, I,
- 21:32I, I made a lot of money from that too.
- 21:34So I think I've just been the this kind of guy because I'm
- 21:38hard working, because I'm always that go get that guy kind of
- 21:42person. Life has a way of working for
- 21:45me. So you know, I can't say I'm
- 21:48lucky. I'm not lucky.
- 21:50I I I blessed really hard for everything I've gotten in my
- 21:54life for it. Take for example the the man
- 21:57that connected me to the Access Bank gig.
- 22:01He saw me working on site one day.
- 22:03He saw my glasses and he was like, oh I love the glasses blah
- 22:06blah blah blah blah blah blah. I was like, ohh yeah, I got here
- 22:09on campus really. So it asked me to take him
- 22:11there. I took him there.
- 22:13And he was able to get his own glasses.
- 22:15Why bring him back on site? It was like, man, I really like
- 22:19your pushover about this one that you speak so well.
- 22:22What? What do you do after?
- 22:23I mean students now? Well, I really am.
- 22:26I thought you had Labour on that side.
- 22:29Imagine how I looked or someone to think.
- 22:34I I was a labourer not people with student even though I was a
- 22:38student back then. But what I'm just trying to say
- 22:40is. So at one point it might just
- 22:43came it was like ohh, there's this thing, I don't know if it's
- 22:46something you can and do, you know Access Bank is going to be
- 22:48the one to host local games and I feel like this is something
- 22:52you can do. And, you know, he gave me that
- 22:55opportunity, and I took it well. And I did not misbehave.
- 22:58I I I consulted the right people.
- 23:01I did what I was supposed to do. I submitted the right quotation.
- 23:04Got the gig. From there to I was able to get
- 23:07all that gigs. I got the gig for Super Sport
- 23:10too. I was the one that.
- 23:13Erected all these stand, all those structural stand that
- 23:17super sports use for their shooting, their coverage.
- 23:20I did everything, them thinking about the whole thing and at
- 23:25that, at that point in your life, it was a really big deal.
- 23:28Yeah, it was a big deal. I remember then this.
- 23:33BlackBerry Z or Q5 came out Q5 or Q10.
- 23:39I can't remember the name. I got a phone today.
- 23:42I travelled over today. My mom said she liked the phone.
- 23:44I gave her the phone today. I got back to the next day.
- 23:47I got another phone the next day.
- 23:50I climbed this bad meeting court at OU.
- 23:55Badminton courts to erect the. The Billboard at on top of that
- 24:02huge cuts the pavilion and I forgot the phone there.
- 24:06Wow. No way.
- 24:09No. Way back, just like yesterday,
- 24:12they removed the whole scaffold. The scaffold was driving off the
- 24:17campus and I remembered my phone was someone was calling the
- 24:20phone. I was hearing the phone ring up
- 24:22there there. There was no way for me to get
- 24:24back up unless I rent another scaffold.
- 24:26I was just too busy. My boss was calling me.
- 24:29I was trying to do the company job.
- 24:31I was trying to do my own job. I had to get another phone.
- 24:34That same day. So I had so much money that I
- 24:38did not even know what to use the money for.
- 24:40I could not tell anybody how much I was what.
- 24:43But I had millions. But I could not see them anyway
- 24:47because this is this was me. I, as at that time, I've never
- 24:52had my own 50,000 naira. And all of a sudden I became a
- 24:57millionaire overnight. So would you say that was your
- 25:02first major breakthrough? Because yes, for everybody,
- 25:05there's that one contract, one job, you know, 1 gig that just
- 25:11gives you a major breakthrough and makes you believe in
- 25:13yourself. Would you say that that also,
- 25:16you know, made you take yourself more seriously?
- 25:20I'm actually no and yes, and I'm going to simplify it.
- 25:28When I. All the money I made from Nuga
- 25:32Super Sports, Yes, and they. Did they wanted to give me the
- 25:37same contract? But someone, an elderly person,
- 25:40advised me not to do that because it would be a kind of
- 25:45bridge. I was already working with
- 25:47Access banks. And GT wanted to hijack me to
- 25:53get the show, you know, So someone advised me that no, no,
- 25:56don't do that. They are competitors.
- 25:58They don't want to work with this and work with that.
- 26:00It's going to ruin your reputation.
- 26:02And I was glad I didn't do that because at the end of the whole
- 26:05competition. Says Bank.
- 26:07There was this independent job Access Bank just required me to
- 26:12execute. It wasn't my access.
- 26:15Bank funded it. They just hired me as.
- 26:19The muzzle to do the job and at the end of the job Access Bank
- 26:23told me to take every material you get.
- 26:29So they know they they know part of the answer.
- 26:34Is because I didn't learn how to use my money wisely.
- 26:39I squandered everything I got. Exactly.
- 26:41Exactly. That's the next, you know, whole
- 26:47situation. Yeah, there's there's this
- 26:49Yoruba adage that says. Caralluma Finger, in the English
- 26:55interpretation is whatever money a young man gets first, he's
- 27:01he's just going to use it to satisfy himself.
- 27:04He's not going to spend it wisely.
- 27:06So I I I squandered the money just anyhow.
- 27:10But where I got clarity? Was still during that period.
- 27:16What happened was my boss got a contract to fix the sport
- 27:22complex. The whole floor of that sport
- 27:25complex. If you remember that indulging
- 27:27my boss. My boss told me to do the
- 27:30quotation. I did the quotation and the job
- 27:33was around 3 million and my boss said and I quote this job is
- 27:38beneath me. You have learned enough on the
- 27:41job how your digi I give you this job.
- 27:44Go and do everything. So he gave me that job, and that
- 27:50was the first time in my life I. Stop.
- 27:54I see myself differently. I started perceiving myself like
- 28:00you're a personal value. Yeah, there's someone just your
- 28:05boss. Seriously.
- 28:07Yeah, you know, I see. I see my boss like gold.
- 28:11When will I ever get to this stage?
- 28:13My boss loves luxury vehicles. Vehicles. 14 luxury vehicles.
- 28:22I'm not talking about vehicles of 34 million as at that time he
- 28:25owns 14 of them. Is leased vehicle happens to be
- 28:28Lexus RX330, as are then. Yeah.
- 28:34So I was like, for this man to trust you.
- 28:38To do this job. You know what?
- 28:42You need to start taking yourself more seriously.
- 28:46So I did that job. You know, the way federal
- 28:48government job apples. Now you use your money to do it
- 28:51and they'll pay you after like 30 to 6 months You as a matter
- 28:54of fact you'll be chasing them to collect their money.
- 28:57So when the money for that job came.
- 29:01It was really important to me, even though I've seen more.
- 29:05With assets bank and super sport job.
- 29:10I've squandered those ones, right.
- 29:11Alright, thank you. This probably 20,000 feels like
- 29:1620 million to you. Yes, you get it.
- 29:19So now I I I was able to appreciate the the, the money,
- 29:23The profit from that job was less than two millionaire, to be
- 29:27honest with you. And the reason why I was even
- 29:30able to get that much profit happened because my boss told
- 29:33me. Whatever thing you need for this
- 29:36job. Called the office at the bottom.
- 29:39They will bring any equipment or any staff for you but I won't I
- 29:43I dash you. So I fixed the doors to this bad
- 29:47meeting called the Lawn Tennis court.
- 29:50Sorry I didn't door Lawn Tennis court and the indoor gym.
- 29:54I fixed the door. I fixed the floor.
- 29:56I did the old maintenance repainted change from windows
- 30:01channel Every time I think look look back.
- 30:05And I remember that building. Excuse me this.
- 30:09This Bible game. You hold this project.
- 30:13You did this project hard work this.
- 30:16Is my It's not as if they put me there and say, you know I was an
- 30:20IT student that time, not not go, go look after this.
- 30:25It is it is your job. Anything you do, you do.
- 30:28If you spoil it. If you do it well, I was able to
- 30:31do it well. I got the money and I treated
- 30:34that money very well. That was when I had my first
- 30:37fixed deposit in my life. I I fixed my 100,000 out of that
- 30:42money because I was like. I sat down and I asked my I
- 30:45said, what did you use almost 6 million to do?
- 30:48I can't say. This is done.
- 30:51OK? I got a car.
- 30:52That was the only sensible thing.
- 30:55You got a car? But the rest?
- 30:58So I was going to Old Market. I wasn't aware of that place on
- 31:02campus. You book a new book.
- 31:06It's a joy myself. Carry girls, enjoy myself.
- 31:12I could I I wasn't drinking. I don't smoke.
- 31:16It's just food, food, food, food, food, drink, drink, drink,
- 31:19nice drink. And also, well, bless God.
- 31:22So that was that. That.
- 31:23That's it. Nice, nice, nice.
- 31:27It's really fantastic for you, you know, And then you know,
- 31:30heading into business that is, you know, apparently in OU
- 31:35you're established that platform for yourself to be known as the
- 31:38fixer, to be known as a business person.
- 31:41You already knew what you wanted to do in life.
- 31:43You know a lot of people who went to uni with us, right?
- 31:47I think probably it was in their final year they started thinking
- 31:52about, OK, what do I want to do with?
- 31:54My what do I want to do? Yeah, that unfortunately
- 31:58sometimes like for for me for example I think it was in the
- 32:02third year I knew that OK I want to I want to practise as a
- 32:05chartered accountant because I had there was a time we had was
- 32:10a called a long strike right. And then as the firm of
- 32:14Chartered Accountants I knew that OK, I would like to do
- 32:16this. I'd like to explore these.
- 32:18It gets you respect in life and you know and you some money as
- 32:21well. Right.
- 32:22But you're established that platform for yourself.
- 32:26And I remember we had, I don't know if you were my before you
- 32:30were in a set above mine. You finished 2015 or 20/20/15
- 32:35every time I've been in myself. So we even had to like, wait
- 32:39quite a while for NYC. Yeah.
- 32:42So porn, Yes, it happened at all.
- 32:44Right. So things from there from, you
- 32:48know, leaving OU like what kind of business?
- 32:51How did you not establish yourself in business?
- 32:53Because I remember meeting your game in Abuja, because it seems
- 32:57like your life and my life I've kind of been intertwined.
- 33:01So I saw, you know, you, I said in the United Kingdom, I still
- 33:06saw you again. I was like, what?
- 33:08That's something. OK, OK with this guy,
- 33:15understand. Yeah, God works in in, you know,
- 33:20mysterious way. I have always believed that.
- 33:26There's a reason behind. Our path always crossing
- 33:32interesting. And I I even know for sure that.
- 33:38That purpose is not yet established.
- 33:42Finally, because you know sometimes.
- 33:46God can send you guardian angels in form of a man.
- 33:52And. Just one word.
- 33:55Just one word is all you need to hold on to.
- 34:00A friend of mine I met here in England.
- 34:04A few weeks ago. Called me.
- 34:08At night. And it told me something, he
- 34:12said. You changed my life completely
- 34:16now. Like, how did I change your
- 34:17life? The first time I met him.
- 34:23The first day we we got to see face to face.
- 34:27He he he just got a car. We've been talking.
- 34:31He said he needed the car, you know, and it was like he
- 34:34borrowed the entire money, borrowed more money from his
- 34:37wife, borrowed more money from his friend and he was able to
- 34:40get the car. I got a car for 1200 lbs, you
- 34:44know, of course, you know, cars are quite affordable here.
- 34:47Got a used car, 1200. And we met and I asked him a
- 34:52question that day. I said you've been in England
- 34:55for two years. And you could not.
- 35:01Raise 1000 to from your own pockets.
- 35:04You have to borrow from ABC. I said.
- 35:10Five years from now. What do you want to see you you
- 35:15have achieved living in England? And he could not answer me.
- 35:21He said he left me that night. That's that question seems like.
- 35:29I carried a huge rock and I landed it on your head.
- 35:34Started thinking about his life. That Who is this guy?
- 35:39Do you get what I'm trying to say?
- 35:40Yeah, I get you. That's what you're about.
- 35:42People call he he give me words out like a rock and you know.
- 35:49Like. Yeah, I've seen your guy.
- 35:53I'm just seeing this guy face to face today.
- 35:56To did to D and this guy has has already push some words into my
- 36:01life and you know he said he wasn't comfortable with his life
- 36:06anymore was like if I am, if I am not careful.
- 36:10This is how my life will continue to be for the next five
- 36:13years, as this guy has asked me, and that one day I will wake up,
- 36:17ask myself the same question he has challenged me with, and I
- 36:21won't be able to see any major things.
- 36:23So you see, Yeah, listen, to give us that reality check, but
- 36:28for you, you Where was that reality check for you?
- 36:32Well, there, there, there. The reality check has always
- 36:35been. My bad grant.
- 36:40I. There, there, there, there.
- 36:43There is this phrase I usually say that I've stopped saying.
- 36:46I used to say one thing that I don't ever want to turn out like
- 36:50my father. Well, yeah, exactly.
- 36:53I was on my notes. I was actually good going
- 36:57towards that. Right.
- 36:58Because I I remember from some conversations with you, you, you
- 37:02tell me about your parental influences, right.
- 37:04And then I was like, OK, this, this man, you know, must have
- 37:08gone through certain things that actually are motivating him as
- 37:14well as telling a friend recently you had this friend is
- 37:18Nigerian and I think they're from South Africa.
- 37:21And they were asking me about hard life growing up in Nigeria
- 37:25is right. And you know how like the elders
- 37:30influence us in our ways. And then I told, I told this
- 37:34person this right, that in Nigeria we tend to have parents
- 37:41that will tell you these are the good elders, these are the bad
- 37:44others, right? They tell you these ones, you
- 37:47know, try to act like. They try to, you know, be like
- 37:51them this once. They're highly educated, right?
- 37:53Try to be educated so that it can be like Mr. A, Mr B, right.
- 37:57And they tell you take your education very seriously, right.
- 38:00So that you don't end up like Mr XYZ.
- 38:05YZ then. That's actually gives you the
- 38:10mentality shift. It does something to your
- 38:13psychic as a person, to your mindset, right?
- 38:16That is, you see certain examples right?
- 38:19And you see, I don't want to end up like this because children
- 38:25observe. She didn't learn a lot about 07.
- 38:30And when you look at certain examples, they see character
- 38:33flaws, right? Not like, oh, this person is
- 38:35probably entirely a bad person, right?
- 38:37But then you learn from the failures of certain people who
- 38:41have been ahead of you and say, I do not want to end up like
- 38:44this. And then you also observe some
- 38:46people that, you know, achieve certain things that you want to
- 38:49achieve, right? And then say, OK, I want to
- 38:53trade this particular footsteps, right?
- 38:56And it says as a motivation to you.
- 38:59So for for me personally, right, I saw certain bad examples
- 39:03growing up and it was more like a childhood trauma for me as a
- 39:08person that is. So see, I don't know what I want
- 39:12to end up like this kind of people and it keeps me pushing
- 39:17harder than I should regularly push as a person just because I
- 39:22didn't want to end up like that. So I don't know you.
- 39:25You can't, you can't shed more light on that.
- 39:29So. So so.
- 39:33You know, I've heard a lot of stories about my dad and my mom,
- 39:37and like I told you at a very young age, I've always loved the
- 39:41good things of life. So I started asking myself some
- 39:44questions. Why are we like this?
- 39:47Why are are we living like this? My parents are both educated.
- 39:52My mom went to OU. No.
- 39:56My dad happens to be the first a Kiwi in the whole of on those
- 40:00states. My dad happens to be the first
- 40:04councillor in my local government.
- 40:08The hold or your state now or should state.
- 40:12No, they've always they might. That especially Paul neared a
- 40:18lot of good stuff. So I'm like, how did it turn out
- 40:22to be the way he is? Why is he not successful
- 40:26financially? Then I started.
- 40:30You know, I'm a thinker. I don't read amid Pinka.
- 40:36I can't think anything, and I can even think my way to
- 40:39prosperity. I know how to think a lot.
- 40:43I started thinking about. My Napoleon Hill think I'm very
- 40:46rich. Yeah.
- 40:47Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I read that book 11 times. 11
- 40:52Strong That book was one of my very early, you know, challenge,
- 40:56influences. My father gave me that book to
- 40:58read. So so so I I realised that there
- 41:04are some mistakes my dad made right?
- 41:08Also think and grow rich also give me some clarity to
- 41:12understand my father. More.
- 41:14Yeah, Yeah, yeah, yeah, robot. I realised that.
- 41:17OK, there's that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:22There, there, there, there. There were some mistakes my dad
- 41:25made. Also is a single loner.
- 41:29It doesn't have friends. So I I was able to realise that
- 41:33OK, if you don't have friends, if you are rich and you 4 which
- 41:38means you don't have impact in anybody's life, how can you get
- 41:42back up? No way.
- 41:46Even if you are not rich but you bring something to the table
- 41:51like support you know being there for your friends when they
- 41:56need you. Say for example let's say you
- 41:58are rich. I am not rich you you you have
- 42:00an event I'm there to support who appear iron have quickly
- 42:06gone to the right places Oh these are the prices businesses
- 42:11you transfer money to me or you've given me cash Bam I don't
- 42:16ship the meat entire compound tyre and for one corner you know
- 42:20you like ohh when next you are having a get together you know
- 42:24that I can rely on a Y because he knows all these Let's go and
- 42:29get me. Let's go and shop for Ram.
- 42:32Let's go and shop for goat thing.
- 42:33You get my fantasy. So if I ever have needs, you
- 42:37won't just push me away because you know that this guy is useful
- 42:40in a way. Ohh God.
- 42:43When my grandma died, when we were doing my grandma's period
- 42:47towards it, Why That took care of all of the preparation.
- 42:52Do you get what I'm? Trying to say is essential to be
- 42:54a resourceful person. Yeah, they're resourceful.
- 42:57Don't just be like because me, I don't have money, My friend has
- 43:02money. I should not be envious or I
- 43:04should not be looking for how to hurt you.
- 43:06No, rather I should be closer to you.
- 43:09Try to learn from you. And apart from learning from
- 43:12you, even though I don't have money to give you, we don't have
- 43:15any business transaction to run. But I should be able to put
- 43:20myself in a strategic position in your life that whenever you
- 43:23see my call, you won't be like I beg, I will call him later.
- 43:29You know that, OK, this guy has his own impact.
- 43:33And if you've noticed me carefully, if you've if you've
- 43:36paid attention to me, you realise that I'm the kind of
- 43:38person that you cannot look at me anyhow because #1 the value I
- 43:46bring to the table from day one. Even if I will not end up being
- 43:49your friend getting to meet you for the first time, you will
- 43:52know for sure that this guy is sensible.
- 43:56Even though I may not be your friend, because I've met a lot
- 43:58of people that I learned this from the little banking you
- 44:01happen to be one of my mentors before COVID-19 took him away.
- 44:05You know it. It taught us something, he said.
- 44:08You should, you should not be eager to bring people closer.
- 44:13When you meet people, you have 4 places to put them.
- 44:17It draw it. It drew something like a plus
- 44:19sign, plus, minus, multiplication and addition, he
- 44:24said. If someone comes into your life
- 44:27for the first time and you like how they're standing, take them
- 44:30to the plus part. If you if you're meeting someone
- 44:34for the first time and the person sounds so annoyed that
- 44:37just talking about bum bum about sex, about chau about last
- 44:41night, I am indeed subtraction immediately.
- 44:45If that person should ever ask for a number, don't give it to
- 44:48them. Find a way to quickly change its
- 44:51subject now that person you've added to addition.
- 44:55Then as time goes on you realise that OK, this person is someone
- 44:59you can actually engage with. Maybe business wise, spiritually
- 45:03or career wise. You put them in multiplication,
- 45:07that is, they are adding to your life.
- 45:09You multiply them, but now. If that person that you feel
- 45:15like, oh, this person is someone that sensible turn out to be
- 45:17speak casual friend, that's OK. There's nothing of value that
- 45:22this person can do for you. Of course they are sensible,
- 45:25they are good, so they will be like you're putting them in a
- 45:28bank. So you subtract you, you divide
- 45:31them, right and say, you know what, I will have this person's
- 45:34contact once in a while. When I see this person status, I
- 45:38will just to be on the top of the mind.
- 45:41Now we have the hard acquaintance.
- 45:43Yeah, like hair. Like an acquittance.
- 45:47But not a friend, friend, friend.
- 45:49So let's say something comes like I say I remember tha
- 45:55together very, very good. And you see the quality of this
- 45:59guy. Talk to him so that that will
- 46:01not get someone to say hello. Are you Mr Dedham they fix up
- 46:05told me to call you that you are good at this this is that your
- 46:08price is around 7:50 to 1,000,000 for for video shoot or
- 46:12we we need a videographer in Manchester.
- 46:15Can you do it for us that that will see me as someone that is
- 46:19good that wow wow. So Mr Pixar gave me a client.
- 46:24What has happened that that now? Emotional bank accounts.
- 46:31Yeah, you get now. Dadas is now holding me one for
- 46:35the future, so there are a lot of things that.
- 46:40The life we don't think about and we just do our thing.
- 46:44So for me, I was able to quickly decipher all of these things.
- 46:49I I knew what I wanted for my life.
- 46:51I usually say this to my wife, that I've always known that I'll
- 46:55be very successful. I just didn't know when that it
- 46:58would be this early to be very honest with you.
- 47:02And I also discovered one thing, one good thing.
- 47:06It is easier for an intelligent extra fat to make it in life
- 47:12than an intelligent intro fat. Few people I have coached, The
- 47:20few people I have coached that are extra fat like myself, they
- 47:25make it faster than the people I have coached that are
- 47:29introverts. Because as an extra fat yes, a
- 47:34lot of people are not going to like you, especially if you
- 47:36choose to be very vocal. Especially you take advantage of
- 47:39places like social media Every day.
- 47:41I block people. I don't care, yes.
- 47:45Almost everyday block people and one thing about me is I've been
- 47:49able to understand the way social media works.
- 47:51So you have to don't be on the side of the the the crowd.
- 47:57You want to be a little crazy with a touch of corporate Ness
- 48:04on social. So when I bring a viral topic
- 48:06and people are like, I don't like this.
- 48:08Mr Fixer, why do you always this?
- 48:10Why do you always that? Guess what?
- 48:12As the heat is going on. Some people are already talking
- 48:15to me in the DM. Some people are.
- 48:18Yes, yeah, Some people are already asking for my number.
- 48:21Some people are already coming to say ohh Mr Fix.
- 48:23I swear to God, it's like you know me.
- 48:26You are. I'm the one you're talking to.
- 48:28Why did you not just people mention my name?
- 48:30I need your help in my life. Give me your account number.
- 48:33Let's talk. Let's do this.
- 48:35Check out what I'm trying to say.
- 48:36So, so after my NYC, I I knew for sure that you know what?
- 48:42Number one, I I wanted to go to the big city.
- 48:45I knew Lagos was not an option because during my project in OU
- 48:49I was told to go to Lagos, Lagos State Secretariat for my
- 48:54research and all. And I hated Lagos.
- 48:57That time. Every day I was having serious
- 49:00headache at night I said no, no, no, Lagos is not for me.
- 49:04That was the day. Oh, it was your brother.
- 49:07That was the day I came to Lagos and I came for an interview at
- 49:12the On the Island and there you and I left your place for a head
- 49:21and we got there and we've got to the venue 830.
- 49:27Wow. And I was like, no, no, no, I
- 49:31don't want no. Both these kind of exactly,
- 49:37exactly right. I remember I told you I had an
- 49:39internship while we're in our third year in in Oahu and then I
- 49:44had to wake up 4:00 AM all the time, you know go to the island
- 49:47right from the mainland just to to get that work experience.
- 49:53I think from then I told myself no way this is stuff would be
- 49:57and that was why I said to the Abuja, so I can understand your
- 50:00pains, I feel your frustration. And then I chose Abuja rather
- 50:05than legal. I saw, You know, we just like.
- 50:07Well, what? What's up with this guy?
- 50:08What's up? So I should Abuja.
- 50:14Why? Why not?
- 50:15Why? While I was on the job I was
- 50:16doing in Abuja, You know, Of course I know that.
- 50:19Another thing a lot of dudes lack, They don't understand that
- 50:25even though you have a good dream, even though your dreams
- 50:28are valid, you need to serve someone first, not necessarily
- 50:35someone in mind. Yeah, not not necessarily
- 50:38someone in line of your dream, but sometimes you need that
- 50:44experience. You need that life, work
- 50:46experience. Say for example you you
- 50:49graduated and from there you want to.
- 50:54Bute something you don't have. The discipline.
- 50:58You've never woken up. Dress up for work You've never
- 51:03been shouted at for not meeting a deadline.
- 51:07You've never had a sleepless night to submit a deadline that
- 51:10is not an homework or assignment.
- 51:14The only dead nights you sorry. The only late night you've done
- 51:18happens to be for your examination.
- 51:22So. Getting the ability to serve
- 51:26under someone. Give me that hedge.
- 51:32I've worked in an establishment that a lot of people don't just
- 51:36like me for no reason, just because they see you happens to
- 51:40just like me also for no reason. And they're like, what's up with
- 51:45this guy? Why is it different?
- 51:47Why is it that See you let let let me share a beautiful story
- 51:51with you before we end this Our CEO, the CEO of the company I
- 51:58work. Has been in Nigeria for over 10
- 52:04years and he has never tasted normal water except from Nestle
- 52:09Lester. He came from America and he said
- 52:13the only reason why he drinks. In fact they used less to to
- 52:16cook for him. Said.
- 52:18The only reason why I stick to that is if he should ever have
- 52:22an issue health problem that is waterborne is going to sue them
- 52:28knowing fully well that it was nice to He has been drinking all
- 52:32his life. Hmm.
- 52:36You get now that was the day he sent me to the bank.
- 52:41Told told the driver to take me to the bank to go get some money
- 52:45and on my way back to the office I bought oranges and I was
- 52:53drinking and I got to the office and I was like ah it what we're
- 52:57also is it is this is this sweet I said that also was like Mr Mr
- 53:04Jimmy. He collected.
- 53:07It from me put it in his mouth and everybody at the office look
- 53:12at themselves like you know why? Because it's going to never eat
- 53:19outside you if you give or God gifts that is edible.
- 53:24He will tell you in this, in your presence, that he he does
- 53:28not take anything edible from people, and I was.
- 53:33Like, ah, so you do little. He asked the driver to take me
- 53:37back to the place and buy more for him.
- 53:39He only said one thing. Jimo, make sure where you work
- 53:43for. I look forward there like that
- 53:45is the 9th used to cut the orange.
- 53:48Make sure you wash it yourself. Our boss is that I don't.
- 53:53I don't know how to explain you, all these health conscious
- 53:56people, but the one you took from me, did I instruct the
- 54:00orange high level OCD? You know that he really likes
- 54:06me. You know when he's having
- 54:07meetings with. I met the former Jaguar, the
- 54:10former UFC, this guy, I met him in his office.
- 54:13I met a lot of politicians with it and you know, I was a staff.
- 54:17But this guy, this guy, this man would be having meeting in his
- 54:20office and he send for me tell me to sit down but that's not
- 54:25the reason that. Love Jealousy for you?
- 54:28Yeah. So a lot of people, they tell me
- 54:30for no reason and through my ways and after after closing
- 54:345:00, I'm going to stay back at work just to use the office
- 54:38computer, Internet and electricity to, you know, to
- 54:41quickly share more my small marketing.
- 54:45That was in Abuja, right? Yeah.
- 54:47And transition into business in. Abuja, because I remember you,
- 54:52you were into selling. Jeans at some point.
- 54:55And you started the digital marketing thing, right?
- 54:59You know I I marketing has been there for the gene business.
- 55:04So what's the? You said how how did you
- 55:09transition from, from working, you know, for a?
- 55:11Company into now working for yourself, OK?
- 55:14For myself, yeah. Do you want number of?
- 55:17Companies, yeah. That is the part I'm getting to
- 55:21now. So he challenged me one night.
- 55:23He said, what you always do back at the office after, everybody's
- 55:28always rushing to leave. But you you will sit down and
- 55:32you are always the one locking the office.
- 55:34What do you stay back for? And I told him, OK, I know I
- 55:37know how to do this. I can do this.
- 55:39And I just try to use the office resources because I know the
- 55:43office hole we staff to that we office.
- 55:46I I've, I've, I, I, I, I I know that a lot of scenes that your
- 55:51work should be responsible to adding value to your life.
- 55:55If you want to build something you want to better yourself.
- 55:58Of course your office should be able to help assist with that.
- 56:00So I use the resources at the office just to be able to work a
- 56:03little before going to my village because I was saying I'm
- 56:05happy you know now. So I think that.
- 56:12The UK just just so that the ends bro bro.
- 56:16So, so it was like, wow, really, you know how to do all of these
- 56:20things. Then he adds.
- 56:21This Lebanon Lebanese friend who wanted to design A website back
- 56:26then. And it was like, I have a staff
- 56:28that said he can do this, let him do it for you.
- 56:32Invited me into his office, The man spoke with me.
- 56:34I asked him what do you want? I got I I was able to get his
- 56:38brief. Then I designed the website for
- 56:40free. I did everything for free.
- 56:42I submitted it. Then after like 2 weeks my boss
- 56:46just called me to the office and he handed me money you need in
- 56:50an envelope. I was like, what's this money
- 56:52for? Say remember that Lebanese guy
- 56:54you build a website for said I should give you this?
- 56:57I can't take that money. It was 350 thousand.
- 56:59If that man has asked me that, how much are you going to build
- 57:04that website? My money then was 100K wrong.
- 57:09Excuse me, 300 1001 I. Asked for, Yeah, So after a few
- 57:15days, after a few days, I was in my boss's office, you know, as
- 57:20usual. Then after the visitor left, he
- 57:22told me to wait back in the office and he, you know, he
- 57:25started asking me. He said, do you know that before
- 57:29you will succeed at it as a as a quantity surveyor, you will have
- 57:33to practise for at least 10 years.
- 57:34I said yes, said that. But this thing you already know
- 57:37how to do, why don't you build on it?
- 57:40I said. Ah.
- 57:41I I am building on it, but I need to work, you know it was it
- 57:45mentality, no doubts. Slave mentality of education.
- 57:51That's a school puts in your head.
- 57:55Huge part for other people, yes, he he gave me a huge benefit, he
- 58:02said. You know what?
- 58:05I want you to go start something for yourself.
- 58:08After three months, if you're not happy with what you're
- 58:13doing, come back and resume your work.
- 58:19Do you get and? That was a shift.
- 58:22And that was a shift you're calling now.
- 58:25Do you know the crazy part? Do you know the crazy part?
- 58:26I was making average of 300 K every month from my business,
- 58:32whereas I was being paid 60,000 for the job I was doing justice.
- 58:40We'll work on $60,000 buy. Or what could you buy at that
- 58:45time? Of course I was able to pay my
- 58:48rent. My rate was 120 K per year, and
- 58:52every month I spent about 35,000 around feeding and everything.
- 58:56You know, bachelor's life now. The only food I love to eat
- 58:59there was beans and into me. Beans into me, based into me,
- 59:02based into me. I made it with Gary sometimes,
- 59:05Yeah. So into me.
- 59:06An egg, beans and garri beans and no Gary.
- 59:10I love beans. I love, you know, so and from
- 59:14there you know that time within a year I saved 8 Millionaire
- 59:20that year. That year I stopped working 8
- 59:25million naira. I had 8 million.
- 59:27I I don't even know what to use the money for because I'm still
- 59:31living at PAPI, still paying 120 Keeper backing up your cash.
- 59:36Yes, cash was just piling up. Once a week, I go to Jabi Lake
- 59:40Mall to heat. Nothing more.
- 59:43I kept walking. You know, you know where you are
- 59:46now. You're not going to work.
- 59:47I think that's what this that is still the same habit that is
- 59:51still in me till today. I wake up like this big.
- 59:54I don't brush my teeth. The first thing I start this
- 59:56work, I just pick up my phone, pick my laptop, and I start
- 1:00:00making money as early as 6:00 AM in the morning.
- 1:00:03Work, work. Work.
- 1:00:04Work. Work, work, work, work, work.
- 1:00:06Now you know my wife, you say. Oh, we should travel.
- 1:00:08We should go on vacation, though.
- 1:00:10Yeah, let's go here. Let's go.
- 1:00:11It's not that I'm. You need to spend money on Ohh
- 1:00:14no. I also have a baby.
- 1:00:15I spend quality time with my baby and all, but that was how I
- 1:00:20started my business. Would be the digital marketing.
- 1:00:27Team right there, Yeah. How did you know Then I wanted.
- 1:00:31Then I wanted. I wanted something.
- 1:00:34I wanted to sell a product. I wanted to have a product.
- 1:00:38That was why I chose Gene. Business I I did my research.
- 1:00:43I said, OK, I want to do fashion, but I don't want to do
- 1:00:46everyday fashion. What is that part of dressing
- 1:00:50that people cannot get enough of?
- 1:00:53Everybody wears jeans. And that's all I was able to I
- 1:00:58chose, I chose gym business and I that was it.
- 1:01:05A debut and. I think at some point you you
- 1:01:08had to sell the business, right? Yeah, I saw the business before
- 1:01:12relocating out of Nigeria. Even though I'm planning to
- 1:01:14start the business again, but I want to, I want to have my own
- 1:01:17brand now. Like I want to have my own gym
- 1:01:19brand, OK? Interesting.
- 1:01:22So. So quickly, I'm going to ask you
- 1:01:25two prompt question, right. I see something on your social
- 1:01:30media, right. It's called the billionaire
- 1:01:32mindset. And you know, sometimes when I'm
- 1:01:34talking about you with my brother and there's like, ohh,
- 1:01:37how's that with James? I'm like the man with the
- 1:01:39billionaire mindset. And then you know.
- 1:01:44Doesn't give you leave your context.
- 1:01:46You know myself I do believe it a lot in you and my brother also
- 1:01:51appreciates you as well. So he says some places people
- 1:01:55might be laughing at that guy. Right.
- 1:01:56But then he's received this is he's this and he's going to be a
- 1:02:00billionaire in writing your faces.
- 1:02:03But you know you need to conceive it.
- 1:02:06I I have what I like to say a lot conceive, believe, achieve.
- 1:02:10Right. So you've conceived it that you
- 1:02:12believe it's a lot and you know? Achieving it as well and I don't
- 1:02:16know I don't want to put it in house we but I think you're
- 1:02:19probably feeling there naira already because actually that.
- 1:02:27That that was it. Time in.
- 1:02:33In in pounds, right. So yeah, you know, you know
- 1:02:38their mindset. I.
- 1:02:39I like to think that is you know one of your philosophies right
- 1:02:42of life and you know how did you come about billionaire mindset
- 1:02:47and what are your key philosophies you know that drive
- 1:02:52you in life and in peace Ness. OK.
- 1:02:55Well, billionaire mindset came from my earning power.
- 1:03:01I discovered two things about money.
- 1:03:05The people that chose to did well.
- 1:03:12Do you think that that was what their destiny is?
- 1:03:19You know, we we all are architects of our destinies to a
- 1:03:23very large extent. I I discovered that.
- 1:03:28My my father actually taught me this.
- 1:03:30My father is actually my mentor now.
- 1:03:34The higher you go, the cooler. So if you if you want to become
- 1:03:40a billionaire, why do you want to sell a product that you're
- 1:03:45going to see just £2 from? Do you know how many 2 LB
- 1:03:49Profits you have to make? Pay your tax, Feed your family?
- 1:03:53Take care of yourself. Build the business before you
- 1:03:56can become a billionaire. A lot.
- 1:03:58So I I I I discovered two things, #1 Whatever thing I want
- 1:04:02to do, I should do it like a very rich person.
- 1:04:06And #2 whatever thing I want to do, it must be something that
- 1:04:10serves the people that are hungry for success, hungry for
- 1:04:18success. So my healing power gave me that
- 1:04:22my say. That was the time.
- 1:04:25Yeah, we we, we got to time that in a day.
- 1:04:31We make like a million plus every day, every day, every day,
- 1:04:35every day. And I told myself, I said this
- 1:04:39week I've made like 9 million, last week, a midlife 7 million.
- 1:04:44The Coming. Week I I was able to project
- 1:04:47what I was making every week. Now I was like if I continue
- 1:04:52like this if. I continue like this.
- 1:04:56I I know for sure what I I would watch.
- 1:04:59Right. Of course.
- 1:05:01Right. Right.
- 1:05:02And you can protect stickam project and be like OK if if if
- 1:05:09I did not fall below 6,000,000 every week.
- 1:05:13In the months I've risked over 20 million.
- 1:05:19So I. Stuttered.
- 1:05:24Seeing myself as what I am not yet, so the places I go to
- 1:05:31achieve. You need to, you need to put it
- 1:05:35on your social media, right? And tell them it's for me.
- 1:05:38Tell them it's fucking games. I, I, I, you know I I go to
- 1:05:43places that are designed for the rich for the exclusive.
- 1:05:49I joined groups that that well, the groups I started hanging out
- 1:05:55with welder people. I dress extremely well.
- 1:06:00My suit that all you know bespoke.
- 1:06:03I don't buy ready made suit bespoke suits.
- 1:06:06They fly them in from Lagos, not through God is good or one boss.
- 1:06:11My suit is ready, they send it via flight and I pay 90 key for
- 1:06:16the logistic bringing it into Abuja.
- 1:06:20So you know just that our lifestyle here close.
- 1:06:25My education does not allow this thing, but I am going to resume
- 1:06:30that very soon even though none of my suit fits me anymore
- 1:06:33because I've had it weight of course so.
- 1:06:36But I I intend resuming our lifestyle again.
- 1:06:40I started this thing that yeah, what's his name does Gary Vee.
- 1:06:47I go out, they they make my videos.
- 1:06:50Everywhere I go to, they recorded.
- 1:06:53I talk to people. I visit some of my high paying
- 1:06:56clients. I talked to them on cameras, you
- 1:06:59know and all. So all of these things helped me
- 1:07:04a whole lot because you know, when people see me with some
- 1:07:06calibres of people, they're like, whoa, I know this woman.
- 1:07:10So this guy is doing something for this woman.
- 1:07:14Ah, I must do something with this guy too.
- 1:07:18Interested in your? Association gets it wrong for
- 1:07:23clients that I don't post on social media because the other
- 1:07:28day or Big Cubana. One of his closest part is my
- 1:07:33client. We thought if I post something
- 1:07:36we comment on it on status. You know, I, I, I have this kind
- 1:07:40of people and I'll be like that was the time I posted my on my
- 1:07:43birthday picture and someone was like, do you know this person?
- 1:07:48I said, oh he's my client. He said they lie asking and that
- 1:07:54same day he came back he said whoa, now we need to work.
- 1:08:00So you you are using it to play Before when you came to make
- 1:08:03enquiry I saved my number, so why is it that people tend to?
- 1:08:06Doubt people especially. People who come from, no, it's
- 1:08:12not doubt that is why the power of networking is important.
- 1:08:16There's some people that has gotten customers because they
- 1:08:19are associated with me. That's that's social networking.
- 1:08:23When you be like, OK, this person's value is rubbing off on
- 1:08:26this person. There are some.
- 1:08:29People that has held you in high esteem.
- 1:08:31Now if someone is talking and the person mentions your name,
- 1:08:36they may not even let the person know that they know you.
- 1:08:38They were like news release paper knows Mr Dimola.
- 1:08:44Really. Are they really?
- 1:08:45She's talking. Since they are kind of close,
- 1:08:47they'll bring her closer just because they're like we have mad
- 1:08:51respect for Mr Ademola. Before that, one more question
- 1:08:56left for you, right? So we've spoken about
- 1:08:58billionaire mindset, right? That is, your philosophy is the
- 1:09:04just the key ones that you think have actually, like, helped you
- 1:09:06in life. And business what, what, what
- 1:09:10key philosophy would you say has actually like been a backbone
- 1:09:14for your success? Number one, integrity and #2
- 1:09:18don't be normal. Normal is boring.
- 1:09:22Norma is boring. I used to tell people something.
- 1:09:26It's not that I'm just learning how to speak English, much more
- 1:09:29I've I've not even perfected my English and.
- 1:09:34What I control? The person that speaks the best
- 1:09:39English in Nigeria cannot dream of getting it.
- 1:09:44Yeah, yeah. It's not about your spoken
- 1:09:49English or how your your the school you've attended or no,
- 1:09:55don't be normal. You want something.
- 1:09:58Be like a beast. Be like the matador.
- 1:10:01You should be unstoppable. Be mad for that thing.
- 1:10:05Be extremely obsessed with what you're trying to achieve, he
- 1:10:10said. This podcast thing you're doing
- 1:10:12right now, if you are extremely obsessed with it and you are
- 1:10:18gunning for knowledge everyday as you're pushing, in two years
- 1:10:24time, in four years time people will be talking about you and
- 1:10:30me, Mr Fix. I'll be listening and be like I
- 1:10:32know we didn't really talk again.
- 1:10:33Mark the words of Mr. Fixer on The Verge news podcast.
- 1:10:39Lack the words of Mr Fixer, Mr said.
- 1:10:43He here So so it's it's about, you know integrity #1 that's
- 1:10:49really helped me. It's been how many years?
- 1:10:5128910 Eleven 1213141516 Sorry 2017 18/19/2020 2:23 six years?
- 1:11:00In my 6 years of of running my business, I've not had a single
- 1:11:05case of and he's come to me. He ducked me.
- 1:11:10He dissed me this that. Integrity.
- 1:11:14My yes is my yes, my no is my no.
- 1:11:17If I flopped I'll apologise. If I delay our apologise I under
- 1:11:21promise I over deliver and that kind of person.
- 1:11:24I don't over promise people. And that in itself is is not
- 1:11:29really good because some people want you to say everything else
- 1:11:34sweet talk then convince them so that they will pay you.
- 1:11:37But I'm not that kind of person. I'll tell you this.
- 1:11:39How is this how it is? Let's do it this way.
- 1:11:42That way, and if you choose to work with at the end of the day
- 1:11:45you will be less mesmerised. Thank you for helping me so and
- 1:11:52also another thing that I have that I've always been following
- 1:11:57is if you provide something people need, if you are able to
- 1:12:03get or bring to the table what people need, people would get it
- 1:12:08from you. Hmm.
- 1:12:10Do you get what I'm trying to see?
- 1:12:12If you're able to provide Speaks to what?
- 1:12:15What? What I I said earlier when we're
- 1:12:17speaking like you don't sell what you want to sell, you sell
- 1:12:21what? What?
- 1:12:22What the market wants you to, you know, So if you're able to
- 1:12:26bring to the table what people want from you, you will
- 1:12:30definitely sell. So that's it.
- 1:12:33Interesting. So our last.
- 1:12:35Question to you is what this is. This is not really a question,
- 1:12:39but let let's just put it right. It's on the script.
- 1:12:42So what's your advice to the younger generation?
- 1:12:46The problem coming, You know people who are.
- 1:12:50Looking up to you. And when I say looking.
- 1:12:54Out to myself as well, like looking up to us, right?
- 1:12:57You know, to very large extent they want to be successful.
- 1:13:02They they want to become something in life, but then they
- 1:13:06need that, you know that ginger. They need that inspiration, they
- 1:13:09need hope, right? So what would be your advice to
- 1:13:12people who are up and coming? Well.
- 1:13:18People need to understand that there is no overnight success
- 1:13:24and also people need. To learn proper patience.
- 1:13:29A lot of people are not patient. The social media has given the
- 1:13:37wrong perception of what success truly means.
- 1:13:40And then you see the good, they see all the good stuff out there
- 1:13:46and they assume, OK, once you do this, money will come.
- 1:13:52You know, some say drop shipping, I'll make millions.
- 1:13:56It's a lie. Anything that?
- 1:13:59Will give you success, will take time and I'm talking about two
- 1:14:053-4 years, you know, time frame. So my advice is people should
- 1:14:11learn how to be more patient. People should also learn how to
- 1:14:15serve. If you cannot serve on that
- 1:14:19someone without expecting anything, don't expect that you
- 1:14:24will grow and someone will also serve you.
- 1:14:27If you don't serve someone, nobody will serve you leaders.
- 1:14:32Are actually good servants, right?
- 1:14:36So that is my advice for say, and so just to round it up,
- 1:14:42people should also learn how to plan long term.
- 1:14:49Study Research has even shown that when you plan long term,
- 1:14:53you tend to achieve your goal earlier or sooner compared to
- 1:14:58when you're just planning for the next day.
- 1:15:01I should succeed. One to two years is short term,
- 1:15:06mid term is five years, long term is starting from 10 years.
- 1:15:12So if we plan something that will this company in 10 years,
- 1:15:17we should be able to get to XYZ. You can achieve that thing in
- 1:15:22four years. Should be cold, so people should
- 1:15:26learn how to plant long term. Thank you very much.
- 1:15:29Interesting. Thank you very much for your
- 1:15:31time. And we have a tradition on the
- 1:15:34port right where whereby the guests, the current guest leaves
- 1:15:40a question for the next guest, right.
- 1:15:43So what would your question be to the next person who is going
- 1:15:48to come on board? So I'm going to take that down.
- 1:15:50So we'll ask that our next person.
- 1:15:53So what question? Any question on your mind?
- 1:15:56To just give the person to answer.
- 1:16:01They're given the power to lead. How will you change the world
- 1:16:05around you if? You are given the power to lead.
- 1:16:11How do you change how we change the world around you?
- 1:16:16Well said by Mr Fixer. Thank you very much for your
- 1:16:19time. We appreciate you and of course
