Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Yo, what it do? We're back again. The Grounded Show,
- 0:03Speaker 1: episode 156. Yeah, man. Hey, man. We getting up there, dog.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Getting up there. Yo, before we got on and turned
- 0:14Speaker 1: the mics on, AJ showed us the video of the.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Oh, homie, who bought the.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but he caught the home run ball at the
- 0:22Speaker 1: Dodgers game, and he ain't give it to the little kid.
- 0:25Speaker 1: And they panned to the little kid looking all sad,
- 0:27Speaker 1: but the kid looked like he might have been maybe
- 0:29Speaker 1: two or something like that. Oh, yeah, he was young. And,
- 0:32Speaker 1: like you pointed out, you're a Braves fan.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:35Speaker 1: It's a Dodgers home run.
- 0:37Speaker 3: If I was in that position, I don't know if
- 0:41Speaker 3: I can give a Mets ball to... the team we're playing,
- 0:47Speaker 3: a fan of the team we're playing in the playoffs
- 0:50Speaker 3: to get to the World Series.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I just don't know if I could do that.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Yeah, that... I guess it was posted like, man,
- 0:58Speaker 1: this guy didn't give the ball to the little kid.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But it's like, why would he give the ball to
- 1:02Speaker 1: the little kid? This guy probably been to MAG games...
- 1:06Speaker 1: This is probably like a highlight moment in his life.
- 1:08Speaker 1: That kid is literally not even going to remember that, bro.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Like, you think that kid's really going to do something
- 1:11Speaker 3: with the ball? You know, his parents are going to
- 1:13Speaker 3: do something with him. The kid's not going to remember, bro.
- 1:14Speaker 1: It don't even matter because whenever that kid turns four
- 1:17Speaker 1: or five, they're going to be like, remember when you
- 1:19Speaker 1: got the ball from me? He's going to be like, no,
- 1:20Speaker 1: I don't remember at all.
- 1:21Speaker 3: He's going to be in seventh grade talking about, oh,
- 1:23Speaker 3: my parents said I went viral on the internet because
- 1:26Speaker 3: this guy didn't give me the ball, but I don't
- 1:27Speaker 3: remember nothing about it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: No, facts. It's not even going to be a blip
- 1:31Speaker 1: in his story, man. Hey, shout out to that guy, man.
- 1:34Speaker 1: He ain't succumb to the peer pressure to give it
- 1:38Speaker 1: to the kid, dog.
- 1:39Speaker 2: He said, not this one, buddy.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Not this one, champ. You're going to learn about real
- 1:42Speaker 1: life today. Hey, but speaking about learning about real life, dog,
- 1:47Speaker 1: something that I've learned on this podcast, and it's funny
- 1:51Speaker 1: because I mentioned it to you after we finished. I
- 1:54Speaker 1: was like, bro, anytime you mention the name Eminem, dog. Oh, man.
- 2:00Speaker 1: The standard nights come out of the woodwork, bro, and
- 2:02Speaker 1: you're cooked. And I told you, right when we finished
- 2:06Speaker 1: recording last week, I was like, bro, I know I
- 2:10Speaker 1: mentioned Eminem, bro, so you know they're going to come
- 2:12Speaker 1: for me. And that's exactly what happened, bro.
- 2:15Speaker 3: You think that demographic is bigger than Drake and Kendrick fans?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Man, that's a good question.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Because we have talked about them more than Eminem, and
- 2:25Speaker 3: we get some engagement, but nothing like that.
- 2:27Speaker 1: No, that is... I mean, he's the biggest selling artist
- 2:31Speaker 1: for a reason. You know what I mean? He's the
- 2:33Speaker 1: biggest selling rapper by far, so it definitely has to
- 2:36Speaker 1: be something that he has cast a wider net. You
- 2:41Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? It's just funny, bro, because Chris
- 2:45Speaker 1: Rock was on The Breakfast Club this week, and he
- 2:48Speaker 1: was not clear enough, but they just asked him about
- 2:51Speaker 1: a comment he made about not paying for somebody that
- 2:54Speaker 1: went to jail, paying for lawyers and stuff. When he
- 2:58Speaker 1: explained it, it wasn't like it was framed. And he's like, yeah,
- 3:01Speaker 1: because the internet is not a place for nuance. And
- 3:06Speaker 1: that was very timely, bro, because the craziest thing about
- 3:10Speaker 1: that clip was literally all I said was Eminem is
- 3:15Speaker 1: like the face of a certain kind of rap.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 1: But I never said that's all Eminem does. I never
- 3:22Speaker 1: said Eminem's whack. Yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I never talked about his whole entire career.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I never said that he was a lyrical miracle type rapper.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Never said that. I just said most of the time
- 3:34Speaker 1: when you see a clip on the internet of a
- 3:36Speaker 1: rapper that is doing a bad impersonation of a lyrical
- 3:40Speaker 1: miracle rapper, because the ones I'm talking about is the
- 3:43Speaker 1: whack ones. If you're not whack, this got nothing to
- 3:46Speaker 1: do with you. It doesn't fall in that category. But
- 3:49Speaker 1: when you see a whack rapper that's trying to be lyrical,
- 3:52Speaker 1: you'd be like, oh, this guy thinks he's Eminem. That's
- 3:55Speaker 1: what you're going to say because in your mind, Eminem
- 3:58Speaker 1: is the lyrical rapper.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I do that many times.
- 4:00Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? You're not going to say, oh,
- 4:02Speaker 1: this guy thinks he's Drake if he's doing like rapping, rapping.
- 4:06Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? You're going to say this
- 4:07Speaker 1: guy thinks he's Eminem.
- 4:09Speaker 2: That's the first artist to compare that kind of rap to.
- 4:13Speaker 1: That's literally all that was said. Nothing about Eminem, bruh.
- 4:16Speaker 1: You would have thought I said Eminem is the worst
- 4:20Speaker 1: rapper of all time, the.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Way he was talking about it. They bringing up Rakim.
- 4:23Speaker 2: They bringing up, like, all this.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yo, and then it's funny because I'm glad you mentioned
- 4:27Speaker 1: that because I was actually going to bring it up
- 4:29Speaker 1: and I forgot. They're mentioning rappers that never were just
- 4:34Speaker 1: about Lyrical Miracle. Like, you talking about Rakim where one
- 4:38Speaker 1: of his biggest songs is him just talking about, like,
- 4:41Speaker 1: what's going on in his mind, like in a normal
- 4:44Speaker 1: day in his neighborhood. Like that's not lyrical miracle. You
- 4:48Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? People was mentioning like Styles P,
- 4:51Speaker 1: Lloyd Banks, people like that, bro. If you're listening to
- 4:54Speaker 1: those rappers and thinking they not talking about nothing, you
- 4:57Speaker 1: really don't know what you're talking about. Styles P was never,
- 5:01Speaker 1: Styles P has never been just, I'm just going to
- 5:04Speaker 1: out rap you. Yes. He would say that, that he's
- 5:08Speaker 1: a rappity rappin, rapper you know i'm saying but styles
- 5:14Speaker 1: p's putting his real life stuff in the raps and
- 5:17Speaker 1: that's what you're listening to it for you know what
- 5:20Speaker 1: i'm saying you would not be listening to styles p
- 5:22Speaker 1: the way you do he's not the face of that
- 5:24Speaker 1: wasn't doing it in a in a poetic kind of
- 5:27Speaker 1: way that it was hitting you different same with jada
- 5:30Speaker 1: kiss bro yeah jada kiss when you listen to jada.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Like one bar out of 32.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah like people be like oh um Jadakiss ain't talking
- 5:39Speaker 1: about nothing like, bro, then you're not listening, bro. You
- 5:42Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? People that would argue back in
- 5:44Speaker 1: the day, like, yeah, I just don't like Jadakiss because
- 5:47Speaker 1: he's just rapping. And it's like, bro, but he's saying
- 5:50Speaker 1: some shit. You know what I mean? That's not the
- 5:53Speaker 1: people we talking about. You know what I'm saying?
- 5:56Speaker 3: And I love how you gave it that clear label.
- 6:00Speaker 3: They listed a bunch of rappers who did that, but
- 6:03Speaker 3: they're not the face of doing that kind of rap.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly.
- 6:07Speaker 2: It's Eminem.
- 6:08Speaker 1: It's the difference between saying, yo, I think this person
- 6:11Speaker 1: is whack and does this, than saying, yo, this person
- 6:13Speaker 1: is known for this. You know what I'm saying? Same
- 6:15Speaker 1: thing with like, if you heard somebody trying to do
- 6:18Speaker 1: like that sad boy emo type rap, you would be like, oh,
- 6:21Speaker 1: he trying to sound like Playboi Carti.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:23Speaker 1: You're not saying it's whack. You're just saying he's the
- 6:26Speaker 1: face of that sound. That's who you're going to associate
- 6:28Speaker 1: with it.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 1: If a rapper's doing his singing thing, oh, he's trying
- 6:31Speaker 1: to be Drake.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? I'm not saying Drake is whack.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I'm just saying people try to emulate that style.
- 6:37Speaker 3: You went on YouTube and went Drake-type beat, Playboi Carti-type beat.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And the funny thing is people just can't even catch
- 6:44Speaker 1: the nuance of the conversation. Shout out to the ones
- 6:46Speaker 1: that did because there was also a good amount of
- 6:49Speaker 1: people on there that felt where we was coming from
- 6:51Speaker 1: in the convo and added to it, agreed with things
- 6:54Speaker 1: we said. You know what I'm saying? It definitely was like,
- 6:58Speaker 1: both sides of it.
- 6:59Speaker 3: They understood the context that we were talking about. Some
- 7:01Speaker 3: people just react off whatever they think the subject line
- 7:04Speaker 3: is and not the actual content.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And it's people literally, you know, catching a line or
- 7:08Speaker 1: two in the video, not even giving the, you know,
- 7:12Speaker 1: less than a minute video the time to actually listen
- 7:14Speaker 1: to the whole thing and then go off comments in
- 7:17Speaker 1: these long paragraphs, like trying to like overanalyze something that's
- 7:22Speaker 1: literally just a preference in a style of rap that
- 7:26Speaker 1: you like to listen to, bro. Like, For you to
- 7:28Speaker 1: take it to like this super think piece kind of degree.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And they're all assumptions too because they really- They're all assumptions.
- 7:35Speaker 1: They're all assumptions. That's the funniest part. Nobody said Eminem
- 7:38Speaker 1: was whack nothing. Nobody said that. Like, come on, bro.
- 7:41Speaker 1: What are we talking about? But it was funny though, man.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I always enjoy seeing stuff like that because I'm the
- 7:49Speaker 1: type of person, bro. My favorite rapper is Nas, bro. Like,
- 7:52Speaker 1: hands down.
- 7:53Speaker 2: And they say you don't know hip hop.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And the funny part is- People people have a lot
- 7:59Speaker 1: to say about Nas, especially like I feel like he's
- 8:03Speaker 1: like one of the most like controversial goat pics. Like
- 8:08Speaker 1: people call him the goat. But like a lot of
- 8:12Speaker 1: people will give you pushback on Nas. Like they'll include him.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But a lot of people don't straight up.
- 8:16Speaker 3: They start categorizing reasons for someone should be a goat.
- 8:21Speaker 2: They do that to Nas, but there's certain people that
- 8:22Speaker 2: won't do that.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly. They'll be like, Nas is dope, but not
- 8:28Speaker 1: all the beats or the song.
- 8:30Speaker 2: That's the biggest thing. He never picked really good beats.
- 8:33Speaker 1: And me being a big Nas fan, bro, I've never
- 8:38Speaker 1: seen a post where somebody talks about Nas negatively. And
- 8:42Speaker 1: I just even feel like moved to even respond. Like.
- 8:46Speaker 1: If Nas don't hit you the way he hits me,
- 8:49Speaker 1: I just feel bad for you.
- 8:51Speaker 2: There's nothing to say.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I wish you was listening to what he's saying and
- 8:57Speaker 1: understanding it this way because the dude.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Is going off.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I was a Nas fan up until Ether. I switched sides.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I don't know why. But I'll never downplay Nas.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I just don't listen to Nas anymore like people.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Perfect example. I don't listen to Nas like how you listen.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Exactly. And that's fine. Exactly.
- 9:18Speaker 2: But I never downplay him for that.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Exactly. And I'm okay with that. And if you came
- 9:22Speaker 1: in here and said, Nas ain't even top 20 for you,
- 9:26Speaker 1: I wouldn't even care, bro. We will have the little
- 9:29Speaker 1: discussion or whatever and then just keep it pushing. Like,
- 9:32Speaker 1: it ain't even that deep. Like, I think that's my
- 9:34Speaker 1: favorite part about the internet stuff and people getting so
- 9:38Speaker 1: worked up online because it really just tells me, like, Like, Dan, like,
- 9:43Speaker 1: something going on with you, bro. I hope you forget
- 9:46Speaker 1: the help you need because you lashing out online, bro. Like,
- 9:49Speaker 1: this is bad, bro. I hope you find some happiness
- 9:53Speaker 1: in the arms of Eminem, bro. All you Eminem fans, dawg,
- 9:57Speaker 1: just throw on the greatest hits. Throw on a curtain call.
- 9:59Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Stand for sure. Yo, stand
- 10:03Speaker 1: for sure, dawg. Go on that stand so you can
- 10:06Speaker 1: really soak in the pain that this comment caused you
- 10:11Speaker 1: as an Eminem fan.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Your biggest fan, Hubert.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Your biggest fan, Hubert.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yo.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yo. oh where you got that from from the from
- 10:19Speaker 1: the little videos of the nerdy guy like the streaming
- 10:22Speaker 1: fan hubert guy he's.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Like what if you what if his name wasn't stan
- 10:27Speaker 3: like how would that song go he's like your biggest
- 10:29Speaker 3: fan hubert hubert.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Bruh and that's exactly what everybody that um was talking
- 10:35Speaker 1: crazy on that post looked like their name was hubert
- 10:38Speaker 1: that that's that's a perfect way to end that segment
- 10:41Speaker 1: bro but um Let me pull out my trusty, dusty notes, dog,
- 10:45Speaker 1: because I wrote down my stuff here. Oh, yeah, man.
- 10:50Speaker 1: We got the Eminem talk out. Check that off. I
- 10:55Speaker 1: wanted to shout out AEW, man. They're like the competition,
- 10:58Speaker 1: the WWE wrestling company. Recently, like a couple weeks ago,
- 11:05Speaker 1: not by now, a wrestler passed away. He had a
- 11:09Speaker 1: pay-per-view match one night. Next day, they came out and
- 11:15Speaker 1: said he passed. It was crazy. People had just seen
- 11:18Speaker 1: him perfectly fine, best of his ability, top of his
- 11:23Speaker 1: physical prime. And then all of a sudden, yo, he
- 11:27Speaker 1: passed away. They just found him in his car outside
- 11:30Speaker 1: of a restaurant. They don't know exactly what happened yet.
- 11:34Speaker 1: But that don't even matter, brother. The real thing is, man,
- 11:38Speaker 1: rest in peace. His name was Pac. Ben Satterly was
- 11:42Speaker 1: his real name in WWE he went by Neville super
- 11:46Speaker 1: dope super dope wrestler if you get a minute to
- 11:50Speaker 1: just even look up like a little highlight reel of
- 11:52Speaker 1: him he was super dope like even if you're not
- 11:54Speaker 1: a wrestling fan it's somebody that you would be impressed
- 11:56Speaker 1: by the stuff he do you know what I'm saying yeah.
- 11:58Speaker 2: His finisher was great yeah yeah that was his finisher.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It was the finisher in WWE he was called the
- 12:03Speaker 1: Red Arrow and I believe in AEW it was the
- 12:05Speaker 1: Black Arrow he just changed the name of it but
- 12:08Speaker 1: man he was Super talented, man. He was 40 years old, bro. Like,
- 12:12Speaker 1: he's a young man, bro. You know what I'm saying?
- 12:14Speaker 1: That's always tough. And I've mentioned it on this show
- 12:19Speaker 1: how I'm not a big AEW fan. The style is
- 12:22Speaker 1: not really for me. But they definitely earned me as
- 12:25Speaker 1: a fan with the tribute show they did for him
- 12:29Speaker 1: when he passed, man. Were you watching it during the show?
- 12:31Speaker 2: You saw the clip.
- 12:32Speaker 1: No, I actually watched it live. I tuned in once
- 12:33Speaker 1: I knew what it was going to be because it
- 12:35Speaker 1: was on HBO Max. You can watch it on HBO
- 12:37Speaker 1: Max on Wednesdays. Um, so I just, um, put it on.
- 12:41Speaker 1: They did something dope in the beginning where they acknowledged
- 12:44Speaker 1: his career outside of their company, which was, and by name,
- 12:47Speaker 1: which is something that WWE never does. They always like
- 12:51Speaker 1: act like you weren't doing anything before you got there
- 12:54Speaker 1: after like they kind of treat it all like it's
- 12:56Speaker 1: like cross-branding. Exactly. So it was refreshing seeing them give
- 12:59Speaker 1: him his props as Neville in WWE and his accomplishments
- 13:03Speaker 1: in WWE. Um, You can tell by how all the
- 13:07Speaker 1: wrestlers reacted that he was really loved. You know what
- 13:10Speaker 1: I mean? Like, that was another thing that I noticed. Like, man,
- 13:12Speaker 1: he was a beloved guy, bro. And they had just lost, like,
- 13:18Speaker 1: another wrestler, like, the week before. And they had a
- 13:21Speaker 1: video of him crying like crazy just the week before
- 13:25Speaker 1: about losing his boy. And then he passes a week later, bro.
- 13:29Speaker 1: It was super. it definitely been a rough couple of
- 13:32Speaker 1: weeks if you're a AEW fan, cause that's.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Definitely some type Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:38Speaker 1: A lot of people were comparing it to that just
- 13:39Speaker 1: as far as like the impact they had and, and
- 13:42Speaker 1: you know, what kind of guys they were.
- 13:43Speaker 2: They were good friends. One death affected the other.
- 13:47Speaker 1: People have been talking about that, man. People have been
- 13:49Speaker 1: talking about that. It's definitely, that was a good pickup
- 13:51Speaker 1: by you. Cause that's definitely been like, kind of like
- 13:53Speaker 1: the feeling in the air of, of something like that happening. And, um,
- 13:59Speaker 1: Another thing that they did was they were advertising the
- 14:01Speaker 1: whole night and all the wrestlers wore this shirt. And
- 14:04Speaker 1: they said it during the broadcast multiple times, yo, this shirt,
- 14:06Speaker 1: 100% of our proceeds is going to his family. To
- 14:09Speaker 1: his family. So if anybody buys this shirt, his family's
- 14:12Speaker 1: getting all that money.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's big.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So definitely was something that was easy cop for me
- 14:17Speaker 1: if anybody, you know, feel like supporting me. Yeah, man.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Quincy wants to hit a show, man.
- 14:23Speaker 2: To the UCF basketball arena.
- 14:24Speaker 1: He's been to a few. He's been advocating going to
- 14:27Speaker 1: one of them shows because he's enjoyed them. They definitely
- 14:32Speaker 1: earned my trust to spend my money and pull up
- 14:36Speaker 1: with how they handle that, man. Definitely shout out to
- 14:39Speaker 1: AEW and shout out to the fans as well and
- 14:43Speaker 1: the family and friends of Pac. Pac, my bad. He
- 14:49Speaker 1: actually got his name From his dad, because you've seen
- 14:52Speaker 1: how brolic he was. He was brolic from a little kid.
- 14:55Speaker 1: So he was on, I think it was Chris Jericho's podcast.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Him and Sammy Zane did an episode together. And he
- 15:03Speaker 1: mentioned like his dad gave him that nickname because he
- 15:06Speaker 1: just was always brolic from little. So it's like six pack.
- 15:10Speaker 1: That's where it comes from.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah, because he was huge, but he was agile. Hey, yo.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Hey, yo. He had that big agility. I'm about to
- 15:17Speaker 1: use that nickname. The big agile.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Um but yeah dog um another thing that i wanted
- 15:25Speaker 1: to talk about that came up super random but like
- 15:30Speaker 1: i wonder if like anybody else is gonna feel where
- 15:34Speaker 1: i'm coming from on this but like have you ever
- 15:37Speaker 1: kind of felt like you're like in any situation where
- 15:40Speaker 1: you're kind of like an in-betweener and what i mean
- 15:42Speaker 1: by that is like you don't necessarily like all fit
- 15:47Speaker 1: In the situation you're in, you kind of half fit
- 15:49Speaker 1: in another situation.
- 15:50Speaker 2: As far as like what?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Just in general. Like for me, bro.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Like friendships?
- 15:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Like I'll be like in a group of people
- 15:58Speaker 1: and like I feel like I'm like half locked in.
- 16:03Speaker 1: You know what I mean? And then like I'll be
- 16:04Speaker 1: with like another group of people and they're like completely
- 16:06Speaker 1: different than these. And I'm, like, half locked in there.
- 16:10Speaker 1: But I've never, like, I'll observe a group of people
- 16:13Speaker 1: and I see how everybody's just, like, so in the moment,
- 16:16Speaker 1: super locked in on what's going on. And then, like,
- 16:19Speaker 1: there's certain situations where I'm, like, on the outside of that.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? So I was just wondering
- 16:24Speaker 1: if anybody ever had that where, like, they kind of, like,
- 16:28Speaker 1: don't 100% fit in in certain places. You know what
- 16:30Speaker 1: I mean? And it's something you even mentioned, like, and
- 16:34Speaker 1: I've heard from a lot of people, bro, like, they'd
- 16:36Speaker 1: be like, yo, you got some weird friends, bro. And
- 16:39Speaker 1: I'd always be like, I don't know, you know what
- 16:42Speaker 1: I'm saying? But the thing that I always say is like,
- 16:44Speaker 1: but they solid, you know what I mean? I got
- 16:46Speaker 1: a couple friends, I'm not going to name them because
- 16:48Speaker 1: they're not weird to me, but I got a couple
- 16:50Speaker 1: friends that people be like, yo, that person's weird, but
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'd be like, yo, I've been friends with this person
- 16:55Speaker 1: for like 15, 20 years and never even had a
- 16:58Speaker 1: weird situation. So what's weird to you is like, cool,
- 17:03Speaker 1: I mean, that's how you feel, that's how you feel,
- 17:05Speaker 1: but to me, He's one of the realest motherfuckers I
- 17:08Speaker 1: ever met in my life. You know what I'm saying?
- 17:11Speaker 1: So I just wanted to kind of put that out
- 17:13Speaker 1: there and get your thoughts on it too, just to
- 17:16Speaker 1: see if anybody else kind of feels that same way
- 17:18Speaker 1: too sometimes.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I think that's it, right? I think it's like.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Personality similarities between you and friends, moral ground similarity between
- 17:31Speaker 3: you and friends, and then introvert, extrovert, I think, to
- 17:37Speaker 3: a level between you and friends. And then that's what,
- 17:41Speaker 3: with every friend I have in my life who I
- 17:42Speaker 3: actually consider a friend that I care about to an
- 17:46Speaker 3: extent where I'll be there for them, I'll do things
- 17:49Speaker 3: for them, I'll hold them down, there's a select few
- 17:52Speaker 3: of those. And there's people like that that I look
- 17:55Speaker 3: about some things I give grace for, right? We can
- 18:00Speaker 3: be the same this way, this way, and completely different
- 18:02Speaker 3: this way. If we're completely different in another way, I
- 18:06Speaker 3: analyze the situation first. And if I can understand it,
- 18:11Speaker 3: I get that grace and say, okay, I can still
- 18:13Speaker 3: be as friends with that person. I just understand we're
- 18:15Speaker 3: completely different situations from that. But if it's just people
- 18:21Speaker 3: who are just completely against everything I believe in, then
- 18:25Speaker 3: I can't do it. But on the other side, you
- 18:28Speaker 3: find yourself being friends with people who are not. almost
- 18:31Speaker 3: anything like you, but you share similarities and you're loyal
- 18:34Speaker 3: at the end of the day. And there's certain things
- 18:37Speaker 3: that matter that you can overlook things.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Yeah. It's even something, me and you, when you were
- 18:42Speaker 1: saying that, it reminded me of one of the events
- 18:44Speaker 1: we had. Me and you was talking about, like, there's
- 18:47Speaker 1: certain stuff that, like, you hear from, like, a homie
- 18:51Speaker 1: or just somebody around you that you're like, oh, I'm
- 18:55Speaker 1: not going to rock with him. Like, that they'll be
- 18:57Speaker 1: like down for certain types of things that you'd be like, Oh,
- 18:59Speaker 1: that lets me know. Like, I'm not locking in with
- 19:02Speaker 1: him like that. You know what I mean? Like there's
- 19:04Speaker 1: even like, like the thing of, uh, you know, people,
- 19:08Speaker 1: people in general that just are just cool with cheating
- 19:12Speaker 1: on their spouses. Like they just, they, they can just
- 19:14Speaker 1: kind of like brush that off.
- 19:16Speaker 2: That's major.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Like if, and I always
- 19:19Speaker 1: think about it that way, like, man, if you willing
- 19:21Speaker 1: to do some slimy stuff to the person that's like
- 19:24Speaker 1: most important to you, bruh, You will dog me out
- 19:28Speaker 1: in a second, bro. You will dog me out right away. So, like,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I always notice stuff like that. And that's why we
- 19:37Speaker 1: were talking about it, actually. Shout out to the group chat, bro. Like,
- 19:41Speaker 1: the group chat we got, like, that's one of the
- 19:43Speaker 1: things that's super dope. Like, everybody in there, if if
- 19:47Speaker 1: there's anything going on like that that we're all trying
- 19:51Speaker 1: to put together you know it's just a good time
- 19:55Speaker 1: with no bs no strings attached nothing like it's.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Just straight up it's easy nothing's uh forced.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Nothing's forced nobody's on no bull Like, you're not going
- 20:06Speaker 1: to get anybody in there, like, to suggest some stuff
- 20:09Speaker 1: that you're going to be like, okay, bro. Everybody knows
- 20:12Speaker 1: how to read the room because we all in lockstep with, like,
- 20:15Speaker 1: certain things. You know what I mean?
- 20:17Speaker 2: Like I said, just effortless is that kind of friendship.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:21Speaker 2: And the dynamic it has.
- 20:22Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, bro, I got a friend
- 20:26Speaker 1: that I was talking to recently that was having, like,
- 20:29Speaker 1: some moments of, like, self-doubt. because he was feeling left
- 20:34Speaker 1: out of like a circle that he wanted to be
- 20:39Speaker 1: a part of. You know what I'm saying? And, um,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I was like, bro, like, do you see like what
- 20:46Speaker 1: you got going on? Like, look, look, look at yourself
- 20:50Speaker 1: just from the outside looking in what you got going
- 20:53Speaker 1: on slash what you've accomplished and the circle that you're
- 20:57Speaker 1: trying to infiltrate, what they're, what they're on and what
- 20:59Speaker 1: they've accomplished. Why are you even trying so hard to
- 21:03Speaker 1: get into that circle? You know what I'm saying? When
- 21:07Speaker 1: I look at this person, I'm like, bro, you're doing
- 21:09Speaker 1: the stuff you need to be doing. You've found the successes.
- 21:14Speaker 1: He's hit all the successes for his age that everybody
- 21:18Speaker 1: would say. Car paid off.
- 21:21Speaker 2: House.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Owns property. Bought at a good time. Way before the
- 21:26Speaker 1: prices went up. You know what I mean? Somebody that's
- 21:29Speaker 1: doing their thing. And, like, you don't even need to
- 21:36Speaker 1: be in that circle because they're not even aligned with
- 21:39Speaker 1: what you want. They're going to drain you, if anything.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? And I'm always kind of
- 21:46Speaker 1: fascinated by, like, certain things that I see people put
- 21:49Speaker 1: their energy in that you know is not, like, feeding them.
- 21:54Speaker 1: But you're like, damn, bro, like, you're really just dedicated to, like,
- 21:57Speaker 1: putting your energy this way.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Some people just can't let that stuff go.
- 22:02Speaker 1: And that's exactly it.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I remember a rapping competition on Netflix with Cardi B
- 22:11Speaker 3: and Chance the Rapper and Snoop.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I know who you're talking about.
- 22:14Speaker 3: And then Snoop to that one dude who was from.
- 22:22Speaker 2: D Smoke.
- 22:23Speaker 1: D Smoke, there we go.
- 22:24Speaker 3: And then Snoop's like, where you from? And I forgot
- 22:27Speaker 3: a response, but he kept saying the same thing.
- 22:30Speaker 2: He's like, no, where you from?
- 22:32Speaker 3: And he repeated his answer. And then Snoop lifted up
- 22:35Speaker 3: his eyeglasses. And he's like, that was a test. Like,
- 22:38Speaker 3: I was trying to see if I could pull you
- 22:39Speaker 3: back in to that kind of stuff. That people are
- 22:43Speaker 3: so weak to, like, give up that life. And Snoop
- 22:48Speaker 3: was questioning to see if he would respond in that way.
- 22:50Speaker 2: And he didn't. And he's like, that's how I know
- 22:51Speaker 2: you're going somewhere. Now, facts.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And that's a funny thing, too, man. Because that really, like,
- 22:57Speaker 1: hits the nail on the head of, like, part. Part
- 23:01Speaker 1: of what I'm saying, really, bro, is, like, sometimes, like,
- 23:04Speaker 1: you come from a certain upbringing or, like, from a
- 23:07Speaker 1: certain group of people and you feel like you got to, like,
- 23:10Speaker 1: win with them. Or, like, you got to, like, you
- 23:13Speaker 1: got to make moves within that group.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you got something to prove to them.
- 23:17Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? It's like, bro, like, not
- 23:19Speaker 1: everybody's going in the direction you're going. You know what
- 23:22Speaker 1: I'm saying? Not everybody's trying.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I gave up a lot of people like that. When
- 23:24Speaker 2: I felt like I had to prove something to them,
- 23:26Speaker 2: then I realized, oh, I got nothing to prove to those.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Kind of people. Especially people that you can just tell
- 23:30Speaker 1: are not even trying to progress in a certain way.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Also, I felt like it was never doing anything for me.
- 23:36Speaker 3: It was always doing something for them. Yeah, that's another
- 23:39Speaker 3: big one, man.
- 23:40Speaker 1: It's not selfish to think about what somebody brings to
- 23:44Speaker 1: your life as well. Because at the end of the day,
- 23:50Speaker 1: friendship is selfless and selfish. Because, yeah, you're going to
- 23:54Speaker 1: be selfless for people, but you're only going to be
- 23:56Speaker 1: selfless for people that are going to fulfill something in you.
- 23:58Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:59Speaker 3: And I still am today.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Whether it's the funny, you know, you like to hang
- 24:05Speaker 1: out with them because they're funny. You like to hang
- 24:06Speaker 1: out with them because they're optimistic. Whatever the reason is,
- 24:09Speaker 1: they're adding something to your life that that's the reason
- 24:12Speaker 1: why you rock with them. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like,
- 24:15Speaker 1: you can't just rock with people just to rock with
- 24:17Speaker 1: them and they're not adding nothing.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 1: If you're not even laughing when you're around this motherfucker, like,
- 24:22Speaker 1: what you doing, bro?
- 24:23Speaker 3: And it's also the people that rock with you, truly.
- 24:26Speaker 3: And it's funny, I had that conversation with one of
- 24:28Speaker 3: my boys. And before I got married, and I know
- 24:33Speaker 3: we joke. I don't mind saying it. I'm an asshole,
- 24:37Speaker 3: you know, in the chat. But I was, like, truly
- 24:40Speaker 3: a legit asshole for a good period of my life
- 24:44Speaker 3: just because of the situations I was going in. And
- 24:47Speaker 3: after I met my wife and I got married, I
- 24:49Speaker 3: became a different person. And these people still rock with me.
- 24:53Speaker 3: And not because I'm less of an asshole, because they
- 24:55Speaker 3: should have left me back then. But then we talk
- 24:58Speaker 3: about it and it's like, yeah, you know, we kind
- 25:00Speaker 3: of miss that guy sometimes.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I'm not him no more.
- 25:02Speaker 3: But that's why, like, I can evolve and become a
- 25:07Speaker 3: different character to a different person. And they accept that
- 25:09Speaker 3: and they still roll with me. Those are the kind
- 25:12Speaker 3: of people that are important.
- 25:13Speaker 2: In your life.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Yeah, man. And another thing, bro, like, when you're around
- 25:18Speaker 1: people that have, like, not just things that are, like,
- 25:22Speaker 1: your opinion of, like, they should be more like this
- 25:25Speaker 1: or they should be more like that. I'm not talking
- 25:27Speaker 1: about stuff like that, but, like, when you see, like,
- 25:29Speaker 1: clear things, like, substance issues, you know, we talked about
- 25:34Speaker 1: it a little earlier, infidelity.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Yeah, let's say moral issues is the biggest thing.
- 25:38Speaker 1: If you're seeing glaring moral things, bro, like, And you
- 25:41Speaker 1: see that they're not trying to address it, that'll bring
- 25:43Speaker 1: you down. That'll bring you down being around and rocking
- 25:46Speaker 1: with people like that, man.
- 25:47Speaker 3: And sometimes you still have to maintain a relationship for
- 25:49Speaker 3: certain reasons with this person, but then you reevaluate it
- 25:53Speaker 3: and you know where to set limits and boundaries with
- 25:55Speaker 3: those type of relationships.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Nah, facts. That's how it is, man. And the friendship
- 26:01Speaker 1: thing's so funny, man, because, like, One of the things
- 26:04Speaker 1: they always say, I don't know if it's true or not,
- 26:06Speaker 1: that your friends kind of change every seven years. And
- 26:10Speaker 1: I definitely believe that from the point of view of
- 26:12Speaker 1: there's definitely certain situations that you get into because of
- 26:17Speaker 1: shared interests and then those things kind of disappear. And
- 26:21Speaker 1: that's kind of where I go back to what I
- 26:23Speaker 1: was saying earlier. If the person ain't solid, once the
- 26:27Speaker 1: other stuff is not there no more, what's left? You
- 26:30Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? Once you strip everything away and
- 26:32Speaker 1: you're just with this person, what is really going on?
- 26:35Speaker 1: What are they really talking about? What is their life like, really?
- 26:39Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? There's so many things that
- 26:41Speaker 1: you can see as far as people's habits and just
- 26:45Speaker 1: the way they respect time, the way they respect other
- 26:50Speaker 1: people's time. A lot of that stuff is like you're...
- 26:54Speaker 1: You see the signs, you know what I mean?
- 26:57Speaker 3: And after over a long period of time, so it's like,
- 26:59Speaker 3: after five years, nah, this person's grimy, or after five years,
- 27:02Speaker 3: this person's solid.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Then you know.
- 27:05Speaker 1: And another thing, too, is don't feel bad if after
- 27:09Speaker 1: years you realize that wasn't it, and you're like, damn,
- 27:12Speaker 1: I'm wasting my time, whatever. It's like, bro, it happens.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Just cut your losses, don't let it drag.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I've cut off plenty of friendships that I thought I
- 27:20Speaker 3: had to maintain forever, and then when I started to
- 27:21Speaker 3: realize I didn't, hey, it's what it is.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Yeah. I was listening to something the other day about, oh,
- 27:29Speaker 1: that was the Bad Friends podcast, and Andrew Santino was
- 27:33Speaker 1: talking about, like, he cut off all the friends that
- 27:36Speaker 1: every time he pulled them up on his phone, it
- 27:39Speaker 1: was just them sending happy birthday texts back and forth. Oh, yes.
- 27:42Speaker 1: It's like, bro, if all we talk about is once
- 27:45Speaker 1: a year, happy birthday, we're not friends, bro, and we
- 27:48Speaker 1: don't need to be tapping in, you know what I'm saying?
- 27:50Speaker 1: And I feel like that's something that people be feeling
- 27:52Speaker 1: bad about, too. Like, they feel like They always have
- 27:55Speaker 1: to maintain presence with people. It's like, you don't, bro.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Live your life. If the person truly is cool with
- 28:03Speaker 1: you and y'all are both on the right mindset, they're
- 28:06Speaker 1: not going to be butthurt about you living your life, bro.
- 28:09Speaker 1: If it doesn't line up now, it just don't line up.
- 28:11Speaker 3: I got plenty of friends who we won't go see
- 28:14Speaker 3: each other for months, but the whole entire time we're
- 28:16Speaker 3: still communicating and making sure it's all love.
- 28:21Speaker 2: We ain't got time to.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Chill and do stuff together, but It's still like little
- 28:25Speaker 3: inside jokes or links on something. It has to be
- 28:29Speaker 3: some form of communication to maintain that kind of aspect.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Like, oh, we cool.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Yeah, facts.
- 28:34Speaker 2: There's nothing to address.
- 28:35Speaker 1: If it's only happy birthday, then keep it moving.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't even respond to happy birthday texts no more.
- 28:41Speaker 1: But yeah, man, tomorrow we got our event. When y'all
- 28:45Speaker 1: hearing this, it'll be today when we got the event.
- 28:48Speaker 1: It's been an insane run of rain. Hopefully it dries
- 28:54Speaker 1: up some. It's been kind of dry at night, so
- 28:56Speaker 1: hopefully we get that luck again.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Y'all don't worry about the rain, y'all.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Come through.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Just pull up either way. And it's going to be like,
- 29:02Speaker 1: you know, long sleeve slash light sweater weather. I might,
- 29:05Speaker 1: you know, might pull up with a turtleneck. You don't
- 29:07Speaker 1: ever know, bro. One of those type of days, you know,
- 29:10Speaker 1: turtlenecks and penny loafers. You heard me. Also, we was
- 29:13Speaker 1: talking about adding that Halloween element to the month event
- 29:18Speaker 1: for the R & B night, man. We'll definitely keep
- 29:21Speaker 1: y'all posted and we'll post something as well. about it,
- 29:25Speaker 1: but definitely want to do something dope, especially since we
- 29:28Speaker 1: got the holidays coming up and we're not going to
- 29:31Speaker 1: be doing the, you know, obviously we're not doing an
- 29:33Speaker 1: event on Christmas and Thanksgiving. So, you know, we'll figure
- 29:39Speaker 1: out what we're doing for that as well. But definitely
- 29:42Speaker 1: stay tapped in. Appreciate everybody that's been following. Hey, man,
- 29:44Speaker 1: we appreciate even all the people that was, you know,
- 29:49Speaker 1: belittling us in the comments. I don't mind the disagreements, man. Just,
- 29:53Speaker 1: you know, keep it civil. That's all I ask. Keep
- 29:56Speaker 1: it about the subject. If you don't want to keep
- 29:58Speaker 1: it civil, cool. You know, I just won't answer you.
- 30:00Speaker 2: It's not a big deal. Keep it about the subject.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Don't make it personal.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, man. Just keep it about Eminem, you heard me.
- 30:06Speaker 1: All right, y'all. Catch y'all next time. Stay. Stay, stay, stay. Butter,
- 30:11Speaker 1: you heard me. Butter.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Thank you.
