- 0:00Speaker 1: It's where you or comes for common sense?
- 0:02Speaker 2: Mark Simone on sevent ten wr Well, Hey, a little
- 0:10Speaker 2: technical difficulty, but we're on everything sounds good. I can
- 0:14Speaker 2: hear myself. We've got a lot to get to this hour. Also,
- 0:17Speaker 2: we have a special guest in the studio. It's IRV. Right,
- 0:22Speaker 2: turned the mic on. Try it again, Hi, it's IRV Goldfarb.
- 0:26Speaker 2: IRV Goldfarb. Now you might be saying, whoserve Goldfarb? Well,
- 0:30Speaker 2: every year we do this big event for charity where
- 0:33Speaker 2: we raise money for what was the world hunger.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Thigh hunger feeding America.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I'm not sure it's Feeding America. And one of the
- 0:39Speaker 2: prizes you can bid, you have to bid a lot
- 0:41Speaker 2: of money, but you can win a visit to the
- 0:44Speaker 2: studio to come sit here and IRV, why do I
- 0:47Speaker 2: seem to know you? You?
- 0:48Speaker 1: I won the same auction in twenty twenty two actually
- 0:52Speaker 1: and spent a fun hour here with you at that time.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Well, I think you're the first auction winner ever to
- 0:56Speaker 2: come back again and do it twice now, But the
- 1:00Speaker 2: last time you did a couple of years ago. Were
- 1:02Speaker 2: we in the other studio?
- 1:03Speaker 1: I got it was impossible to find that, but the
- 1:05Speaker 1: cab driver had no idea what I was talking about.
- 1:07Speaker 1: This one was a lot easier.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, our old studios were in Tribeca. We've left Tribeca.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We're now in midtown Manhattan, right here on fifty fifth
- 1:16Speaker 2: in a big, beautiful skyscraper. Much better here. Did you
- 1:18Speaker 2: get a chance to look around?
- 1:20Speaker 1: I did, Yeah, walked around for some of the studios.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah. We got Charlemagne over in that studio over there,
- 1:25Speaker 2: Elvis Duran down the hall, Jim Kurr that way, and
- 1:28Speaker 2: Irv's going to just sit and is this exciting to
- 1:31Speaker 2: sit and watch this for an hour?
- 1:33Speaker 1: Well, I mean last time I was here, I was
- 1:34Speaker 1: able to participate a little bit.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So yeah. And of course you want to plug anything mentioning,
- 1:38Speaker 2: that's part of the deal. Do you want to I do?
- 1:41Speaker 1: Actually, I actually started writing a blog about a year ago.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Oh no, I was in radio for twenty years and
- 1:48Speaker 1: I worked at ESPN, So, like you, I met a
- 1:50Speaker 1: lot of famous personages and I had some interesting stories.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So I send it to seventy five of my closest
- 1:55Speaker 1: friends and I got good feedback. So now I'm uploading
- 1:58Speaker 1: those blogs onto And where did people go? They can
- 2:01Speaker 1: go to substack. It's called Irvin's substack. Irv I n
- 2:05Speaker 1: bostrophe s Irvin substack. Unfortunately I foun out last night.
- 2:08Speaker 1: There are two Irvin's substack. Mine is earth gold Farb.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You see my name, and you can read stories about
- 2:14Speaker 1: me chauffeuring Bruce Springsteen around back when he was a
- 2:17Speaker 1: human being. I worked for Hardy Weinstein one night. I
- 2:20Speaker 1: had a lot of interesting story ye and people like.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Him not crazy about the name Irvin's.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Well, my name is Irvin, so I just put my
- 2:27Speaker 1: name in. It just popped up as Irvin's substack. So
- 2:29Speaker 1: I just kept like.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Gold Farb stups stack. Gold Farb sounds like something like
- 2:34Speaker 2: a like a German candy bull or something.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I will go back and change it, and so I
- 2:39Speaker 1: won't confuse with the other Irvan. I'll make a gold
- 2:40Speaker 1: farm substack.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Well, as long as it's doing well, that's important. Where'd
- 2:44Speaker 2: you drive Bruce Springsteen.
- 2:45Speaker 1: To a record store in Rochester? I met him at
- 2:48Speaker 1: the pool. He asked if there was a record store around.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I knew there was a record store, he said, and
- 2:52Speaker 1: thank you. I said, you want to ride, Bruce? He said, yeah, Man,
- 2:54Speaker 1: I don't take a ride. Put him in the car,
- 2:56Speaker 1: draw him to the record store. People recognized him after
- 2:58Speaker 1: a while. Chase this down the escal later and we
- 3:01Speaker 1: sat in the car and talked for a while after
- 3:03Speaker 1: it was an unforgettable all.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Right, Well you can read these stories.
- 3:06Speaker 1: On Irvin's substack.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Irvin's Substack. And what did you do with ESPN?
- 3:12Speaker 1: I was mostly I did stats, baseball stats, hockey stats.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I put the graphics up on the scene on the screen,
- 3:18Speaker 1: so very good numbers guy, excellent.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So and paid a lot of money to be our
- 3:24Speaker 2: auction winner. Money goes to charity to feed the hungry.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And again, first time anybody's ever done this twice?
- 3:32Speaker 1: So should I do it again next year? Should I
- 3:34Speaker 1: back off?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want, as long as you keep winning.
- 3:36Speaker 2: We have a high roller audience and they do spend
- 3:40Speaker 2: a lot of money on charity.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I would have thought that with a lot of people
- 3:43Speaker 1: would be into this.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah. So anyway, what IRV will be with us throughout
- 3:47Speaker 2: the hour. We'll get back to IRV and to jump
- 3:51Speaker 2: in if you want. Hey, Rosie o'donald snuck back into
- 3:55Speaker 2: the country. You remember, she's leaving. She's leaving the country,
- 3:58Speaker 2: never going to set foot in the Marria. While Trump
- 4:00Speaker 2: is president. She did sneak back, apparently about two weeks ago,
- 4:04Speaker 2: said she wanted to see her family. She missed her family.
- 4:08Speaker 2: You ever see her family. I don't think anybody want
- 4:10Speaker 2: to see them again. But she did come back, and
- 4:12Speaker 2: she also said being insane, she said she wanted to
- 4:16Speaker 2: make sure it was safe. She wanted to make sure
- 4:19Speaker 2: she could get in and out of America. Now, I
- 4:21Speaker 2: don't know what she's picturing, getting kidnapped, getting arrested Ice agents.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I don't know what she's imagining. But she came and went.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Everything was fine, she saw our kids. Nobody cared. If
- 4:33Speaker 2: you look at her nowadays, nobody would recognize her. You
- 4:35Speaker 2: wouldn't know it was Rosie O'Donnell. She looks absolutely she
- 4:38Speaker 2: looks like Jim Acosta. Now she looks totally different. She
- 4:43Speaker 2: does have Irish citizenship. And you got to remember she
- 4:48Speaker 2: started the feud, this blood feud with Trump back when
- 4:52Speaker 2: she was on the View. She started talking about him
- 4:54Speaker 2: one day and you remember she somehow took her hair
- 4:56Speaker 2: and put it in the shape of Trump's hair, and
- 4:59Speaker 2: she really got ugly, personal ugly, imitating him. And then
- 5:02Speaker 2: he went after and she got worse. You know, these
- 5:04Speaker 2: are like two insult kings going after each other. So
- 5:09Speaker 2: it really got ugly, and she did sneak back into
- 5:13Speaker 2: the country. Now, also Allen who left the country, I
- 5:16Speaker 2: just bought another twenty five million dollar mansion in Santa Barbara,
- 5:20Speaker 2: indicating she's going to want to come back a lot
- 5:23Speaker 2: more so. Apparently when you leave America, you really, really
- 5:28Speaker 2: really don't enjoy it. Other celebrity news, Spike Lee a
- 5:31Speaker 2: lot of people upset with him. He showed up at
- 5:34Speaker 2: the NBA All Star Game, the first Israeli born player
- 5:38Speaker 2: competing in the NBA All Star Game. Spike Lee shows
- 5:42Speaker 2: up wearing a Palestinian outfit, a Palestinian flag, a Palestinian this,
- 5:47Speaker 2: a Palestinian that. It's stupid, it's disgusting, it's anti Semitic
- 5:52Speaker 2: in that situation, but it's Spike Lee. Would you've expected
- 5:55Speaker 2: any different from Spike Lee. It's just it's the problem
- 6:00Speaker 2: that democrats have. You know, when Jesse Jackson. First you
- 6:04Speaker 2: had Martin Luther King, big civil rights leader, a big
- 6:08Speaker 2: left winging guy. Great job. Then you had Jesse Jackson,
- 6:11Speaker 2: not not Martin Luther King, but it wasn't so bad.
- 6:14Speaker 2: And then somewhere along the way, the Nation of Islam
- 6:17Speaker 2: Phara con jumps into the civil rights movement, bringing with
- 6:21Speaker 2: him anti Semitism. It then starts to creep into the
- 6:24Speaker 2: Democratic Party. Maybe I don't know there has it been
- 6:26Speaker 2: there all along, maybe, but it brought it out. There's
- 6:30Speaker 2: an anti Semitic problem that Democrats are going to have
- 6:33Speaker 2: to deal with. It's gonna it's gonna just haunt them
- 6:36Speaker 2: forever if they don't get rid of it. It's gotten worse.
- 6:39Speaker 2: But then everything in the democratic world has gotten worse.
- 6:41Speaker 2: They've just gotten totally insane, absolutely crazy, just over the
- 6:45Speaker 2: top nuts in the last few years. So heyres have
- 6:49Speaker 2: you seen the JFK Junior mini series?
- 6:52Speaker 1: I saw the promos for it, I haven't seen the series.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Apparently this is the hottest series in the world. JFK Junior.
- 6:57Speaker 2: It's mostly about his me, Carolyn Bassett. You know, he
- 7:02Speaker 2: was like the ultimate playboy of Manhattan women, all of them,
- 7:06Speaker 2: but then he met this one woman. And this is
- 7:08Speaker 2: like for a lot of women, the fairy tale love
- 7:10Speaker 2: story that the ultimate bachelor can fall in love and
- 7:14Speaker 2: want to settle down and want to get married, and
- 7:17Speaker 2: it's all about their relationship and this and that how
- 7:20Speaker 2: they got married. This incredible love story. Now, JFK. Junior
- 7:24Speaker 2: was a very good friend of mine. We used to
- 7:25Speaker 2: go out a lot, and he was quite the unbelievable bachelor.
- 7:30Speaker 2: And he did meet Carolyn Bassett and settled down. I
- 7:32Speaker 2: didn't see him as much after that, but then I
- 7:34Speaker 2: started to see him again a lot, and he was
- 7:36Speaker 2: going out. So I don't know what they show in
- 7:38Speaker 2: this miniseries, but after a while with this marriage, he
- 7:43Speaker 2: was out again roaming around. So it wasn't quite the
- 7:46Speaker 2: fairy tale you imagine. Now, apparently in the series, he
- 7:51Speaker 2: meets her and he takes her on the first date
- 7:54Speaker 2: to a certain restaurant in the village East village. I
- 7:57Speaker 2: don't have the name of it. It's an Indian restaurant,
- 8:00Speaker 2: and I guess they actually went to the real place
- 8:02Speaker 2: and filmed it there. And you see them going the
- 8:05Speaker 2: first day to this Indian restaurant in the village. Well,
- 8:08Speaker 2: apparently because of that, this restaurant is now the hardest
- 8:12Speaker 2: reservation in the world to get. People are lined up
- 8:14Speaker 2: for miles. They all want to get into this restaurant. Now, again,
- 8:17Speaker 2: I knew the guy pretty well and he was a
- 8:19Speaker 2: great guy, but nobody had worse taste in food than him.
- 8:24Speaker 2: He didn't know anything about The only person that had
- 8:27Speaker 2: worst tastes in food probably his mother. They In fact,
- 8:29Speaker 2: when his mother had a big dinner party, everybody knew
- 8:32Speaker 2: to eat first, because it's like that old waspy society
- 8:36Speaker 2: food where that's nothing has any flavor. But so I
- 8:40Speaker 2: wouldn't go by him on what restaurants to go do.
- 8:42Speaker 2: But it doesn't matter. The place is packed all the time.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I've noticed a lot of this. This is the new
- 8:50Speaker 2: thing with making the movies about people, like with JFK
- 8:54Speaker 2: jor you make it into much more of a perfect
- 8:57Speaker 2: marriage than it actually was. Or have you seen them
- 9:00Speaker 2: movie Marty Supreme Just saw it a few ways ago. Yes,
- 9:02Speaker 2: it's unbelievable, action packed, it's amazing. Now I knew the
- 9:05Speaker 2: real guy. His name was Marty Reesman Uh and he
- 9:09Speaker 2: was a nice guy, but he was maybe the most
- 9:11Speaker 2: boring human being you could ever be around. He was
- 9:14Speaker 2: and he was a ping pong player champion. And if
- 9:17Speaker 2: you see the movie, all the ping pong stuff is true,
- 9:20Speaker 2: but all the other stuff is just made up. The gangsters,
- 9:23Speaker 2: the gun chases, the car chases, gunfire, the movie stuff.
- 9:26Speaker 2: All of that was made up, total fiction. So that's
- 9:29Speaker 2: the new style of biography. Start with the real story
- 9:32Speaker 2: and then just make up all kinds of nonsense. Hey,
- 9:35Speaker 2: there's a nail salon. I don't want to mention the name,
- 9:39Speaker 2: but it's really nice. It's beautiful, it's excellent. Everybody tells
- 9:43Speaker 2: me it's the finest nail salon in the city. So
- 9:46Speaker 2: I'm looking. I don't know. I just looked it up
- 9:48Speaker 2: on Yelp. It got the worst review I've ever It's
- 9:50Speaker 2: got horrible reviews. It's magnificent. How could I get such
- 9:54Speaker 2: bad reviews. I'm reading the Yelp reviews. This woman says
- 9:57Speaker 2: it's I will never set foot in there again. They
- 10:02Speaker 2: had Fox News playing on the TV. There's another one.
- 10:06Speaker 2: You've got to boycott. I won't mention the name. Boycott it.
- 10:09Speaker 2: They have Fox News on the TV there. This is unbelievable.
- 10:13Speaker 2: This is how just modern day democrats the most intolerant
- 10:16Speaker 2: people in the world. I've had a lot of restaurant
- 10:19Speaker 2: managers tell me that, you know restaurant that has TVs
- 10:23Speaker 2: around the bar or all over it, but that if
- 10:25Speaker 2: Fox News is on, people will start yelling and screaming,
- 10:28Speaker 2: demanding they changed the channel, or demanding they changed their
- 10:31Speaker 2: table so they don't have to look at Fox News again,
- 10:35Speaker 2: counting the left wing to be totally intolerant all the time. Hey, herv,
- 10:40Speaker 2: where do you live in Jersey?
- 10:41Speaker 1: Union City?
- 10:42Speaker 2: So when you came into the city, what was your
- 10:44Speaker 2: impression as far as garbage snow?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Well, I was kind of brought up in New York,
- 10:48Speaker 1: so that doesn't surprise me. What did stand out this time?
- 10:52Speaker 1: I am seeing more masks again. I'm seeing more, I
- 10:56Speaker 1: say a little bit in Jersey, but I'm seeing them
- 10:57Speaker 1: here the more I come into the city. You what
- 11:00Speaker 1: that's all about.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Oh, well, it's good. It's the left wing identifying themselves
- 11:04Speaker 2: with the Mets. Although it was pretty cold the last
- 11:06Speaker 2: few weeks. I saw a lot of people wearing masks
- 11:08Speaker 2: during the cold snap. But it was great. The snow melted,
- 11:13Speaker 2: it's almost all gone. The garbage got picked up. Although
- 11:15Speaker 2: today walking around I know it's the garbage's back. Enormous
- 11:19Speaker 2: piles of garbage on every street. So that's mom, Donnie.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Not good with the not good with anything right now.
- 11:27Speaker 2: A management disaster, and by the way, the emergency response
- 11:31Speaker 2: director who's been there for years, just left. He quit. Now.
- 11:35Speaker 2: The good news is he kept recommending his number two,
- 11:39Speaker 2: the deputy director, and said she'd be perfect. She's been
- 11:43Speaker 2: there almost thirty years. She knows what she's doing. The
- 11:45Speaker 2: good news is Mom, Donnie just appointed her, made her
- 11:48Speaker 2: the director. A lot of people thought he'd bring in
- 11:50Speaker 2: some left wing crazy kook, but he did appoint her.
- 11:54Speaker 2: So that's pretty good news. Hey, we'll take a break.
- 11:58Speaker 2: We'll take some calls. Next eight hundred three two one
- 12:02Speaker 2: zero seven. Ton is the number. Eight hundred three two
- 12:06Speaker 2: one zero seven ten. Now listen. As I said, we
- 12:08Speaker 2: got a lot of big high rollers in the audience.
- 12:11Speaker 2: This station has the highest they're called the c Suite index.
- 12:17Speaker 2: That's how many CEOs CFOs coos. Listen. Our c suite
- 12:24Speaker 2: indexes two seventy two normals one hundred. So we got
- 12:27Speaker 2: a lot of big executives. We got IRV over here.
- 12:31Speaker 2: It's a big winner of our auction price. But what
- 12:34Speaker 2: we're doing is we're going to have a big exclusive
- 12:38Speaker 2: business networking event coming up. It's going to be March nineteenth,
- 12:42Speaker 2: six to eight pm. It'll be in the evening cocktails
- 12:46Speaker 2: and it'll be a lot of CEOs, a lot of
- 12:48Speaker 2: business leaders, and if you want to come to it
- 12:50Speaker 2: you can. You have to RSVP because the space is limited.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Now we're going to have this at this beautiful new venue.
- 12:57Speaker 2: It's called two Park Avenue. It's Park Avenue. I think
- 13:01Speaker 2: it's like fortieth Street. It's just two blocks from Grand Central,
- 13:04Speaker 2: but to Park Avenue. It's this beautiful office building. The
- 13:08Speaker 2: venue is on the top and it hasn't credible views.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Also has this big, magnificent terrace. So the event's going
- 13:14Speaker 2: to be a lot of CEOs, a lot of business leaders.
- 13:17Speaker 2: If you want to come to this and network and mingle,
- 13:20Speaker 2: you can do that. I'll be there. I'll be talking
- 13:23Speaker 2: a little, Larry MENTI will and Curtis Sliwa will speak
- 13:27Speaker 2: and if you've never seen if you've never seen Curtis speak,
- 13:29Speaker 2: he's just dazzling doing those speeches. But if you want
- 13:33Speaker 2: to come, it's six to eight pm. You have a
- 13:35Speaker 2: chance to meet a lot of business leaders CEOs to
- 13:38Speaker 2: Park Avenue. This is a beautiful if you want to
- 13:41Speaker 2: do a corporate event, a business event, this is one
- 13:44Speaker 2: of the most beautiful new event spaces to Park Avenue. Now,
