- 0:00Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and welcome to another episode
- 0:05of the United Church of Donga Youth Devotion.
- 0:09Our Bible reading for today is taken from 1 Corinthians 9, verse 25.
- 0:16It says, Every athlete trains with discipline.
- 0:20They do it to win a prize that will not last. But we work for a prize that will last forever.
- 0:29Our theme, Be a Disciplined Athlete in Christ. Have you ever seen athletes train?
- 0:37They put in hard work daily, pushing themselves to be the best.
- 0:42They understand that without training, there are no wins.
- 0:47In this verse, the Apostle Paul compares our life with God to a race.
- 0:53But rather than chasing a trophy that fates, we are running towards something
- 1:00eternal, God's reward in heaven.
- 1:03Like athletes, we need to train ourselves to follow Jesus.
- 1:08This involves praying, reading the Bible, and making wise choices.
- 1:15Sometimes it can be tough, and we may feel exhausted or tempted to give up.
- 1:22However, if we push through by disciplining ourselves to stay on the lifestyle
- 1:28and path God has laid for us, according to the scriptures,
- 1:34God promises a reward that will never fade.
- 1:38The Apostle Paul reminds us that a life with Jesus requires effort,
- 1:44like training for a race.
- 1:47However, our reward isn't temporary. It's eternal with God.
- 1:53This eternal reward is the crown that awaits believers in Christ in heaven.
- 1:59So let's stay strong and keep running with complete reliance on the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
- 2:08Let us pray. Dear God, help me to remain strong and keep following you, even when it's tough.
- 2:17Grant me discipline like an athlete so I can live for you daily.
- 2:24Thank you for the eternal price you promise. Amen.
